Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Sorry we didn’t get to paw by yesterday. My Mom has the stomach flu and slept most of Saturday. We all kept her company on the bed, giving her lots of purr therapy, a sure cure for any ailment. My Mom’s tummy feels better today, but her old bones are still aching. Ebony and Sugar Bear stayed locked in our backyard all day yesterday and probably today. Mom doesn’t want to take them next door for their daily visit because she doesn’t want to spread her germs.

Thank you so much for the Angel dust for our outside cats dear furiend. You are such a sweet angel. We'll keep Finster and Percey in our prayers. It sounds like they are both doing great!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. Have a relaxing Sunday with your furever family.

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Happy Friday furiends! My Mom had errands to do this morning, so she put Ebony and Sugar Bear inside at the next-door neighbor’s house. (A sort of trial run.) When Mom came home, she saw Ebony in the bay window next door. So cute! About an hour later, Mom went next door to see how the kitties were doing. When Mom opened the door, Ebony jumped into her arms! Ebony is a big 15-pound boy and Mom has never had a cat jump in her arms! A lot of puppy dogs, but never a cat! Mom sat down and Ebony sat in her lap. Sugar Bear was being a kitten, running up and down the stairs. This weekend the neighbor’s Mom will be moving in permanently. We think the kitties just need someone to keep them company. Keep your paws crossed!

Yippee for your Dad! The foot doctor helped him! We hope his foot stays better. Give Percey and Finster hugs for us. We have them in our prayers. Your Mom and Dad too!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

For all you black cats out there, a lovely poem by Teresa Harrison-Best...

The Steps To Reach Fulfilment =^.^=
~~~~~
I want to sing the virtues
of having a black cat.
So elegant and glossy,
never tedious nor matt.
They’ll never clash with décor
or lose their sense of style.
They’ll compliment all your colours
with an allure that will beguile.
When holding any black cat
you’ll always look most chic.
With an element of wonder,
and hint of pure mystique.
Just think of them as slimming,
as black gives that effect.
An optical illusion,
such a bonus I suspect.
You’ll never need a clothes brush,
if dressing in black tie.
Just think of all the tantrums,
of many years gone bye.
They never look too grubby,
and their feet are always clean.
Despite the many mud baths
they always look pristine.
In snow you’ll never lose them,
such a monochrome delight.
They never fade in sunlight,
Just always looking so bright.
Black cats are very lucky,
as you would clearly see.
They’ll give you much enjoyment,
and you will soon agree.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Happy National Feral Cat Day! Oct 16th, National Feral Cat Day is the perfect time to raise our voices to protect the cats we love—indoors, outdoors, and everywhere in between.
^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^
It’s very noisy here today with lots of big trucks as they repave our street. The workers started at 7:30 this morning. Even though the construction company warned all the neighbors about the repaving, we saw several neighbors running outside, frantic to get to work in their cars. The workers used the first half hour to cordon off the street, giving time for the silly neighbors who hadn’t prepared.
We are all hiding inside the house. Ebony and Sugar Bear are safe in the backyard. My Mom has set out treats for all of us, but it’s way too noisy to eat - even for me. MOL!
I wonder what Percey cut her toes on? At least a scab on her paw means it's healing. Finster sounds like he is a connoisseur of great food! I bet the chicken broth was delicious!
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
Ferals =^.^=
~~~~~
We never know what the day may bring,
or what we have in store.
Each day is taken in our stride,
just like the one’s before.

Some of us have battle scars,
and wounds that cause us pain.
Mother nature is our nurse,
and soothes us back again.

We’re loath to trust, it keeps us safe
the past has taught us well.
Compassion’s shown by very few,
how many? We can’t tell.

The elements can be unkind,
both old and young may die.
Life is tough for feral cats,
for that we won’t deny.

Some us are trapped and caught,
no longer can we breed.
Others wind up at the pound,
for them a home they plead!

Our future’s never guaranteed,
the risks for us are great.
Poison, cars and unkind folk,
can often seal our fate.

However, we just soldier on,
we’re streetwise, shrewd and smart.
We’ll take our chance in the hostile world,
and hope it has a heart! ♥

