Hi Zachary & Fursibs Another scorcher today..we hit the mid 80's again. It was 90* yesterday and this is only May, can't imagine what July will be like. They keep calling for rain, but it never comes, so mom keeps waterin' the flowers outside. We do not like the hose, so we come upstiars when she does that, she doesn't get us wet, but we are afraid the water will get us anyway. Mom is all done painting her dresser and vanity in her room. She ordered a new white chest of drawers yesterday. Mom ordered a new headboard last month and it is white, so instead of replacing all the furniture in her bedroom, she painted it all white, but the chest of drawers is so damaged and the drawers are falling apart, so she ordered a new one. Thanks also for my COTD win and my birthday wishes and gifts. I know this is late, but with 6 kitties, mom is usually behind with our blogs. I was pleasantly purr-prised by my COTD win, I was not expecting that at all. Thank you!!! Hope you have a pawsome evening! Please vote Rosie #252822 for COTD on Monday, 5/20 Recently a cat loving family had their red female cat, Angel Rhuby cross over the Rainbow Bridge. The cat mom of this family decided she would like to adopt another red female and as luck would have it, there was Rosie at the Petsmart Adoption Center. Rosie #252822 and her new mom bonded instantly and Rosie came to her new home that day. Rosie was at the shelter for over two months and was a bit wild. She didn't like being kept in a cage and would fight with the shelter workers when they tried to put her back in her cage. This was a big reason why Rosie #252822 wasn't adopted sooner; she was scared and the people looking at her were not patient with her until her new mom came along. Now at her new home Rosie #252822 is a cuddle cat with her daddy and loves to play with her brother Yogi. She gets along with the rest of her furry siblings and is a happy cat. Rosie #252822 will not eat dry food but she will eat any kind of wet food. She doesn't like dry treats either! Rosie loves to play with her furry mouse and the laser light. Rosie #252822 is happily spoiled now in her new home and we are very happy she has found a wonderful loving home. Rosie would be so honored to have a COTD badge to display on her page. Please visit Rosie #252822 on Monday, 5/20, and leave a vote for her so she can proudly have her own shiny COTD badge. While making the rounds of visits on the CC, please go visit our May catpaigner for COTM, Whiskers #227256, and give his votey button a good whack so he can add your vote to his collection to become our King of June. Also, please visit our Queen of May, Queen Spunky #161265, and let her know we are all thinking of her and her family. This is Sienna and family along with Linguini and family leaving each of you a big bouquet of May wildflowers along with some homegrown catnip to munch on instead of the flowers. Thank you for supporting our COTD candidates. Wishing you all peace and love and purrsCome visit me, Sienna - Vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM, Winslow ♥ Boo Kitty- Whiskers 227256 COTM & Alexi - Vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM.

~RAINBOW SCOOP-May 17, 2013~ From the cloud desk of Angel Sherman….Please vote ACOTD for ANGEL CRASH #248838! This sweet kitty joined the angels in February 2013 after losing his battle with complications that developed after being hit by a car the month before. He’d survived having both legs broken & surgery, but was unable to walk & had to drag himself to the litterbox. He was very brave & stayed a very sweet boy during all of the pain, infections, examinations & becoming a foster; but the angels knew that his life would not be a full one with his disabilities & thus called him home. Please pounce by to paw ANGEL CRASH #248838 a vote today so that his foster mom will have a fond memory to cherish & so that this sweet angel can earn the honor of making his star the most brilliant in the night sky tomorrow night. Congratulations to our newest royal cat QUEEN SPUNKY #161265!! Your campaign about the details of cat shows was stupendous & we learned a lot about how things work for the fabulous show cats. We’re looking forward to some California sunshine during May as you reign from your house on the beach & look forward to hearing more letters to God from beloved pets. Have a great time as our new queen & thank you for an enchanting campaign month. Congratulations to our new COTM nominee WHISKERS #227256!! We’ve been keeping a close watch on you sweet boy because you’re one of those special kitties that bring out the best in all the others whose lives you touch. We’re looking forward to seeing everything you have in store for us while you’re on the campaign trail. PLEASE VOTE KAYLIN #251700 for COTD MAY 6th Please paw by & meet this beautiful Champagne Point Tonkinese kitty. KAYLIN #251700 is not just a beautiful face she is also a CFA Champion & a Mom. She was hand picked for her new parents by her sister Wendy's breeder when she found out how sick Wendy was. But this sweet girl was already a mom so her new parents had to wait to bring her home. All of her kitties found their furever homes & then she had her Big Girl surgery. She was finally able to come to her new home in January. She wasn't sure if she wanted to stay at first, but her new parents gave her lots of love & support so we are happy to report she is settling in quite nicely. KAYLIN #215700 spends her days hanging out on Mom & Dads laps, playing with her toys, & napping in the sun. She also likes to tear through the apartment at top speed and has been known to do it in the middle of the night too. Her most favorite things to eat are the Roast Chicken, that she shares with her parents, and her Blue food. She Loves to make new friends so won't you please stop and give KAYLIN #251700 your vote and make a new friend. We give our Heartfelt Thanks To Queen Trixie #172636 who brought us a magnificent two months of wonderful animal stories, fun and zoo adventures as our April Queen. We congratulate Queen Spunky #161265 and invite you to visit her at the castle during the month of May. Please paw by daily and give your support to Whiskers #227256 on his quest to become our June COTM. Thank you for your continued support of the CMR Special Recognition Campaigns and our outstanding candidates! ~Queen Trixie's final day in 'office'~ April 30th Hello & happy Tuesday every kitty! This is the last day that I’ll be meowing to you from the Queen’s chair so my big sis & head chef, Patches, has whipped up a banquet that will amaze your senses & tantalize your taste buds as my way of thanking all the sweet kitties that pounced by this month. At dawn tomorrow we’ll be vacating the cabin with our royal mementos & will say farewell to the beautiful wooded area that I've