On December 14, 2014, the Hairballz Rainbow Riders celebrated their 3rd Anniversary with the Show of the Century on FB. I broke the World's Record for the Tunnel of Fire at 204 feet in length! I retired from the HRR on 5/18/15.

My favorite tricks and treats are: I will play fetch, retrieving the ball to my pawrents. I don't get bored because I have many tricks I do all by myself and My favorite treat is vanilla mice cream.

Where I hang out: If it is cold, I like to lie under the lamp in my pawrent's bedroom. Other than that I have a favorite couch in the living room (Mama's couch). I will also lie on the back of the other couch and look out the window. Also there is a front window where I can lie and watch the birds take dust baths.

My favorite grubs: Friskies Ocean Whitefish and Tuna Dinner Classic Pate for canned; I like Friskies Surfin' & Turfin' Favorites for dry food.

My pet peeves: I don't like to be ignored and I don't like it when dinner is late.

What I love about my owners: My Daddy is so patient with me. My Mama gives me treats a lot. They both just lavish love over me. My food bowl is always full and my litter box is clean. When it came time for me to cross the Rainbow Bridge, my pawrents loved me enough to make that most loving and humane decision to help me cross over. I will love them forever.

My cat hobbies: I like to curl up with my pawrents under the covers. Whatever Mama is eating, I will take a bite. Now, I enjoy helping out my new brofur, Mason, to learn the ropes and all my tricks for Mama and Daddy.

Pet motto: Every day is a good day with a Bombay!

How We Met

A friend of ours was driving down the road and he saw a box on the side of the road. He got out to look and it contained a dead mother cat and some dead babies. One little black cat sat still and looked at him without meowing. Our friend scooped him up and brought him to my husband and said, "This is for your wife." He had one little handful of baby kitten. And that's how we became Malachi's earthly guardians. As far as "owner", Malachi is the owner of us.

On St. Padraig's Day Malachi takes on the name of Mael Sechlainn O'Rourke.

Hi Angel K. Malachi and family!
We'll keep your dear Mom in our prayers my dear BFF. We hope she went to see the doctor today. A kidney stone is very serious! When your dear Mom is up to it, let us know how she is doing. We're sending lots of pawsitive thoughts and healing prayers to her.
Our neighbor Abarna is doing great. Mom is still taking Abarna out for strolls in her wheelchair, but sometime this week, Abarna is going to start using her walker. Abarna has a doctor appointment today, so if her doctor gives her a good bill of health, they can start walking. K. Uncle Buddy Budd suggested once to us that indoor shopping malls are a good place for wheel chairs, so Mom thought it would be a great place for walkers too. (CC furiends have the best ideas!) At least the ground will be smoother (and safer!). Although, I don’t think Mom can take a cat stroller into a mall. MOL! That’s okay- way too many noisy humans there for our liking. Plus we like our rides on the bumpy walking trail. :)

My sisters and I are doing fine. The weather is just right, in the low 80’s, so we’re all catnapping in the backyard. It has started to get kind of chilly in the mornings, but the weatherman said we’re expecting some more 90 degree temps this weekend. Summer isn’t over yet!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

“I love them, they are so nice and selfish. Dogs are TOO good and unselfish. They make me feel uncomfortable. But cats are gloriously human.” =^.^= - L.M. Montgomery

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
I hope that the ideas and suggestions that I’ve presented during the month have proven helpful. I want to especially thank those of you who took the time to send me ideas that I could share with our friends.
This has been a remarkable month for me and my family.
You’ve sent me so many votes, so many kind words and wishes, so much love. When I was little more than a kitten, (it was back in the day of the shout out COTD catpaigns.) I was nominated for COTD, and as I sat with dad that evening he read me the notes that kitties had sent along with their votes. I kind of got a vision of what was happening and Pete asked me what I was thinking.
This is what I told him; “I just had a vision of what is happening tonight, Pete. Kitties and their families from all over the world are reading about me and sending me votes. What is a vote? Well, it’s easy to think that it’s just a click on a computer, but I think it’s much more. In my mind’s eye I see the world as though I’m looking at it from space. The whole world is a beautiful orb, with no lines marking off the different countries. I see the votes as little yellow scrolls tied with a bit golden ribbon. They seem to be floating up toward me from individual homes. As they rise they join others rising from neighborhoods and the streams of votes from neighborhoods combine to for large streams from cities, and then from states, they flow together to form rivers of sparkling yellow and gold. They make a river of love and caring. Each one is a message of friendship.
The big rivers combine and form rushing torrents of love and goodwill. As the world rotates beneath me I can see that the votes are rising from all over the globe and that powerful rush of love and good will circles the globe and then it all comes rushing down onto our house.
I feel so loved! CC is a very special place and a vote is so much more than just a click.”
All of these years later, I still think your votes are much more than clicks!
My life truly has been blessed. I was rescued by my dad when I was a tiny sick kitten, and I have been loved and nurtured every day of my life. My brother and sisters love me and treat me with kindness and respect. I’ve made many friends here on CC and I met the most wonderful cat in the whole world, my wonderful husband K Whiskers.
I hope with all of my heart that some of the ideas that I’ve presented, can help other kitties to find the kind of life that I have been blessed with. Thank you all so very much!
See you tomorrow evening for a Coronation Celebration.

( by K MacVitie)
The peace and joy you give me, no words can ever tell,
The lessons that you teach me, in my heart will always dwell,
Your purrs bring forth divinity, to comfort, heal and bless,
Wondrous being, praise to you for your gracious loveliness.