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We are hoping and praying the next storm doesn't hit you guys too hard. How frightening it must be! Oh no! Your poor Dad fell out of bed?! We'll be praying for his visit to the foot doctor goes well. I wonder what could be in Percey's little paw? Maybe a foxtail? We have foxtails outside, especially on the walking trail. My Mom always checks Ebony and Sugar Bear for those ugly stickers, since those two cats are outside during the day. We'll be glad when they're inside only cats!
~~~
The temperature dropped 20 degrees from yesterday! It smells like rain outside, but so far no raindrops have hit the ground. Last evening we had gusty winds up to 30 mph, so this morning my Mom was raking up all the leaves and broken branches in the yard. When Mom took Callie and me on our stroller walk this morning, the trail was covered with crunchy leaves. I couldn’t get my usual nap in while we were strolling because it was so noisy!
Tomorrow our street is going to be repaved so we’ll all be prisoners in our houses from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. I made sure my Mom has all the essentials in the house - cat food, cat treats and cat toys. MOL! My Mom is going to park her car on an adjacent street just in case of an emergency, since our street will be covered in wet asphalt all day. Mom is also going to keep our outside fursibs Ebony & Sugar Bear locked up in our backyard, just to be safe.
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
SOME HALLOWEEN CAT LUCK AND LORE =^.^=
^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^
• A new cat given the name of a recently deceased cat will bring you good luck.
• Cat lore in ancient Thailand taught that when a particularly spiritual, or holy person died, their soul would enter the body of a cat, and would then ascend to Paradise when the cat died.
• In mythology, the cat was believed to have great influence on the weather. Witches who rode on storms took the form of cats. The dog, an attendant of the storm king Odin, was a symbol of wind. Cats came to symbolize down-pouring rain, and dogs to symbolize strong gusts of wind. This may be where the phrase "it's raining cats and dogs" originated.
• If two cats were seen fighting around a dying person, or near a grave shortly after a funeral, this represented the Devil and an Angel fighting for possession of the recently departed soul.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Well, us kitties had the house to ourselves today. My Dad had car problems this morning on the way to work and Mom had to go rescue him and his car. Mom took him to school because you can’t have a teacher missing school without a substitute! So Dad’s car is in the shop and the tow truck driver brought Mom home. My Mom saw all of us, even Whitey and Orangie, looking out the bay window when she got home. Ebony and Sugar Bear were sitting on their cathouse in the front yard.
We were all happy to see our Mom, even though she didn’t bring us back any treats. MOL!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
According to the weather report this morning, today is supposed to be our last day in the nineties. It’s also very dry and windy, so there’s a high fire danger alert. But by Wednesday the temps will drop twenty degrees. Maybe it’s finally time to get the ole electric blankets back out.
Our pawrents took Callie and me for our walk in the stroller. The walking trail was deserted. We haven’t seen any deer for quite a while, but we still leave water in the bucket for any animals that might be thirsty.
Mom and Dad went grocery shopping and Petco shopping today! Whoo hoo! We all got treats and some little catnip stuffed pumpkin toys to bat around. Now it’s time for a relaxing Sunday catnap!
I bet your street was busy with lots of people watching the marathon! Finster eats pizza?! What a crazy kitty! We'll keep Percey and her sore paw in our prayers.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We had a house full of company today, so my fursisters and I have been hiding out upstairs all day. No fun at all. My Mom is promising to go to Petco tomorrow, so we’re holding her to that. I’ve got my long list ready to go!
We hope Percey's paw is doing okay and we hope Finster starts to maybe gain a little weight since he's eating so much! Raining already? Rain? What's rain? MOL!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Yippee! CatChannel is back and so far so good. I told my Mom not to ever log out of CC again. MOL!
We have a lot of catching up to do. We are all doing fine, pretty much of the same ole routine. Callie and I are napping outside. Our temperatures have been in the low 80’s with one last heat wave expected next Monday. But it sure has been chilly in the morning when Callie and I go for our stroller walks with my Mom. Mom put an extra blanket inside for us to snuggle.
Whitey and Orangie are doing fine too, sleeping in the upstairs bedroom window, enjoying the sun. Our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear are getting closer to becoming inside cats with the neighbor next door. Mom had them both inside the neighbor’s house yesterday for a couple of hours. Ebony surprised Mom by using the kitty litter box. The neighbor’s Mother will be moving into the house at the end of this month, so my Mom is going to keep taking the two cats over every day to get used to their new home. In the meantime, Ebony and Sugar Bear are still sleeping in our backyard at night, and they catnap in the front yard during the day.
That's good that Finster is eating a lot, right? Is he gaining any weight? That would be great mews! We missed you sweet angel. Give your pawrents big hugs for us.
We sure did miss all our furiends. It’s good to be back!
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
It took two long days, but Cat Channel seems to be working for us today. I hope we don’t jinx it by saying that out loud! (Too late! CC is back on the fritz! Gotta keep trying!)
My Mom spent the whole day and most of the night yesterday, upgrading the system software on her Mac along with all the other apps that had to be upgraded once she had the new system software installed properly. My Mom had been putting it off for too long and thought it might be necessary if CC is upgrading the website. Sometimes an old browser can’t handle the newer websites and our browser was definitely dated, so it had to be done. It was not a pretty day. Callie and I had dibs on the new cat tree in the computer room. Whitey and Orangie had to settle for the cat beds on the floor. But we were all there with Mom to lend a paw when she needed help. MOL! At least we tried to keep her calm.
The outside kitties Ebony & Sugar Bear are fine. Mom is keeping them locked up in the backyard today where it’s cooler, since temps are supposed to be in the mid-90’s.
How funny that Finster enjoys chicken soup. He's quite a character. We're glad Percey is finally out of heat. Poor baby is probably exhausted. We hope it stays sunny for you kitties!
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
Human Inconsistency
