You sure are pretty girl. My mom saw a recipe you left on Immenence site for catnip cookies. Even though I am.old man and have no teeth left I still eat treats. The neighbors may have broke my jaw but not my appetite. Do u think your mom could leave recipe on my site so it will be easy for my mom to have access to the recipe. I'd appreciate it. My mom.grows a lot of catnip which she gives out as gifts for my freinds here in Kingston and she always has a lot she could put to.good use like your catnip cookie recipe. Rocky was originally found by a SAVE A PET sponsor that his soon to be pawrents knew about. His feline mother had died and he was all alone with his sister and brother. When he was first found he had so many fleas on him they had trouble telling what color his fur was. Because of their loving care he is all better now. Unfortunately his little brother had severe health problems and crossed the Rainbow Bridge while his sister now lives with the SAVE A PET sponsor. Rocky is now a very healthy 2 year old and shares his furever home with Josie who is 4. His meowmy says “for a cat who has gone through a lot he sure is the sweetest cat in the world!” Both Rocky and Josie are also hockey stars who now play on the DesPURRados Mouse Hockey Team.

Vote For Blackie #92663 on Wed Aug 18th for COTD
Blackie is 6 years old now and was rescued from a shelter and brought into his loving furever home 5 years ago. His best friend Buddy died 2 years ago and he was so sad that he couldn’t even eat for a couple of days. Then another feline named Molly joined the family. It took Blackie a while to get used to her but he likes her now and just loves chasing her all over the house.
Recently both Blackie and Molly picked up some kind of infection. No one know how because they are both indoor pets but the Vet seems to think it could be stress related because the neighbor’s cat was trying to get after Blackie and would throw herself against the window. A little while later he became very sick and was diagnosed with IBD. He is much better now but has to watch what he eats. Molly is doing much better too.

Please VOTE Buddy #176170 COTD Tues. Aug. 17th
Today we’re heading to Staten Island, NY to find our COTD candidate. Buddy #176170 is a handsome 1 year old yellow striped kitty that was found abandoned in an apartment after his drug using owner left him to fend for himself in the empty apartment. He was scared, lonely & hungry when the landlord (future dad’s friend) went to clean the place up. Being a cat lover himself; he was prepared to take him home with him but said that he’d need to stay outside in their yard since they already had other cats inside. His future dad spoke up & said he’d take the poor kitty home with him so he could stay inside where he’d be safe & loved as he should be. Buddy #176170 was immediately taken to the vet to get a checkup & to help rid him of the fleas plus have big boy surgery. Then, much to his surprise, he was given a new lease on life & taken to a happy new furever home. Buddy #176170 has thrived under the loving care of his new family & now enjoys spending his days lounging in the windows & playing with his sibling Jake. He adores shrimp dinners, jumping & just being a young boy kitty. He probably can’t remember the life he had before he was adopted into a caring family, but we know how special they think he is & what a content kitty he’s become so we’d like to help him get a COTD badge to show him our support too. TODAY'S INSTALLMENT OF THE STORY OF JEZEBEL
So… Jezzy was back, and Mom was happy again. She knew that her Jezebel was alive and safe, at least. That was the good part. The bad part? Jezzy’s “owner”. Yes, Whitney and that bunch still claimed ownership. When Mom expressed to them how afraid she’d been all winter that something bad had happened to Jezebel, they said “No, we just kept her inside.” WHAT? They were able to keep her inside during the winter? And they hadn’t bothered to let Mom know this? First, if they could keep her inside during the winter, why couldn’t they do it during the rest of the year? And secondly, why had they not had the consideration to let Mom know she was all right, since they knew how much Mom loves Jezzy and worries about her? Well, we will never know the answer to those questions. We can only assume that they are uncaring and inconsiderate people. But that shouldn’t be any surprise, should it? No matter now, life was back to “normal” and Mom had her Jezzy back. Of course, she worried constantly about Jezebel being outside. Mom knows all the dangers out there, unfortunately. Dogs, wild animals, poisonous and poisoning people, and traffic. That’s just to name a few. But Jezebel seems to have street smarts beyond what normal cats have, so she kept herself safe. Just look at the way she sought out Mom from the minute she came to the neighborhood! Yup, Jezebel is smart! Just not *quite* smart enough. There came the inevitable day when Jezebel came into heat. Mom warned her owners that Jezzy was in heat. She advised them strongly to either get Jezzy fixed or keep her locked up safely in the house. Their response? They didn’t have the money to get her fixed and the four-year old kept letting her out!

