I was purring and purring to receive kitty mail from you! I sure missed you much! Mom and I hope from the bottom of our hearts your Mommy had a wonderful Mother´s Day. Here in Argentina we celebrate Mother´s Day in October.

Oh! Your parents are going to adopt a new kitty! Although I understand your point, having a sissy to play can be very funny, Win. I wasn´t happy when Sally came home either, she did not hiss at me because she was a small kitten, but she jumped over me and wanted to catch my tail! My precious tail! She thought it was some kind of snake and more I moved it, more she wanted to catch it.
Anyway, I can´t imagine my life without her now. We are best friends, you know. I think you and Domino will be best friends too.

Mom will be praying for your Daddy hoping everything goes well with his surgery. We´re sending him tons of love.

It´s raining outside but it´s not very cold. I´m watching through the window while Mom writes my kitty letters. The cars pass by with their lights over the avenue and people walks with their umbrellas. We tried to blog yesterday but CC was super slow.

Dad gave my Mom a new BlackBerry cell phone a couple of days ago and she´s been chasing us with its camera! She loves taking pictures of us. MOL! Mom tells not to close my eyes when she´s about to take a photo of me. Tee-hee!
Last night she caught me yawning in my kitty bed; I meowed at her to let her know a lady must be ready for a photo!

We´re waiting for Grandma to come back from work and have supper together. We´ll be helping Mom to cook in a little while.

My Dear Fur Friend ♥ Winston...
We had a windy and quite cold day in Buenos Aires and I have been trying to stay over Mom´s lap as much as possible. Momma says I´m very chilly and that´s true, I have to say.
I don´t like when the floor is cold and I complain about it all the time. Mom puts me over my blanket or over her bed but I purr when I jump over her lap. She says autumn always has a couple of cold days and lots of rains. MOL!
Momma went to the Pets Shop after work and bought our dry food, she also brought Sally and me some chicken and cheese treats. She told us we can´t have them all at once, but I´ve seen where she keeps them: they are in a pink box over one of the kitchen counters.
Sally and me went on a special mission to sniff it and it is well locked. I wonder if there´s any way to open it without Mommy´s help... Tee-hee! I will have to think about it.

I hope you have a super purrfect Monday and a wonderful week. I send you tons of sandpaper kisses and warm hugs.

♥ Thank you for Honoring my little PAPPOOSE #10366 with making her win her First Forever Sleep COTD today 4/25/2013!!!

♥ It's true to what you say about how fast the year went, but not to me!!! It seems like Pappoose has been gone way longer than only a year!!! Yes, I have wonderful memories of my little girl.

♥ Pappoose was a very Ladylike girl as when walking in the grass she would walk with such grace that it looked like she tip toed through the grass. She was a petite girl and had several friends and family who also fell in love with her. Yes, my sweet Pappoose captured many hearts♥ not just here at home, but also our CC friends!!! She never got on the counters and rarely on the kitchen table. She was the best well-mannered kitty!!!

♥ When Pappoose first became an inside girl, Rhoamin 2921 took her in being the greatest fur brother to her. He played with her and they got along so well. Heck, Pappoose got along with all the kitties xcept for Sassee 10605 and Callie 239447. Those two bullied her til she was terrified. She wasn't too keen being around our dog Carly, but she put up with her.

♥ MEMORIES, Yes, I have beautiful and fun memories playing with and loving the sweetest little girl a momma could want!!! We also miss our other friends who went to their Forever Sleep in the matter of days like Anna 50686; Callie 89317 & Baby 8574.

HONORING PAPPOOSE KNIGHT'S FOREVER SLEEP♥

♥ My little PAPPOOSE #10366 came to our back yard about October 2006 (a few months) after my Six's 10139 Forever Sleep in July 2006. PAPPOOSE was no more than 6 months old when she first started coming here. She was curious about the back room as I called her to come in. After a few trips of coming inside, I decided she was going to stay and be an inside girl. She became my next favorite baby and she eventually became my shadow.

♥ She was Honored to become COTM QUEEN of HEARTS♥ of February 2012. We both enjoyed doing her Catpaign, too, and met so many new friends as well as old ones!!!

♥ Come April 4, 2012 she became very sick so I got her in to see Dr. Nancy that day. They did bloodwork which she was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia. With the help of so many CC friends, I was able to get the other 7 inside kitties in to be tested on 4/12, but Thankfully they all tested Negative!!! PAPPOOSE was re-tested again on 4/14 and still tested Positive.

♥ The days went by and PAPPOOSE'S health continued to deteriate. When she was no longer able to get around, I had to make that hard decision to have a Mobile Vet come to our home to help PAPPOOSE with her Forever Sleep on April 24, 2012!!! She went so quickly from the time she tested Positive on 4/14 and ended her precious life on 4/24 at a young age of 6 years old!!!

♥ To this day, I still have a hard time with missing my SPECIAL girl and still get teary-eyes!!! Well, I could go on and on, but I know I don't have the writing space here. Thank you all for your loving prayers.

1329 ~ UPDATE: WHYSKRS POST SURGERY ~

The temperature was high 55 & low was 38 this morning, now it's 51 with humidity 80% & wind is 6 MPH N. Tuesday's suppose to be Mostly Cloudy & High 63.

Hi friends, it's me again, WHYSKRS KNIGHT!

♥ Mom wouldn’t feed me in the wee hours this morning when I pawed and meowed at the kitchen door! She wouldn’t even feed the other indoor kitties! Did she think by starving us that we will lose weight? MOL! Come to find out mom stuffed me in a carrier then carried me out to the truck and buckled me in. On our way to The Veterinary Hospital I meowed to mom in my soft voice several times and she told me I was going to be fine!

