Hi, Wuzzy and family
My family & I are so sorry to hear all of the things that your family's been going through since we meowed last. Condolences to your Mom, it's a really hard thing for humans to lose a parent, even if you don't believe they're really "lost", it still hurts a lot.

And your Mom has been having rough times, too. You kitties must be getting very good at purr therapy. Now that we know, we'll back you up a bit and our Angel kitties will bring some of that special Angel dust of theirs, too.

It's been a rough time on CC lately, Mom found this quote recently and I'm going to pass it on: “We need to be angels for each other, to give each other strength and consolation. Because only when we fully realize that the cup of life is not only a cup of sorrow but also a cup of joy will we be able to drink it.” ? Henri J.M. Nouwen

"Mikey's Meow-velous Mothers" - May 19
Today I want to tell you about some more of our CC friends who were hand raised by their human pawrents after being separated too early from their fur moms:

RHUBY #142476 and MR. LUCKY #141955 were abandoned by their mother at 3 weeks old, in the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd. Rhuby was severely frostbitten on her tail and toes, and Mr. Lucky was dangerously cold as well. Both even stopped breathing briefly, but with the care of their loving human parents they grew strong and healthy. Mr. Lucky crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2008 at the age of 10, and he is greatly missed by his fur sister and his human Mom.

FUZZY #148344 and WUZZY #148613 were part of a litter of 8 born to a feral cat who had been trapped by a helpful human. One kitten died, and these two were the smallest, having fallen behind on their growth. The human’s neighbour took Fuzzy and Wuzzy home, where they were bottle fed and all the other duties of a mother cat were tended to by their new human Mom. Their fur Mom was taken for her big girl surgery and then released on a farm.

ANGEL PEPPER #190344 was born to a barn cat and orphaned at 10 days old. He was found and bottle raised by a loving human Mom. He survived a broken leg while still a kitten, a diagnosis of Lymphoma at 8 years old, finally joining his fur mom at the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 19 ½ years.

MALACHI #194826 had a rough start in life. By the time a motorist stopped to check out the box on the side of the road, the mother and kittens inside it were dead. All, that is, except for one small black one that sat and looked at him quietly. He scooped up the furry handful and presented him to friends who he knew would be able to help. Malachi has been with his forever family now for almost 10 years.
*****
>>Happy Birthday wishes to ANGEL MISTY #158840
>>Adoptiversary greetings to MAGIL #26605, LIL #26606
>>Crossing Day remembrance: CHUMLEY #192486

~♥~ IN MEMORY OF JIM CHANDLER ~♥~
AKA "Bikaman"
We wanted to do a SPECIAL Catpaign for ZIPPI #22431 in the Memory & Honor of his human dad, Jim. We called him "Uncle Jim". So many friends to Jim and his beloved babies Ole Gray ; Missy, Zippi and Taz would agree this would be an honor to vote ZIPPI #25453 for her COTD on 11/30/2010 and receive his Badge on December 1st ~~ TWO years ago in the passing of Jim. ZIPPI was born in a litter of 6 Hemmingway kitties and the only one that didn't have double paws (polydactyl) Jim her at a shelter and she screamed at him and crawled all over him when he took her out of her jail cage. She is the only gray tiger. ZIPPI was born on Feb. 25, 2007. We believe, but do not know for sure, that ZIPPI is the only one of Jim's four kitties who remained with Jim's daughter.

Jim loved so many things, like his "Frosty Beverage" or always going to the "Cabinet"; the "Sunshine Gang" had wonderful and funny stories to tell most everyday. Then "Uncle Jim" decided to call them "As The Rancho Turns".

When Uncle Jim passed away on 12/01/2009, he left behind his four kitties. Lillian Knight had contacted his daughter and asked her if she was going to keep them together with her and she told Lillian she would, but that didn't happen. So many of us CC friends were very upset about that. Lillian tried to get an update on all the kitties but Jim's friend hasn't returned mom's email.

Please drop by ZIPPI's page #22431 and leave her a vote in honor of her beloved Dad and our beloved friend, Jim.