Humans spend many hours sitting in front of a box with moving pictures, tapping tiny squares on a board with their fingertips...it is rumored that this is actually how humans sharpen their claws! Considering how sanctimonious they are when they catch cats sharpening their claws, humans obviously need a lesson in consistency. One of the best ways to do this is to walk on the board with the tiny squares...that will always get a huge reaction from the human, a good indication that you're actually teaching them something! If that doesn't work, lay on the board or throw up a furball on it! There's no good reason why humans should be allowed to sharpen their claws while forbidding cats to do so!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Aargh! Try as we may, we had an awful time trying to get on CC all day yesterday! We sure were sad to miss out on Queen Mimi’s Coronation and saying farewell to Queen Lil’ Bear, but every once and awhile, we made it successfully onto CC and tried to leave messages as fast as my paws could cut and paste! We did get to read about the lovely Coronation and how beautiful all our furiends looked dressed in their elegant finery.
K. Pete organized the Royal Feline Squadron together for a spectacular Royal Air Show. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, be sure to go back and read about it at the Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Page (271826). Talley and I were so honored to be a part of the amazing show. It ended with the Angel Squadron flying in the Missing Man Formation and Angel Mallow peeling off and climbing out of sight in her Eclipse Jet. With the strains of Amazing Grace playing in the background, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.
We are having the same problems with CC today, but not as bad. We’re trying to catch up on the blogs from yesterday & today, so we apologize if we miss anyone. We’re all doing fine. The weather is warming up and it’s supposed to be very windy. A high fire danger alert has been posted around our area.
The outside kitties are doing fine. As soon as the sun gets too warm, Mom brings Callie and me inside and lets Ebony and Sugar Bear have the backyard. It stays shady in the backyard as the day goes on and Mom keeps ice in the water bowls.
We have sweet Percey in our prayers dear furiend. My Mom agrees with your Mom about global warming being the cause of the drought and all the extreme weather everyone has been having!
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
Cats as Humanitarians -
Humans have a very tenuous hold on reality and it is up to the cats to help them maintain their grasp on said reality. For instance, humans often speak to imaginary friends while holding a small object up to their ear, with no other humans in sight, obviously losing touch with the real world! A cat must put a stop to this as quickly as possible! Climb on the human and get your face right up in theirs and meow very loudly until the human acknowledges you, therefore bringing them back to reality. If that fails, you can use the top of your head to try and knock the small object out of their hand/away from their ear, which almost always succeeds in stopping their talking to thin air.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
It’s the last day of September and we’re getting ready for another heat wave this week. I guess fall isn’t here yet. Callie and I are sunbathing in the back yard; Whitey and Orangie came downstairs today much to our surprise, to catnap in the bay window. Ebony is asleep on his cathouse in the front yard and Mom saw Sugar Bear playing on the front lawn with one of her catnip toys.
My Mom is teaching Ebony and Sugar Bear to follow her next door, into the neighbor’s back yard where they’ll be living soon. They won’t be living in the back yard. Mom is just getting them familiar with their new home. So far it’s been easy. The two cats tag along behind my Mom when she’s rattling a bag of Temptations. MOL!
We hope Percey can settle down a little and stop meowing so much. We'll keep Percey and Finster in our prayers. Give your sweet Mom and Dad hugs for us.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Happy Monday! Another late start for my Mom and me. She is spending way too much time with our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear! But my Mom tells me it won’t be for long. Hopefully by the middle of October, Ebony and Sugar will be living in their new furever home next door.
Callie and I went for our morning cat stroller walk this morning. The weather is very mild today, only in the 70’s, but by Wednesday we are expected to have another heat wave in the high nineties. Hopefully that’ll be the last one.
Whitey and Orangie are catnapping in the new cat tree in the computer room. I thought the new cat tree was a present for me?! Humph! I guess you snooze, you lose! We’ll see about that. Right now I’m trying to stare down Whitey and Orangie, giving them the “Evie Eye”! MOL! (If you know K. Mike and his fursister Evie, you’ll KNOW what the “Evie Eye” is, and why my sisters should be very afraid!)
Oh no! Percey is in heat?! Poor baby. We're glad to hear her paw is feeling better. We'll keep Percey, Finster and your dear pawrents in our prayers.
♥ From The B.A. Kitties' Desk...♥
Good evening dear Angel Rhuby and family!
Please forgive us for being gone for a long time. Momma had a very busy month and we also had some troubles with our PC. Grandma accidentally spilled a cup of coffee over one of our notebooks and we had to fix it.
We missed all our friends and it is so nice to be back. Thank you ever so much for wishing Sally and Simba a happy birthday last 22nd September. Dad also celebrated his birthday on the same day and they all had a great time!
Spring has arrived to our home and the days are sunny and warm. Mom says you can see flowers everywhere and the birds are visiting our windows again.
Mommy is still sad about his special boy, Martin, who crossed to the Rainbow Bridge last Thursday. He was one of the stray boys she feeds. He was a very sweet kitty and Mom loved him with all her heart. We've been giving her many purrs to make her feel better.
Thanks a lot for your comforting words and lovely messages; they mean the world for Mom.
Last night our parents had a party at home to celebrate Dad's birthday and the house was full of friends and family. Most of us stayed upstairs, but Miss Muni was really glad to be around making friends and purring to all the guests. She is just a wonderful host. She also had much fun playing with the bows of the gifts. MOL!
We hope you have a super purrfect week. We send you a huge bunch of whisker kisses and hugs...
With much love,
from your friends always,
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Sorry we didn’t make it by yesterday. The FedEx truck dropped off the two cat trees my Mom ordered for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new adopted house. Mom had to assemble some of the pieces, but under our watchful eyes, she finally got it right. Callie and I even tried them out, but Mom told us they’re not for us and she stored them in the garage for now. Mom did order us a small cat tree for our computer room, so we can help her do our CC blogs without always sitting on her lap. MOL!
Oh no! Percey had an infected paw?! We hope she is feeling much better very soon. We hope Finister starts to gain some weight. It sounds like he enjoys eating! Who doesn't?! We'll keep both kitties and your whole family in our prayers sweetie.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We hope Percey's trip to the vet went okay and hope they can figure out what's wrong with her little paw. We'll keep Percey and Finster in our prayers dear furiend.
Well our rain came and went in a day, and our temps are in the high 70’s, expected to warm up each day. We got less than 1/2 inch of rain yesterday, but we’re not complaining.
Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller this morning. We haven’t seen any deer for a while, but we still leave water in the bucket every morning. It was very quiet on the trail today.
