hi angel patches, frisky and angel sibs
wow momma said they had some more nasty storms at home last night and it got one of her outlets that has a breaker and all the outlets on one side of the kitchen dont work and she had to pull the fridge out and run a heavy drop cord to it.

angels ping and et want to take angel gypsy out to celebrate her acotd today with a start at neptune's for brunch and then on to porcupine park and ride the paddle boats. they are bringing lizard lemonade and mousecicle bars and i am bringing some of my bluebird cookies also

momma also said she saw on the news this morning that a lady in oklahoma foune her two precious kitties after searching the debris for hours. one has a broken leg and the other is just fine. sure did put a big smile on momma's face
momma ordered and inspiron 15.6" with touch screen from dell. sure hope she likes it and it gets here soon so we can get to our hockey games again before playoffs are over.

♥ She was a beautiful Tuxedo girl who was also the Knight Matriarch! She was brought to us along with her littermate brothers Sam & Sly also littermate sister Aunt Samantha 15442 by their fur mama and fur dad [a Calico as well as a Tabby tom]. We were surprised about the tom helping with baby kittens. Not many toms would help out with kittens!

♥ The two pictures of Baby and me in her gallery is when she was under sedation before her Forever Sleep. That's also the first time I had gotten to hold her during her 12 years of life. Petting was not an issue as she loved that!

Gosh, I'm so sorry I have been out of touch lately. You would think now that mom is out of work, she spend more time answering our blogs, but she is looking for work.

I am so far behind I am answering blogs from April...oh gosh.

I have been doing well, just keeping busy working in my garden and playing Mouse Hockey...we are in Round 1 right now and my team {Orange Crush<Chicago Blackhawks>} just made it to round 2.

Me and my beautiful A. Aria have been walking around and seeing lots of pretty gardens around...you Angels sure have green paws when it comes to gardening.

We love to walk in the moonlight at night, it is so romantic, we sit in the Gazebo and star gaze.

Sometimes we even see Frogs hopping in and out of the Frog pond. Gotta love Spring/Summer on the Rainbow Bridge.

wow angel ping and et says the fish wrap features a new place called the tonkinese toad and they have everything from fowl to fish entrees. they want us all to take angel miss maggie out for a good celebratory brunch
and as it has been a hectic week just lay around in the cloud hammocks for the afternoon and drink their lobster lemonade with mice cubes. i told them i would bring some caterpillar and cricket pastries to go with.

angel ping and et have a great idea for this warm day so lets head over to cricket cove to practice our sand surfing and maybe even some hang gliding also. i have a new board i cant wait to try out. we can stop at the beetle booth for the fluffy catnip biscuits and hamster sausage and mouse gravy. they are bringing kit kats bars and lizard lemonade and i am bringing junebug cookies as well. fun fun day. dont forget ur sunscreen

gma is doing pretty good for now. momma has gotten her out of the bed all the time like she was doing. momma will decide in the next few days if she will come back home for now and go back later when momma really needs her there. gma promises if she does she wont go back to staying in the bed all the time and will get out and do stuff in the yard and such now that it is getting warmer, will just have to see.

It's cold today. yesterday was 77* and today is 44*...can you believe that? Quite a change...mom has all the doors and windows closed up today..can't blame her for that.

Wanna go fishin on Sunday morning?? I know a great place to catch them. We have a take a canoe up to the ION RIVER, but we'll catch a lot of fish.

I did enjoy the bakery and all the outings we take...we always have so much fun. I especially like Cloud Hoppin.

well i believe spring has finall sprung at my earth home, complete with the storms they say are heading that way tomorrow

angel ping and et want to head for the beach to do some practicing on our parasailing to get ready for summer. they have the catnip sunscreen, fluffy towels and pillows, umbrellas and picnic backet wit pastrami popovers and german sausage dogs. and mice cubes for the chinchilla lemonade.

Wow, I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since I have blogged my friends. So sorry...but mom has been *under the weather* lately.

I would love to go to that new bakery in town. I hear they have the best donuts and pies, etc. I was walking past the other day while bread was baking, and the smell was heavenly.

