Where I hang out: The highest point of view.

My favorite grubs: Magellan likes wild game and healthy table food (not scraps) as much as his Friskies canned food. He also loves Dannon plain yogart.

momma also said she saw on the news this morning that a lady in oklahoma foune her two precious kitties after searching the debris for hours. one has a broken leg and the other is just fine. sure did put a big smile on momma's face
momma ordered and inspiron 15.6" with touch screen from dell. sure hope she likes it and it gets here soon so we can get to our hockey games again before playoffs are over.

445 Happy for Merribelle
We are so thankfully happy that Merribelle is recovering. We think that you should read the labels on your mom's human foods too. In any case listen to your trusted Dr. and take your medicine and good luck finding a tasty low protein food. Do not drink water from the facets it contains many things that kitties just can not process. Clorination, Floride etc. Even well water has many harsh minerals. Ask your vet.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hello Magellan
What’s mew with you? I have WONDERFUL mews!!!! Dr. William called - my T4 by equilibrium dialysis thyroid test was NEGATIVE!!!! Thankfully that means I do not have hyperthyroidism.

I have decided that I really do not like to eat the Prescription Diet k/d canned food. I will eat the k/d dry but not the canned food. So Mommy has been busy researching other canned foods with low protein (less than 10%) for me. The crazy woman is also studying our food labels. Do I read the labels on all that junk SHE eats???

Tonight is my last dose of that nasty Clavamox for the UTI. After I have been off it for four days, Mommy will take my urine sample to Dr. William to be rechecked. Hopefully the UTI will be all gone.

Mommy & Nana have a meeting scheduled with Dr. William @ 9 a.m. this Caturday as they have a growing list of questions & concerns. Poor Doc! You would think they love me or something!!!

Have a lovely day.

443 Busy Spring
Busy Busy Busy. Every one is doing something. Gardening, Cooking and Socializing. Magellan was even too busy to go for his stroller walk this evening so we all went without him. But he was waiting by his buggy when we got back so we still took him for a short walk. GeGe, Molly, Chanda, Deno and Gizzy all doggie friends waited for Magellan to come home to walk with them but he was late because he must have been busy doing something else. It was a beautiful day in the neighbor hood for sure. Even cooked a turkey dinner with all the fixings. Whow I bet I'll be tired out tomorrow. Life is grand.

Hello Magellan
Thank you for your kind words, prayers & sweet thoughts. Like many of you, Mommy knows all too well about kidney disease. Her Dot passed away at the age of 17 from kidney disease & hyperthyroidism in October 2000. Mommy had hoped it would be a very long time before she was faced with this awful disease again. She will do her very best to give me the greatest care possible & lots of TLC.

I am eating the k/d canned and dry foods pretty well so far. Mommy says it is extremely difficult having one baby on a special diet. But we are doing our best with this situation & taking it one day at a time.

Thanks again for your prayers & concern. We really do appreciate it. Job 12:10 says “In God’s hands is the life of every creature.” We believe this to be true.

Keeping Izy in our prayers.

Love,
Q MerryBelle & Mommy Angela

440 Voters Thankyou and Prayers
Proverbs 12:10
Dear Casper Todd, Thank you for the bible reference. I love that verse. "A righteous man cares for the needs of the animals. And Deuteronomy chapter 31 is in general. "Those who care for the lives of the beasts will have a long life" that is my summary of the chapter and I love that there is a promise which gives us hope even in this life that you do reap what you sow and so does everyone else. I'm thankful that we are blessed with the crown of compassion. It is a gift from God.
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you and ask that you be with all of our kitties here on cat channel and everywhere. This day I lift up MerryBelle and ask that you heal her and keep her safe and heathy from this kidney disease. Comfort those who love her and bless them with the knowledge to know what to do. Keep Magellan and our stray cat colony healthy and happy. And please be with Izy cat as she is lost and she has lost her caregiver, Beverly. Amen."
Magellan and I drink Distilled Water only. This is nothing but pure water and keeps everything cleaned out. You must have a good raw diet as well so that you still get your minerals and enzymes from your food because the water is only a cleansing agent but I believe in this. However, Magellan does go out and drink from a rain puddle sometimes. He is a twelve year old neutered male and so far he has been blessed with perfect health. Tina did experience some trouble urinating a few times but the distilled water always cleared it right up.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hello Magellan
How are you? Yesterday I visited Dr. William for my annual checkup, blood work (CBC, 6-panel, T3 & T4), shots and 3-month Schirmer eye test. First the good news – my eyes are doing well.

