Molokai
Serene seascapes, unspoiled coastlines, untamed wilderness. We visit Molokai & travel back to a timeless place. This is an island that stays true to its Hawaiian traditions - tucked away from the hustle of the outside world; where no building is taller than a coconut tree; there’s no traffic & no traffic lights; where you can feel the power of Hawaiian culture from an area near Maunaloa, said to be the birthplace of hula, to the natural wonders of Halawa Valley.

Molokai is only 38 miles long and 10 miles across at its widest point. It is a friendly & family-oriented island that has deep connections with its Hawaiian ancestors. Unlike the visitor industry on the larger Hawaiian Islands, Molokai has preserved its true Hawaiian culture. More than one third of this island's residents have over 50% Hawaiian blood. Molokai residents farm, fish, hunt & gather many of their basic needs & they enjoy this lifestyle. Here we need to slow down, be less demanding, & respect the Molokai way of life. Molokai is the real deal. We are visiting the true Hawaii. We will enjoy & respect Molokai & her people.

Lining the northeast coast are the towering cliffs of the North Shore Pali. At 3,600 to 3,900 feet from sea base to top, they are the tallest sea cliffs in the world; their near-vertical plunge ends 2000 feet below sea level. We step cautiously to the edge to peek over. Whoa, that’s a drop! Later in the day, we do some ocean kayaking along the face of the cliffs; this is amazing beyond belief! We also discover secret, secluded beaches, sea birds, & cascading waterfalls which provide incredible, photogenic scenery

We then hike into the East End’s classic cathedral valley to see Hawaii back in time. It is believed ancient Polynesians settled in lush Halawa Valley as early as 650 AD. This area, half a mile wide and three to four miles deep, and blessed with beautiful vistas and towering waterfalls, is one of the island's most historic areas. Roughly two miles up the trail is the impressive, double-tiered 250-foot Moa’ula Falls. If you’re considering taking a dip into the pool, drop a ti leaf into the water first. Hawaiian legend says that a giant moo (lizard) lives at the bottom of the pool. If the ti leaf sinks, the moo is in no mood for visitors. If the ti leaf floats, it’s safe to enter. Our ti leaves are forming a veritable flotilla, and we slip gratefully into the refreshing pool. Soon we are splashing and playing like … well, kitties.

We have been invited to a luau by the residents of a small village near Maunaloa, birthplace of the hulu. After dining on succulent roast pig, and all the tasty side dishes, we are given grass skirts to put on for a hula lesson. Soon we are dancing and telling the stories of the island, looking almost like natives.

Tomorrow we will head for the island of Oahu, where our Hawaiian adventure will eventually finish.

one of these mom's days janet will have it off, but the trouble is time and a half is to good to pass up! but there are some times when you have to pass it up especial-ly when you have a vacation....but ours isn't till the last week next month! :( oh well, looking forwards to it as it's been a long time since the last one early in dec-ember! finished 1/2 of the weeding yesterday afternoon and the rest spent reading inside with the radio going and outside walking too. sports day is wednesday. sandy,ana, haley,angels

Thank you for all your support and stopping by and pressing my votey button. You are all so very special and it means so much to me that you stop by.
So have any of you looked for a show close to where you live yet? Are you going to send your mom or dad first to the show? Remember they can get all the information on how to show you at the shows website, or the flyer. You might even get showed without you knowing until it’s to late. Mom never tells me it’s almost time for a show. I figure it out by our outings to the stores then having my nails done and my bath. Mom you can’t fool me, I know. I just don’t know how far we have to travel.
Ok, now it’s time for all of us to find out about the TICA(The International Cat Association). Mom has the booklet with the show rules. I wonder if I will go to a TICA show.
All TICA shows are in Arcadia, Ca at least 2 ½ hour drive. SIGH I guess I am getting real good at traveling.
A kitten by definition is a feline under 8 calendar months of age. A Cat is a feline not less than 8 calendar months of age. Benched cats are cats, kittens, alters, and household pets present and qualified for an entire show. Registered cat a pedigree that has been filed with an Executive Office and assigned a registered number. A Recognized Breed is any recognized breeds of felines listed in the rules.
Wow this booklet is big. I’ll get you the information during the last 10 days of my catpaign and if we need more time during my reign.