♥ After waiting awhile to see Dr. Nancy first. I weighed in at 20 pounds which means surprisingly to mom, I had lost 1.2 pounds since 2/25/2013! Dr. Nancy said my ears looked pretty good and no fever. She told mom that she was going to do my Dental work and Dr. Liz was going to do my growth removal surgery. She also told mom I was not getting a bath as it would be too much stress on my body.

♥ I was so happy to see mom when she came to get me! Dr. Liz and Staff said I was a good boy after waking up and did well. My blood work was good as well as my and with no xtractions. They did the biopsy and should hopefully know something next week. Dr. Liz says she doesn't think it's cancerous.

♥ I am anxiously waiting for FOOD! MOL! I haven't eaten since 10:00 Sunday night!

♥ Mom took 3 pictures of me today and you can see them in my gallery plus she changed my profile photo.

♥ Thank you for your prayers for me today! Rhoamin 2921 will return tomorrow evening!

Hi friends, it's me again, SASSEE KNIGHT!

♥ Dr. Liz called Friday evening and told mom that my bloodwork and urinalysis tests results were FANTASTIC (Dr. Liz's word!)! She also told mom that I can have 0.4ml of the pain medicine (Buprenorphine) up to three times in one day so mom gave me another dose of 0.2ml last night at bedtime. That's all mom gives me as she doesn't think I need 0.4 (yet).

♥ Mom has noticed that I am feeling a little better today as I'm a bit more active of being in the front room rather than dad's dark bedroom. I even laid on the couch next to mom while she watched tv this morning. I hardly ever lay next to her on the couch! She lightly massaged my front legs and tummy rubs.

♥ I won't be back tomorrow evening as WHYSKRS 10378 will have a SPECIAL request for you all! I do Thank you for your wonderful prayers for me and your loving support! You are such sweet friends and we love you!

♥ Mom finally received a little book in the mail this afternoon called "I Could Pee On This" through her Fresh Step Litter Paw Points that she used late January.

Hi friends, it's me, SASSEE KNIGHT and I'm back!

♥ Dr Liz, Mom and Debbie (Vet Assist.) said I was a good girl and I even purred cuz mom was there kissing my head which I love! Dr. Liz pulled on my front legs so they could get the xrays then I fought them trying to pull my legs back as it really hurt me. My xrays showed no bone cancer, but lots of Arthritis. The result is Degenerated Arthritis Desease. Dr. Liz took two xrays and charged for only one plus did a Antech Pre-op Profile with a CBC and Urinalysis. Mom is to continue to give me the pain medicine (Buprenorphine). I will be getting some kind of Arthritis medicine, too, in a treat form.

♥ I did weigh in at 19 pounds which I gained a few ounces since 3/13/2013. I'm not active at all so that's why the weight gain. Dr. Liz said that I'm only a couple pounds over and not five like she said on my last visit. I'm big boned and a big kitty like my half-brother Rhoamin 2921!

♥ Mom is now waiting for a phone call from Dr. Liz for the bloodwork and urinalysis results so I will be back to visit you on Saturday with more news!

♥ Well, mom just had to take a couple new pictures of me while I was waiting to see Dr. Liz and added them in my gallery plus mom changed my profile photo this afternoon!

We just seen your message on Sylvester's page and was surprised to hear from you! He's doing great now!
Mom and dad did have a nice 34th Anniversay back in February!
So if that stray kitty looks alot like Sylvester only with long hair then he would look more like Pappoose?

Hello dear ♥ Winston J!! It´s wonderful to hear from you!! Our big sissy Lola says she sends you tons of whisker kisses and hugs and that she misses meowing with you!! How have you been?...

Thank you for coming to our page to celebrate our COTD and our birthday with us!! Two years ago we were all alone and now we have our own home, a family and lots of friends all over the world to share our lives with.

We loved each one of the toys, treats, birthday wishes and kind words. They made our day super special. Mom and both of us were thrilled this morning to find our faces in the COTD window. Please, come to our home to celebrate with us. We´re having a huge pawty with all sort of goodies!!

Hi Winston J. my dear sweet friend. It is so good to hear from you!

Thanks for the congratulations! We sure have had a lot of partying going on over here lately. First my birthday, then the surprise COTD win and finally Easter. Whooo Hoooo it sure has been fun! Thanks for celebrating with me!

I hope you had a great Easter. Mom and Dad fumbled together in the kitchen (neither one of them are good cooks MOL!). They baked a ham, sweet potatoes and some kind of a vegetable casserole thingy. There's lots of leftovers. My brother Dasher has his eye on the ham.

Is that new kitty inside or outside? I can't believe "it" is still around! I guess you'll get used to him like I got used to Dasher. He bugs me sometimes but I guess he's okay.

We are in the process of moving into the log cabin. We just sold our townhouse and are packing and moving now. I'm a big help with the move. I investigate every box before Mom packs it MOL! Dad is still in the process of putting in the final details at the log home. It looks like one big cat tree to me!!

Hey Winston J,

Long time, no meow. Mom and Dad had a good time in Las Vegas. The only problem was, Dad caught a terrible bug while they were out there and then he very generously shared it with Mom! She's still trying to kick it! Other than that, things are going well. The townhouse has been sold! That means we'll be moving to the log home some time in April. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. You know how it is with "change" and us kitties.