sleepover tomorrow night/water fun games wed
it's called a big change before the gridlock of stewed nuts and so forth and on. not looking forwards to all the early morning traffic again, but that's how things work once summer which is now unofficially over well almost next weekend for others, this for most will be and janet will see a big intake of it whenever she walks as it's getting later and later towards rushhour and she hates that but goes out anyways!
we had a nice weekend here at the house warm and not overly hot as yesterday it was actually hotter than today and less humid! now it's up there as you can feel it as well as it being 66. janet turned her fan on last night and hasn't turned it off and won't likely till it cools down unless she decides to give it a rest before she leaves for work, but it's helping to bring in what there is of the cooler air while we have it.
no banking today as the $$$ hasn't gone into the accounts and we'll have to do that on errand day on thursday as it's look-ing like friday is shopping day after all. today it's just go ing to see master for a longer visit as well as stopping at stop and shop unless janet gets it before she leaves for work this morning and remembers to bring it for hbp meds for this month as the other will be another 2 weeks before she has to do that one and this one had a call the dr's office for a new refill on it. janet did sit out and do the beans only after setting out the chaise lounger, then getting in her sheets and pillow cases and bringing them in, and going back out to finish just in time to come in and get supper at 4;30 of baked ham, mashed potato and mixed veggies due that the string beans weren't ready so they're for tonight with some-thing else don't know yet. we have pasta, so maybe ham peas if janet can find them and pasta for a quick salad, who knows? 90 here today tomorrow, wed and thurs, drying out slightly with a chance of boomers thurs/fri/sat and drier too. sandy,ab,haley, angels

praying for a good outcome to the dr's visit today! :)

Yes Mom should get to the doctor tomorrow! Hope he can relieve her pain! Mason has ear trouble too? Poor kitty! Hope it can be fixed for him. We don't like anyone messing with our ears! We had a quiet day. I do not seem to be feeling very well after my Vet visit yesterday. Not eating well and hiding under end tables & behind things. Mom is hoping I will be better tomorrow. She is suppose to be cleaning my ears & putting drops in twice a day but didn't want to traumatize me any more today. We are praying I am back to normal tomorrow. Leaving a healing vote for your sweet Mom & keeping her in our prayers. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Legend

sleepover tues/water fun wed!
honeybunch, we just found out that the coronation is tuesday the first at 7pm at the new resort center. don't know the time frame that's what you'll have to ask her, but we can be there and fly back here afterwards and arrive late, but better late than never and make the sleepover and be here for the waterfun as it's going to be a rollicking very HOT time for sure! don't know if mason and sakura will be doing ahead of us or staying here, as nothing's been said, but we're so enjoying staying on pinto this weekend and my sisters are flying out first thing tomorrow morn-ing on angel air with the angels so she can start cooking and preparing the food and like for the cold buffet we'll have going outside as well as in the garage a twofer as we like to call them.
so comfortable it is here this morning a nice 64 where janet would adore it staying all fall-winter-early spring long, but knows it's not gonna happen so will have to take what we get when we get it. only chances of any rain is a very slight one today with boomers but most will be north and west into ny state and northern ne. other chances are some saying thurs-fri time frame and others like twc fri-sat time frame so janet's saying thurs-sat then by tues of next week finally cooling back to the mid 80s and boomers likely bringing the cooler stuff back in here again. but what a way to start out september hot and summery! sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Angel K. Malachi and family!
We spent the morning at the fabulous opening of CC’s very own Kitty Sanctuary. Queen Maggie and Queen Angel Ginger, along with several of our hard-working and creative furiends, did a terrific job on the project. The “Cathouse On The Queens,” as it was named, is so beautiful we wished we could stay there for a few days! Really! It’s just like a 5-paw hotel! If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out at the Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Center on page 271826.

It’s only supposed to get in the high 80’s today- much better than the 98 degrees we had yesterday. We might even get to stay in the backyard a little bit longer.

Last night my Mom woke up with a start to the sounds of cat’s hissing, screaming and running like horses down the stairs. Mom jumped out of bed, saw Whitey and Orangie looking frightened by the bedroom door. More yowling as Mom ran downstairs to find me, on top of my sister Callie, while she screamed out for Mom. Mom pulled me off of Callie, yelling the whole time; then checking to make sure Callie wasn’t hurt. She wasn’t, but I knew that! Mom picked Callie up and carried her back to bed- where Dad was still sound asleep! That guy can sleep through anything! After everything had calmed down, Mom came downstairs to see where I was. I was sitting at the top of our tallest cat tree, still feeling feisty and swishing my tail back and forth. Mom talked to me and I finally jumped down. Mom isn’t sure what caused the fight, but she’s hoping I’m just feeling better. Maybe she’ll get the hint that I need more one-on-one playtime with her!

We hope your dear Mom is resting this weekend. We know you and your brother will be keeping a close watch over her. Give her and your Dad soft angel kitty hugs for us my dear BFF, maybe prop her feet up with a few pillows so she can relax. We have your precious family in our prayers.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hey Angel Malachi!
No Mom never lets us outside. Geez so sorry Mom thinks she has a kidney stone! I hear they are very painful! We hope she can get it resolved very quickly with as little pain & discomfort as possible. I had my annual Vet check with morning with one shot. Got those dirty ears cleaned & Mom came home with drops to use twice a day. After she uses the cleaning solution she got last year. The ear cleaning did not go well at that time. I don't like anyone touching my ears. Mom will have her work cut out for her. She had to help the Vet & tech hold me down. She will try to burito me in a towel but she will likely get shredded! Leaving a healing vote for your sweet Mom & keeping her in our prayers. Peace & love. Have a purrfect day. Kitty Kisses. Legend

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
Today we take a break in the catpaign, to make an announcement,
Queens Maggie and Angel Ginger have agreed that the Coronation shall take place on Tuesday September 1st beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. The ceremony will take place on the Cat’s Meow Resort, (271826). Following the ceremony there will be a reception for all kitties. There will be a delicious menu, Music and Dancing until the wee hours (or until everyone is tired and goes to sleep)
I have to say, It has been an honor and a pleasure to Catpaign this month, and I am so overwhelmed with your support and kindness. I will try to be a good Queen and serve you well.
And now a poem:

