Happy Memorial Day weekend! Got quite cold & windy today! The apt was down to 65* again so Mom broke out the portable heater again. Screwy weather. We had a couple days of 90* weather! Mom picked up a special knee wrap at CVS today. It fits great. Better than the ice pack she had. It's reusable so she can keep refreezing it. Her therapist wants her icing three times a day because of swelling in the knee. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Mom says senior moments do happen & we need to be supportive of her! Ok. How has your day been.37 here this morning with a huge frost,mr.sun warmed up later but the wind is really cool. Me,mom went out to explore.Made my usual rounds,ate grass,went to check out the tree where the little birdies were,I could see them way in the top of that tree,flying around,chirping,mom bird was with them,I did not stay there long,don't want ole mom bird to fly down and peck me on the head!Then mom said shhhh,listen Spongie,Oreo,I hear the groundhogs in the building playing,they were having a time in that building,mom would talk to them and they would get real quiet,mom said we better go,they might run out of there on us,so off we went,Oreo went way around the building,hehe.Got to my tall grass,and I stopped real still,mom said you must see a mousey in there,yep,thats what it was,I waited a minute,then pounced ,ole mousey got away in the grass,mom said you will find another one soon,ahhhhh,I wanted that one,ole mousey.So I just got mad and lay down and would not get up,mom pulled,I just lay there stiff as a board,hehe, nope I'm not getting up,mom said Spongie get up right now,well ole cane kinda looked at me and I came up and we went right on walking.Did not sit out today to cool,did not even see any butterflies or the worms out,must have been to windy cool mom said.So we came on in,made all my rounds,took a run through the house,knocked the cat toys all over the floor,balls were rolling all around,then I found my marble and I hit it,mom said Spongie whats going on in there,soudns like the house fell,ahhh nothing mom,ole marble just rolled through the floor,then I checked to see where Gang were all at,Wicket was napping in my box but I did not bother him.Mom went to rest and I came through the house making that mewoing sound carrying mr.innertube in to mom,mom said I know when you are carrying him,you make that loud meowing sound,hopped on the bed,dropped him on the bed,gave mom a headbutt,kitty kiss and napped a little while,Now I'm laying in the window,Baby eating treats,I better go check and make sure that was not my treat plate,Cindell,Missy napping,mom had to cook Wicket a hot dog,mom throws them up in the air for him to catch,there are hot dogs all over the floor,hehe.Well we are all loaded up in the spongiemobile and ready for the full moon pawty,good idea you have,I have ole cane tied to the top,mr,innertube in the paw glove box,we will can use ole cane to limbo,hehe that will teach him not to look mean at me and we can use innertube to paw wrestle with,hehe!Pssss,shhhhh,mom has a small wire cage,I wil set it in front of the groundhog hole and try to catch one to send to you,now don't tell anyone!pawhugs,Spongie,Gang,Angels.

I’m happy to report, my Mom’s worrying over Whitey not eating yesterday was all for naught. Whitey and Orangie both showed up this morning with voracious appetites. Mom was all smiles again! Afterwards, the two kitties wandered around the garage, sniffing the cat carrier and rubbing their faces on it. (Callie and I had been playing in the cat carrier just yesterday and I made sure to leave my scent.) The cats don’t seem to mind the top of the cat carrier getting closer, so everything is going as planned. We hope!

BEDTIME:
Always sleep on the human at night so he/she cannot move around. Even better- lie on his or hers face, making sure your arse is right on their nose. When she is wearing an expensive silk nightie, don't forget to paw it. This will create lovely patterns!

LITTER BOX:
When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes. The smell is also very attractive.

The temperature was high 61 & low was 46 this morning, now it's 60 with humidity 55% & wind is 9 MPH W. Saturday's suppose to be Rain & Sun & High 65.

♥ We had a break in the weather with no rain for today so about noon mom and dad loaded the truck with several automotive batteries to Interstate Batteries for recycle and some electronics to a different recycle place. Mom also started going through her jewelry armoir to thin out her jewelry collection since she hardly wears most of it and will put it in the yaed sale stuff!!!!

♥ Mom did open dad's bedroom window this afternoon, so we could go out in the cattery for a little while.

A sweet treat ...
Today we visit the Dole Plantation. Originally operated as a fruit stand beginning in 1950, Dole Plantation opened to the public as Hawaii’s "Pineapple Experience" in 1989. Today, Dole Plantation is one of Oahu’s most popular visitor attractions and welcomes more than one million visitors a year.

