Hi my love
Wow it's been a busy week here. Mom was sick a few days but is better now. She has found a new family doctor (a lady) and I think she'll help make her better.
Have been looking at condos on the beach and small cottages beach side for us. Which would you prefer? Personally I love living on the river as there are so many birds,manatees and dolphins to watch.
Weather here has been grand. Hot but a nice breeze on the porch. Mom took me on a walk in the stroller this morning. It's fun to scare the dogs out there!!!~

How Cats Love – Part 1 (from cats.about.com)

There's no doubt that cats love us as much as we love them. People who haven't been blessed with furry feline love have a difficult time believing this though, because kitties show affection very differently than people do. In fact, some cat behaviors that puzzle, aggravate or even offend people are a cat's way of expressing undying affection.

1. Cats Love with Purrs. Her purrs can mean a variety of things, from delight to expressions of concern. And kitty purrs range from soft and subtle to Mack-truck loud. When your cat purrs in your presence, you can be sure she’s expressing her love for you.

2. Cats Love with Bunting. When a cat cheek-rubs you, head-bumps your face, or pushes against you, he leaves his scented signature. These behaviors, termed bunting, are expressions of affection cats display to other cats, dogs-and their most favorite people.

3. Cats Love with Spraying. Say it ain’t so! But it’s true—if your cat has decided to baptize your bed or other belongings with urine, you should consider it a back-handed compliment. Cats use their own scent to calm themselves down. Kitties feeling upset over separation anxiety or other issues often target areas that smell the most like their beloved owners…such as the bed.

4. Cats Love with Rolling. When kitty throws himself on the ground at your feet, and rolls around, consider this a loving greeting and a solicitation for attention. Presenting the tummy in this fashion places the cat in a vulnerable posture. So cats generally reserve the rolling around for people they truly love.

5. Cats Love with Scratching. Just as with the spraying, cat scratching leaves both scented and visual marks of ownership. Pay attention to where your cat scratches the most. The areas most important to kitty often are related to those places associated with the owner, like a favorite chair where you sit.

6. Cats Love with Gifting. Mighty hunter cats that catch everything from toys to bugs, mice or frogs, often share the bounty with those they love. Kitties who present you with this bounty deserve praise. They wouldn’t bring these special gifts if they didn’t love you.

7. Cats Love with Grooming. Cats spend an enormous amount of time self-grooming. They also groom each other, but shared grooming behaviors only happen between friendly cats. Kitties that groom their human by licking your skin or hair, or even nibbling or sucking on your clothing, indicates great affection. This spreads familiar scent and helps mark you as an important part of her family group.

Before you even attempt to give your Cat a pill
Be sure you can do it or you will end up ill
To give a Cat a pill will be no easy task
Protective clothes are needed plus a clawproof mask
For after the pill gets past that cute little nose
It must pass a canyon of razors where no finger goes
Hold tight to those legs that have very soft paws
Because behind them are daggers that can win any wars
So take this advice before you give that pill to your pet
Take your Cat in the car and leave the pill to the VET.

Wow it's finally quiet here now. The company is gone and I can have mom and the house to myself once again. All that is missing is you!!
I think it's time for house hunting. I'll start looking here and you can start in your town. Maybe we need 2 places.
Lots of rain here. The flowers are in bloom and Spring haws arrived.
Mom is doing pretty good. She goes out to the shelter to visit the homeless cats every week. It's the same place where she rescued me.

I had a wonderful birthday on 17 April. In addition to my new enclosure, I got a new toy, a brightly coloured jingly ball, and chicken to eat. And all the good wishes of my furiends, and the gifts, made it really special.
And then it was followed by COTD, and another day of celebration! Thanks a lot for wishing me and voting for me. And the Foo Foo mall was great fun!

About Whiskers and His Family – An Introduction

I am so happy to be your COTM candidate this month. Happy May Day to all of you and thank you for the many Happy Birthday wishes to my fursisters and me.

Let me begin my first blog by telling you a little bit about myself and my family, and how we came to be.

I’ve been a CC member since Jan. 2012 & I was voted CROTD in August 2012 and COTD in September 2012. In September 2012, I earned my wings as a pilot in the Royal Squadron studying at the Royal Flight Academy under the instruction of K. Pete (72572). I met and fell in love with his beautiful fursister, Talley (88476), who officially became my girlfriend on December 12, 2012, without question, the happiest day of my life.

My pawrents were life long fans of canines before us, and it has taken them several years to finally recognize that cats are individuals, unlike any other pet, with many unique traits adding to our feline mystique.

Entering the world as feral kittens, the angels of good fortune took pity upon us and brought us to our furever home. Even though my Mom knew absolutely nothing about cats, she would never turn away an animal in need. So we had a safe haven, but we still were not really a part of the family. Cats were thought of as adornments – no interaction necessary or needed. How wrong we proved that misconception to be.

