Nicknames: Sweet Potato

Age: 23 years old

Education: Kitkat survived her early years as a barn cat and was a great mouser. She lived to be over 21 years old. She was a polydactyl who had extra toes on all four feet. She walked in a "criss-cross" pattern due to her large feet. She not only had extra toes, she had extra joints in her feet.

Her sister, Blackie, was her best friend and crossed the Bridge at approximately age 16. Her photo is among KitKat's photos below.

My favorite tricks and treats are: Retired and Chicken and tuna

Where I hang out: She loved to lie in the sunshine almost anywhere. Later on, she loved to sleep on her blanket with a heated corn bag underneath it

My favorite grubs: Canned food, tuna and chicken

My pet peeves: Being handled a lot

What I love about my owners: She loved me enough to make my life easier when I grew older

How We Met

KitKat was born in a barn and spent her early years as a barn cat. Later on when I took over her care, I started bringing her inside to eat, etc. and she started staying inside more and. Eventually, she stayed inside full time, enjoying her golden years in comfort.
KitKat crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 9/13/2010 at 11:15 AM, following a lengthy illness. Our good friend Gin Gin and Mom Mary sent us this beautiful poem and we're making it a furever part of KitKat's profile--

Ode to a Queen
(for KitKat)

What regal posture,
my beautiful furchild,
with your head held high
and your ears on alert.
A queen in a fur disguise.

What courage you showed
to give yourself over
to the touch of a human
who brought you in
from the cold.

You shone like the sun
in your golden years,
dear KitKat, warmed always
by your soft blanket and
the love in your heart.

A Funny Story from England
A woman has claimed that sightings of a "lion"--which sparked an extensive search by Essex Police--were of her large pet cat, Teddy Bear. A search for the "very large animal" seen in St. Osyth, near Clacton-on-Sea, on Sunday was called off on Monday. Ginny Murphy said her ginger Maine Coon cat, the largest domestic breed, regularly wanders into the field where the animal was spotted. She said she believes Teddy Bear was mistaken for a lion by holidaymakers. A search by police was triggered on Sunday evening when people staying at a caravan park reported sightings of "a very large animal" near Earl Hall Drive. Experts from Colchester Zoo and police firearms officers helped in the search. Police decided to call off the search after no trace of a big cat was found and they said the sightings were either of a large domestic cat or wildcat. Ms Murphy, of St. Osyth, said: "From the picture, he's identical-- he's big, he's always out in the fields. "Maine Coons like to hunt, and where he was is a particular area he likes to go. He's always coming back with birds." Her three-year-old pet is about 28in (70cm) in length. Gill and Steve Atkin, of Louth, Lincolnshire, photographed an animal in the field on Sunday afternoon. Mr Atkin had told police it was "definitely a very large animal, and possibly a lion, definitely a large cat". He added: "We witnessed it, I would say, for about 20 to 30 minutes cleaning itself and rolling about in the field." Speaking to the BBC on Tuesday, Mrs Atkin said: "The Mirror [newspaper] has made a bit of a farce of it this morning, saying it was a cat called Tom, but no, I don't think it was a domestic cat. "Whatever it was, it's definitely still out there." The first reported sighting was made by holidaymaker Bob Martin, who said he and his wife Denise saw a large cat and a lion "was the first thing that came to mind". "We believe we saw a large cat looking at a tree...it just sat there looking at us," he said. Essex Police have not released any details of the cost of the search, but have said about 25 officers were called to where the animal was seen, including specialist firearms officers and experts from Colchester Zoo. Two police helicopters, one with thermal imaging equipment, were also used to try to detect any trace of an animal. (Story from BBC News)

THANK YOU TO ALL!
Mom had a blog all ready for today about some breed of cat, but I told her it could wait until tomorrow. Right now, I want to take a moment to thank every one of you for supporting me throughout the month of September. For all of you who put me in their tag lines, I thank you. For all of you who visited every single day, I thank you! For Boo Kitty and Mom Jane, a special thank you for the beautiful pictures they have made for me. For Simba and the BHG, a special thank you for taking time to come by every day when we know that your Mom has trouble using the computer. (That goes for many of you!) For Spongie and his Mom, who visited daily even though Mom Lynn is in constant pain—not only Thank You, but also Prayers that your pain will soon be cured, Lynn. To Duchess’ family, who took time yesterday to vote even though they were mourning their beautiful boy Tom who had crossed the Bridge. And of course, to King Sammy for writing such interesting blogs about Library cats during his campaign and reign! Honestly, I could just go on and on, but there really are too many special kitties and not enough room. Know that every one of you is special, and I love you all!