Mommy’s intuition told her something was going on with me, so now the not-so-good mews. I am in the very early stages of kidney disease:
My BUN level = 38 (normal is 16-36)
My Creatinine = 2.6 (normal is .8-2.4)

Dr. William says we caught this early. For now, we are going to treat it by changing my diet to Prescription Diet k/d. So far, I am eating both the k/d canned and the k/d dry food. We will recheck my levels in 3 months.

I also have a UTI, so I am taking Clavamox, the wonder drug. My thyroid level (T4) is in the “grey area” so Dr. William sent some of my blood to Texas A&M so they can run a test called T4 by Equilibrium Dialysis. We should receive those results next week.

As you can imagine, Mommy is very upset, stressed, & worried about me. Please keep us in your prayers.
Hugs,
Q MerryBelle

What's mew with you? Yesterday we celebrated my adoptiversary. Mommy adopted me when I was just six weeks old. That was 7 years ago. I love my furever home!

So sorry about the feral kitty having FeLV and now you all have to be tested. We hope you all test negative for this horrible disease.

God bless your Mom for helping spay/neuter the feral kitties. Proverbs 12:10a says “A righteous man cares for the needs of his animals”.

436 God bless all
Thank you Tigger's mom for the help and prayers.
Good luck Casper Todd with your green earth day rescue.
Well yesterday was very eventful. We took two rescues in to be neutered. One was a wonderful young male who was as gentle as a lamb and good as gold. He appeared in camp and appeared to be abandoned because no one claimed him in two weeks. So he went into loving indoor home yesterday. That was the joyous part of the day.
The other cat was very feral and by the grace of God he was box trapped just after dark the night before surgery and also by the grace of God we had him tested for Feline Luekemia and Aids. It ended up that he tested positive and had to be put down, which is the right choice since he was very wild and could not have been kept indoors by anyone. The worse part of that is that from now on all of cats will have to be tested for this and put down if positive and given the shot if negative. Our pet cats may have been exposed and therefore, Magellan and our colony of 4 will need tested but I believe we will keep them as indoor cats if positive and give them the shot every year if negative. I am going to spend this weekend researching everything I can on the subject. Our last rescue was Vinnie and he tested negative and he got the shot so he is the only cat that I know right now that I am not worried about. I will need to contact all the vets and all the rescue agency's in hopes of finding the best deal financially of protecting our cat colony. Any advice would be appreciated.

Casper Todd Congratulations and we will look into the feature story about you. Cool news. We know how exciting that is to be featured in a magazine. I am going to be having another foster brother at the end of this week. April 6th it was Vinnie an older cat and now it's Rocky a young male. I don't get too bothered by them as long as they are kept in the motor home and not brought into the camper with me. And of course as long as they only stay during their recovery from surgery. Yes, so many cats do not have homes and my mom is kept so very busy trying to do whatever she can to help them. As long as I still get all I need I don't really mind. The dad of the household just tends to complain about everything no matter what anyway but sometimes he does help out and still complains along the way.

Hello Magellan
Today is Pet Owners Independence Day

which means that our pawrents are supposed to take the day off from work and send us to work in their place. . . a role-playing switcheroo! Yeah right, like that is going to happen!

Our lives are purrfect – we stay home, sleep all day, lie around on the back of the sofa and spend our day cleaning ourselves, eating, lounging, chasing balls, and taking long cat naps. Maybe our pawrents can spend the day enjoying our life: sleep all day and eat whenever they want!

Have a silly day!

428 Congratulations & Sympathy
Congratulations Casper Todd - enjoy looking at yourself. I know it is awesome I do it too. I've been in magazine's and video camera but I really love looking in the mirrow each morning to make sure my tuxedo is just purrrfect.

Sympathy's to our Izy Cat whose owner died last week and Izy has not been seen since but I am hopeful a neighbor will find her.