It’s a quiet day too at our house. Callie and I are sunning in the backyard. A hummingbird came awfully close to us while were napping, but that mean Mom of ours saw it through the back kitchen window, tapped loud on the glass and scared it away. Aw Mom!
Whitey and Orangie are upstairs catnapping in the bedroom window and Ebony and Sugar Bear are napping on top of their cathouse in the front yard. My Mom ordered two cat trees for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new home. They should be delivered here tomorrow.
Have a wonderful weekend and we hope to see you at the Castle Board Games pawty today! I have my catbucks ready in case there any card games going on in the back rooms. MOL!
Cat Toys -
Any small item is a potential toy. If a human tries to confiscate it, this means that it is a good toy. Run with it under the bed. Look suitably outraged when the human grabs you and takes it away. Always watch where it is put so you can steal it later. Two reliable sources of toys are dresser tops and wastebaskets. There are several types of cat toys.
Bright shiny things like keys, brooches, or coins should be hidden so that the other cat(s) or humans can't play with them. They are generally good for playing hockey with on uncarpeted floors.
And who can resist a paper bag? Within paper bags dwell the bag mice. They are small and camouflaged to be the same color as the bag, so they are hard to see. But you can easily hear the crinkling noises they make as they scurry around the bag. Anything, up to and including shredding the bag, can be done to kill them. Note: any other cat you may find in a bag, hunting for bag mice is fair game for a sneak attack, which will usually result in a great game of tag!
With all the love in your house, we're sure Rosie will settle down. Glad to hear Finster is eating. We hope he is gaining weight too. We always have your family in our prayers dear furiend.
Our Mom made a trip to Petco today. Yay! She had two five dollar off coupons and a coupon for 10 percent off her total purchase. My sisters and I were up all night putting together our wish list. When she got home, we helped her unload everything and lo and behold, Mom had got everything on our list!
And more good mews! We got rain this morning! Not just a light drizzle, but real raindrops were falling from 4 a.m. until 8 o’clock this morning. My Mom said she could see the trees in the yard come back to life! MOL! The yard looked very happy.
Since Callie and I couldn’t go outside anyway, Mom left Ebony and Sugar Bear in the backyard so they could stay dry inside the doghouse until it stopped raining. Ebony and Sugar Bear have a cathouse in the front yard, but Mom hasn’t seem them go inside the house yet. They are always sitting on top of the house. Mom is hoping they figure it out someday. Hopefully they won’t need to. :)
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
The Wisdom & Witticisms of being a Cat =^.^=
Cat Speak -
Humans will sometimes try to speak in cat language, attempting to 'meow' at you while having no real idea what they're saying! Cats can either meow back and try and fool the human into thinking that there is a real connection going on, or they can stare at the human with a puzzled look on their face...after all, the human just told you that your mother was the strumpet of every tomcat in town! (Pardon the language!) Did they mean to say that or did they simply not understand the implications of their attempting to meow? It's hard to say, as the level of human advancement in this area is very limited...about the only 'catspeak' they actually understand is "I'm starving" and "Let me out...NOW!" If they have truly insulted you or your family, feel free to either tell them how stupid they are in cat language or walk away indignantly.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We hope the rain can hold off long enough for your pawrents to get to the store for cat treats. Although the roast pork treat sounds awfully good!
Our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear are getting really good now at eating dinner in the backyard and settling down nicely to sleep there at night. Every morning when Callie and I get to go in the backyard, we have all kinds of interesting scents to explore. Mom says we look like we’re saying, “Who’s been sleeping in my yard?” MOL!
The neighbor who is interested in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear came over to visit last night. Mom had just finished feeding the two cats and locked them in the yard. Mom took her neighbor in the backyard to sit on the deck while they chatted. Ebony and Sugar Bear were inside the doghouse, where Sugar Bear kept peeking her head out to look.
The neighbor is a very nice, soft-spoken man. His family is originally from India but most of them have lived in the U.S. for many years. He invited Mom to visit his house and has asked her if she would help buy whatever the cats will need. Mom was happy to accept. (Mom was on the internet all night, ordering cat stuff from her favorite cat stores. She better get us something too!:)
My Mom will help get the cats adjusted to their new home when the time comes. She still needs to meet the neighbor’s Mother. My Mom made very sure her neighbor understands that if for any reason it doesn’t work out, Ebony and Sugar Bear always have a home here with us.
While they were sitting in the backyard talking, Sugar Bear ran out of the doghouse to grab her Cosmic Catnip banana, do a quick bunny kick on the ground and ran back inside the doghouse. The neighbor had a good laugh! My Mom knew Sugar Bear would be easy to adjust. It’s Ebony that will take a little work. Baby steps!
The Eternal Question -
When faced with the age-old question, "Is it love, or is it Fancy Feast?", we all know that it is Fancy Feast, of course. However, it is absolutely crucial that cats not let the humans know this, or the humans might stop sharing this treat with us! Always convince the human that your sudden, intense attention showered on them is LOVE! You can go back to normal behavior after the treat has been consumed!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
The brisket sounds delicious! We're happy to hear the kitties got to enjoy a taste too!
A neighbor of ours has expressed an interest in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear for his Mother. He has lived by himself, next door to us for over 20 years. His Mom will be moving in with him next month. She lives alone right now and he worries about her as she gets older. Even though they have been our neighbors for many years, my pawrents only know the man well enough to say hello every day and have watched his house on occasion when he’s away.
The neighbor came over to our house for advice on how to go about getting a pet, since he’s never had one of his own. He told my Mom he used to always see her walking her dogs and now always sees cats sitting in the windows. So Mom told him the story of how Ebony and Sugar Bear came to be here. It sounds very promising and Mom is hopeful. She would love to see Ebony and Sugar Bear become indoor cats.
We’ll see what happens. In the meantime, both cats are doing fine sleeping in the backyard at night, but happy when Mom lets them outside in the morning.
Aesop’s Cat Fable: THE MICE IN COUNCIL
~~~~~
Once upon a time all the Mice met together in Council, and discussed the best means of securing themselves against the attacks of the cat. After several suggestions had been debated, a Mouse of some standing and experience got up and said, "I think I have hit upon a plan which will ensure our safety in the future, provided you approve and carry it out. It is that we should fasten a bell round the neck of our enemy the cat, which will by its tinkling warn us of her approach."