Guess what happened today? Two big burly guys came by the townhouse. They walked around with a big tape measure and wrote down stuff on a clipboard. Mom told me later they were doing a survey map, whatever that is. Mom says it has something to do with the sale of our townhouse. Anyhoo, they were in the back yard taking a measurement by our sliding glass doors. Of course I ran down there to see what was going on. Don't you know that one of those big guys saw me staring at him? And do you know what he did? He said "Hey Kitty, Kitty, Kitty". I totally did not expect that! He was round and tall and tough looking. Then he saw me and just melted. I guess he's a pretty cool guy, wouldn't you say? I waved at him with my big Polydactyl paws. He was okay, I guess.

How did the windows turn out? And what about the outdoor kitty? Have you seen him lately? I miss you, buddy. I hope we can keep in touch more often!

It’s Inconvenience Yourself Day!
In order to celebrate, last night I put my alarm clock in the bathroom and locked the door. When it went off this morning not only did I have to pick the lock with a knitting needle (which I had to find first, it’s not like I knit or anything!) to get to the (ahem!) facilities, the stupid alarm was playing “Who Let the Dogs Out? Woof, woof woof woof woof!” full blast the whole time!

Right now I’m unthawing my Harley key, which I froze in a block of ice last night before retiring. I wonder if I’ll make it through the Hairballz rides because I just finished siphoning about 4 gallons of gas from my 5 gallon tank. Yuck! Ptoooie! And of course, just for today I won’t be carrying either a jerry can OR my wallet with me! Do I know how to celebrate or what?!

Then I’ll finish out the day at home watching TV. Ahhh! “My Cat From Hell”, my favourite show! Of course, because it’s Inconvenience Yourself Day, last night I asked Evie to hide the remote so every time I want to flip the channel I have to get up and do it the cavecat way! I will then finish out this very special day by climbing into my cozy soft bed, which of course I inconveniently short-sheeted when I made it this morning.

1321 ~ UPDATE 2/18: SYLVESTER KNIGHT #11567 ~
The temperature was high 48 & low was 30 this morning, now it's 47 feels like 48 with humidity 63% & wind is 7 MPH SW. Tuesday's suppose to be Mostly Cloudy & High 48.

♥ Mom said I was a purr*fect patient for Dr. Liz this morning since this was my first vet visit in my 11 years of not seeing a vet other than for my big boy surgery at 9 month old in February 2002. I weighed in @ 11.2 lbs. Dr. Liz had her Assistant take my BP {165/135} which was fairly normal then Dr. Liz checked my eyes & ears which my ears were good & no infection that she could see. My heart sounded good, kidneys felt good as did my bladder. Everything checked out good so she wanted bloodwork & urinalysis done which she had to draw urine out of me. Before we were to leave, Dr. Liz wanted to see me walk. Once she seen I kept wanting to go to my right & did eye reflexing test, she confirmed what mom thought which was I did have a stroke Friday night! I didn't respond to the eye reflex, but I did repond to the light when she shined it in my eyes.

♥ She prescribed an antibiotic {Azithromycin} to clear up my weepy right eye and in case of any infection which I'm getting 1/4 tsp per a day. Mom had to get that @ Wal*Mart & I took it well when mom gave me my first dose today. I'm also suppose to get SubQ Fluids that mom and dad will give me at home. I am eating good and that has not been a problem! I haven't used the litter pan since I can't see it so I just pee on my blanket. Mom tells me it's ok and makes sure I have dry bedding so I don't have to lay on it!

♥ Mom came out to feed us Friday, afternoon @ 4:00, but I wasn't hungry. Mom didn't think too much of it cuz a few of us wasn't ready to eat. Mom came out later @ 7:00pm & I was still not wanting to eat. Mom asked me if I was ok, but I just laid there in a comfy bed on the patio couch. Mom went on to feed the other kitties & when she came back, she seen that I was out of the bed & on all 4 paws, but only standing in one place. She called me so I responded by walking to her & in circles doing this a couple times so she picked me up & was kissing my head. She thinks I may have been in some kind of confused mode then laid me in the comfy bed on the patio couch rubbing my tummy.

♥ Later when it was time for our last late night feeding, mom came out & didn't see me & called once then asked NeuBee 123633 & Suezee 11528 where I was & of course they never told! Mom got everyone fed & called me again then started looking for me. I moved which caught her attention. I just stood in one place so mom had to bend over a couple saw horses to pick me up by the scruff of my neck & never fought once which was NOT like me! She seen I was weak, maybe dehydrated some & a bit confused! Mom decided to put me in the back room in a large crate as she was afraid she'd lose me if I wasn't confined.

♥ Mom's feeding me Friskies can food mixed with water to be more soupylike! I'm eating so she's happy bout that & going pee. She microwaved a SnuggleSafe & I'm now curled up to. Mom checks on me many times to see how I'm doing. I just lay & look at her!

♥ Mom's taking me to see Dr. Liz Monday @ 1:30pm providing I'm not better since there wasn't no openings this morning! The only time I've ever seen a vet was in 2002 as I had my big boy surgery @ 9 months old thru Feral Cat Coalition. Please keep me in your prayers.

♥ Mom did change my profile photo today & also added 6 newer pictures in my picture gallery.

♥ It twas another short sleepy Knight last night for mom as Whyskrs 10378 continues with his wake up calls for mom. This time was a different wake up as he had Sassee 10605 by the neck as he was trying to act like a tom. Sassee's loud cries had awakened mom as Whyskrs was biting Sassee's neck hard. He got in trouble and mom picked Sassee up to soothe her and check her out. Needless to say, mom will be keeping watch on Sassee's neck. After things were quiet again and mom back to sleep, a little later she was awakened again, to see Whyskrs on top of Sassee!!!! Whyskrs got in trouble again then mom put Sassee on the bed with dad.