Isabel was an early birthday present to her Mom from her daughter. She is named after her great aunt who, at the age of 86, loved her animals so much that she refused to leave them as Hurricane Katrina approached New Orleans…It was over two weeks before she and her animals were rescued. Six months later she passed away knowing that her animals would be taken care of. Vote COTD Diego & Eynie #159719 Tues Aug 10th
Today we’re heading to the southern state of Alabama to meet Diego & Eynie #159719 & to hear the stories of how they met their furever mum.

Diego’s furdad & furmom were introduced to each other & began dating. Nature, as usual, took its course & three beautiful kittens were born on July 3, 2003. Diego’s brother & sister were soon adopted, but the plans for Diego’s new home fell through. His furdad’s mum fell in love with the handsome little guy & he soon found himself wrapped in her loving arms at her home. He became a marvelous hunter & often brings trophies showing his skills go his mum. He also manages to show them off to his sibling, Eynstein aka Eynie, who is several years younger, & the other half of our featured COTD pair today.

Eynie started out his life a little differently than his older sib. Diego’s mum had taken some time off work one spring so she could get some things done around the house, & had gone in to pick up her paycheck. As she was leaving the office she heard a sad meow in the staff parking lot & went to investigate. There she discovered a tiny kitten that was hungry, lonely & scared. She automatically picked up the kitten & took him home with her to be loved & comforted. The next day he made his first vet trip to see if he had been chipped or tattooed but none were found so she took him back home. Eynie heard dad say that mum needed to see if he belonged to anyone before she officially adopted him into their home so she went to work printing out flyers to hand out to the neighbors & also going door-to-door, but no one claimed this adorable tabby. The path of Eynie’s life was now clear! He was adopted by his rescuer mom & grew into the happy, handsome guy you see today. He, like his sibling, Diego, is also very adept at hunting & is often compared to a panther stalking his prey.

THE STORY OF JEZEBEL PART 9
For weeks, then months, Mom looked for Jezebel. Every time she went outside she would look for “her” kitty¸ and would come back in heartbroken all over again. She did consider going down to Whitney’s to ask, but thought that she would have already told Mom if Jezzy was being kept inside. It was hard for Mom to believe that anyone would be that inconsiderate. Mom cried every time she thought about Jezebel, thinking for sure that something bad had happened to her. It broke her heart to think of this beautiful little kitty laying dead somewhere, or maybe something worse. She blamed herself for it, too. She knew in her heart that she should have taken that kitty in, but her head had overruled her.

Vote for Sugar #173252 on WED 08/04/10 for COTD!!!
One day a Mama Cat showed up with her 2 kittens who were a bit on the wild side. They got preggers and each had 3 kittens who were all taken to be “fixed”. They all went outdoors after this. Things went fine until his human Mom found Sugar lying across the street and not moving. His back leg was just “dangling” there and he was cold and turning blue. Luckily the vet was just minutes away. Sugar survived the night and the next day his Mom took him to a specialist some 60 miles away. He was admitted and stayed there about 4 days. The vet had no choice but to remove Sugar’s right back leg. It’s been 3 years now and he is doing just fine..”What leg” he asks..He centers his left leg now and uses it just like a pogo stick. And BTW, he is now and INDOOR cat. Sugar just loves licking his Mom’s face, nose and chin and then when she leasts expects it, a little bite. But a gentle one. He now lives in a furever and happy home with all his sibs. Since joining CC he has found a girlfriend named Ballerina who is the love of his life. So let’s all paw this brave 4 year old fighter our COTD votes this WED, Aug 4th..