called my home for an entire month. All kitties that have visited are suggested to make sure everything they brought along has been reclaimed because once I pack away the royal gowns I’ll no longer be responsible for my actions & anything missing may never be seen by you again...MOL...but until then I must remain as dignified as possible & therefore I call my royal criers forth & hand them the final royal decree to announce: ♕ ♕ HEAR YE, HEAR YE ♕ ♕ ~*~All CC kitties are hereby cordially invited to attend the coronation of Queen Spunky #161265 on Wednesday May 1st, 2013~*~ ~*~ Time: 7am PT/10am ET on the CMR page #46883~*~ ~*~This gala event will be held at the HONEYWELL CENTER in Wabash, IN in the Honeywell Room (see pics in my gallery) & will be followed by a roller skating party at their skating rink, where music, skates & the use of the party room are all included. All food will be provided by Honeywell’s famous catering service so come hungry & loosen up those leg muscles for a day of roller skating fun as I say Bon Voyage to royal duties!!~*~ *Formal dress is optional for the coronation ceremony but I highly recommend a change of comfortable clothes for skating if you plan to stay for the party afterward.* //////////////////////////////////////////////////- /////////////////// After the pawty is over it’s just a short 14 miles to my home where I’ll unpack & settle back into civilian life with happy, cherished memories to dream about while I take a short break from the blogging scene. Not to worry though because one of my magnificent siblings will pounce into action…& I’m sure they’ll exaggerate my antics like they usually do…MOL! Thank you for being so supportive sweet kitties & I’ll see you bright & early tomorrow morning! Vote COTD 4/29 COLT, WINCHESTER & KIMBER #251320 This week’s special recognition candidates were found on the side of a road near a wooded area when they were barely old enough to fend for themselves. Their guardian angel was working hard that day & led their new mom to the right spot where she picked up the three mewing furballs & took them home. These precious sibs have stolen the hearts of many CC members by mom’s picture postings on FB & it’s pawsome being able to watch them grow up here in our loving community. Colt and Winchester love to talk to calm Kimber down because she’s very shy, unlike her more outgoing sibs. They love to play with their mouse toys & frequently pick on their bigger sibs throughout the day to see how much they can get away with. You can often find this rambunctious trio of young felines looking out of the window talking to birds, or playing with their light up ball. They’re snugglers too! They’re often found in the lap of mom or grandpa or you can see them snuggling happily together in their kitty bed. The inseparable trio of COLT,WINCHESTER & KIMBER#251320, are also keeping the house hopping with their energy level so let’s help them bounce off the walls a little more by pouncing by to paw them a COTD vote today, Monday April 29th, so they can earn their very first badge of honor tomorrow! Only two days left for SPUNKY #161265 out on the COTM catpaign trail so please pounce by to paw your votes of support to this beautiful show girl so she can twist through the community next month wearing the crown of May as our Emerald Queen! While you’re pouncing around please remember to leap through the northern Indiana woods to visit our current COTM Queen Trixie #172636 aka the Calico Cyclone, & thank her for the animal tales she spun for us before she turns over the royal reins to future Queen Spunky aka the White Tornado. This is Zaboo/NICE Crew, Sabrina, Duchess & family leaving you a triple berry muffin as our way of thanking you for your support of our fine candidates. ~Queen Trixie's Animal Tales~ April 23rd <> TUESDAY, APRIL 23rd <> TEAM DOTD NEWS, PLEASE VOTE <*^*> SAMMIE 228644 <*^*> WOW…what a surprise for mom to wake up & see our doggie as the DOTD runner for today! If you have a DC profile please paw her a vote & give her a big purr of thanks for working her paws to the bone last month during my catpaign. She spread the word with a happy wag of her tail & lots of slobbery kisses & I really appreciated all the added votes from our sweet doggie pals! She’s definitely deserving of her 2nd badge now that she’s all grown up (she got her first one shortly after joining DC) so I’m happily tooting a horn on her behalf today! Thank you for pouncing by with your support of me this month! Can you believe the last full week of my reign is already here? I’ve been having so much fun with all of you at the Imperial Cabin this month & it’s great to see the tulips & other spring flowers blooming outside of it. I’ve still got some heroic & unusual CC furiends to tell you about though so hold on tight because my spinning isn’t over yet…MOL! Today I’m featuring a very special kitty in our community that many of you know so grab a plate full of scrumptious flavored muffins & catnip coffee prepared by our head chef Patches & aide-de-camp Angel Gracie & I’ll get started meowing about THOMAS #127574! Thomas'Mom was volunteering at a local animal shelter when this little 3 week old kitten was brought in after having been badly abused by some children. The abuse broke his back and resulted in paralysis and no bowel / bladder control. The shelter kept him until he was 12 weeks old & healed an abscess, & because of his incontinence was bathed 2 x/day. They put a cut down litter box in his cage in hopes that he would use it but if he couldn't then he would have been deemed unadoptable and euthanized. Mom fostered him & then adopted him because he was not able to use a litter box, even though he enjoyed rooting around in the litter. Mom had owned a dachshund in the past that ruptured a disc and was paralyzed & a vet taught her how to take care of him, so she knew she could express Thomas' bowels and bladder & take care of him. Sweet Thomas is a true ambassador for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals & I hereby present him with the Queen’s Perseverance Medal for being able to overcome hardships that no baby kitty should ever have to endure! His life is now filled with the love & attention he deserved from the start & is the purrfect ambassador to spread the word because of his purrsonal experience. Thank you Thomas & mom for sharing your story! Have a terrific Tuesday everyone & I’ll meow at you again on Thursday! Sweet purrs & calico kisses, Queen TrixieCome visit me, Q Trixie~Hail to Queen Spunky#161265~, Fluffinella-PLZ vote Whiskers #227256 COTM, Joseph-PLZ vote WHISKERS #227256 daily in May!, Angel Sherman, K Zaboo-PLZ vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM !, Angel Cloudy loves Angel Oscar, Special Memories page & Patches~PLZ vote WHISKERS #227256 daily in May~.

