How We Met

The day my boyfriend's dog died was a hard one. He'd had her since he was a kid, and the loss was a hard one. It was getting dark, and it had been raining. I asked Brandon to accompany me to get the laundry, which was by the landlord's house on the other side of the property. We together walked in silence; across the yard, up the laundry room steps, and were about to go in, when we both heard a tiny squeak from upstairs on the landlord's deck. We paused and listened; again we heard the squeak, which sounded slightly more like a tiny "mew." We looked at each other; the landlords didn't like cats; what would a kitten be doing up there? We went upstairs to investigate, and spied a tiny, palm-sized kitten under a chair. Cold, wet, barely big enough to hold herself up...and no mother or other kittens in sight. The landlord came outside to see what was going on...he was not happy about the kitten appearing on the deck; he looked a little annoyed, then asked, "Do you guys want it?" Of course I said "YES," and I scooped her up and went to put her inside my warm jacket.... when Brandon took her and immediately began cooing as he put her in his jacket. So it began...the legacy of Princess Porsche. Six years later, Porsche is still very spoiled, usually gets her way, and we couldn't be happier with our snotty kitty:)
