About Me
Active within 1 Day
Hi! My name is Bouie - #220743 ~~Off line~~
I am Domestic Mediumhair from Byram, MS
Nicknames: Mr Boo, Bouie Boooo
Age: 2 years old
Gender: M
Coat: short haired
Education: ***************- *************** Received COTD --- 10/29/2011 Received RCOTD -- 10/29/2011 Member of Kitty Poets Society 2nd place in the December 2012 Holiday Contest. ***************- ************** My siblings & I survived after being thrown from a moving truck in a sack. That gave me a quick education on what could happen in life. But thanks to a sweet lady who saw what happened, picked us up & took us to a Vet in Greenville MS to be cared for. From there I Went to CARA Rescue Center in Jackson MS where we were placed for adoption at Pet Smart.
My favorite tricks and treats are: I like to do flips in the air when playing with toy's, & get my Mama's attention when she's sleeping by tickling her with my whiskers. and Catnip of course! I will roll in it for 30 minutes.
Where I hang out: I love to lay under the window sill in my Mama's bedroom, along with Ollie, watching the birdie's and squirrels. (Window TV.)
My favorite grubs: I stay healthy on Science Diet & Elegant Medley's Fancy Feast
My pet peeves: I have one sister that gives me a hard time, but I've learned to stand up to her!
What I love about my owners: My Mama cared enough to take me in & give me a loving home even though she already had 3 kitties!
My cat hobbies: I love to chase my brother Ollie through the house. I like to open cabinet doors & make noise. But most of all I like to get up in my Mama's face and tickle her with my long whiskers.
Pet motto: God gives cats dominion over our hearts and they give us unconditional love. *** ***********- ************** FAVORITE PLACES Avatar Gallery 101976 Birthday Central 73341 Mews Room 46883 Contest Page 218553 Kitty Poets 234071 Catty Shack 232638 ***************- ************** BAGGAGE (the Meaning of Rescue) By Evelyn Colbath © 1995 Now that I’m home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed, I’d like to open my baggage, lest I forget, There is so much to carry, So much to regret. Hmmm … Yes, there it is, right on top, Let’s unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my perch hides Fear and Shame, As I look on these things I tried to so hard to leave, I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I love them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn’t good enough – for they didn’t want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things, And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, to never repack? I pray that you do – I’m so tired you see, But I do come with baggage, Will you still want me? Yes, Bouie I love you and will give you a furever home!

CS 5-20-2013 Backyard extreme games week! OK, so maybe using extreme is a little…extreme, but that’s how we roll at CS! Before I go further, a big round of applause for B&O-as they need to leave us for a bit. Poor Bouie is on the ill side, and family does come first. Group air hug, we will miss them! I’m in first TRYING to promote water safety with my 66,but will you listen?? NOOOOO!! Wait, wait…who is THIS! Tucker, here early??? Tuck is behind me with a 60 and his blinged out Hover Cart. Now we know how to roll him out of bed-with a new toy! So jealous. Mudcat Mimi is close behind with her 69. Looks like she has abandoned rowing for hovering with Tucker. J.C. thanks you for that I’m sure. Who’s that??? Covered in fog is Sandy/Ana with a 56. Careful girls, your dripping water on the weenies-pawty foul! Breezing in next is My Fairway Lady Lili trying her best not to trip in some wild get-up, complete with a parasol and a dinner plate on her head. Ohhhhhh…that’s a hat, that LOOKS like a dinner plate. Lili (you’re a good girl, you are) brought her 70 out to play today. UBB is doing some hovering of his own, around the snack wagon. He brings a 57,and a big bib today :) B&O, *sigh* a 73. A short farewell to our southern influence til summer is over. You WILL be back; we know where to find you… Engine is closing in around the obstacle courses with a 64 in her Weenie Wagon full of…what is THAT! Salmon sliders and batwing chips! Why, I haven’t had a batwing chip in like…never! She is feeling cart envy today. No worries Engine, Tuck gots the Hover, you’ve got the batwings! No comparison! Before you all think I’m nuts, Engine DID leave a blog this morning…I saw it-then it went POOF! I don’t make these things up! BG arrives fully padded in anticipation of extreme getting too extreme. She brought a 42?? A 42?? That’s not extreme! Re-do! Don’t anger her today; I heard she is a Wiccan. I mean a wicket!!! A wicket! Why would I EVER accuse her of being a witch-OOPS :) Duck!!!! Mallow arrives with a 45 and a bad spitten aim. Hope she doesn’t spit like she golfs! Little Armani and Miss Chloe arrive all bright eyed with a 59. They enjoyed quiet time at home this weekend. What’s that???? Winners!! First: Kills me to say it, but Wiccan BG with 42 Second: Spitten Mallow with 45 Third: In a fog Ana/Sandy with 56 Losers! Awwwwww…I can’t do it…B&O. We can’t make them do carts! We’ll skip right over them to Lili with 70, and Mimi with 69. Good luck in the cart barn Mimi, Lili wants to dance all night! Everyone else-extreme eating! ~S~Come visit me, ~ K.Steve~rawr.... & ~Sir Ernie loves Molly~.

Hi Bouie & family! Thanks for the concatulations to me and Talley on our engagement! We are two happy kitties! I left a vote with purrs and hugs. CATS AND FOOD You will find that feeding a cat is no easy task What's the big problem you may well ask Just open a tin and feed them from that It is obvious my friend you don't own a cat When outside they will eat a fly or a mouse But things soon change when they dine in the house Your fridge might be full of meat, poultry and fish But what do you put in your fussy Cat’s dish For to keep a Cat fed we beg, steal and borrow Because what we give them today they won't want TOMORROW. - by Mike O'BrienCome visit me, Whiskers ♥ Talley * VOTE FOR WHISKERS HERE! & saved blogs.