Like God keeps His eye upon the sparrow,
I keep my eye upon the cat,
For unlike the little sparrow,
I’m not sure just where she’s at.
She knows the couch is out of bounds,
Yet invariably she goes there,
She ignores the yellow warning tape,
I’ve wound around it, in despair.
I know she likes electric cords,
She pulls them from the wall,
I’ve told her fifty million times,
The wires are rewired now,
To shriek like fire sirens,
If she so much as puts a paw
Anywhere near their environs.
She treats the kitchen counter,
As a fun place on which to glide,
Though it’s purposely lubricated
To make her slip and slide.
When I booby-trapped the cupboards,
I thought, “A-ha! I’ve stopped her now!”
But fearlessly she enters,
And does not blow up, somehow.
Some cat owners keep baskets
Of balls of yarn upon the floor,
My basket’s filled with hand grenades,
Which she bats around ’til she gets bored.
Alternate pencils on my desktop,
On impact will explode,
She always kicks the safe ones off,
How ever does she know?
There’s nothing wrong with cat food,
It’s made special, just for cats,
But she wants steak and baked potato,
Just once I’d like to wear a dress,
Not accessorized with cat hair,
But plastic bags do not protect,
How does she get inside there?
I firmly speak; my voice is loud,
Sometimes I fairly SHOUT!
But, somehow her cat meows,
Are loud enough to drown me out.
I tell her time and time again,
It would help so much when I yell at her,
If she looked more like a brute.
Her attention span is not too long,
Just long enough to drive me wild,
I’m convinced she had some lessons,
From a clever, spoiled child.
I doubt God’s little sparrows,
Give Him trouble quite like mine,
But He can’t hold them in His lap,
Or hug them any time.
Oh, I suppose it is a tradeoff,
And I do get some relief,
Like when she’s curled up on the couch
Behind the yellow tape, asleep.
I think to master cat control,
Is a fine, accomplished art,
I’ve learned I can cat-proof my house,
But I can’t cat-proof my heart.
I love you all,

write to talley twice now on this matter of the time, date and so on, but seems they were late in getting it up last night so only posted a poem and that was it! we did send another question about that this morning and at least you can't say janet's not trying she is! was perfect for walking upon janet getting in from work with pepper and nat yesterday and janet knows it's only a matter of time nat won't walk both times and usually gets him before he does his homework, or after his programs are on from noon-2 soaps he's addicted to 2-3 on cbs, then usually does homework from 2-5 when it's gone suppertime. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
We have a short blog and a long poem today.
I wanted to mention another way to help shelters. It’s something that dad has been doing for quite a while, and we almost forgot to mention it to you. It’s easy, doesn’t cost anything and provides funding for almost any charity that you can think of.
Most of us order things from Amazon, and they have a program called Amazon Smile. You sign up, and then whenever you make a purchase a, small donation is made to the charity you selected.
The small amounts add up, our local “No More Homeless Pets’ told us that they receive almost two hundred dollars a month.
Just a thought, and now our poem....
There's a danger you know.
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger
One cat is not trouble, and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey
The fifth is delightful, the sixth ones's a breeze.
You find you can live with a houseful, with ease.
So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy, but Oh Lord, the hair!
With cats on the sofa and cats on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, its no bother, you said.
They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more cat and one more little crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty.
The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty.
The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a kitten, you can always find room.
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.
There's hardly a limit to the cats you can add
the thought of a cutback, sure makes you feel sad.
Each one is special, so useful, so funny,
The food bill grows larger, you owe the vet money.
Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other cat folks, who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died and your shrubs are dead, too.
Your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.
There's cat food and vitamins, grooming and shots
And entries and travel and motels, which cost lots.
Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite comes up and climbs in your lap.
His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the kittens in spite of the bill.

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the cats on the sofa, who refuse to get up.
The cats and the cat shows, the travel, the thrills
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.
The Whole thing seems worth it, the cats are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.
Your lifestyle has changed, things just won't be the same.
Yes, those cats are addictive and so's the cat game!

Hey Angel Malachi!
Thanks very much for the organic super catnip for my adoptiversary! So very sorry your Mom has been sick! We hope she recovers fast! We are both in the open living room window. A couple nights lately a black cat has been out there & last night Mom woke up to scratching noises and when she looked out, she thought she saw a pointy white face in the recycle box under the window! She put the outside light on & it disappeared! Mom is afraid it might be a possum again. We had one here last year once. Mom is going to close the window when she goes to bed as she isn't sure what it might do & that's too close to her precious boys! MOL. Leaving a healing vote for your sweet Mom & keeping her in our prayers. Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Legend

good morning!
janet just wrote to talley about the time, time zone and date of the coronation. sandy, haley, angels puffy and maitai have dec-ided to be here on monday to start getting ready for the sleep-over and not make the coronation so sakura and mason will have an easier time being just themselves using the flying carpet to go to the coronation from the weekend at pinto as they're flying out back here on monday morning first thing.
janet and nat as of right now don't have any plans for this week end and janet's got garden work picking beans and well just checking on the tomatoes, but knows it's going to be some weeks before they start to turn as she's pinched the tops off of some that are way to tall. walking too will be a factor especially once she's in from work today through sunday depends on how hot it'll be at the time she's home from work. more stewed nuts have started to show up and one full timer who got transferred out in june is back due to not having enough help and he still wants out and doesn't want to stay, but full timers for the most part go where they're told once transferred. nice cool fall like morning was 56 when janet took pepper out around 2;30 seeing she got up and going a bit earlier thanks to haley waking her up around 2:10 or so. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Angel K. Malachi and family!
Another hot day for us here- in the mid 90’s today and tomorrow and then it will start to cool down. Mom took Callie and me for our stroller walk early this morning. We had the trail to ourselves, when we saw a small doggie coming towards us, just trotting along by himself. He wasn’t barking and his tail was wagging. Mom was relieved to see he had a collar. Mom always carries a leash, just in case, so she parked our stroller off the trail and went to see if the doggie was friendly enough to let her leash him. He was and while Mom was trying to read his tag, we suddenly heard people yelling for “Bella!” Yep! The doggie’s tag said Bella on it with a phone number. Mom never gets the gender right. MOL! Bella was a girl! Any way, the people yelling were on the other side of the trail. The three mile loop trail is the one we always use. So Mom had to run down a hill (with Bella) to get to the creek and yell as loud as she could - “Bella is over here!” The owners were two teenagers who had let Bella off her leash while they walked. They said Bella never goes far, but apparently she must have seen a squirrel or something interesting. They thanked Mom and put Bella back on her leash. Callie and I waited patiently in our stroller, praying that no one would come by and cat-nap us! Mom assured us we were always within her eyesight. We had to turn around and hurry back home because it was warming up and Mom still needed to take our neighbor Abarna out for a stroll. Whew! What a morning! This will be a great day for cat napping.:)

