Hey Malachi!
Happy Memorial Day weekend! Got quite cold & windy today! The apt was down to 65* again so Mom broke out the portable heater again. Screwy weather. We had a couple days of 90* weather! Mom picked up a special knee wrap at CVS today. It fits great. Better than the ice pack she had. It's reusable so she can keep refreezing it. Her therapist wants her icing three times a day because of swelling in the knee. Leaving a vote. Hope all is well! Peace & love. Have a purrfect evening. Kitty Kisses. Anderson

It was 42F here this morning so the temperatures really dipped overnight. Today has been a beautiful day with lots of sun, low humidity and temperatures in the low 70es. Mom has been at work most of the day and she still has several hours left to go. We're just hanging out; thankfully dad is home today so the enclosure is open. Hope your Caturday is purfect.

Hi Sir Malachi!
I’m happy to report, my Mom’s worrying over Whitey not eating yesterday was all for naught. Whitey and Orangie both showed up this morning with voracious appetites. Mom was all smiles again! Afterwards, the two kitties wandered around the garage, sniffing the cat carrier and rubbing their faces on it. (Callie and I had been playing in the cat carrier just yesterday and I made sure to leave my scent.) The cats don’t seem to mind the top of the cat carrier getting closer, so everything is going as planned. We hope!

CATS’ RULES OF LIFE (Part 4)

BEDTIME:
Always sleep on the human at night so he/she cannot move around. Even better- lie on his or hers face, making sure your arse is right on their nose. When she is wearing an expensive silk nightie, don't forget to paw it. This will create lovely patterns!

LITTER BOX:
When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes. The smell is also very attractive.

Marines Rescue Cats In Afghanistan – (taildom.com)

In Afghanistan, in the midst of war, many animals are lost and separated from their family. Many are found later by troops from the US, UK and Canada. Soldiers rescue these animals and get help from rescue groups that help them send these animals out of the country and to a forever loving home that they deserve.

Two US marine soldiers, Brian Chambers & Chris Berry, started a mission to help bring home the kittens they have befriended while serving in Afghanistan. With generous donations from cat lovers and animal rescue shelters, Kiki and Keykey, two lovely ginger kitties, have successfully made it home in the US.

Kiki and his fursister Bones were found by Brian Chambers, a U.S. Marine. “At only 3 weeks old, their mother had disappeared and they were left alone to live rough and fend for themselves like the other cats in this area. We looked after them both and they lived in a box in the office, after a week they were allowed to roam around during the day and sleep with us in the hooch at night.” Bones vanished a week after, along with Kiki, but Kiki eventually returned.

Kiki was injured badly on March 8th. Brian found him in horrible condition. “He was too frightened to approach me. I ran to find some wipes to clean him and I then realized how bad this wounds really were.” A vet came the next day and put Kiki on a course of antibiotics. Today Kiki has fully recovered.

“Kiki is a very playful adventurous cat who loves to explore and is very curious. He enjoys sitting on my shoulder, chewing on my hand and running up my legs. He hasn’t been put off by what has happened to him.”

Keykey was found by another U.S. marine named Chris Berry. “I found Keykey tangled up in c-wire one day in the beginning of the deployment. I took him in and fixed his wounds. He was extremely malnourished so I constantly kept an eye on him, until he was back to good health. He has been by my side ever since.”

Both Keykey and Kiki have arrived in the U.S. Kiki is currently living with Brian’s parents in Texas. Keykey is living with Chris’ parents in Michigan.

For soldiers who are on duty overseas, often time the only chance they get to cuddle is when they meet these stray animals. These soldiers are lonely and longing for love from their family and friends. The kitties are abandoned, lost and have nowhere to call home. When they find each other, they become best friends.

as of
this morning it's more like winter with a 44 when janet walked well after 5:30 with pepper and it was misting at that time then started to come down again after she got in to sit down and breakfast after looking at the paper. you have to bundle up and janet was happy she did as she slept later too....after 5!!! that's late for her. she'll be up the next 3 days and then 4-5 in a row as she's only got one day off next week wednesday and that can only mean it's SPORTS DAY! not much planned as janet's got some cleaning to do if she gets to it that is. she made a chicken like meatloaf last night and it was good, sandy said she had a little and liked it, but a bit overdone! don't know what she's gonna do today, but likely thawing out something to reheat which is easy to be done later. sandy,ana,haley,angels

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes and all the treats. Sometimes I feel left out because Sweetie gets all the attention, so now I want to be your furiend too.
I'm very good natured. I was so happy to get adopted against all odds [Sweetie still hates me, we had to visit our Granny, and she didn't want me etc] that I am quite undemanding, though I meow a lot [Sweetie is silent mostly] and I love tearing things up and jumping.

there i was..sitting under my favorite peony bush today..minding my own busienss..when a little birdie came down and stood RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! well..what else was i to do? i reached out and batted that ol ' bird til he fell over..then..can you believe this? he stood up and flew away!! aaarrrggghhh!!

EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 61 & low was 46 this morning, now it's 60 with humidity 55% & wind is 9 MPH W. Saturday's suppose to be Rain & Sun & High 65.

♥ We had a break in the weather with no rain for today so about noon mom and dad loaded the truck with several automotive batteries to Interstate Batteries for recycle and some electronics to a different recycle place. Mom also started going through her jewelry armoir to thin out her jewelry collection since she hardly wears most of it and will put it in the yaed sale stuff!!!!

♥ Mom did open dad's bedroom window this afternoon, so we could go out in the cattery for a little while.

The heat and humidity moved north so we've been left with sunny skies and a lot of wind. Mom kind of wishes that she'd left the windows cracked at the cathouse before going to work but she didn't. The next couple of nights will be chilly; I think mom is looking forward to opening up some windows again. She just did away with her heated blanket on the bed--she may still need it? Mom has had a busy day at work and she'll be on call tomorrow so there's a ticket to return to work. Hope your day has been purfect.

Today we visit the Dole Plantation. Originally operated as a fruit stand beginning in 1950, Dole Plantation opened to the public as Hawaii’s "Pineapple Experience" in 1989. Today, Dole Plantation is one of Oahu’s most popular visitor attractions and welcomes more than one million visitors a year.

Are you ready? We are going to take a whistle stop tour through Hawaii’s Pineapple story on the Pineapple Express! On this fully narrated, twenty-minute train tour we’ll learn the story of pineapple in Hawaii. All aboard! After a brief scramble to get a seat next to their best buddies, all kitties are seated and it’s time to go. Our custom-constructed, vintage-style engine whisks us across more than a century of the island’s agricultural history, from the days when pineapple ruled the plantation to today’s rich diversity of farming enterprises, from mangoes to coffee to cacao beans. The ride is two miles long, twenty minutes in length. Along the way, we learn about the history of the world’s most beloved tropical fruit. Our journey takes us through a working plantation of pineapple and other crops, often featuring fields in all stages of growth, from planting to harvest. We also experience some of the scenic panoramas of Oahu’s renowned North Shore from a perspective few Hawai‘i visitors ever get to experience. When we depart the train, we can still smell the sweetness of pineapples ready to be picked.

And now for THE MAZE! In 2008, Dole Plantation’s giant Pineapple Garden Maze was declared the world’s largest maze. The maze stretches over three acres and includes nearly two and one-half miles of paths crafted from 14,000 colorful Hawaiian plants. We walk through the flora of the islands as we seek out eight secret stations that each lead us closer to the mystery at the heart of this larger-than-life labyrinth, one of only a handful of permanent botanical mazes in America. The fastest finishers win a prize and enter into the history of Dole Plantation, with their names recorded on a sign at the maze’s entrance. Several of our guests have raced ahead to find spots where they can “surprise” their furriends and hopefully scare them. After yesterday’s jump from a plane, frightening anyone is not going to prove easy, is it? Once we have confirmed everyone finally is out of the maze and accounted for, we head over for a treat.

No stop to Dole Plantation would be complete without enjoying a world-famous Dole Whip! This refreshing pineapple treat is guaranteed to quench our thirst and cool us down after a sun-filled day. This is the same wonderful treat we enjoyed when we visited Disneyland’s delightful Tiki Room.

Our visit to the Hawaiian Islands is growing to a close. A magnificent meal has been prepared by the chef to commemorate our time in this magical place. My Mom is always having to watch my fursister Callie's weight. The vet says she is a little too heavy, so I have to suffer with her. MOL! You look like a very trim cat!

This morning both Whitey & Orangie were waiting for Mom to open the garage door, but much to Mom’s dismay, Whitey only took a few bites of her Temptations and didn’t touch her canned food at all. Whitey just wanted to be petted and sat with Mom for about an hour. Of course my Mom is worried, but Dad thinks maybe she ate somewhere else. Orangie was happy to eat for the both of them. MOL! We shall see what happens tomorrow.

HAMPERING:
Following are some more rules for "hampering:"

For paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to obscure as much of the work as possible or at least. Pretend to doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen. Bite when you're ready to move on.