Thank you for all your support and voting for me. I love it when you push my votey button. You all make me feel so special.
We have went through all my shows. Had ice cream at all the Hemet’s shows. I love the ice cream social don’t you? We have some of the back ground for the shows. I wonder if I left anything out? HMMMM
Oh yes, at the cat shows have you ever noticed that in spite of all the gorgeous, exotic and rare breeds being shown the largest crowds are with the household pets. We are all healthy, beautiful, some with special little head butts for the judges are everyone’s favorite. If you are friendly, not easily frightened, likes attention you too can be a show cat in the HHP category. We are a very special group of kitties. Some love to play with the judges, some head butt the judges, some play with the judges toys ( I don’t know why, a parrot feather or a little toy wand, please I like the better toys like my big feather wand or my catnip banana. The fling ama string is fun and the Da Bird is the best.
I know you have your favorite toys. Do you think you would play with some of those toys the judges have?
Mom goes to the vendors and gets the free samples for us and then look for my special toy in between our judging. There are a lot of cool toys and food/water bowls and other things. Some for our moms and dad and lots for us. I haven’t got a new kitty tree from one of the vendors or kitty bed but I did get a warm sack to crawl into. Yew gets one every time he comes to a kitty show and mom saw his. She got a warmer one for me and maybe next time I will get a cooler one.

Now a little something from the Pasadena show. For the first time not only did one person come by to ask how much mom wanted for me but two people asked. Mom said I’m not for sale. The second lady wasn’t convinced and kept asking mom and hanging around. She asked mom what kind of cat I was and she said a household pet. Mom had a feeling and didn’t want to say I am a Turkish Van at first. She said no what kind of cat. Mom said she believe I was a Turkish van and the lady said she knew that and they are very expensive cats. She asked again if I was for sale and mom said no. Mom knew if she had to use the litter box that the other mom’s and dad’s know who I belonged to and if someone tried to open my cage they would stop her. That lady showed up at one of the rings I was in and kept trying to ask the judge what kind of kitty is was but they don’t all answer questions when they are judging. Then when mom took me to go back to my benching cage the lady ask for me to go to a judge that was taking a break and she asked her what kind of kitty I was. The judge did say I looked and had the features of a Turkish van. Mom still said I wasn’t for sale. Can you believe she showed up again when I just left one ring for another after I won my rosette. We just couldn’t shake her. Mom said all the money in the world isn’t enough for me. I am one lucky kitty to have found my furever home.
I have heard at the Santa Monica show, which one day I will be attending has a lot of strange humans. One time some guy was dressed like a kitty and was trying to be a kitty. I heard some movie/tv stars go to that show with their family. I just hope nothing weird happens when I’m there. MOL

Thank you for all your support and pawing by my votey button. I appreciate all the votes I’m getting.
Now I will tell you my rescue story. Mom went outside to put food out for the ferals. She went to the side of the garage to put some food for the tom cat. He waits there and some of the others are closer to the house. Mom put his food in his dish, he always stood by mom when she poured his food. Then all of a sudden 3 kittens came running out from between the shed and garage. We were so hungry. Mom looked at the tom cat and said this is new. He just stood and watched us. Mom said he was a very good kitty. Then mom went in to get a carrier but we scattered. The next day she caught one of my sibs then saw the other one, she was very shy between the garage and shed. She slowly put food down for her to eat then with the other hand caught her. She took her in and put her in the room with my brother. She never saw me, I wasn’t there. The next day she could here me, I was meowing but I was caught in the neighbors yard and it was a mess with a doggy barking at me at the end of a rope. Mom kneeled in the alley and pulled the fenced up. Put some food out and I came running. She was able to get me then took the food to the tom cat. I was with my sibs. We went to the vet and got deflead and got medicine for our ear infections. We were under weight and was 4-5 weeks old. My brother was only a 1lb and my sister and I was 2 lbs. When mom brought us out to the front room I knew this was my furever home. I even got on the couch to let Callie know I wanted to stay. I never got real close, I knew she didn’t like that. She looked at me then went to sleep. I knew I was in. Mommy found a home after one month for my sibs. They are together and inside kitties. The lady that adopted them was a vet tech that just moved to Oceanside, Ca It’s at least an hour away from where we live.