Give your pawrents and handsome Mason Dixon soft angel kitty hugs for us. We're keeping your dear Mom in our prayers and hoping her tummy pain is gone for good. Make sure she gets lots of rest my dear BFF.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

“She hops expectantly into the sink. I turn on the tap for her; she laps without a glance in my direction, like a duchess so used to being ministered to that she no longer notices the servants and sees only a world where objects dumbly bend to her wishes, doors opening, faucets discharging cool water, delicious things appearing in her dish.” =^.^= - Peter Trachtenberg, On The Love of Cats and Persons

Ki A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, it's me, Talley
Today we’re going to discuss a very serious subject; Lost Kitties and how to find to find them. I hope you never need this information!
Top 10 Tips For Finding Lost Cats
1) Not all missing cats are lost. Cats are notorious for hiding in impossible places. Before you assume kitty is missing, make a thorough search indoors. ( I once spent the entire day in mom’s lingerie drawer)
2) If you know your cat is missing, grab your cellphone with a photo of your cat uploaded, flashlight and treats and head out. Wear comfortable clothes and comfortable soft-soled shoes. Hit the streets
3) While you’re searching, ask pedestrians, knock on neighbor’s doors and show the photo. Ask if you can check their garage, sheds, under the porch. To save time, multi-task during the search: leave a missing cat report with your vet, Animal Control, all the other local vets, shelters and rescue groups.
4) When you return home, leave food and water outside your door. Local TNR rescue rescues will often lend a trap. Go outside one last time to check and call your cat’s name before bedtime.
5) If you haven’t already made a missing cat poster, make one. Include: A good photograph, your cat’s name, description, any special identifying marks or collar, when last seen and where (cross street), your phone and e-mail. adding contact info at the bottom of the page cut into four or five vertical strips that can be easily torn off is helpful.
6) Enlist family and friends to help post flyers and spread the word. Have push pins, tape and a staple gun depending on the surface. The best posting spots include street intersection poles, local bulletin boards at grocery stores, library, laundromat and community center.
7) Post missing cats reports at online at Tabbytracker Craigslist, local online newspapers Use social networking like Facebook and Twitter. Ask everyone to share.
8) Visit all your local shelters to look for yourself even if say they don’t have a cat of your description.
9) If you’ve recently moved, extend your search to your old neighborhood.
10) Persevere! Cats have returned weeks and months later. Keep networking, and asking neighbors if they’ve noticed anything. Keep your flyers or posters fresh with a “Still Missing” header.
Today’s poem was selected by my dad!

I Could Pee on This
Her new sweater doesn’t smell of me
I could pee on that
She’s gone out for the day and
left her laptop on the counter
I could pee on that
Her new boyfriend just pushed
my head away
I could pee on him
She’s ignoring me ignoring her
I could pee everywhere
She’s making up for it
by putting me on her lap
I could pee on this
I could pee on this

oh well,
two things which never did get done yesterday was her bed changed/washed, out on the lines, or the corn and lima beans frozen like she had hoped seeing she never got the email/fb done till late in the afternoon just before and after supper last night as well as before their evening walk. was nice not having all the heat and humidity around and it'll be back starting this weekend through ALL of next week with feels like temps upper 90s and lower 100s not much we can do but it sure will dry things up further here seeing the rest of the area got a lot of rain as close as going uptown and points north as well as south and east. here only 2 small showers and one tropical downpour that's it unless we got more that night which is likely, but not much if that! so what we did get got soaked up like a sponge and the rest ran off!
for the cornonation are we going to leave early to make it to the resort as there's a ball as well as dinner there that night? i told talley that we were going to leave halfway through the afternoon or earlier as mason/sakura, sandy/haley and 2 angels could handle the clean up to make sure things were back where they belonged otherwise we know mommy and janet would have "fits" so to speak if things weren't back where they belonged. for this weekend sakura has invited us down and we've already told a.q. gracie that we'd be there for the full moon party but some would have to leave on monday and others first thing tuesday morning due to the nature of the events we have going on. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Dear Angel King Malachi and family
We're so relieved to hear your dear Mom is feeling a little better, but we hope she gives in and goes to see a doctor. Even if the pain was just from gas, she should find out why it happened at all. God forbid that it happens again. My Mom hates going to see the doctor too, but we want your sweet Mom to stay healthy for her family. Maybe you can whisper in her ear, my dear BFF, and tell her you'll be right there with her when she goes to the doctor. We're keeping her in our prayers and also your very worried Dad and furbrother. We know when our Moms don't feel well, the household is turned upside down.:(
No need to blog back my furiend. Make sure your Mom gets lots of rest, okay? We know you will dear Angel. God bless you and your precious family.
Today is supposed to be in the low 90’s so we went out early for our stroller walk. Then Mom took our neighbor out for a ride in her wheelchair. The sun was already out, so Mom hooked an umbrella on the wheelchair to keep the sun off of Abarna. We watched them from the bay window and laughed at how silly they looked. MOL!

This morning my Mom was filling the syringes with my pureed cat food and I sat by the kitchen watching her. Normally I run off when she comes towards me so she has to catch me first. But today I didn’t. Mom got on the ground next to me, petting me and letting me sniff the syringe. I swallowed the first one like a good boy and Mom waited for me to run. Nope! I sat there waiting for more! Mom gave me my second one along with a big hug. Dad was watching and said to Mom, “Oh no, I hope he doesn’t get used to eating this way. How will I ever be able to feed him when you’re not here?” Mom isn’t worried. She just wants to get some weight on me with this prescription food and hopefully when I go back for my urine retest, I’ll get a clean bill of health. Baby steps Dad!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

This Is My Chair =^.^=
This is my chair.
Go away and sit somewhere else.
This one is all my own.
It is the only thing in your house that I possess
And insist upon possessing.
Everything else therein is yours.
My dish,
My toys,
My basket,
My scratching post and my Ping-Pong ball;
You provided them for me.
This chair I selected for myself.
I like it,
It suits me.
You have the sofa,
The stuffed chair
And the footstool.
I don’t go and sit on them do I?
Then why cannot you leave me mine,
And let us have no further argument?

Hi Mali and Mason!
Neelix here. Good to hear that Mom is feeling better. But that kind of thing is sure painful, so if it keeps happening, Mom should get it checked out, OK?