~Queen Trixie's Weekend Trip~ April 20th Happy Caturday everyone!! Are you ready to go on another weekend adventure? I sure am when I look out the windows of the Imperial cabin & see water everywhere, although it is receding! Since all of you really enjoyed the elephant birthday party last weekend I thought I’d give you a little more time with them by flying out of the country to Thailand to spend the entire weekend at the MAESA ELEPHANT CAMP! Thailand’s Maesa Elephant Camp is a privately owned elephant camp less than one hour from Chiang Mai. It is located in an idyllic forested setting with a waterfall welcoming you as you enter. The camp has over 70 elephants and approximately 80 mahouts (the keeper or driver of an elephant). Although technically owned by the camp, most of the elephants go home with the mahout to their villages each night. Food is supplied twice a day for the elephants at the camp. There is a full-time vet – Ronachid who constantly checks on the elephants. The mahouts are also very aware that the elephants must not be abused and they check on each other to make sure the elephants are all treated well. The villagers are able to generate income at the camp by selling bananas and souvenirs to the guests. Everything is very clean and well managed with concern not only for the elephants and the mahouts, but for the environment and surrounding villagers as well. The more controversial part of the experience are the shows that are staged three times a day. Whilst some animal welfare people would claim that this is demeaning to the elephants, they seem perfectly happy and genuinely do look like they are enjoying themselves. Of course it is this enjoyment factor that creates the revenue stream so desperately needed for the camp to carry on its conservation work. The blunt truth of the matter is that without places like this, these animals would face a much tougher existence, most would not survive. The show starts with a grand parade as 20 elephants enter the arena, trumpeting triumphantly whilst their mahouts sit proudly atop. The trainers slide down the trunks to dismount and are lifted gently back up in a display of understanding between man and beast. Elephants can paint, which is something I had heard about but only half believed. The mahouts hand them a paint brush loaded with paint, steer them in front of an easel and away they go. Trees and flowers soon spring into view and the results can be bought at the shop after the show. One, two and three days courses in the care and training of elephants are available. These mahout courses provide visitors with a completely unique experience and memories to last a life time. ~Queen Trixie's Tales~ Thursday April 18th Our thoughts & prayers go out to all the people in West, Texas as an explosion at a fertilizer plant devastated the area around it at about 8 pm last night. Over 160 are injured, at least 3 firefighters are missing & several workers & local residents have already lost their lives in the horrific explosion that registered 2.1 on the Richter scale! Please keep this community in your thoughts & prayers as they continue their search for the missing & try to recover from the shock. I also send out a prayer request for the people of Boston who are still trying to understand why bombs were set off at the end of their world famous marathon on Monday. Law enforcement is working around the clock to find the cowards that did this & our prayers are also with them for their diligence & determination to bring them to justice! It’s going to be another stormy day at the Imperial Cabin later today but right now you couldn’t tell it. The sun is shining & we have a temp of 65 BUT the wind is wickedly strong & we're under a tornado watch!! All cabin visitors are requested to stay inside to avoid any falling limbs/branches! Since it’s too windy to be outside safely I’m going to meow to you about another one of our fabulous CC friends. Grab a spot on the plush carpet or one of the luxurious cat beds around the throne room, grab some snacks from the buffet table (prepared by our head chef Patches & top aide-de-camp Gracie) & turn your attention to today’s tale about CHARLOTTE #196844! The family had an attempted break-in at their house the last week of January. Everyone was asleep when Charlotte jumped up on her mom at about 4:30am meowing very loudly. Mom heard banging & quickly checked to see if her husband was ok since he has medical problems. Nothing wrong there, but the banging continued so she looked out the bathroom window & was shocked to see a man knocking over the garbage cans. She turned on the outside lights, but he didn’t leave, instead he moved to the back door, which leads into the mud room, & started banging on that door. She couldn’t imagine what his intention was & became fearful. The alarm was on at the house so she called 911 & stayed on the line with the dispatcher while he continued banging on the door. Then he managed to push the top window out of the door & entered the mud room by finding the locks & unlocking the door, where he then proceeded to bang on the kitchen door. Just in the nick of time the police arrived at the back of the house & took him down! It turned out that the man was extremely intoxicated & lost but it was a very frightening experience for Charlotte & her mom (luckily dad slept through it) & to this day Charlotte will not go into the mud room, which she previously enjoyed almost daily for a sunbath. I hereby present Charlotte with the Golden Catnip Custer of Heroism for alerting her mom to the danger & thank her for sharing her story. ~Meows from Queen Trixie~ Today is a sad day in our nation as we have once again been attacked! I ask that everyone please observe a moment of silence for those that have lost their lives & to send prayers of healing to those that were injured during the terrible terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon yesterday. Gentle hugs & prayers go out to all the people of Boston as they endure the hardships & grief of this unprovoked & senseless attack. Since this is a very downhearted time for many people in our nation I’d like to try to cheer you up with a couple of heroic doggy tales. The first one is from one of the dogs on DC & the other one is from one of our own precious feline families. MAX PINKOWITZ is a happy 10 year old doggies that was very happy to find his forever home when he was 2. His mom takes him for walks a lot & gets to meet a lot of his doggie friends. Up their street live 2 very aggressive chi pups that weigh about 3 pounds each, which his mom calls ‘killer chis’. If they’re out with their mom they come running toward the street barking like crazy. Last year