It wasn’t until my Mom retired from her job, now spending time at home with us, did she really begin to notice what wonderful, loving companions we could be. But now what, she wondered? They don’t like to go for walks and they don’t fetch or catch Frisbees. So my Mom turned to the Internet to find out what cats are all about. After extensive research, reading and getting to know one another, we’ve finally begun to appreciate and partially understand each other.

Together, we have been reading everything we can about us amazing felines. My pawrents are learning to appreciate this fascinating creature, the Cat. My fursister Callie and I have turned this once “dogs only” household into a haven worthy of cats. We have an outside fursister named Whitey, who still is not convinced about being an indoor cat, but we are adamantly working on changing her mind. I hope you enjoy my daily blogs, sharing what we’ve read and enjoyed together.

I’d like to thank Queen Trixie (#172636) for her wonderful reign as our Queen for April 2013. She was a great leader who will be missed, and we wish her a happy retirement! This morning, let’s give a warm CC welcome to our beautiful new Queen Spunky (#161265)! See you at the Coronation!

good to see you here
this morning as we've got a day filled with so much fun and the cold buffet for lunch is going up in a half hour so we can be sure it'll be a rollicking fun day for one and all. janet was home before the sun came up from her early morning walk, did 2 loads of wash outback on the lines as well as cleaning more romance books for goodwill and salvation army stores after work on monday. she's got cupboards to clean in the kitchen as well as looking for more steak or hamburger in the freezer down cellar for tonight's supper. sandy,ana,haley,angels

♥ Mom woke up early this morning with a very tired and sore body. Her and dad basically took it easy other than mom taking care of us and also gathering the garbage and yard debris then taking the containers to the curb for morning pick up!!!!

♥ Mom and dad will be back to their busy days again starting Monday. Mom says we will be getting lots of cattery time this week since we are suppose to have Summerlike weather all week!!!!

♥ K. FIDEL 14733; TONANTZIN 14732 & CHE 14734 as their sweet momma SARA CAZARES went to her Forever Sleep yesterday (4/20/2013) morning from complications follwing a stroke she had last year. Sara was a very active momma with her husband, 2 sons, 3 fur kits & 1 doggie as well with the schools and politics. She was still a young woman at age 48. She also used to be very active on CC. Many of us old CC timers were close to Sara and her kitties.
We are so sad to learn of her Forever Sleep and she will be deeply missed!!!!
Please keep this family in your prayers.

Thanks for the birthday and COTD wishes!!!! I had a great birthday yesterday, Mom took me outside to sit in the nice sun, and I had special treats and tuna, overall a great day, sun and napping!!! Purrfect for me!!!! I was so happy I am COTD today, I told Mom I wanted more tuna and to go out with her again, but she said she has to work so ok to tuna, but no to outside (its nice today, but if you can believe it, we are supposed to get a foot of snow tonight and tomorrow ...YUCK) Hope you have a great day!!! Thank you for coming to our page to celebrate our COTD and our birthday with us!! Two years ago we were all alone and now we have our own home, a family and lots of friends all over the world to share our lives with.

We sure have had a lot of partying going on over here lately. First my birthday, then the surprise COTD win and finally Easter. Whooo Hoooo it sure has been fun! Thanks for celebrating with me! I loved the gifts - especially the massage from the hot massage tom.... ooooo la la.....

I hope you had a great Easter. Mom and Dad fumbled together in the kitchen (neither one of them are good cooks MOL!). They baked a ham, sweet potatoes and some kind of a vegetable casserole thingy. There's lots of leftovers. Dasher has his eye on the ham.

Love the picture of you in the box. Aren't boxes just the greatest toys ever! I have lots of boxes to explore while I'm helping Mom pack up the townhouse for our move. MOL!

I want to thank all of you for the lovely gifts, sweet hugs & kisses..& most of all the visits you made on my birthday yesterday. It’s always great to see so many of you come by on special days because it makes it a lot more special & also make me purr with sincere happiness. Thank you so much for sharing my birthday with me dear furiends but now I’d better get back to the kitchen so her royal highness can have her daily catnip tarts or she’ll throw a hissing fit…MOL! Hmmm…I think my big sis just got a quick jab in at my demanding catitude along with thank you meows...MOL! Today I’m bringing you a heroic story that is on the freekibble site after you answer the cat trivia. No pic today though since it wouldn’t let me copy it.
~SOLDIER AND CAT SAVE EACH OTHER IN AFGHANISTAN~
Stationed in an Army base in southern Afghanistan, Sgt. Knott noticed one day that a feral cat who roamed around the base was limping and bleeding heavily. He lured the cat into his office with a piece of steak and spent the next seven months caring for the cat he named Koshka. The two bonded quickly. Sgt. Knott nursed Koshka back to health, while Koshka comforted Sgt. Knott during the certain danger and emotional toll of war. When it was time for Sgt. Knott to return to the states, he wouldn’t leave Koshka behind. He explained to KPTV how he worked with a local Afghan interpreter who agreed to, in an extremely risky transport, take Koshka to Kabul. Weeks later Sgt. Knott learned that the cat (and his Afghan chaperone) made it safely across “God knows how many Taliban check points,” to Kabul, where Koshka boarded a plane bound for the states. The $3,000 Sgt. Knott’s family forked over to fly the cat home was worth every penny, they said. While Sgt. Knott is currently stationed in Washington state, Koshka is now safe at home with Sgt. Knott’s parents until the pair can be together again. The Oregon Humane Society recently honored Sgt. Knott and Koshka with a 2013 Diamond Collar Hero award for their incredible story of friendship.