Yesterday my dear friend Beverly was found dead. April 11th 2013. There is an empty space in my life now. I was planning to spend some nice spring days with her again this year. She was a very caring person, full of love and she did make a wonderful difference in all the lives she touched, human and animal alike. The last time I talked to her she was very happy and had many good things to share. "Dear Heavenly Father, welcome Beverly back to you with open loving arms remember all of her acts of kindness and relieve her from all sorrow and pain. Be with those of us who will truly miss her and are in mourning for her now, including her beloved little doggy Sarah and Izy girl cat and Frank who was by their side as they will need to mourn together and be comforted with your love. Amen"

426 A prayer for Vinnie and all cats today
"Dear Heavenly Father, creator of all we thank you for all of the special people who you have crowned with compassion to go the extra mile to help the less fortunate. Now be with the dearest women Theodosia, who after a very long busy day drove another hour to come and make sure our Vinnie boy got to his neutering and eye examine appointment this morning. Be with all of the cats and kittens who are having surgery today and bring Vinnie home safely and ready to have a happy camping season. Amen" The sun is shining and although it is a chilly morning it is going to be nice. Magellan is all excited and he wants his bath but not until tomorrow or Monday as camp is very busy today and we are thinking we will have visitors and we will need to focus on finding a ride home for our Vinnie boy.

A SUPER GOOD DAY TO YOU!
Merry April Fools Day! Mom is home and had to go and pick the dogs up at the vet at 10AM. They stayed at the kennel for Easter Weekend, while mom was with cousin Janet. Mom has been feeling well, for which we are very happy. Then they had their yearly exams before coming home--- he=he! Both are doing well for their ages, 12 and 10 years. Will get results on bloodwork tomorrow. Heartworm test negative. Got shots too. They got stuck with 3 needles each! No April fools. Had their nails clipped also. Mom was happy this morning with an extra morning that she didn't have to get up before 5am. She thought retirement meant sleeping in! Don't bet on it. Have a Super day! Also, when K.Barney retired he did promise to come back with a few more stories and will hope to at least do a couple this month, probably after mom gets done with her taxes and finds help for painting the house and doing other repairs. HI MEGALLAN
Australian Possum
Ridgey Didge Possum Roll
1 possum
5 tbs balsamic vinegar
5 onions
2 cloves garlic
5 carrots
1 stalk celery
2 turnips
3 tomatoes
2 tbs cold pressed olive oil
1 clump italian parsley
1 tbs fresh rosemary
5 bay leaves
3 cloves
2 tbs Vegemite
1 damper (like a hot dog roll)
Note: there is a species of possum which is protected in Australia. They cannot be trapped, shot or hunted. If you run over an Australian possum, and it is still alive, call WIRES, which protects Australia's native fauna.
If it's dead, then this recipe may serve a purpose.

First, skin the possum, checking first for lice, myxomitosis, and living young in the pouch if babies are there and old enough turn them loose in the woods.Separate legs from breast. Discard head, neck, tail and claws. If you wish, hold the offal for thanksgiving stuffing. Then cut the possum into long sringy pieces.
Marinate overnight in vinegar, rosemary, bay leaf, clove, garlic & oil mixture.
Make the roll: split the damper, and spread vegemite on each side. Put aside.
Chop the carrot, turnip and tomato into small pieces, then cook with the rest of the ingredients, and stew in a pot, adding a chicken stock cube for seasoning. Dip the possum pieces in the pot, then barbecue for 20 minutes (or until cooked to personal taste).
To serve: like a hot dog, use the damper & vegemite roll to surround pieces of possum.
Serve with chips, salad and beer.

Cajun Possum Chili
Tomatoe Sauce (depends on possum)
1 tsp.-1 cup Chili Powder (Depends on Taste and possum)
1 Large possum or 3 small
1 large pot or two large ones if the first isn't enough.
5-10 chili peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 red peppers (depends on taste and possum)
5-10 jalapenio peppers (depends on taste and possum)
How ever much Cayenne Pepper you like, it depends on your taste and possum.
1 tsp. Black Pepper
a pinch of salt
Chili Beans for extra flavor
And whatever other ingredients that are hot and spicy you would like to add.
1. Skin possum(s)
2. Remove internal organs, head, claws, and bones. There is no flavor or use for these. But if you want to add them, go ahead.
3. Put some tomatoe sauce in the pot(s). Then add the possum.
4. Chop peppers
5. Skip step four if you don't want chopped peppers; it doesn't matter.
6. Put the rest in and let set for a long dang while.
7. Before serving make sure you have enough bread, Milk, and Toliet paper for after dinner.
8. Serve. Enjoy
9. Race for bathroom. Whoever is first will make a large stench. Have enough air freshner

How to Catch a Possum
Since all the recipes will involve possum, I figured it might be worth it to include a section on how to get your hands on one.
I know of several ways to catch a possum. Perhaps the easiest is to simply drive around for a while in your truck. The problem will soon resolve itself.
(SCCRRRREEEEEEECCHHH!!. . . SPLAT. . .)
Much more fun, however, is to take your dogs and shotgun, and go into the woods and hunt one down. The advantage to this method is that you don't have to scrape the possum off the pavement. The disadvantage is that you do have to worry about shotgun pellets in the meat.
(OUCH! Dadgum it! There went my best tooth!)