they were playing outside with their mom when Max & his mom were walking up the street. Max & his mom saw a car coming & then mom was stunned by what happened next! Max went toward the ‘killer’ Chis and blocked them from running into the street!! Mommy was so proud of him because sweet Max saved the chi doggies that day by preventing them from being hit I hereby present Max with the Queen’s Medal of Gallantry for keeping his fellow canines safe from harm. This one is from EDDIE #153057. Once a few years ago when mom was on vacation, she left her motel room to walk about a 1/2 mile to a restaurant. The motel had a porch and when mom went out on the porch to leave she saw a large dog and wondered where he came from but took off as planned. She was curious as the dog followed & on the way they passed a field where there was a very scary man walking toward them. Mom felt safer with that dog right near her & the dog escorted mom to the restaurant then left. Luckily Mom’s walk back was uneventful so mom thinks that God sent along an angel dog that night to keep her safe & is grateful for God's care. We’ll never know this special dog’s name but have to agree that this special canine was indeed a guardian angel sent down to protect mom so that she wouldn’t be harmed by the stranger that thought about approaching her. Thank you for sharing your special stories with me Max & Eddie & thanks to all of you that pounce by to visit me at the Imperial Cabin. I’ll be back again on Thursday to visit you. Please vote Cassandra #205806 for COTD on Mon 4/15 The CMR crew is pleased to introduce to you another Special Recognition Cat: Cassandra #205806 for COTD. We are pawing and pouncing over to ask you to please vote for Cassandra for COTD on Monday, 4/15 (otherwise known as Tax Day in the human's world). Cassandra's full name is Cassandra Lee Brown, which to us sounds like a good name. She was named Cassandra after a book her mommy read about a beautiful lady who had golden green eyes and long black hair. Yes, we would say this suits Cassandra #205806 to a "t". Cassandra is a princess around her home. She is pampered and loves attention especially from her human daddy. Cassandra #205806 is dainty and little, weighing in at only six pounds and is the twin to her brother Montgomery George Brown. They were lucky kitties and both were adopted together into their forever home. When the mood strikes her, Cassandra #205806 can hide in the smallest of places and will close the cupboard door behind her leaving it almost impossible to locate her. Cassandra likes hamburgers from Burger King, cheese and hot dogs. She hates being interrupted from her naps and being ignored by her daddy. Please paw over to visit this sweetheart of a cat, Cassandra #205806 and leave a vote for her so she can proudly display a COTD badge to all who visit her. While you are on the CC, please paw a vote for our newest candidate for COTM, Spunky #161265 who is introducing us all to her adventures and advise about cat shows and the expectations from the cats and the judges. Please continue to visit our April COTM, Queen Trixie #172636 who is continuing to lead us on zoo tours across the world and keeping us informed of the plight of endangered animals and also telling us about hero cats here on our beloved CC. This is Sienna and family along with Linguini and family leaving you fresh roasted spring lamb with lots of catnip sauce and homemade oatmeal cookies for desert, thanking you all for continuing to support our candidates for COTD. Sending purrs and wishing you and your families peace and good health.Come visit me, Sienna - Vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM, Winslow ♥ Boo Kitty- Whiskers 227256 COTM & Alexi - Vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM.

~Queen Trixie's Tales~ Sunday April 14th WAKE UP KITTIES!! It’s time to get cleaned up so we can head to the OKLAHOMA CITY ZOO!! (http://www.okczoo.com) I hope all of you slept well. I know I did even though I’m not used to the noise of a big city. I see that some of you have already bought souvenirs so I hope you brought a large enough bag to carry home those Native American novelties that seemed so popular…MOL! As we’re walking to the zoo I’ll tell you a little about it so you can get right to checking out all of the fabulous habitats. The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is a zoo and botanical garden located in Oklahoma City's Adventure District in northeast Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The zoo covers 119 acres and is home to more than 1,800 animals. In 1902, the Zoo received its first donated animal and opened as a small menagerie. On Labor Day 1903, the Zoo had a formal dedication at Wheeler Park & celebrates 1904 as the Zoo's first full year of business. It is a fully accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Association of Museums as both a living museum and a botanical garden. The Zoo participates in numerous cooperative Species Survival Plan projects and is dedicated to the conservation of rare and endangered wildlife. Awards include being named the Third Best Zoo for kids in the nation in May 2004 by Child magazine after an extensive survey of over 150 zoos belonging to the AZA. In November 2005, the Zoo was named one of five finalists in Microsoft's "America's Favorite Zoo" contest. In 2012, the Zoo was voted the Third Best Zoo in the nation by 10Best.com. Now some of you may be wondering why I planned this on Sunday instead of our usual Saturday trip so now it’s time to spring the surprise. Today is the 2nd birthday of MALEE the baby elephant & the zoo is having a big bash in her honor from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with cake for thousands, party favors for guests and our elephants, and more! The first 5,000 guests will receive a pair of commemorative birthday elephant ears! The celebration kicks off at 1 p.m. in the Zoo’s Global Plaza with free giveaways and delicious treats provided by local bakeries. At 2:15 p.m. (a special time just for the birthday girl,) guests will want a seat at the free daily elephant presentation in the Elephant Habitat’s pavilion as the party continues. Join Zoo staff and News9’s Bobbie Miller in singing “Happy Birthday” to Malee and watch as she blows out the candle on her own cupcake custom made by Johnnies Sweet Creations! After the presentation, watch as all the Zoo’s Asian elephants including adult females Asha, Malee’s mom, Chandra and bull, Rex celebrate with specially made, Zoo-approved cakes courtesy of Johnnies Sweet Creations, in their yards. Pics of the zoo entrance & Malee’s birth announcement are in my gallery! Now that you know let’s go pawty & see if