Happy St Patrick's Day! A Frosty +7 here!
Good morning friends. Thought we would try to make a round again on CC both of kitties we regularly visit and those new friends and some we don't know yet. Got to make this a c/p. We are still waiting to see if Zeus will have found his forever home. Spring has come and their are all lot more kitties on the streets that need rescue. no-kill rescues fill fast. Kill shelters are not a good option for us kitties anyway. That is why mom keeps doing what she does.

We are all well and healthy. The dogs have their physicals coming up April first--- April Fools dogs! When mom comes to pick you up from the vet, after staying there for Easter, they are not done with you! Shots coming up too, he-he. Think Handy Andy has a rabies shot due the end of April, but the rest of us are later in the summer.

The weather is still ice and snow here, with more snow coming this week--- will it never end? Sorry Barney still hasn't done any more stories, but promise we will work on that. Still have to get more pictures posted of our past kitties on the Inspiration page. Will try to label those too. Mom still has to do taxes and we hope that means a refund coming back-- we hope!

Now we are on our way to Pawty with Pushkin and all the other Irish kitties and then on to MHL mouse hockey tonight.

1/31/13 Thursday--- The Time Grows Near!
Barney here. The temperature here is +4, with the wind -20! Q.A.Sugar has contacted us and requests an early Coronation Ceremony. Details are being set-up as I speak and we hope to inform you before this goes out today. News flash! Q.A.Sugar just contacted us and says that 6pm her time would work. That would be 5pm EST/ 4pm C/ 2pm Pacific. The Ceremony will be rather brief on the CMR page #46883, but with a reception after. After 6:30pm Central time tonight, you may come to Pawty on my page #74382. Zeus has promised to work on the decorating and is asking all Orange cats to assist, probably with TPing the premises, not that we don't trust him. Hefty has already asked Ms Chyna Doll to be the royal chef, so you know the food will be topnotch! Its been a long, but inspiring Catpaign and we have all enjoyed it immensely! All of you have been so encouraging and giving kind praise about our rescue stories. Mom is feeling humbled with your comments, because she only does what is necessary and she knows how to do. We are all humbled by all your votes of confidence and I hope honor you as your King of February.

Not sure where we will go in the month ahead, but trust inspiration will find us. We have been informed that the royal blogging days are Tuesday and Thursday. We will surely visit this weekend on Caturday or Sunday to let you know how our move in to the Castle went and what events are planned for the week ahead. Other days we hope to do a lot of more purrsonal blogging and visiting all the kitties in our Kingdom. Please join in the spirit of Love this Month of February and visit as many of of the sick or otherwise struggling CC families as you are able. Take time to visit new kitties and hunt up old friends you may have lost contact with. Some inactive kitties may still check pages occasionally, so just leave a note and let them know they are in your thoughts and prayers. Be ready for February Fun in the month ahead!

1/16/13 Wednesday--- Mid-Week, Mid-Month !
Barney here and our Catpaign is half over! Can you believe? Plus 26 degrees this morning here in Minnesota. The weather guesser says its up and then down to the deep freeze! I've hardly started talking about my current family. All the excitement and celebration the last couple days with Zeus's COTD yesterday! Wow! Now he is sleeping in like a baby. Not a peep yet this morning. If we missed anyone saying thank you for votes, shame on us. You are all precious to us and we are thankful to all. We do want to say Good Morning and Catgrat Fuzzy on his COTD today. May he have as wild and crazy a day today as Zeus did yesterday--- make it happen friends! Today its open, which means tomorrow is a surprise--- ???

Well, we talked about our foster? bro Zeus for a good two days. Today I want to talk about the lady of the house and not mom. Our sister Molly Jean runs the show. She came in as a foster just a bit after I did. I read on her page, mom said I used to give her the evil eye and pick on her-- don't remember that at all! Molly lived a hard life on the streets of Minneapolis. She was probably someone's cute kitten, who was kicked out of the house or let go when she reached the age of puberty/her first heat. People in her neighborhood reported to rescuers that she was living under a porch and had had several litters of kittens, who did not survive. She was still under the porch, it was winter, she looked pregnant and the landlord wanted her gone.
The investigator from mom's group was worried that she might come to a bad end and called to see if we had room, which we did.

Molly had kittens, but they died just after birth. She had a lot of parasites and was malnourished. Mom even waited a bit on her big girl surgery, because she needed to gain some health. The tips of her ears were frostbit.

Well, obviously Molly's life was all uphill from here, but we will have to wait til tomorrow to finish the story. We will tell how she went from an abused street cat to a loving therapy cat, giving back many times to those, who rescued her.

1/13/13 Second Sunday!
Barney here--- a hard morning to get mom and even the dogs up. Only 3 degrees out! Hefty and I curled up with mom last night and Zeus, Molly and Andy curled up in the cat beds in the spare room, Zeus's room. Mom shut Zeus in there, because he was being pesty and Molly and Andy opted to go in with him.