The folks are down at my brothers house taking care of things. They go there everyday for a few hours to keep Earl company and do general stuff like get the mail, newspaper, water different parts of the property on different days because of the drought. Each area only gets watered once a week, but the trees need it one day, the backyard plants another day, the front lawn has been torn out and replaced with drought resistant stuff, but that needs water once a week, too. The backyard at Earls place is fairly large, but the lawn is pretty brown so only the perimeter plants get watered.

Mom brushes Earl and plays with him. He likes to chase his feather on a pole and fetch his catnip mice. Oh yeah...can't forget to clean out Earl's litter boxes. MOL! What else is the staff for, right?
Mom is still texting from her old phone, because CC doesn't recognize her from the IPad.

Much love to your dear folks. Left a vote

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley

I'd like to take a moment, before we begin today’s blog, to thank every one of you, who took the time to come by and offer your support during my catpaign. I feel like I've learned a lot from all of you, and I hope I've offered you some ideas you may not have thought of before. I truly am grateful for your comments, ideas and help.
Well, tonight, I'll address a subject that I probably should have mentioned before. That is “spreading the word.” Shelters have wonderful kitties just waiting for someone to love. There are lots of people who feel lonely and troubled whose lives could be transformed for the better by a furry companion. How do we get them together? Advertising is the answer. It’s effective, but expensive. There is free publicity though, It is through the news media. It can be as simple as writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper, or it can involve establishing a rapport with local television and promoting shelter adoptions. Remember, there are lots of loving kitties available at a much lower cost than going to a breeder or pet shop. (dad has a hard time going to PetSmart on weekends because he always wants to bring all of the kitties home. The important thing though is to get the word out. People who live with pets live longer healthier lives than those who don't. Alley Cat Allies has a media primer on the website and it offers great ideas and sample letters and news releases. The address is http://www.alleycat. org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=373 . So, to get started, let's resolve to write at least one letter to the newspaper during the month of my reign.

Regarding the Coronation Ball, We still need to arrange the details with Queens,Angel Ginger and Maggie, but one thing is certain. Every one of the kitties on CC is invited to the CMR resort on September 1st, to celebrate at the Coronation Ball, There will be a speech (a very short one, I promise) and wonderful food, , and there will be dancing too. I want to purrsonally shake paws and hug each and every one of you.

And now today, something a little different:

An Old Russian Prayer
Hear our prayer Lord, for all animals,
May they be well-fed and well-trained and happy;
Protect them from hunger and fear and suffering;
And, we pray, protect specially, dear Lord,
The little cat who is the companion of our home,
Keep her safe as she goes abroad,
And bring her back to comfort us

And a poem

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice,
For grocery bags where I can hide,
Just like a tiger, crouched inside!
I pray for gourmet Kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For window sills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I’ll always stay real cool,
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

I love you all,

good afternoon darling! sorry we're kind of late, but janet's been very busy since 4:30 this morning when she got up as the oldest and youngest sisters were walking on her wanting some at-tention. she got up and since it still was to dark to walk till well after 5 due to some low fog which by the time she was out walking at 5:30 had lifted and it was getting light fast, so she had to get on the move like pronto! she did get some blogging done on the other page before leaving and once she was out took some great pictures which include some newer ones of us she just took which will be up sometime soon she promises! well once back she took pepper out as well as changing afterwards and outback to pick things. she found 3 tomatoes, string and lima beans a big pailful as she's not done it since last weekend. after that she was pick ing peaches what she could get without a ladder first and when she was picking with that step ladder the bottom step finally gave away but after she had gotten down! now it's going to be given away free to let somebody else take and fix up or be pulled apart and put into the trash for monday. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
Yesterday was a wonderful day here in Jacksonville. It was 85 and not a cloud in the sky. We didn’t get any thunder boomers either. There was a nice breeze and we got to play in the screened patio while mom & dad worked in the flower beds. Dad has a couple of square foot gardens, and he took some of the tired tomato plants out and put in some lettuce, parsley, beans, and CATNIP. Mom planted flowers, in the front yard beds and down the driveway beds.

Today, I’d like to tell you about an Alley Cat Allies program that helps community awareness of the needs that stray and feral kitties have. It's called Every Kitty – Every City.

This what Alley Cat Allies says about the program:
Through the Every Kitty – Every City program, we raise awareness and educate the community in targeted cities about outdoor cats, feral cat colony care, Trap-Neuter-Return, and the importance of accessible, affordable neuter services through workshops, outreach programs, and organizing.

The Every Kitty – Every City program provides individuals, groups, and veterinary professionals in the community with the tools and basic knowledge needed to serve as a community resource. As part of the program, Alley Cat Allies rallies and assists community volunteers, local groups, and private shelters to enhance their already existing Trap-Neuter-Return programs or to seamlessly launch new ones.
Alley Cat Allies sponsors workshops, open to the public, for advice and instruction on the best practices of Trap-Neuter-Return and colony care. We also recruit and help train local veterinary professionals on high-volume, low-cost techniques that will increase the availability of affordable neuter services including early-age spay/neuter and vaccination protocol. To start a program in your city, contact one of the existing programs, Or contact Alley Cat Allies!
This program was vital in establishing the TNR program of No More Homeless Pets, here in Jacksonville.

And now, a funny poem for today:

All I Need To Know About Life
I Learned From My Cat

Life is hard, and then you nap.
One day ignore people, the next day annoy them.
When in doubt cop an attitude.
Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours.
Climb your way to the top, that's why the drapes are there.
Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone's face.
If you're not receiving enough attention,
try knocking over several expensive lamps.
Make your mark in the world or at least spray each corner.
When you go out into the world, remember:
being placed on a pedestal is a right, not a privilege.

Thank you so much for your love and support! I love you all,

We are so worried about your dear Mom my furiend. We're hoping and praying her abdominal pain is not too serious and it's something the doctors can help her with quickly. Magic Wand (For Mom Jody)
I wish I had a magic wand
To make it go away;
I'd wave my scepter over you
Until you were okay.

I'd think good thoughts; I'd send you love;
I'd transmit healing vibes;
My wand and I would surely beat
Whatever the doc prescribes.

