Hello Boys!
One more time! Mom is gonna TRY to get some of us caught up today. But we ain't making any promises! MOL!

Yesterday was our dog's B'day, so she got tons of visitors on DC. Mom has finished thanking all of them, so now it's time to do something for the important members of the family - US!

It's pouring rain here today, which mom loves, except she scrubbed all our door mats and left them out to dry yesterday. And then it started raining last night, so now the mats are wetter than they were before! :)

It's okay you guys didn't know you had a blog - the CC e-mail notifier hasn't been working for quite awhile. :( We think it's fixed now - keep your paws crossed!

Wow! You guys have a two hour drive to the vet's office? And I though we had it bad - ours is about 25 minutes, if mom really takes her time! :)

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. God willing, the weather will improve across the country and those terrible storms will blow away. Let's all pray for a gentle week to come. Purrs

Hey you two!
What have you been up to? Have you started getting your bad weather yet? We were supposed to have high winds yesterday and last night, up to 80 mph gusts. Well, it never happened. We had some wind - mom heard the highest gust recorded in our area was 47 mph. Right where we are it was probably a little higher, maybe in the 50 mph range. But nowhere near 80! They're calling for more wind today, so we shall see.

The only good news about the weather is that it was dry and warm - got up to 58* yesterday and mom had the windows open for awhile! Yippee! Hope your week is going well so far. Purrs.

Hi boys!
Aaaauugghhh!! I'm so happy to hear from you! It's kind of funny you should stop by, mom has just been thinking about some of our buddies we haven't heard from in awhile and was planning on maybe doing some fly-bys this weekend! So you got winter coming in? We're just about over ours here. No crying from me either. It will be nice to have the windows open again during the day!

So, your dad got your mom a snow shovel ... Hmm, I doubt our mom would be too thrilled with one of those, either! MOL! On the other hand, if she needs it, I guess, at least she'll have it, huh? How thoughtful.:)

Hope, Freedom, Amber, and Flag
Here is a little-known story of survival from the World Trade Center tragedy:

The World Trade Center recovery effort brought much sadness but there were also many tales of bravery and survival. They include one very resourceful cat. Beneath the destroyed area where the World Trade Center once stood, life was found in a forgotten basement. Rescuers discovered a blast survivor curled up in a carton of napkins. When the box was brought up, there were even more survivors - three kittens.

A mother cat had found her way into a safe, secure area to give birth to her kittens in a box of napkins. Into the horror and chaos of destruction, this little cat brought the miracle of life. Rescuers felt these little survivors needed names. Momma has been christened "Hope", and the babies are "Freedom", "Amber" and "Flag." It's very fitting for a family determined to survive against the worst of odds. The entire family was healthy and well, and were eventually adopted into furever homes.

The Legend of the Christmas Tabby
There was no snow that night in Bethlehem. Instead a small cat watched a starry sky from her perch in the window of a stable. She liked the stable, for it was a warm safe place to raise her babies, and the innkeeper sometimes left scraps out for her to nibble. Tabby wasn't particularly distinctive, and most humans didn't look at her twice. After all, her short grey, black fur was quite common. But Tabby's striped coat hid a heart bigger than cat's twice her size.

This night, though, Tabby was out of sorts, for she has not been able to hunt for her dinner. Traveler's had poured into town for days, so noisy they disturbed decent cat folks' rest. They invaded Tabby's quiet stable, a place she had shared before with only other furry creatures. Tabby hadn't minded the human couple, they were more calm than most. She'd left that morning for her rounds, but when she returned the stable was packed with people. From her perch on the window. Tabby watched the last of the strangers leave. She slipped from the window, and padded inside, then froze! Meww meww! cried a tiny voice. A kitten!

Tabby's ears turned this way and that to locate the kitten's voice. It came from the manger. Intent on the mewling that arose from within, Tabby was drawn by this kittenish sound, though she knew her own babies were grown to cat-hood. She tip-toed forward very slowly and passed by a woolly burro, a warm cow and other animals. The woman looked up and saw the striped cat. "Oh little cat", she murmured, "my baby cannot sleep, and nothing calms him this night". She sighed and turned back to the manger. " How grateful I would be if you could bring him some rest."

As Tabby watched, each stable animal step forward and tried to soothe the woman's baby, but the kittenish sounds continued, and finally Tabby could contain herself no longer. Quickly she washed herself: paws, face, and ears, to the very tip of her tail, and then she shyly stepped forward. She leaped gracefully into the manger and stared at the face of the most beautiful baby, human or kitten, she had ever seen. She very carefully drew in her claws and settled down beside him. Forgotten was her empty tummy, she could only hear her heart calling out to this sweet human kitten.

Then Tabby began to purr. This wondrous cat-song filled the stable with over-whelming emotion. The animals listened in awe, and the child's mother smiled as her baby quietly went to sleep. The child's mother placed her hand on Tabby's forehead . "Blessings upon you, Tabby Cat, for this sweet gift given to my child", she said. And where she'd touched Tabby's brow, there appeared an "M", the sign of Madonna's benediction.

From that day forward, all proper Tabby cats are honored with an "M" on their brow for the great service preformed the first Christmas night. And Christmas nights often find Tabby cat staring into the night, purring as they recall a very special ancestor who once sang a baby to sleep.