Several of you asked to know a little more about Lynne and her cats, all of whom have since passed over the Bridge several years back, including Lynne. Lynne passed suddenly about 7 years ago from Cancer. During her life, she had done many things, including being a Science Fiction writer and, for the most part, writing reviews of Science Fiction books. While living with mom she was semi-retired and writing book reviews for a library publication, "What Do I Read Next."

Concerning the cats, George was a beautiful black LH and Felecia's first husband. Reggie was her second husband and the father of Baby, or Kelly, as she was later known. Felicia was Siamese, Reggie a very bright orange, and Baby/Kelly was a dark tortie. George and Reggie were neutered when they arrived, but mom made sure Baby/Kelly and Felicia were spayed within a week of their arrival. After coming to mom, the cats lived long, indoor lives and passed from all age related causes. Only Felicia out-lived Lynne and became a good friend of Pasha and Agatha. Felicia was also very attached to mom and mom to her.

Well, that is the end of that story, unless you have more questions. A rather short blog today, but tomorrow I am starting some stories of our current family, including Zeus, who will be running for COTD!

A bouquet of flowers brightens the day!!

Supplies:
4 White Carnations
2 Plastic Black Shank Buttons - if you can find an oval shape even better
1 Plastic Yellow Shank Button
1 Sheet of White Craft Foam
Black Card Stock
Fabric Glue
Straight Pins
Tape
Green Floral Tape
Floral Wire
Red Ribbon

Place button wires into the flowers to create the face (make sure they're secure). You might need to trim the wire a little so your buttons sit flat on top of the flowers. I also recommend looking at a Hello Kitty image to get the nose and eye spacing correct.

Tie a traditional red bow and trim off tales. Attach a floral wire to bow. Cut two rounded triangles from the white foam for ears. You'll want the ears to be slightly bigger opposed to proportionate. Glue one of the ears on the back of the bow. Tape the other ear to the floral wire. The wire should be 6" in length.

Situate ears at the top of the bouquet. You will need to bend the ears back about 90 degrees. The flowers should cover part of the foam ears (this is why we made them larger). With floral tape, wrap wire and stems to secure in place.

Last are the whiskers. Cut 6 thin strips of black card stock measuring 2" in length. Pin three strips to each side of the face inside the flowers using straight pins. You now have a Hello Kitty Bouquet. For more color surround it with other flowers or wrap it in cellophane and tissue paper.

Mitchell's Gone with the Wind
Margaret Mitchell had a huge stack of paper that was gathering dust in her closet in Atlanta, Georgia. Harold Latham, an editor visiting from New York, caught wind of the epic novel, but Mitchell refused to give him the manuscript. It wasn’t ready (and might never be).
The same week, an up-and-coming writer found out about the novel and exclaimed to Mitchell: “Really I wouldn’t take you for the type who would write a successful book. You know you don’t take life seriously enough to be a novelist.” Her dander up, Mitchell handed her unfinished manuscript to Latham. He had to buy an extra suitcase to carry it home, but it was worth the money. It wasn’t long before he made an offer for Gone with the Wind.

Cat "arrested" for break-in Brazilian prison
There are paw-prints all over the scene of the "crime" for its part in an apparent jail break attempt. This feline's life of crime is now over.

The incident took place at New Year. A smuggling cat has been detained in the grounds of a jail in Brazil with contraband goods for prisoners strapped to its body with tape. They found a mobile phone, charger, headphones and tools. Officials said the items could be used to effect a means of escape or for communicating with criminals on the outside.

The white cat was apprehended crossing the main prison gate. The incident took place at a jail in Arapiraca city, 250km (155 miles) south-west of Recife in Alagoas state.

The cat had apparently been trained to assist in high-profile prison breaks, and had been seen coming in and out of the jail multiple times prior to its arrest.
The jail holds some 263 prisoners.