Let me know aht day would be good for you to go and we'll make a day out of it, pick up some baked goods, stop for catnip chicken, and tuna casserole bites and some cheese and drinks and have a picnic up on Lookout Hill.

i did so enjoy being ur queen last month i hope u all enjoyed my hillbilly stuff.
monty and i are taking a well earned rest here on pinto island, we went to a catberet last night for dancing and a crab dinner. then we strolled on the beach at sunset. is good to sit in the shade with catcoladas and bury our toes in the sand.
we got up early today so we could enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the ocean and it was pawsome. hope u are all well and your weather is gettin springy finally.

wow we are finally getting to blog some, momma was so busy with month end at work with over 20car deals and is still pretty covered up. we are heading over to angel ping and et for the ham hock, catberries and hamster bacon. and to play catopoly or go fish or watch movies, there is a mousetail marathon on and they have plenty of tuna tea and cricket cocoa and will be poppin caramel catcorn. sounds like a good day among friends

angel ping and et wants to head over to the meow and hiss for some breakfast. they have everything from tuna puff biscuits, to catnip egg scramblers and their salamander sausage is always good. they also want to go out to the meadows and pick pretty spring flowers for our parents for easter this sunday. that will make them real happy
we also need to color some extra easter eggs as queen josiemae has planned an easter egg hunt in the royal gardens at the castle this sunday before the coronation.
it will be fun watching them play and gather the catnip eggs

How to Catch a Possum
Since all the recipes will involve possum, I figured it might be worth it to include a section on how to get your hands on one.
I know of several ways to catch a possum. Perhaps the easiest is to simply drive around for a while in your truck. The problem will soon resolve itself.
(SCCRRRREEEEEEECCHHH!!. . . SPLAT. . .)
Much more fun, however, is to take your dogs and shotgun, and go into the woods and hunt one down. The advantage to this method is that you don't have to scrape the possum off the pavement. The disadvantage is that you do have to worry about shotgun pellets in the meat.
(OUCH! Dadgum it! There went my best tooth!)

Not to mention that a shotgun blast can really mess up the hide, which makes it a lot harder for the taxidermist.
It is also possible to set traps to catch a possum, but this method is notoriously unreliable. Possums like to stay in the trees, and you're much more likely to catch something else.
(Hey, Ed! There's something in the trap! See them bushes moving? Let's see what it is! . . . OH, $#&@! IT'S A SKUNK!!)
Another thing you might want to take into consideration is that possums are scavengers. They eat anything. If a possum is in the road, chances are he's there looking for lunch. Therefore, it's best to catch them alive if at all possible and feed them corn for a few days to clean them out real good before eating them. You just don't know whose garbage they've been into. After all, you wouldn't want to eat something that's been eating Aunt Edna's leftovers, would you? You know, she's the one who brings that stuff that nobody ever touches to the family reunion.
(Hey, man, what IS that stuff? I think it's still alive!)
Possums are also notoriously hard to kill, and they, well, play possum if they feel threatened. (That's why they're called possums!) I remember hearing about someone who had a possum get in his garage one time. He was real mad about something, and having a possum rooting around in his garage making a mess just made it worse, so he took after that thing with a shovel. The possum never had a chance. He did have to chop its head off to make sure it was dead; otherwise they just get up and walk off. It was real strange; right after he beheaded the possum, lightning or something struck the garage, blowing out all the lightbulbs and giving him quite a shock. (If you don't get the joke here, don't worry.)
Of course, if you take this page seriously anyway... you might be a redneck.

A hillbilly was stopped by a game warden in Kentucky recently with two ice chests of fish. He was leaving a cove well known for its fishing.
The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"
"Naw, sir, I ain't got none of them there licenses, no. You must understand, these here are my pet fish."
"Pet fish?" asked the game warden.
"Yeah. Every night I take these here fish down to da lake and let them swim 'round for a while. Then I whistle and they jump rat back into this here ice chest and I take them home."
"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!" says the warden.
The hillbilly looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, "It's the truth, Mr. Government man, I'll show you. It really works."
"Okay," said the game warden, "I've GOT to see this!"
The hillbilly poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited.
After several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, "Well?"
"Well, what?" asked the hillbilly.
The warden said, "When are you going to call them back?"
The hillbilly said, "Call who back?"
"The FISH!" replied the warden.
"What fish?" asked the hillbilly.
In Kentucky, we may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we ain't as dumb as folks think...