we can get those elephant ears they’re giving away…MOL! Have a pawsome day dear furiends! ~Queen Trixie's Tales~ Sat April 13th Good Morning & happy Caturday kitties! We’re taking another long weekend trip so I hope you packed your overnight bag. The plane is ready & we’ll be taking off toward the Sooner State (Oklahoma) to meet Brina & Sheba before checking into the Best Western hotel located near downtown Oklahoma City. It’s conveniently located near the city's best attractions, food, & entertainment plus has a pool & free wi-fi so we can check in with our pawents when we arrive! Since I’ve got the zoo trip actually planned for tomorrow, because of a special event they’re having, we can spend the day exploring the city. We can walk through history at the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame, explore Bricktown & downtown Oklahoma City, pay our respects at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, enjoy horse racing at Remington Park or visit the Oklahoma State Capital after we arrive. DID YOU KNOW? The state's name is derived from the Choctaw Indian words okla and humma, meaning "red people". Established with a Land Run (April 22, 1899) it was designated a state in 1907, making it just over a hundred years young. Oklahoma is the winter quarters for more circuses than any other state, their state capitol is the only one in the world with an oil well drilled beneath it! From Indian heritage & Viking explorers to land runs & oil booms, Oklahoma has a history unlike any other state. You can check out all they have to offer at http://www.travelok.com. I’ve posted pics of their state flag, which is an Osage warrior shield on a field of blue, with the shield crossed by a peace pipe and an olive branch, plus one of their state seal, which shows a pioneer & an Indian shaking hands beneath the Scales of Justice, centered in a star. (The star's five rays each contain symbols of the Five Civilized Tribes.) Time to board the plane now kitties so pounce on board, fasten your seat belts & get ready for a trip to Oklahoma. On the way I’m going to meow about two more of our special CC furiends but tomorrow I’ll present the Oklahoma Zoo info to you before we leave the hotel. From KC #21110-Mom and Dad had a former feral cat named Mars who once scared off someone who was trying to break in. First they heard her yowl in the basement while they were upstairs. When they started down to investigate they found her sitting on the kitchen table growling at the sliding door. When they investigated they found evidence that someone had first tried getting in the basement window and then started to open the sliding door. They left it open a little, but it seems that Mars' yowl and growl were enough to scare them off! PRINCESS #4817 Princess has a pretty amazing talent too. She knows when her Mom's sugar levels drop too low when Mom is sleeping. She will wake Mom up by purring and meowing very loudly, and then head bonk's Mom's hand. It wakes Mom up really fast when she does that! Hi Zachary It is a rainy, windy and cold day here today in Connecticut. How is your weather? Hopefully it will be nice this weekend because Mom has plans to finish cleaning the backyard. Most of it is done, the patio and furniture was power washed and it looks beautiful. Everything was such a mess after the hurricane and than the snow storm but now it looks great. Mom wants to cut back the flowering srubs and clean out the herb garden and get it ready for planting. Who knows when we will be able to plant anything. Soon we hope. Sending you kitty hugs and whisker kisses. Your furiends, Miles and Angel MaggieCome visit me, Miles & Q. Angel Maggie.

~Queen Trixie's Tales~April 11th ~It’s a shout-out for ERNIE #200361 so please pounce on his votey button today!~ It was a dark & stormy night in my neck of the woods & we lost power in the middle of the night & when we woke up our clocks were all flashing so we were lost in time..MOL! Since it’s so muddy & water is standing everywhere I’ve decided to take a road trip to see the LAPORTE COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM! (http://www.laportecountyhistory.org) It has over 100,000 items on display. Many are family heirlooms brought into the county by the original pioneers. They include furniture, household items, tools, memorabilia, antique toys, rare dolls is on display as well as one of the largest and finest collections of antique weapons. Many products manufactured in the county by local industries are also displayed. Period room settings showcase much of the museum collection. A pioneer log cabin, Victorian parlor with a unique square grand piano, 1920's kitchen, a business office and a dentist office of the past typify this aspect of the museum displays. See the pics in my gallery to catch a glimpse of what we’ll see today but let’s get on board the Calico Express Tour bus & as we motor down the road I’ll meow to you about one of our special CC furiends! SNUGGLES’s #124534 mom is really proud & has learned to trust her magnificent hearing, especially since mom is somewhat hearing impaired. One cold winter night the neighbors lit their wood stoves to keep warm while mom had gone to her bunk bed. Snuggles smelled the smoke & thought something must be wrong so she knew she had to wake her mom up. She tried several time to wake her by putting her nose on hers but she kept pushing her away. Finally she jumped onto the top bunk & jumped down on mom several times until finally the pouncing & nose nudges of Snuggles woke mom up. She smelled the smoke & put Snuggles in a pillow case(she was the only cat at the time), woke up GM & called the fire department. When they came to check it out assumed it was that the smoke from nearby being been drawn in by their heat pump, making Snuggles think the house was in trouble. The fireman said that Snuggles was a true hero for waking up her family! Another time Snuggles also alerted her mom when a neighbor came to the door, which mom didn’t hear. Sweet Snuggles thought he meant trouble and started growling and even pointed like a dog toward the kitchen. This heroic & brave kitty got lots of treats for her actions to protect her mommy & she was very deserving of them! Today I ask her to step to the front of the bus to please accept the award of the Calico Medal of Defense for her exceptional determination to protect her beloved mom more than once. Thanks for pouncing by my unique royal residence this month sweet furiends! Have a terrific Thursday & I’ll see you bright & early on Caturday morning as I head you off to another animal related trip! The Tales of Queen Trixie Hi Zachary Pierre & gang, Happy Tuesday & thanks for stopping by the Imperial