Hi Neli & Gonzo - Siamese,
I found all the breeds I research interesting. Today we are going to learn a little about the Siamese. This popular breed has developed two main lines. One is called the traditional and has a robust compact body and is called “apple-head”. The other has triangular shape head with large ears toward the base of the head and lith slender body. The latter is the one seen in shows. The Siamese is distinguished by a point color scheme. Colors accepted are seal, blue, chocolate and lilac. The Siamese originated in Southeast Asia and first seen in the United States when a kitten was a gift to President Rutherford B Hayes. This breed is extremely friendly, very vocal and likes to be around people. However, they do not adapt to strange surroundings and will bond strongly with one individual. Twelve breeds of cats have their beginning with the Siamese.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the breed blogs. I enjoyed doing them and learned so much about cats. Today we are visiting the American Bobtail. They can be found in all colors and patterns. The bob tail is from a mutant dominate gene at this date there is no bob cat’s genes in the bloodline. This breed is not related to the Japanese bobtail. It has a medium to large frame. The tail should not exceed the hock and be clearly visible from its back. The original line came from the breeding of short tailed brown tabby Yorkie and a female seal pointed Siamese. This blood line has died out. In 1980s new interest was developed. This new line was believed to be from Florida with mating between domestic cats and bob cats. It is now believed that the bob tail comes from a mutant gene and that there are no bob cat genes present. It face retains the wild look. . It is lively, intelligent and energetic cat that bonds with all the family members. It processes the ability to escape from close doors and latch cages. There are 134 American Bobtail on CC.

~*~Please vote COTD Sly #33464 Monday Feb 28th~*~
In honor of the final day of February, & Black Cat month, we’d like to present a special kitty to you that’s very deserving of his 2nd COTD badge. Sly #33464 is a 10 year old kitty with striking green eyes that lives with a very large feline family. He stays in the background & is fairly quiet on CC, although some of his other family members are frequent visitors to our community functions. Sly’s #33464 life started out very rough when he was thrown out with the trash as a small kitten. He was rescued & taken to an animal shelter where he spent nearly a year waiting for that special someone to come along & adopt him. His prayers were answered on April 17, 2002 when he was finally released from his prison & moved into his loving furever home. His motto of “A Loving Home is a Piece of Heaven on Earth” expresses his innermost feelings of finally finding a place to call his own. Please pounce by to meet Sly #33464 on February 28th & paw him a COTD vote. While you’re there please check out the poem on his page & you’ll understand why we think he’s the purrfect kitty to end up the month known for love, for black cats & a wonderful reason for adopting a shelter kitty.
