Where are we going? A. Shai asks
as after leaving hockey (where her team beat Mike’s, she just has to marvel again!) Evie turns her ’56 Ford Fairlane north on Silver Strand Boulevard from Queen Spunky’s Imperial Cabin. Evie tells him it’s a very awesome place that Mike & Dolly told her about and he’ll see in due time. Soon she turns again and they pull up in front of a sign reading “The Gondola Company”
“We’re here,” Evie says and A. Shai walks around to open the door for her. He can’t believe his eyes when they are soon met by what certainly appears to be a Venetian gondolier dressed in striped shirt and straw hat, who soon gets them settled into their seats in a very authentic-looking Venetian gondola. Right here in San Diego! After handing them soft blankets, the gondolier also produces an ice bucket into which he has put the bottle of Laurent Perrier Brut Rose that Evie slipped him when they arrived. Once the two kitties are settled, the gondolier also sets down two wine glasses which he tells them they may keep as souvenirs after the cruise.
Soon, they are enjoying a romantic Venetian style gondola ride the scenic canals and waterways of the Coronado Cays, while they nibble on luscious kosher chocolate covered strawberries and enjoy the champagne. Then, as if this weren’t perfect enough, their gondolier begins to sing:
“Oh this is the night, it's a beautiful night

TO A SHAI FROM K WIN
Hello K Win
How are you? Yesterday I visited Dr. William for my annual checkup, blood work (CBC, 6-panel, T3 & T4), shots and 3-month Schirmer eye test. First the good news – my eyes are doing well.
Mommy’s intuition told her something was going on with me, so now the not-so-good mews. I am in the very early stages of kidney disease:
My BUN level = 38 (normal is 16-36)
My Creatinine = 2.6 (normal is .8-2.4)
Dr. William says we caught this early. For now, we are going to treat it by changing my diet to Prescription Diet k/d. So far, I am eating both the k/d canned and the k/d dry food. We will recheck my levels in 3 months.
I also have a UTI, so I am taking Clavamox, the wonder drug. My thyroid level (T4) is in the “grey area” so Dr. William sent some of my blood to Texas A&M so they can run a test called T4 by Equilibrium Dialysis. We should receive those results next week.
As you can imagine, Mommy is very upset, stressed, & worried about me. Please keep us in your prayers.

Good Evening Angel Shai
Princess Diaries: We come by with my Magical Healing Purrs from me and Mommy sends healing positive thoughts for your Mom...Our wish is that she has a peaceful, feel good, happy Mother's Day...Today we had our first really warm day...Of course when you live on the shore there is almost always an ocean breeze so it is cooler by the beach...The temp was 72 today and off shore they actually hit 80... I wish the temperature would stay like this thru the summer...We hate when it's hot and humid and today it was purrfect...Of course the downside of this nice weather is Daddy will be playing golf a lot...Today was his first golf day of the season (he has a set Friday date with a buddy when weather permits) but he made sure to have lunch with Mommy & I first...Of course he surprised us with a big box of huge Strawberries and Chocolate...Do you think he was bribing us?...MOL...Duh!!!...Daddy thinks he's slick what he doesn't know is Mommy and I think he deserves to play Golf but we like to tease him about leaving us all alone...Mommy says she is a golf widow and I am the poor child being deserted for better things....HKL, the woman can really pour it on....Daddy says Mommy is so silly, personally I think she is pretty funny...After lunch he and Mommy made Chocolate Covered Strawberries together and then Daddy fed me a nice, juicy , "plain" Strawberry...Oh how I wanted the Chocolate one but we all know Chocolate is "TOXIC" to kitties...Anywho, it was Daddy's first time feeding me a Strawberry...Mommy usually gives me my Strawberry fix...Daddy said I was so funny slurping it up and rubbing it all over my whiskers and cheeks and then rubbing my face all over his hands...Mommy actually took a video of it and then she posted it on the FB/CC Survivors Page today...Is nothing sacred in my family...What am I going to do with the woman's need to blab all my personal and private moments to the whole world...I have come to the conclusion Mommy is incorrigible...Well, it's never a dull moment around my house...I think Mommy & Daddy are both amusing, at least to me...MOL...This almost ends this weeks episode of " The Princess Diaries "....This weeks quote is so very true except when it concerns STRAWBERRIES..." You give but little when you give of your possessions..It is when you give of yourself that you truly give " - Khalil Gibran.... I’m sure glad you could come along today on Queen Spunky’s trip to Balboa Park in San Diego. I’ve really enjoyed walking with you in the different gardens, the Japanese Friendship Garden makes me think of what it must be like at the Bridge! I just love it here with the Zen garden, cherry blossoms and the waterfall. And I’m really glad that you could be with me when this exciting news came in. FOOD STAMPS FOR CATS: New Program Helps Low-Income Families Keep Their Companions

