The Friskies, the cat Oscar award
All CatChannel felines are winners!
An hour and 25 minutes of funny, cute and interesting short feline videos consisting of four categories:
1. CATness: the essence of cat behavior, capture a cat (or multiple cats) just being a cat, moments of pure cat wonder, quirkiness, and delight;
2. CATcom: capture a cat (or multiple cats) in a humorous situation;
3. CATventure: capture an indoor cat (or multiple cats) on an adventure;
4. CATchall: miscellaneous category for Entries that don't fit in to one of the other categories.
Judging criteria:
Originality & overall artistic impression (25%)
Cinematography & overall technical production (15%)
Audience appeal & entertainment quality (15%)
Portraying cat playfulness or quirks (if appropriate) (15%)
Sense that there's a story being told (15%)
Portraying cat's perspective (15%)
This year's awards took place in October but never to early to videotape kitties for the next event.

Callie and I (her Mom) want to thank you for your prayerful support. We know it is helping. I will blog when I can but I am not sure how often that will be right now. As I get back my strength I will be blogging more. I'm suffering from renal problems that were aggravated by my Diabetes and caused a silent heart attack. Callie is taking good care of me and Aunt Dixie and Uncle Jim are helping loving Callie. We are so lucky to have them. =^.^=Come visit me, Callie.

Stopped by to fill Sammy in on me and now I will tell you the latest on eveyone else.
Callie's mom got really sick. Mom said that she was in the hospital and that Callie needed extra pawres. (prayers). She is home now. Mom went over to make sure Callie was okay, she even put the TV on the animal planet for her to have the noise. I can't imagine being all alone, that had to be scary for our sister. Mom says that every thing is getting back to normal. Callie is happy and joyful. Demanding attention and her food.
I heard her tell Callies mom to behave herself, she wants no more trips to that hospital place. I know what she means by that Hospitals are no fun and they stick all kinds of things in you.
Well thats it for now.

This is going to be a short form note until a later day. I have been unable to keep in touch because Mom was not here to type for me. Mom was taken to the hospital by ambulance, Aunt D. took care of me. She did a five job but I missed Mom. Those ambulance people just came in and took my mommy without a goodbye. They have no right she us MY mom. Mom got home last night. She is better bit very weak. She had the stomach flu, then low blood sugars ended up causing a sulent heart attack but minimal damage. Just get my strength back now. Aunt Dixie saved the day once again. I will write more later when Mom is stronger.=^.^=Come visit me, Callie.

Sis just got done writing to Sammy , I told her I would write to you. She gets tired real fast nowdays. We don't know what is going on with her, mom and dad tell us that she is sick. We know somthing is wrong she doesn't want to play with us just watch from the bedroom. She went to the Dr. (smell that office smell) and when they got home mom put a litter box in their closet and food dishes and water fountain in their bedroom. We were not allowed in the bedroom for a couple of days. Dad slept in the bedroom with Sis and mom slept out on the couch with us. We can not be in the bedroom when Sis gets her food, mom gets it ready and walks into the bedroom calling Sis and if we try to go in to she stops us. Sis gets wet food all the time we only get it as a treat, it is sooooo unfair.!!! After Sis eats mom picks up the wet food and then they give her somekind of shot. Sis isn't to happy with that so I guess that it is okay for her to have the wet food. Sis lost a lot of weight she is now the smallest kitty in the house for sure. She is still the boss no one pushes her around out of respect, she is to tired to fight with anyone even AJ. But he has been good so far just teasing Abby to no end. We all hang out on the bed together at some point during the day. Mom gets sad at times, they have been talking about Abner Sr. again and how he was toward Sis at times . He would get to chasing her and the hissing and grrrruallinggggg would scare anyone around. Mom said that Sis brought it on herself being mean to him for so long. Weird how they think about the past. If your mom has any insights as to what else mom and dad can do to help Sis please pass the words of wisdom on. Thanks Buddy.

