josie goes to tate's page so i will come to ur's our shadowfoot got a real bad 1 1/2 cut on his right back leg and all the muscle tissue and the tendons were exposed so momma got him to the vet right away sat. morning. and they had to stitch it up and cause of the exposure they said it was very probable to infection so they kept him till yesterday afternoon. said he probably got his leg hung and tore it pullin it out could have fallen and hit his leg on something when he landed. but he is doing good

What’s mew with you? We learned an interesting fact from our 2011 Cat Fancy calendar. Did you know that compared to people, we kitties have about twice as many smell receptors in our nasal passages? But we cannot taste sugar. We can, however, detect sour, bitter, and salty tastes. We can even “taste” water. I guess that is why we prefer bottled Kentwood water in our fountain & Dixie cup in the bathtub, although we won’t drink from our Drinkwell fountain if it’s running. We are weird like that! Purrsonally, I like Mommy to make the bathtub faucet drip, so I can drink water from it. What is your favorite way to drink water?

Did your mama get camera? Before she got good phone, mama used Vivtar camera from drugstore. Our baba took photography classes, and now she cannot remember how camera works. is it sad? Our Skywalk Adventure has begun ...
What a pleasure to see so many of you waiting to board the planes and head for the Canyon Skywalk. Each of you was promised a window “seat”, and so it shall be, however, the “seats” are actually kitty beds with room for housemates and friends with whom to share this special time. You have settled in and we have been given clearance to head for the departure area. The tower tells us we are “cleared for takeoff” and we lift into the early morning sky. As we turn towards the Canyon, suddenly there are soft cries of delight and then exclamations of joy as our angels join us. These are magic pink planes, after all. The day ahead will be one to hold close to our hearts forever.
We cruise clear skies, enjoying the flight, the companionship, the sense of adventure, and then, at last, we are approaching the Skywalk landing strip after cruising 500 feet above the top of the Grand Canyon walls nearly the full length of that awesome natural wonder. The silence in the cabin was broken only by the clicking of camera shutters as we passed over the area. Some of you were surprised to learn the canyon BOTTOM is at sea level and the area where we will land is actually at 6,000 ft ASL. That’s “above sea level” for you non-pilots. The colors are a veritable artist’s palette; reds of every imaginable shade, golds, blues, even white; each layer tells a story of its own. Eons ago, this area was an unbroken plain in every direction. Rainwater drew pathways through the turf, cutting down until it began to wear away the layers of stone. A river was cut, with tributaries running off every which way. The early morning shadows give the view so much dimension.
We arrive at last. When we touched down, you all scampered out of the plane and onto the see-through Skywalk with such enthusiasm, then slid to a stop to look down, down, down; a mile down. It was pretty impressive, but not a problem for cats, as we love those high places. The sound of little cat feet was all we heard for a time as you moved around the horseshoe-shaped Skywalk, and soaked up the beauty spread before you for as far as even a cat’s eye could see. I could almost hear the memories being stored away in your minds as you took it all in.
After several more hours, we headed back to the planes.
The late afternoon shadows seemed to wave farewell as we departed the area and headed for home. After a light onboard snack, many of you dozed off, having missed your accustomed catnaps. As you dozed, your angels touched you gently with a kiss and a promise of reunion someday. The sun had dropped below the horizon and God’s hand drew the night sky into place, a myriad of stars scattered across it. Our angels rose to join them, adding their light to the glory above. Each one of you was gently returned to your home as we passed it (these are magic planes after all) and may awaken thinking you dreamed it all. But we know better, don’t we? Thank you for sharing the adventure.

How was your weekend? We enjoyed a nice one, but now today it is thunderstormy☂ with big winds, lots of rain and some hail. We are under a Tornado Watch until 6:00 p.m. Hopefully †, we won’t blow away. This morning it was 83 degrees and tonight it’s supposed to be 41 degrees. Quite a change! Springtime✿ here in southwest Mississippi brings lots of bad storms for us.

During the bad weather, we are all staying close to Nana while Mommy is at work. Sissy and I are snuggled in our beds while scaredy Casper Todd sleeps in Nana’s lap in her recliner. He really does not like thunder or loud noises and he gets extra clingy during bad weather.

Keeping everyone in these storms path in our prayers. Stay safe and have a meow-velous Monday.

Skywalk Adventure Checklist ...
… tomorrow is the big day … weather permitting … and the forecast looks good. We will head for the Grand Canyon and that marvelous new Skywalk. You will not need to bring much … a bit of sunscreen for your nose, as the sun is very intense there; a camera to record the awesome beauty; and, yes, you may bring your best buddies with you. One last thing … you MUST bring your sense of adventure, as this will be an incredible experience. We anticipate an on-time early morning departure. And now … your pilot Cherish must get busy with preflight activities. See you in the morning.

The Grand Canyon trip ...
... will be an amazing one. In addition to doing the new skywalk, we will make some low-and-slow passes over much of the canyon itself. To give you an idea of what the skywalk part of the adventure will be like, here is a URL for you to copy/paste into your browser.
