About Me

Active within 536 Days

Hi! My name is Magellan

I am Domestic Shorthair from Ellwood City,, PA

Nicknames: Jellyboy, Pumpkin Pooh, Jelly belly, Jellin, Pooh boy

Age: 14 years old

Gender: M

Coat: short haired

Education: Magellan was always a fearless explorer. His daring ways inspired a song, Jellyboy Cat that evolved into an animated video and a fan club on Facebook. Hopefully he will become famous, until then; protecting and obeying Tina, walking on rooftops, climbing trees, grabbing cloths pins off the line and keeping his beautiful tuxedo coat shiny clean will forever make Magellan special.

My favorite tricks and treats are: Yes, He sits pretty, speaks, fetches and jumps but only when he wants and Friskies Selects

Where I hang out: The highest point of view.

My favorite grubs: Magellan likes wild game and healthy table food (not scraps) as much as his Friskies canned food. He also loves Dannon plain yogart.

My pet peeves: Not being able to go outside for various reasons that Magellan doesn't understand.

What I love about my owners: She has taken care of me all of my life. I can count on her unconditional love.

My cat hobbies: Being outside

Pet motto: Life is good as long as I get to do what I want

How We Met

Tina, Magellan's mom, was named after the 2001 CBS survivor winner when she drug herself to our doorstep a very wounded stray. Thanks to God and Dr. Brown she is the best mom to her nine-year old kitten, Magellan. Magellan has been with us from day one of his life and this made our bond very special. Tina died August 9th 2012 and Magellan missed her but he became even more bonded and close with us his human parents. We had a very wonderful stressless year together and he was the perfect cat. God blessed him with a wonderful happy and healthy life of almost 13 years. He became very sick at the end of October 2013 and upon having blood tests at the vet that showed he had kidney, liver failure as well as a blood infection and high glucose level with a very low body temperature we made the decision to hold him and love him as he passed on. This was the hardest of all my pets parting but I am thankful I had the strength to make the decision not to let him ever suffer. I have been suffering very much without him but with time I believe I will get better. We spent so much quality time together and he was so perfect and beautiful. It was a nice day October 24th 2013 and his only day of suffering. We buried him near his mommy Tina. I miss him more than I've ever missed any of my furbaby's and I suppose it could be that he did not just die on his own or that I do not have another furbaby in my home to help me through the lose but somehow it still feels like he was just so very perfect and so much loved and so very special.

Cat Channel Good-bye
I will miss Cat Channel as well. I needed to come in and blog my feelings with other cat parents and especially during the mourning of my boy, Magellan. Sharing the stories. And meeting new friends. Also, it was really nice to get reward points. I will always cherish the children's cat books that I received. I went to Cat College and answered quiz questions I loved learning many new facts about cats. When is Cat Channel going to close down?

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hi Angel Magellan
Since we aren’t sure how much longer Cat Channel will be around, we decided to go ahead and leave our goodbye blog today, although we will remain active until the very end. We joined CC in November 2006 when Casper Todd was only a few months old. Caturday he will celebrate his 8th birthday. Where did the time go?

We have so many special memories of CC, the most important of which is the many furiends we have made during these 7+ years. Way back in 2009 when Casper Todd was so very sick with feline demodicosis, the outpouring of love & support from our CC family overwhelmed us and helped me cope during that horrible time. It’s that sense of community that we will miss the most, pulling together when one of our furiends is sick or has crossed the Bridge, and also celebrating the happy times.

The hardest part of any furiendship is when it's time to say goodbye. As much as we might like things to stay the same, change is an inevitable part of life. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. Every story has an end, but in life every end is just a new beginning.

There are many tools available with which we can continue to communicate, but even without these tools there is a secret that only real furiends know, and it is this - All the mountains and valleys in the world cannot separate furiends whose hearts are as one.

Until we meet again on another site, remember that the best things in life are the people we love, the places we’ve been, and the memories we’ve made along the way. Let’s not cry because CC is over, let’s smile because it happened.