There are no leads in the case. All of the prisoners are suspects in the case, but it’ll be hard to get any forward-momentum in the investigation. A prison spokesperson stated: "It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action as the cat doesn't speak."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Well I am back trying to get caught up on my blogging. Sorry for the copy and paste thing but it is the only way and fast way Mommie knows in order to do all without missing any thing or any one. Maybe some time within this new year, CC can make a way for us to have the option to blog the same thing to ALL on our page at one time. That would be awesome if we could do that. Or just the same way, blog one individually if we have something special or important to say to the one pussy cat or person. Any way it has been a good year on some things but bad on alot of other things too. Mommie was very depressed after the school shootings happened in Connecticut. Mommie said nothing like this was ever dreamed of back in her days. She told me of how the boys use to even carry pocket knives and would sit in class and trade them, or sharpen them on their shoes or boots and the girls would be filing their nails with files and stuff. Amazing at how times have changed. Mommie said they use to wear tee-shirts with funny things on them too which one of her favorites she said was this cartoon of a chicken and underneath it said CHICKEN SHIRT but the R was dropped down so it was like it was saying something else. No one not even the teachers thought any thing about such as that back then and now you cant even wear such things. Kids even try to kill over a pair of tennis shoes now days and Mommie said she wouldn't even be caught wearing the shoe strings in them. Well, enough of that. Mommie was so surprised to have gotten an IPod touch. She thought she was getting a futon couch and was worried about the bad and rainy weather and how Poppie was going to haul it in the back of the truck back home from my human sisters house in the rain but she got fooled. And Poppie told her he had it for over a month right under her nose too all the time it was in Poppie's diabetic testing supply case. But Mommie said she never fools with any of that stuff!! LOL!! She also got a lovely pair of gold hoop earrings and some Genie Bra's for holding up her "boulders" what ever that is. So all in all she had a great Christmas. I got some new mice to play with and batt around and Richie Da Dawg got some chew bones and stuff and a new soft bed. Mommie took down the tree today with some help and said she was not going to go for superstitions any more because for the past few years she has waited until after New Years and have not had any good luck the whole next year so she went ahead of schedule and took it down today. Said if it wasn't for bad luck she would have none at all. She is getting her hair done Wednesday as it is $15.00 day at her salon. A friend sent her some money to do that with which was very nice. Well, got to go and watch the FALCONS now. YAY GO FALCONS!! HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and be safe too!!!!

We were happy to read all your news in your message of 14 November. Now we are trying to catch up. Our grandma died on 13 Nov hence we couldn't blog for some time.We are living in her house at present in another city. Maybe we will move here permanently.
We feel very cold here.

Hi Casper,Angels Leo &Tigger, & Sahara & the Girls
I certainly hope that you had a very good Hannukah & Christmas! It really does sound somewhat like a month-long party at your house during December! Did you all get snow for like we did? It snowed enough here to cover the ground on Christmas Eve, and then it snowed again Wednesday, which definitely covered the ground with four inches of snow, which changed to rain and while it made the trees lovely, it slowed down traffic around here. We had a lovely Christmas - my human sister, her hubby, and little Zachary came over to open presents with us at 10AM, left around 2PM, but came back here at 6:30PM to eat a late Christmas dinner with us. All in all, it was a wonderful day. When it snowed Wednesday, it changed to freezing rain and sleet at 5PM. It is supposed to get extremely cold here starting tomorrow, and we are supposed to get more snow on Saturday. Apparently, this will really be a cold and snowy Winter. Monopoly of life:a lucky break just when U need it
A rags to riches tale:
On December 31, 1935, the game Monopoly was patented by Charles Darrow, an unemployed engineer in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He struggled with odd jobs to support his family in the years following the great stock market crash of 1929.
This fascinating story of corporate intrigue begins with the 30-year old, The Landlord's Game. It had a lot of the familiar Monopoly features like a "Go to Jail" square and utilities and properties for purchase. With his free time, Darrow modified it, basing his rental properties on his favorite resort town, Atlantic City.
Parker Brothers, at first, turned down Charles Darrow, explaining that his game contained "fifty-two fundamental errors" including: the game took too long to play, the rules were too complicated and there was no clear goal for the winner.
Parker Brothers later offered Charles Darrow royalties, on each new version of Monopoly sets sold. This generous deal made him a millionaire.
In 1970, a few years after Darrow's death, Atlantic City erected a commemorative plaque in his honor. It stands on the Boardwalk, near the corner of Park Place.

It's a wonderful life
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) began a short story, The Greatest Gift", in 1939. He was inspired by a dream, and reminiscent of the 1843 Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Stern shared 200 printed copies in 1943 friends as a year-end cards after numerous publisher rejections.
Luckily, the pamphlet came to the attention of a RKO movie producer who purchased the rights. Frank Capra's production company saw the movie potential. He paid $10,000 for the rights in 1945. Stern's story was adapted into the most loved and memorable American family film, "It's a Wonderful Life" in 1946. Director Capra's inventiveness, humor and affection for human beings keep it glowing with life and excitement.
On Xmas eve, George Bailey's guardian angel shows him all the lives he touched and how different life in his community would be had he never been born. Although George repeatedly sacrifices his dream to travel the world, he realizes "No man is a failure who has friends."