Are you ready? We are going to take a whistle stop tour through Hawaii’s Pineapple story on the Pineapple Express! On this fully narrated, twenty-minute train tour we’ll learn the story of pineapple in Hawaii. All aboard! After a brief scramble to get a seat next to their best buddies, all kitties are seated and it’s time to go. Our custom-constructed, vintage-style engine whisks us across more than a century of the island’s agricultural history, from the days when pineapple ruled the plantation to today’s rich diversity of farming enterprises, from mangoes to coffee to cacao beans. The ride is two miles long, twenty minutes in length. Along the way, we learn about the history of the world’s most beloved tropical fruit. Our journey takes us through a working plantation of pineapple and other crops, often featuring fields in all stages of growth, from planting to harvest. We also experience some of the scenic panoramas of Oahu’s renowned North Shore from a perspective few Hawai‘i visitors ever get to experience. When we depart the train, we can still smell the sweetness of pineapples ready to be picked.

And now for THE MAZE! In 2008, Dole Plantation’s giant Pineapple Garden Maze was declared the world’s largest maze. The maze stretches over three acres and includes nearly two and one-half miles of paths crafted from 14,000 colorful Hawaiian plants. We walk through the flora of the islands as we seek out eight secret stations that each lead us closer to the mystery at the heart of this larger-than-life labyrinth, one of only a handful of permanent botanical mazes in America. The fastest finishers win a prize and enter into the history of Dole Plantation, with their names recorded on a sign at the maze’s entrance. Several of our guests have raced ahead to find spots where they can “surprise” their furriends and hopefully scare them. After yesterday’s jump from a plane, frightening anyone is not going to prove easy, is it? Once we have confirmed everyone finally is out of the maze and accounted for, we head over for a treat.

No stop to Dole Plantation would be complete without enjoying a world-famous Dole Whip! This refreshing pineapple treat is guaranteed to quench our thirst and cool us down after a sun-filled day. This is the same wonderful treat we enjoyed when we visited Disneyland’s delightful Tiki Room.

Our visit to the Hawaiian Islands is growing to a close. A magnificent meal has been prepared by the chef to commemorate our time in this magical place. My Darling Husband
Talk about gardening, dad had a friend (Darlene, the lady that handled the repairs on the house) come over and help mom weed out the gardens and trim the roses and shrubs, etc. Whew, is she ever tired.
I think that is a super idea to take some of the rainbow roses to the full moon pawty. Thanks for getting the wheelbarrel and hauling away all the trimmings. The roses do look so very lovely. I dug up a couple of those dern liver cakes that were thrown around here. Even the squirrels and chippies or birdies didn't want to eat them. tee hee.
I hope I am refreshed enough tonight to help win our hockey game and you, too, sweetheart. speeking of hockey, I just noticed that it's beginning right now and Mallow is editing tonight, so we had better leave and high-tail it over there.

How are you today.A sunny cool windy day here for us.Got to go out to explore for a littlw while.Went to all mousey bushes,nothing there,mouseys must have ran away looks like.Ate some grass as we walked,tried to wack another bumble bee,mom pulled me away from it ole,bee.Explored in the tall grass,I like to go in there and dig to see if there are bugs there,I will jump up in the air,then pounce in the grass and dig away,hehe,mom laughs at me!Did not see the groundhogs,they have all gotten big enogh so that the mom is letting them go way out in the field to eat grass,then thy come back later in the day to thier hole.Saw some butterflies,then went to my tree to scratch my claws and look for the baby birds,did not see them, mom said the wind might have scared them and they flew off,I wanted to tell them all hi,mom said maybe tomorrow they might be back.Saw some more of those ugly worms crawling around,then we went to sit down for a few minutes for mom to rest,I sat in the sun and watched some Robin birds,then some ducks flew over,they sure can quack loud,I yelled hi ole duckies!Oreo,Spotty were chasing each other,I sure would have liked to join in,but ole lead won't let me.Then a big puff of wind blew and mom said time to go in,well I went right in,I don't like that wind blowing my fur all up.Made my rounds through the house,moved the condo across the floor,I love doing that,mom said Spongie what are you doing in there,ahhh nothing mom just moving some furniture,hehe.Then me,mr.inertube went to rest with mom,I hopped up and gave mom a head butt,ate treats,then napped.Well now I just got scolded for wacking Wicket,he was laying on my toy rug right in my suuny spot,now I don't want that ole spot so I'm making lots of racket on my paper bag,Wicket got the spot back,Baby,Cindell,Missy all napping,I will just make racket and give mom,Wicket mean looks,hehe.Hope everyone has a safe,happy Memorial Day weekend.What a great idea,I wil bedazzle my name on everything in the house,toys,furniture,even the litter boxes,hehe! Evie sounds a lot like my fursister Callie. A real "cling-on!" It must be a girl thing.