Your Furever Furiends,
The Awesome Pawsome Threesome™ & Mommy Angela

551 The story of Lacy
The story of Lacy written below is one I can really identify to. In the summer of 2012 we had a very nasty man demand that we remove a mommy cat and her five beautiful kittens. Well even though it isn't our job our hearts take over and so Mommy Savahna cat was box trapped along with her kittens. We did reach into the big cage and take the kittens out to be handled and mommy was a bit nervous but thank God she never decide to bite or scratch even though she panted. Well the day came that she got spayed and the kittens all found homes and so did she, however she was not kept inside long enough to get use to indoor home life and she ran out the door never to be seen again. Kelly, is a wonderful gentle spayed female and the only cat that has ever bitten me. It was my fault and I learned much from the incident. Kelly is in our home right now getting use to the human daddy. We are not sure if her health is up to par or if she is just adjusting to indoor life as well. She needs to get out of the cold and have a real home we are just use to much more active and interactive cats as Tina and Magellan both spend most of their days with us. Time will tell. She is skinny in the back end and I hope to see her put on some weight with eating some better food and always having it available as well as the water. I have her on distilled water and urinary tract food along with Purina One Beyond with cranberry's as one of the ingredients. I'm going to give her a few weeks to see if she improves but if not she will go to vet. Magellan died Oct. 24th and I had been planning to take Kelly for the winter even if Magellan was still living as I thought they would make a good pair but I was given the opportunity to take a weeks vacation to warm weather so I will not be able to take her in for good until January. Right now I am preparing her and making sure we all now what to expect and what she will need while we will all be staying in one big motel room for two months.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

549 Winter Feeders Question
Question is how do we keep the Raccoon out of the self-feeders that we must leave out for our cat colony when we can not be there daily in the winter months?
Mom has several good people helping her with the Camp Cats that do not have an indoor home. But all of these cats love their outdoor homes and would be very hard to place inside even in the winter. But several amazing blessing came to camp yesterday and made for a very interesting day of cat care. Beverly bought Vinnie a heated winter house and she bought raccoon proof storage buckets for the three feeding stations. Now all we need to figure out is how to keep the Raccoons out of the self feeders that we leave for the cats when the people can only come in once a week.

548 Update
Mom got a good night sleep and she woke up to an article assignment that has sparked her back into being needed and having purpose. Also a wild turkey ran through the yard while she was enjoying her morning coffee outside without a coat. Last time she did that I was there on her lap and all was well in her world. My passing really was hard for mom but she is getting on slowly. I appreciate not suffering anymore and understand why she is missing me more than she ever missed any of the others that have gone before me. Yesterday she actually almost got to touch Minnie and Vinnie did come around for his flee treatment and a good look over. He is a sweetie and he has many neighbors caring for him besides mom. Vinnie did stay with us two overnights and he wasn't any problem because mom kept him away from me so that neither of us had anything to be stressed about. Mom was very good at keeping things low stress. Dad on the other hand is always venting and what if what if around everything. Meano and Goldie also visited with mom yesterday. She did not see Kelly but assumes she is being kept inside so that mom can't take her home for another visit before taking her away for the winter. Mom I like Kelly too and I was also hoping to move her into our home but I know you don't like introducing two cats together and I know you enjoyed our one on one time too. It is good that your memories of me are happy and you have so many photo's of my big green loving eyes that would melt your heart everyday. I know you love me." Magellan