Hey guys! Guess what?! It’s Mike the Headless Chicken Day! Yes, you heard me right! Let’s head off to Fruita, Colorado for the Mike the Headless Chicken Festival This is absolutely for real! The story starts on September 10, 1945 when Fruita, Colorado, farmer Lloyd Olsen chose a chicken for his evening meal. Mr. Olsen cut off the bird’s head, but Mike just shook it off and continued trying to peck for food. He lived for 18 months and went on a national tour as “The Headless Wonder Chicken”. I know we can all relate to Mike’s example that you can live a normal life, even after you have lost your mind. Can this event possibly be missed? There’s a 5k Run, Bike Poker Ride, Disc Golf Tournament, and eating contests, along with live music and food. I’m gonna buy a Mike the Headless Chicken T-Shirt and wear it, just to bug my brother! -- MallowCome visit me, COTM Scrapbook - Vote Whiskers #227256 in May!, Angels Jezebel & Pierre, K. A Word With Whiskers – May 17 Peas in a Pod - by Sue Young ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ I’ll never be sure if it was wisdom or folly that struck that day, but I would think a little of both. We had been happily living with one cat for a couple of years, a fairly large black-&-white English Shorthair named Smedley. It was time for his annual exam & shots, so off we went to our local veterinarian’s office, puss in hand, or actually wrapped like up like an Egyptian mummy to save us from his dreaded claws. “Ah!” Doc Pete said, with a twinkle in his eyes. “I’m glad you dropped in. I have a kitten out back that needs a home & I thought of you!” Before I could stop him, his assistant brought out the tiniest marmalade tabby, weighing just over a pound, with a cast on his left front leg. He put him in my arms, looked up at me & said, “So what do you think?” They say a sucker is born every minute & that was my minute. We took one look at the poor little thing & then at each other & we were done for. We found out that someone had broken his leg & tried to drown him in the nearest canal. A Good Samaritan had rescued him & brought him to the vet’s office. “How will they get along?” I asked. “How do we go about introducing them to each other?” “Oh, that’s no problem,” he said. “You just put him in a carrier, take him home, leave the carrier open & let Smedley think he is rescuing the kitten.” Well, it sounded good. As per instruction, once we got home, we left the kitten in the carrier in the middle of the room. Then we sat back to watch. Smedley circled the box & growled deeper than I had ever heard him before. The kitten mewed plaintively while sticking a paw out of the holes in the side of the carrier. After about an hour, we decided to open the top of the carrier a little wider. Smedley walked up to the top, looked inside & was rewarded by a lightning strike from a small orange paw. That was the last we saw of him that evening. I was convinced that the next morning would find us back at the vet’s office returning the little tyke. However, the next morning, we were in for a surprise. As I got up to put on the coffee, I saw the two of them curled up together on the sofa as if they were one cat with two smiling faces. From then on, Smedley watched over the little one as if he had given birth to him, and they went everywhere together. Doc Pete was right! ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Cats are intuitive and can teach us to be gentle & patient. ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~ CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Princess’s maia & lia #163485~ **Vote ~ANGEL CRASH #248838~ for ACOTD tomorrow!** ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thanks for your support to my catpaign! Putting for Pizza! 5/15/13 Steve declares it’s Pizza Party Day! Finally a normal, non-crazy thing to celebrate around the Catty Shack. What could they possibly do to this one? Well first, they can get it wrong, my calendar says National Pizza Day isn’t till Friday, but I’ll go with the flow: Steve starts us out by asking the ageless question “Wonder if Engine has any pizza weenies?” We wonder if Steve has any score. Yes, he does. It’s a 54 (=9). Bart meanders through next with a 59 (=14), wondering if Engine has any scrambled eggs & grits. On pizza?? Copycat Mimi also shoots a 59 (=14) and says she’s expecting record breaking heat. It’s not here yet, but it’s coming! Tucker says he’s all over the pizza weenies. No wonder no one wants ‘em (ewww!) His ice beer sounds more appetizing as he drops off his 51 (=6). LiLi is coming up roses in red & white, with a 63 (=9) in the middle. Engine comes with a different colour scheme: Greenies and tuna (on pizza?) and a 44 (=8) on the side. Sandy wonders if we want a wakeup call. Not with that 28 (=10), we don’t. Going back to sleep till it’s REALLY spring, thank you. Bee Gee seconds that motion with a slightly less freezing 40 (=4). The Dynamic Duo get back on the 59 (=14) bandwagon and decide to have a picnic with lemonade and hot dogs, while UBB declares that he is skipping the pizza weenies. Do they work better than stones? Oh yeah, his score. 50 (=5) Finally comes Mallow, being all Cloak & Dagger and confessing to her first petty larceny of the day. Somewhere along the way she scores a 52 (=7). And let’s see where the pizza weenies fall: 1st – BeeGee: 4 2nd – UBB: 5 3rd – Tucker: 6 And let the parade of losers begin: Bart, Mimi and the Dynamic Duo, all with their pitiful 14’s, head out to the cart barn. You don’t fool us, you just want some time alone with the newly sanitized weenie wagon while the rest of us enjoy our pizzas with … uh … weenies and scrambled eggs and Greenies and grits and tuna. (Yum ??!), with some Chocolate Chipmunk Ice Beer. Now you’re talking! Beer fixes everything. Craft Beer Week continues! 5-14-13 Looks like we may have to go for the ice beer today. Or will it be the mulled ale instead? It could go either way. Stepping up to the tee early this morning is Steve, wishing for summer with his drive of 36. Yup, an ice beer. Only a tick ahead is Ana with a cool 37. More ice brew? Basking by the furnace is Mimi with a comparatively warm 45. Mulled ale, definitely. Now for some REAL ice beer tips is UBB, scraping his way through the ice with a 28! Yipes! Tucker doesn't fare much better with an icy 33. Brrr, you guys! Lagerhouse LiLi warms us all up with a shining 62! And Engine does her best in the Snackster, treating us to CottonCandiTinis and a 51. Can you mull cotton candy? Oh look, it's Darn, slipping back down the temperature ladder to 42 this morning. She gets to mull over that score while our Dynamic Duo sets their sights on a footlong, some crafty brewsky, and a 55. Looking good, guys. And finally, along comes a Dead Frog to demonstrate the Chicken Dance. Or maybe it's a dead chicken demonstrating the frog jump. Who KNOWS any more?? But Mallow shoots a cloudy 48 and gamely keeps stomping that frog. Chicken. Whatever. Here's the final outcome, submitted for your perusal or correction, whichever you prefer: 1st - LiLi, 62. Not up to your usual thermal heights. 2nd - Bouie, 55. We're all in line for ice beer? 3rd - Engine, 51. Can we all come sit in your bin warmer? The worst loser today is UBB, with that 28, but real close behind is Tucker and his pair of 3's. It's looking more and more like Craft Beer Week will be spent in the ice house! Ooohh, maybe we can all go ice fishing, use our little golf clubs for fishing poles. We can use that dead frog for bait. I got it all figured out! Hey, if we're gonna freeze our tails off we may as well do it trying to catch something yummy! A Word With Whiskers – May 14 Ugly the Cat – author unknown ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat. Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating garbage, and shall we say, love. The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside had their effect on Ugly. He had only one eye, he was missing an ear and his left foot appeared to have been badly broken at one time, healing at an irregular angle. His tail was gone, leaving a small stub & he was covered with scabs. Humans reacted when they saw him with, “That’s one UGLY cat!” All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave. Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around feet in forgiveness. If you ever picked him up he would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings, whatever he could find. One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbor’s huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my home I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly's sad life was almost at an end. As I picked him up to carry him home, I could hear him wheezing and gasping. I must be hurting him terribly I thought. Then I felt a familiar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear- Ugly, in so much pain & suffering was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me and he bumped the palm of my hand with his head. Then he turned his one golden eye towards me, and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion. At that moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Ugly just looked up at me, completely trusting in me to relieve his pain. Ugly died, nestled in my arms. I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray, could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful; but for me, I will always try to be Ugly. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ All living creatures deserve our love & compassion. ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your thoughts & prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Gypsy & The Inside Cats #255012~ ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thanks for your support to my catpaign! CS 5-13-2013 Wowza! COLD on the East coast-we’re freezing our buns off here! Oh wait…not for some…. I arrive dark and early with a chilly, wait….who am I kidding-a FREEZING 36.Had to do a double take on that. Would have been better to do a double tap on the ol thermometer. Shaking and quaking with the chills next are Sandy/Ana with …another 36!!! Little Mudcat Mimi is treading lightly thru the muddy tundra to tip claw thru her frozen tulips. What,no boat today?? She is rockin a 54. Bart appears in shock with his 43, all nice and toasty under 20 layers of coats . He is in awe of Mudcats abilities in the frozen tulips. Tulip skating! Even the little Engine that could, couldn’t today with her 45.Having a hard time peddling those frozen wiener pops??? They were hot??? Maybe before we cleared out the cart to toast the essential parts ? UBB chimes in with a chilly 37, munching on a frozen mousedog and tulip popsicles. Oh wait, surprise! Lili is glowing in her crystals and butterfly attire with her 70 in tow. Now wonder you’re always singing-YOUR teeth aren’t chattering! Poor Tuck is doing the artic shake with his 33. He seems to be staring longingly at Lili’s 70. At least I think that’s what he is staring at. He could be blinded by her dazzling outfit. To pull us all out our cold funk is the brewskimeister herself,BG!!! Round of applause please, she did bring craft beer week with her. Your right BG (did I just say that???) It’s all in the name. I plan to call my homebrew Old Ball Washer. BG rounded up a 61 this morning. B&O are whistling along with their 54. Watch the whistle spit boys-your face is going to freeze into that position. Look who decided to bless us with her presence-Mallow! She almost *gasp* forgot about us! Whatcha got there Mallow?? A 54, that’s it??? We waited for you for a stinkin 54??? Winners!!! A Word With Whiskers – May 13 CATS IN THE MEWS – ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ ITALIAN CAT BRINGS GIFTS TO HIS LATE MASTER'S TOMB – ========================================== ROME - The story of a cat who visits his master's tomb and brings him little presents on an almost daily basis a year after the man's death has moved the inhabitants of a village in central Italy. "He brings little twigs, leaves, toothpicks, plastic cups. A bit of everything really," Renzo Iozzelli's widow Ada told AFP from Montagnana, a mountain village near Florence. "Sometimes he comes with me and sometimes he goes on his own. The whole town knows about him now!" Toldo the cat -- a grey-and-white three-year-old tomcat -- followed Iozzelli's funeral procession last year and has continued going to the cemetery ever since, a habit usually ascribed to dogs. "He loved my husband. It was something else! Now it's just me, my daughter and my son-in-law and he's very affectionate with us too," she said. Ada said the journey to and from the cemetery each day had tired Toldo out in the cold winter weather. "He's not going out so much these days. He's caught a bit of bronchitis so he's sleeping next to me." ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ BRAZIL INMATES TRAIN CAT FOR PRISON BREAK – ========================================== BRASILIA - A cat trained by prisoners to deliver cell phones and tools to dig tunnels was caught at a jail in northeastern Brazil after sneaking in with forbidden items strapped to its body. "An agent saw the cat and went to look at it closely because something about it seemed wrong," Marcelo Avelino, the head of the prison guards' union, told the O Globo newspaper. The agent found a bag tied to the animal's body filled with saw blades and drill parts for concrete drilling and digging tunnels, along with a cell phone complete with battery and charger, Avelino added. The cat had often been seen coming in and out of the Alagoas jail. Prison officer Luiz de Oliveira Souza told the G1 news website that prisoners had raised the cat and that relatives would often take it home after a prison visit. "We were very surprised by this new tactic of prisoners, who trained the animal so that it returned to the prison and even managed to carry materials,” the agent added. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ See photos of these unique cats on my page. ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Paul #225583~ **Vote for ~Gypsy & The Inside Cats #255012~ for our COTD tomorrow!** ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thanks for your support to my catpaign! Hi Bouie! We hope you all have a Happy Mother’s Day. Mom gave the outside kitties a special treat of Fancy Feast Grilled Salmon and they loved it. We got some freeze-dried Salmon Fishies & Shrimp Snappies that Mom ordered through the internet. We made out pretty good for not even being mommas. We did surprise Mom with a bouquet of flowers delivered yesterday, but Dad tried to take the credit with us. MOL! Happy Mother’s Day vote with purrs and hugs. ♥ MOTHER' S DAY POEM – On this very special day. We want to thank our Mom's. For loving us when we are sweet or bad, For loving us when we are clean or dirty, For taking care of us when we are well or sick, For being there on the spot when we mew a lot, For this Mother's Day we MEOW to say..... A Word With Whiskers – May 11 CATS’ WHISKERS – ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ If you were to put your cat in a darkened maze, she’d confidently stroll all the way through without knocking into the sides or bumping into the wall. Cover her eyes, and she’d still be able to locate a mouse in the field. Even if you covered her ears and nose as well as her eyes and then tried to sneak up on her, she’d probably be aware of you before you got close. Are cats psychic? Lots of people think so. But scientists have found that cats’ rather astonishing powers of perception are due less to mental wizardry than to the