Congratulations today to Angel Frosty for winning her ACOTD Badge. Celebrating a birthday today is SEBASTIEN #143982. Happy Birthday, Sebastien! Observing their crossing anniversaries are MOE #149380 (6 yrs.) and GINNY #28404 (2 yrs.). Please let them know they are not forgotten.

Manx/Cymric/Tasman
The Manx is a breed of cat with a naturally occurring mutation that shortens the tail, resulting in a range of tail lengths from normal to tailless. Many Manx have a small 'stub' of a tail, but Manx cats are best known as being entirely tailless; the distinguishing characteristic of the breed. The Manx is a shorthaired breed, while the Cymric is identical to the Manx in all ways apart from having a long coat. The Manx breed originated before the 1700s on the Isle of Man (hence the name), where they are common. They are called stubbin in the Manx language. Tailless cats were common on the island as long as three hundred years ago. Folk beliefs claim the Manx Cats came from the Spanish Armada; a ship foundered on Spanish Rock on the coast of the Isle of Man. According to legend, the cats on the ship swam ashore and became an established breed. The Manx tailless gene is dominant and many breeders mate tailless to tailed cats to avoid problems associated with kittens that inherit two copies of the gene, one from either parent. The hind legs of a Manx are longer than the front legs, creating a continuous arch from shoulders to rump giving the cat a rounded appearance. Manx kittens are classified according to tail length: Rumpy--no tail (This is the ideal show cat) Riser or rumpy riser--stub of cartilage or several vertebrae under the fur, most noticeable when kitten is happy and raising its 'tail' Stumpy--partial tail, more than a 'riser' but less than 'tailed' Tailed or longy--complete or near complete tail. The Manx has a double coat with a thick, short under-layer and a longer, coarse outer-layer with guard hairs. The Cymric, known to some cat registries as the long-haired Manx, has a silky-textured double coat of medium length, with britches, belly and neck ruff, tufts of fur between the toes and full ear furnishings. The latest addition to this trio of sister breeds is the Tasman Rex and Tasman Manx. They form a breed group newly recognized by in New Zealand by the NZCF. Curly coated kittens began showing up in purebred Manx litters in New Zealand and test mating to Devon and Cornish Rex showed that this was a new recessive gene. The lines trace back to an outcross to a Persian from the UK, and Rexed Persians have been observed in some UK lines but not explored. Breeding continues in NZ and breeders are pursuing breed progression. (information courtesy rarecatbreeds.com)

Russian Black, White and Tabby cats
The Russian Black, White and Tabby cats derived from the Russian Blue, so they basically have the same physical characteristics with the only difference being in the coat color. The Russians are gentle and affectionate cats that will never get bored entertaining you and your family. They do not, however, tend to be destructive like some other breeds. The Russians are intelligent, quiet and sensitive. They can easily learn how to open doors, closets, and drawers, so if you have one of these wonderful cats, don’t be surprised to find things open that you would swear you had closed. They can also train their people to perform simple tasks such as throwing toys so that the Russians can retrieve them. Loyal and devoted, the Russians make really good companions for your entire family. The coat of the Russians is soft, plush, silky and dense. It has clear tipping that gives the coat an overall lustrous sheen. The undercoat is fine and downy. Little grooming is necessary. The names of the three breeds suggest the coat color specific of a particular cat. The Russian Cats are hearty and healthy cats. With proper diet, exercise, veterinary care and affection, they can live well into their teens and beyond. (Information found at mysmelly.com)

Russet Burmese, a rare new color of Burmese
Russet is the name that has currently (not necessarily permanently) been given to a new color pattern which has popped up in a line of Seal Burmese in New Zealand. As kittens russets look rather like tabbies. However, they have pink noses and pads, pale muzzles, pale fur around the pads and genitalia and a pale tail-tip - all these areas are dark in tabbies. Also, as younger kittens the back is more solidly dark then ticked, changing to pale ivory about halfway down the flanks, and the area around the eyes and the muzzle are also ivory. The back develops a more ticked appearance in older kittens, and the face also turns reddish at this stage. As they mature they turn much redder, the reddest of them is quite similar to a red Burmese. However, unlike red, this color doesn't appear to be sex linked, but to be inherited as a recessive. There are clear similarities to the new amber color in Norwegian Forest Cats, particularly in the progression to reddish adult coloring. However, there are also significant differences. Ambers have dark nose leathers and pads – these are pink in russets. Non-agouti ambers are very dark as young kittens (somewhat similar to smokes rather than tabbies), and have a dark face which is the last part to go red. Russets are born with off-white faces (color probably influenced by the Burmese gene), which are the first, not the last part of the cat to go red. They also have distinct tabby-like pale undersides as kittens, which ambers don’t. The change to red seems slower in russets than ambers, which change within the first few months. However, that could just be the result of different timing of major moults in cats born at different times of year (Information from rarecatbreeds.com) NOTE—I tried to find more information on this new color/breed of Burmese, but it is very hard to come by. These cats are very rare.