547 Quiz Master
Hey dear friends I am four out of five at quiz master today how about that.
And the photo of the cat of the day has really caught my attention so I left a congratulations message and found out that they are all rescue cats too with a very interesting story as well. Helpful thank you catchannel maybe I will not cry today. Maybe I will feel happiness soon. Maybe my joy will return.
The profile photo is beautiful and artistic. Congratulations your story also touched me. You will be very busy meeting all of your new friends today and I know that you may not even have the chance to read everything.
Magellan, Tina and Vicki are all angels and as far as Izy we really don't know but her human caregiver died in the spring 2013 and she disappeared. I have been hands on involved with the rescue of over 50 cats and kittens within a campground since 2001 when my precious Tina came to me and she had a litter of kittens and I kept Magellan and he became the joy of my life but he passed too quick and I am trying to cop with it and having the hardest time of my life right now. Currently I go out and feed the five remaining cats that call this campground their home. I am hoping that I can move at least one of these strays into my home before I have to leave them all for two months. It isn't as simple as people think and sometimes the humans are the real problem not the kitties. I've done a good job and therefore I do not have any kitties crying at my door to come in and I would love to just open my door and let them stay. All five that I care for are spay/neutered and very much use to outdoor life. Magellan was kept safe within these gates but he was indoors too and I took him with me when I left.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Good morning. Yes Mom will miss you for a very long time and you will always be in her heart & memories. It is sad kitties don't live as long as people but this gives people the opportunity to save many cats over the course of their life time. And some kitties are more special than others. We pray Mom finds another very special kitty to warm her heart. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect day. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

Hi Angel Magellan
Yes I am a big boy. Since I am allergic to wheat gluten, Mommy is very careful about my food & treats. I eat Blue Buffalo Wilderness Wild Delights canned foods, Purina Cat Chow Naturals dry food, and Pawty Mix or Natural Sensations treats.

Sissy eats Iams ProHealth pate canned foods and Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food. Because MerryBelle has kidney disease, she has to have low protein foods, so she eats Purina nf kidney function dry & canned foods and Science Diet k/d. MBelle also eats her lysine treats twice a day.

Mommy says it is a challenge having three babies who eat different foods. But she loves us and tries to take the best possilbe care of us, just like your Mom did with you. We hope with each passing day that her pain of losing you is a little less. Hopefully she can focus on the good times you two spent together. Mommy's 17 year old kitty Dot passed away in October 2000. Mommy still misses her very much.

Has your Mom thought about making a scrapbook of your life? That is one way to help ease her loss and also to perserve your photos. Just a thought.

Purrs to you,
K Casper Todd

544 Mom misses me so much
Mom misses me so much that she was dreaming I was there in bed sleeping with her just like I always did. I see her crying again and I don't remember her crying this much when we went through the good-bye time of Shelby or my mommy Tina together. She really did need me and I really did need her in those times too. She put my stroller away because it made her cry in the morning when I wasn't sleeping in there. Just like mom I prefer to sleep alone and move and stretch without disturbing my loved one but when it was cold we both loved to snuggle under the blankets. I know that mom loved seeing me first thing in the morning. Coffee time was also My time and I loved getting a very small amount of real cream at coffee time. Mom is drinking her coffee black now and that makes me think she just bought that yummy cream for me.

Sounds like quite a project delivering food to so many feeding stations for so many kitties. And in the bitter cold too. Your Mom is a very special lady to care so much about the ferals. They are very lucky to have her. It never got out of the 20's last week. Even during the day! This week we are having a heatwave, mid 40's all week! Nice break. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. 542 Remember the homeless
Remember the homeless especially in the cold winter months both human and animal. I will leave my cozy warm camper and head out into below freezing but not below zero weather with two cups of thanksgiving leftovers divided into 5 plastic covered dishes. One Qt of water and One Qt of dry cat food. I will pack all of this and a cat carrier to transport Kelly here as well as a small bag of necessities that I just might need. Tick puller, flee comb soft brush, kleenex, peroxide, cotton balls, triple ointment. A can of cat food and a small spoon. Wet food can not be left out long because it freezes as does the water. So I pack this all into a golf cart and drive around to the feeding stations. Starting 1 mile away and up a snowy hill then down a snowy hill to the 1/2 mile away station where Kelly, Meano and Goldie are. I will hope to pick up Kelly and bring her down for another getting use to us day. I will do this every day but all humans must leave Jan and Feb so these kitties are on their own with the shelter, food and water that we can get to them and leave with them. And then I worry for those who are not inside a warm and cozy shelter.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hi Angel Magellan,
It sounds like your Mom always made sure you had some Thanksgiving left overs even though your Mom went to visit family.
How sweet that your Mom stayed home this year & cooked and made sure the kitties and doggies had Thanksgiving dinner. How nice that she doesn't give them a lot at one time so their systems aren't upset by the rich turkey.
We have raccoons that drop by our yard and eat the bird seeds! They actually hang from the feeders!

