My favorite tricks and treats are: I will fetch waded up pieces of paper, hair bands, balls, cardboard beer coasters and bring them back for my Mom or Dad to throw again. I can catch things in the air too. That's an advantage I have with my big feet (Polydactyl extra toes)!
I drink running water from the faucet. Sometimes Mom will fill up the bathroom sink with water. I'll wade right down into the water and drink from it. I also play in the water, pawing at the water and splashing it around. I'll do the same thing at our lake house on Cayuga Lake. I wade right down into the lake water and play with the pebbles under the water and the leaves that float on top of the water. Fun!
Where I hang out: I love sitting in the window watching the birds and squirrels. I especially love hanging around outside when Mom takes me out on my harness and leash/long rope.
My favorite grubs: My favorite is the juice from a can of tuna! I also like my dry food but I absolutely love my Fancy Feast canned tuna that my Mom sometimes gives me. Yum!
My pet peeves: I am a "Polydactyl"! I have extra toes on both my front and back feet so my Mom has to trim my claws on those toes because I have a hard time doing it myself. Dad holds me while Mom does the clipping. I let out a low grumble the whole time! I don't really like it when Mom clips my nails, but I put up with it because I know it needs to be done. Besides, to tell you the truth - I love it when Dad holds me. MOL!
What I love about my owners: Mom spoils me rotten!! She plays with me and feeds me. My favorite part is crawling under the covers at night and curling up on top of her. She pets me to sleep while I purr. I love the way Dad always invents new games to play with me. He's fun to follow around because he's always doing someting interesting!
My cat hobbies: I love to play. I especially love to wake up my parents early on the weekend mornings when they're trying to sleep late. I bring my toys into bed and jump around on the bed playing until someone either plays with me or gets up to feed me. My favorite game is "shoot the hair tie". Mom or Dad will shoot a hair tie (band) across the floor and I love to chase after it. I'll even jump in the air to catch them as they fly by!
Pet motto: Cats are better than any vice. They're not fattening, dangerous, or expensive. However, they can be addictive. Cats will give you unconditional love and all they ask for in return is a little food and your love...

How We Met
My birthday is March 29, 2010. My Adoption Day is July 3, 2010.
I was adopted from Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Greater Rochester (New York) during the Independence Day Holidays (that's why I'm named "Sparkles" - after the sparkles that shoot off from the end of Sparkler fireworks). My cute picture on the LollyPop Farm website drew attention to me. It's a good thing Mom and Dad asked to see me (based on the picture they saw of me on the website) because I was hidden below a bunch of frisky kittens. I'm not sure they would have SEEN me!! It was love at first purr when my new mother put me on her lap! Then she saw my extra thumbs and just knew I was SPECIAL. I'm so glad Mom and Dad adopted me. It turns out I was pretty sick and they didn't know it. I had trouble keeping anything down (even water)! I was little to begin with and then I was losing weight! They took me to the Vet where I was given a shot to hydrate me. It hurt so bad! Mom and Dad even teared up when they heard me cry. After some meds and some extra special TLC from Mom and Dad, I came back to life and I'm STILL enjoying my kittenhood!

Please vote Rosie #252822 for COTD on Monday, 5/20
Recently a cat loving family had their red female cat, Angel Rhuby cross over the Rainbow Bridge. The cat mom of this family decided she would like to adopt another red female and as luck would have it, there was Rosie at the Petsmart Adoption Center. Rosie #252822 and her new mom bonded instantly and Rosie came to her new home that day. Rosie was at the shelter for over two months and was a bit wild. She didn't like being kept in a cage and would fight with the shelter workers when they tried to put her back in her cage. This was a big reason why Rosie #252822 wasn't adopted sooner; she was scared and the people looking at her were not patient with her until her new mom came along. Now at her new home Rosie #252822 is a cuddle cat with her daddy and loves to play with her brother Yogi. She gets along with the rest of her furry siblings and is a happy cat. Rosie #252822 will not eat dry food but she will eat any kind of wet food. She doesn't like dry treats either! Rosie loves to play with her furry mouse and the laser light. Rosie #252822 is happily spoiled now in her new home and we are very happy she has found a wonderful loving home. Rosie would be so honored to have a COTD badge to display on her page. This sweet kitty joined the angels in February 2013 after losing his battle with complications that developed after being hit by a car the month before. He’d survived having both legs broken & surgery, but was unable to walk & had to drag himself to the litterbox. He was very brave & stayed a very sweet boy during all of the pain, infections, examinations & becoming a foster; but the angels knew that his life would not be a full one with his disabilities & thus called him home. Please pounce by to paw ANGEL CRASH #248838 a vote today so that his foster mom will have a fond memory to cherish & so that this sweet angel can earn the honor of making his star the most brilliant in the night sky tomorrow night.