The Pet Food Stamps program, a registered NYS non-profit corporation, has been created to fill the void in the United States Food Stamp program which excludes the purchase of pet food & pet supplies. In these rough economic times, many pet owners are forced to abandon their beloved pet to animal shelters due to the inability to pay for their basic food supply & care.
There are over 50 million Americans who currently receive Food Stamps, many with dogs or cats, who simply cannot afford to feed their animals, and these cherished companions are dropped off at animal shelters where they will most likely be put to sleep. Many people are also forced to choose between feeding their pets or themselves.
A recent New York Times article states that “animal shelters have reported a steep rise in the number of cats & dogs being surrendered as owners face unemployment, home foreclosures, evictions & other financial hardships.” As more families struggle with difficult choices like paying the rent or buying food, some have to choose between keeping their pet & putting food on the table.
Seven million pets are surrendered to shelters each year due to the inability of pet parents to pay for food, with four million of those pets put to sleep. The Pet Food Stamps program aims to eliminate the needless death of these loving pets & keep families together.
The Pet Food Stamps program, due to the generosity of contributors & patrons, are able to eliminate that heart-wrenching decision by making sure these pet owners are given free monthly home delivery of all necessary food supplies to maintain the health & vitality of their pets.
The program is available to U.S. residents who are currently receiving food stamps, or whose income is around or below the poverty level. Applicants complete a brief online form. Due to the popularity of the program, which speaks to its great need, approval of applications currently takes several weeks. Pet Food Stamps is getting up to 3000 requests per day, and more than 45,000 people have already signed up.
Once need is determined & the application approved, the families get pet food each month for a 6-month period from pet food retailer PetFlow. It is supported by private donations.
With the continued growth of the Pet Food Stamps program, the founders hope to expand the program later this year to include offering free or heavily discounted veterinary care for qualified program beneficiaries.

I'm glad you could get there in time for us to spend some time together before we have to go back to Queen Trixie's Royal Cabin to get ready for the Coronation. I have a special gift from the family I'm working on for her retirement and I'd sure like it if I could get you to put a few stitches in it, too, before I finish it off. Yes, it's another quilt! I've been spending so much time around the Amish kitties in Indiana during Queen Trixie's reign that I've picked up some skills. Hope you had a good birthday! I enjoyed the roller coaster and rides at Cyndee Foo Foo’s, and thanks for suggesting “The Aristocats” after hockey yesterday. Would you believe I had never seen that one?? We made up for it by seeing the Disney “Robin Hood” about eleven billion times when the Big Bros and Sisses were little! Anyway, I have to get Mom to get that one out of the library so she & Mike & Mallow can see it, too. I laughed like crazy and I sniffled a bit at moments, too. Ten motorcycles come thundering down the street. All are Harleys, such beautiful machines shining in the sunlight.
The pull into Angel Shai's driveway, get off their bikes and take off their helmets. Zoe Monique, Cyndee, Thundie, Mallow, Q. Lola, Ammie, Talley, Dasher.Elvis and Kali go to Angel Shai's front door. Thundie rings the bell.. When Angel Shai's mom comes to the door, each member of the Hairballz give her a huge kitty hug and Zoe Monique gives her a beautiful bouquet of white roses.
We are hear to honor the birthday of sweet Angel Shai. We hope you have wonderful memories of your lifr together that put a huge smile on your face today.