Magellan and Tina loved their Thanksgiving left overs but they were always left at home while we went to visit family on Thanksgiving day. I always cooked at home one day that week too and made sure all the kitties got a Thanksgiving meal. This was the first year that I cooked on the day and did not see my family either and instead of being inside with my cats I still had two neighbor doggies included in Thanksgiving dinner. I will be taking the kitties goodies all week as I split them up individually so that I don't overload their systems with too much rich food and cause them more harm then good. The wet food just freezes up if they don't get to it real quick. Interesting to check out the kitty prints in the snow. I am not actually seeing Vinnie or Minnie but they both appear to walk right over top of my boot trail. I'm not a snow shoveler I just put on boots and walk through the snow to make a path for them. Self feeders are working as it appears the raccoons are leaving even Vinnie's food alone. I am searching for how to raccoon proof the cat feeders I have been told that there is something to put in the food that they will stay away and yet it's good for cats but that doesn't make sense to me yet. It seems from observations last winter that raccoons must not come out everyday all year long because we never had any trouble with the feeders in the snow and real cold weather but when we got a thawing we got raccoon. Looking for information on this to help us prepare out cats for winter.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

536 Turkey Leftovers
Bringing some turkey leftovers to all. Mom sits down after dinner with the very carefully prepared turkey to clean it and sort it out for left-overs and kitty portions. She is so careful not to leave any bones in there as cooked bones can splinter and harm a cat. (Raw bones are not so bad for the digestive track as cook bones) Mom is also careful to tear the meat into small pieces and not to give them too much of the skin.. Last thing we want to do is upset the digestive track of the poor outside kitties that we are hoping to help by giving them food they are not use to. Mom has a quart of turkey scraps and she will ration this out in small portions to five cats for a few days.
(No bones, onions, garlic, chocolate, raisins as these are not good for animals.)
I will hope that the kitties come to eat their special dinner before it freezes up and if it freezes up I will save it until we get a day above 32 for a longer period of time.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hey Angel Magellan!
Sorry Mom was bit. Glad it healed up without stitches. Cat bites can be very bad. Mom was never bit by a cat but a dog bit her when she was pretty young. Hopefully Mom will be rewarded with a kitty who wants to stay inside with her. Mostly just rain here but some wet snow late in the day. Guess Mom should look outside to be sure nothing is accumulating. We are blessed to have your family in our lives. We wish you a very healthy, happy & safe Thanksgiving. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. 534 Animal Friends/Kelly
Dear Ammie, Your story is so very interesting and the fact that catchannel mom's pulled through to find all of you new forever homes and the transportation to get to them. Animal Friends in Pittsburgh, Pa. spay/neuter our stray/feral kitties. They bring their mobile unit into Butler Co. once a month and Operation Spay Neuter (OSN) organizes us for low cost spay/neuter. They take very good care of them giving them a wellness exam and rabies shot, flee and ear mite treatment if needed and worming, other shots and tests for a small amount more if needed. Animal Friends is a very great organization and they do so much more that I didn't even know of. Alley Cat Allies does huge things for stray cats as well. COTD awards are so very special. Magellan, was COTD in 2013 and we gave him extra treats and extra attention in between trying to respond and thank everyone. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful gifts and continue to enjoy all the new friendships you will make.