wonders of the whiskers. (No, not me silly!) Cats use their whiskers constantly. The whiskers act almost like sonar, telling cats how close they are to objects around them. Cats also use their whiskers to communicate. Depending on the position, whiskers tell other cats when to stay away and when to approach. When you look at cats head-on, you’ll get a pretty good view of their intricate whisker systems. You’ll see a vast collection of long hairs sprouting from their eyes, at the base of their ears, along their cheeks, and under their chins. Some whiskers are specialized, and each set does a different job. In a very real sense, whiskers are like several extra sets of eyes. They allow cats to see the world in greater detail. In fact, cats who lose their sight may develop whiskers that are longer and thicker than usual. Because the whiskers have a hot line to the brain, they provide unique insights into your pet’s moods and actions. You can tell when she is contented, irritated, or ready to play. Cats will often broadcast what their next behavior will be with movement of their whiskers. Whiskers straight out to the sides: This means nothing is stimulating their curiosity or distracting them. They’re happy and content. Whiskers flattened: When the whiskers shoot straight back from the nose and lie flattened against the cheeks, your cat is afraid of something. Whiskers fanning and swiveling: Cats who are curious use their whiskers almost like antennae. Whiskers spread out and angled forward: When a cat points her whiskers straight out in front of her face, watch out. She is putting her sensors ahead of her to feel what she is going to bite. Because the whiskers are so sensitive, petting or stroking them is the equivalent of shouting in your cat’s ear. It’s a good idea to let children know not to pull on a cat’s whiskers. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ And you thought whiskers were just an elegant accessory! =^.^= ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Smokey & Molly #211603~ **Vote for ~WOLFIE #59175~ for our COTD tomorrow!** ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thank you for your support to my catpaign! End of a Week of Errors 5/10 ~~ I won’t do a recap of those but I will point out that no one except UBB found the BIG one Hot Rod pulled yesterday. All I’ll say is… those in the cart barn did not belong there. You can duke it out with H.R. later if you find him. It’s okay UBB let Hot Rod finish the stale Heinecat beer and chippy chips spilled behind the sofa while he hid in case the Golf Bully heard of the error. No going back to find it until we finish today’s game and summary, please? Heinicat? Did some cat yell Heinecat? Here she comes with her Weiner Cart and a keg of the cool brew to go with the biscuits & gravy. Engine hits a strong 61. That 61 happens to be the same score lover-tom Steve is crooning to himself and a fish under the trees. While ASH claims her cool & wet score of 53 is disappointing. I guess so! The only shorter whack today comes from UBB with 47. It’s sad to hear a grown up, old cat “boo-hoo” all the way to the beer keg. For mewing out loud, UBB, it’s Long Drive Day!! It’s kinda strange but there are more twin scores today. Boule & Ollie who are offering Catty Shackers an all expenses paid trip to Florida to play 18 holes of golf (Ugh… count me out). Boule strikes a hot 63. You can see those coolcats afterward to book your flight and a luxury hotel. A matching 63 belongs to Tucker who had such a good time hiding from thunder he’s going off again today. Bye-bye, Tuck. An unusual golf buddy/fantasy occurred down in the water at the 7th hole when Bee Gee who managed a 52 brought her own submarine and Pig to monitor her score. Not nearly so weird-- for a change, Miss Mellow Mallow also scored 52 and seems to be feeling the effects of her purrsonal ‘nip. Let’s see…as I look through the scorecards I only see one, no two more players. The lovely Lapaloozed LiLi arrives in Whie with lavender and violets. And, what happened? Did I blink or what? She’s using a crutch covered in lavender glitter--a crutch” and a 65 score? Did you hurt yourself, dear Overdresseda LiLi? Tripping on all those glittery outfits? Here’s the last score which is either a mystery or an error… now there are no errors today so… I go for the first choice: Mimi put the score of g4 on her card. Does not compute… so that puts Mimi and Boo-hoo UBB out in the cart barn together. Figure it out yourselves. ~~~ Here’s the Long Drive Summary: 1st place and buyer of the 1st round in the Clubhouse: LiLi Glitterrama 65 2nd place tie goes to Tucker and the Dynamic Duo. 63 3rd place with 61 each Engine & that singing orange dud…oh I mean dude, Steve ~~ Off to the clubhouse and the ticket purchasing window for Florida on B&O! A Word With Whiskers – May 10 Baby Socks – by Bonita Chambers ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ The gray tuxedo kitten decided he would live with us after his feral mother was hit by a car and died. His tiny feet looked like little white socks so we named him Baby Socks. We fed him and talked to him until he finally trusted us enough to pet him and pick him up. We took him to the vet for shots and neutering. Even still, he was not an inside cat. He wanted to patrol his own domain outside. However, when I would sit outside, he would jump into my lap, his white feet kneading my legs. We were also owned by a 10 lb Yorkie named Sugar. Baby Socks got used to her using ‘his’ backyard. They formed a truce where she didn’t chase him and he didn’t hiss at her. Baby Socks grew to weigh 20 lbs., twice the size of the dog. At the same time, Sugar grew older. By age 16, she had cataracts in both eyes. Due to age and numerous health problems, Sugar went blind. Despite her blindness she knew how to navigate the rooms in the house, and we left the furniture in place so she wouldn’t get confused or hurt. We did worry about her going out in the yard. A slope ran down to a creek where snakes or raccoons could harm her. We took her on trips to the bathroom and made sure she was able to follow our voice back to the door. Eventually Sugar lost her hearing. We had to watch her every move when she was outside and pick her up to bring her back inside. It wasn’t long before we noticed Baby Socks was following Sugar whenever she was in the yard. If she got too close to the slope, he got in front of her and nudged her in the right direction, safely to the door. He became her self-appointed “seeing-eye cat”! Sugar died when she was 17. Baby Socks seemed to know she was gone, but he watched whenever we opened the back door, just in case. He still patrols the yard. I tell him what a good cat he is and maybe we might get another dog someday. He doesn’t seem impressed. If that day comes, I’m sure Baby Socks will once more work out a truce, and a friendship, with whatever new canine enters his domain. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Cats have amazing empathy! ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD S #246680~ ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thanks for your support to my catpaign! This could be trouble.... 