Please vote Trampy #175600 COTD Tues Aug 3rd
While driving down a road in CA, a driver saw a gray lump on the side of the road that resembled a kitten. Curious & concerned, the caring driver turned around to take a closer look & discovered it WAS a kitten. Trampy’s #175600 eyes wouldn’t open & his breathing wasn’t good so this cat loving person took him to the vet. He was about 6 weeks old but weighed less than half a pound & was completely infested with fleas. The concerned rescuer left him at the vet & went on to work but returned afterward to check on him. The vet & staff had managed to clean the crust off of his eyes & nose plus had forced fed him some baby food & started him on IV fluids. After being treated with Frontline, they gave his rescuer some antibiotics & eye medication, wished her good luck & sent her on her way. For the next two weeks this devoted mom took Trampy #175600 to work with her so she could put the medicine in his eyes every two hours as ordered & to feed him with his kitten formula & food. He gained weight but his eyes were still giving him problems & he still couldn’t see. She took him to an eye specialist who said he’d contracted herpes & they didn’t know if he’d ever see properly without surgery. They told mom to try another type of medicine in his eyes & after a while one of his eyes was partway open & he could see the finger dangling in front of his face. Being a kitten, he did what came naturally…he grabbed it! Joy filled the devoted cat lover’s heart. Another girl at work fell in love with him & wanted him, with a heavy heart, Trampy’s #175600 rescuer gave him to her thinking he’d get the proper love & attention, but her situation changed a short time later & she asked if Trampy’s rescuer momcat could possibly take him back. Her heart racing, she took the little guy back into her life & home where he resides to this day with two other kitties that are also close to his age. His eyes are almost normal now & he’s gained weight as well as becoming a happy, playful kitty that is very loving & showers his momcat with his kisses. THE STORY OF JEZEBEL AND HER KITTENS, continued--
Mom first met Jezebel in the summer of 2009. She was just a tiny thing, maybe 6 or 7 months old and very frightened at first of Mom. Actually, Momma thought that she had been dumped, just like at lot of my roommates. She started putting food out for this kitty, who is a very pretty (we’re told) Lynx Point Siamese mix. Pretty soon the kitty was coming to Mom whenever she would go outside, and Mom would spend an hour or so every evening out on the porch, giving Jezzy lots of love and attention, and food of course. Now, bear in mind that this cat wasn’t particularly well liked by me or any of the other cats in my Zoo. But Mom being Mom, we had to deal with her eventually. And so begins the story of Jezebel and the Kittens: (stay tuned…this is a story told in many parts.) MARKING THE SPOT: Cats are territorial and like to stake their claim to places and objects that are important to them. This could mean your favorite chair or even you, yourself. The way they do this is by 'marking', leaving their scent as a signpost to other cats that this particular area or object is 'taken'.

The most extreme form of 'marking' is spraying. Since this is regarded as a behavior problem, especially in cats who spend their time indoors, we'll talk about that later.

There are other forms of marking that aren't nearly as offensive - in fact most cat owners find them quite endearing.

HEAD BUTTING: This is what goes on when your cat, either diliberately or nonchalantly, walks up to you and gently rams his head into your shin. After this initial butt, he may rub his muzzle and the sides of his face against your leg. he may also do this with furniture and door frames.

A cat has scent glands near the corners of his mouth and on his cheeks. When he rubs his head against an object, he leaves a subtle odor of himself behind, a feline calling card, to let other cats know that he's been there and that they should be aware of his presence.

a domestic cat will do this even if there are no other cats in his enviroment. It's a deeply ingrained form of behavior that had an important territorial marking function in the wild where food was often scarce.. It's how cats establish a hunting ground for themselves, a way of discouraging competition. Males also do it in a usually unsuccessful attempt to keep other males away from a female in heat.