Hi Wuzzy and the Gang
Wolfie lets look up a very famous man and also very controversial who was born in Connecticut not far from my Mom’s home and look at his life. Benjamin McLane Spock was born on May 2, 1903, in New Haven, Connecticut, the oldest child in a large, strict New England family. He was educated at private preparatory schools when he was young and attended Yale from 1921 to 1925, majoring in English literature. He was also a member of the rowing crew that represented the United States in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Spock began medical school at Yale in 1925 but transferred to Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1927. Spock had decided well before starting his medical studies that he would "work with children, who have their whole lives ahead of them." He believed that pediatricians of the time were focusing too much on the physical side of child development, so he learned psychiatry as well. Between 1933 and 1944 Spock practiced pediatric medicine. At the same time he taught pediatrics at Cornell Medical College and consulted in pediatric psychiatry for the New York City Health Department. On a summer vacation in 1943 he began to write his most famous book, Baby and Child Care. He continued to work on it from 1944 to 1946 while serving as a medical officer in the navy. Spock's political activism began during this period, growing logically out of his concern for children. A healthy environment for growing children, he believed, included a radiation-free atmosphere to breathe. In 1962 he became cochairman of SANE, an organization dedicated to stopping nuclear bomb tests in the Earth's atmosphere. The following year Spock campaigned for Medicare and he was an early opponent of the Vietnam War. On May 20, 1968, Spock was put on trial for conspiracy, along with several other leading war protesters. The charge was that he had counseled young people to resist the draft. He was convicted, but on appeal the verdict was set aside. Too many readers, however, the government's indictment of the baby doctor seemed rather like prosecuting Santa Claus. Spock was also capable of admitting a mistake. Badgered for some five years on the lecture platform by feminists objecting to the gender-role stereotypes of fathers and mothers as they appeared in Baby and Child Care, he eventually admitted that much of what they had said had been right. In 1976, thirty years after its initial publication, Spock brought out a third version of the famous book. He deleted material he himself termed "sexist" and called on fathers to share more of the parental responsibility. Spock had chronic bronchitis and suffered a stroke in 1989. His second wife, Mary, worked with him on his autobiography, Spock on Spock, which was published in 1989. Dr. Spock died at his home in La Jolla, California, on March 15, 1998, at the age of ninety-four.

Hi W
Wolfie lets go over to Windsor, Connecticut and visit the library there and read up on Oliver Ellsworth. Oliver Ellsworth born in Windsor, Connecticut, on April 29, 1745, little is know of his childhood but his father wanted him to be a minister. In 1762, at the age of 17, Ellsworth entered Yale University. He left Yale at the end of his sophomore year at the request of his parents and enrolled in Princeton University. During his time at Princeton, Ellsworth was exposed to the many controversial issues facing the American colonies. It was a time of stirring patriotism and loud debates, and young Ellsworth was caught up in the excitement. Ellsworth returned to Windsor after graduating in 1766 to pursue his theological studies. A year later he abandoned the ministry to pursue his growing interest in the law. He passed the bar in 1771 at the age of 27. The following year he married sixteen-year-old Abigail Wolcott, the daughter of a wealthy and influential Connecticut family from East Windsor. Ellsworth's law career got off to a slow start. Considered an honest and reputable man, and no doubt helped by connections developed through his marriage, Ellsworth was elected as a representative of the Connecticut General Assembly in 1773. This began Ellsworth's life-long political career and helped his law practice, which began to flourish. A now accomplished and well-respected lawyer, Ellsworth was soon appointed to numerous committees created by the Continental Congress. The Committee of Appeals was an important step toward the formation of the Supreme Court. When Ellsworth came to the Constitutional Convention he had come to the conclusion that an effective federal government was a necessity. Sensitive to the desires of the states, he argued for a national government that represented state and federal interests. The Connecticut delegation was responsible for offering the governmental model known as the "Connecticut compromise". Ellsworth was also the one to suggest replacing the phrase "national government" with "government of the United States." He was a member of the five-person Committee on Detail that wrote the first draft of the constitution, and he served on the committee that developed the federal judiciary system. Reelected to the Senate, Ellsworth's term carried through 1777; however, he relinquished his seat to accept an appointment as the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. He convince his associates to adopt a system of offering per curiam decisions, which provided for a majority and minority opinion to be written rather than each justice writing a personal opinion. The system was continued by Ellsworth's predecessor, the highly regarded John Marshall. Retiring from the bench in 1799, Ellsworth was appointed by President John Adams to negotiate a treaty with France. The treaty with France was not what they wanted but it stopped any threat of war. Ellsworth returned home in 1801and he died at his home on November 26, 1807.