♥ Mom made a big pot of Beef Stew this morning with potatoes, baby carrots, celery, can tomatoes, can corn, onions, beef stew meat seared with onions then added to the rest of the stew then she let it simmer for about an hour on the stove. The house smelled good and dad said it was also good.

♥ After I went potty this morning, I was feeling so good that I went racing into the kitchen then jumped up on the window bed in the front room with a big ole loud MEOW!!!! Mom said I was a silly boy!!!! Tehehehe!!!!

How sweet that your mom sent my photo to your dad. I'm a bi-color ragdoll kitty - a very spoiled ragdoll kitty. :) I'm just kidding, my mom and dad think I'm a good girl and love me to pieces.

You see, my big sis, Angel Lucy captured the hearts of my mom and dad, when she actually belonged to the neighbor, who rescued her. Lucy decided that this was where she wanted to live and she became the first kitty my parents ever had. They absolutely fell in love with her and when the neighbor allowed them to adopt her, she immediately became an indoor-only kitty and was the light of their lives for 7 years. When they lost her to cancer, they were devastated and started looking for another kitty - That's where I came in. :)

After reading your story, we can see how you are adored and treasured - and rightfully so, because you are an absolutely gorgeous kitty and your eyes are just beautiful!

♥ Mom got her survey points award Wal*Mart gift card in the mail yesterday so she went there this morning to buy her another pair of jeans (giving her 2 pairs now), a red long-sleeve shirt (on sale), TC's heart♥ medicine and my anxiety medicine.

♥ About noon today, dad held us inside kitties one at a time while mom gave us our pawdicures. We were all good for her, well, xcept Bahneetah 10641 always gets mad and tries to bite mom so dad has to hold her in one arm and with his other hand by the scruff of her neck for control.

♥ I laid on the couch next to mom most of the day as she gave me tummy rubs, Bahneetah 10641 laid on mom's lap and seems to be doing more often which makes mom very happy and Whyskrs 10378 made sure he got mom time, too!!!!

♥ Whoo Hoo!!!! The video mom downloaded to the CC videos is now ready for viewing!!!! It's a short video of when mom gave Jazpyr 10428 his bath on 1/31/2013. Mom will upload more videos in due time.

We arise very early to head out ...
surfing at Kahaluu Beach. Surfing was at one time literally the "Sport of Kings" in Hawaii, reserved only for royalty. Today we can either watch this exciting sport from the safety of the shore or experience the rush of catching a wave ourselves by taking a surfing lesson. We are told that experienced instructors will take first-timers to safe breaks and get them on their feet and “riding the waves” within a two-hour lesson. Those of us who are novices race to be first in line … only to find there are enough instructors to teach all. What fun this promises to be.

Another prominent form of surfing in the ocean today includes bodyboarding, which refers to when a surfer rides a wave on the belly on a bodyboard which is shorter than a surfboard and usually made of a lighter material. Some of our group prefer to “ride the waves” in this manner. Most of the ladies choose this.

And then there’s bodysurfing, the act of surfing a wave without a board, is considered by some to be the purest form of surfing. Soon K. Steve, Ernie, Bart, Tucker and that Darn Bee Gee have mastered the art and are entertaining all with their antics. The rest of the furrfellows decide to attempt this as well, with varying results … most of which are quite entertaining.

Our instructors tell us the Guinness Book of World Records recognized a 78 foot (23.8 m) wave ride by Garrett McNamara at Nazaré, Portugal as the largest wave ever surfed. This has us eyeing the 15 foot waves we’ve been attacking and trying to imagine a wave more than 5 times higher. Gulp.

A picnic on the beach and then we are on our way to experience a real submarine tour! We board a boat which takes us out to the submarine. Once there we climb down into the viewing area, which consists of seats facing portholes, pretty much like at a Disney park. But this is a REAL SUBMARINE and we were soon diving into the habitat of countless, exotic sea creatures. Gazing through our spacious viewports, we exchange glances with hundreds of fish of different species dwelling in the waters off the coast of the island. The dive site is about 130 feet deep with coral formations and artificial reefs with sunken ships and airplanes. We see a shark, lots of colorful reef fish, sting rays and green sea turtles. The tour guide assigned to our submarine is not only knowledgeable but also very informative of every marine life in the deep ocean. She points out to us every fish species we encounter.

Before we know it the 45 minute tour has ended and once our submarine surfaces we disembark and board the awaiting shuttle boat to take us back to shore. This was definitely a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

When we arrive back at our ship, we find the captain has arranged for us to have a late supper. We dine on all manner of fresh fish caught here in the waters right off the island. What a day this has been, and we spend the next few hours reliving it with our dear furriends. See a picture of a sea turtle on my page.

The second day on Hawaii ...
… we will visit someplace a bit different. We are headed for the Seahorse Farm near Kona where they have over 2000 seahorses and are currently breeding over 15 different species characteristically unique shape, from the horsey looking head down to the long, curling tail. Then there’s the seahorses’ covering, a delicate skin stretched over bony plates rather than regular scales.

Before we begin our seahorse adventure, we need to make something purrfectly clear: Seahorses are for viewing, NOT for snacking.