It's not an aggressive gesture, just a method of communication. When you are the object of this marking behavior, you should feel very flattered. Your cat is telling others of his kind that you are his 'special person'.

From Duckie's Desk: Do you know Angel Mugwump, #177288? Muggy was living in a cold barn with his brothers and sisters in 1989. He was the runt of the litter but he caught the eye of his forever family, who had just lost their cat. Muggy became the family's constant companion and eventually moved with to a new house when their son grew up and got married. He gave his family love and lived to be 20 years old. He crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge on May 6, 2010. Since you are an orange cat it is possible for you to join the Orange Crush hockey club. I believe I have one opening left. However, I will be assigning kitties to humans in the beginning of September. The Blackhawks are still making trades and I don't know if Colin Fraser will still be with the team in the fall. Our games are every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 7:30 PM EST. Which might be 6:30 for you, not sure what time zone you are in. Would you be able to make the games? We are only signing active kitties to teams, kitties who plan to attend games. Feel free to stop by for a practice session to see what it is like. We meet at the times I just listed at page #121904. In late summer, 2009, a litter of one-day old kittens was found in the parking lot of PetSmart. Rescue volunteers were quickly called: two of the kittens survived, Lily and her Tortie sister, Elizabeth. Lily was taken to an adoption event the day following her “big girl surgery”. She was hurting and wanted nothing to do with the people poking their fingers through the cage bars. The visitors were attracted to fluffy Elizabeth, but Lily wrapped her tail tightly against her body, looking away. A woman and her teenage daughter were there early, checking out the kittens. The teenager was interested in the fluffy playful kittens, but the mom only had eyes for scrawny Lily. Mom told the teenager that Lily would grow up to be glossy and elegant, and mom loved Lily’s oriental looks, with her oversize golden eyes. She phoned the foster mom to learn that Lily was normally an active, playful, and loving kitty. That did it: Mom was smitten with the kitten! On the way home, Lily turned on the purrs and captured the teenager’s heart forever.

Lily lives in her forever home with Mom, Dad, two teenagers, a dog and a bunny. She has been a constant source of love and entertainment for the family, and they adore her. Lily’s motto is “forever homes rule!” and she thinks her home does rule!

What’s purring with you? Today is sorta an anniversary for me. It was one year ago today that I had my last skin treatment for that awful feline demodicosis. I had a total of 5 treatments, every two weeks. I was one very sick little boy. Mommy thought she was going to lose me. But thankfully with Dr. William’s knowledge, my sweet vet tech Alicia’s expertise, Nana’s TLC, and many many prayers from my furiends, I recovered. Stress can cause acute flare-ups of this disease, so Mommy is constantly worried about me. We hope & pray that I nor anyone else ever goes through that experience again.

So today we are celebrating my long journey to being a healthy, happy little fellow again. It is also Graduation Day from Cat College. Check out our graduation photos. We graduated Magna Felis Laude (with top honors)! Since all of our award boxes were already full, we did not receive a C.A.T degree. But never fear, Mommy has emailed CC Support about that!

VOTE FOR ELMER #173244 COTD ON 7/21/10
One day a ragged looking, dirty, starving tomcat got dumped once again. But this time, he struck gold. He found the pot at the end of the rainbow. A good home was right there in front of him. This fantastic cat loving Mom snapped him up, took him to the V-E-T where his days as a tom were ended. He was treated for URI, got his infected teeth pulled, and got cleaned up. Then it was discovered he was FIV positive. Not a problem for this Mom. She fattened him up and with this good nutrition, he can look forward to many safe years. Amazingly he has been reunited with 2 of his daughters and their Mama, his former amor. What more can you ask? A VOTE!!! ELMER needs VOTES so he can become a COTD. His present GF, Pouncer, will be so excited for her Pinto Boy that there will be dancing in the moonlight and lots of smooching. So stop by on Wednesday and say hello to ELMER and paw that vote button.
WINSTON #28991 is more than halfway through his catpaign. I bet it is easier to make goals than c/p every day. (In fact, I know it is, Casey says). So keep up the good work and he will have a snazzy crown real soon.

