How We Met
maia - when i passed by the window of the local animal humane society,she rubbed up against the window...after walking around again, when i passed her window, she again rubbed up against the window. she talked to me through the window. when i sat with her she immediately started laying on my shoulder and purred. a perfect match! she will still only lay on mom's shoulder.
lia - i was in a local pet smart store wanting to be adopted. as soon as mom walked through the door..i just knew she was my mom! i rubbed her fingers to let her know i was ready to go home with her.

Oahu - day 3
Today we will try something VERY different. Picture yourself seated next to a window in an airplane flying 14,000 feet over Oahu’s North Shore. The view is magnificent, but right now you’re a little distracted. The thought of jumping out of a plane is enough to sidetrack anyone — but that’s just what you’re about to do. You’re not going to jump solo, of course. You signed up for a tandem dive, and your instructor will be right there with you. You’ve been properly trained before boarding the plane, and your instructor has jumped hundreds of times, but the riskiness of it is still enough to leave your heart pumping.
Lady Dolly and King Mike are skilled at this sport and will jump in tandem, not with an instructor. Watch how it’s done. There is a picture of their jump on my page. Check out those two crazy kits.
You and your instructor, who is attached to you like a Siamese twin, shuffle to the edge of the hatch. It’s now or never, so out you go. Words cannot describe the sensation of jumping out of an airplane at 8,000 to 14,000 feet. How do you explain fear for a mere moment, soon to be replaced by exhilaration that cannot be compared to anything you’ve ever done?
The “drop” is over. Now you’re floating, enjoying the view. If you’re game, the instructor will perform some twirls and stalls, and even let you “fly” the parachute by yourself. Suddenly, you notice the ground is coming up sooner than you’d planned. The instructor pulls up at precisely the right moment and settles you gently on the ground for a perfect landing.
You can expect the adrenalin rush to last for a while. After all, you just jumped out of an airplane.
Time to watch someone else risking their neck. We attend a polo match on the beach at Mokule‘ia and see a historic game that has been played in Hawai‘i for more than a century. Considered one of the fastest, roughest and most dangerous sports played today, polo was brought to Hawai‘i in the 1880s. The polo field at Mokule‘ia is the only one in the world that is located on a beach. Here we have a tailgate picnic, play ball and fly kites on the field during halftime while watching a skydive performance. Live music takes the stage when the match has ended.Come visit me, Q. Dear Maia and Lia,
Hi there dear girls! Mom is still in pain, walking with a cane and hobbling around. MOL. I have never seen her like that! She usually flies around and is always busy, busy,busy. I look at her, tilt my head trying to figure it out and then get out of her way, that is unless I want to eat. I meow my head off, stand on her feet and push my body against her legs really hard until she pays attention and gives me food. MOL.I am a piece of work and the queen of the house. Mom says Ginger is the princess.Mom has been concerned about her increased respiratory rate and was upset all day.

Don't worry, these horses are very safe. And they are tiny! Smaller than a great dane doggie. DO you know Tom and CC? They have a mini horse brother called Pippin and these horses are like him. They will let us walk in their pasture and even ride clinging to their manes. But do not scratch them! Thank you for the birthday greetings. I had a good birthday on 15 May. There were no big celebrations as we were all tired out by our trip to Delhi, which was to finally move everything here. Mom gave me fish jelly, plenty of lap time, and let me open up the transported cartons, which I loved doing! And the messages and gifts from my furiends made me feel so special.

well, it's been a couple of interesting days ! first monday night we had horrific thunder storms, lost our power for a while and our computer was struck and is now toast! we have a laptop now which is secondhand and mom is trying to get used to using a laptop plus using a dell which she has never used before so it's been rather interesting to say the least. she's typing along as she would with our other computer and things are moving and disappearing and she has no idea why? sad i know, but true!!! MOL. we promise to respond to everybody as soon as we can.