But there is no magic scepter, so
I cannot cast a spell;
Just know you're often in my thoughts,
And I hope you'll soon be well!

we sure missed not hearing from you yesterday, but cc was down briefly and well janet just posted and got stuff done on fb which was her day here and then it came up not long before it was breakfast time so we left a few blogs and since janet had already gotten the bulk of the blogging done only had 3-4 more to do once she and nat were back from errands and the afternoon was hers to get off line pretty early on! your mom must've had a bad headache migraine again and we know whenever you're not on line that's the usual culprit or you have company or something else came up. sure hoping things are okay and that we'll see you here today despite the boomers we have coming as janet smelled rain in the air and indeed it's to the west and most will stay to the other side of the ct. river for the first round of boomers, the second and third rounds will be later while she's at work and on her way home, so hopes that it's not coming down like it was when she got caught out in it last friday on their way home from grocery shopping, kind of stinks moving at a snails pace, but if you have to do it, then that's what gets done! sandy,ab, haley, angels

hi ak mali
goliath laid down on momma's bed as usua tonightl. but seemed different so momma took the hard pastic collar from his neck and he rolled over on his back and cuddled into momma's arms with his nose buried against her neck
momma laid there with him that way till she had to (excuse this) pee when she got up well of course goliath did too and "said" momma I need to pee too. momma at this ppoint took the much larger "soft collar" off (it kept him from reaching past the hard one to lick

anyhoo, momma just spent a very breathless and painful 25 minutes what with her copd and back problems, walking goliath round our 1 acre yard with his leash in one hand and her glock 45 in the other ( not taking any chances on that scum bag that was breaking in her bedroom window last sunday nite) for protection. anyway goliath had the best time in four weeks and when he got a bit fast for momma all she had to do was say my bubba too fast and he would stop and let momma catch up and then walk slower for her.

aww momma will always wonder why a doggie cant just walk out in the yard and pee or poop instead of making at least 3 trips over the same area and then wind up coming right back to the place he started to begin with to poop

aaahhhh the tings we do for our furkids.
again thank all of yall so very much for ur prayers and to momma janet( dean and fam) and momma Irene, queen Maggie and a ginger, and momma Amanda( k whiskers and fam) for the donations they sent to help with goliath's vet bill. it helped so much regardless that I still am facing a 900.00 bill at this time. it will all come around and be handled by god's or momma's efforts

loves yall

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
We never want to think about disasters, but we need to be prepared, (or should I say Purrpared). The ‘Seniors’, Hot Rod and Ziggy, suggested that we post a blog explaining how to prepare to evacuate our homes, should it become necessary.
They are so right, with the fires raging on the west coast, and the first hurricane of the season threatening the Caribbean, and possibly the mainland US, it’s time we took a look at what we need to do.
Before I do anything else, let me post the Web Address for the ASPCA emergency preparedness Website. Everything you need to do is spelled out there;
(Please eliminate any spaces that CC puts into the web addresses) ss
What is important is that you look at it now and prepare a kit to use when you need it. Basically, you need food, water, bowls, litter and emergency supplies for at least three days. (More is better.) We’ve already discussed first aid kits, but if any of you kitties need medication, that needs to be in the kit too.
Next you need a place to stay. Not all shelters will take pets, so here is a website that provides information on pet friendly hotels:
I know it can be scary to think about having to leave your home, but just think about how scary it would be to be in your home during a fire or a hurricane or a flood. When the emergency is over, use the perishable supplies and replenish your go-kit so that you’re always prepared for the unexpected.
The family needs to be prepared, that means the whole family including the four legged members.
Thanks again to Hot Rod and Ziggy for suggesting this topic.
And now our poem;
There was a spry woman
who lived next door.
She had cats in the attic
and cats on the floor.
There were cats where she ate
and cats where she slept,
And she dearly loved all
the cats that she kept.
At night she tucked each
in a wee little bed,
But they all much preferred
to wander instead.
The ripped through the screens
and battered through holes.
They climbed up the chimney
and slid down clothes poles.
They made a great racket
and scurried around.
They jumped from the roof
to the fence to the ground.
When the night was over,
at the crack of dawn,
The cats came home
with a sigh and a yawn.
They were quiet and docile
and gentle as silk
And came a-begging
for morning milk.
The neighbors were furious,
frustrated, and frantic,
Refusing to stand for
another cat antic.
When they came to complain,
they were offered a treat.
The cats were all kittenish,
playful, and neat.
They blinked and stretched
and purred on their mats.
Who would believe
there were the same cats?
By (Dorothy Golub)

i can hardly believe that our vacation sped by that fast as it was just yesterday when we were rolling along and having a lot of fun together, something we rarely get a chance to do. did my sisters tell you they'll be with us again as well as the angels this fall-spring months? even though it's supposed to be warmer there, they said they're still planning on coming on down to spend the time with us for nov-april! can hardly wait till that happens then when they are with us maybe we can all go to disney world or some of the bigger sites around the area and out of state by ourselves as well. it's going to be an exciting time for sure. cc was giving janet fits the past half hour error page and now it's up and running again seems they're still working on more "bugs" in the system as it was down sat afternoon/night and to some of yesterday morning. not much going on here errands and don't know how many, but one janet's insisting on going to is aldi's as she wants to get more tomato juice and popcorn some thing shes missed as a snack at home and really wants some! sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Angel K. Malachi and Princess Lady Ana!
When you take your kitty love on a shopping spree my dear BFF, you certainly don't mess around! The Mall of Vermont sounded stupendous! You sure know how to pamper your beautiful wife. And we can't wait to see you in your mew riding leathers! I always knew you were born to be wild! Hee, hee, hee! That's my BFF!

It sounds like you and Princess Lady Ana had a fabulous vacation together. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Bet you really missed your dear pawrents and your furbrother. Give them big hugs for us when you see them. We've kept them all in our prayers every day. Here's what's happening around here...
We had surprise company this weekend at our home. My Mom’s niece, her husband and 14 month old baby drove up from San Diego for a quick visit. They all left this morning for the long 8 hour drive back home. Whitey, Orangie and myself were terrified of the little baby (Elsie), but my sister Callie has turned out to be a social butterfly. MOL! Well, Callie did come out to meet everyone and she even layed down on the stairs to keep an eye on things. Mom was so proud of her. I stayed with Whitey and Orangie, to keep them both safe under the bed. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Hee, hee!