Once inside we discover that Seahorses come in a variety of colors, with some species even changing their hue to match their surroundings. The Seahorse is a truly unique marine animal. At first glance, one might not even know a seahorse is a fish, with their unique upright posture. They have a distinctive long, tube-shaped snout with a prehensile tail that grabs onto corals and plants. Their jaws are small and only allow enough room to suck in small pieces of food. Seahorses are part of the family Syngnathidae, which also includes Sea Dragons and Pipefish. There are currently thought to be 80 species of seahorses found throughout the world’s oceans. They range in size from just over 1cm for pygmy seahorses and up to 14 inches for the Pot Belly Seahorse. This seahorse farm was the first one in the world and is the only one in the US. The guided tour lasts about an hour, the guide showing us various tanks where we watch them swim, hook tails and dance. We learn that sea horses mate for life. Beautiful, fascinating and mysterious, the seahorse is a fish like no other.

Next we visit Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo, which is very unique; it is the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in the United States. It is home to more than 80 species of animals! First we take a regal walk amidst peacocks in tropical gardens. We then head for encloses where we see the binturong, giant anteaters, 'Io (Hawaiian hawk), white Bengal tiger, and lemurs galore. There are lush and exotic plants providing perches for beautifully colored birds. We enjoy our picnic lunch which we eat on benched tables; after which we enjoy ice cream bars from the zoo snack shop.

And now, off to the beach! Many Big Island beaches are among the best you will find anywhere, period. This is especially true along the sunny west coast. Mauna Kea - Kauna'oa Beach is a beautiful, long crescent of fine white sand with crystal-clear water; one of the favorite beaches on the Big Island. It offers excellent swimming and snorkeling, and has full facilities. We throw our towels onto the sand, strip down to bathing suits, and race into the water … warm, soothing, and a great place to unwind.

We choose to linger until the sun begins to drop below the horizon. Awesome. The colors are unlike anything we’ve yet seen on our Round the World Cruise. This was definitely worth waiting for. See pics of seahorses on my page.

Hi Winston J,

Great to hear from you buddy! How the heck are you? Did you watch the Super Bowl last night? I'm not sure what it is. All I know is, Mom and Dad were watching TV and eating snacks all evening. I was snuggled up under my favorite blanket ignoring the whole spectacle.

How is your weather? We are in a cold snap, but thankfully none of that white stuff! At least we are done with the dreaded month of January! The ground hog did not see his shadow so that means an early spring. At least that's what Mom says. Number 1, what the heck is a ground hog and number 2, what does a ground hog know? Anyway, I just hope he's right!

Mom says thanks for the tips on getting a really big scratching post for Dasher. She would love to see pictures so Dad could maybe build one! That Dasher is such a handful! Mom put our scratching post by the wall where Dasher usually scratches. You can probably guess where that is. Yep, right next to his food dish! He's been pretty good about using the scratching post instead of the wall. He's just doing it for attention! Dumb brother. Why can't he be perfect like me? MOL!

Have your parents gained the trust of that visiting kitty yet? And what about Murphy? How did the introductions go? Was he fun to play with?

Oh, by the way I'll probably be off-line for a few weeks. Mom and Dad are leaving us AGAIN! This time they are going to Las Vegas. All I know is, Mom had better play the "Kitty Glitter" video game and she had better bring home some money so she can spend it on me! Before she leaves for Vegas, she has to drop off the laptop computer. She says the space bar doesn't work properly so they need to fix it. They have to ship it back to Hewlett-Packard (never heard of it). Anyway, it may take 10 days to get fixed. Hopefully they will get it all fixed up and returned to Mom when she gets back from Vegas. If not, she can just buy a new computer with her winnings. MOL!

We have reached our destination...
Hawaii … The Big Island. It is the furthest south of any in the island chain, and it's larger than all the other islands put together. It is also a place where one can ski in the daytime and walk barefoot in a warm sea at sundown. We will spend a couple of days at least exploring all it has to offer. The island is the youngest in the Hawaiian chain. It provides a vast canvass of environments to discover a variety of unrivaled natural wonders: the tallest sea mountain in the world at 33,000 feet – Maunakea; and the most massive mountain in the world - Maunaloa.

Watch the landscape change before your very eyes at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Located 30 miles southwest of Hilo is Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. It has been erupting since January 3rd, 1983. The chance to witness the primal process of creation and destruction make this park one of the most popular visitor attractions in Hawaii. January 2013 marked the 30th anniversary of the beginning of Kilauea’s eruptions. Volcanoes are monuments to Earth's origin, evidence that its primordial forces are still at work. During a volcanic eruption, we are reminded that our planet is an ever-changing environment whose basic processes are beyond human control. As much as we have altered the face of the Earth to suit our needs, we can only stand in awe before the power of an eruption.

Hawaii emerged from the sea millions of years ago, forged by the power of volcanoes. Loihi is located underwater off the southern coast of Hawaii Island. Erupting since 1996, this emerging seamount may break the surface in about 250,000 years, adding a ninth island to the Hawaiian chain.

Today we will be taken by helicopter to view Kilauea. We gather our cameras and courage and hop aboard. Within a short time, we arrive at area adjacent to the volcano. Keeping a safe distance, the helicopter circles the area, allowing us to take many pictures and to see how massive this natural wonder truly is. Not a steep-sided volcano, as we thought it would be, but rather spreading out and comprising approximately half of the island of Hawaii, we realize this thing is BIG.

Our next stop is Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory – We’ve seen the blue cans and boxes in the shops; now we visit the source. We take a self-guided tour of the factory, watching in one area how the nuts are blanketed with chocolate. We then enter a room where there are samples for us to try. We taste the macadamia nuts plain, salted, in brittle and covered in milk chocolate. In the gift shop, we purchase some of our favorites to take back to the ship.