This morning both Whitey & Orangie were waiting for Mom to open the garage door, but much to Mom’s dismay, Whitey only took a few bites of her Temptations and didn’t touch her canned food at all. Whitey just wanted to be petted and sat with Mom for about an hour. Of course my Mom is worried, but Dad thinks maybe she ate somewhere else. Orangie was happy to eat for the both of them. MOL! We shall see what happens tomorrow.

HAMPERING:
Following are some more rules for "hampering:"

For paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to obscure as much of the work as possible or at least. Pretend to doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen. Bite when you're ready to move on.

When a human is holding the newspaper in front of him/her, be sure to jump on the back of the paper. Humans love to jump.

MOST IMPORTANT When a human is working at computer, jump up on desk, walk across keyboard and write a short story. Bat at mouse pointer on screen as if it were real. Then lay in human's lap across arms, hampering typing in progress.

That's super that Mallows KA team is doing so well in hockey. I'm happy for her and her team. I'm still thinking that OC will end up taking it all though, I hope.

Mom saw the mama kitty here nursing the babies, so she is a mom and it's even possible her grown kit is a mom. I think we'll be seeing a few more before it's over with. Mom put a couple of towels in the crate and hopefully the babies will get in it instead of under the hot tub where it is wet and damp.

Oh, I do agree with you, Mikey, about our moms not getting out to do all the things that we do and they do deserve to get out whenever they can, which isn't all that often, other than, grocery markets and other errands, etc. And they did enjoy themselves so much talking with each other about US. They certainly do need to get a break and get out to enjoy what they can.

You know now that you mention it, the Casey burger sounds pretty good. I'll heat up yours and then see what else I can find that sounds good to me. Dolly finds a to-go box with mac and cheese and heats it up. It's one of her favorites. She tells Mikey that she is happy here at Rainbow Rose Manor and purrhaps tomorrow I can get outside and trim and feed the roses that QA Gracie gave us.
Mikey leans over and gives her a kiss and tells her that he doesn't want her getting her dainty little paws full of thorns and that's why they have a gardener, but she shouldn't have a problem trimming her other plants and shrubs that are thorn-free. She giggles and tells him that she would wear garden gloves and long sleeves and that she loves to work in the garden so he gives in and offers to help her which she accepts.

Dolly asks him if he wants to pick out a video for them while she clears up the table. Oh, I'd like to see that movie with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, sweetheart. Would you like to watch it? Finally, they are snuggled up on the sofa with popcorn watching the movie. Swoon and kissing......

They had to make arrangements to have me brought up to MI from Cincinnati and then drive all the way to Detroit to pick me up. How are you today.A nice day for us,no storms yet today,hope there are no loud thunder.Got to go out to explore,did not see a grasshopper today,the one I caught must have went and warned all his buddies not to come by Spongies house,hehe!I did chase a butterfly round,round,I could not get it,Oreo jumped up in the air after it and turned a flip right in the air and landed right back on his feet,butterfly got away,mom said she was going to start carrying her camera around here neck!I went to my usual places,mousey bushes,ate grass,explored in the tall grass,nothing in there,did not even see the groundhogs out today,then we went back to the tree that had all the little birdies in it,birds were there flying all around in the tree,I just sat there and watched them,I whisperd so mom could not hear me and said hi little birdies want to fly down and see Spongie,hehe,but they stayed high in the tree,so I just scratched my claws on the tree,shook my paw at them and on I went,ole birdies.Then mom sit down for a few minutes,so I lay in mr.sun besdie her and watched more butterflies fly by,then I just fell over and lay there to rest.Then mom said ok time to go in,I had leaves,twigs stuck all in my fur,mom had to brush me off before we came in, I hissed a little but I came on in.All ok in the house,made all my rounds,ate,went to sit in the windows,then carried mr.inntertube in to see mom when she rested,I hopped up and lay down beside her to rest and ate my treats on the bed,Wicket was on the other side eating his.Early this morning when mom was sleeping I was up wandering around and wacked Baby and she let out a screech,well that woke mom up,she yelled and said Spongie I know that was you,you are not here beside me,she said if I have to get up you are going to get a wack on that furry little behind for getting on Baby,and scaring me like that,Baby came running and hopped on moms tummy,mom gave her a hug,I stuck my head around the door peeking at mom,then I just went and moved the condo way across the floor and went tearing through the house,mom just covered up her head,then I sneaked back and hopped up beside mom and looked at her so sad,she hugged me and I gave her a big kitty kiss on the nose,hehe.So now I'm laying on the toy rug in my sunny spot watching ole grass monster go round,round the house eating all my grass up,I outta open that door and wack it a good one ,but think I will just watch it,hehe.Baby sitting beside mom,Wicket,Missy napping,Cindell looking out the window.Hehe, that was funny about Mallow,Bennie getting into his moms closet and bedazzled all her clothes,mom is stil laughing at that one! My Mom and I just saw the great pictures of all the Moms at their luncheon. Your Mom doesn't look anything like you buddy! She is beautiful! They all are and it looks like they had a fantastic time. My Mom can hardly wait for the next one!