An old farmer went to town to see a movie. When he arrived at the ticket booth, the ticket agent asked, "Sir, what's that on your shoulder?"
the old farmer said, "That there is my pet rooster, Chuck. Wherever I go, Chuck goes."
"I'm sorry sir," said the ticket agent. "We can't allow animals in the theater."
The old farmer went around the corner and stuffed the bird down his overalls. He returned to the ticket booth, bought a ticket and entered the theater.
He sat in the only empty seat, next to two old widows named Mildred and Marge. The movie started and soon the rooster began to squirm. The old farmer was compelled to unbutton his fly so that Chuck could stick his head out and watch the movie.
"Marge," whispered Mildred.
"What?" said Marge.
"I think the guy next to me is a pervert."
"What gives you that idea?" asked Marge.
"He undid his pants and has his thing out," whispered Mildred.
"Well, don't worry about it," said Marge. "At our age, it ain't like we've haven't seen 'em all."
"I thought so, too," admitted Mildred, "but this one's eatin' my popcorn!"

well i am gonna channge from my usual blogs and give u some info on st patricks day and then we are off to ireland to sir pushkin's pawty. momma spent yesterday doing things for and with gma so we didnt get on

okay here we go

The person who was to become St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Wales about AD 385. His given name was Maewyn, and he almost didn't get the job of bishop of Ireland because he lacked the required scholarship.

The Pagan Saint?
Far from being a saint, until he was 16, he considered himself a pagan. At that age, he was sold into slavery by a group of Irish marauders that raided his village. During his captivity he became a Christian and adopted the name Patrick.

He escaped from slavery after six years and went to Gaul where he studied in the monastery under St. Germain, bishop of Auxerre for a period of twelve years. During his training he got the notion that his calling was to convert the pagans to Christianity.

His wishes were to return to Ireland, to convert the native pagans to Christianity. But his superiors instead appointed St. Palladius. But two years later, Palladius transferred to Scotland. Patrick was then appointed as second bishop to Ireland.

Spreading the "Truth"
Patrick was quite successful at winning converts. And this fact rightfully upset the Celtic Druids, who had their own native religion. Patrick was arrested several times, but escaped each time. He traveled throughout Ireland, establishing monasteries across the country. He also set up schools and churches which would aid him in his indoctrination of the Irish country into Christianity.

His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. He died on March 17 in AD 461. That day has been commemorated as St. Patrick's Day ever since.

Maewyn Myths
Much Irish folklore surrounds St. Patrick's Day. Not much of it is actually substantiated.

Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead. He also is said to have given a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday.

Symbolism
One traditional icon of the day is the shamrock. And this stems from a more bona fide Irish tale that tells how Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity. He used it in his sermons to represent how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

The St. Patrick's Day custom came to America in 1737. That was the first year St. Patrick's Day was publicly celebrated in this country, in Boston.

the temp at my earth home this morning was 29 with snow flying and then for sunday is to be 64!!!!! georgia has had some crazy weather this winter.

it is very windy today so lets just stay in if u want and i can fix us some mousechili and we can watch movies or play games and have some good hot toddies later, and we can talk about what we can do to help queen josiemae decorate the maison de josiemae (castle) for st patrick's day.

i have not decided what i will blog about, but if u want to hear more of our cures, ways and such there is plenty more to tell so just let me know.

OUR LAST DAY TOGETHER WILL BE ON PREVENTIVE CURE-ALLS

SPRING TONICS

Take wild cherry tree bark, yellow poplar bark, and yellowroot boiled, strained and mixed with white liuor.
Mix together some sulfur and molasses and eat.
Eat rhubarb once a week.

SALVES

Take about two tablespoons of mutton tallow, and heat it in a frying pan with about six balm of gilead buds. Mash the buds up while the mixture cools and when the grease is all out of the buds, strain the mixture. Put it in a jar and cover it. The salve is clear and will last for years.

Take one cup of pine resin, about one ounce of camphor-phenique, one cup of mutton tallow, and ten to fifteen balm of gilead bulbs. Put it all in a frying pan and heat until liquid. Mash the buds until all juice is out of them. Strain and put into jars and cover.

For bed wetting, feed the child a couple of elderberries, or red sumac berries at bedtime

For any serious child illness, take some blood from the child’s arm, put it on a grain of corn, and feed it to a black hen.
To prevent takein contagious dieseses, tie asafetida around the neck.

Give a grouchy person a tea made of violet blossoms.

GET CHEWING GUM OUT OF HAIR

take a hlf tsp of peanut butter and smear it together with the gum until it dissolves then wash out.

