How We Met

So I decided to get out of the house for awhile and I met Scott at our local watering hole. We were trying to plan what time we were going to the shelter tomorrow to see this adorable kitten I found, I decided if she likes me she's coming home.

One of the bar patrons is talking about a homeless person who is out sidewalk beating up a newspaper machine. So we go for a look. Nothing to see so we decide to take advantage of the night air and we stay outside on the patio to do a little people watching.

Frank is a regular face of the homeless population down here. He is constantly getting asked to leave businesses because he asks for spare change or cigarettes and gets to be a pest. Being downtown for these past two years hasn't turned me against the homeless because so many are mentally ill. But I digress...

So Frank is doing his usual stick and asking everyone for a cig or a light. He gets brushed off and starts to make his way down the street when I notice something hanging of of his left shoulder. It looked like a t-shirt crumpled and laying there so flat. I turned to Scott and said, "Does he have a kitten? What, no way. Yeah it is. Babe he can't have a kitten he can't even feed himself". Scott broke his foot, so he can't run. I took off yelling at Frank, "Hey, hey!" Scott sends Toby (a good friend) in hot pursuit. We catch up to him and Toby asked, " Hey man, where'd you get the cat?" Frank told us he found it. Toby says, "Give it to Brenda". Here comes the interview with Frank, "Well do you have a home for it?" YEAH "Well how do I know your take good care of him?" My half - cocked smile and my wrinkled forehead said it all. "Are you serious? Am I really having an interview with a homeless guy about adopting a cat??! I promise I'll take excellent care of him" For real people, this is a crazy marketing plan for the SPCA give a small animal to a homeless guy- EVERY SINGLE ONE WILL GET ADOPTED.

I took him to my girlfriends apartment since she was closest and we fed him. He dove in head first, I suprised that he didn't bite himself. Off to my place we go I gave him a bath twice, we picked off the buhrs and cleaned his ears. Hey no fleas no ear mites no blood! Right on! His little toes were scraped up a bit but we can handle that.