This proposal was warmly applauded, and it had been already decided to adopt it, when an old Mouse got upon his feet and said, "I agree with you all that the plan before us is an admirable one: but may I ask who is going to bell the cat?"

The mice looked at one another and nobody spoke. Then the old mouse said: "It is easy to propose impossible remedies." =^.^=

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We're glad to hear Finster is eating. Don't let Percey steal his food!

Callie and I went for our walk with Mom this morning in our cat stroller and we saw our yippy/yappy doggie furiend. Him and his human pass by us very quickly on the trail now. I guess they don’t like cats in a stroller. MOL!

Ebony and Sugar Bear spent the night again in the backyard. It was easy for Mom to coax them into the backyard through the garage. Once they hear the can of cat food opening, they run right in.

Sorry for the rush, but that Mom of mine is running late today. I’ll try to get her back on schedule tomorrow.:)

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Callie and I got to spend most of the day yesterday enjoying our backyard. We checked out all the strange cat smells, and they were everywhere! It took a while for Callie and me to finally settle down. Mom always makes us come in at night though, so when she shooed us inside, she opened the garage door to feed our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear. They were in the front yard lying down and came running. But this time, Mom opened the small garage door that leads to the backyard to see if the two cats would follow her. As soon as they heard the can of cat food pop open, they came running. Hooray! Mom shut them in the backyard and sat with them while they ate. Both cats seemed perfectly happy staying the night in the backyard. This just might work.

It’s another sunny day in the low 80’s today. Callie and I are out on the deck, Whitey and Orangie are in the window and Ebony and Sugar Bear are sleeping on top of their new cathouse in the front yard. A nice relaxing Sunday!

We always hide when we have company too. Yogi and Rosie are awfully brave!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers and something to make you laugh or groan. :)

"Did you ever practice Gohomoeopathy?" the Birds inquired, winking faintly.

The Cat took the hint and his leave. =^.^=

Why Cats Have Fur =^.^=
~~~~~
In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth. On the fifth day he created the cat but, unlike today, the cat was without fur.
This was fine for awhile; it was cool in the summer and easy to keep clean. Plus there were no problem with hair balls.
After a while, other animals with fur started to tease this hairless creature. They would sing, "Ha, ha, the hairless cat, the hairless cat is ugly and fat!"
"Oh how beautiful the other animals are with their colorful coats of fur," thought the hairless cat.
But soon the cat forgot the taunts and was proud again, for it was beautiful in its own way.
Then winter came and it got cold. The cat tried to keep warm; he curled up under bushes and with other animals, but was not as warm as his friends.
When the cat tried to find warm places to stay, he was never able to get comfortable and was always getting bumps and scratches.
One cold night as the cat was curled up under a bush and staring at the sky, a rabbit came by.
"Why are you so sad, cat?" asked the bunny.
"I have no fur and I am ugly and cold." replied the cat.
The rabbit cuddled next to the cat and whispered to him in his ears, "If you wish on a shooting star, and believe, your wish can come true."
Just about that time a star glimmered across the sky and the cat knew what to do. The cat closed his eyes tightly and said, "I wish, I wish I had fur and also all other cats of the world had beautiful coats of fur like other animals."
The cat opened his eyes just in time to see the star vanish behind the moon.
A few seconds later the moon began to glow as brightly as the sun and cats all over the world came out of hiding to see the bright light. As the light faded, fur began to grow on the cat. Within minutes the cat and all other cats had beautiful coats of fur. Some long, some short, and of different colors. From then on, the cat was not teased or cold. And the fur also protected the cat from injuries.
This is why cats have fur.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
My Mom let our outside fursibs, Ebony & Sugar Bear, out of the backyard this morning and they were very happy. Sugar Bear was running and playing in the front yard because that’s where all the birds in the trees like to hang out. Ebony sat on the driveway for a while and then he hopped on top of the new cathouse to lie down. Mom was very happy. Today she is leaving the main garage door open and the small door in the garage open that leads to the backyard, so she can practice chasing them into the backyard. Mom just wants them to remember it’s a safe place. Of course, Callie and I still can’t go into the backyard while all the doors are open, but we know we’ll be able to soon.
We did get a light drizzle of rain yesterday, but today the sun is back out and it’s kind of humid. Callie and I are catnapping in the bay windows and Whitey & Orangie are getting their beauty sleep in the upstairs bedroom window. It’s a quiet Friday here. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
My Mom was able to get Ebony into his carrier and take him to the vet today. Ebony didn’t put up a fight at the vet like last time. He growled a little, but that was it! Mom held him on the exam table while he got the rest of his shots and the vet was able to run her hands over his body to feel for any abnormalities. Ebony’s blood work came back good too. Ebony is a healthy cat! My Mom is going to keep him and Sugar Bear in the backyard for another day so they can relax after a hectic day.
I’m running late with my blogs, so I’ll meow at you again tomorrow. We hope and pray Finster starts gaining weight.
How Pussy Willows Got their Name
~~~~~
Many springtimes ago, according to an old Polish legend, tiny kittens had been chasing butterflies at the river's edge and fell in. The mother cat, helpless to save them, started crying. The willows at the river's edge swept their long graceful branches into the water - the kittens gripped on tightly to the branches and were rescued.