Hi Lia,
Mom is pretty much back in the groove. She got her dentist and doctor appointments behind her. She is back to Zumba dancing - a bit stiff and out of shape though...teehee Mom hasn't had a chance to sit out on the lanai or enjoy some sunbathing yet. The weather has been beautiful though, and the pool is very comfortable the few times she jump in it.
I'm sure your Mom is happy seeing the veggies popping up all over. All of her hard work is paying off. I think your Dad had the right idea - putting little cages around some of the veggies so the kitties..ooops...I mean rabbits won't dig them up or nibble on them.
That is so funny...the furless kitten bangs her hand on your heads until you almost have headaches. You are all so smart to run for the tallest cat tree...teehee She is getting really cute though with her little hat on and ball in your hands.
The city of Moore must be in tornado alley. When Mom was in Texas, she went to Oklahoma in 2000 and passed through Moore and could still see the destruction from the tornado that sweep through there in 1999. Now again in 2013. Mom can't even imagine what winds of 200mph must be like. Our prayers and thoughts are with all the people and their furbabies.

You ladies were exquisite as our COTD. Pawtying takes energy, but it was such fun. Good to get to see you both enjoy your spotlight time. OH IT"S BEEN WARM MOL. We've had the a/c on for a few days. Mom did go to her doc this morning early & it was still hot. We are doing window duty now. It would be fun if we had a garden too. Maybe someday. Just outside our window we've seen skunk, raccoon, possum, chipmunks, all kinds of birds, deer & bear. Not a good idea for us to travel out there. Leaving you a lil votey. Oahu - day 2
Pearl Harbor, Honolulu … This memorial is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives on a fateful day which launched the US into World War II when the Japanese military attacked on December 7, 1941.
Wikipedia tells us Pearl Harbor is a lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. Much of the harbor and surrounding lands is a United States Navy deep-water naval base. It is also the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941 brought the United States into World War II. On December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan. In return, December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.
The USS Arizona Memorial is the most recognized icon of World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, a unit of the National Park Service. Access is gained through the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Upon entering the visitor center, we head to the NPS Tickets & Information desk where we obtain free tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial program. While waiting for the tour to begin, we rent an audio tour headset, and explore the bookstore and exhibit galleries.
We watch a 75-minute program in one of two theaters. It includes a brief introduction to set the tone for the visit and a 23-minute documentary film which includes actual footage of the attack. After the film, we climb aboard a Navy-operated shuttle boat to the USS Arizona Memorial. Note: There are no public restroom facilities on the Memorial so we make quick stops before boarding our shuttle.
The Memorial spans the USS Arizona, a sunken WWII battleship which is the final resting place for most of her 1,177 Sailors and Marines killed in the December 7th attack. In the shrine room, we find a marble wall with the names of all of these men. In addition, we see a smaller marble wall, which lists the names of USS Arizona Survivors who, since passing away, have returned to their shipmates by having their ashes interred inside the fourth gun turret by Navy and NPS divers.
It is important to realize this is not a tourist attraction, but a memorial and grave that deserves to be treated with respect and reverence. This is a place of learning, reflection, and quiet contemplation.
Following our Pearl Harbor visit, we dine at a Five Diamond Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurant, enjoying wonderful fish and local produce. The pineapple here is so very sweet. Tomorrow, we must head for the Dole Plantation.