Mom decided it was time to move the top of the cat carrier back onto the bottom half. She slid it on about ¼ of the way. Whitey & Orangie kept looking at it warily, but both kitties finished eating their breakfast without too much of a problem. Whitey sat with Mom for over an hour, just watching the sun start to rise. Orangie went back to the Igloo to sleep awhile longer. Mom felt progress was made today.

I left a vote with purrs and hugs.

My Darling Mikey
Whew!!!!! Another busy day; surfing in San Diego, sky diving with Q. Cherish, mouse hockey, revolting against our moms, etc.
I'm beat. How about you? I'm glad we are staying over at Rainbow Rose Manor, sweetheart. I'll run the tub if you want to bring up a bottle of wine from the wine cellar. I'll scrub your back and give you a massage. Dolly and Mikey are finishing some of the food that they brought home from hockey and then clear the table and put the rest of the to-go boxes in the fridge. Ummmmm, such delicious food that Maggie & Callie prepared.

Thank your mom for putting the pictures on FB. Mom will try and download some tomorrow from her phone.

Mike brings the wine and goblets upstairs to the master bath and Dolly has the water just right, so they both step in and sit down. Ahhhhh, this feels soooo good. Both of them have sore muscles from all the activity lately. Mikey pours the wine and while they sip on that they discuss how rude it was of their moms to go off and leave them home while they met other CC moms. Did they even bring us anything home from their lunch? NO. They brought See's candies home but they Know that we Can't eat it. They didn't even save us a taste of their blue cheese burger? I doubt if they even talked about us at all. It was all about THEM. Mike agrees and adds, "Yep, if it weren't for us, they wouldn't have even met".
After they get all this out of their system they have a change of heart and realize that their moms take such good care of them and that they love them so much. We should be glad that they had a chance to meetup, Dolly says. And we really don't know if they didn't talk about us. I bet they did. Their life revolves around us and our wellbeing. They look at each other and they both cry out at the same time, "MOM, Oh MOM, we LOVE YOU. We didn't mean to say all of this. We're very happy that you had a good time and we want you to do it again." They feel relieved once they got this all out which enabled them to truly see the truth of how very wonderful their moms really how. They finish their wine and bath and hug and kiss then go sit by the fire in their bedroom holding paws and happy as can be.....Love you, my darling.....Dolly xoxoxox

♥ On Monday morning, 5/20, momfolded 3 loads of laundry, then she mowed the back yard while dad loaded his truck with scrap wood to haul away. When mom was done she then helped dad with the second load of wood then they were going thru piles of metal, wire, nuts, bolts, etc to put in separate piles for the scrap yard and the garbage dump. That was a long hard and hot day!!!!

♥ On Tuesday, mom got a phone call from Pet Food Stamps letting mom know they received the proper paper work and will contact mom once they verify it all to let her know if we qualify. Mom's xcited about it!!!!

♥ This morning, after mom gave me my anxiety pill then fed me my Fancy Feast can food with MiraLax mixed in it, I ate it all up like I normally do then I went potty. Mom scooped out the litter boxes then when she came into dad's room to give Sassee 10605 her Dasuquin pills and seen someone got barfy on the floor and knew it was me cuz it was Fancy Feast and dry food. Mom checked me out and said to just rest which I do anytime I don't feel well. I did come out once this afternoon to get a few bites of the dry food then went back to dad's bed to sleep more.

Today we will try something VERY different. Picture yourself seated next to a window in an airplane flying 14,000 feet over Oahu’s North Shore. The view is magnificent, but right now you’re a little distracted. The thought of jumping out of a plane is enough to sidetrack anyone — but that’s just what you’re about to do. You’re not going to jump solo, of course. You signed up for a tandem dive, and your instructor will be right there with you. You’ve been properly trained before boarding the plane, and your instructor has jumped hundreds of times, but the riskiness of it is still enough to leave your heart pumping.

