How We Met
After Phantom was retired to indoor only, we desperately needed a barn cat. A friend put us in contact with some folks who no longer could put up with their Roxy who kept bringing prey into their bedroom thru the pet door. We were so happy to have her. She loves the daily hunting trips, but we know to keep our pet door locked. Ha ha!

How are you and your family? We are finally having some rain
Sparky had a surgical biopsy last week. We are still waiting for the results. He is recovering from the surgery.
Hopefully there will be a good treatment so he can gain some weight back.

Weekend's here
It's always great to see through nice clear windows. Meowmy mainly does the inside. The outside second floor windows do not get done because she needs to go up the ladder. Her windows are sliders that don't pull out from the inside.

10/23/05: Gertrude Ederle was born in 1905. She was one of the most celebrated figures of the roaring 20s. Ederle won 3 Olympic medals and set 29 records in 1924 before her channel crossing.
At the age of 19 in 1926, she became the first woman to swim the English Channel with a time of 14 hours and 31 minutes. Her record stood for more than 50 years.
Her channel swim turned her into an international celebrity. Her ticker-tape parade in New York City drew more than 2 million people.
Ederle had poor hearing since childhood due to measles. By the 1940s, she was completely deaf. She spent much of the rest of her life teaching swimming to deaf children. She was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1965 and died in 2003.
Ederle's accomplishment sparked widespread interest in swimming. 63.5 million people enjoy swimming on a regular basis, making it one of the most popular sporting activities.

Sweet Moki's original home was not a happy one, in fact he suffered abuse and was going to be put down until he was rescued by his new family. He currently has kidney disease and some depression but this tough guy is a fighter. He even fought his way out of a house fire in 2007. Is he amazing or what?