The last show I was in was The Food and Water Bowl XXI, San Diego Cat Fanciers. Jan 26 & 27, 2013 Del Mar, Ca. I was up against 46 kitties. I did tell you I didn’t like the Del Mar show. It was only 45 minutes away. Since I didn’t final, I never do at Del Mar mom helped Scooby Doo’s dad. His mom couldn’t make it. Scooby was in the finals with one of both of his sibs. Mom took him to the judges cage and brought him back with his Rosette. I don’t mind mom touching my furriends. I know them and sometimes I’m by them at the judges cage.
One of my furriends from Arizona was even in a movie. He is a very pretty black kitty named Padraic. I can’t remember what movie he is in but it’s a mew one. I guess he was chosen when he was in the Santa Monica cat show in August in 2011. He is a true movie star and I know him. I get benched by him a lot.
One of my furriends goes to a adoption center to show people how purrfect adopting a cat is . I don’t remember which adoption center his mom volunteers at. It’s nice to show humans how great kitties are. When a kitty wins a rosette a lot of the judges like to hear their story of adoption/rescue. There are so many great stories. I got to tell my story 5 times. MOL
I bet you all have great stories to tell on how you got your furever home. Whether you are a purebred or a rescue you were chosen and that makes you all special.

Thank you for all your support and pawing by my votey button. It’s so special that you come by my page. It truly means a lot to me. I can’t believe we are already half way through the month.
My next show was Opposites Attract Cat Club presents the first annual A-Cat-A-Me Awards in Pasadena, CA Sept 15, 2012 . Again 2 ½ hour drive one way and I was up against 23 kitties.
I won another rosette in my 4th ring. It was the same judge that gave me a rosette in the Hemet show a week before. He’s the one that tells the visitors that he chooses a kitty he would like to take home.
Now you know how I got my shelf. 5 rosettes I have on my shelf. If I get any more mom says she will think how she is going to display by rosettes. Hehe I have pictures of my rosettes and me around my shelf. Now everyone knows whose shelf it is.
Instead of a toy, mom bought me a kitty stroller. She always wanted one for Callie but they are real expensive. Those of you who have stroller might have paid $150.00. My stroller $90.00. It was a very hot day that day. It was 100 in Imperial Beach where we live and we were north and inland. A lot hotter 118. Mom said we will stop on the way home to eat. We usually drive straight through. I got to go into Denny’s. I just slept in my stroller. It was so nice to be with mom. No one said anything either. When I popped my head up to look out, I heard the lady in the booth behind us said oh a kitty, that is a kitty stroller. I have heard of those. Then a teenager walked by and gave a double take. I guess he never saw a kitty in a stroller before. MOL

Oh thank you. I do enjoy baking, especially for Armani, he eats everything MOL. Mommy has been avoiding stress, or should I say the stressing people, all week & seems to be a bit more peaceful around here. Mom got a bit behind on our blogs too.