Hi my love
It's still chilly down here but at least it's warmer in the sun. I took my usual 1 hour sunbath in the window this afternoon. Wish you were here to join me. There's plenty of room for you on the per h too.
Mom and I have hard boiled 12 dozen eggs and will dye/decorate them tonite. We'll be ready for the Easter egg roll tomorrow. The silly dogs are having a real dog surf contest tomorrow. Should be fun to watch.

Australian Possum
Ridgey Didge Possum Roll
1 possum
5 tbs balsamic vinegar
5 onions
2 cloves garlic
5 carrots
1 stalk celery
2 turnips
3 tomatoes
2 tbs cold pressed olive oil
1 clump italian parsley
1 tbs fresh rosemary
5 bay leaves
3 cloves
2 tbs Vegemite
1 damper (like a hot dog roll)
Note: there is a species of possum which is protected in Australia. They cannot be trapped, shot or hunted. If you run over an Australian possum, and it is still alive, call WIRES, which protects Australia's native fauna.
If it's dead, then this recipe may serve a purpose.

First, skin the possum, checking first for lice, myxomitosis, and living young in the pouch if babies are there and old enough turn them loose in the woods.Separate legs from breast. Discard head, neck, tail and claws. If you wish, hold the offal for thanksgiving stuffing. Then cut the possum into long sringy pieces.
Marinate overnight in vinegar, rosemary, bay leaf, clove, garlic & oil mixture.
Make the roll: split the damper, and spread vegemite on each side. Put aside.
Chop the carrot, turnip and tomato into small pieces, then cook with the rest of the ingredients, and stew in a pot, adding a chicken stock cube for seasoning. Dip the possum pieces in the pot, then barbecue for 20 minutes (or until cooked to personal taste).
To serve: like a hot dog, use the damper & vegemite roll to surround pieces of possum.
Serve with chips, salad and beer.

Cajun Possum Chili
Tomatoe Sauce (depends on possum)
1 tsp.-1 cup Chili Powder (Depends on Taste and possum)
1 Large possum or 3 small
1 large pot or two large ones if the first isn't enough.
5-10 chili peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 red peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 jalapenio peppers (depends on taste and possum)
How ever much Cayenne Pepper you like, it depends on your taste and possum.
1 tsp. Black Pepper
a pinch of salt
Chili Beans for extra flavor
And whatever other ingredients that are hot and spicy you would like to add.
1. Skin possum(s)
2. Remove internal organs, head, claws, and bones. There is no flavor or use for these. But if you want to add them, go ahead.
3. Put some tomatoe sauce in the pot(s). Then add the possum.
4. Chop peppers
5. Skip step four if you don't want chopped peppers; it doesn't matter.
6. Put the rest in and let set for a long dang while.
7. Before serving make sure you have enough bread, Milk, and Toliet paper for after dinner.
8. Serve. Enjoy
9. Race for bathroom. Whoever is first will make a large stench. Have enough air freshner

remember the coronations this sunday at 3 est and the easter egg hunt before in the royal gardens for the kittens

How to Catch a Possum
Since all the recipes will involve possum, I figured it might be worth it to include a section on how to get your hands on one.
I know of several ways to catch a possum. Perhaps the easiest is to simply drive around for a while in your truck. The problem will soon resolve itself.
(SCCRRRREEEEEEECCHHH!!. . . SPLAT. . .)
Much more fun, however, is to take your dogs and shotgun, and go into the woods and hunt one down. The advantage to this method is that you don't have to scrape the possum off the pavement. The disadvantage is that you do have to worry about shotgun pellets in the meat.
(OUCH! Dadgum it! There went my best tooth!)