Hi Wuzzy
Prudence Crandall was born on September 3, 1803 to a Quaker couple in the Hope Valley area in the town of Hopkinton, Rhode Island. At the age of 17, her father decided to move the family to the small town of Canterbury, Connecticut. Prudence a schoolteacher raised as a Quaker, stirred controversy with her education of African-American girls in Canterbury, Connecticut. Her private school, opened in the fall of 1831, was boycotted when she admitted a 17 year-old African-American female student in the autumn of 1833; resulting in what is widely regarded as the first integrated classroom in the United States. Families of the current white students removed their daughters. Consequently, Crandall ceased teaching white girls altogether and open up her school strictly to African American girls. Her advertisement announced that on the first Monday of April 1833 she would open a school “for the reception of young ladies and little misses of color’. On April 1, 1833, twenty African-American girls from Boston, Providence, New York, Philadelphia, and surrounding areas in Connecticut arrived at Miss Crandall's School. Citizens of Canterbury at first protested the school and then held town meetings "to devise and adopt such measures as would effectually avert the nuisance, or speedily abate it..." On May 24, 1833 the Connecticut Legislature passed "The Black Law" prohibiting such a school with African American students from outside the state without the town's permission. In July, Crandall was arrested and placed in the county jail for one night and then released under bond to await her trials. Under Black Law, the townspeople refused any amenities to the students or Crandall, closing their shops and meeting houses to them. To make matters worse, the townspeople also poisoned the school's well, its only water source. But she continued to teach the young women angering the community even further. The judicial process had not stopped the operation of the Canterbury school, but the townspeople's violence against it increased. The public was so angry at the dismissal of the case that on September 9, the school was set on fire. For the safety of her students, her family and her self, Prudence Crandall decided to close her school on September 10, 1834. Connecticut repealed the Black Law in 1838, and later recognized Prudence Crandall with an act of the state legislature, prominently supported by Mark Twain, providing her with a $400 yearly pension in 1886, about $9,500 in 2009 dollars. Crandall's school still stands in Canterbury, Connecticut and currently serves as the Prudence Crandall museum, run by the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism. The Prudence Crandall House in Canterbury, Connecticut, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1991.In 1995, the Connecticut General Assembly designated Prudence Crandall as the state's official heroine. Please vote for Angel Maggie everyday in September so she can get her COTM badge. Thank you,Wolfie,Maggie

Hi Wuzzy
Look here Maggie this article is on the Amistad. Yes, that was a trail that was right here in Connecticut. Very famous trail that brought in even former President Adams. For most New Englanders the Amistads were a curiosity. For a small, but growing, group of abolitionists, however, they were a cause and an opportunity. Abolitionist leader Lewis Tappan described the capture of the Africans as a "providential occurrence" that might allow "the heart of the nation" to be touched "through the power of sympathy." The "Amistad Committee" was quickly formed and soon the group had enlisted legal help, including that of Roger Baldwin, who would later become the governor of Connecticut. On September 14, 1839, the Amistads were sent by canal boat and stage to Hartford for their trial in the Circuit courtroom of Judge Smith Thompson, who also served, as was then the custom for Circuit Court judges, as a justice on the United States Supreme Court. Holabird asked the court to turn all the prisoners over to the President and to let him decide this matter that bore heavily on the relations between great powers. Baldwin, for the defense, argued that "no power on earth has the right to reduce, the Africans, to slavery" and the United States should never stoop so low as to become a "slave-catcher for foreign slave-holders." Judge Thompson preferred to evade the larger debate over abolition and rested his decision on jurisdictional grounds. He decided after three days of argument that because the alleged mutiny and murders occurred in international waters and did not involve U. S. citizens, the court had no jurisdiction to consider the criminal charges. Were the slaves "property"? That was a matter, Judge Thompson ruled, that had to be decided first in the district court. Thompson ruled that the Africans, although no longer considered prisoners, should be detained until the district court could decide whether they were property and--if they were property--who owned them. After an appeal was made to the Supreme Court, Lewis Tappan visited John Quincy Adams at his home in Massachusetts in an effort to persuade "Old Man Eloquent" to argue the Africans case in Washington. Former President Adams, then 74 and a member of Congress. Adams believed firmly in the rightness of the cause, and eventually agreed to join Baldwin in arguments before the Court. "By the blessing of God, I will argue the case before the Supreme Court," Adams was quoted as saying. The U.S. District Court for The District of Connecticut ordered in January 1840 that the Amistad and its cargo be given to Lieutenant Gedney; and the Africans be returned to their homeland by the U.S. government. The federal government had outlawed the slave trade between the U.S. and other countries in 1808, and a law from 1818, amended in 1819, provided for the return of all illegally traded slaves. Please vote for Angel Maggie everyday in September so she can get her COTM badge. Thank you, Wolfie and Angel Maggie