When a human is holding the newspaper in front of him/her, be sure to jump on the back of the paper. Humans love to jump.

MOST IMPORTANT When a human is working at computer, jump up on desk, walk across keyboard and write a short story. Bat at mouse pointer on screen as if it were real. Then lay in human's lap across arms, hampering typing in progress.

What I’ve Learned From My Cats- by Sue Resnick

We, as Human-Americans, think that we are so much smarter than our pets. But think about it — who gets a belly rub just by purring; or, tells us when it’s time to eat without ever wearing a watch? That’s right: “Feline-Americans” teach us…that they are superior.

1) Feline-Americans (okay, cats) keep us in the moment. Cats make us realize how ridiculous it is to carry a grudge. They may fight with their “fur peer” one minute over kibble, & forget all about the brawl 5 minutes later. They live in the present. No, they’re not stupid, nor amnesiacs. They just know that carrying a grudge isn’t worth it in life. They have 9 lives and still won’t waste any of them staying mad.

2) Cats teach us patience. If you have the chance, watch a cat scope out a mouse. The kitty won’t run & run after the mouse. Instead, he’ll wait & steady itself for a pounce. That teaches us not to waste energy on something that can’t happen. Just wait for the right moment, & you’ll get what you deserve.

3) Always look attractive. Did you ever notice how big your cat’s eyes get when you open the cabinets where you keep her treats? Or, how she adorably cocks her head when she wants you to pet her? Cats are like supermodels: they can get everything they want by looking beautiful. Next time you need your office buddy to finish a report for you, look pitiful, dewy-eyed & speak softly. They’ll say yes, just because you look adorable.

4) Felines also teach us the value of sleep. We humans don’t sleep enough. You never see a cat wondering if it’s bedtime; they just go to sleep—with no worries. You get into bed, toss & turn, while Kitty snurrs (snoring & purring at the same time). Learn from your cat: your problems won’t go away while you’re dreaming, but you can be anyone you want with your eyes closed (yes, your buddy dreams he rules the Kingdom of Cats, with you as a royal servant).

5) Cats teach us the meaning of unconditional love. Kitties don’t care if you’re a CEO or a dishwasher; they value your heart, not your wallet. Felines won’t judge you if you don’t go to the gym; they’d rather have you home, eating while they have a snack too. If you have a bad day at work, your cat still loves you. Cats don’t think any less of you; they will love you as you are. After all, they think so highly of themselves—they couldn’t think less of you.

6) Lastly, cats have taught us that being a cat is wonderful—if they have a wonderful human to love them. But, I would never tell my beloved cats that fact, because THEY are my boss ….Uh, wait, they are meowing for a treat in the kitchen…gotta go…!

I feel so excited for you! Don't worry, the wedding will be pawtastic (types while licking paw). 103 degrees? OMG! It's only about 60 here. Mom caught a cat in her cat trap the day before yesterday. It was a dull coated individual with tattered ears and a swollen nose. She thinks it's a stray, but maybe it's a lost kitty like my brother Figgaro. I sure do miss him..except around feeding time.

To tell you the truth, there really hasn’t been much happening with the Girl Power Crew lately! Ok, there is this from a few days back when mom used that weedeater and scared most all the outside kitties into hiding then on Monday she mowed the back yard so most all of them went into hiding again!

Oh!, and there’s this thing I told you about my mama Kittzi 160203 was using the potty box lid for her bed…… well, mom figured it out that Kittzi was telling her she needed that MiraLax again cuz she was having problems with it being hard coming out of her! Guess mom’s getting to know some kitty signs and talk! MOL!

For those of you who had voted for me in the GIRL KITTY CONTEST sponsored by SassySu, I want to say Thank You, but mom pulled me from the contest for purrrsonal reasons. She said maybe another time!

On Thursday morning when mom came in our room to scoop out our potty boxes then came to say Good Morning to me and Kittzi, well, Kittzi decided to bite mom's left index finger and it started bleeding. All mom was doing was petting her, but guess she didn't want petted. Mom's ok though and she never even raised her voice nor got mad at her! She just told Kittzi it's ok!

Ok, ok! So I told a little kitty fib of saying “not much has been happening”! So kiss me for that! MOL! Oh, and, Mom also just changed my profile picture to one taken on May Day!

For the next several months we may not be on too often as mom and dad will be xtra busy. We will try to get on when we can!