I am asking for prayers for a family who are friends of ours. They took their beautiful kitty to the vet for her annual check-up knowing she was not exactly up to par but thought it was probably age related. SIssy is going to be nine years old next month. Well, it could be worse but it is bad enough. she is diabetic with some kidney involvement. It will be a month before all the blood tests are back and they know how much the kidneys are affected too. In the meanwhile they have to learn to give injections to their baby, learn to check her blood sugar, get her insulin,make sure she eats her special food and not her brother and sisters and vice versa. She is one of a family of four.If any of you have been through this and want to share with her I'm sure she would like to hear from you at Sissy #151207. Sissy was my mirror twin at birth. Her Human Mom and mine are friends. She has a super good vet but those who have lived with a condition often have learned simple things that make things work easily for others. Wow such weather. While I was blogging yesterday the ice built up to the breading point. We had a wide spread power outage. We were only out about 5 hours but many were out more than 24 hours. We have electric heat so we would be very cold after that long. Mom & I went to bed and read to keep warm. It works. Mom is achy today. It is supposed to warm up but it is raining. Mom must really be busy in school. I hope you are all okay. We are fine except for this freezing fog. Crazy weather but better than an earthquake like Haiti. The tv is so bad but Mom can not turn it off, Those poor, poor, people. How much can they be expected to go through.? I guess as much as it takes. I know they do not have to go through alone. God's image just does not show through the TV screen as easy as the misery. I know he is there in the minds, hands and feet of every man, woman and child that is there trying to help whether by lifting and digging or kneeling and praying. Sometimes I think the praying is the harder job because you do not feel the accomplishment of moving a rock or getting dirty.

We are sure that your mom feels a little lost with not working right now. Just wait school is going to fill that void very well. We're sure that she will be a great vet. tech.. Tell your mom that she has our pawrents support in going back to school.
It is soooooooooo blasted cold here, and the snow is unbelievable. We hang out on mom and dads bed during the afternoon. If it is sunny out our family room is pretty nice. Our cat room that what mom calls it. They built a room on the patio, not a three seasons room a real wood built room. But it doesn't have any heat ducts, so there is a free standing heater out there. (It is one of those we can be around and on.) The room is really nice in the morning hours the sun really comes in the windows. But after the sun goes down we are in the rest of the house with mom and dad.
Have to run for now.

Please give a COTD VOTE of support THURS., Jan. 7, to ENGINE #147060, also known as Miss Squeakers, the darling little rescue girl with a purr like a finely tuned engine! Little Engine was heard meowing one morning in the parking deck where her adopted Mom works. By the end of the work day, poor Engine was HOWLING in the parking deck! It took her adopted Mom 3 hours, a new cat carrier, some string, and a can of tuna fish to finally entice Little Engine to extend a wee paw into the carrier. Thankfully, Engine did not have to try to survive long in the parking deck as this is no place for a kitten. ENGINE is so relieved she found the courage to take those steps into the carrier as her Adopted Mom & Dad not only give her unconditional love, they belong to 11 other kitties who are part of this loving family! You might know some of Engine’s siblings : Exit, Rhubarb, Biscuit, Ping, Orzo, Strudel and Felix are also on CC! Needless to say, Engine is no longer a wee kitten. She is actually sort of “fluffy” as she is working on her second belly. Her rescue words of wisdom: One needs to have extra insulation in case of a kibble shortage! Her only pet peeve at this time is Sophie, who Engine calls the kitty pest of the family! Lets give Engine a COTD vote of support THURSDAY to help her receive a January COTD badge Friday morning!

This weather is too cold to go outside for any reason so please do not go outside. I hope Mom will not have to go to school if it is so terrible cold and then snowy too. It is a bad combination to be sure. Mom and I are trying hard to stay warm. If it gets to bad we crawl in bed and read a book. I help her read. I try and chew the page or turn it before she is ready. Where is Hudson's Hope, British Columbia, you may ask? Well, Find Lake Williston in the center of the province and go east following Farrell Creek, Can't miss it as it is located just off HIghway 29 (or Beattie Drive). It's a hopping place as HH has a museum, a hotel, and the Peace Glen Pub. More importantly, it is the home of a very dedicated lady who rescues abused and abandoned felines. Each of the cats in her home has a harrowing story to tell, and THOMAS'S is one of the worsts. Please go over and read his story and click the vote button for THOMAS #136556. Tippi was one of the countless female cats who was not spayed, so when she was abandoned by her former owners, she soon became "expecting". Tippi worked hard to scrounge enough food to feed herself and the little lives growing inside her. One night, Tippi found a discarded ice cream cup in the middle of the street. She hurried to get a few bites between cars. Her new Mom saw what was going on and picked up Tippi and took her home where she would be loved and cared for. Soon enough, Tippi rewarded her with 4 of the most beautiful kittens anyone has ever seen! One of them looks like Nappy, Jr.! This beautiful Persian was adopted into her new family after they lost their 16 year old, Sadie, due to renal failure. She loves her family but does not like anyone to touch her soft, silky coat. Zoe loves it when her siblings have kittens as she develops her own maternial instinct and helps to watch over and play with the little ones. She also enjoys playing with the DA Bird feather toy.