Lovely Hawaiian ladies place leis on our necks as we disembark in Honolulu. These are a special gift of aloha - welcome, and love. The ladies receive those made of white ginger or jasmine … our choice. I love jasmine; my choice is simple. Oh, the beautiful fragrance. No wonder everyone wants one of these when in Hawaii. For the men, there are leis of kukui nuts. With our shirts and dresses from Hilo Hatties, we are ready to explore the final island of our Hawaiian adventure.
Here, Hawaii’s timeless beauty blends with the modern luxuries of today. We can swim in the warm waters of world-famous Waikiki one moment, then enjoy the dramatic mountain views of the Nuuanu Pali Lookout another; watch the surfers on the legendary North Shore by day, then dance the night away in vibrant nightlife spots around Honolulu; get a taste of local flavors in Kapahulu one night, then dine at a Five Diamond Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurant the next.
Our first visit is to 350 acre Diamond Head crater, one of the best-known volcanic craters in the world, whose vantage point offers some incredible panoramas of Honolulu. We choose to start early to avoid the heat of the sun. Diamond Head State Monument encompasses over 475 acres, including the interior and outer slopes of the crater. This broad, saucer-shaped crater was formed about 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption that sent ash and fine particles in the air. As these materials settled, they cemented together into a rock called tuff. The panoramic views of Waikiki and Oahu's south shore from the top are impressive. We will have many gorgeous photos for our memory books. We learn the crater was named Diamond Head by 19th century British sailors who thought they discovered diamonds on the crater's slopes. These "diamonds" were actually shiny calcite crystals that had no value. The volcanic crater, a major Oahu landmark, has been extinct for 150,000 years.
Next we travel to Iolani Palace, the only royal palace in the US. It was the official residence of King Kalakaua and Queen Liliuokalani, the last king and queen to rule Hawaii; the monarchy was abolished in 1893. We take the guided tour, which leaves us thinking our own Castle on CC is just as impressive and much more inviting to fun-loving kitties.

Good Evening Lia & Maia
The Woes of Princess O: I am so stressed out...My whole life routine has been disrupted & it's all my Mommy's fault as usual.....I ask you, why must the woman cause me undo stress & upset the delicate balance of my life??...She is so selfish & only thinks about herself...First she had the nerve to stop eating all my favorite things like, cheese puffs, carrot cake, pumpkin muffins, ketchup, I could go on...Now I am alone waiting, waiting, waiting for her to come home in the morning and she is never on time anymore...Listen, my life is tough enough being without her when she works at night, now this...Let me set the stage before the disruption in my life began...It's 7am & I rush to my window sill to wait for Mommy to drive up...Between 7:05 and 7:10am Mommy drives up, parks the cars, gets out & waves at me...I then run to the end table right next to the door & a minute later she comes in and I get kisses, hugs & Greenies...You might think I am waiting at the door because I want my treats but really I love Mommy's kisses on my little head & I give Mommy lots of head butts, purrs & then I get my Greenies...Don't mock me...I really do love my kisses & oh okay, I love my Greenies too...Anyway, here is the new scenario, it's 7am, I run to my window sill, I see Mommy drive up, she gets out of the car & waves to me, I run to the door and no Mommy...Would you believe she never comes thru the door now until 45 minutes to 1 hour later...Well, today I had enough...When Mommy came thru the door I gave her what for...I meowed my displeasure & wouldn't let her kiss me...I was so upset with her...I do not like this new routine...Why, oh why must my Mommy treat me like this...Mommy said she is trying to stay healthy by walking in the morning..She also said she would take me with her to the Boardwalk where she walks if she could get my stroller down the three flights of stairs in our apartment building...Sure she would, the woman always has an excuse...So now when Mommy is due home I have to wait & wait, and wait some more...I am not happy...MOL...Anyway, I guess I have no choice but to adjust to this new schedule...How did I lose control & when did my life start being about Mommy???...It sure is a good thing I am such an adaptable, easy going, sweet natured, loving, tolerant kitty...You know, I wonder if Mommy knows what a good thing she has...I mean after all, how many kitties would let their lives stop being about them & allow their lives to be controlled by their human...Geesh, I'm ashamed I'm a cat, please don't tell anyone about this, it sure makes me look bad..MOL...HKL, where did I go wrong!!!... I hope you are still top cat in your house !!!!...I also hope you have a purrfect week, I know I won't...Disgusted & Annoyed Purrs, Princess O

sorry we have not been on very much. Mommy is closing down the cat rescue and is moving in with her boyfriend so we have been helping her pack boxes and trying to keep all my toys hid so she does not pack them back. she has been telling us about our new outdoor run that she is working on and it sounds cool. she got a call from a guy that wants to adopt 2 cats this morning so we will see what happens. she adopted out 10 in the last month. well did your momma get the garden in? mommy is almost finished except I saw that she has not planted our catnip yet so I will have to have a meow with her about that. well you take care and I will keep you up to date on the move. We are going to have new siblings too. Miss Mew and Tommy. Tommy is bigger than me hee hee. well see you later.