Back to the ship for dinner with the Captain. Once in our rooms for the night, we talk of what we’ve seen and experienced, and munch on our macadamia treats. A quick face wash to clean our whiskers of chocolate and other sweet traces, then into our beds where we fall quickly asleep.

How is your Mom's internet connection? I hope she got it fixed!

How's the part-time kitty? Is he or she still scared or does she come up to your mom and dad yet? Guess what? Mom loves black and white tuxedo cats too! Mom's first kitty ever was a black and white cat named Rascal. I'm jealous. I hope she likes tabby extra toed Polydactyl cats now!

How is your weather? It is bitterly cold here right now. Mom ventured out today to run some errands and she said it was terrible. At least we did not get the snow that some people in our area got. It is snowing lightly now but I don't think we're going to get much accumulation. Tomorrow is going to be cold too. The wind is supposed to pick up, making it feel 10 below zero or worse with the wind chill factor.

Dasher and I have been "helping" Mom pack the townhouse. We investigate every box and follow Mom wherever she goes. It is great fun. Speaking of Dasher. Mom would like your mom to send her a picture of the really big scratching post you have. Dad wants to build one for Dasher so maybe he will quit scratching the walls and hopefully won't scratch the logs!!

I hope all is well with you! I miss you! I hope Mom will get on the stick and help me with notes to my buddies! This is getting ridiculous!!

Long time no meow! It was great to hear from you! Mom is trying to get me a little caught up with my blogs. Finally! Geesh! Her retirement is great because she hangs around with Dasher and me BUT she sure doesn't help us with CC. Oh well. She sure is happy to be retired. She's been home since 1/1/2013. Yippee!

I'm glad your Mom and Dad liked the Christmas card.

Dasher and I have been helping Mom pack up the townhouse. Today Mom emptied the kitchen cabinets out to pack and throw stuff away. She left the cabinet doors open and of course that was an open invitation for MOI! I was rolling around and playing with my tail. It was great fun.

We are looking forward to our big scratching post in the woods when we move to our new log home. Mom says we had better leave those logs alone! I'm not the problem. But that Dasher sure does like to stand on his hind legs and scratch at the walls. Do you ever do that? Mom hopes she can get Dasher to stop that bad habit!

Thanks for the compliments on my photos. You know Winston J., I just love my boxes! Mom can buy me all the coolest gifts in the world but I like the boxes better. MOL! Mom says she'll have to get a picture of me sleeping ON the cat blanket instead of in the box so you can see how cute it is. Guess what else? Mom bought a really cool soft bed today. It is big enough for small dogs or for cats. It has high soft sides to lean against. It's just the BEST, I tell you! Mom says she'll post a picture of it on my blog. Do you have CVS pharmacies? She bought it there. It was only $3.50! She's thinking about getting another one for Dasher so we don't have to share. Good idea Mom.

I love to drink out of faucets. Bathtub, kitchen sink, bathroom sink - any places where there is running water - I'm there!

Your warm weather sounds mighty inviting! We had a warm weekend last weekend (Mom even took me outside on my harness). But we're getting ready to get some really bitter cold weather coming up next week. Time to snuggle up in my new blanket!

Mom says she did not get an email from your mom. Did she send one? She would love to hear from her!

Hi Winston J. buddy,

How the heck are you? Guess what! Mom retired on 1/1/2013! Dasher and I are so excited to have her home with us. Of course now she's on to our antics during the day. She used to think we were little angels while she was at work. But now she sees how we party all day long. MOL!

We had a pretty big snowstorm a few weeks ago but today was beautiful. All that white stuff is turning into wet stuff. Mom even took Dasher and me outside on the deck today so we could enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. The only problem with that is, yep you guessed it. Dasher gets a whiff of that fresh air and then gets full of himself and starts chasing me throughout the house! Of course I must admit that I chase him too!

I've been busy helping Mom pack boxes for our big move to the log cabin. Mom posted a picture of our new home on my page. I can't wait to move there! Speaking of boxes, I will squeeze myself into any available box that's for sure. I go nuts when Mom starts running her fingers along the edge of the box. That noise drives me crazy! I know it's Mom's finger, but I still think it might be prey. I paw at her finger (careful not to use my claws). Mom jumps and I jump. It's great fun, I tell ya. I guess we are easily amused.

Besides voting daily for cotd/cotm, we have been offline for a long time. We missed you all very much and are sooooo glad to be back.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for not forgetting about us while we were away. It meant so much to mom and all of us when you brought the goodies over to help Abby celebrate her 10th birthday, which was on Oct. 20th. And then....COTD the next day!!
It is embarrassing to be sending our thanks this late, but better now than never, right?

♥ Mom didn't get to sleep much last night as Whyskrs 10378 kept waking mom up as did Bahaneetah 10641, Sassee 10605 and even I did one time. Mom finally got back to sleep about 4:30 and quickly woke up almost 7:00 this morning. Mom was on the computer for a short time as she had to feed the outside kitties then us inside kitties and scoop the litter boxes.

♥ Mom had to go to Wal*Mart to get her shampoo, conditioner and a few baking things as she's hoping to bake some cookies tomorrow to have for their Bible Study on Wednesday.

♥ Well, just as mom xpected, it came true!!!! Dad's sister brought over Dinner fixings for tomorrow. She brought over a ham, pumpkin pie, potato salad, salmon loaf, chips and a few other goodies.

♥ Even though we do not celebrate the Christmas, we do hope and pray that during your travels to and back home, to please stay safe, but ALL have fun, too!!!!