Each springtime since, goes the legend, willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds where the tiny kittens once clung. =^.^=

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Ah, thanks for sending some of your magic angel dust for my Mom and Ebony. You're the best! We have our paws crossed that Rosie and Percey settle down soon. They will. Your house is filled with a lot of love and patience!

My Mom took Callie and me for our walk this morning and we spotted two deer running through the brush. It was so nice to know they are still around. Mom always fills up the bucket by the empty creek with water and it’s always empty. So maybe the deer are drinking it!

We are actually expected to get some rain tomorrow! Whoo hoo! Only about ¼ of an inch, but we’ll take whatever we can get. My Mom is all set to take Ebony to the vet in the morning. Ebony is back to letting Mom pet him and last night he even purred while she combed his fur. Ebony really likes canned tuna, so Mom is going to use that to hopefully get him into the cat carrier without a fuss.

Whitey and Orangie are doing fine, catnapping in the upstairs bedroom window since it’s not too warm today.

Why Don't Cats Wash Before They Eat?
~~~~~
As legend goes, the cat once caught a mouse and was about to eat the tasty little morsel when the mouse chided the cat for her bad manners. "What?" cried the mouse, "You're going to eat me without first washing your face and hands?"
The mortified cat immediately dropped the mouse and began washing, and the clever little mouse quickly ran away.
Ever since, cats have not washed up before dinner. =^.^=
Hi ANgel Rhuby & family!
We’re expecting a day with temps in the 80’s, but this morning when our Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller, it was actually a little chilly outside. Could autumn be on the way? We sure hope that means rain sometime soon.
My Mom put new kitty litter in all our boxes and she washed and fluff dried all our blankets and bed covers. Ummm, it feels nice to roll in the laundry basket right out of the dryer.
Our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear are doing fine. My Mom is going to try to get Ebony to the vet on Thursday. Ebony seems to have forgiven Mom for now. Now Mom just needs to stay calm and not scare Ebony with her nervous vibes. MOL! Callie and I can always tell when our Mom is going to try something we don’t want. We can read her like a book. Let’s hope Ebony can’t. Keep your paws crossed.:)
How To Check The Weather Forecast
~~~~~
To tell the weather, go to your back door and look for the dog.

If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it's probably raining. But if the dog is standing there really soaking wet, it is probably raining really hard.

If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed the wrong way, it's probably windy.

If the dog has snow on his back, it's probably snowing.

Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather.

Sincerely, The CAT =^.^=

Rosie and Percey sound a lot like Callie and Whitey. I think it's just going to take some time. Callie and Whitey can pass each other in the hallway now with just growls. Before, they couldn't even pass by each other without lashing out. We'll keep our paws crossed for Percey and Rosie.

The vacuum monster was let loose again today, so we’ve all been hiding out in the bedroom under the bed, until the monster comes in here. Then it’s every cat for himself. MOL!

The temperature outside has cooled off to the mid-eighties. Our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar are still in our backyard. My Mom needs to take Ebony back to see the vet sometime this week. She’s not looking forward to it, but Ebony is back to rubbing against her legs, so it looks promising.

"Cats are less loyal than dogs, but more independent." (This is code. It means: "Cats are smarter than dogs, but they hate people.") Many people love cats. From time to time, newspapers print stories about some elderly widow who died and left her entire estate, valued at $3,200,000, to her cat, Fluffkins. Cats read these stories, too, and are always plotting to get named as beneficiaries in their owners' wills. Did you ever wonder where your cat goes when it wanders off for several hours? Not only is there always another good animal
in need of a good home,
but we must remember to be thankful
for the time and love our animals give us
while they are here.
Take time to enjoy them and learn from them.
As painful as it is to lose them,
they teach us to love unselfishly,
they teach us to live each day to the fullest,
they teach us to grow old gracefully,
and they teach us to die with dignity.
We do them disrespect
to focus only on the sorrow of their death
when they have given us so much joy through their life.
If we wish to honor them,
take what they have given us,
all that love,
and give it back to another animal

We won’t be online tomorrow on Saturday. My pawrents are going to a memorial service for a friend who recently passed away. We’ll be back on Sunday.