How are you doing today? It sure has been hot and humid and so my sisters and I only go outside early in the morning and sometimes in the evening. I am not complaining because at least I am able to enjoy the fresh air. Hehehe.!!!! I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to come by and say " Thank-you " for stopping by to wish me a Happy Birthday on July 4th. And, for all of the goodies and treats that you left as well. I am deeply grateful for everything but, most importantly, for your friendship. CC is the best place in the world and I am so happy that we have found all of you. This time of year is especially busy for Mom. She is picking vegetables from her garden and freezing them. A lot of work but it is worth it come Winter time. So, that being said, my Thank-you notes got way behind. It is all Mom's fault, I promise. So, please forgive us. Being of the Senior catagory, my birthday was pretty laid back. Mom made sure that I received canned food for all meals and my share of Friskies Pawty Mix Treats too. I also had a little extra time outside, long before all of the fireworks of course. Hehehe.!!! Dear Cookey,

We hope that you had a fantastic weekend. We had so much fun at Boo Kitty’s pawty and we’re thrilled that she is being honored today. The other exciting news is about the piece of wood in our Avatar from Camp Kitty. It started to whittle & change. We think it might become a boat but we’ll have to wait and see. That would be pretty funny for a bunch of cats to have their own purr-sonal boats. That’s definitely not a sight you would see everyday. MOL! Our Mom posted four videos of us yesterday. We individually entered the Camp Kitty talent contest and then we posted one for fun of the three of us watching our Bird Sitter DVD. We’re not sure about the painting activity for this week.

Today’s COTD candidate, Josie #156643 hails from the beautiful state of New York. She was found at a local SPCA & made an immediate impression on her soon-to-be furever family. This gray striped tabby kitten was the only one that stuck her paw out when they stopped to peek into the cages. She’d already decided that this was the right family for her so how could they possible refuse the warm gentle kitten kisses that Josie #156643 had for them? They couldn’t…MOL! She wrapped their hearts around her little paws that day at the SPCA & Josie #156643 went home with them to live. She’s a happy cat that shares her house with a brother, Rocky, & a puppy named Baxter. She says the puppy gets on her nerves frequently but that’s nothing compared to the aggravation she gets when she sees her brother eating her food! Her sassy catitude can put the boys back into their places pretty quick but soon her fun loving side takes over & all is forgiven, for the time being. She’s a sassy, fly catching huntress that enjoys snacking on her prey when she gets them in her clutches. A fly has no chance at all with this curious kitty’s paws running around! Her naturally curious nature has earned her the loving family nickname of Nosey Josie & she wears it proudly. She loves to sneak a snack of turkey lunchmeat every chance she gets & then goes to sleep on the luxurious softness of her personal pillow. She doesn’t hesitate to say that she’s a daddy’s girl even though she loves her meowmy dearly. Her purrs of love can’t be stopped when her family talks about how beautiful, sassy & fun she is to be around plus how proud they are of her. Wow, that makes Mommy and me soooo happy that you are feeling better. We don't like it when our kitty furiends or their pawents are sick. Mommy did something Saturday for Amy that was scary, she helped Amy shave Sage.( Picture at the bottom of my page, top row last picture Sage is Black and White Long Hair) Mommy brought over a new pair of gardening gloves that are rubber and cloth. Amy wrapped Sage in a towel and they started to shave Sage. She was O.K. for a few minutes and then it started, Mommy calls her the kitty from Hell!!!! It worked out alright but Mommy was scared she never saw Sage act that way. Amy needed a favor and she has been so good to Mommy and Me you know giving me the fluids and everything else when I was so sick. One good deed deserves another but Mommy almost lost her hand but all's well that ends well. Hope you are having a great day, leaving you some micecream and cookies topped with a vote.