5-9-13 Nobody told me what day it is.... So I'll pick - plain low-score golf! Am I right? Oh please say yes. :) Mr. Heinz 57 Personalities is up early today with his Molotov cocktail, oh wait, that's Moscato. You say Mos-kay-to, I say Mos-kah-to... Coming up right behind him - but not close enough for a hug - is Ana with her downward trending 58. GlitterGardenia LiLi's in great voice this morning, and we all thank her for the earplug warning. Just in time! She scores a 60 and keeps singing and swinging.... Mimi arrives wet behind the ears. What? Oh really? Rear?? Okay. Wet reared Mimi claws her way to a 55. Engine arrives with her Snackster filled to the brim, AND she has a score today - 57! She's handing out Sunrisetinis. Is that like a tequila sunrise? Only with gin? Ooohh! A gintini! Tucker is ready to duck and cover from the thunder. He whacks a 60 and dives behind the sofa. Bee Gee hits a 56 at the Hotel California and tries to check out, but she can never leave! Scary.... Our intrepid pair, the DD, are on a hit and run mission, and let go with a 63. Mission accomplished. Hope there's lots of room under that sofa, cuz UBB ain't no fan of thunder either. He drops off a 52 then crawls behind the sofa with Tucker, bearing Heinecats and Chippy chips. Hey guys? I hate thunder, too..... Mallow wonders who says we don't got any class around here. Um, I think we pretty much all say that, um.... But she delivers a nice round 50 for the day. And last but not least Mr. Armani, with the jet ski safely back in port, and Chloe letting him live another day despite getting her fur wet, has logged in with a 55. Okay, are we all good with the type of score we have today? Regular golf, right? At least that's one mistake I haven't made - yet. Regular golf scores coming up: 1st - Mallow, 50. First class today! 2nd - UBB, 52. Thunder fan. 3rd - Tie, Mimi & Armani, 55. Up on that jet ski, Mimi, keep your rear dry! And the lucky barn dwellers today are LiLi and Tucker. Don't worry, Tuck, LiLi will sing loud enough to drown out that thunder! ~~Hot Rod~ Semi-Professional ~~Commentator~~Come visit me, LITTLE MISS, SMOKEY & MOLLY 211603~~, HOT ROD, OUTLAW 211919~~, ZIGGY*DUCHESS OF DANCE 211920~~ & AUTUMN & R.I.P. Grab Bag Golf 5/8/13 Okay, this week someone *ahemToby* has decided to switch Putting Day with Long Drive Day, and I can go along with that. So, without further ado, the doors of the loony wagon open and release the residents of Disturbia into the world: First comes the very disturbed Steve, shooting a 59. Is it 59 season, Steve? You got a permit to shoot those? Next, Lavish LiLi dances along in her sparkling glass slippers for a 60. One of these days, LiLi, Bang! Zoom! To the moon! (oh, that’s not what you meant?) Next we have the Schizo one, whose Sandy personality braves the rain today to bring us a 51. Also not singing in the rain is Mimi, who rows her boat up to the tee for a 53 while the borderline confused Tucker manages a 60. Not bad, whichever day this is! The winner of the Scoreless Wonder award today is Engine, who filled up her cart with yummies but forgot to bring her score! Is there something about Wednesdays?? That’s okay, Engine, as long as you have the Firefly Flutters. Next comes Bart in the straightjacket that he insists is a zebra print shirt worn backwards. He brings us a 54 today. UBB claims that Steve suffers from anxiety borderline nuts disorder, but WHO had to crawl out from under the bed today because of a little thunder? Mark down a 59 for him. The Dynamic Duo are stressing out big time. What day is it? What planet is it? They head off to relax with their 57 and a Sugarglider Soda. Oh yeah, and the vodka. BeeGee is edgy today too, with her 56. Bringing up the rear, Armani and Mallow, both with 54. Armani, we applaud your dedication in bringing your jetski out in the pouring rain, and we would never forego your score. Get it? FORE-go? Golf? Oh, never mind. Mallow is so near the edge she’s almost pushing me over besides. Well done, golfers! Now the result of this grab bag day? Well, if it’s Long Drive Day it goes like this: 1st place – Lyrical LiLi and Tucker, tied with 60 2nd – UBB and Steve, thundering through with a very disturbed 59 each 3rd – Our very own Dynamically Stressed Out Duo with their 57 Now, I expect no complaints from LiLi and Tucker, because even if it were Putting Day they would still have won with a 6. But Sandy! She’s gonna complain plenty! She also would have also had a putt of 6 but instead is our low score and cart-charger with 51, while Steve would have been our losing putter had we not been in Bizarro World today. Confused yet? Me too! Okay, bring back the men in the white coats while we crank up some Metallica to round out the day: “♫ Welcome to where time stands still No one leaves and no one will … … Sanitarium …♫ ” Your comparatively normal Guest Common (couch) ‘Tater, MikeCome visit me, COTM Scrapbook - Vote Whiskers #227256 in May!, Angels Jezebel & Pierre, K. A Word With Whiskers – May 08 How Cats Love – Part 1 (from cats.about.com) ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ There's no doubt that cats love us as much as we love them. People who haven't been blessed with furry feline love have a difficult time believing this though, because kitties show affection very differently than people do. In fact, some cat behaviors that puzzle, aggravate or even offend people are a cat's way of expressing undying affection. 1. Cats Love with Purrs. Her purrs can mean a variety of things, from delight to expressions of concern. And kitty purrs range from soft and subtle to Mack-truck loud. When your cat purrs in your presence, you can be sure she’s expressing her love for you. 2. Cats Love with Bunting. When a cat cheek-rubs you, head-bumps your face, or pushes against you, he leaves his scented signature. These behaviors, termed bunting, are expressions of affection cats display to other cats, dogs-and their most favorite people. 3. Cats Love with Spraying. Say it ain’t so! But it’s true—if your cat has decided to baptize your bed or other belongings with urine, you should consider it a back-handed compliment. Cats use their own scent to calm themselves down. Kitties feeling upset over separation anxiety or other issues often target areas that smell the most like their beloved owners…such as the bed. 4. Cats Love with Rolling. When kitty throws himself on the ground at your feet, and rolls around, consider this a loving greeting and a solicitation for attention. Presenting the tummy in this fashion places the cat in a vulnerable posture. So cats generally reserve the rolling around for people they truly love. 5. Cats Love with Scratching. Just as with the spraying, cat scratching leaves both scented and visual marks of ownership. Pay attention to where your cat scratches the most. The areas most important to kitty often are related to those places associated with the owner, like a favorite chair where you sit. 6. Cats Love with Gifting. Mighty hunter cats that catch everything from toys to bugs, mice or frogs, often share the bounty with those they love. Kitties who present you with this bounty deserve praise. They wouldn’t bring these special gifts if they didn’t love you. 7. Cats Love with Grooming. Cats spend an enormous amount of time self-grooming. They also groom each other, but shared grooming behaviors only happen between friendly cats. Kitties that groom their human by licking your skin or hair, or even nibbling or sucking on your clothing, indicates great affection. This spreads familiar scent and helps mark you as an important part of her family group. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Joseph #221080~ ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thanks for your support to my catpaign! Hey Bouie & Ollie yesterday afternoon sitting on the windowsill, taking in all the outside world smells, the gentle breeze blowing my fur and i was completely content, and then i saw it! right below the window, a big fat gray cat looking up at me. i arched my back, made my fur stand up on end, giving the best Halloween kitty impression i could muster. i growled a deep gutteral growl, hissed and spit, and whacked the widow screen and waited........the fat gray cat looked up at me and..........yawned.........i felt like a big balloon that just lost all it's "hot" air :( headbonks and purrs, Lollapalooza LiLiCome visit me, Add-A-Line, Blondie, Puzzle & Lollapalooza LiLi.

