My Cat Profile

Turkish Van from Pittsburgh, PA

About Me

Active within 1959 Days

Hi! My name is Pissot

I am a Turkish Van from Pittsburgh, PA

Nicknames: Monsieur Pissot
Kit Kat
Mister Whiskers
Perma Sheen

Age: 7 years old

Gender: M

Coat: long haired

Education: learned to use the litter tray from the very first day with my new family and haven't looked back since!

My favorite tricks and treats are: standing on my hind legs, kissing my sister, swimming apparently! and barbecued minced meat, no spices. 9th heaven!

Where I hang out: between the VCR and DVD players

My favorite grubs: used to be canned tuna, until my family decided it caused too much "motion" and they've had me on dry foods since. but i love the occasional simple meats, eggs, or steamed carrots and courgettes they make for me.

My pet peeves: i hate it when my family betray me and force me to take medicine or to bathe. but the worst was when they adopted this other kitty they named Pattoug, and he would go on all my favorite furniture. a*n*d they would give him milk, which i'm not allowed!

What I love about my owners: they spoil me and serve me. their laps are comfy and they didn't mind when i used to smell like tuna.

My cat hobbies: i lie on laps, bite and lick hands.

Pet motto: laps for naps!

How We Met

i was playing with the kids in the pet shop, when a gorgeous girl driving by the window saw me and fell in love. her dad called the shop owner, fixed my price, did a U-turn and saved me! fun fact: i was sold as a female! and i live in Doha, Qatar but the website didn't have that option and i'd rather live in Pittsburgh, so.

I am not Persian!
Ouch, my vet knew nothing! Sister found out that I'm a Turkish Vankedisi, all-white, with amber eyes. Which is almost the best a Turkish Van can be (apparently), except for the eyes. But my sister loves my eyes just the way they are, especially when I go all puss-in-boots-style on her!

Now that she's happy she doesn't have to think of me as Persian when I don't look Persian, she will attempt to place me near the swimming pool. She is also happy that my breed are affectionate and loyal, though I did hang off her finger by a claw yesterday, albeit unintentionally. And mysteries of my personality have now been explained, such as when I got so jealous of Pattoug joining the family.

Sis can't believe I'm gonna be shedding my coat in the summer, or that she needn't have brushed me every day, because I'm a semi-longhair and have a much thinner undercoat. She's impressed that I'm one of the cleaner cats, that I lick myself white - pfft, she'd thought that was her brushing!

Most of all, she's giddy about the coincidence of my being Armenian, from near the region where her ancestors lived! And they bought me thinking I was a female Persian. Which, by the way, is some hot stuff I'd take over scrambled eggs any day now. Like soon.

Come visit me, Pissot.

RIP lovely Pattoug - part II
pee all the time because he couldn't clean himself. he was always wrapped in a blanket and being forcefed, and his chin was wet and smelly all the time, as a consequence. he would cry when being fed. but he still loved us all. my sister would hold him like a human baby when he cried, all bundled in the blanket with only part of his face showing, and tell him soothing stories of how he would grow up to be a nice strong tom and play with me, and be like me, and then no one would remember how he used be so delicate. he would stop crying and listen with very very beautiful blue eyes. he would listen so intently that he would freeze and my sister would check his heartbeat. he loved those stories.

they put him in the carrier bag so i couldn't pounce on him anymore when they weren't around.

between the 13th and 14th of January, Pattoug shit his fur three times. he couldn't walk, let alone run and climb into the litter tray. and the stuff was very strange, almost like diarrhea, except that it seemed to be stuck in him. my family were diligent in cleaning him up and assuring him that he was still a good kitty. after this happened on the night of the 14th my webmaster sister noticed, through the thinned wet fur "down there", that his hind legs looked almost broken. they were so tiny and fragile. she was scared to touch them and the skeleton around his hips looked out of place. it was a weekend night so she took Pattoug on her lap as she passed time on the computer, to warm him some. as usual, he went to her elbow and put his head in there, trying to find a warm space, or to keep out the light, or looking for his mother's nipples, who knows. as was her habit with him, she checked his body. it was moving to indicate breath, but the movement was smaller than she'd known it. Pattoug was almost on his side again and his breath could be heard worse than ever. that was the last time she felt him warm.