Tonight I get my final dose of antibiotics. Hooray! Mom will call the vet tomorrow to find out when she wants to retest my urine for blood. Mom is hoping we can wait a couple of weeks to give the prescription cat food some more time to work and to give me a break from everything.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

the cat might change to something else.

The spinning-wheel of ancient magic
must never be allowed to stick;
and changing itself into a princess
is, for a cat, a minor trick.

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley

Dad received a solicitation in the mail from the Humane Society of the United States. And while he feels that they don’t get enough of each contributed dollar to shelters, he found some of the ideas here worthwhile. (dad prefers to support Alley Cat Allies and local shelters) but here are ten Ideas from HSUS.

1. Tell the world how you feel about your local shelter or rescue by using The Humane Society of the United States' Facebook share graphics.
2. Get to know your local shelters and rescue groups. Start the process by locating all of the ones in your area. You may be surprised how many groups nearby are helping animals.

3. Learn before you leap. Before you adopt, go to the Shelter Pet Project to learn what to expect when adopting a pet. You'll be much less likely to become frustrated and return your new pet if you understand the challenges and rewards of adopting a pet beforehand.

4. Say Thanks, Take a minute to express your gratitude to the people who work at your local shelter or rescue groups. If you've adopted a pet from one of them, show how well your pet is doing by sharing an updated picture via a letter, email, or posting it on the organization's Facebook page or website.

5. Get Crafty. Combine fabric, yarn, recyclables, and imagination to bring much-needed fun into the lives of local shelter and rescue pets. There's no end to the toys you can make. Try braiding strips of fleece into fun for dogs, or cutting and folding a surprising household object into a cat distractor.

6. Become a “Fan”. Like" the Shelter Pet Project on Facebook. Then, if possible, "like" the individual groups in your community, too.

7. Make wishes come true. Shelters and rescue groups always need towels, toys, and other supplies. Check their websites for wish lists or call them to find out what's in short supply.

8. Volunteer, if you can!

9. Help by helping your own pets, Microchip, tag and keep them safe!

10. Help local shelters make positive changes. If you see or hear anything at your local shelter that concerns you, follow The HSUS's guidelines for addressing that concern in the most effective way.

Nothing new here, but just a reminder.

And now, I have a short, funny little poem for us today:

You will find that feeding a cat is no easy task
What's the big problem you may well ask
Just open a tin and feed them from that
It is obvious my friend you don't own a cat
When outside they will eat a fly or a mouse
But things soon change when they dine in the house
Your fridge might be full of meat, poultry and fish
But what do you put in your fussy Cats dish
For to keep a Cat fed we beg, steal and borrow
Because what we give them today they won't want TOMORROW.

I love you all, dear friends,

i've enjoyed
each day this past week darling and we're gonna have to do it again if we have the chance maybe earlier when it's not as hot or crowded as it's been this year. we did choose the right day to do the shopping inside at the mall of vermont seeing the rain moved in earlier than it did down janet's way as it was just starting when she went to work and ended before she got out, but then started again when she and nat did the grocery shopping and got caught on the way home in big downpours of heavy rain! nice outside right now 60 and we did have some clearing in the after-noon and last night, but the front stalled just to the east of us here and will back up and well back to the mess again tonight into tomorrow and dry out for monday and back to the mess again on tuesday as usual! but with mid 80s today and monday and lower the rest of the time through saturday with heavy rain most of the day then. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Angel K. Malachi and family!
Yes siree! You and your beautiful Princess Lady Ana are eating like royalty- as you both should! Just hearing about all the delicious cuisine on your vacation is enough to make my collar feel tight. MOL! Mom says I could use the extra weight!

The Revolutionary War re-enactment sounds like it was very exciting! And the Echo Lake Aquarium must have been quite a sight to see. You and your kitty love are going to have a lot of beautiful memories! Thanks for sharing with all of us my dear BFF.
Today with a high of only 80 degrees, it was the purrfect day for walking. Our Mom took Callie and me for our morning stroller walk, where we ran into a few of our furiends on the trail. The dogs that know us by now just bark once to say hello and then walk on by. We always fill the bucket by the dried up creek with water and we never forget to bring our bag of birdseed. Then Mom went to get our neighbor Abarna for a stroll in her wheelchair. Abarna brought a bag filled with breadcrumbs, so the birds and squirrels were really happy today!

When Mom came home, we were all catnapping. Mom always takes a head count before she does anything and this morning she couldn’t find my sister Callie. I followed my Mom around the house, checking the usual hiding spaces, but no Callie. So Mom started to panic, trying to remember if she could have opened any door, letting Callie get out unnoticed. By now her heart was racing! Orangie was asleep in the bay window and Whitey was in the closet. Whitey has a bed in the closet that she likes to sometimes catnap in. Mom shined the flashlight in the closet just to make sure Whitey was there. But still no Callie! Finally after tearing through the whole house, Mom decided to recheck the closet where Whitey was sleeping. But she couldn’t imagine Callie would ever get in the closet with Whitey. They just don’t get along that well! So Mom opened the closet doors to get a better view and sure enough - Callie was buried in a box filled with winter blankets in a corner of the closet! Callie and Whitey together in a closet?! Mom would have never believed it if she hadn’t seen it for herself! Now maybe I can get some peace and quiet for MY nap. MOL!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley

Even though today’s blog is off of our topic, I wanted to share this. I just have a family story and a poem for you. The poem and the story together, are kind of long so I’ll get right to it;