HICCUPS

Putting vinegar on sugar in a spoon and takint that is said to stop them.

wet a leaf of tobacco and put it on ur stomach

take nine sups of water, they will stop

if u could remember the last place u saw a fron that had been run over by a car on the road, will cure hiccips

angels ping and et want to go to possum park for a picnic as they have restocked their pantry. they are fixing lobster sammies and have catnip chips, mouse mustard, catato salad sprinkled with crunchy grasshoppers with dinasaur dressing. they are also bringing fresh baked cricket cookies with toad drizzle and i am bringing junebug jelly for the cookies and we can take angel sweet pea to celebrate his acotd win today. we can chase squirrels and birds all afternoon

EAR ACHE

Pour drops of juice from the buddie bloome (sweet shrub) into the ear.
Dissolve table salt in lukewarm water and pour into ear. This dissolves the wax which is causing the pain.
Put either wet ashes wrapped in a cloth or hot ashes in a sack on the ear and hold there.
Save the liquid that boils out of the ends of hickory and persimmon wood when burned, and pour into ear.
Pour castor oil or sweet oil into the ear
Put several drops of sewing machine oil in the ear.
Roast cabbage stalks and squeeze the juice into the ear
Break apart a betty bug at the neck and squeeze one or two drops of blood into ear
Warm a spoonful of urine and put a few drops in ear
Hold your head close to a hot lamp
Put a few ashes in an old rag. Dampen it with hot water and sleep with your head on it.

FEVER

Take a bag containing the suffer’s nail clippings to a live eel. It will carry the fever away
Snakeroot tea will bring it down
Boil two roots of wild ginger in a cup of water, strain and drink

BEE STINGS

Chew or mash ragweed and put it on sting to deadan pain and reduce swelling
Put moist snuff, mud, tobacco juice, or red clay on sting.
Put castor oil on sting
Take seven different kinds of leaves. Wad and twist them together. Tear the wad in half and rub the sting.
Place either turpentine, chewed tobacco, kerosene or a mixture of sugar and dough on the sting.

as it is raining and angel ping and et thought we could all stay in and set up a bake shop and make some of those buttery breakfast strudels and we can get a good workout from rolling out the dough.they have catnip pastry cream and catberry fillings for them. they need us to knead and roll the dough to help out and the have beetle breakfast sausage and biscuits and tuna coffee. we are heading over..

COLDS

Make a tea from the leaves of boneset. Drink the tea when it has cooled. It will make you sick if taken hot. Leaves of this plant may also be cured out and saved for use in teas during the winter months

Make a tea from powdered ginger, or ground up ginger roots. Do not boil the tea, but add the powdered root to a cup of hot water and drink. Add honey and whiskey if desired.

Boil pine needles to make a strong tea.
Take as much powdered quinine as will stay on the blade of a knife, add to water and drink.
Parch red pepper in front of a fire. Powder it cook it in a tea and add pure white corn liquor.
Drink lamb’s tongue and whiskey tea.
Drink whiskey and honey mixed
Drink red pepper tea
Eat onions roasted in ashes
Eat a mixture of honey and vinegar
Drink tea made from wintergreen fern
Take a three pound can of pine twigs and rabbit tobacco. Boil together and strain. Drink some every three hours, taking no more than one full juice glass within a 12 hour period.
Drink some of the brine from kraut put up in churn jars. It makes you thirsty and you will drink more water.

HEADACHES

Bind wilted beet leaves on the forehead.
Tie a flour sack around your head.
Put several ginseng roots in a piece of brown paper and tie it to your head.
Put turpentine and beef tallow in a bandage and tie it tightly around your head.
Pour hot water over mustard leaves to rouse their odor and strength. Bind these leaves in a poultice to the head with a cheesecloth strip.
Smear your brow with crushed onions.
When you get your hair cut, gather up all the clippings. Bury them under a rock and you will never have a headache. Oldtimers would never allow their hair to be burned or thrown away as it was too valuable.
Use a poultice of horse radish leaves.
Rub camphor and white whiskey on the head.

Thanks sooo much everyone!
So sorry I haven't been on to blog. Mom has been sooo busy first with going to a funeral five hours away, staying up super late, and then working a lot, she has just been too exhausted to get on to blog. So then she gets on today to reply to the blogs that she thought she would have as I was supposed to have been collecting votes today, and she sees that instead I have won a day early! she just got a good scare, but is without her car now for the next 2-3 weeks as things are moving forwards, but for the mail end very slow as the mail has slowed down! nice weather down on snow from 24" to 11" and likely we'll lose more this week through friday for melting, settling and then again next mon/tues with fog/warming temps/showers. sandy, ana, haley, angels

PRESERVING CONTINUED TODAY

PICKLING

Be sure that the signs are not in the bowels. When the moon is new is the best time to make kraut, pickle beans, corn or green tomatoes. If the signs are in the bowels, they will be slimy or soft and not fit to eat.

SOUR KRAUT
Select firm cabbage heads and chop. Have a clean churn jar, usually 5 gallon, and pack the jar with alternating layers of choped cabbage and a sprinkling of salt, usually a half cup salt per gallon of cabbage. You need not add water as the cabbage will produce it’s own.