We are having another heat wave with temps in the 90’s. It should start to cool off after today. I believe that the loss of a beloved companion animal
is like no other loss
because our relationships with animals are like no other.
Our culture tells us that an animal companion is an engaging toy,
and that our grief over its death is alarming and ill-paced.
And our culture is just flat wrong.
As a survivor of advanced cancer myself,
I believe that the love and comfort of animals
in great measure graced me with recovery.
This being the case,
I would not be one to take kindly
to any cultural diminishment of our relationship with 'the other.'
Bluntly put, 'Them's fightin' words' in my world.
Animals are more to us than we know.
Their partnership with us is a holy one

The Few, The Proud......The Dogs of 9/11
~~~~~
A quote from a ground zero witness:
“Urban Search and Rescue dogs that were deployed at Ground Zero included Australian shepherds, German shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Border Collies, Portuguese Water Dogs, Belgian Malinois, Giant Schnauzers, and even Rat Terriers. What a dog could do with its nose was invaluable in the search. What a dog could do with its heart was equally invaluable.”
The dogs were able to lift the spirits of stressed workers. Cops and firemen, as well as the handlers, took great comfort from the dogs at a time when they battled exhaustion, despair, and stress. One account states: “It was beyond amazing what a licking tongue could do to lift a crushed human spirit, restoring morale to discouraged and depressed workers at Ground Zero”
Most of these wonderful dogs are gone now, but a few are still with us today as we pause to remember all the victims, and all the heroes of September 11, 2001. Never has man had a truer, finer friend than a dog. Today we offer them the honor and respect they deserve. Friends. Warriors. Rescuers. God bless them all, and a prayer of thanksgiving to Him for gifting us with such wonderful creatures.
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Today was Petco Day and our Mom came home with everything on our list. She bought a couple of bags of some new Temptations called “Tumblers.” The bag says, “Now you can roll, toss or bounce delicious treats for your cats!” I don’t know about all of that, but we had fun eating them! Mom also got some catnip cat toys, mainly for our outside fursibs, but we got some too. Sugar Bear really loves doing the bunny-kick with her Cosmic Catnip Banana. Ebony is still aloof towards Mom after the trip to the vet, but he is slowing getting closer to her again when she sits out in the backyard with them.
What would I do without you,
My precious, furry friend?
Part mischief, but all blessing,
And faithful to the end!
You look at me with eyes of love;
You never hold a grudge . . .
You think I'm far too wonderful
To criticize or judge.
It seems your greatest joy in life
Is being close to me . . .
I think God knew how comforting
Your warm, soft fur would be.
I know you think you're human,
But I'm glad it isn't true . . .
The world would be a nicer place
If folks were more like you!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Callie and I were out for our stroller walk with Mom this morning. We still take water to fill up the always empty bucket by the dried up creek, but we haven’t seen any deer in a long time. The walking trail is usually deserted in the morning, but the past few days we’ve been passing a lady walking her small dog that likes to yip and yap at us. The lady scolded her dog for barking at a baby stroller, so Mom had to tell her it’s a cat stroller carrying two big cats. MOL! Now the lady and her doggie run by us. Mom has a good laugh when we see them!
Today the vacuum monster is let loose. We got a reprieve from it yesterday cuz Mom was too busy with the outside cats. So today we are all hiding out together. Whitey and Orangie are doing fine. Callie still doesn’t like them much, but Callie can pass them on the stairs without growling too much. And of course when the vacuum monster is out, we are all united as one under the bed. MOL!
Our outside fursibs are doing okay in the backyard. Ebony is still mad at Mom for taking him to the vet yesterday, but late last night before we went to bed, Ebony took a Temptation treat from Mom’s hand. Baby steps!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Good mews! My Mom got our outside fursib Ebony into the cat carrier this morning and took him to the vet. Ebony got his first round of vaccinations and some blood work done, but he put up a fight. When it was all over, Ebony had gotten a bite of my Mom’s hand. But it’s not bad and the vet cleaned her hand up and bandaged it. My Mom is just sad that Ebony was so frightened. My Mom has to bring Ebony back to the vet in ten days for the rest of his shots, so Mom is going to keep him and Sugar Bear locked up in the backyard until then. Thanks for all your well wishes and support. CC furiends are the best!
It’s a nice quiet Sunday with temperatures in the mid-eighties. We can’t go out in the backyard yet because Ebony and Sugar Bear are still there. Humph! But that’s okay. Callie and I are sunning in the bay windows. Plus we’ve all been getting more treats than usual lately, so I can’t complain.
My Mom actually got to pet both Ebony and Sugar Bear after she fed them this morning. Both cats have stopped trying to escape. The cat fence in the backyard really passed the test! Mom was afraid they might hurt themselves, but thankfully they didn’t.
Have a nice Sunday with your family! Yummy! Sausages and spinach in a garlic sauce! Your Mom is a great chef!
Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Hee, hee, hee! Rosie sounds a lot like my fursister Callie - an angry lady! Don't tell her I said that! Rosie and Callie need to "chill out!" Is a "cat comb" like a brush for your fur? I hope you get one for Christmas dear furiends.
We’re pawing by to wish you a wonderful weekend. Not too much time to meow today:( My Mom still has not gotten our outside fursib, Ebony into the cat carrier, but both Sugar Bear and Ebony are slowly getting used to being confined in our backyard for now. My Mom feels by Monday, she’ll win back Ebony’s trust and be able to coax him into the cat carrier with some tasty treat.
A Place in Heaven =^.^=
~~~~~
Is there a place in Heaven
Where furry companions go
Before I'd want to go there
I'd really need to know

A being pure of spirit
And a being without sin
Is surely one that should be there
But does God let him in?