Borderline Day! 5-7-13 How close can we really be to the "borderline"? Especially with Steve and Bee Gee making the maps?? First near the edge is Steve with his memory in training, repeating 59 so often it takes on that creepy, loss of meaning thing. Oh, and a putt of 14. Ana's Haley comes in a little warmer and farther from the edge with a 47, and an 11. Mimi looks like she's borderline, using her oars to send signals, and swat a slip-sliding away 60, for 6. Looks like Tucker has already been too close to the edge, with his slightly singed rear-end, and a 54, which gives him a 9. I really love the smell of burnt fur.... Engine arrives in her shiny clean Munchie Machine, but I'm afraid the mud is gonna take that shine right off again. She putts her pair of 5's for 10, and spit-shines a fender. UBB is about borderline over Hug Week. Maybe Mallow can fit you for a custom barbed wire jacket? Just be careful when you're brushing off lint... A 48 you say? Well, a 12 I say! :) Oooohh, I see Bouie is ready to edge into the clubhouse for a big breakfast, as long as it doesn't involve rodent barf. Not even on a beautiful morning? Guess not. Another pair of 5's for a 10. Poor Bee Gee. She's beside herself with nothing to complain about, a very definite sign of borderline. And a 49, for 13 and I think the worst score so far. So cheer up, Beeg! You can complain about that putt. Arriving late after trying to decide who was being edged into the carriers this morning is LooneyToon LiLi dancing cheek to cheek with a nice 60, for a 6. And finally, Miss Borderline herself, all decked out in her exclusive line of barbed wire underwear, Mallow! Scoring a bright and shiny 50, for a 5 on the putt. She'll be signing autographs later. Edge into line - if you dare... Should we have a borderline bbq at the clubhouse, featuring leg o' lammie? We can have borderline bbq lammie sammies! And edgy punch. And fruitcake salad. And nutty buddies for dessert. Maybe we should have putted with goofballs. Okay, I'm done now. 1st - Mallow, 5. Anybody in line yet? 2nd - Tie, Mimi & LiLi, 6. Oars in the WATER!! 3rd - Tucker, 9. Anybody love the smell of burnt butt in the morning? Edging out Bee Gee for worst score today is Steve, giving it his all for borderline day! Way to go, Mr. 59! Maybe we could have a shirt made up for you ... it could say "59 or 14, it's all the same. Nah. It's reward enough that we're sending BG to the barn with you to help out. You two can work out the details. :) ~~~Toby~~~ I'm only here for the food~Come visit me, BONNIE & GRABBY 210597~~, TOBY 210431 ~~, PIG & SISSY 210414~~, DARN BEE GEE 210564~~, RIP ANGELS 210737~~, MR.SNIFF 210653~~ & CATTY SHACK 232638 ~.