Lady Dolly and King Mike are skilled at this sport and will jump in tandem, not with an instructor. Watch how it’s done. There is a picture of their jump on my page. Check out those two crazy kits.

You and your instructor, who is attached to you like a Siamese twin, shuffle to the edge of the hatch. It’s now or never, so out you go. Words cannot describe the sensation of jumping out of an airplane at 8,000 to 14,000 feet. How do you explain fear for a mere moment, soon to be replaced by exhilaration that cannot be compared to anything you’ve ever done?

The “drop” is over. Now you’re floating, enjoying the view. If you’re game, the instructor will perform some twirls and stalls, and even let you “fly” the parachute by yourself. Suddenly, you notice the ground is coming up sooner than you’d planned. The instructor pulls up at precisely the right moment and settles you gently on the ground for a perfect landing.

You can expect the adrenalin rush to last for a while. After all, you just jumped out of an airplane.

Time to watch someone else risking their neck. We attend a polo match on the beach at Mokule‘ia and see a historic game that has been played in Hawai‘i for more than a century. Considered one of the fastest, roughest and most dangerous sports played today, polo was brought to Hawai‘i in the 1880s. The polo field at Mokule‘ia is the only one in the world that is located on a beach. Here we have a tailgate picnic, play ball and fly kites on the field during halftime while watching a skydive performance. Live music takes the stage when the match has ended.

How are you today.Was a nice morning but is storming,raining again,that ole thunder sure is loud.Mom took me out when the sun was out,as soon as we went out the door a grasshopper came flying right by my head and I jumped up and caught it,I did not even expolre any today,I was to busy playing with mr.grasshopper,I was having fun,he would crawl off and I would pounce on him,then I would lay my paw on it,raise it up and it would try to fly off and I would pounce on him again.Mom just sat down while I played with ole grasshopper,she said Spongie are you not going to explore any,nope not now mom,I'm to busy playing with mr.grasshopper,well I was looking at mom and ole grasshoper got away from me,I said mom you made me lose him,I looked for him and mom did to but he was gone,ole grasshopper.I ate grass and we came back in,it was getting stormy looking out there,I ate,then went and got on my toy rug cause that ole loud thunder scares me,then wehen mom wnt to rest I raced and got right beside her with my head under her arm,she said Spongie that ole thunder won't hurt you,its just loud,then Wicket came racing in and got on the other side of mom,Baby,Missy,Cindell just kept on napping.Now its getting darker again and more ole loud thunder,I'm still on moms bed with my head uner the pillow.,Wicket sitting beside mom,Baby,Cindell,Missy still napping,does anyone have any thunder proof earplugs I can borrow,hehe.Wow you and Koshka sure did bring home lots of things,hehe,mom is still laughing at what all you brougt home, guess your moms did not ask any questions on where all that came from,hehe,knowing us kittys you never know what we might bring home,hehe!!!you be sure to keep an eye on that mail box!pawhugs,Spongie,Gang,Angels.

wow we had some more nasty storms at home last night and it got one of our outlets that has a breaker and all the outlets on one side of the kitchen dont work and momma had to pull the fridge out and run a heavy drop cord to it.

momma also said she saw on the news this morning that a lady in oklahoma foune her two precious kitties after searching the debris for hours. one has a broken leg and the other is just fine. sure did put a big smile on momma's face
momma ordered and inspiron 15.6" with touch screen from dell. sure hope she likes it and it gets here soon so we can get to our hockey games again before playoffs are over.

I heard the CC ladies had a really nice time yesterday. My Mom wishes she could have been there to hear all the great kitty stories! I bet your ears were ringing. MOL! My Mom is definitely going to the next gathering. I better make her sign a disclosure!

Yesterday the weather turned out to be nice, not too warm, so our Mom took us out for a ride in our cat stroller. It has been a while, but Mom needs the exercise. Callie and I enjoyed it because no one else was out walking (with their dogs!). We saw Orangie sitting on a fence that surrounds the peacock’s house. We didn’t want to scare him so we just walked by shaking our heads, hoping he wouldn’t fall into the peacock’s yard! No sight of Whitey, but I’m sure she has a nice, very hidden spot.

They were both here to eat this morning, so all is well.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the recent tornado outbreaks. The news has been heartbreaking!