Thank you for all your support and coming by to leave me a votey. You are all the best and I’m blessed that you take time out of your busy day to see me.
Ok some of you might have not like that fact that the show kitties get a bath. They get primped and blown dry. It can be scary. I know one day mom got out her hair dryer and I didn’t like the noise. I just watched mom and didn’t like her pointing the thing at me. My next show a judge told mom she should blow dry me after a bath so I can fluff up like a Persian. Mom said I don’t like a blow dryer but maybe if she finds a quiet blow dryer. I guess I will be getting a blow dryer. SIGH! I’ll see if I like it but I think mom is just throwing her money away. I don’t want to look like a Persian, if I did I would be a Persian. MOL
I don’t mind a bath. I have been real good for the groomer and now that mommy works again she gives me a bath. I do well for her too. I guess I shouldn’t have jumped in mom’s tub when it was full of water and swam a little before getting out. It just blew my cover liking water. One of my furriends mom gave a sample of shampoo she has for mom to try on me. It brings out the white in my furr. Mom used it on me for my last show. I did look shiny and pretty. I hope mom doesn’t find out. She might try it on me before I’m scheduled for another show.
Even after a bath, I’m a mama’s girl. I love to be close to mom. Even when she takes me to a show, after I come home use my litter box and eat, I go lay by mom. I guess I’m not to mad at her for dragging me to the shows.

Ok, sometimes I do get real nervous at the show but mom has some of the Feliway calming spray and uses it in my cage before I go back in.
I have a nice little tote that carries my brushes, nail clippers. These are my own clippers (mom bought a new one for the house so I don’t have to share and in case I need to be clipped at the show). I even have some fans in case I get hot. At the show in San Diego, my second show the air conditioning broke and it was so hot. It was August in San Diego one of our hottest months. Mom went out after the show and bought some little battery operated fans and keeps them in my to go crate. She won’t let me get hot again. The air conditioning was fine the second day but we aren’t going to chance it.
I have some baby washcloths. Mom wipes me down after being handled so there isn’t any human sweat on my fur. My little tote can hang from the side of my cage. Some of the humans bought them from a vendor. They have little folding cages. Some kitties bring their own cages. They fold down and not wire. They go to a lot of shows. Mom said maybe someday I can get one but we need to go to more shows. I like my curtains so I think we can just stick with the wire cages that are provided.
Mom brings my kitty wipes too in case of an accident and I need to be washed up before being judged. I need to be dry too so I guess the fans come in handy. One show a kitty had an accident on the way to the show and the owner forgot her hair dryer. Mom lent her a fan and it sure work. That kitty was a purebred.

I had told you of the two upcoming shows on the schedule so fair for the 2012-2013 season. Now the only shows scheduled for the 2013-2014 season are. Oct 5 Palm Springs and Dec 28-29 in Las Vegas Riviera Hotel. I know someday I’ll go to Las Vegas. I wonder if I’m old enough to gamble. Kitty needs more toys. MOL Shows are still being scheduled so that is why mom always tries to stay on top of it. OK sometimes she misses a show. Silly mommy.
In case you were wondering, the cage size is usually 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 27 inches high. One cat or two kittens are allowed per cage. Some shows have a “double cages” which are partitioned into two single cages. In this arrangement a single cage is 26 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. A double cage (extra charge) is 54 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. No more than one cat or two kittens may be benched in the same cage.
The cage covers must cover two sides and back. It is recommended that the top and bottom is covered as well.
The covering for the cage is to prevent your cat from seeing its neighbors. People who show regularly have spectacular curtains and decorations for their cages. I have a towel for my bottom of the cage but sometimes I just use an extra curtain to make my area extra fancy. MOL

What's mew Molly Marissa? I've been taking care of mommy for a week or two. Bit difficult & kinda sad time for her. She calls me Nurse Chloe now because either I'm on her lap I'm right next to her. I take my job seriously, I'm sure you know what I mean. We girl kitties nurture ;)

Thank you for all your support and pushing my votey button. I am so happy so many kitties stop by my page. You are the best.
My next kitty show was Hemet Feline Fanciers presents Cats 2012 Sept 8 6 rings San Jacinto , Ca. A 2 1/2 hour drive one way. I was up against 21 kitties. I won 2 rosettes at the show in my first and fourth ring. My first ring it was the same judge that game me a ribbon at the Hemet show last year 2011. Mom and I were so happy. Now I have 4 ribbons/rosettes. WOW I’m on my way that’s five shows down.
I do better in the smaller shows. They aren’t as loud and not as big of crowds coming by to look at you in your benching cage and at the judge’s ring. If you have been in a kitty show, you know what I mean. So many people and noise. I hope some of you are interested in trying a show. It is fun and to have so many people telling you how pretty you are. I know how pretty I am but it’s nice to hear from someone other than mom. Some even ask to pet me. It’s up to your mom/dad if you want that. Sometimes we are getting ready to go to a ring so that would be a no. We do have the antibacterial hand stuff in case someone wants to pet us. Mom likes to keep me safe. Everyone that shows all the time has the stuff with them by the cages.
I hope you are enjoying some behind the scenes of the cat shows and how I did at some of mine. It is fun even if I’m nervous. Mom does take me to stores sometimes before a show or just because so I can get use to the noise. It is something some of the mom’s and dad’s suggest that have been doing the shows for a while. I guess it helps.