Hi Sparkles,
How are you Girlfriend? It's your Buddy, Koda. Hope all is well on your end. Mommy has been so busy. She's also on Bird Channel and her 4 Birds are on it. Mom has an English Budgie named Parker, a White Face Cockatiel named Apache, a Meyer's Parrot named Cheyenne and a rescued Rose Breasted Cockatoo, named Oz. Oz has always been Mommy's dream Bird and there she was being advertized in the local paper. But that's a whole other story. Mom is also going through some medical problems. She has Arthritis from her neck down to her feet. She has to go to the Orthopedic Dr. next week cause it's getting worse in her shoulder, plus she had muscle spasms and tendenidis there also and it was painful. Her left foot and ankle have been hurting worse than usual & sure enough she found out she has an old fracture on her ankle and a chipped bone & a spur on her foot. Now she just found out today that she has a large mass on her thyroid and has to go to a Specialist. Mom says when it rains it always seems to pour. She's a little upset but trying to stay positive. Hope you and your Family are all doing well. Do you like living in that beautiful cabin? I think you said your Mom & Dad are retired? Mommy is on Social Security Disability and says she doesn't know how she got done what she does now when she was working full time! Okay, guess that's enough for now. End of a Week of Errors 5/10
~~ I won’t do a recap of those but I will point out that no one except UBB found the BIG one Hot Rod pulled yesterday. All I’ll say is… those in the cart barn did not belong there. You can duke it out with H.R. later if you find him. It’s okay UBB let Hot Rod finish the stale Heinecat beer and chippy chips spilled behind the sofa while he hid in case the Golf Bully heard of the error.
No going back to find it until we finish today’s game and summary, please?
Heinicat? Did some cat yell Heinecat? Here she comes with her Weiner Cart and a keg of the cool brew to go with the biscuits & gravy. Engine hits a strong 61.
That 61 happens to be the same score lover-tom Steve is crooning to himself and a fish under the trees. While ASH claims her cool & wet score of 53 is disappointing. I guess so! The only shorter whack today comes from UBB with 47. It’s sad to hear a grown up, old cat “boo-hoo” all the way to the beer keg. For mewing out loud, UBB, it’s Long Drive Day!!
It’s kinda strange but there are more twin scores today. Boule & Ollie who are offering Catty Shackers an all expenses paid trip to Florida to play 18 holes of golf (Ugh… count me out). Boule strikes a hot 63. You can see those coolcats afterward to book your flight and a luxury hotel. A matching 63 belongs to Tucker who had such a good time hiding from thunder he’s going off again today. Bye-bye, Tuck.
An unusual golf buddy/fantasy occurred down in the water at the 7th hole when Bee Gee who managed a 52 brought her own submarine and Pig to monitor her score. Not nearly so weird-- for a change, Miss Mellow Mallow also scored 52 and seems to be feeling the effects of her purrsonal ‘nip.
Let’s see…as I look through the scorecards I only see one, no two more players. The lovely Lapaloozed LiLi arrives in Whie with lavender and violets. And, what happened? Did I blink or what? She’s using a crutch covered in lavender glitter--a crutch” and a 65 score? Did you hurt yourself, dear Overdresseda LiLi? Tripping on all those glittery outfits?
Here’s the last score which is either a mystery or an error… now there are no errors today so… I go for the first choice: Mimi put the score of g4 on her card. Does not compute… so that puts Mimi and Boo-hoo UBB out in the cart barn together. Figure it out yourselves.

