I have wanted a kitten for a year! My friend knew this and one of his student's cat's had a litter in April. He had her save one for me and 7 weeks later, Smeeshy came home!

This beautiful orange and white girl was found crying in a neighbor’s yard when she was a wee little kitten. Originally taken in by another family, Victoria joined Patches and Princess in her furever home when she was brought over for a visit. She loves tuna fish and hanging out with her grandpa. VOTE SMOKEY 92440 COTD SATURDAY, AUGUST 1
So, in this HOT weather, who wouldn't want to visit SMOKEY in Imperial Beach, CA? Just sit back and feel the cool ocean breeze wafting through your fur as you read about this pretty 11 year old girl. Smokey lives with her Mom, older sister Callie and her young tormenting sister, Angel. She loves greenies and pawty mix. Not only has she conned her Mom into making sure she gets only fancy feast for breakfast every day but it has to be served before Mom starts getting ready for work!
SMOKEY takes her kong kickeroo toy to bed as it is her favorite toy but she loves playing with the laser light and HER fishing pole toy. She is not shy, in fact likes meeting new people and often welcomes them from the comfort of the top of the recliner or the cat tree. Smokey truly loves her Mom as she rescued her from a shelter at age one and has provided her with a loving home.

It's me Talley, I hope you've been having a great summer. I remember my first year, each season was a great new experience. Summer is okay, but just wait till fall and Spring. Those are my favorite seasons. I know you'll love them too. Of course winter is nice be cause that's when Christmas is. It's a beautiful Holiday, The birthday of Jesus, and a time when everyone is nice to everyone. Your family gives you presents and they bring a tree inside for you to play with. It's wonderful. Get the Kleenax box out. AMARETTO 116191 telling her story: "I had been at a shelter for over a year and half …let’s just say I was a little feisty. I wasn’t a real ‘people’ person and the shelter workers were afraid of me. Can you believe that? They tried putting me into the cat room with other cats, said I stalked a cat there, and had to be removed. So, I got stuck in a cage. Mom saw my picture on the shelter's website and would watch to see if I had been adopted yet. (I reminded her of Hannibal and she was curious). After being there so long Mom decided meet me. I was a bit upset on that day as I had just come back from a foster home where I was kept in another cage. I wasn’t in a real good mood to say the least and Mom wasn’t sure if I would fit in with the guys." Pass the Kleenax, please. "The following week Mom got in the mail the shelter's newsletter, where I was featured on the cover with a letter to Santa asking for a home. READ THIS LETTER ON AMARETTO'S PAGE. Mom said it broke her heart so she called a shelter worker, she knew from adopting Hannibal and Giovani, to make arrangements to come on 12/27/08 and again spend some time with me. This worker was also leery of me but after spending time with me Mom thought it would be ok. At that time, I wouldn’t let anyone pick me up or hold me. Ok, I’ll admit that maybe I was a bit of a challenge but I needed to learn how to trust again. From that moment, my life started to change." More Kleenax please. "I’m now Mom’s lap kitty and she calls me her little angel. Having a bad case of kitty acne, Mom had to learn how to sneak meds on me so I wouldn’t swat. I also have inflammatory bowel disease, and have been cooperative about taking meds which help this condition. Oh, and as for my brothers..I get along fine with them and love to play with Indie and nap with Hannibal. Mom emailed the shelter worker some pics of me in my new home and a friend told Mom that they have it posted on their bulletin board. The lady told Mom that she’s the shelter hero because they didn’t think they’d find a home for me but Mom said that I’m actually the hero for learning how to trust again. You can’t always judge a book by its cover and a little love does go a long way." .·:*¨¨*:·. Sniff, sniff - What a wonderful story! It's takes a special Mom (and home) to adopt a kitty like AMARETTO and give her a chance to love and trust again. >^..^<*~ Tyler, the trooper, #124579 is the WED. July 22 COTD candidate! A tiny Tyler was found in a vet’s parking lot in a sealed cardboard box. He was only about 2-3 weeks old. The vet called Tyler’s adopted Mom to see if she would foster this little guy as the odds are stacked against a kitten so young surviving without a feline mom and the human mom must provide everything a cat mom normally gives her kitten. She not only agreed to foster Tyler, she fell in love with him and couldn't let him go!
On Thursday, July 23, Tiny Tyler will celebrate his very 1st Birthday, a major milestone considering his rough start in life. We would love for the caring CC community of cats to join together on WED, July 22 and vote for Tyler #124579 so that we give him a very special COTD badge on his page Thursday morning as our Birthday present to him and his incredible Mom! Certainly, the fact that Tyler not only survived but thrived is cause to celebrate! Tyler’s pictures document his growth into a handsome long haired gray and white fella who loves his family, plays hide & seek, jumps high for his crinkle ball, and enjoys a good cat chase. According to CATOPIA by Anne Mortimer “Kittens are born blind & helpless. After a few days, they will crawl a short distance to find their mom and at about 10 days open their eyes. IF a kitten is to be an affectionate animal companion as an adult, it NEEDS a lot of SOCIAL CONTACT from this critical stage, being gently held, stroked, and talked to. At 3 weeks, kittens can stand, and begin to play, and by 7 weeks they are running, jumping, climbing ... and getting into all kinds of mischief!” Tyler certainly got what he needed and we are glad he did!