I left a vote with purrs and hugs.

BATHROOMS:
Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare but occasionally rub their legs.

DOORS:
Do not allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand looking sad at the humans. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an "outside" door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season.

it's finally stopped raining as it's been doing so since midnight when boomers moved in and stayed till around 3;30 and then heavy rain till around 15 minutes ago. janet wasn't gonna walk, but now has decided that she's done with cc and just has other stuff to do, that can wait till this afternoon after she's home from work and running to sunderland to get more tomato plants for her outer garden not to many, but just enough to put along a fence outside of the fenced in part. sandy,ana,haley,angels

I bet you, Evie, & Mallow are all happy that your mom is back home. I was glad to see my mom, well, that is after your mom left cuz I wouldn't come out while she was here. I don't mean to appear impolite, especially since she is my mother-in-law, but I am quite shy and afraid of strangers.

Time for another day of shopping. We are going to Seaport Village. It’s so nice to look at the shops and the ocean. They have a merry-go-round there. I love merry-go-round. We can eat at the Jolly Rancher. Mom says they have good food.

Got very hot out today! 90*! Mom hasn't opened the windows yet as the building is holding the coolness in. She didn't want to let in the heat. She was brought to us along with her littermate brothers Sam & Sly also littermate sister Aunt Samantha 15442 by their fur mama and fur dad [a Calico as well as a Tabby tom]. We were surprised about the tom helping with baby kittens. Not many toms would help out with kittens!

♥ The two pictures of Baby and me in her gallery is when she was under sedation before her Forever Sleep. That's also the first time I had gotten to hold her during her 12 years of life. Petting was not an issue as she loved that!

How are you today.Was nice this morning,but then we had another storm with hard rains.Mom had to go shopping for kitty food,and my treats,then by the time she got home it started raining and storming,so I have not got to go out at all today,ole storms.The thunder was so loud it sure scared us all,I hid way in the back of the cat tree until it was over,then I ran and got on he bed with mom,while she rested,going to the store sure did wear her out and started all the ole pain back for her,ole pain she said.Wicket hid in the kitty cube during the storm,Baby,Missy,Cindell just kept on napping.So nothing much going on here right now,I have made a few rounds through the house,looked out all the windows,ate treats,napped,carried mr,innertube,now I'm laying on the toy rug looking out the door,its getting dark out again,hope we don't have more of those storms,Wicket is laying on the other side of the toy Rug,Baby sitting on the cat tree,Missy,Cindell naping.Mom said if it did not storm later we might get to go out for a few minutes,I hope so I need to explore and eat my grass,so guess for now I'm stuck inside.Wow,you and Koshka came back home with a replica of the Brooklyn bridge,how did you all explain that,hehe!Did the worms get there yet?pawhugs,Spongie,Gang,Angels.

Pearl Harbor, Honolulu … This memorial is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives on a fateful day which launched the US into World War II when the Japanese military attacked on December 7, 1941.

Wikipedia tells us Pearl Harbor is a lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. Much of the harbor and surrounding lands is a United States Navy deep-water naval base. It is also the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941 brought the United States into World War II. On December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan. In return, December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.

The USS Arizona Memorial is the most recognized icon of World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, a unit of the National Park Service. Access is gained through the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Upon entering the visitor center, we head to the NPS Tickets & Information desk where we obtain free tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial program. While waiting for the tour to begin, we rent an audio tour headset, and explore the bookstore and exhibit galleries.

We watch a 75-minute program in one of two theaters. It includes a brief introduction to set the tone for the visit and a 23-minute documentary film which includes actual footage of the attack. After the film, we climb aboard a Navy-operated shuttle boat to the USS Arizona Memorial. Note: There are no public restroom facilities on the Memorial so we make quick stops before boarding our shuttle.

The Memorial spans the USS Arizona, a sunken WWII battleship which is the final resting place for most of her 1,177 Sailors and Marines killed in the December 7th attack. In the shrine room, we find a marble wall with the names of all of these men. In addition, we see a smaller marble wall, which lists the names of USS Arizona Survivors who, since passing away, have returned to their shipmates by having their ashes interred inside the fourth gun turret by Navy and NPS divers.

It is important to realize this is not a tourist attraction, but a memorial and grave that deserves to be treated with respect and reverence. This is a place of learning, reflection, and quiet contemplation.

Following our Pearl Harbor visit, we dine at a Five Diamond Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurant, enjoying wonderful fish and local produce. The pineapple here is so very sweet. Tomorrow, we must head for the Dole Plantation.