We are headed for Seaworlds Aquatica water park. It use to be Knotts soak city. It’s only about 10-15 minutes away. We are going to have so much fun. The bus is going to leave at 10am this morning. Get your swimsuits ready and don’t furget the suntan lotion.

we're starting
to cool down only 60s here today and 50s this weekend with 40s at night which means the windows will be down again! rats just when janet was getting used to having them up all night! likely got between 2-3" more on top of the 11/2" of rain we got the other night/day from those boomers and more coming today through sunday, so conditions here for sports day are gonna be kind of on the wet side for a while next week, but we think we can make a go of it and still don't know the day as janet might call in later or wait till sunday when she goes back to work. sandy,ana,haley,angels

The heat is always welcome here. The winters are not that bad in NC but mom complains anytime the temperatures drop below 60F. She's always cold it seems. The summers here are kind of sticky but that does not bother mom--lots of humans cannot handle the heat with the humidity but we love it. Somewhat overcast here today and it looked like storms but then the clouds moved away. Hope your day has been great.

hello my buddy malachi and mom
how are you we are doing fine, things going good, mom got to work the weekend so not sure if get on or not, she gets really tired on the 3 nights of work, matter of fact after work Wednesday morning she couldn't even stay awake to get on the computer she went to bed slept all day! so that is why we are here now trying to catch up. mom/tigger says hello! love you two, if not get back on for a day or two hope you have a nice weekend! temps still in the 80's with rain here and there have a blessed day/ prayers to all who need/ hugs/kisses/headbonks/hamhock catnip/ angel marley/mom/wonderful tigger!

A cool, wet & breezy day at NICE H.Q.
I had planned on doing some blogging yesterday but my brother Zaboo wasn't feeling well so stayed cuddled on mom's lap almost the entire day. He was a BAD boy that was caught nibbling at Sammie dog's food & anyone that knows Zaboo knows he's not supposed to do that! I say we need to get kitty pawcuffs for him because he can open the dog's kennel,or any door if it doesn't get latched. Needless to say his tummy was upset the whole day & he was also barfy three times. He's doing fine today though & mom made sure the kennel is securely latched so he can't repeat his bad behavior again. What are we going to do with that boy? He's too smart for his own good at times & also stubborn as a mule! I've tried whacking him when I see him getting into things & so has Trixie but he yowls at us & stands up to his full height to show how big & bad he'll become if we continue to harass him! Talk about a brat...MOL!!! I hate it when he feels bad & always snuggle, clean & comfort him because he's my best kitty furiend but he definitely put a kink in my tail when he prevented me from blogging yesterday! Oh well...what's done is done & today is another day!

Joseph gets a HUGE paws up from me!! He caught a mouse that was trying to get inside yesterday. Pretty pawsome achievement for a kitty with very limited vision! It was really cute when he was done playing with it too. He carefully carried it to the porch (he'd been playing in the grass) & dropped it, then he climbed up to the window & meowed at mom...MOL! She went outside & loved on him while telling him what a good boy he was then gave him a can of FF as a reward! Gold star day for sweet Jo Jo yesterday!!!

Trixie & Fluffernut are being wild & crazy chasing each other, wrestling & boxing today. I just heard Trixie hiss so Fluffers must have made contact...MOL! Our Trixie may be a sweetheart but she's also got a lot of impish behavior & cyclonic action that comes out full force when she & Fluffers start romping! Fluffers is also quite the little imp herself but she's never gotten the best of our calico cyclone & probably never will since Trixie is the queen of chaos..MOL! Zaboo & I are lounging around not doing anything except for an occasional glare at our little sisters. YAWN...it's one of those days so will stop meowing at you now & get back to the serious business of napping...MOL!

I’m glad you liked yesterday’s story about Midnight & Stay Awhile. I love happy endings! Thank you so much for your furiendship and support!

Mom decided it was time to move the top of the cat carrier back onto the bottom half. She slid it on about ¼ of the way. Whitey & Orangie kept looking at it warily, but both kitties finished eating their breakfast without too much of a problem. Whitey sat with Mom for over an hour, just watching the sun start to rise. Orangie went back to the Igloo to sleep awhile longer. Mom felt progress was made today.

CHAIRS AND RUGS:
If you have to throw up, get to a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If there is no Oriental rug, shag is good. When throwing up on the carpet, make sure you back up so it is as long as a human’s bare foot or expensive clothing.

If one of your humans is engaged in some activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called "helping," otherwise known as "hampering." Following are the rules for "hampering:"

• When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and then picked up and comforted.

• For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book, unless you can lie across the book itself.

5 Tips for a Slimmer, Healthier Cat – (petmd.com)

Being a fat cat might seem cute, but it’s really not good for your feline’s health. If your kitty is a little chubby or beginning to look that way, we have some simple tips to guarantee a slender, healthier version in no time. And best of all, if you keep following these tips, you won't have to spend the big bucks it takes to feed a fat cat!