Oh boy! Congratulations on your new home and we hope you both are having lots of fun exploring and checking out all the new things and creatures around you outside.
Thank you for the congratulations and good wishes on my COTD honor. It was a fun day for me and best of all I'm getting to visit with furry friends that we haven't meowed with in a while, like you & Dasher.
I hope you and your family, especially your sweet momma are doing fine and that you are all getting settled. Mom hasn't been able to em your mom yet and every time she thinks she's going to, something comes up, like my COTD win. Oh and she's a bad mom anyway since she didn't even remember it was my birthday until she noticed some visits on my page.

♥From Lola´s Kitty Desk...♥
Good evening dearest Sparkles & Dasher!!
My Mom is definitely runing my social life. MOL! Yes, my mischievous Mommy is always telling me she has to do this, she has to do that... She needs to understand she is MY secretary and that I need her to write my kitty blogs!! I´m happy she´s home this evening. I just jumped over her lap to make sure she is really going to write my letters. (Tee-hee!).
We had a nice weekend. Our parents visited a marriage of Peruvian friends as the lady was celebrating her birthday. Mom told us they had a great time and she kept on talking about all the yummy food in the pawty. Too bad we didn´t get any of it.
The weather was lovely and sunny although it rained on Saturday night. After the rain we noticed about some little bugs in our food dishes. Mommy said they were ants and that they come with the humid weather. Sally and me saw them and started to meow load to alert Mom. We wanted them away from OUR food. Momma was not happy about them either. She changed our food and moved our dishes to another place. Then she washed the floor with a nasty fluid and told us they were gone for good.
Mom and Dad are looking forward to Wednesday when they will be off work since we´re celebrating Labor´s Day.
I hope you all have a super purrfect Monday. I send you a huge bunch of kitty kisses and hugs...

Oh, I bet your Mom and Dad cook just fine. I'm glad that you had a great Easter. (Yes, I'm behind on answering my blogs, as usual).
And to answer your question, yes, I am a Maine Coon mix. I have the tufts in my ears and toes and I have big feet. Mom calls me Little Big Foot. Although, Mom met a Pure Bred Maine Coon the other day and he makes me look like a little peanut. He is huge!
I hope you and Dasher are having a great weekend. We are glad that it has finally warmed up. We had a foot of snow on Tuesday but today it is melted and is 60 degrees.

a votey & a BIG purr...
Hi Sparkles & Dasher
I know your family is busy with moving and you cats get to go to your mew home without all that snow around it. Spring is in the air and that means plenty of water, Sparkles!
We have an all mew tiled huge shower in the bathroom where my old shower was. It took nearly 8 weeks to do everything. Truth be told, I miss my old, smaller, plastic shower with the glass door. This mew shower has no door. I like to watch the water fall on mom and go in after to help the water go down the drain. But. it's just not the same... I just got quality time in the bathroom sink while mom was brushing her teeth.. fun and fresh water sipping... ya know? What kind of bathroom do you have there? Water piping?
We are having wonderful rain tonight. I love going out and running in the rain... of course.

4/19 Lovely Putting Day...
......... except for all those darn bats that Darn BG let loose around here.
And then it seem some members are confused and think we are golfing not with the proper clubs, but with batting bats.
For instance: there came Miss Mallow, tardy but with a good excuse. She went to see Pushkin in Ireland to borrow his hurling bat. Got back in time for a try and a 45. Oh well...so much for Ireland. How about a shelaighlee next time?
Also, our questionable golf club users are Boule and his ever-helpful, goofy catty, Ollie.
In their confusion about bats Ollie pawed a driver over to Boule... alas, another 45. It's putting day dudes, that means we use our putters. Oh well... *sigh*
Bats were bothering Mimi early this a.m. Not what bat to bat the club with but the darn bats flying around and blocking her view. Good fur you, Mimi scoring a couple of smacked bats and a too high for today score of 65.
Mimi has a good question: why are the bats flying around now in the daylight, huh, BG?
BG steps onto the putting green and claims to be feeling a bit hung over, although she putts in a lovely 50. Nice work there. Now do something about these bats, pleease?
Consider Sandy's fate... she saw rats this morning before getting here. Please, no rats on the putting green, okay? Keep them in the roasting bin or the hot dog hot rat machine in the clubhouse..
UBB just dances all around claiming Spring has really sprung with his purrfectly round 60.
Speaking of round... we see Steve has scored a nicely rounded 68. He seems totally self-involved (anything mew?) fondling the roundness of his numbers... go figure.
Our pawty girl, N-gin, breezes onto the course claiming sheer happiness today with a putt of 66,, also very round. Look out there, N-gin! Steve is sneaking up on your very round twins.
Oh, and did I say pawty? Here's our very own COTD Tucker who climbs off of his hovercart, waddles... or is that wobbles (?) to swing his putter. A score to match Steve's 68. No, no Steve! You cannot hold onto Tucker's round numbers. Get a head start to the Clubhouse because Tuck is standing s for the first round. Then it's off to his place for a continuation of the doubly round pawty for COTD.
I'm sure everyone is just dying to know who'e going to plug in the carts before today's parking lot races?
It's a tie of 14 between Steve and Tucker. But since Tucker's COTD, no cart duty! He's getting our drink orders right now. Off you go Steve... try out that hovercart!