Dear Anderson, It was Kelly who bit me. I have been planning to take her into my home since my Tina died in 2012 but I waited for her to get all shots updated and pass her fel/fiv test. That all happened in August 2013 so I brought her down in September and planned to gradually get her use to us and to see if she would get along with Magellan. Well we had a wonderful day together. She even got her first bath and she loved it. I groomed and pampered her all day and then when I took her in Magellan's stroller to show her off to my walking buddies. I made the mistake of thinking that I could let a stranger pet her. Kelly darted right out of the stroller. Then my big mistake that got me bit was when if got dark and she was hiding I grabbed her from behind without even saying anything or letting her know it was me. I held on to her so she wouldn't get away and I got bit. I cleaned the wound out but I went to the hospital next morning because it was really swollen. She bit to the knuckle but with a good soaking and 10 days of antibiotics it healed up perfectly without stitches. Well that put a stop to moving her in while it was still nice enough outside for her to stay out and at her outdoor home which she did find her way back to and it is 1/2 mile away from me. So we have that very unpleasant experience to mend from. I will do everything I can to take her with me when I leave for Jan and Feb. and that is why I have been bringing her into our home for short visits. Jan and Feb if she is with me her feet will never touch the cold ground because she will have to stay inside. I believe she will love that and if she gets to love us she hopefully will stay even if we let her out when we get home. I don't know and I have had great luck with kitties that walk to my home on their own four feet. They never leave and they adjust very well to our home. I am open for God's purpose and will and ask for prayer for safety and wisdom.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Dear Sweet Angel Magellan,
I am in Florida now. I was at Animal Friends when my first Mom in PA adopted me. After my Mom crossed Rainbow Bridge in April 2011, I came to Florida to live with my second Mom.
A week after my first Mom's funeral, my brothers Indie, Bennie, Giovanni, Kato, and I were adopted by CatChannel Moms, and we started on our journey. Indie & Kato went to MA via the Phat Cat Express. Bennie, Giovanni & I came to GA & FL via the Honeysuckle Hauling Company.

Hey Angel Magellan!
Bummer! Goldie bit Mom in September? Hope she is okay. Cat bites can be very nasty & get infected. Your Mom is so good to the ferals and strays. Hope she will get some nice cats coming inside to stay with her. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

Dear Sweet Angel Magellan,
Thank you so much for dropping by to congratulate me on being COTD. How special do I feel…I can’t even put it into meows! This is such a prestigious award, and I am thrilled to wear my COTD badge with pride and honor today. When my Mom saw my picture in the COTD frame this morning, she was so proud of me she gave me four extra treats.

I know how hard it must be for your Mom - missing you so much. I missed my Mom in PA when she passed away. That is when my travels my new Mom in Florida. So far just a one-way trip. You were quite the traveler - back and forth to Myrtle Beach for years.

Peppermint's Mom #83902 did both my drawing and Angel Yum Yum's. She is very talented.

OMG, I received so many goodies from my furriends that I have put together a little basket to share with you. Enjoy and thank you so much for visiting with me today.

Kitty kisses and pawhugs, Ammie

529 Glory to the One true God
"Dear Almighty God, the one true God who has told us not to put any other Gods before you. I ask that you be with each dog and cat and the Animal Friends shelter and bring in those special homes that will adopt these kitties and puppies to give them that special forever home. Bless all of animal friends staff and volunteers. Their mobile unit has helped our feral and stray kitties here in Butler County for years. And I ask you to bless Animal Friends. And with your blessing Heavenly Father, I ask that your will for me will be to take our little stray kitty, Kelly out of the cold winter weather in Jan and Feb and that she will appreciate the love of a real home and decide to stay with us forever. I miss my Magellan so very much and I thank you for the years that I had with him and his mommy, Tina. Thank you for crowning so many of us with compassion to go the extra mile for these kitties. Please dear God bring back the glory to yourself from this St. in the red suit and send those in need to Animal Friends to adopt these very social and ready cats and send in the donations to help the cause and give us all the strength we need to keep on helping all of these cats in need. Be with my outdoor colony and I trust you will bless me with my inside kitty soon and that Kelly will come to love us. Amen"