Hi Wuzzy
Wolfie lets go over to Grove Street Cemetery, why Maggie, because there are several people there that were famous and important to the development of this country. One of them was Roger Sherman. Believe it or not my Mom worked for his distant relative and his name was Roger Sherman too. Roger Sherman was born in Newton Massachusetts near Boston. He was an early American lawyer and politician, as well as a founding father. In 1743, after his father's death, he moved on foot with his mother and siblings to New Milford, Connecticut, where in partnership with his brother, he opened the town's first store. He becoming one of the town's leading citizens and eventually town clerk of New Milford. Despite the fact that he had no formal legal training, Sherman was urged to read for the bar exam by a local lawyer and was admitted to the Bar of Litchfield, Connecticut in 1754, during which he wrote, A Caveat Against Injustice, and was chosen to represent New Milford in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1755 to 1758 and from 1760 to 1761. In 1766 he was elected to the Governor's Council of the Connecticut General Assembly, where he served until 1785. He was appointed justice of the peace in 1762, judge of the court of common pleas in 1765, and justice of the Superior Court of Connecticut from 1766 to 1789, when he left to become a member of the United States Congress. In 1790 he and Richard Law were appointed to massively revise the confused and archaic Connecticut statutes, which they accomplished with great success. In 1784 he was elected Mayor of New Haven, which office he held until his death. He is especially notable for being the only person to sign all four great state papers of the United States: the United States Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution. During the Constitutional Convention of 1787, summoned into existence to amend the Articles of Confederation, Sherman offered what came to be called the Great Compromise or Connecticut Compromise. In this plan, designed to be acceptable to both large and small states, the people would be represented proportionally in one branch of the legislature, called the House of Representatives, the lower house. The states would be represented in another house called the Senate, the upper house. In the lower house, each state had a representative for every one delegate. On the other hand, in the upper house each state was guaranteed two senators, no matter their size. Sherman is also memorable for his stance against paper money and his authoring of Article I, Section 10 of the United States Constitution. Thomas Jefferson said of him: "That is Mr. Sherman, of Connecticut, a man who never said a foolish thing in his life." Wow, that was so interesting Maggie and to think your Mom knew his distant relative. She said he was a very nice man too. Hope you enjoyed that little history lesson and please vote for my A.Maggie

Hi Wuzzy
Wolfie I am going to take you to a famous man's house where we can tour and learn all about him. My home town where I lived with Mom Pat was named after him. Samuel Huntington was born on July 16, 1731 in Windham, Connecticut. He was the fourth of ten children, but the oldest boy. He had a limited education in the common schools and was self educated. His education came from the library of Rev. Ebenezer Devotion and books borrowed from local lawyers. In 1754 Samuel was admitted to the bar and moved to Norwich, Connecticut to begin practicing law. He married Martha Devotion, Ebenezer's daughter in 1761. Huntington began his politcal career in earnest in 1764 when Norwich sent him as one of their representatives to the lower house of the Connecticut Assembly. He continued to be returned to that office each year until 1774. In 1775 he was elected to the upper house, the Governor's Council, where he was reelected until 1784. In addition to serving in the legislature, he was appointed King's attorney for Connecticut in 1768 and in 1773 was appointed to the colony's supreme court, then know as the Superior Court. He became chief justice of the Superior court in 1784. Huntington was an outspoken critic of the Coercive Acts of the British Parliament. As a result, the assembly elected him in October 1775 to become one of their delegates to the Second Continental Congress. In January 1776 he took his place with Roger Sherman and Oliver Wolcott as the Connecticut delegation in Philadelphia. He voted for and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. When John Jay left to become minister to Spain, Huntington was elected to succeed him as President of the Continental Congress on September 28, 1779. He spent his time as president urging the states and their legislatures to support the levies for men, supplies and money needed to fight the Revolutionary War. The Articles of Confederation were finally ratified during his term. Huntington remained as Presiden of Congress until July 9, 1781 when ill health forced him to resign and return to Connecticut. He returned to the Congress as a delegate for the 1783 session. In 1785 he was elected as Lieutenant Governor for Connecticut serving with Governor Matthew Griswold. In 1786 he followed Griswold as Governor of Connecticut and was reelected annually until his death in 1796. In 1788 he presided over the Connecticut Convention that was called to ratify the United States Constitution. In later years he saw the transition of Connecticut into a U.S. State. He resolved the issue of a permanent state capital at Hartford and oversaw the construction of the state house. He died while in office at his home in Norwich on January 5, 1796. Huntington, Connecticut was named in his honor in 1789 but later renamed to Shelton when that town incorporated with Shelton to form a city in 1919. Hope you enjoyed learning about Samuel Huntington and his accomplishments. Please vote Angel Maggie COTM everyday