CS 5-6-13 Looks like it’s a wet and muddy one for most of you! Pretty soon it’s going to be mud wrestling instead of golf. Count me in! I’m first to arrive, doing my best Stevie Wonder, professing my love for my 56, and my aversion to hug WEEK. Who does that stuff! Next is Sandy/Ana with their 38, doing a rain dance and hoping for showers. Mudcat Mimi (I like that!) is frantically rowing in her boat with a 58. Two oars Mimi-takes 2 oars to get where you’re going. Highly contagious UBB is snotting and sneezing all over us,leaving a tissue trail and a lowly 39. YOU are not included in hug WEEK. Engine is tooting along in her Snackster-yes I said toot, and slip-sliding away in mud with a 53. Should use Mudcat’s boat-a weinie boat! BUT, Engine does deliver with tuna turnovers and chipmunk chips. Way to go Engine! Just like the postal service…thru sleet, snow, mud…she delivers to the golfers. Tuck-rolling in with a 46. No wonder you’re looking for the Weinie Wagon. Need to warm them buns! Wow, Bart strolls in with his salmon colored golf shirt, chinos, and spit shined shoes. Aren't we all fancy, fancy there Bart. I thought shiny shoes were for looking up girls dresses or something like that. I read that-never tried it myself, swear. Speaking of clothes horses, there is little Adorkable Lili putting on the glitz in her red sequined Betty Boop dress. But wait! It comes complete with hat and feathers. Mmmmmm….feathers….Oh! Her score-60. Poor B&O,sharing their muddy misery with Mudcat Mimi. They both come slopping in with a chilly(for them)50. Mud wrestling is looking better and better! And what does the West coast bring us? BG and Mallow-the little Miss Sunshine twins! BG is sporting a 47,and Mallow a 59. Wow,Mallow even found a barbed wire coat-impressive! Go on BG,give her a big hug for hug week. Would have been safer with raisin week, they just make you scoot and toot. Winners: First: Sandy/Ana 38 Second: Typhoid UBB Third: Stylin Bart 44 Losers! A Word With Whiskers – May 06 FOOD STAMPS FOR CATS: New Program Helps Low-Income Families Keep Their Companions ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ The Pet Food Stamps program, a registered NYS non-profit corporation, has been created to fill the void in the United States Food Stamp program which excludes the purchase of pet food & pet supplies. In these rough economic times, many pet owners are forced to abandon their beloved pet to animal shelters due to the inability to pay for their basic food supply & care. There are over 50 million Americans who currently receive Food Stamps, many with dogs or cats, who simply cannot afford to feed their animals, and these cherished companions are dropped off at animal shelters where they will most likely be put to sleep. Many people are also forced to choose between feeding their pets or themselves. A recent New York Times article states that “animal shelters have reported a steep rise in the number of cats & dogs being surrendered as owners face unemployment, home foreclosures, evictions & other financial hardships.” As more families struggle with difficult choices like paying the rent or buying food, some have to choose between keeping their pet & putting food on the table. Seven million pets are surrendered to shelters each year due to the inability of pet parents to pay for food, with four million of those pets put to sleep. The Pet Food Stamps program aims to eliminate the needless death of these loving pets & keep families together. The Pet Food Stamps program, due to the generosity of contributors & patrons, are able to eliminate that heart-wrenching decision by making sure these pet owners are given free monthly home delivery of all necessary food supplies to maintain the health & vitality of their pets. The program is available to U.S. residents who are currently receiving food stamps, or whose income is around or below the poverty level. Applicants complete a brief online form. Due to the popularity of the program, which speaks to its great need, approval of applications currently takes several weeks. Pet Food Stamps is getting up to 3000 requests per day, and more than 45,000 people have already signed up. Once need is determined & the application approved, the families get pet food each month for a 6-month period from pet food retailer PetFlow. It is supported by private donations. With the continued growth of the Pet Food Stamps program, the founders hope to expand the program later this year to include offering free or heavily discounted veterinary care for qualified program beneficiaries. For more information about the program, to apply, or to make a donation to support it, please visit PetFoodStamps.org. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Sienna #13682~ Thanks for your support! May 6, 2013--- Guess its about time! Good Monday Morning! Have a super day! We want to apologize that it has been forever since we did a good round of blogging on CC. We are well and have told a few friends that mom is planning a big trip to visit family in Norway this summer. Also, a cousin from Norway will be returning here for a visit after. Mom has to do some painting and work on the house too or arrange for it to be done. Kitty care and a house-sitter is arranged. Doggy care is in the works. Mom got her e-ticket and her Passport came Saturday. We also feel guilty that K.Barney did promise continued stories time to time and so far we have not! Well, we do have one for today, but will have to keep it short. Not a story mom is too proud of, because she should have listened to Angel Pasha, who you met during our Catpaign. One summer night he bit her arm to wake her out of a sound sleep and then ran to the window. To mom's credit she looked out, but did not see anything, so chased Pasha from their room. He tried to protest and kept running to the window, but mom still did not see anything and did not investigate further. Well, she did lean her lesson----- in the morning she talked to her neighbor and found out he had been gone that night and his house was robbed! Mom felt so guilty that she had not done more, but she was so tired and did not see or hear anything from where she was. She sure learned that cats may have more of a sense when something is wrong than most humans realize. Of course, there are still times when we kitties just can't sleep and we want some company.Come visit me, Our Precious Angels #75646, Heffner #130639-----VFP Goalie, Barney's Daily Inspiration, Handy Andy #149735 VOTE WHISKERS 227256 K. A Word With Whiskers – May 05 Happy Cinco de MEOW! ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ This blog will coincide with one of my favorite cultural events, Cinco de MEOW. It’s a day devoted to celebrating feline culture, rather like every other day of the year, but with the addition of fish tacos. To be clear, it’s not just a day about cats. It’s a day about cats and couches. Most people do not understand the important history of this day. Cinco de MEOW commemorates the anniversary of the first day a cat and a couch were brought together, in ancient Egypt. Cats have never forgotten this, and instinct calls kitties around the world to observe this judicious pairing of cats and furniture with a holiday nap. Cinco de MEOW is a time for carousing on the couch. I will be napping in my usual place all morning, and then living it up with an exciting afternoon on the other end of the sofa. I expect the stroll from one end to the other to be a special highlight of the day. You will want to be sure your couch is ready for the fiesta! As a human, it’s important that you support your cat to have the best possible Cinco de MEOW. Fluff the pillows Wait on your kitty Prepare special foods People like to add a Mexican flair to Cinco de MEOW, which is fine with cats, as long as you make sure to add tuna to everything. Happy Cinco de MEOW. Party on, cats! ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Okay, on a more serious note… This Cinco de Mayo, Humane Societies across the nation will be throwing fiestas. Kitten season is the perfect time for this new event, Cinco de MEOW. Cinco de MEOW promotions at Humane Societies are basically a good way to promote adoptable cats and let people know that they have a lot of them who need homes this spring. Although kittens can be cute and cuddly, it’s important to not forget that adult cats need a family too. They’re a lot easier, because you don’t have to go through all the kitten phases and you can bond just as well with them. Some cat lovers say that when it comes to getting a pet, cats do not get the consideration they deserve. Operations Coordinator Denise Plemmons says, “I don’t think a lot of people realize what a good friend they [cats] can be and good support through hard times. They are a part of your family, becoming companions you can lean on if you need to.” Because dogs gave higher adoption rates, the theme for Cinco de MEOW is helping cats overcome odds. This Cinco de MEOW, Humane Societies are striving to adopt as many cats as possible. It takes only one person to make a difference. Every adoption is marked as a success! ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your thoughts & prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Snuggles #124534~ ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ Thank you for your furiendship & support to my catpaign! A Word With Whiskers – May 04 A Fitting Finale - by Nancy Kucik ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Laser was a therapy cat for more than twelve years, and in that time I was fortunate enough to see him do many amazing things & spread a tremendous amount of happiness. One November evening, though, his gift of empathy surpassed every expectation I ever had. We were visiting the local children’s hospital shortly before Thanksgiving. As we were hurrying to the elevator to visit the children on the oncology unit, a woman tapped me on the shoulder & asked if Laser could visit with her daughter in the lobby before we went upstairs. Of course I said yes. She led me to a teenager in a wheelchair. Both the girl & her mother told me how much they loved cats, & how sad they were because theirs had died only a few weeks before. Laser was a world-class snuggler. From the tiniest child, whose lap was so small that he had to do some serious contortions in order to fit, to the largest adult, Laser had a reputation at the hospital for always finding a way to curl up & cuddle. That’s why I thought it was so strange when Laser did not curl up onto the teenager’s lap. Instead, as soon as I placed him on the girl’s lap, he climbed up & positioned himself with his chin resting on her shoulder & the length of his body pressed against her chest. A big smile lit up the girl’s features as she blissfully closed her eyes & rubbed her face against the soft fur of Laser’s head & back. It wasn’t until I had been watching this happy interaction for several minutes that it suddenly dawned on me that the girl was not using her hands to pet Laser, and in fact her arms were paralyzed. Did Laser somehow know this girl was unable to use her hands to pet him? Is that why he so uncharacteristically cuddled on her shoulder rather than her lap? I don’t know, but I don’t have any other explanation. That encounter was especially poignant because it turned out to be Laser’s last therapy visit. At age 14, he died very suddenly & quite unexpectedly just a couple of weeks later. While I was devastated by his loss, the thought of all the joy he brought over the years & the difference he made in so many lives makes me smile. There could be no more fitting final chapter in the life of this amazing therapy cat than that experience at the children’s hospital. I know Laser’s spirit will live on not only in that girl’s heart, but in the hearts & memories of everyone else whose life he touched. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ ^~^ Vote daily COTM QUEEN SPUNKY #161265 ^~^ Please keep her Mom & family in your thoughts & prayers as they mourn the loss of beloved GM. ~A BIG CONCATULATIONS to our COTD Patches #36009~ ^~^ Please visit CMR #46883 for daily mews ^~^ I hope you enjoyed today’s cat story. 3 May Long Drive Day -- Hurray! Hug Yourself today? Well, of course you did. It is “Hug Your Cat Day” and how many cats actually “own” their own cat? So, just hug yourself or as Steve, that organizational genius, suggested: Group Hug Day—with sanitizer towels to follow. And speaking of Mister Group Hug himself, he’s so worried that he might forget to turn in his score (56) that he puts it on the table first before sharing his Group Hug ideas. Thanks Steve. No problem, really because we all get confused. Take a look at Bee Gee today. For some reason she wanted to turn her respectable 56 into an 11 because she thought it was Putting day. Darn! Don’t I know just how that can happen? It’s okay BG give yourself a hug and a double plate of Stuffed French Toast from N-gin’s Weiner Wagon. Our full service Snack Cart is turning into a gourmet rolling eatery. Although there’s a little photo at the bottom of this page, take a look at her in her chef’s hat riding her clean, green Weiner Cart on her page #147060. She even had tome between stuffing those French toasts to whack a hefty 60. Rare and well done! Mimi’s waltzing around today with Lucky, the Old Sun as her partner and a 55 score. A little lower on the score today but happy to get a wee bit of a sleep in, Armani smiles as he lays his 51 score on the table. And then even a little lower in the scoring this morning is our Ana. Get on over for a big plate of French toast and pour lots of mouse syrup all over it in case need your strength in cart barn later on. Whoa! Check out that lavender out fit on Lavindlula Palooza LiLi at the top of the driving range… She’s such a beautiful distraction. And who says beauty is not an athlete. She whacks a mice 68 before skipping over to the Wiener Wagon. Right behind LiLi, as usual, are Boule & Ollie. They tramped through mud and heavy rain to get here today. Hey, don’t splash anything on that big floor length lavender gown, dudes. Before they run to the W.W. they post a solid 63. Well who else is going to score in the 60 range today? It’s UBB enjoying Lucky Ole Sun too. And falling a little lower after having to deal with 2 dumb pawrents all night, Tucker scores 53. Today’s entertainment is Miss Mallow moonwalking across the green to strike the shortest long drive of the day: a 48. Sorry Mallow now you can moonwalk out to the cart barn for charging and also the real perk, yes you get to clean the weiner cart!! Now, the moment we’ve waited for: 1st Place goes to our own Fashion Queen- LiLi PaLavenderLooza-- 68 2nd Place the Dynamic Duo sticking close to LiLi – 63 3rd Place that old golf duff, UBB—60 ~~~Whew! Glad to have been your commenter today, cats. It arrived later than usual because the CC lost my first edition just as I was ready to post. Ugh. But more bothersome than that, I have a terrible time staying on the CC. today I had to login 4 times! A Word With Whiskers – May 03 For The Love Of Cats – A Human Introspection ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^ Of all the animals who have shared our lives for generations, we know the least about the cat. That doesn’t mean we love them any less; in fact, the air of mystery each cat carries is one of the reasons we love them so much. Cats have never changed to suit our desires. They play by their own rules and we love and admire them for their independence of spirit. Cats started hanging around us because we were useful to them. Our switch from hunter-gatherers to farmers meant that we attracted lots of fat, little rodents to our grain stores. The cat has been welcome in our barns ever since, and by our hearths as well. Few cats have to earn their living today and many have lives that keep them completely indoors, hunting for little beyond a warm place to sleep. More than 20 years have passed since the cat claimed the title of #1 pet over the dog, and the gap just keeps widening. The closer we get to our cats, the more we find to love them. They offer warm companionship, endless entertainment and soothing comfort. Science concurs; pets in general- cats in particular, are good for us in countless ways. They keep us busy, keep us from being lonely and even help keep us healthier. We can’t imagine living without animals in our lives. We love cats, from the purr of a new kitten’s greeting to the last sad good-bye of an aged friend. We love the snuggles on the couch while watching TV, the silly games with a string toy or laser pointer, the sharing of a joke or a secret or even a bit of our dinner. Our cats are always with us, in spirit even when they cannot be with us in person. Every cat lover knows cats don’t care who you are or what you look like. They love us regardless. Cats teach us, heal us, make us laugh, and break our hearts with their passing. Cat people understand the benefits of feline companionship because we live with cats, love them, and care for and about them. The strength of the human-animal bond and the growing importance of pets in our lives is phenomenal. We humans celebrate the CAT.