Congratulations to Puff #212387 on being today’s COTD. Isn’t she gorgeous? Today’s SHOUT-OUT is for SUEZEE KNIGHT #11528. Suezee is one of the “quiet” Knight kitties so she doesn’t get much attention. Let’s change that! There are no birthdays, adoption anniversaries or crossing anniversaries today, but many kitties need prayers. Stop by the CMR #46883 for the list in the CMR Newsletter. Hugs, Leo and the Zoos

Ocicat--a wild look in a lovable housecat!
The first Ocicat was the unexpected result of an experimental breeding in the USA over 40 years ago between an Abyssinian and a Siamese. The addition of the American shorthair to the original mix has provided genetic diversity, giving us the beautiful and robust Ocicat. Ocicats are not prone to any genetic diseases. The Ocicat has been bred specifically to look like a wild cat with its fabulous spotted sleek coat, rippling muscles, strong body and good solid build. The Ocicat is so named because of its resemblance to an Ocelot, but no wild blood has been used to produce this beautiful animal. While the Ocicat looks wild, its temperament is anything but ferocious. They are a beautiful, wild looking cat with the best domestic cat personality, very active and ready to play, but willing to purr on your lap too. The Ocicat is confident as well as dedicated to its owners. The Ocicat has the predictable temperament and the personality of a highly intelligent domestic cat, with the beauty and allure of a wild cat. Their personalities and temperaments are predictable and loving - they make a wonderful addition to any household. They generally adapt readily to most situations, including children and other pets. The Ocicat is a large, active cat with an athletic appearance. It is a very solidly built cat with a short, tight coat. The satin sheen shows off muscles and spots to their best advantage. The pattern on the coat is very special. The spots are like a thumbprint, and the bigger the spots the better! The Ocicat coat comes in many beautiful colors, all of which are also repeated in the ‘silver’ series where the spots are highlighted on a silver background. Accepted colors are chocolate spotted, tawny spotted, cinnamon spotted, blue spotted, lavender spotted, fawn spotted, chocolate spotted silver, cinnamon spotted silver, blue spotted silver, lavender spotted silver, black spotted silver and fawn spotted silver. The Ocicat has become extremely popular in USA,Europe and England and is now available in Australia. Once you have met and come to know an Ocicat and all it has to offer, you will understand their wonderful appeal. The Ocicat provides the best of both worlds - it looks like a wild cat with its fabulous spotted sleek coat, rippling muscles, strong body and good solid build, but it is no threat to the family dog!! Australian Mist, a beautiful breed of cat
The Australian Mist was developed by Dr Truda Straede in Australia beginning in 1976. The breed was developed by crossing the Burmese, Abyssinian, and Domestic shorthair cats to create a shorthaired cat with a spotted coat. The name was changed from 'Spotted Mist' to 'Australian Mist' in 1998 when cats with marbled coats, rather than spots, were accepted as part of the breed. Australian Mists are medium-sized, shorthaired cats, with a round head and large, expressive eyes. The coat patterns have three levels of definition; (1) a ground color, paler than pattern; (2)a delicate pattern, distinct from ground color; (3) the pattern makes the cat appear to be wearong a misted veil, caused by random ticking in the solid color areas. The legs and tail are ringed or barred, and the face and neck also have delicate lines of color. They make perfect pets for children of all ages, even very young ones. They are tolerant of handling, and are not inclined to scratch. As kittens they are lively, but they sober up a little on maturity. Their life expectancy is in the mid to late teens. Australian Mists thrive on human contact, making them happy to remain indoors. Some Mists can be trained to go for walks on a lead. Their tendency to crawl into the nearest lap with or without invitation and to constantly hang around to see what people are up to makes them excellent companions for people who work from home and those house bound due to illness or disability. Spayed and neutered cats and kittens fit in easily with all sorts of cats and dogs. Selective breeding has further enhanced these qualities, creating a truly companionable pet. Australian Mists will quickly become a member of the family. (information from Wikipedia.org)