The Star Spangled Banner

"Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

.....And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

Hi Wuzzy
Wolfie as long as we are in New Haven Connecticut lets go over to the Peabody Museum. I know that my Mom loves this museum every since she was a little girl in grade school.
The Peabody Museum was founded in 1866 by George Peabody and is one of the oldest museums in the world devoted to anthropology. The Museum has one of the most comprehensive collections of North American archaeology and ethnology in the world. The largest collection of artifacts known to have survived the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804–06. Important collections from South America, including more than 5,000 ancient Peruvian textiles. The finest archaeological documentation of the Maya, as well as the most extensive and varied collection of Mesoamerican artifacts and sculpture outside Mexico. Early and rare historical collections from the Pacific Islands, especially Hawaii, Fiji, and Tonga. One of the ten largest photographic archives, documenting the cultures of indigenous peoples across the world. A strong relationship to indigenous communities whose histories and cultures are reflected in the collections.
Wolfie hold my paws we are going into the Great Hall of Dinosaurs and I heard it is so over powering the first sight of the largest skeleton ever assembled.
The Great Hall of Dinosaurs is the centerpiece of the Yale Peabody Museum. Featuring skeletons from the Museum’s world-renowned paleontology collections, it is also home to Rudolph Zallinger’s famous mural The Age of Reptiles.
Opened in 1926, the Great Hall was designed to house some of the extensive fossils collected in the late 19th century for O.C. Marsh, among them the Peabody’s largest mounted skeleton, an Apatosaurus. Nearby are the reconstructed skeletons of Camarasaurus, Stegosaurus and Camptosaurus. Also on display in the Great Hall: Petrified Wood: Rainbows in Stone
Other fossils in the Great Hall include: Skeletons and a model of the carnivorous dinosaur Deinonychus Archelon, the largest species of turtle ever known Skeletons of the toothed birds Hesperornis and Icthyornis A composite slab of fossil dinosaur footprints from Connecticut A fossil crinoid, the “sea lily” Seirocrinus. Wow, Maggie this was so exciting you were right very scary too. Hope everyone enjoy this tour today. Please vote for my Angel Maggie everyday in September so she can get her COTM badge. Thank you, Wolfie and Angel Maggie Thanks for the kind words about my campaign tour.

Hi Wuzzy
Maggie where do you want to go today? How about going to New Haven and to the Sleeping Giant State Park. Why do they call it Sleeping Giant, Maggie? You’ll see the closer we get to Mount Carmel the more visible the Sleeping Giant is on top. Sleeping Giant, also known as Mount Carmel, of south-central Connecticut, with a high point of 739 feet, is a rugged traprock mountain located 8 miles north of New Haven. It is part of the narrow, linear Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border. A prominent landscape feature visible for miles, the Sleeping Giant receives its name from its anthropomorphic resemblance to a slumbering human figure as seen from both the north and south. The Giant is known for its expansive clifftop vistas, rugged topography, and microclimate ecosystems. Most of the Giant is located within Sleeping Giant State Park. The mountain is a popular recreation resource; over 30 miles of hiking trails traverse it including 5 miles of the 23-mile Quinnipiac Trail. Quinnipiac University is located at Mount Carmel's foot in Hamden. According to Native Americans of the Quinnipiac Tribe, the giant stone spirit Hobbomock or Hobomock, a prominent wicked figure in many stories, became enraged about the mistreatment of his people and stamped his foot down in anger, diverting the course of the Connecticut River, where the river suddenly swings east in Middletown, Connecticut after several hundred miles of running due south. To prevent him from wreaking such havoc in the future, the good spirit Keitan cast a spell on Hobbomock to sleep forever as the prominent man-like form of the Sleeping Giant. During the mid-19th century, spurred by the painters of the Hudson River School and transcendentalist philosophers such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, an interest in mountains as a respite from industrialization and urbanization took hold in New England. Summer cottages were built on the Sleeping Giant and many other locations on the Metacomet Ridge. In 1888, John H. Dickerman built a carriage road on the Giant and opened what he called Blue Hills Park. He held picnics with ice cream on the ledges for local residents. Conservation of the Giant began in 1924 with the creation of the Sleeping Giant Park Association (SGPA) by a group of local residents concerned with ongoing traprock quarrying on the Giant's head. A cottage owner, Judge Willis Cook, had leased his property to the Mount Carmel Traprock Company for the purpose of quarrying traprock for building materials. The blasting away of what was a beloved landscape feature resulted in public outrage, well reported by local newspapers at the time. Under the leadership of James W. Toumey, a Yale University forestry professor, the SGPA undertook a ten year struggle with the traprock operation. The property was purchased by the SGPA in 1933 and became the Sleeping Giant State Park.

