WINSTONS WISDOM! Happy 4th. 95* today THE TELL-TALE TAIL: The very expressive tail is the easiest part of your cats anatomy to read. It's right out there for the World to see and it's movements tend to be pretty straight forward--once you know the clues. WAGGING: Dogs wag their tails to express happiness, but with cats it is a much different story. A wagging feline tail means your cat is in conflict about something. Maybe she senses the approach of a threat and is wrestling with the question: "Should I stand and fight or should I get out of here?" Unlike a dog, who'd be disappointed if you didn't respond to it's wagging tail, cats appreciate being left alone so they can devote their full attention to scanning their enviroment for clues that will help them make up their minds. So, do her a favor and don't cloud her airwaves with a lot of human static until she begins to exhibit more accepting body language. HORIZONTAL LASHING: This is a tail that means business--ignore it and your cat is likely to reinforce her point with fang and claw. The angry tail usually starts out slowly and builds in intensity as the degree of the cats aggrevation rises. Sometimes she'll thump it against the ground or a convenient object, another signal that's she's about to reach her boiling point. If her hair begins to bristle, she's about to pop her cork. Your cat is telling you that something is bothering him. If it's something you're doing, he's giving you fair warning to stop. If it's inspired by another cat, the fur may be about to fly. Anger often goes paw in paw with fear, so this tail could also be telegraphing that your cat is frightened. Take a careful inventory of his enviroment, and that includes you, and remove the cause. Tomorrow: the High & Straight tail. ConCATulations to our COTD Trouble & Mitzi, please paw by and paw your congrats today!Come visit me, *Kelsee* ~~MHL:KCK~~I ♥ Snick~~, * K-Winston*~I ♥ Brina~MHL: TIMs~, Kali~~ENGAGED to ELVIS~~*I said YES*, WINSTON'S PIZZERIA~*since 2008*, Jesse~~MHL:OC~~I ♥ Tweetie~~, Angel Shadow~~I ♥ A. Zenyatta I am named after the West Coast super filly in 2009; she might even become Horse of the Year. My Mom likes to name us kitties after horses if they have neat names and hse likes them. I am pretty special too because I'm a silver smoke Bengal - not too common!Come visit me, Curlin, Charisma, Alydar, Calliope, Guepard, Sarischka, Zenyatta & Maxim.