Cabin! Okay kitties…today we’re touring my home state a little bit & taking a trip to Michigan City, IN to see the OLD LIGHTHOUSE MUSEUM! At the bend of Trail Creek in the Michigan City harbor stands an historic old structure whose beacon served as a guiding light for Great Lakes sailors for more than 100 years. Michigan City's well-lighted port has a long and interesting history, bound to Lake Michigan with all its mysteries and beauties. Michigan City's first light was a simple "postlight"( lantern on a tall pole) located approximately 100 feet west of the present lighthouse. In 1837, Jeremy Hixon, Sr. and his son were contracted by the U.S. Government to build a permanent lighthouse in Michigan City. That structure consisted of a keeper's dwelling with a 40 foot high whitewashed tower topped with a lantern to house the light. As shipping in Michigan City increased, primarily grain and lumber, a brighter light was needed to guide ships into the busy port. In 1858, the U.S. Government constructed a lighthouse using Joliet stone for the foundation and Milwaukee or "Cream City" bricks for the superstructure. On November 20, 1871, the first beacon light was installed on the east pier. (http://www.oldlighthousemuseum.org) The Old Lighthouse Museum opened officially on June 9, 1973 & has guided tours Tues-Sun from 1-4pm so that’s where we’re going today kitties! I’d originally planned to meow to you about another of our CC furiends while we’re traveling on the Cyclone Express bus today but I’ll do that on Thursday instead since this article about my home state caught my eye this morning. ~Dachshund Adopts Abandoned Kittens~ In a story originally shared by Fox 59 in Indianapolis, four kittens were born on the front porch of a local couple, right before an early spring blizzard brought more than nine inches of snow to the area. The couple found the kittens alone and brought them inside to care for them. Little did they know it would be their Dachshund, JOJO, who would do much of the caretaking! The dog immediately took over mothering duties, including producing milk to nurse the kittens. The couple told Fox 59 that JoJo “acts as if she birthed them herself.” The kittens, who are all boys, are named Poseidon, Hephaestus, Pan and Zephyr, also known as the “blizzard kittens.” They’ll be available for adoption when they’re old enough. Now that’s another true awww moment! They have their own FB page but for those that don’t go there I’ve also posted pics in my gallery so you can also get that warm fuzzy feeling from seeing this pawtastic doggie with her ‘kitty pups’. This family gets the Calico award of excellence for cuteness! *Please remember to pounce by & put a vote into SPUNKY’S #161265 collection dish in California each day while you’re roaming CC!* Sweet calico kisses & a vote, Queen TrixieCome visit me, Q Trixie~Hail to Queen Spunky#161265~, Fluffinella-PLZ vote Whiskers #227256 COTM, Joseph-PLZ vote WHISKERS #227256 daily in May!, Angel Sherman, K Zaboo-PLZ vote Whiskers #227256 for COTM !, Angel Cloudy loves Angel Oscar, Special Memories page & Patches~PLZ vote WHISKERS #227256 daily in May~.

Hi Zachary! 'stuff' has been happening around here! So much, that I am way behind on my blogs! First, thanks on the well wishes for mom's mother...she is now out of rehab as of this past Wednesday, and at home. Then mom spent a lot of time deleting pages and making mew ones...the woman just can't make up her mind! Changes were also made in the cat enclosure! Dad shut off the down stairs part so he could plant some grass in it,but the boys are NOT happy about it! Brother Dixion is no longer confined to the enclosure,as he was so unhappy,he was getting very depressed and aggressive to the others,so mom let him out. Andy(inside boy) kept dashing out the door so much that mom let him GO!,because she feared he would trip her or dad up trying to escape! Now,we live out in the country, and WAY off the road, otherwise mom would never have let them out. Now,about little Moses, the new kitten dad rescued...mom convinced dad that it would be best to find him a good home...other than ours! WHY? Mom really worries about having so many kitties, that if anything ever happened to her or dad,we(shudder)would wind up in a shelter. Most of us are not so young anymore,so you know what THAT would mean,(another Shudder!) I AGREE with mom...no more kits here!! Second, mom has an appointment with an orthopedic doc,as it seems she might have a torn meniscus in her right knee. She has had that surgery on the left,so knows the drill! Sorry for being so long-winded today,so I will wish you a happy Sunday and I am going to take a nap!~Purrs,BartCome visit me, My Avatars, Bart & The Outside Boys, Charlie ♥ Raven.......The Enclosure Boys & Gypsy & The Inside Cats.

HAPPY APRIL.... hello to all and welcome April and FINALLY looks like SPRING HAS SPRUNG for us here. Mommie was just about to go packing her bags for some place called KOKOMO because that has been all she has been singing for WEEKS!! Said that is where we all want to go to get away from it all!! She had a great birthday although it was NOT like it was this time last year when the weather was very warm and nice and sunny. It was COLD and DAMP and RAINY!! But the past two or three days have loosened up and boy is it going to get really warm the next few days too. Mommie is very pleased!! Yesterday was her and Poppies wedding anniversary too. Mommie said they have ben together for 28 long years. Wow that is many days and nights with the same person. But I hope I spend that many more years here with them and even more too. Mommie was down at my human sisters though so she and Poppie didnt get to spend it together. My human sister is making arrangements for a GIANT pool for the summer. Mommie said just more headaches and worries with the two Grand babies but hopefully the way they are fencing it in and putting gates and locks on it will be safe. 30 foot is mighty big around and 4 and a half foot deep. Mommie said it would come to her chin and she hoped she could feel the bottom because she never learned to swim but maybe in this pool she will be able to at least learn the doggie paddle. Well I want to thank all of you who voted me once again for the COTD on April first, and for those who also sent me well wishes on my adoptiversary on March 31st as well. I have been here for 6 years now and Mommie says she wishes it was just the beginning again because she hates seeing me grow up and getting older. Well, Mommie says time to move along so I guess that will end my blog catching up for the day. Love to you all and thanks again...... Love---KiWi KaTT (The KEESTER)Come visit me, KiWi KaTT (The KEESTER).