When the jar is filled, cover the cabbage with a clean white cloth, large cabbage leaves, or a saucer. The place a flat flint rock or other weight on top of this to hold the cabage under the brine. Let this stand ten day, or as long as necessary to get it as sour as you want.

When this is completed, take the kraut out and pack it in canning jars. Then put the jars in a pot of water and bring to a boil to both seal the jars and cook the cabbage. Some folks like to leave it in the churn, but it turns dark. Some add hot pepper to the churn for additional flavoring

PICKLE BEETS
Boil beets six to 8 hours until soft, and the skin slips off easily. Drain the water, peel the beets and cut the into small cubes. Put the beets into a large pot and for every quart, add a cup each of sugar and vinegar. Bring the mixture to a boil. Stirring once in a while. Put into cans and seal.

LEATHER BRITCHES BEANS
String tender green beans. Fill a long needle with a long strong thread. Push needle through the center of the bean, pushing the beans together at the end of the thread, filling from knot to end of needle. Hang up the string by one end in the warm air, but not in direct sunlight. This gives the beans a better flavor. Let them remain hanging until the beans become dry. Store in a bag until ready to use.

PEAS
Pick the peas when ripe, and lay them in the sun to dry. After they are thoroughly dry, place them on a sheet outside on a windy day, and beat the hulls off with a stick. The wind will blow the chaff away and leave just the peas. Store the peas in sacks in a dry place until you’re ready to eat em.

PRESERVING BY BURYING

CABBAGE
Dig a shallow circular trench on a gently sloped plot of ground. The diameter of the trench will depend on the number of cabbages u plan to preserve. Also dig a drainage ditch leading downhill and away from the circular trench. This will serve to drain off any surface water that might accumulate and rot the cabbages.
Throw the dirt from the trench into the center of the circle, thus making a low mound. Cover the mound with straw. Pull up cabbages root and all. Place the cabbages on the mound so that the root of each is covered by the head of another. Then cover with straw and dirt. They will keep most of the winter

POTATOES
Dig a hole a foot or two below the frost line. Put in potatoes and cover with straw, and pack dirt over that. Put a piece of tin over this. They will keep all winter.

HOME REMEDIES
Blood builders:
When the sap is up, take the green bark of the wild cherry tree and boil it to make tea

Take leaves of the lady’s slipper, dry them, and beat them to a powder ( u can wrap them in a rag to do this). Put this powder into a can, add water, let sit and them give a spoonful three times a day.
Take the young leaves of the poke plant, parboil them, season, fry and the eat several messes
Make sassafras tea using the roots of the plant
Put some yellowroot in a quart can of whiskey and let the root soak it up. U can add some cherry bark for flavor

BROKEN ARM

Make a mixture of red clay and water. Put splints on each side of the arm and plaster it up with the clay. When the clay dries, put the arm in a sling

BURNS

Put hot coals on the burned place and pour water over them. The steam will draw the fire out
Powder hot coals and put this warm powder on the burn.
Take table salt and dissolve it in warm water. Wrap the burn in gauze and keep it constantly warm and moist with applications of the salt water.
Boil chestnut leaves and place the resulting ooze on the burn.
Bind castor oil and egg whites around the burn with a clean cloth
The scrapings of a raw white tater will draw the fire
Linseed oil will draw out the fire
Scrape the inside of a white potato. Put the scrapings on the burn and leave them there until they turn black and the burn turns white.

I SURE HOPE I AM NOT BORIN U WITH OUR OLD BUT GOOD WAY OF LIFE HERE IN THE HILLS.

The signs always appear in sequence, beginning with the Ram or head and working their way down to pisces, the fish or feet. Following pisces, the ram appears again beginning a new sequence.

Each of the signs is known as being either masculine, feminine, airy, dry, barren, firey, earthy, moist, watery, fruitful, or very fruitfull. In general any acativity that requires a dry atmosphere such as painting, should be done in one of the dry signs; and an activity requiring moisture, such as some planting, should be done on one of the moist or fruitful signs.

The best time of all, of course, to conduct any activity is when a day falls on both an ideal sign and a good phase of the moon.

Over the years, a more specific set of rules has grown up around the zodiac which governs such activities as planting and harvesting. These rules take into account both the sign governing the day and the phase of the moon on that particular day. At the beginning of the planting season, for example, the farmer consults his calendar, picks out one of the 14 favorqble days that occur every month, and plants only on one of these 14 fruitful days. Should he miss and plant his crops on one of the unfruitful days, his crips will not produce at half their ability, and it is said that even a few hours can make the difference between success and failure.