Khao Manee--GORGEOUS!
For most people in the US or Europe a 'Siamese' cat is the famous seal point with their wedge shaped head and blue eyes. But in their native Siam it is the Khao Manee 'White Jewel', sometimes known as the Khao Plort ('All White') which is the most popular and celebrated of the traditional breeds and recent research has uncovered that they, not the seal point, were the true Royal Cats of Old Siam. The Khao Manee which can be identified by their pure white fur and eyes of differing colors. Theyf are among the most exotic and interesting of all cats. Some have pairings of one blue and one emerald green eye, while others have blue and yellow pairings and are sometimes called "Gold & Silver Eyes". Some have both blue, both yellow or both green eyes. It is only recently that the genetic mutations that produce the diamond eye have been understood. The Khao Manees' popularity goes back many years. The Tamra Maew or Cat Book of Poems (1350 - 1767), the ancient Siamese treatise on cats, describes it as: a “completely white cat, eyes of clear mercury, this cat if in any house, brings long life and title, material wealth coming in with no decrease will be entertained with all things in happiness.” They were a particular favorite of Rama V, one of Siam's greatest Kings, who bred and fixed the type, and were closely guarded in the royal palace. The penalty (so legend has it) for a commoner stealing one was death. They all have a marvelous temperament, and show great trust in humans. If given love and proper care they make excellent pets. (thanks to yabz.com for this information)

Singapura, a good thing in a small package
Even the smallest feline is a masterpiece, said Leonardo da Vinci. The Singapura is evidence of that truth. Known for being the smallest of the domestic cats (four to seven pounds), this one-time Singapore street cat is considered a living national treasure by that nation-state’s government. They are noted for their big ears; big eyes in hazel, green or yellow; a small muscular body; and a short, ivory-colored background coat with brown ticking that gives them the appearance of having stepped out of a sepia-toned photo. Nicknamed the Pura, this cat is impish, inquisitive, intelligent and full of energy. They may be little, but they are a powerhouse, leaping to high places—including your shoulder—and supervising everything that goes on in the home. When not running along the top of the bookshelf or chasing after a toy, they are seeking out a lap where they can relax. The Singapura is an extrovert and can usually get along with everyone, including other cats, friendly dogs and well-behaved children. The Pura’s short coat is easy to groom with weekly brushing. Trim the nails and clean the ears as needed. The Singapura is well suited to any home with people who will love him and care for him. Keep them indoors to protect them from cars, diseases spread by other cats and attacks from other animals. The Singapura is a natural breed and is not outcrossed to any other breeds. They are a tiny cat and do not reach their full size of five to eight pounds until they are about two years old. The Singapura comes in only one color, brown ticked agouti, described as dark brown ticking against a yellowish ivory background. Looking out at the world are eyes of celadon green, hazel, gold or copper with dark mascara markings and facial lines. On the forehead the Singapura is marked with the tabby M shape. Today we learn about the Munchkin
The Munchkin cat has been developed purely as an oddity and is the first short-legged feline to be taken seriously as a breed. Critics of this breed (and they are many) point out that, apart from its lack of lithe feline grace, it has great difficulty in grooming itself and also runs the risk of suffering from premature aging of its unnaturally long spine. The critics feel that it is unlikely that this breed will ever obtain wide popularity as a pedigree show cat. Munchkins are self-assured, curious, confident and outgoing cats. It is a breed seemingly unhampered by their unique genetic make-up. They are amusing to watch, very social and outgoing and playful. In spite of their short legs, they can run very fast, with climbing not posing any problems for these agile cats. They are easily trained to walk on a harness. They are said to be the eternal kitten, a friendly and playful cat which never loses its kitten characteristics. Naturally, with such short legs, movement will be somewhat restricted compared to normal legged cats, especially jumping and climbing, but they are quite able to jump up onto chairs like any other cat. It is actually a dwarf rather than a miniature cat, with the long bones of the legs being shorter than that of a normal cat. They do not breed true; that is, they do not consistently breed short-legged kittens. Litters of kittens born to either a male or female are, on average, half short-legged. These are the true Munchkins. The long-legged offspring are non-standard and do not possess the Munchkin gene. Because of their appealing characteristics, including good head type, temperament and conformation, long-legged offspring are often used in breeding programs. However most are found in homes as pets. They look like any ordinary cat, except for its dwarf-like legs which are similar to the legs of a Dachshund, and are also slightly bowed. Unlike the Dachshund though, the Munchkin has been found to suffer from no spinal abnormalities and is said to be no more prone to skeletal problems than any normal long-legged cat. Munchkins can be either shorthaired or longhaired and the semi-longhaired Munchkin has a weatherproof coat of a shaggy appearance. It is a medium sized breed, which looks smaller than it actually is because of its short legs. The body is solid and rounded and must not be too slender or cobby. The head is the shape of an equilateral triangle, with medium sized ears and large walnut shaped eyes. The legs are only about half the size of the ordinary cat’s legs, with the elbows held higher; these should lie close to the ribcage. The hind legs are slightly longer than the front legs. (Information via woofahs.com)