Mommy says she is afraid this is going to be a C&P. She wants to thank everyone for all the cards and prayers she received over the last 2 weeks. It has meant a lot to her. Yesterday she saw radiologist and they are now ready to contact insu. co to get permission to start radiation. They said it would probably be next week before they get permission. Each radioactive injection is over $2000 so they then have to order the injections. Mom will find out next week when they get permission when they are starting. In the meantime they said mom can return to work until the injections start.

And there was a thunderstorm last night. Poor Kaylin jumped when it thundered. She had to have heard thunder before - they have thunderstorms in Baltimore. Oh, well, hopefully she'll get over being a "fraidy cat". Glad you had a fun COTD. Thank you for all your support. I really appreciate you hitting my votey button every day. It makes me so happy to see all you come by and meow to me.
I had told you of the two upcoming shows on the schedule so fair for the 2012-2013 season. Now the only shows scheduled for the 2013-2014 season are. Oct 5 Palm Springs and Dec 28-29 in Las Vegas Riviera Hotel. I know someday I’ll go to Las Vegas. I wonder if I’m old enough to gamble. Kitty needs more toys. MOL Shows are still being scheduled so that is why mom always tries to stay on top of it. OK sometimes she misses a show. Silly mommy.
In case you were wondering, the cage size is usually 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 27 inches high. One cat or two kittens are allowed per cage. Some shows have a “double cages” which are partitioned into two single cages. In this arrangement a single cage is 26 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. A double cage (extra charge) is 54 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 22 inches high. No more than one cat or two kittens may be benched in the same cage.
The cage covers must cover two sides and back. It is recommended that the top and bottom is covered as well.
The covering for the cage is to prevent your cat from seeing its neighbors. People who show regularly have spectacular curtains and decorations for their cages. I have a towel for my bottom of the cage but sometimes I just use an extra curtain to make my area extra fancy. MOL

Sibling Day? Golfers Day?! 4/10/13
Lucky me, I get to celebrate by coming to watch my delightful sibling wreck havoc on the golf course. Looks like they’re not tired of singing yet, good thing I brought the ear plugs.
First off today we have Steve, paying homage to the legendary highway with his 66 (=12), followed by Haley, who registers a 48, which is also a 12. Following up is Mimi who is also getting her kicks with her 66 (another 12!) Stop the madness!
Finally something different as Legendary Leapin’ LiLi bounces onto the scene wishing us all a “Good Morning …” in her powder blue sundress and parasol, registering a 60 (=6). Not bad! The score, I mean.
Tucker putts a 63 (=9) and goes off to the clubhouse for some catnip tea, followed by Engine who contributes sardine crackers to the mix (carefully wiping off the pocket lint first, we hope). She gives us a 61 (=7)
Holy Happy Day! It’s the Dynamic Duo, singing their way to a 72 (=9).
And here comes UBB, checking to see if I’m paying attention. Well, I’m always paying attention! I see you trying to fake me out with a practice score from yesterday afternoon, can’t get one past me. I live with Mallow after all! UBB also has a song in his heart and makes everything Grooo – vy with a 48 (yet another 12! It’s contagious!)
Sparkles is trying to make the rain go away with her 45 (=9). Didn’t work, huh?
Next up is Bee Gee, who informs us it’s Golfers Day (a much better thing to celebrate than siblings!) and gives us a 48 (yipes, another 12!)
Then, dragging her wet rump out of the boat she rowed down the road to get here (say that three times fast) Mallow quacks her way to a 46 (=10)
Finally, we welcome back Armani who, inspired by his catty’s miniskirt, comes in with a 51 (=6) What a great way to come back!
The result of all this number soup? The drum roll, please:
1st - Lyrical LiLi and classy Armani, can’t beat their 6’s today, golfers! Now LiLi, keep those sticky frogs out of our martinis, okay?
2nd - Sardine slingin’ Engine with her 7
3rd – a tie between Tucker and the Dynamic Duo, who both come in with a 9.
There sure must be a lot of carts that need charging today! Stand back as all those holding the big number 12 (must have been a sale on them at Costco!) stampede to the cat barn where it’s at least dry: Steve, Haley, Mimi, UBB and BeeGee share the charging duties tonight. They’re having their own party in there, but we have the catnip tea and sardine crackers!