The Hawaiian Islands ...
Palm trees swaying in tropical breezes, waterfalls dropping from breathtaking heights, flowers that look like birds and birds that look like flowers. No wonder they call it paradise. But where did they originate?

The Hawaiian Islands are volcanic in origin. Each island is made up of at least one primary volcano, although many islands are composites of more than one. The Big Island, for instance, is constructed of 5 major volcanoes: Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, Hualalai and Kohala. Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano on Earth. Kilauea is presently one of the most productive volcanoes on Earth (in terms of how much lava it erupts each year). And this is how Hawaii came to be.

Islands mean lots and lots of water … and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world. The Round the World Cruise Ship is just a day away from port, and the beginning of yet another amazing adventure. We have gear reserved for those who wish to explore the waters around Hawaii, Jeeps standing by for land tours, and helicopters ready to lift us high above the volcanoes for a safe view.

We will visit each of the main islands for a stay of at least five days – we will arrive soon.

BUT FIRST … Our ship’s Captain has given purrmission to redo the Cat/Buttered Toast event. Deck C … for Cat? … has loooooong interior passageways where the stewards have helpfully stretched what seem like acres and acres of heavy plastic for us. The ship’s main chef has come to watch the event … he has kindly provided gallons of melted and slightly cooled butter, and piles of toast. There is a ladder from which we will drop onto the plastic sheeting. Once down, be sure to roll quickly onto your toast and enjoy the ride.

King Steve has gallantly stepped aside to allow Queens to precede him in this endeavor. As there are several of us aboard, we climb the ladder, ready ourselves, then …

… we grab King Steve, strap on his toast and … heave ho … there he goes. He drops … onto his paws of course, rolls onto his toast, and sliiiiiides the length of the passageway … laughing all the way. I knew he’d enjoy this.

The rest of us scamper to the pool deck and stretch out on lounge chairs while we await his arrival. It will be awhile; that was a LOT of butter.

Yes, we are headed for Hawaii and No, none of the volcanoes is erupting. See a pic of the islands on my page. A true-color satellite view of Hawaii shows that most of the vegetation on the islands grows on the north-east sides which face the wind. The silver glow around the south-west of the islands is the result of calmer waters.

Hello dearest fur friend Winston & family!! I miss you.

Santa Paw came a little bit earlier this year and brought me and Sally a new scratcher with colorful feathers on it.
There are only a couple of more days left to Christmas Eve and we´re helping Mom to get things ready to celebrate.
As most of the times, I´ve been busy supervising everything. I´ve been specially curious about some bright little packages appearing under the tree. They have very interesting ribbons and I´ve been sniffing them. I even gave them a couple of headbonks too. MOL!

Victoria ...
... at the south-east corner of Australia, is the smallest mainland state. Tasmania sits to its south. The most densely-populated state, its capital and largest city is Melbourne, where our ship docks.

From here we head out to the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is the largest stadium in Australia, and the host of the 1956 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVI Olympiad. An exception was the equestrian events, which could not be held in Australia due to quarantine regulations. Instead, those events were held five months earlier in Stockholm, Sweden, marking the second time that events of the same Olympics were held in different countries. (At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium, one sailing event had been held in Dutch waters because of water quality). The 1956 Games were the first to be staged in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as the first to be held outside Europe and North America. It was in swimming that the Australians really shone. They won all of the freestyle races, men's and women's, and collected a total of eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals. United States men dominated track and field. They not only won 15 of 24 events, they swept four of them and finished first and second in five others. The crowd was with the Hungarian water polo team in its match against the Soviet Union which became known as the Blood In The Water match. The game became rough and, when a Hungarian was forced to leave the pool with blood streaming from a cut over his eye, a riot almost broke out. But police restored order and the game was called early, with Hungary leading 4–0. The Hungarians went on to win the gold medal. Despite the international tensions of 1956 – or perhaps because of them – a young Melburnian, John Ian Wing, came up with a new idea for the closing ceremony. Instead of marching as teams, behind their national flags, the athletes mingled with one another as they paraded into and around the arena for a final appearance before the spectators. That began an Olympic tradition that has been followed ever since. We stand in the center of this enormous stadium, imagining what it would be like to have competed here. Galaxy and Verona are running the track; Hercules hovering above them. Oh, my family. Sassy and Sam think it would have been nice to watch the swimming and diving events. We will not, however, visit that venue, although the pool is still in use. Steve has found a large wooden container and is standing on it in a victory pose. Soon, Steve, soon.

One of Victoria’s most stunning natural features are The Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park. The site is a popular tourist attraction. The apostles were formed by erosion: the harsh weather conditions from the Southern Ocean gradually eroded the soft limestone to form caves in the cliffs, which then became arches, which in turn collapsed; leaving rock stacks up to 148 feet high. The name of the site sticks despite only ever having nine stacks. Our cameras get a lot of use here. What a gorgeous place.

We head next to see the Little Penguins which are the smallest species of penguin. Little Penguins have several common names; they are also referred to as Fairy Penguins because of their tiny size. Like those of all penguins, their wings have developed into flippers used for swimming. They typically grow to 12 to 13 inches tall and usually weigh about 3½ pounds. The head and upperparts are blue in colour, with slate-grey ear covers fading to white underneath, from the chin to the belly. The flippers are blue, and the feet pink above with black soles and webbing. Galaxy and Verona are waddling about like the penguins. Oh my goodness, Sam and Hercules are doing the same. My family!!! Naturally, I take pictures of them all.