Hi Wuzzy
Woflie while we are here at the Yale University library lets look up another famous Connecticut born revolutionary soldier. Ethan Allen, didn’t he build furniture, Maggie laughed and said they just used his name on the furniture but he was a Green Mountain man and fought for freedom from the British. An American Revolutionary War soldier and Vermont leader, Ethan Allen (1738-1789) achieved a place in history by capturing Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. He championed Vermont's drive for statehood. Vermont became the 14th state in the Union in 1791 two years after Ethan Allen died. Allen was born in 1738, the eldest son of a substantial farmer in Litchfield, Conn. His father's early death left him with the responsibility of caring for his mother and seven other children, and it brought his schooling—he was preparing to enter Yale College—to a permanent end. Allen, however, had a genuine intellectual bent, and he was to write a number of pamphlets on such diverse subjects as the taking of Ticonderoga, Vermont's controversies with New York, and religion. From 1770 to 1775 Allen and his Green Mountain Boys harassed the New York surveyors, sheriffs, and settlers who had invaded Vermont, which was then commonly known as the Hampshire Grants. Even so, Allen felt the need to take British Fort Ticonderoga in case Anglo-American hostilities should erupt. Allen then joined Schuyler's army as a volunteer and was sent to operate behind the British lines with a body of Canadian recruits. He and John Brown, who was leading a similar group, decided to surprise and capture Montreal on their own. Unfortunately for Allen, word got to the town that "Ethan Allen the Notorious New Hampshire Incendiary" was at hand. When Brown's men failed to show up, Allen was easily overwhelmed. "Mr. Allen's imprudence," as Schuyler noted, had brought about his defeat and capture. Following a nearly 3-year captivity spent mainly in England and New York City, Allen was exchanged, but he never again had an active role in the Revolution. Please vote for Angel Maggie for COTM everyday in September. Thank you, Angel Maggie and Wolfie

Hi Wuzzy
Come on Wolfie lets go over to the Yale University Library. Isn't it beautiful? Yes it is but what are we doing here. We are going to look up a man that everyone knows, Benedit Arnold, but might be surprised to find out what a great general he really was and why he became a traitor to his own country. He was a great General!!! Yes he was. He was born on January 14, 1747 in Norwich Connecticut. He lived his life here until he married his first wife and than she died. In 1779 he married Margaret Shippen. That name is still here in the state my Mom worked with a Shippen who owns the oil company in Newtown Connecticut. Margaret Shippen gave birth to four sons and a daughter. She assisted him in his conspiracy against the Americans by working as a messenger between Arnold and the British Major John Andre. Arnold was a very brave man and favored by Washington. But he became a traitor when he was not paid according to his merits and was humiliated by his seniors. The Colonial Congress declined to give him back payment he was worthy of and also condemned him on the base of fake gossips rumored by a political and social competitor. Even though he is remembered in the history of America as a traitor, the fact is that in his early years, General Arnold fought for America very bravely and averted the British attach from Canada which resulted in America's victory at Saratoga. This helped America to have an agreement with the French. Before the West Point conspiracy, in 1780 he was considered one of the best generals of America. A statue has been installed in America to show respect to him, but his name is not inscribed on it. He left for New York and then escaped to England in the year 1781. Though, for the rest of his life he fought for the British and proved his loyalty, he was not remembered as a hero by the British. Arnold's conspiracy against his own country caused the modern day term Benedict Arnold to be used for a traitor. Hope you enjoyed that bit of history on a man who we think must of lead a very lonely life. Angel Maggie and Wolfie. Please vote for me everyday in September for my COTM badge. Thank you

Come visit me, Miles & Q. Angel Maggie.