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Mom has much patience and she has even been able to talk some of these ferals into cages but some never trust her. Some may not be completely feral and may actually be dropped off or abandon. Most of those meow a lot and appear very needy. The true feral doesn't ask for anything but appreciates the food. Kelly seemed to be a true feral and she was box trapped for her spaying but she got into the big cage from the box trap after surgery and mom cared for her in there for 14 days. She would even put a blanket on her at night. Kelly was very messy in her cage and so she would go in a small carrier to eat while mom would clean the cage all up. She seemed to like the cage and even after she was ready to go out she returned to sleep in the open cage on the pillow and blanket. Mom and her became pretty close but she still ran from everyone else. Then the women who let them be on her camp patio came back to camp. It took awhile for Kelly to warm up to her but she did. Six cats where cared for there. Grizzabella never did tame down but a beautiful picture of her made the thumbnail of Alley Cat Allies 2014 calender December page. Vicki and Trigger died and that as left three. Meano (Mom is the only one who is not afraid of him and he really loves her) Goldie came to her just fine last year but this year he is a bit skiddish. Kelly is ready to be a house cat after several years. She bit mom in September. Mom was happy that she didn't have the chance to bit me. Magellan

Hey Angel Magellan!
Mom checked the internet and saw your home is on the far side of PA. Bet it gets pretty cold there! That is amazing that the ferals let your Mom brush them and put flea treatments on them! That is great that they trust her so much. Hopefully soon one will come home with her & decide to stay. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Sweet Dreams. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

Anderson your mommy is very good too. Taking care of the shelter kitties. My mommy is still so sad and missing me even though I see how the stray cat colony needs her and she needs them right now. She groomed all three that came to see her at the feeding stations and told them all that they could move in with her if they wish. She invited them to walk on down with their own four paws and come on in and see if they liked it. So she cleaned their ears and eyes and totally brushed and flee combed them since it was a comfortable day outside under the patio of their feeding station. They got Hartz spot on flee/tick last week and it worked. Tomorrow it is going to be very very cold and they will get some canned cat food added to their dry so they eat it al up before it freezes. My mommy really wants to bring at least one of these strays in out of the weather but when she does they seem uncomfortable and want to hide so she takes them back to their outside home. She is using my brushes and combs on them now because they work better then the ones she left at the feeding stations. I guess that is ok. She knows I would have never tolerated that if I was still using them and she never used my brushes on any of them before. She even cloroxed the cat carries after each cat used them. Just in case. Oh she has not given any of them my blankies yet but I think she is waiting for the kitty who will be inside and have a forever home and then she will get them all out again.

Hey Angel Magellan!
Your Mom sure is good to the feral & stray kitties! She is a very caring wonderful purrson. We hope she gets some nice kitties to stay with her! Glad the weekend is almost here! One more day. Mom only works Tuesday & Wednesday next week. Lots of Mom time. Mom needs to make a trip to our shelter next week. She has stuff to drop off, bedding, aluminium cans, Redner receipts which they get 1% value, and of course a check. She has the hockey game on now so we have to keep our paws over our ears! MOL! Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

524 Our cat colony
Yes our camp feral/strays are taken care of as best as possible. We have had as many as 10 spayed and neutered with rabies shots and clean bill of health. Some were TNR (Trap Neuter and Return) many were easily tamed down and taken to clinic for care in regular cat carriers. We prefer the cat carriers but not all cats are tame enough for that. Out of the 10 originals we have lost two by an ignorant camper. And three passed away. We now have 6 that we know of. Meano loves me and I would love to move him into my home but he is the protector of Goldie who is skiddish and not ready to be in a home yet and Kelly a little female who I plan to take inside this winter and see how she likes our home and us. I attempted to move her into my home in September while I still had Magellan. We had a wonderful day and she even got a real bath and she loved it. But in the night she got out and when I saw her and suddenly grabbed her she bite me. Well, I worried more about if she would get back to her outdoor home ok. It's half a mile from me. Or if she would decide to come back to my home. She choose to go back to her original home so I have been just bringing her down for short visits inside. She hides for about 15 minutes under the chair or the bed but then she does come out and use litter box and eat and she will sit on my lab as long as I let her and getting groomed is her favorite thing. So my plans are to take her with me when I leave and keep her inside for the coldest of winters and hopefully when we get back to camp she may choose to just stay with me. Vinnie is a wonderful young male who I took to be neutered last spring. He spend the winter at camp but he quickly tamed up for me as I had to treat him for a bad eye. Many people helped pay for his care and I brought him down and kept him in our motor home away from Magellan for two days while he recovered. Well, his charm got him a summer home with an older couple and a young female cat but when they left for Florida they left him here for us to all take care of. Well I suppose that I could bring him home but he is 1 mile away and he would probably go back as well and..... I don't see him everyday when I feed him and I do see Kelly everyday when I feed her she comes running. Then there is Minnie our newest rescue. She is beautiful but she was box trapped for her spay date and she got out when we tried to transfer her from box trap to a comfy cage to recover. I barely know her but I take food 1 mile from me each day and I've seen her several times. She actually found my home base without any food being outside for her she came right to the door. Of course I opened a good can of cat food and put it over the dry and she ate the whole bowl so I gave her more and she came back and ate 1/2 of that. The next night she came to the door but I had company and she saw GeGe my doggie friend and she ran off and went back to her first feeding station one mile away. I saw her there again today when I went up to feed her

