Bringing a Easter Basket & some history for u....
Springtime, pretty colors, children coloring eggs, hiding them, and the Easter Bunny. Easter is the holiest day for Christians, the day celebrating Christ's resurrection on the third day after Good Friday. This time of year is also associated with Passover, the holy Jewish holiday. So why a bunny?
Since ancient times, rabbits have been symbols of Easter partly due to pagan traditions, partly dueto religious symbolism. According to most encyclopedias, a rabbit, in the Christian tradition, symbolizes an innocent, vulnerable creature(much like a lamb), easily taken in by his enemies, and whose only real
defense is to run or be saved by his master. Christians say the rabbit may represent man being saved by Christ, or Christ himself, allowing himself to be "taken" as a lamb to the slaughter. The egg, a symbol too, represents the rebirth, as Christ rose on the third day. Even literature gets into the act. The Great Gatsby uses "West Egg" Long Island, New York (not a real town) to represent hope for new life, however fleeting, in F. Scott Fitzgerald's popular novel.
Pagans, on the other hand, have a different explanation of Easter. The pagans worshipped the Anglo-Saxon goddess of fertility: Eostre. Her symbol was the rabbit, and this symbol has reached across many cultures, standing the test of time. The pagans further celebrated spring by painting eggs in spring-like colors. But the Christian missionaries were not about to destroy this pagan tradition and alienate the "lost souls." Christian missionaries were said to celebrate this festival as well, skillfully using the comradeship to minister to them, trying to convert them.
A German lady friend of mine who now lives in Vienna said she remembers being taught that in the 1700s the Germans brought the symbol of the rabbit to America. She is aware of stories of how the German people started to make nests for the Easter bunny the night before. Nowhere, however, can we find why tradition has this Easter Bunny bringing the delicious baskets of chocolate, gifts most of us so anxiously looked forward to as children.
The bunny and the egg, albeit symbols, myths, and traditions, are here to stay, much to the delight of the young and old.

Hope everyone become aware of the possible dangers in pet food. My sister's dog died after tainted food was sold to unsuspecting customers and before there was even a recall to prevent his death. We were totally heartbroken.

The sun is shining today and it looks like mice day. I want attention so I am busy knocking items off the counter. I use several sources for my information. Any mistakes or additional information I would like to hear about Today we will visited the Abyssinian.
The Abyssinian cat is one of the most popular breeds. It has a medium dense silky hair. That gives the appearance of ticking. There are four colors recognize by Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). Ruddy is the most popular of the colors; others are Red, blue and fawn. The history of this cat is clouded in mystery. The name refers to Ethiopia but the breed is believed to have originated in Egypt. It is believe that this cat was purchased by colonists from wild animal traders. The first cat in England appeared in 1882. It reached the United States in 1900s. The Abyssinian is an active intelligent, talkative, inquisitive, cat. They appear shy around strangers and are exceptional hunters. They are able to jump 6 feet in the air. They have lean muscular bodies; the coat is medium length, dense and silky. The tail is as long as or longer than the body. The eyes are outline in black. They weigh between 9 to17 pounds. They are excellent companions. There are 213 Abyssinian on CC.

OMG what an adorable kitten in the profile picture! Happy National Hairball Awareness Day! Woo Hoo! Neither of us have problems with hairballs thank goodness. But we are shorthaired cats so that helps I think. It is a beautiful sunny day. The weekend is suppose to be nice too. Sunday Mom has a Pet Fair to go to and NKLV is selling raffle tickets for gift certificates we got from local merchants and other items to help raise funds. Hope it is a very profitable day for us. We have never been affected by any food poisonong. We eat Fancy Feast mostly asnd meow mix select and we need prescription dry food from the Vet. Where do we sign?
2 of our cats - Nala and Aroostesha both had acute renal failure as a result of the contaminated food. The vet bills were hefty. They recovered, but Nala now has chronic progressive kidney failure and is failing, but still not ready to cross the Bridge yet. Namaste. Thomas and the ARL Alumni. EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 54 & low was 37 this morning, now it's 51 with humidity 56% & wind is 5 MPH. Friday's suppose to be Sunny☼ & High 63.
First of all, we did a c/p COTD Thank You message last night for Giovani 80098 and we managed to get everyone who had stopped to Congratulate him on Wednesday. We didn't want anyone to think this was unappreciated and unrecognized.
Second, mom's hotmail email account has been compromised with a bug so please DO NOT open any attachments. All my emails I send out are signed in this manner:

Today turned out to be a warm beautiful sunny⚕ day and we all got to go out in the front yard.
Jazpyr 10428 is doing good with his diet. Mom has him on the Hills m/d can food. He seems to like it and mom also adds Pumpkin and water in the food. He is NOT allowed to have any dry food at all.
Whyskrs 10378 was feeling playful this morning so mom got one of the toy wands and played so Pappoose 10366 and I joined in the fun. Jazpyr gave it a few swats.
There is this place about three or four blocks from our house called ((WAG)) Willamette Animal Guild as they are a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. This is the place where mom took NeuBee 123633 in 2009, Kittzi 160203 and Sylvr Tuff 160205 in 2010 to have their Big Girl surgeries. Two nights ago they announced on our local news that WAG successfully did their 15000th surgery which was a Chihauhau doggie. They opened the business in 2008.
You can read our messages on the CMR page 46883 as we try to make it a point to post one there everyday.
We are sorry for not getting back to you last night. There's an email going around to write to them about keeping our foods safe. Mom sent an email to them, too. We eat Friskies Indoor dry and the outside kitties has Friskies Surf n' Turf dry.

We Have Kitties On Friskies Canned Food
Is it safe? Is Fancy Feast safe? Our kitty Big Black is almost toothless and in poor health. All he will eat is canned Friskies Whitefish and Tuna. Are we poisoning our precious Big Black?