It originated in the USA with the intention of closely resembling the wild African Serval, but without introducing the wildcat genes. The Serengeti was first created in 1994 by an American breeder, Karen Sausman at her Kingsmark breeding cattery in California. This generated a certain amount of interest amongst breeders and in 1995 a breeding program was launched. The Serengeti gained preliminary recognition with TICA in 2002, allowing it to be shown at TICA shows. The Serengeti should appear as a graceful, statuesque, squarely built cat in gleaming physical condition, strong and muscular. It is a large boned breed and most cats have distinguishing features of a clear yellowy gold coat with a widely spaced random black spotted pattern, very long legs and a long neck, and huge round-tipped ears held very upright on top of the head that usually have what are known as ‘ocelli’ (eye spots) on the backs. Less common is a grey coat with black spots, bright silver with black spots or even a solid black with ghost tracings of spots showing. The short coat is always quite dense with a soft feel to it. The large round eyes are normally amber to gold, although hazel to light green is acceptable. Because of the bone conformation, the Serengeti gives the impression of sitting in a very upright position, and in size it resembles that of a large Oriental Shorthair rather than a Bengal, with males weighing between 10-15 lbs., and females slightly less. Serengetis are confident and friendly, and should get on well with other family pets. They are very active, loving to climb and play and rushing about at top speed and jumping on and off things in their way. Despite the high level of activity, the Serengeti is a very people-orientated breed that loves almost constant interaction with their human family, often following their chosen favorite around the home. Although they are fairly vocal and love to chat, their voices are not as loud or strident as their Oriental forebears. They are happy as indoor cats, as they tend to connect with people rather than the environment. Being large and active, they need a reasonable amount of space to move around in. The Serengeti is generally a very healthy breed of cat with no breed-specific health problems detected, and should live well into their mid teens. Kittens should always be purchased from a reputable breeder. If they are allowed outdoors, wildlife trophies may well be brought home for their owners to admire. The coat of the Serengeti is short and sleek and needs minimum grooming. (Information courtesy puppylovers.net)

More curly ears in the Highlander Cat
The origins of the Highlander cat that is on registry today go back to a litter of Highland Lynx kittens that were born in 1995. This litter was the result of breeding a Jungle Curl cat and a Desert Lynx, both wild cat hybrids. Over the years, these cats have been cross-bred with other Curl breeds as well as other Jungle cats to obtain the Highland breed that is registered with TICA today. The most predominant feature of the Highlander cat is its ears. Highlander kittens are born with straight ears, however, in the first few days after birth their ears begin to curl, giving them a unique feature. The Highlander can be short or long haired and has a large, muscular body. Male Highlander cats can weigh upwards of 20 pounds, while female Highlander cats are typically smaller, weighing between 10 to 14 pounds. The Highlander cat is known for being very friendly and playful. They are very inquisitive and develop deep bonds with their families. Highlander cats are very strong and intelligent. Toys purchased for your cat should be durable and sturdy to prevent the cat from taking it apart and possibly consuming a part of the toy that could injure it. Even though the Highlander cat has ties to wild cat hybrids, they require no special dietary requirements or medical care. Providing routine veterinary checkups and a healthy diet of high quality cat food as you would with any cat breed will suffice. (Information from eHow.com)

Please stop by and congratulate Button #235770 on winning his COTD Badge. Congratulations, Button!! There is no campaign scheduled for today so please vote for all your favorites, including HOPSING #9810 who is celebrating a birthday today, and RAMBO #154725, who is observing his 3rd crossing anniversary today. Thanks, everyone!! Hugs, Leo and the Zoos