1. Diets Are Not All Equal
The cat is a strict carnivore. That means a diet mainly consisting of "fillers" (e.g., corn and rice), is just empty calories for kitty. Do a little light reading during your shopping expedition, and start paying attention to the cat food labels. Meat should always be one of the first ingredients. Better quality food means less filler and that means a more svelte cat.

2. Wet vs. Dry Debate
Some people swear by dry food, while others won’t touch it. Ultimately the choice is up to you, but you’ll find more and more experts are leaning towards the wet food end of the argument. Less filler, more water content, and a happier, thinner cat can all be yours.

3. Portion Control
Try not to "free feed" the cat. If the food is left out all day for the kitty to help herself to, then she’ll snack whenever she feels like it -- even when she’s not hungry. Engage the hunter instinct. Leave the food for 15 minutes. If there’s still food in the bowl, put it away in the fridge for dinnertime.

4. Exercise
Play with your cat! Get her to run around and chase string, toy mice, laser lights (cats love them!), balls, and other fun toys. We don’t recommend taking kitty for walks unless she’s the type who enjoys it, though. But just 20 minutes of play a day can make up for it. Not only will this keep kitty from being bored and depressed, but it keeps her mind sharp.

5. No Table Scraps
People food is for people, not cats! Those little morsels are similar to us scarfing down a pizza. So, curtail table scraps from your cat's diet, and those treats designed for cats down to a minimum. But if Princess absolutely cannot go without her treats, try to find healthy options in the natural or holistic section of your pet store.

So there you have it. 5 simple tips to keep your cat in tip-top shape.

what big babies some men are!
especially in this house master was babied way to much and isn't finding any pitty, but has to have lots of help in getting things done including getting dressed, getting up from the chairs and the like, all due to his swollen right wrist which is sprained. the other stuff doesn't bother him and his swearing and ouching is getting on our nerves! grrrr!!!! we were into the lower 80s here yesterday and didn't get one boomer! that might change today and tomorrow through sunday now, so doesn't look like a nice holiday weekend here and inside thing and not outside. what other kitty, didn't have a chance to look or notice and it was good you had a good time! sandy,ana,haley,angels

Our Delhi trip
We left for Delhi on the 5th and returned on the 12th. It was hot and dusty there. Temperatures were around 42 C [40=104 F], but we were lucky as now it has risen to 45, 46. In our apartment there the fans had stopped working, as well as other cooling systems. I slept in a puddle in the bathroom, Minty got wet sheets to sleep on, and Mom bought a table fan. She had to rush around in the heat to get various things done. I was very upset on 11th, when the packers had taken away everything, I went through the house yowling. After all I was born there. Mom had lived there 18 years.
But by the morning we were just so happy to get into a cool, airconditioned taxi, that we did not think of anything else. We left early as the transporter was supposed to reach here early 12th morning, but they missed that slot and because of city no-entry rules during the day for trucks, got here at 10.30 at night—unloading till midnight.
We still haven’t unpacked much. Minty has opened all the cartons, but Mom says she’s in no hurry.
Things are different here. Though its summer and local people complain of the heat, it hardly feels hot to us. I just love my new enclosure and spend most of the day there.

The temperature was high 55 & low was 41 this morning, now it's 52 with humidity 71% & wind is 18 MPH SSW. Thursday's suppose to be Showers & High 58.

♥ On Monday morning, 5/20, momfolded 3 loads of laundry, then she mowed the back yard while dad loaded his truck with scrap wood to haul away. When mom was done she then helped dad with the second load of wood then they were going thru piles of metal, wire, nuts, bolts, etc to put in separate piles for the scrap yard and the garbage dump. That was a long hard and hot day!!!!

♥ On Tuesday, mom got a phone call from Pet Food Stamps letting mom know they received the proper paper work and will contact mom once they verify it all to let her know if we qualify. Mom's xcited about it!!!!

♥ This morning, after mom gave me my anxiety pill then fed me my Fancy Feast can food with MiraLax mixed in it, I ate it all up like I normally do then I went potty. Mom scooped out the litter boxes then when she came into dad's room to give Sassee 10605 her Dasuquin pills and seen someone got barfy on the floor and knew it was me cuz it was Fancy Feast and dry food. Mom checked me out and said to just rest which I do anytime I don't feel well. I did come out once this afternoon to get a few bites of the dry food then went back to dad's bed to sleep more.