Not to mention that a shotgun blast can really mess up the hide, which makes it a lot harder for the taxidermist.
It is also possible to set traps to catch a possum, but this method is notoriously unreliable. Possums like to stay in the trees, and you're much more likely to catch something else.
(Hey, Ed! There's something in the trap! See them bushes moving? Let's see what it is! . . . OH, $#&@! IT'S A SKUNK!!)
Another thing you might want to take into consideration is that possums are scavengers. They eat anything. If a possum is in the road, chances are he's there looking for lunch. Therefore, it's best to catch them alive if at all possible and feed them corn for a few days to clean them out real good before eating them. You just don't know whose garbage they've been into. After all, you wouldn't want to eat something that's been eating Aunt Edna's leftovers, would you? You know, she's the one who brings that stuff that nobody ever touches to the family reunion.
(Hey, man, what IS that stuff? I think it's still alive!)
Possums are also notoriously hard to kill, and they, well, play possum if they feel threatened. (That's why they're called possums!) I remember hearing about someone who had a possum get in his garage one time. He was real mad about something, and having a possum rooting around in his garage making a mess just made it worse, so he took after that thing with a shovel. The possum never had a chance. He did have to chop its head off to make sure it was dead; otherwise they just get up and walk off. It was real strange; right after he beheaded the possum, lightning or something struck the garage, blowing out all the lightbulbs and giving him quite a shock. (If you don't get the joke here, don't worry.)
Of course, if you take this page seriously anyway... you might be a redneck.

That ought to get you started. Now, on to the recipes tomorrow

ready for another funny to start our day my time is almost over and i have enjoyed being ur queen for march but lets vote daily for our spring queen, trixie,

This true story about two hunters from Michigan was originally reported on a news program.

A guy buys a brand new Lincoln Navigator for $42,500 and has $560 monthly payments. He and a friend go duck hunting in winter, and all the lakes are frozen solid.

These two guys go out on the lake with the guns, the dog and, of course, the new vehicle.

They drive out onto the lake ice, unload the guns, decoys, dog, etc. and get ready.

Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the ducks and something for their decoys to float on. In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it is going to take a little more effort than an ice hole drill.

So, out of the back of the new Navigator comes a stick of dynamite with a short, 40-second fuse.

Now these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that they want to place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they are standing (and the new Navigator), because they don't want to take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the burning fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast.

They light the 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite.

Remember a couple of paragraphs back when I mentioned the vehicle, the guns and the dog? Let's talk about the dog: A highly trained Black Lab used for RETRIEVING. Especially things thrown by the owner.

You guessed it, the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice. The two men yell, scream, wave their arms and wonder what to do now.

The dog, cheered on by all the shouting and waving, keeps coming.

One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with # 8 birdshot, great for ducks, but hardly big enough to stop a Black Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused, but continues on.

Another shot and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really confused and, of course, terrified, thinking these two geniuses have gone insane.

The dog takes off to find the nearest cover, which happens to be under the brand new Navigator.

----BOOM!---- Dog and Navigator are blown to bits and sink to the bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two idiots standing there with this "I can't believe this happened" look on their faces.

The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is not covered by their policy.

He still had yet to make the first of those $560 a month payments!

And you thought you had bad days.

Now,...stop your complaining & go have a good day.

Boy it's cold down here in Fla. Managed to keep myself and momma warm last nite under the covers. Today is bright and sunny and about 55. Too cold even for the lizards on the porch.
Had a wonderful visit with Dad yesterday. We picked him up at the ship at 9 and took him back about 6 p.m. He brought presents for mom and me. We got a new cat calandar (Italian version), new toys and some perfume. We then had a good lunch.
Mom and I are going to the grocery today to pick up eggs and egg dye. We need to get organized for the annual Easter egg roll here.
I hope you don't have snow. We always look on the weather map for W.Va to see how you're doing.

Thanks for coming by to see for my birthday. I had fun. I got a "Cosmic Carrot" and a feather wand from mom and also a can of Fancy Feast. mom said I have so many toys she honestly did not want to buy anymore, but she did anyway. I got my pink bed earlier and that was a present, too.

Mom said now that she already got me a pink bed, she sees them everywhere, and before that she had a hard time finding one, so when she seen one, she snagged it immediately...who knew???

Thanks for the certificate to your Mall, i will take some friends and go shopping and spend some time in the spa getting a makeover...wow..thanks! You Riders are the best.

Mom feels a little better today, and at least she was able to keep her oatmeal down today, and now she is looking for lunch {Chicken soup}.

really know how to cheer up a lady! that's what my mom said when you showed up here with the chicken soup and the purr therapy which she sure enjoyed! janet was busy en- ough with cooking green bean casserole, crockpot herbed cajun chicken, baked ziti, then salisbury steak, rosemary scalloped potatoes and green beans for supper tonight. she was shopping half the morning, then bloodwork usual for every 3-4 months, and walking with pepper just after 6 this morning the big block. she is hoping to walk tonight after supper with natty again the big block. sandy, ana, haley, angels