Ok, my fourth show was you guessed it, back in Del Mar San Diego Cat Fanciers presents The Food and Water Bowl XX Jan 28 & 29, 2012 8 rings 45 minutes away. I really don’t like this show at all. The hall has a big echo. It’s a show hall the fair uses so it’s basically a big warehouse that humans sell things at the fair. When you have lots of humans and the speakers it’s one big YUCK for me. I know other kitties don’t like it that loud either. I was up against 51 kitties. Mom keeps all the flyers and booklets from the shows. I guess it’s for me to remember my show days. I just soon forget some of them. Hehe

I didn’t get any rosettes again. I just don’t do well with the big shows. I do let all the judges hold me and check me out. I don’t like to play with their toys. Most kitties don’t but some do. If the judges wanted me to play then they should bring the toys I like. MOL
This year so far there are shows up in Ontario, Ca March 16 scheduled and then April 27 & 28 in Palm Springs. We want to do a Palm Springs show but we are going to wait until after my catpaign. There are always shows in Palm Springs. Palm Springs has 2 one day shows with 6 rings each day. You can do one or both shows. We would most likely just do the one day show then come home that night. That’s another 2 ½ to 3 hour drive one way. That a long time in the car with mom. I don’t mind riding in a car, I just nap or look at mom.
I don’t know if I told you but a ring is a judge. So if I have 8 rings that means I see 8 judges. Each judge holds me and looks at me. That’s a lot of strangers touching me. OK some of the judges I have seen before but still I don’t see them on a daily basis. Mom checks the website a couple times a month to see the schedule. It changes as the shows get booked.

Thank you for your support and your votey. I appreciate you coming by every day to visit me. I hope you are enjoying my catpaign and a look into cat shows.
It is fun and scary at the same time at the shows. People are coming by your benching cage looking at you and asking if they can take your picture. I think I should get a can of fancy feast mornings if they want my picture but does mom say that NOOOOO she just says yes. It’s not her picture they are taking. I know you all agree with me. I’m the Star.
You mostly see the same humans and kitties. Sometimes there are newbies and we help them with their cage set up and how it works. They bench a newbie with some of the kitties that have done shows for a while. I know not every kitty is cut out to be a show kitty. Mom knew I was the one. I will run to the door if I hear someone knocking. I just need to know who it is. I played with her nieces and nephews. Mom says I just have it. I don’t know what it is and I just might not want to have it. If Callie was here I know she would know what it is and would let us all know.
You can look under Cat Fancy Association or CFA and The International Cat Association or TICA to find shows in your area/region. You can find the information on showing and what you will need. I like getting a mew toy. Mommy and me time is the best. I don’t have to share mommy with my sisters. Of course they are alone while we are gone. Hehe
If you have been in a show, I would love to hear about it. I know some of you kitties have even won some rosettes. Let me know what category you show in too.