Good evening dearest ♥ Sparkles & Dasher!!
I´m so glad to read you and your sister had such a wonderful time celebrating your birthday and COTD!! So... Your Mom and Dad baked a ham!! How nice. Just thinking of it makes me purr, I can understand why little Dasher had his eyes on the ham!!
Mom will be busy over the next couple of days as she will be working double shift at the Hospital. I would like to hiss to her boss, since I don´t like when she comes home late. MOL!!
I´m now making sure she helps me to write my kitty letters because I know she will not have much free time left later.
It was pretty cold this morning when we woke up. Mr.Sun was shining but it was windy. Sally and me were napping until late and then Mom gave us some tuna treats she bought on her way back from work. They were yummy.
Mom´s Grandma is staying home with us during this month and that means we are never alone. In fact, we have Grandma and Great Grandma to spoil us 24 hours a day. Tee-hee!! I like curling up over Great Grandma´s lap while she seats and watches TV. She rubs my ears and I purr.

Hi Sparkles
I am doing pawsome today. Mom has TV on and I was snuggling with her on the couch, but now she is on her computer.
It is raining outside today. Mom opened the back door for us to see, so now we don't want to go outside. We do not want to get wet. I hate when that happens.
Yesterday was a nicer day, it got to 59* and it was partly sunny, but it was very very windy and mom was afraid our power was gonna go out. We got to go out and that wind messed up my fur.
Mom got us some new catfood, it is Friskies Good Mornings. We liked it, but we don't usually do breakfast, we eat dry all day and wet for dinner, mom just wanted to see if we would eat it.
I'm off to take a much needed rainy day nap. Have a pawsome afternoon!

'stuff' has been happening around here! So much,that I am way behind on my blogs! First,thanks on the well wishes for mom's mother...she is now out of rehab as of this past Wednesday,and at home. Then mom spent a lot of time deleting pages and making mew ones...the woman just can't make up her mind! Changes were also made in the cat enclosure! Dad shut off the down stairs part so he could plant some grass in it,but the boys are NOT happy about it! Brother Dixion is no longer confined to the enclosure,as he was so unhappy,he was getting very depressed and aggressive to the others,so mom let him out. Andy(inside boy) kept dashing out the door so much that mom let him GO!,because she feared he would trip her or dad up trying to escape! Now,we live out in the country,and WAY off the road,otherwise mom would never have let them out. Now,about little Moses,the new kitten dad rescued...mom convinced dad that it would be best to find him a good home...other than ours! WHY? Mom really worries about having so many kitties, that if anything ever happened to her or dad,we(shudder)would wind up in a shelter. Most of us are not so young anymore,so you know what THAT would mean,(another Shudder!) I AGREE with mom...no more kits here!! Second,mom has an appointment with an orthopedic doc,as it seems she might have a torn meniscus in her right knee. She has had that surgery on the left,so knows the drill! a votey & a BIG purr...
Hi Sparkles
What's up? Water mews? our tank is still empty and the lazy old mom has not set up the ceramic fountain yet. We are still drinking out of the plastic bowls in the bathroom and the kitchen... boring. I try but it is impossible to climb into them. I am waiting for the daily shower time. Last time I just stayed in the mew shower while mom got the water warm and even after she got in! She was splashing around too much for me so I waited until she got out before I stepped back in to lick the floor dry.
She does run the sink water for me but I often just curl up in there and somehow my body acts as a plug... I get sopping wet ALL over the room when I jump out. I want a bigger bathroom sink. mom asked the workers for one but they said it would not fit. Oh, well...