In the days after my sister Angel Lucy Fur crossed the Rainbow Bridge, my dad was inconsolable. He missed her terribly and he just couldn't seem to get over the heartache. They had been best friends for seventeen years and Lucy was very precious to him.
Whenever he would go to bed, He imagined that he could feel her jump up to share his pillow, as she always had. He'd reach up to feel her soft fur and he'd find only emptiness on the pillow and in his heart.
It was a week after Lucy died that dad had a remarkable dream. He said it was so real he felt that he was really there. In his dream, he heard a soft scratching at the front door and when he opened it, there was a big black cat at the door just sitting quietly. The cat turned and looked away from the house toward the little memorial garden where Lucy had been buried. There were dozens of cats there, all looking so radiantly beautiful in the afternoon sunlight that they seemed to shine from within, with a light of their own. Sitting in the very front of the gathering, was Lucy. She looked at dad and slowly winked her eyes at him. Then, with a swish of her tail, she turned away and led the cats down into the back garden, fading away as they went. Dad awoke from that dream with tears in his eyes, but he knew that Lucy had come back to say a final goodbye and to let him know she was ok and that she would be waiting for him..........
Dad could hardly manage to tell mom about the dream, he kept choking up, but mom found this poem for him. He copied it in very small print, and still carries it in his wallet.
Here is that special poem that dad copied back in 2008;

*Thud* as you hear,
A cat jump down,
Turn around to check,
Nothing there,
*Meow* goes a cat,
Where from?
I don't see,
Something wrapping around your legs,
Go away Smokey,
You look down nothing there,
*Jump* as the bed bounced,
The cat jumped on the bed,
But you look....there's no cat,
*creak* goes the door,
The cat sneaked out,
But no cat to be seen,
You hear a cat eating/drinking,
But there's no bowls or cat,
Whats making these noises?
There's no cat, not no more,
He died on 20th May,
so what makes these movements?
Not the dog he's too noisy,
Could it be Smokey's spirit?
To say he's ok?
Or is it just your mind playing tricks,
Making you think he is still around.

good morning!
looks like a rainy day on tap, some say a good day for fishing, and well i'm not up to that seeing you are supposed to surprise me by taking me to the university mall here outside of burling-ton! we'll spend it this way and if the rain moves on out we can do the downtown shops too if it's not to crowded, otherwise why not take a side trip up to hero on an island on champlain as it's the summer home of the world famous lippitzaners horses here in the usa, as their winter home is in north carolina. if not then there's some covered bridges up this way and would make for a good ride and seeing more of this lovely state! what time are we leaving tomorrow or sunday for home? supposed to be drier and slightly less humid tomorrow so a good travel day if we leave bright and early and not dwadle say between 5-6? heard mason and sakura are staying the weekend at janet's in the garage and outside fleeing hurricane danny. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Angel K. Malachi and Princess Lady Ana!
It was a nice 82 degrees here today, so my sisters and I got to catnap in the backyard most of the day. My Mom took Callie and me for our early morning stroller walk and afterwards Mom took our neighbor Abarna out for a walk in her wheelchair. Abarna enjoyed the fresh air and although the ride got a little bumpy at times, she asked Mom if they could do it again tomorrow. Now if we could only get our Mom to somehow push a wheelchair and a cat stroller at the same time. MOL!

Mom brought out the vacuum monster, so we took that as our cue to run back inside and hide under the bed. Since Callie, Whitey, Orangie and I always hide together under the bed until it’s over, it gave us a chance to catch up on our meows. Hee, hee, hee!

Sorry for the late meow today. Mom and I had just finished our every day special votes, when Dad called to say he had locked his keys in his car- again! Dad does this at least once a year. Mom had made him an extra car key to carry in his wallet, but Dad said he took it out because it kept falling out of his wallet. Mom didn’t even want to ask how that was possible. :|
The historic marine museum you and Princess Lady Ana toured sounded so interesting. We bet your wife had a wonderful time shopping in such a beautiful state. We've never been to Vermont, but after how you described it, we put it on the top of our list. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us my dear BFF. Tell your pawrents and dear Mason Dixon we said meow. We hope they're staying cool.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
The big brave Angel cat, folding a rainbow wing,
Stretched out his gentle paw
I'll find, purred he,
A kitten-- you were kind--
You must not grieve for me.
This one might do, this timid little stray
Terrestrial night to my celestial day;
It cannot take my place,
No other could do that,
But though you cannot bring me back, you might retrace
Remembrance in a kitten's pansy-face.

Hi A K Malachi & Mason Dixon, It's Talley
Today's topic is Reliable Cat Health Information and the Cornell University Feline health Center. They have some great information on Cat Health Topics, in general, and in particular their Spay Neuter program, but the article is quite lengthy, So I'm giving the web address and asking that you stop by and check out the site. It would take several CC Blogs to print it here so I think this is the best way to bring it you. The Address is:

This is a funny story that I would like to share with you about my brother Pete. When he was just a little kitten he had some kind of immune deficiency that caused his paw pads to crack and bleed. Our vet first diagnosed it as chemical burns, which dad knew wasn’t right. Finally our vet referred Pete to a Feline Dermatologist. His name was Dr. Bishop. He was a Graduate of Cornell.
He took one look at Pete’s little pink paws and said that he had Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. He said that kittens grew out of it as their immune systems developed, but untreated, the normal course was to develop a serious and sometime fatal infection.

Pete had to have his paws cleaned with a special medicine three times a day and take antibiotic pills morning and evening. Pete was a very mellow kitten, and after the third day he realized that he would get treats for taking his medicine, all dad had to do was put the pills down on his plate and Pete would eat them and then look for his treats. On one of his recheck visits, dad showed Dr. Bishop how easy it was to get Pete to take his medicine. Dr. Bishop thought it was amazing, and asked if he could borrow Pete to show to the class that he taught at the University of Florida. Dad said no, that he couldn’t borrow Pete, but that he would bring Pete to class.
Dad was a little worried that Pete might not do his pill trick in front of a hundred Veterinary Students, but he didn’t even seem to notice them. He took his pills, the class erupted in laughter and Dr. Bishop told his students that giving cats medicine didn’t have to be hard, it just required a gentle touch and love.
I hope that made you smile.

Tonight's Poem is a short one by Mary F. of North Carolina; Ms. Murphy picked it for us.
Here it is:

I found a small kitty
so tiny and scared.
I don't know who dumped her
or how she has fared.

She's cold, wet and skinny
such a pitiful sight.
I suspect she has been out here
for many a night.

How could someone dump her?
It seems such a pity.
Some people are cruel
to poor helpless kitties.

Come with me little kitty
I'll make everything right.
You will no longer be hungry
or cold at night.

Your life will be better.
All the love you can stand.
No more neglect for you.
Only a kind, gentle hand.

Love to all of you,