My next show was the Hemet Feline Fanciers presents Cats 2011 Sept 10, 2011 San Jacinto, Ca 6 rings. I was up against 20 kitties. It was 2 ½ hours away one way drive. My first two shows were present by the San Diego Cat Fanciers. At the Hemet show there is always an ice cream social at 3pm and everything stops for ice cream. OK the ice cream is for the humans and I don’t think that is very nice. We are the ones getting judged.
This show, my third show was the first time I won not one but two rings. They were my first two rings and Hemet only had ribbons with toys on them. I don’t care I won. Even the purebreds won the same thing. Mom was so proud of me. I was proud too. I couldn’t believe it. Mom said if I never one another ribbon it was alright. It is very exciting when you get judged, go back to your benching cage and after everyone has been judged hear your number to go back to the ring.
Mom and I were gone for 15 hours and I never used the litter box. I almost did in the afternoon but decided not to. Mom still can’t believe I hold it for so long. MOL
Mom put me on FB after each win. I think mom should give me my own FB page, don’t you? I am the famous one in this house. I do love my furriends I have met at the shows. I usually get benched by my furriends I know well. Mom always requests that we get benched close to them. My entry fee goes to support legislation on animal rights. Sometimes it goes to a foundation to help find cures for diseases I kitties. It went to the Winn Feline Foundation from my last show.
Wow, we already went to three of my kitties shows. Are any of you ready to enter a kitty show? Ok, I understand if you’re not.

My next show was The Happy Cat Show San Diego, Ca Aug 6-7, 2011 6 rings 45 minutes away. I was up against 31 kitties. I missed the show in April at the same place but that’s alright. This show was only 15 minutes away. I did well again but no rosettes. Mom says it’s alright if I don’t win. I always get a mew toy for every show I’m in. Mom buys it from a vendor at the show. In between my judging, mom is able to see the vendors and what else is happening at the show. Talk with her furriends and I relax in my kitty bed with my toys. I have a rolling crate with my curtains, litter box, bed, toys, and other things I need. It’s my to go box and is always ready except mom puts my dishes, food, camera and other things we don’t keep in there all the time. I did get a lot of curtains from my furriend Highland Piper #171322. He is a European Burmese. He doesn’t show any more and he sent me his curtains. I always get compliments on his curtains. They are very pretty. I have some on the table before mom puts my things in too. I’m so love my mommy and me time. The smaller shows aren’t loud and you don’t have the echo like the Del Mar Show.
The shows also have lots of rescue groups and shelters with kitties up for adoption. We get a lot of kitties adopted and some of those kitties waiting for adoption are being judged too. The shelters/rescues entered a kitty or two and sometimes some have more. Everyone watching is told they are awaiting adoption and to make it even better, some kitties even win rosettes.

A household pet is defined as any cat not eligible to be entered in another class at the show. Yes, we have had purebreds in the household pet category they either had a disqualifying trait or no papers, etc. A registered purebred may be shown in one of three catagories: Kitten class (at least 4 months of age but under 8 months of age), Championship Class (8months of age or older and unaltered) and Premiership Class (8months of age or older and spayed/neutered)
Most cat shows are non-vetted and all entries must be free of disease, fungus and parasites and strongly recommended to be inoculated for protection against Feline Enteritis, Rhinotracheitis, Calici Viruses, and tested for FeLV.
I didn’t get any rosettes my first show. It is common for that but there are a few kitties that get rosettes their first show. I had just had my big girl surgery and was a little over 4 months old but hey my sisters never have been in any shows. Mom said she is very proud of me and I’m the best kitty in the show. She tells me that after every ring I go in. I am one lucky little kitty. Mom knows I was real nervous but I let every judge hold me and do whatever they did to me. Ok sometimes it wasn’t comfy. MOL
I hope some of you are getting excited and maybe a few might want to try a show. Everyone says always let you try up to 3 shows before calling it quits. My furriend Scooby Doo’s dad told someone to take her kitty into the bathroom and hold them on the sink like a judge would and tilt the head back to look in the eyes and teeth to help get use to that. He also puts on his swim suit and gets in the tub with all his kitties. They have 3 they show to help with baths and they get use to the water. Ok, I like to bath alone. MOL