Like most seabirds, they have a long lifespan. The average for the species is 6.5 years, but there have been very exceptional cases up to 25 years in captivity. Little Penguins live year-round in large colonies, with each individual breeding pair forming a burrow in which to raise their chicks (of which two are born at a time, usually about 2 days apart). Little Penguins typically return to their colonies to feed their chicks at dusk. The birds will tend to come ashore in small groups to provide some defense against predators which might pick off individuals one by one. In Australia, the strongest colonies are usually on cat-free and fox-free islands. We are fortunate to have been given special permission to visit here. A viewing area has been set up at the Phillip Island Nature Park where we watch the nightly "penguin parade". Lights and concrete stands have been erected to allow us to see but not photograph the birds interacting in their colony.

We head back to the ship, knowing we will be pulling out of port in a few hours. There are pics at the bottom of my page. Soon we will experience yet another adventure.

South Australia's capitol city Adelaide ...
… was voted Australia’s most livable city. It’s also the gateway to the unique and iconic Kangaroo Island, today’s destination.

Minutes from the mainland, Kangaroo Island is a sanctuary for wildlife and natural, rugged beauty. This place is like a zoo without fences, with rare bird life, wallabies, and plenty of kangaroos and koalas. We make landfall at dusk since wildlife is most active at this time. We are thrilled to find that Penguins can be seen on shore after dark; many of them have graced us with their presence. The youngsters are especially excited to see penguins so close. They say they feel like they are IN the zoo.

After a night spent in tents, we discover koalas in the trees. Like other marsupials, a koala mother carries her baby in a pouch until it is large enough to ride on her back or belly. What adorable things they are.

A short ride in a Jeep has brought us to yet another fun spot. We are going to try Sand-boarding at Little Sahara. All of the guys and some of us girls have decided to try this one. The sand dunes are quite high and the ride down on a sand-board is exhilarating. Just don’t wipe out; that sand is not a comfortable landing zone at speed. It will take some time to comb the sand from our fur but, oh, it was so worth it.

On the way back, our Jeep passes a number of kangaroos and wallabies. We don’t stop though, as they can be a bit aggressive. This is spring in the Southern Hemisphere, and there are definitely joeys (baby kangaroos) in their mothers’ pouches.

We finish this day diving in the clear blue waters around Kangaroo Island where we see seals and many other marine creatures including the famous Leafy Sea Dragon, 8 – 10 inch creatures which look like seahorses covered in fall leaves.

Finally, we make a stop at Clifford's Honey Farm where we taste an interesting sparkling honey drink. While here we see a hive and a DVD showing how honey is harvested. In the shop area are lots of honey products and souvenirs. For 20c you can have a piece of cat safe chocolate covered honeycomb, which Galaxy and Verona try. Soon we are all enjoying the sweet repast.

Addition:
How many strokes
Of cheek against chair
Does it take to prove
Territorial rights?

Geometry:
is any amount of bare space
Shining at the bottom of the food bowl
Acceptable?

And how do you prove the negative
To humans?

Calculus:
Jump too close
And the parabola will be still ascending
Feet below the surface
Where their tangent
Should be level
Landing without lift or fall.

Jump too far

Feet shouldn't scrabble for purchase.
Cat math depends on dignity.
The derivative should be zero

Western Australia ...
... offers some of the most varied travel experiences.
We have pulled into Perth. Our explorations here will take us from an artificial reef to Tree Tops. Are you ready to begin?

The HMAS Swan dive wreck is one of Western Australia’s most spectacular artificial reefs; a mecca for scuba divers. The former destroyer escort was scuttled in 12/97 - but really this was just the beginning of the Swan’s new life as a world class dive wreck. Since she was scuttled thousands from all over the world have dived her. This is an extremely successful artificial reef and dive site. Anyone that has dived the Swan can honestly say it is mind blowing and diving at its very best! Several of our guests have opted to don mask, fins, and tanks, and … wait a minute, Steve … we are going in pairs!

Once below the surface we can see she was sunk in an upright position. The wreck now has an abundance of marine life and is rapidly establishing itself as a bountiful artificial reef. We explore inside and out, keeping our partner in sight at all times. Ummmm … Hecules? Where are you? Oh, you silly … sneaking up behind me.

Back on dry land, we head inland to the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk which gives us a bird's eye view of some of the tallest timber giants on Earth - Western Australia's majestic tingle trees. Climbing 131 feet into the forest canopy and meandering through the treetops for 1/3 mile, the walk trail is the first of its kind, designed to maximize views. Most similar canopy walks around the world feature suspension bridge structures, which are not for the faint hearted. The Tree Top Walk however, is a series of 200 feet high light weight steel trusses built on steel pylons to form a secure ramp.

Prince Angel Hercules escorts me onto the bridge, which is not at all frightening. Come along, everyone, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Galaxy follows Hercules’ lead and offers his arm to Verona. What an adorable couple they are. Then youth kicks in and off they go, scampering literally among the treetops.

Adjacent this is a walkway that allows us to enter the Valley of the Giants, the grove of towering old tingle trees. These giants are found nowhere else on Earth and some have been standing for over 400 years. Some of the trees here are up to 52 feet in circumference at the base. Standing beneath these majestic giants, breathing in the cool forest air, is a humbling experience.

We opt to stay for the Forest by Night tour which allows us to enjoy the Tree Top Walk under a canopy of thousands of stars and to see some of the nocturnal creatures that live in the forest. We share our walk with Sassy and Sam; lots of hand holding. MOL!

A tasty repast is ours on the bus trip back to Perth. A good night’s sleep and we will head out for South Australia. Pictures of today’s adventure are on my page.