Uh-oh, what are you climbing on? Mr. Sniff does that, too. He always climbs on things - book shelves, dressers, counters. Even the top of the fridge sometimes. And mom gets VERY nervous, cuz he's SO big and SO heavy, she worries he'll break a leg jumping down. That cat really is an accident looking for a place to happen.
Thanks for the comment about my outlaw picture. Mom was just waiting til after Easter to post that! Bee Gee had the great Easter picture, but I have a killer "anything" picture!
Rainy here today. So mom is in working on a few blogs. What she REALLY wants to do is go read. *yuck* So I'll give her a break and let her off the hook - for now! You all have a great weekend!

When I saw it was your BD so close,I thought...poop.Well,I didn't REALLY think of poop-you know-kind of gross,but I thought crap..no,not that either. How about....darn! oh..mom is feeling better..finally..well..she's keeping her paws crsossed anyway..but she did go to that human v-e-t and all ehr tests came back "normal" and was told to just let things "run it's course"..geesh...she's glad her fever is finally going away though..that wipes her out!
mom said to tell your mom she sent her an em a while ago but may have sent it to her "other" em addy..
gosh..were you hiding from all those humans packing up your things? looks like a pretty safe place to me..teehee..
our weather has been beautiful the past few days..gosh..i can't believe it! we have been out side helping mom plan a new garden area..well..mom worked and i watched..what? me work? no way! i can't wait til tomorrow..it's going to be even nicer!
i hope it's worming up for all of you...we had a quiet easter..with mom not feeling well, we didn't go anywhere..i hope you all had a nice easter weekend...

You're most welcome, sweet furr friend. We're thrilled that you had your special day in the spotlight. Mom is finally off from work but she has a bunch of stuff to do at the house. Dad brought someone out to look at some repairs at the house yesterday while mom was at work and mom almost fainted when dad told her this. The house is ghetto since mom has been gone since Sunday and she cannot believe that some human actually came into the house while in the current shape. He probably won't wanna return....MOL.]
Rainy and cold out...we're so done with winter. Mom is itching to get started outside and it hasn't been warm enough lately. Tell your mom that mom will send her an email soon....she's just trying to catch up. Hope that Dasher is feeling fine again. Happy Thursday.

Yes the other kitty is here, to my dismay. It is still an 'outside' kitty right now so I can handle that. I still watch him and if he gets too close to my window then I hiss really long and do my 'haunted house' growl. (At least that's what mom says it sounds like. Most of the time I just ignore him although I will admit to you that I do occasionally slip over to the window if no one is watching and look for him. Don't tell Mom though. Anyway, I have a reprieve until mom and dad get back from their trip. They leave about the middle of April for a week then the kitty still has to go to the vet to make certain he is healthy before he comes in my house.
Oh, and on top of that, I head mom tell dad that my friend Murphy will be staying with us next week, all week. But he is always in his room so I just act like I don't know he is here. He's just a little kid anyway younger than two.
I bet it is a mess being caught up in all that moving business. I remember when moved to this house and I did not find it fun. But after everyone leaves and its just you and your family it can be fun cause there are still lots of investigation to be done and you will finally have a chance to really scope out all the great places before Dasher finds them so you have hiding places. Well, mom says I must sign off. She is shutting down the computer because she stayed on it too long last night and then had trouble sleeping so she is determined not to let it happen tonight.
It's great to be back in touch again. Give Dasher a Hi Five from me.

You know, it truly pains me to say this, but part of the reason the Hairballz are the best is BECAUSE Dasher rides with us. The little twerp is doing a pretty good job, I think you raised him well.
