How We Met
Mom's mom and grandmother went to the grocery store one day and I was being held in the arms of a homeless couple. They had me and a couple other kitties in crates. My mom's grandmother swooned over me and loved on me and cradled me in her arms. My mom's mom caved and brought me home. My mom's cat, Sammy, had recently passed away and was very lonely utnil I came around.

Music, dancing, appetizers - parties usher in 2013 The first New Year's celebration dates back to around 2000 BC in Mesopotamia. The Times Square celebration began in 1904, when The New York Times opened its headquarters and hosted a big party, complete with fireworks, on New Year's Eve. In 1907, the paper's head electrician constructed a giant lighted ball, made of wood and iron, weighed 700 pounds, and was lit by a hundred 25-watt bulbs. Today, it's made of Waterford crystal, weighs almost six tons, and is lit by more than 32,000 LED lights. The party in Times Square is attended by up to a million people every year. Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but New Year's celebrations can be so delightful! And since you've got a place to go--to see the ball fall--let us go, let's go, here we go! Other cities have developed other ball-dropping traditions: Atlanta, Georgia, drops a giant peach. Eastport, Maine, drops a sardine. Ocean City, Maryland, drops a beach ball. Mobile, Alabama, drops a 600-pound electric Moon Pie. Tempe, Arizona has a giant tortilla chip which descends into a massive bowl of salsa. Brasstown, North Carolina drops a Plexiglas pyramid containing a live possum. Key West, Florida, drops an enormous ruby slipper with a drag queen inside it. Quote from the movie New Yr's Eve: "And as you all can see, the ball has stopped half way to its perch. it's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop, and reflect on the year that has gone by, to remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken, the times we opened ourselves up to great adventures... or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt, because that's what new year's all about, getting another chance, a chance to forgive. to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more, and to stop worrying about what if... and start embracing what will be. so when that ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, and not just tonight but all year long." Oprah chimes in, "Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right." While brave, enthusiastic merrymakers, revelers and tourists from across the globe flood Times Square to withstand the fierce winds and bone-chilling weather, mom will watch the festivities from the comfort of her cozy home. Fond memories, friendly smiles and warm hearts keep us bubbly and sparkling. We heartily toast the countdown to 12a.m. with friends and loved ones. •*´¨`*•. ¸¸.•*´¨`*•.¸¸ ::: (\_(\ ...*...*. ..*...*.. *: (=' :') :::::::: Chloe •.. Two poems for our FurFriends Catch a Little Rhyme by Eve Merriam Once upon a time I caught a little rhyme ...I set it on the floor ...but it ran right out the door ......I chased it on my bicycle ......but it melted to an icicle ..........I scooped it up in my hat ..........but it turned into a cat I caught it by the tail but it stretched into a whale ...I followed it in a boat ...but it changed into a goat ......When I fed it tin and paper ......it became a tall skyscraper ..........Then it grew into a kite ..........and flew far out of sight... .(¯`v´¯),•.²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²²² ..`•.,,.•´¯` •.,,.•´¯`•. ,,.•´¯`•. Meteors in annual showers originate as grains of dust or ice in space, left behind by comets. After midnight, the part of Earth you’re standing on has turned so that you face head on into the incoming stream of space debris. So you typically see more meteors after midnight – unless the moon happens to rise in the middle of the night. Although the moon may wash out some Leonid meteors, it acts as your guide to the meteor shower radiant and the red planet Mars. The annual Leonid meteor shower ramps up a few additional streaks of light and gets underway in November 6. With the Moon currently waxing toward Full, the best views will come before dawn tomorrow and Tuesday in the hour or two after the Moon sets. Seize the weekend ((¯`v´¯))Oct 22: Make a Difference Day((¯`v´¯)) Make A Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. This is the nation’s largest volunteering day. Millions of Americans rally into action to help change and make the world a better place through undertakings that include revitalizing community centers, rehabilitating parks, improving low-income homes, creating community art projects, mentoring, serving meals, developing community gardens and much more. Seize the day, seize the moment, inspire, equip and mobilize corporations, nonprofit organizations, families and individuals to improve communities throughout the year. “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience and just plain love for another.” - Erma Bombeck 1861 1st telegraph line linking West & East coasts completed 1914 U.S.A. Smile and the world smiles with you ((¯`v´¯))October 7: World Smile Day(¯`v´¯)) The first Friday of October each year marks World Smile Day, a day to do one act of kindness. Spread a little happiness to make the world a better place. Harvey Ball, creator of the now famous yellow smiley face, thought the logo was becoming too commercial and losing its real meaning. Here's your furrfriend's smiling VOTE! Leaves are falling all around Red, yellow, orange, and brown. Twirling, swirling to the ground Look how many leaves I've found! Come little leaves, said the wind one day, Come o'er the meadows with me and play; Put on your dresses of red and gold - For summer is gone and the days grow cold. Leaves in the autumn came tumbling down, Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown. Leaves in the garden were swept in a heap, Trees were undressing ready for sleep. Where did Wednesday go? ((¯`v´¯)) Wednesday's kitty is a hero ((¯`v´¯)) Middle English: Wednesdei, Old English: wodnesdæg -Wodnesday, Latin: Mercurii "day of Mercury". Romance languages: mercredi (French), mercoledì (Italian), miércoles (Spanish), miercuri (Romanian), dimecres (Catalan), Marcuri or Mercuri (Corsican). German: Mittwoch (literally: "mid-week"). "Hump day" means you're getting over the hump/obstacle of the work week towards the goal of an awesome weekend. --- Here's my VOTE. It's Wednesday by Freya It's already Wednesday - half the week is gone Yet another Wednesday of things I haven't done The week flies by like an aeroplane, that's got no destination And now it's already Wednesday - How'd three days get wasted?!? It's already Wednesday I'll make a list of things to do – (and) get as much as I can Cross off what's done - carry the rest to the next day SAMANTHA had "eight days a week" - maybe I could borrow one?
