Tomorrow's magical & spectacular SUPER-MOON 5/5/12
This Saturday at 11:35 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the moon will be at a distance of 221,802 miles away. At its peek time, this SUPER-moon will look 14 to 16 percent bigger, 30 percent brigher and be 17,053 miles closer to earth (average distance to moon 238,855 miles).
The best time to gaze at our moon in awe and start snapping shots will be either just after the moon rises or right before it starts to set. In other words, it looks largest when it's closest to the horizon.

Mafia #181626 is turning 24 years old today, November 1st, & we’ve planned a big celebration for him! This handsome Siamese guy was picked up at a breeder by his dad & given to his mom on the first Christmas after they started dating. Mafia #181626 is a lucky guy to have left the breeder’s home when he did because shortly after he came to his furever home; all the other sweet kitties were lost in a fire. Mafia #181626 has the unique ability to notify his parents of any trespassers on their property by howling extremely loudly to alert them. His mom thinks he developed this special 6th sense after a bad neighbor injured his jaw with a hockey stick several years ago. Mafia #181626 survived the 1 ½ hour surgery & slowly awakened from the anesthesia 7 ½ hours later. This tough survivor guy now spends his days in the lap of luxury with his own heated pillow on his mom’s bed or in his custom built chalet in his very own room! He’s also recently acquired a set of kitty stairs to help him get into higher places so he can keep an eye on things like he’s so used to doing. VOTE FRECKLES 210423 on Mon Oct 24 for COTD
Freckles started out as a feral kitten living under a shed. When the dogs started barking at the spot Freckles’ soon to be Dad found her and she then became part of a new family in a furever loving home. She is quite the little hunter now. She decided go on an hunting trip in the house and let her Mom’s mouse out of it’s cage. She’s now trying to figure out how to get at her Mom’s fish. A difficult task but she is quite the persistent kitty. She lives with her adopted fur mom Patches as well as a pup named Palin..She loves wrestling with them both. She also loves smacking around a crinkle ball and causing chaos any way she can…

Today’s special recognition kitty is a beauty to behold. MEI-LI #215284 is ½ Japanese Bobtail & ½ Siamese so you know you’ll be stunned by her sweet smile & beautiful eyes before you even meet her. MEI-LI #215284 was sitting in the animal shelter waiting for the purrfect family on 7/28/11 when some people walked in to look for a kitty sibling for their other cat Philippe. They saw her sitting there & were immediately drawn to the beautiful blue eyed girl with the short fuzzy tail. It was absolute love at first sight! Her future was sealed & she left the shelter that day to go to her new furever home. She’s extremely playful so her new brother Philippe was happy to welcome her to the family as his new playmate. MEI-LI #215284 has definitely put her paw prints on the hearts of her parents & brings great joy as she romps through the house. Her paws are itching for some added excitement though so let’s not disappoint her. How are you today? Wez have a warm late summer day here, in the 80's! Mom said that we're gonna get a lot cooler now and wez are not ready for it. Wez want summer to last a lot longer! She is beautiful. I have a weakness for black-and-white cats (I call them "cow cats"). You can tell from these pictures that she loves to pose and loves you very much. Thank you for the comment about Marbles. She is my soulmate. Who needs a guy when you can have a cat with personality, right???

Does your cat give you that non-blinking begging stare whenever you munch on a burger with all the trimmings? Here's a healthy feline version that's easy to prepare.
Kitty Cheeseburger
3 ounces ground beef
2 tablespoons chicken broth
3 tablespoons whole wheat bread crumbs
1 egg
1 small carrot, steamed and finely chopped
1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
1. In a medium-sized bowl, mash together the ground beef, chicken broth, bread crumbs, egg, and carrot.
2. Form the meaty mixture into two small burger patties.
3. Place the patties on a greased cookie sheet and broil the burgers until they are cooked through.
4. Remove the burgers from the oven and sprinkle the cheese on top.
5. Allow the cheese to melt and the burgers to cool. Serve patties one at a time, broken up into kitty-bite-size pieces.