Our house is full for the Christmas holiday. Our Grandma and my Mom's brother arrived yesterday for a surprise visit. Mom is very happy! Our fursister, Whitey and her furfriend, Orangie came home to eat this morning even though it is raining. Mom is happy to report that both kitties are staying in the Igloo house! It sounds like you have the best of both worlds - celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas! Mom likes latkaes, but I don't want any either. Mom and Dad went out to eat lunch today at one of their favorite restaurants and a couple came in and sat down across from them. The lady started staring at Mom and was talking about Mom's choice of meals when it was brought out, then made another comment about Mom's meal when her own meal was brought out. After that she made a comment about Dad and said that her mother had taught her not to rest her elbows on the table and that some people weren't brought up well by their Moms. Then she starting talking about Mom again and when Mom lifted her head up, she was pointing her finger right at Mom and Mom said to Dad "MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME NOT TO POINT AT PEOPLE BECAUSE IT ISN"T POLITE!" The man told his wife to stop and put her finger down and to quit talking about them! She then started complaining loudly about people at her church, and before Mom and Dad left told her husband to "Look at them! Don't miss looking at them both when they get up to leave!" Mom said it takes all kinds to make a world! Other than going to one store after eating out, Mom took it pretty easy today and rested. I got caught trying to locate the package that smelled like catnip again! I can't help it that it smells good! Well, have a lovely evening and a great Friday, and I am pawing you a vote! hello casper
well..i don't really like time-out either..but mom always forgets about the cat tree and the window where i can watch those birdies..what i don't like is there's no food or treats...geesh..
i took back my offer to help mom shovel that 6" of snow we got..when she told me i couldn't play but had to WORK..i said..nothin' doin'! so, i just napped in teh nice warm sunand didn't even feel guilty about it..well..not much nayway..
mom says she still ahas shopping to do, too and hoesp to finish it up on saturday..boy..she's cutting it pretty close, isn't she?
i hope you all didn't get much of that snow..our g'pa, who lives in des moines , got 12"..yikes!!that's a lot and i'm glad i didn't have to shovel THAT!
i just hope i can stay out of trouble for 4 more days. help!!

janet will be home for christmas as the store chain wide is closed this one holiday and thanksgiving just because it's the state blue laws which say stores have to be closed for the most part. some have found ways of getting around it and have opened, only to be told they have to close down! she would love it off and can take it off, but double time plus holiday pay, can't pass that one up! sandy, ana, haley, angels

I'm sorry to be getting a late start tonight, but mom had 'family matters' to attend to today and she just got home 20 minutes ago. We even missed MHL and we never miss that.

We are getting colder by the day. It will only be in the 30's for the weekend. Today was 41*, and according to mom's Uncle there is a HUGE snowstorm heading this way.

Mom had to get hold of her Uncle so he would know about mom's mom, but the Uncle is her mom's brother...he said he will drive here from WS in a few days for Christmas and to see his sister in case the worse happens.

We want to thank all of our friends for their purrayers for moms mom at this difficult time, mom sure appreciates all the purrayers..you kitties and your pawrents are the bestest friends in the World.

Hi Casper & family!
Today is supposed to be the coldest day this year. It is not raining, but the sky is clear and there is a brisk wind. My Mom saw our fursister Whitey this morning. She was in the Igloo house Mom had put outside a couple of weeks ago. Mom was happy to see her using the house. It has a big, warm blanket in it. While Whitey was eating, her furfriend Orangie came by to eat also. Mom made sure they both had plenty to eat before they walked away.

I left a friendly vote with lots of purrs and warm hugs.

The Nutcracker Ballet
Mom missed all her furfriends these past two weeks.

On December 17, 1892, The Nutcracker ballet premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia. Critics and audience thought it a failure; it was not an instant success.
The adaptation by Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffman (1776-1822).
The score was composed by Peter Tchaikovsky, commissioned by mastermind choreographer Marius Petipa. Tchaikovsky died less than a year later.
The ballet was first performed in the United States in 1944. The Nutcracker has become a classic — many people consider it the most popular ballet in the world.

It sounds like your family is having a lot of good food to celebrate Hannukkah! We will have lots of good things to eat on Christmas Eve, when our family will get together, but we only celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so you get to celebrate for a longer period of time. I got in trouble this morning - I thought that I smelled catnip in some of the presents under the tree, so I decided to investigate. Boy, was that the wrong thing to do! As I was pushing aside presents to find where the smell was coming from, Mom and Dad caught me, and I was relegated to the bathroom so that I could think about what I did wrong! After several hours, I was able to come out of there and quickly ran over to my little round bed and remained there most of the day! It is very warm here today, but our weather is to get much cooler on Thursday, and stay that way for a while. Are you all having cold weather? I don't like the cold, but I will be okay since I am an indoor cat. Have a lovely evening, a great Tuesday, and I am pawing all of you a vote! It is a very cold, but sunny day today! Mom fed both Whitey (our outside fursister) and Whitey's new furfriend, Orangie this morning! The two cats both left together, slowly walking down the sidewalk. It was so cute to watch!