My first show was only 45 minutes away. I went to the groomer and was very good for Miss Bobbi. She gave me a bath and did my nails two days before the show.
Mom had to go and get a couple yards of material for my curtains and she was a yard short. MOL I have a benching cage I stay in while waiting to be judge. I need my curtains up so we don’t see the other kitties. I have a litter box that I don’t use, mom has food and water for me that I don’t eat or drink and my kitty bed with some toys. I do lay in my kitty bed. Don’t worry, it is normal for some kitties not to use the litter box, eat or drink during the show. Only my furriends that have been going to shows for years and to most of the shows eat and use the litter box. I do love my benching cage. When mom gets it ready then takes me out I jump into my cage. It’s safe in there. I also have another cage, it’s called the judges cage. It’s up by the judge. Mom has to listen for them to call the household pets and my number. I then go and get in the cage with my number on top and wait for the judge to get me out. Mom was nervous how I would react to my first judge but I just let him hold me and look at me. Mom didn’t get a picture because she was watching to make sure I didn’t take off. MOL
I was real nervous. The Del Mar show is very loud and there are so many people there to watch us. Yes, most of the people watch the Household pets. We always have the largest crowds watching us. Each judge is different. Household Pets do not have standards like the pure breeds. We do have to be at least 4 months old, not declawed, in good health with no evidence of fleas, ear mites, etc. Cats 8 months of age or older must be spayed/neutered. Nails should be clipped on all four paws before leaving for the show. HHP’s are judged on condition (general good health), uniqueness, temperament, and grooming. Most people bathe their pet one to two days before the show. The judges loved the household pets because it’s judges choice on who wins. I have one judge that has given me a rosette twice. He always says he picks the cats he would like to take home. I guess I’m real special. MOL

Thank you for supporting me and pawing me a votey. As you know, I show in the CFA and I’m in the Southwest region. The CFA Southwest Region(Region 5) was one of the first CFA Regions to score household pets for regional awards. The Northwest region(Region 2) and Japan (Region 8) have also been scoring household pets and presenting regional awards for many years. The regions that show household pets are Region 1 North Atlantic, Region 2 North West, Region 3 Gulf Shore, Region 5 Southwest, Region 6 Midwest, Region 7 Southern and Region 8 Japan. Region 7 is the most recent region to present regional awards for the 2007-2008 show season. You can get a lot of information that I give you on the CFA website. I am getting it from the Southwest Region’s website. The other regions are Region 4 Great Lakes, Region 9 Europe and International Division (Asia/Latin America)
My show year runs from May 1 through April 30. The Southwest Region encompasses Southern California (Bakersfield and points South), Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. Usually the top 10 household pets are presented awards except for the Del Mar, Ca Show in January. It’s the biggest show in the region We have at least 45 household pets and the top 15 get awards. All the other shows are smaller and you only have 20-25 kitties in the household pet category.
My first show was The Food & Water Bowl XIX Jan 22 & 23, 2011 Del Mar, CA 8 rings. I was up against 45 household pets. Mom didn’t know it was the biggest show in the region until we got there and someone told her. She still says she started me out in a shark tank. I don’t know what a shark is. I was very nervous.
Tomorrow my first show and how I felt.

Thank you so much for asking me to run for COTM. I am so honored. This is the best bunch of kitties and I am so happy to be with you all.
Some of you might not know but I am a show cat. I have been in seven shows starting in Jan 2011. We don’t go to all the shows but it’s nice just to have mommy and me time. I’m going to tell you a little of how I felt in the shows, some of the rules and you can come to my gallery and see some of the pictures from the shows.
I have won 5 rosettes and mommy put up a shelf for me to display my rosettes and my pictures are around the shelf with my pretty rosettes around me.
Just so you know , you don’t have to be a purebred to be shown. I’ll tell you about that first, mom has me in the category of HHP( Household Pet). I will get into some of the purebreds afterwards if I have some time. I go to the CFA(Cat Fancy Association) shows. My last show one of my mom’s furriends gave her a booklet for the TICA(The International Cat Association) shows. They are starting to go to those shows too. We’ll read the booklet and let you know a little about those shows too.
I hope you enjoy my catpaign and that I can answer your questions about the shows. I know there are a few of you out there that go to shows too. Tomorrow we will start off with my first show, how I felt and some background.