The theologians argue
A soul is what they lack
But one who's always there for you
Should be given something back

I could not face eternity
Without paws and tails
And if that's what religion thinks
Then that is where it fails

I hope God doesn't let me down
I'm sure He knows their worth
For we who have been loved by them
Have Heaven here on Earth!

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Well, my Mom wasn’t able to get our new outside fursib Ebony into a cat carrier yet, but she hasn’t given up. My Mom is going to keep Ebony and Sugar Bear in our backyard for a couple more days, giving them time to settle down a little. The construction on the street is almost over, so things are starting to quiet down again and that might help. Our vet was nice enough to tell Mom to bring Ebony in any time.

In the meantime, Callie and I got to go for our cat stroller walk this morning, but we can’t go outside while Ebony and Sugar Bear are staying there. My Mom recently put up a nice outdoor cathouse for them on the side of the house to sleep in, but they are still getting used to it. They are both very wary of anything new.

We hope Rosie sees how much fun Percey and Mitzi have, and maybe Rosie will try to be nicer. We hope your Mom comes back from PetSmart with lots of goodies!

The animals are more ancient than us.
They were here for millennia before humans surfaced on the earth.
Animals are our ancient brothers and sisters.
They enjoy a seamless presence –
a lyrical unity with the earth.
Animals live outside in the wind,
in the waters, in the mountains, and in the clay.
The knowing of the earth is in them.
The Zen-like silence and thereness of the landscape
is mirrored in the silence and solitude of animals.
Animals know nothing of Freud, Jesus, Buddha,
Wall Street, the Pentagon, or the Vatican.
They live outside the politics of human intention.
Somehow they already inhabit the eternal.

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Oh your poor Mom! We hope Rosie didn't hurt your Mom too bad. I know we never really mean to hurt our pawrents.

We have our internet back today, but there is still construction going on, putting the sidewalk back together. It looks like quite a mess, but the construction guys said they should be finished today.

My Mom still has our outside fursibs locked up in the backyard. It has a cat fence all around the yard so they can’t get out, although they tried yesterday. It took a while for my Mom to get them settled down. They both finally fell asleep on top of the doghouse. (Which is my favorite stop to catnap!) While my Mom has them both confined in the backyard, she is going to try to get Ebony into a cat carrier so she can take him to the vet for a check up and vaccinations. Keep your paws crossed.

Hi Angel Rhuby!
We’re not able to use our internet right now because the phone company is working on the lines on our street. They’re digging up the sidewalk and it’s a mess. Mom is at the library right now using their computer. It has been years since my Mom has used the library. She is amazed at how high-tech it is.

Our outside fursibs have been scared by all the noise so Mom lured Ebony and Sugar Bear into the backyard this morning where they are safe right now. We have been watching them from the backyard sliding glass door, wondering who they are and why we can’t go outside. MOL! Hope to be back up soon.

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Great news that Percey is doing so well. We are all pleasingly plump around here, except for me of course. MOL!

Happy Labor Day! My pawrents had their celebration BBQ yesterday. There were too many people over at house, so us cats hid out in the master bedroom all day! Not much of a celebration for us. My Mom did get us all lots of treats though.

Our new outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear are still recovering too, from all the company yesterday. The two cats were late for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. My Mom was walking all over the neighborhood, calling out for them. They both finally came back, but are still a little wary after all the commotion. Good thing my pawrents don’t entertain a lot! MOL!

Animals serve as conduits for people
to fulfill their primal need for connection to nature.
The animals in a home may be a person’s only
and deepest source of unconditional love.
Millions of people need this kind of love –
love without judgment, artifice, or stinginess –

Animals bridge the gap between our hearts and minds.
As became apparent after Hurricane Katrina and other disasters,
many people will die rather than lose a relationship

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
We saw the pictures of Percey on FB. She is beautiful! She looks so tiny!

Not too much going on for us today. Mom and Dad left us alone to go grocery shopping this morning, but no Petco stop until tomorrow. My sisters and I are working on our shopping lists.

I guess you could say I’m becoming a certified ‘Lap Cat’. My Mom didn’t like the way I was always trying to fluff up her legs though, so she brought out a nice, flat pillow for her lap. It took me a few minutes, but I gave it my paw of approval. I even almost fell asleep, until I was rudely awakened by my Dad’s thunderous laughter from something on the television. Dad needs to work on his quiet voice. MOL!

Our outside fursib, Sugar Bear, let my Mom get close enough to get a good look at her nose. It looks like the antibiotics did the job. She still has a scab on her nose, but it looks to be peeling and getting smaller. Mom’s hoping Sugar Bear just scraped her nose on something really bad, it got infected, and now it’s healing.

Have a nice, relaxing Saturday with your family.

Hi Angel Rhuby & family!
Hooray for Percey! She decide to join in on the family fun! Now if she'll just start eating a bit more. We have our paws crossed!

It’s going to be another hot one here today with temps in the nineties. My Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller this morning and it was already warm outside at 6 a.m. We left some water in our bucket down by the empty creek, but we haven’t seen any deer for quite a while. We hope it’s just because we are walking later, now that Dad is back at work.

Whitey and Orangie are doing fine, both already catnapping in the upstairs window. Our outside fursibs, Sugar Bear and Ebony, were waiting for Mom this morning to feed them. Last night my Mom saw them both sitting on top of the new cat house that Mom set up for them. Mom is hoping to see them go inside the cat house soon. Right now they are both a little wary of it. Sugar Bear has stated meowing at Mom again when she brings their food out, but still not letting Mom touch her yet.