~Queen Trixie's Tantalizing Animal Tales~April 6th Wake up sweet kitties because the sun is coming up & Zaboo has the bus warmed up for everyone since it’s still rather chilly here in the woods. It’s supposed to warm up to the mid-60s today with some windy conditions, but hopefully we’ll be able to shed our jackets as we head south toward the center of my home state to visit the smaller than you’re used to, yet very nice & extremely friendly, INDIANAPOLIS CHILDRENS’ ZOO! (http://www.indyzoo.com) I was going to take you to the Ft. Wayne zoo since it’s closer to my cabin but found out their official opening day isn’t until the 20th. You’d think that getting a request from a queen would prompt them to open early but no such luck! Hmmm…guess they don’t take orders well from animals…MOL! Well off we go kitties!! Anyone not awake in time to catch the bus will be stuck gathering firewood for our bonfire tonight so you’d better get your paws pouncing because Zaboo is revving the engine & is ready to go! Don’t forget to paw SPUNKY #161265 her daily vote before we go so that she can wear her own crown next month as our May queen! The Indianapolis Zoo was the first attraction triple accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the American Association of Museums as a zoo, an aquarium and a botanic garden. The Indianapolis Zoo is located in White River State Park downtown, and since opening in 1964, it has grown into a world-class facility hosting a million visitors each year and playing a major role in worldwide conservation and research, including accomplishing the world’s first successful artificial insemination of an African elephant. White River Gardens is part of the Zoo and continues its tradition of connecting animals, plants, and people. This stunningly beautiful 3.3-acre landmark botanical attraction combines the best of gardening ideas, plant information and inspirational design to serve the needs of all visitors. At the Zoo, you can visit each of their five biomes: Encounters, Forests, Oceans, Deserts and Plains. The newly redesigned Encounters Biome features the Flights of Fancy: A Brilliance of Birds exhibit that features family-friendly, interactive exhibits and amenities — including a 4D Theater (currently showing Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs), a Nursing Moms' Nest, feeding opportunities in two different aviaries, and a charming little Tots Treehouse play area. You’ll also enjoy the shows, the shark touch pool, Race a Cheetah, White River Junction Train ride, & the Carousel, (which features many different hand carved animals), & the Kombo Family Coaster! It’s not a big zoo so it won’t take the entire day but I know we’ll have fun so let’s pounce aboard the Cyclone Express Tour bus & get rolling down the road! Thanks for accompanying me today sweet furiends & I hope you all have a pawsome Caturday! ~Queen Trixie's Tantalizing Animal Tales~April 4th Good morning from the imperial cabin in the woods of Northern Indiana! It’s still a very chilly morning with temps below freezing but it’s supposed to be warming up nicely later with highs topping out in the mid to upper 50s. That means we can put away the winter woolies & just wear a jacket or sweatshirt if you’d like to go exploring today…woohoo! Just what is there to explore around here? LOTS!! We don’t have just corn & bean fields…MOL! We take pride in our heritage, and we cherish our Midwest traditions, our Hoosier hospitality and our hard-working Heartland values. You’ll cherish them too as you wander down quaint downtowns that retain the charm of a simpler time. You’ll be inspired by the faith that led to the founding of Notre Dame in 1842 & the simple courage that brought the first Amish settlers in 1844. We also take pride in the dedication of the largest remaining mounted cavalry unit in the United States, the ingenuity that led Orville Redenbacher (born in Brazil, IN) to launch his first gourmet popcorn product in 1971, the creativity of the Garfield creator Jim Davis (born in Marion, IN) & the determination of the farmers that have worked this land for generations. You’ll discover a myriad of activities and delightful secrets throughout the seven counties found in northern Indiana (http://www.northernindianagetaways.com) so take some time to explore the wonders & you’ll understand why I’ve chosen a cabin as my royal abode instead of a damp, cold castle…MOL! Now that I’ve peaked your curiosity (MOL) I’m going to spin you all the way back to California to meow about a very special & heroic bird that was owned by SABRINA’s #11187 mom a long time ago, (B.C. before cats)! OBIE was just a common yellow parakeet but he was very special and spoke 3 languages...English, Italian and Spanish. Obie lived in a cage in the living room but he liked to stand on top of the cage, on mom’s shoulder, or flew around during the time he was out every day…but never leaving the room. One day, his mom reached into the top cupboard to pull out a crock pot and lost her grip and it came crashing down on her head. She’d never in my life experienced this sensation & truly saw stars and felt herself losing consciousness. All of sudden, Obie flew into the room and landed on her shoulder and started chirping "pretty bird", "Ciao Bella", "Que Paso" into her ear as she gripped the countertop. (Obie never had been in the kitchen before and it was a completely separate room as the living room) She later went to the emergency room & found out she had a concussion. She believes Obie & his act of heroism prevented her from being knocked out cold that day. I proclaim & dedicate the royal calico crest for gallantry today to sweet OBIE the parakeet & special thanks to Sabrina for sharing her story! Have a pawsome day dear furiends & remember to pounce by with vote support for COTM candidate SPUNKY #161265! PLEASE VOTE FOR FANG & DROOLER #236550 APRIL 1st Dear CC Furiends! You are cordially invited to come and meet Fang & Drooler #236550 on Monday, April 1st! These precious kitties are so thankful to have a loving family after they were abandoned when their previous owners moved away. Their new family, who are long time loyal members of CC, realized that Fang & Drooler faced an uncertain future because of their advanced age and medical conditions; so they decided to take them in and try to find them another home. Fang & Drooler #236550 have now taken their place among the other rescues in the family! They love to hang out with mom, enjoy spending time in their beds or on the couch, & enjoy playtime outside! They both meow their displeasure with car rides, strangers, vacuums, & trash trucks; Fang, in particular, has an aversion to feathers, preferring to play only with a shoelace! These sweet kitties are also dealing with an Auto Immune disorder: Drooler has had 7 teeth removed as a result; Fang suffers from mouth and paw ulcers, and is not too happy that he has to take medications for the ulcers, insulin to treat Diabetes, stress, & will start meds for Hyperthyroidism. Along with Luvbug, Lil Jag, Buster, Smudge, & Angels Kuce, Sphinx, & Dancing Bear, Fang & Drooler #236550 have been given a chance to live with this wonderful family, who are well known to everyone for the love and compassion they have for homeless and abandoned cats! Fang & Drooler #236550 crave love and attention & will be overjoyed to have furiends come by and visit! We hope you will leave a vote so they can have the honor of winning their very own COTD award! We offer heartfelt thanks of appreciation to Queen Josie Mae #193862 for her magnificent reign as our March Queen! We congratulate Queen Trixie #172636 and invite you to visit her at the castle during the month of April! And we offer our support to our new COTM candidate, Spunky #161265, and hope you will leave a vote everyday in April to help Spunky #161265 to become our COTM for May! Thank you for your continued support of the CMR Special Recognition Campaigns and our outstanding candidates! These campaigns are chosen for families who are trying to help other CC members by visiting and voting. In appreciation, we are leaving you a platter of assorted seafood tidbits with a side of catnip sauce for dipping! This is Charlotte with Mouse #219407 & Tucker for the CMR page #46883.Come visit me, OFFLINE...... Missing our sweet angels - & Q. Charlotte ~Vote SPUNKY #161265 MAY COTM.