Not to mention that a shotgun blast can really mess up the hide, which makes it a lot harder for the taxidermist.
It is also possible to set traps to catch a possum, but this method is notoriously unreliable. Possums like to stay in the trees, and you're much more likely to catch something else.
(Hey, Ed! There's something in the trap! See them bushes moving? Let's see what it is! . . . OH, $#&@! IT'S A SKUNK!!)
Another thing you might want to take into consideration is that possums are scavengers. They eat anything. If a possum is in the road, chances are he's there looking for lunch. Therefore, it's best to catch them alive if at all possible and feed them corn for a few days to clean them out real good before eating them. You just don't know whose garbage they've been into. After all, you wouldn't want to eat something that's been eating Aunt Edna's leftovers, would you? You know, she's the one who brings that stuff that nobody ever touches to the family reunion.
(Hey, man, what IS that stuff? I think it's still alive!)
Possums are also notoriously hard to kill, and they, well, play possum if they feel threatened. (That's why they're called possums!) I remember hearing about someone who had a possum get in his garage one time. He was real mad about something, and having a possum rooting around in his garage making a mess just made it worse, so he took after that thing with a shovel. The possum never had a chance. He did have to chop its head off to make sure it was dead; otherwise they just get up and walk off. It was real strange; right after he beheaded the possum, lightning or something struck the garage, blowing out all the lightbulbs and giving him quite a shock. (If you don't get the joke here, don't worry.)
Of course, if you take this page seriously anyway... you might be a redneck.

That ought to get you started. Now, on to the recipes tomorrow

Yes we love the series the Bible and we celebrate the day our Lord rose from the dead for all of our sins. No Easter bunny etc. stuff in house hold. I keep it obvious that we serve and worship the One True God and his son Jesus.
PLEASE DON'T FEED THE CAT'S RIGHT FROM THE CANS AS THEY HAVE SHARP EDGES ON THEM. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE CUT MY FINGERS SEVERAL TIMES JUST RINSING THEM OUT TO RECYCLE THEM. This was a heart felt cause that I was very serious about last week when I cut my finger and also meet a stray cat with a bad eye who was being feed by some one (not me) directly from a can of cat food. So the really God blessed ending to the story was that a dear Cat Channel friend actually send me a Pampered Chief battery operated can opener. Well, it works great no sharp edges the whole rim comes off. And I was very happy for this today as our electric was off for several hours and I did need to use it. She also sent me the hand operated version of the pampered chief can opener but I can not figure out how to use it and neither can anyone else I know. So if anyone can explain this to me I would appreciate it. We have a very hard time keeping up with battery's.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hello Magellan
Yes we have been watching The Bible too. Very good mini-series.

We might be a little early, but we will not be online again until next Monday. So here’s wishing you a happy, silly, sunny, funny “Easter Bunny” Day!

(“)_(“)

On a more serious note, the true miracle of Easter is that we serve a risen Lord who gives us new Life in Him.✞

Kisses,

P.S. Many of you have said you like the picture of me with the Easter Bunny in my photo gallery on the bottom of my page. The Bunny in the photo is not Mommy. That pic was taken when I was only a year old and I went to visit the Easter Bunny. I was brave back then! Not so much now.

hi magellan
sure hope the stray kits eye will be okay and it is so good ur momma help them

ready for another funny to start our day my time is almost over and i have enjoyed being ur queen for march but lets vote daily for our spring queen, trixie,

This true story about two hunters from Michigan was originally reported on a news program.

A guy buys a brand new Lincoln Navigator for $42,500 and has $560 monthly payments. He and a friend go duck hunting in winter, and all the lakes are frozen solid.

These two guys go out on the lake with the guns, the dog and, of course, the new vehicle.

They drive out onto the lake ice, unload the guns, decoys, dog, etc. and get ready.

Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the ducks and something for their decoys to float on. In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it is going to take a little more effort than an ice hole drill.