Hi Wuzzy
Where do you want to go today Maggie, Wolfie holds the car door open for her and she says lets go to Guilford Connecticut. Guilford is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, that borders Madison, Branford, North Branford and Durham, and is situated on I-95 and the coast. It was named one of the top 100 places to live in the United States by Money magazine in 2005. First settled in 1639 after being purchased from Native American leader Wequash, Guilford is considered by some to have the third largest collecion of historic homes in New England, with important buildings from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. There are five historic house museums, including Dudley Farm and the Henry Whitfield House built in 1639, the oldest dwelling house in Connecticut and the oldest stone house in North America. The Comfort Starr house built in 1645, is one of the oldest wooden framed private dwellings in Connecticut, and one of the few houses remaining of the original signers who settled Guilford. What a beautiful colony isn't Wolfie, I would love to live there. Wolfie held Maggies paw and they continued there tour. The english Puritan founders of Guilford, Connecticut arrived here in the summer of 1639 and immediately began building thatched-roof log cabins for themselves. For their esteemed leader, Reverend Henry Whitfield, however, they built a fine stone residence. The solid structure could also be used, along with three other stone houses built for leaders, as protection against hostile raids, should they occur. Wolfie look at the size of the fireplaces a 6 foot tall person could walk into it without bending at all. What a beautiful house isn't it? No wonder this house still stands look at how they built it with these beautiful stones. You know New England is very rocky and New Englanders threw nothing away they used the stones to make homes and stone wall fences that still stand to this day. But the thatched cottages and the other three stone houses of early Guilford are long gone, but Reverend Whitfield's house survives as the oldest house in Connecticut and the oldest stone house in New England. After we finish touring the old houses lets go down to the shore and have lunch at the Old Stone House Restaurant. Your Mom and Ricky's Mom with my Mom went there this summer and they loved the restaurant and the views. Wolfie opened the car door for Maggie and off they went to the resturant. Hope you enjoyed this tour it was one of my Mom's special places to go so I wanted to share it with you and all our friends. Please vote for Angel Maggie everyday in September for COTM. Today we will be having the privilege of watching Cherish and her instructors and students as the preform some aerial acrobatics for us. Take it away Cherish

The flight of 21 planes approaches slowly from the east. They are in a V formation, then break away to form three groups of 7. Each group takes its turn doing an aerial stunt. The first group does backward loops, the second does spirals upward, and the third group comes in fast then climbs steeply and each turns out backwards to make a sunburst pattern. After these group performances, each pilot takes his or her turn doing horizontal spirals across the front of the crowd. The finale is ten of the planes coming in quickly from the left, another ten from the right, and rotating sideways as they pass one another, passing plane bottom to plane bottom, just inches apart … at the same time the lead plane comes in from directly ahead then suddenly climbs just before reaching the crowd. The plane spirals upward, climbing almost out of sight.

We have worked hard on this performance and hope it has pleased the King and his guests. Please come back to the hangar area later to meet and greet the fliers, and to see the aircraft.

It has been a wonderful 2 months and I will be handing off the crown to Angel Henry at 4pm pacific time at the mews room. I want to thank you all for making my reign at the castle so much fun. Your participation in our fantasy world is what makes it work and be fun for all.

Mom took me to the vet first thing this morning as my ear infection returned with a vengeance. I had not eaten since Sunday morning. They made me go nighties and then they cleaned out my ears real good and put medicine way down in them and gave me a shot. Then they gave mom lots of medicine for her to fight with me about. Mom also acquired a very cute little fluff ball who is 10 to 14 days old and was found under a car. They broght him into the vets office and mom found herself volunteering to foster him. Boy I cant leave mom alone for a minute. I have returned to the castle and the first thing I did when I got back was eat.

Today I would like to do one of my favorite activities and we are going atv riding. I have my trusty 3 wheeler and Misty has her pink one. All the others are free to chose from for your ride. Sammy has packed up scrumptious lunches for us to take. When we finish riding for the day Chef Sammy is cooking up my favorite meal of steak and lobster. Yum!!! Its hard to believe this is my last day at the castle.