~Trixie's Tantalizing Animal Tales~ March 30th ~PLEASE VOTE COTD FOR LUCY #199700 TO HONOR HER BELOVED MOM’S CROSSING ON MARCH 1ST~ The sky is still dark as the kitties gather at the airport, wave good-by to their parents, & climb aboard the plane. Trixie is already aboard with her kitty sibs & as soon as everyone takes a seat & buckles in, they lift off. The pilots for our trip this week are Whiskers & Pete plus we also have the pleasure of Boo Kitty & our new kitty friend Armani as the flight attendants. We’ll be met at our destination by my dear friend Sabrina so she can show us around her city & take us to an urban paradise I know we’ll love! We’re heading toward the Golden State sweet kitties…straight to southern California & the famous SAN DIEGO ZOO!” We’ll spend the day monkeying around in the tropical oasis as we visit amazing habitats for animals such as gorillas, tigers, sun bears, flamingos, mandrills, polar bears, birds of paradise, giant tortoises, leopards… and more! We can take a Panda Trek to visit the giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat, go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California & see a herd of Asian elephants. We can also enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or an aerial view from Skyfari, plus we can dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert’s Restaurant & see animals up close in the Children's Zoo. It will be great to discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, & keeper presentations! A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience. Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years & is open 365 days a year. Located adjacent to downtown San Diego in Balboa Park, the Zoo is 100 acres in size and is home to more than 4,000 animals representing more than 800 species from around the world. The Zoo will be a unique walking experience that exhibits animals in the most natural way possible, adding shows & animal presentations throughout the day for additional enjoyment. The San Diego Zoo also offers a variety of education programs & tons of other fun things! We’ll be arriving when it opens & will stay until it closes at 7pmPT! After we leave Sabrina has recommended Anthony’s Star of the Sea for our dining pleasure. It’s perched over the sparkling waters of San Diego Bay & should have that soothing sleepy atmosphere we’ll need so we can make it back home to get ready for the coronation ceremony at 3pmET (noon PT) tomorrow. Buckle back up kitties because we’re landing. We’ll take our bags to the Purring Parrot Avian & Feline Resort before we head to the zoo so I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow before the coronation, but do have space to meow…THANK YOU FOR ACCOMPANYING ME ON MY FINAL CATPAIGN ZOO TRIP DEAR FURIENDS & FOR THE FANTASTIC VOTE SUPPORT! ~Trixie's Tantalizing Animal Tales~ March 29th I’m on the final lap of my catpaign sweet kitty furiends yet my cyclonic spins are still going strong thanks to your loving & generous support! Thank you for pouncing by with your comments on the critically endangered animals I presented yesterday plus the votes you pawed my way!! Today I’ll wrap up the top 5 list of these beautiful creatures that inhabit our planet that could use help to save their species & don’t forget that you can see their pics in my gallery! ~JAVAN RHINOS~ Javan rhinos were killed by trophy hunters during colonial times. They were also killed as agricultural pests and for their horn, a highly prized commodity in traditional Asian medicine. Indonesia is home to the only population of Javan rhinos left on the planet. Only about 40 of these rhinos exist there, making the Javan rhino one of the rarest mammals in the world. The population in Ujung Kulon National Park represents the only hope for the survival of a species that is on the brink of extinction. Until the late 19th century and early 20th century, Javan rhinos existed from northeast India and the Sunderbans , throughout mainland Southeast Asia, and on the island of Sumatra. If we lose the population in Java, the entire species will disappear. ~HAWKSBILL TURTLE~ Hawksbills are named for their narrow, pointed beak. They also have a distinctive pattern of overlapping scales on their shells that form a serrated-look on the edges. These colored and patterned shells make them highly-valuable and commonly sold as "tortoiseshell" in markets. Hawksbills help maintain the health of coral reefs. As they remove prey such as sponges from the reef's surface, they provide better access for reef fish to feed. Like other marine turtles, hawksbills are threatened by the loss of nesting and feeding habitats, excessive egg-collection, fishery-related mortality, pollution, and coastal development. However, they are most threatened by illegal wildlife trade. ~VAQUITA~ Vaquitas are most often found close to shore in the Gulf's shallow waters, although they quickly swim away if a boat approaches. Rare and elusive, this little porpoise wasn't discovered until 1958 & little is actually known about them. Vaquitas have natural predators such as sharks, but their main threat is from the fishing industry. They often die after being caught in gillnets, a problem known as bycatch. The Vaquita is the most endangered cetacean in the world with fewer than 200 left & the species may go extinct without further protective measures. Okay kitties…that’s a wrap on all of my animal series for my catpaign. Now that I’m finished I want all of you to head home & pack an overnight bag because we’ll be flying out bright & early tomorrow morning for our next zoo tour & will be staying overnight again! Thank you for helping me on my quest for the April crown dear furiends! Have a pawtastic Friday & I’ll see you in the morning!