Love your new frame! Very nice. We are glad the Rainbow Bridge is such a wonderful place since we all will go there at some point. Late start again today. Seems when Mom is off work, she does everything else before going to CC to answer our blogs. Days she works, she starts on CC at home before leaving for work, blogs from 7 to 8 AM and during her lunch hour. Strange how that works! Will have to adddress that with her! Hope all is well. American Curl--what cute ears you have!
The American Curl is a highly distinctive cat with elegant, wispy ears that curl backwards in a graceful arc, creating an alert, sophisticated look similar to that of a wild lynx. Kittens of this breed are born with straight ears. Within 4 or 5 days, however, their ears begin to curl back in a tight rosebud formation. Gradually, they unfurl, reaching their permanent shape by about 16 weeks of age. The degree of ear curl varies widely within the breed. Fanciers prefer a more dramatic curl for the show ring, while straighter-eared specimens are typically considered to be pet-quality. Some kittens in American Curl litters never develop the curly-eared trait. This breed is medium-sized, comes in a variety of colors and may be either long or short-haired. The coat is silky and lies flat, with little-to-no undercoat, and little shedding. The tail of the American Curl is fluffy and fan-like, said to resemble a feather boa. It should be brushed regularly. In addition to its unique ears, the American Curl has an extraordinary disposition. People-oriented, playful, faithful and highly affectionate, these cats remain kitten-like well into adulthood, and usually throughout their lives. They are remarkably adaptable to new situations and are not easily stressed. American Curls adjust to almost any type of household, are gentle with children and get along extremely well with most other cats and with dogs. They are rarely territorial and typically can be introduced into a home with established pets with relative ease, as they tend to be very respectful of other animals. American Curls form very close bonds with their primary caretakers. Owners can expect their Curls to follow them from room to room throughout the house - and sometimes, even into the shower. They demand plenty of personal cuddle-time and one-on-one attention. This is an easy-going breed that is eager to please. American Curls are moderately active, and is an especially personable cat. They like to relax in high places – such as on the very top of book shelves or kitchen cabinets – and they have a fondness for gently patting their people on the eyelids or eye-glasses with their soft, fluffy paws. They also like to lick their owner’s hair and give kitty-kisses on the face. Curls are not especially vocal, but of course they purr and make trill-like cooing sounds when happy or particularly pleased. They have a very soft, chirp-like meow and only “talk” on an occasional basis. American Curls are curious and quite comical, earning them the nickname “the Peter Pan of felines.” (Information from Petwave.com)

Our congratulations go out today to Corey #198504 for winning his first COTD Badge. Way to go, Corey! Today we ask that you stop by and leave a vote for another deserving kitty, Button #235770. Let’s help Button get his badge tomorrow. There are no special birthdays or anniversaries being celebrated today, but we hope everyone celebrates anyway! Hugs, Leo and the Zoos

~Monday meows from the NICE Crew~
You're very welcome for the vote & catgrats for your shout-out sweet furiend! We're very happy that things worked out so well :)

This is Fluffers running by at top speed today as I try to keep up with Trixie! We've been playing every day now that she's accepted that fact that I'm in to stay. Only problem is that mom & dad say we need to quit playing at midnight...MOL! They were working or rearranging our activity times all weekend so last night all of the NICE crew were sound asleep by 10pm. We were wide awake & ready for the day to begin by 5am so mom is hoping we'll stick to that schedule or she says we may have to find somewhere besides their bedroom to sleep. That would be almost as traumatic to me as shutting their door on me was yesterday! Yep you read right...they shut me out! Mom says I need to explore the house & the world more instead of hiding in my sanctuary room so I was forced to stay out of it for nearly 2 hours! I only got very nervous a couple of times so ran to mom when that happened but other than that I guess it wasn't too bad, even though I did get a good whack by Patches when I grabbed her tail & bit it. OOPS...MOL! Lesson learned the hard way. Mom says I act a LOT like Trixie did at this age. I've tried climbing a couple of walls, found the shelves around the living room walls & also discovered kitchen cabinets. I can't open them yet but Trixie does so I'm just following her lead. I think she can teach me a lot but mom has warned her not to teach me anything bad or we'll both be in trouble. Look at me...do I look like I'd cause trouble? Teehee...as mom says...looks can be deceiving! Well got to go because Trixie just cycloned through the house heading to the family room & chirped at me. That means it's playtime...woohoo!!

Sweet purrs & an apple dumpling filled vote in honor of National Apple Dumpling day!