So, out of the back of the new Navigator comes a stick of dynamite with a short, 40-second fuse.

Now these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that they want to place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they are standing (and the new Navigator), because they don't want to take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the burning fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast.

They light the 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite.

Remember a couple of paragraphs back when I mentioned the vehicle, the guns and the dog? Let's talk about the dog: A highly trained Black Lab used for RETRIEVING. Especially things thrown by the owner.

You guessed it, the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice. The two men yell, scream, wave their arms and wonder what to do now.

The dog, cheered on by all the shouting and waving, keeps coming.

One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with # 8 birdshot, great for ducks, but hardly big enough to stop a Black Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused, but continues on.

Another shot and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really confused and, of course, terrified, thinking these two geniuses have gone insane.

The dog takes off to find the nearest cover, which happens to be under the brand new Navigator.

----BOOM!---- Dog and Navigator are blown to bits and sink to the bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two idiots standing there with this "I can't believe this happened" look on their faces.

The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is not covered by their policy.

He still had yet to make the first of those $560 a month payments!

And you thought you had bad days.

Now,...stop your complaining & go have a good day.

We love a god chuckle so thank you for the jokes.
Our weekend was busy as usual always social activities and Sunday we had a Pizza party and watched the BIBLE on the history channel with friends, dogs and cats too.
I have to make it short and sweet today as our Izy was cotd yesterday and we must try and thank all of those who came by and voted and congratulated her. When will it ever be spring? Snow in Pa. and we have two appointments for two of the stray cats in camp and only one final came to me today so that I could clean up his eye. He has a bad eye and doesn't look too good. Hope he is ok and I will have him to veterinarian appointment April 6th so I am trying to spend some time with him so he can just be caged not trapped. The other is a female but she is very skiddish so she may need trapped.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

thought we would get off to a lighter note for today so i am gonna give u some hillybilly funnies

A hillbilly was stopped by a game warden in Kentucky recently with two ice chests of fish. He was leaving a cove well known for its fishing.
The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"
"Naw, sir, I ain't got none of them there licenses, no. You must understand, these here are my pet fish."
"Pet fish?" asked the game warden.
"Yeah. Every night I take these here fish down to da lake and let them swim 'round for a while. Then I whistle and they jump rat back into this here ice chest and I take them home."
"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!" says the warden.
The hillbilly looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, "It's the truth, Mr. Government man, I'll show you. It really works."
"Okay," said the game warden, "I've GOT to see this!"
The hillbilly poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited.
After several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, "Well?"
"Well, what?" asked the hillbilly.
The warden said, "When are you going to call them back?"
The hillbilly said, "Call who back?"
"The FISH!" replied the warden.
"What fish?" asked the hillbilly.
In Kentucky, we may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we ain't as dumb as folks think...

An old farmer went to town to see a movie. When he arrived at the ticket booth, the ticket agent asked, "Sir, what's that on your shoulder?"
the old farmer said, "That there is my pet rooster, Chuck. Wherever I go, Chuck goes."
"I'm sorry sir," said the ticket agent. "We can't allow animals in the theater."
The old farmer went around the corner and stuffed the bird down his overalls. He returned to the ticket booth, bought a ticket and entered the theater.
He sat in the only empty seat, next to two old widows named Mildred and Marge. The movie started and soon the rooster began to squirm. The old farmer was compelled to unbutton his fly so that Chuck could stick his head out and watch the movie.
"Marge," whispered Mildred.
"What?" said Marge.
"I think the guy next to me is a pervert."
"What gives you that idea?" asked Marge.
"He undid his pants and has his thing out," whispered Mildred.
"Well, don't worry about it," said Marge. "At our age, it ain't like we've haven't seen 'em all."
"I thought so, too," admitted Mildred, "but this one's eatin' my popcorn!"

Dear Miles we most certainly try to visit all of the COTD cats. We love learning about each new cat and one a day is very possible. Magellan and Tina have both had that special day and received the COTD award. We do not celebrate any birthdays not even for the kitties. But we are still aware of getting older and Magellan is going to be 12 years old the end of May 2013. No celebration - just another wonderful day which each day is a gift from God. Enjoy this wonderful gift from God day.

We love meeting as many of the cotd cats as we can. We are 4531 vote for you today too. Is it spring where you are? The birds are chirping in Pa. today with some very needed sunshine to melt the dusting of snow. I see Robins in the yard but it still seems like winter here.