Hey Angel Magellan!
Your Mom is a very special purrson taking care of ferals & stray kitties. Where we live there are few cats outside and one doesn't know if they are stray or their people just let them outside. The houses are very close together. Mom does not know any of the neighbors. No feral populations anywhere near us. My Mom would feed them too if there were any around. Nothing new here. We are napping & Mom is watching TV and blogging for us. It was a nice day. In the 60's but getting colder tomorrow. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

Mom is not getting another kitty yet because I have a stray cat colony that I take care of. We spay/neuter and return them right where they came from. I will never know how these cats came to camp but some have obviously been born here and therefor the name feral is tagged to them. That word gets much negative and frighting response so I try not to use it much. Never the less. Magellan would have been one of these types of cats because his mommy Tina was. And of course we took her in and therefore Magellan was born to a loving home which he never left. Tina and Magellan are why I do all I can for the other cats that I know who do not have a real home. I could not bring these cats into my home because I had cats but that has not stopped me from visiting them and taming them to whatever extent they were willing. My door is open to whoever decides to come in but our little Kelly will be brought in as she really does not like the cold anymore. I am in a weird custody battle over her though with the women that has given her a nice comfy patio to call home and she lets her inside when she is there. Problem is that she isn't always there and leaves the cats out in the worst part of the winter. They have been doing this and we have provided them with food, water and shelter but our little Kelly has really decided that she likes being a house cat and I have decided that she will like living with me......... There is much more to this story and I'll continue later.

Hey Angel Magellan!
We certainly understand the grieving period. It is a very long time before one stops looking for their kitty in the favorite places and stop waiting for them to greet you at the door. Hoping Goldie's paw will be okay. Also hope Mom gets other kitties to help heal her heart. leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses, anderson

Magellan was the perfect cat. He has been physically gone for three weeks and I am still crying and very sad. It is comforting to have many beautiful photo's of him and story's to tell and remember. We had Magellan all of his life and I loved him from day one. He became the only kitten in the litter that actually showed us he was staying. He loved our Golden Retriever Shelby. His cat mommy Tina really needed him too. Magellan was there for me when Shelby and Tina died. Magellan was showered with love and attention this past year as he was our only pet. I enjoyed a very stress less year with him because he was so perfect and healthy. I really would have liked that to continue for a longer time but I now know just how difficult it is to make that decision to end the suffering and avoid the suffering. Guess I'll be crying a while longer this time awaiting some kind of peace. And I am looking forward to the task of bringing our little stray Kelly in for the winter but this can not be done until January 2014. Although, I visit her daily at her outside home where her temporary caregiver will still let her in from the cold while she is there. Goldie, who is a bit wilder and not ready to come in has a sore foot. He did let me pull a tick off of him the other day and pet him a little but I was not able to get him to stay long enough to get a real good look at the foot. Prayers please and thank you for all the tender comments of understanding while I am going through a difficult grieving period.

Come visit me, Vicki, Tina, Izy & Magellan.

Hey Angel Magellan!
Sounds like Mom is healing. It is very hard adjusting to the loss of a precious kitty but sadly their lives are much shorter and a lucky human can have several special kitties in their life. We hope & pray that your Mom will soon have another kitty to win her heart. These things take time but it will happen. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty kisses. anderson