early on the 15th, Pattoug was crying. daddy wanted my sisters to feed him, but they were tired after a long week and wanted to sleep in. my webmaster sister woke at noon to the sound of sobs. she knew immediately what had happened.

all that morning i'd sat on his carrier bag wherein he used to sleep, and mommy hadn't been able to get me off. once mommy was a bit over it and trying to comfort us all, she said i must have been trying to kill him by pouncing on him, so he wouldn't have suffered that long. i don't really miss him, i'm better than the humans that way. if i were to miss every cat i made friends with i would never get over not being with my real mum. Pattoug didn't even have a chance to know his. but i know my family were his family too. and i'm proud and happy to know they have such deep feelings for my species, even if they ignored me while Pattoug was around because he needed so much attention. RIP lovely Pattoug.

Come visit me, Pissot.

RIP lovely Pattoug
on the 9th of January one my sisters adopted a kitten. the family named him Pattoug. like with me, he'd been sold as a female. but he'd been with another family, who didn't want him two days after buying him.

this creature was very small and too cute - he was a Persian too, but another sort of hybrid. but he smelled bad because the previous family hadn't given him a litter box and had had him in a hamster cage those two days. so once in my home, Pattoug went running all around the place, but not after he had curled around everyone else's legs twice, in gratitude. he was so cuddly! that's why they named him Pattoug, it means "hug". but he seemed to have breathing problems, you could always hear his breath moving in an out, and in an ugly way.

at first i kept pawing at him not to go on my couches, and because everyone else thought he was so cute. so the family made him sleep alone in the toilet the first night. he cried a lot then he shut up. (his cries still bring tears to my webmaster sister's eyes.) in the morning i was missing him, and i let the family know by curling around their feet. they let him out and he just walked by! he wouldn't pay much attention to me. some of them thought i was trying to mate with him, since back then they thought him to be female. but i loved pouncing on him, and when i'd come off he'd get up and walk away.

Pattoug would go on the couches and want to be in everyone else's laps. he smelled very bad and was very dirty, so the family took him to the vet for a good professional wash.

the vet vaccinated him, then the assistants followed that with a bath. as my sisters were watching through the glass, one of the assistants smiled and lightly tossed him on the table. he wasn't moving. my sister's were shocked some, but then they smiled: he was probably too small to try to put up a fight against the water. my sisters were conversing, when they realized the vet was shouting and pushing a syringe in Pattoug's mouth: he was shivering, and being forcefed glucose. the vet said he'd w*a*r*n*e*d my sisters about showering the kitten in cold weather. the family came home feeling optimistic that it was just a shiver, it would pass.

Pattoug never walked the same again. whether it was the vaccine that was given wrongly so as he became paralyzed, or his lack of energy after the bath, or that he shouldn't be bathed after a vaccine, or the possiblity that he hadn't weaned when he was sold, nobody knows. the vet called every day to check up on his status and the family took Pattoug over to him. more medicine followed, including low-fat milk and gravy and more glucose. the poor thing had so much glucose his eyes became tiny and crossed, and the third eyelid was almost out. they stopped the glucose. his eyes recovered.

one time i pounced on Pattoug and when i got up he was on his side, and couldn't bring himself back up. he would cry.

he would also cry when he was hungry. he smelled like pe

Hi Pissot,
We are glad to hear that you are doing better and very happy to hear you didn't make it to the street today, trust me your mom knows best sweetie.
It's 18 here now (heat wave) and most of the kits have settled down for a long winters nap.
The rest will be with mom downstairs in the family room by the fire.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and meow at us when you get a chance.

Good morning Pissot,
How are you all today? We are great and looks like Mr Sun just might come out and we are hoping it might get up in the 50 degree area today.
As far as the pee in the lap it could possibly have been an accident or a medical reason especially if he is real good about using the litter box. Was he sleeping when it happened? It might be worth a trip to the doctor just to make sure there isn't a bladder infection or something going on especially since he is so young.
He is just adorable, is he the only one you have, if you don't mind me asking? Mom has a houseful mostly feral ones that she has trapped, neutered and released but they usually come back and find a home here. Harry is the most recent one to come inside and they all have adjusted well to being in here. He has real short legs hence the name Munchkin, his belly actually drags the ground sometimes, lol.
Well we are off to do some shopping. Please let us know about Pissot.
Have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday.