we know the feeling!
janet litterly forgot about sandy's birthday and now with others coming up fast, she's likely to forget again due to all she and the family here have going on always on the run somewhere in the area for shopping, groceries, doctor's appts. dental appts. you name it always happens!
back to work for janet despite having the sinus-allergy bug and she'll feel ready for bed after her 4 hour shift. she's on otc meds for right now and will ask when she sees her nurse practioner on tues for warts being frozen off as one is gone and another is on the verge of disappearing whilst the other is stubborn! sandy,ana, haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

Mol! Yeah, baby humans can be kinda scary, that's for sure! They just don't grow as fast as we kitties do, and they tend to grab and touch everything they see, heh, heh! Luckily, we are a lot faster than they are! But she is very cute! Mom says she reminds her of her niece! Purrsonally, we think its because they all look alike, mol! (cat joke)

Molokai
Serene seascapes, unspoiled coastlines, untamed wilderness. We visit Molokai & travel back to a timeless place. This is an island that stays true to its Hawaiian traditions - tucked away from the hustle of the outside world; where no building is taller than a coconut tree; there’s no traffic & no traffic lights; where you can feel the power of Hawaiian culture from an area near Maunaloa, said to be the birthplace of hula, to the natural wonders of Halawa Valley.
Molokai is only 38 miles long and 10 miles across at its widest point. It is a friendly & family-oriented island that has deep connections with its Hawaiian ancestors. Unlike the visitor industry on the larger Hawaiian Islands, Molokai has preserved its true Hawaiian culture. More than one third of this island's residents have over 50% Hawaiian blood. Molokai residents farm, fish, hunt & gather many of their basic needs & they enjoy this lifestyle. Here we need to slow down, be less demanding, & respect the Molokai way of life. Molokai is the real deal. We are visiting the true Hawaii. We will enjoy & respect Molokai & her people.
Lining the northeast coast are the towering cliffs of the North Shore Pali. At 3,600 to 3,900 feet from sea base to top, they are the tallest sea cliffs in the world; their near-vertical plunge ends 2000 feet below sea level. We step cautiously to the edge to peek over. Whoa, that’s a drop! Later in the day, we do some ocean kayaking along the face of the cliffs; this is amazing beyond belief! We also discover secret, secluded beaches, sea birds, & cascading waterfalls which provide incredible, photogenic scenery
We then hike into the East End’s classic cathedral valley to see Hawaii back in time. It is believed ancient Polynesians settled in lush Halawa Valley as early as 650 AD. This area, half a mile wide and three to four miles deep, and blessed with beautiful vistas and towering waterfalls, is one of the island's most historic areas. Roughly two miles up the trail is the impressive, double-tiered 250-foot Moa’ula Falls. If you’re considering taking a dip into the pool, drop a ti leaf into the water first. Hawaiian legend says that a giant moo (lizard) lives at the bottom of the pool. If the ti leaf sinks, the moo is in no mood for visitors. If the ti leaf floats, it’s safe to enter. Our ti leaves are forming a veritable flotilla, and we slip gratefully into the refreshing pool. Soon we are splashing and playing like … well, kitties.
We have been invited to a luau by the residents of a small village near Maunaloa, birthplace of the hulu. After dining on succulent roast pig, and all the tasty side dishes, we are given grass skirts to put on for a hula lesson. Soon we are dancing and telling the stories of the island, looking almost like natives.
