About Me

Active within 948 Days

Hi! My name is Solomon

I am Domestic Shorthair from Midland, MI

Nicknames: Solly-Olly, Ollie Oop

Age: 6 years old

Gender: M

Coat: short haired

Education: Solomon was one of the featured rescue animals at a Ties & Tails Gala put on by the Humane Society of Midland County.

My favorite tricks and treats are: Solomon has a toy box full of little stuffed mice. Almost every night he gets his mice and hides them in different places to keep for later. Sometimes he'll walk around the house with a mouse in his mouth crying because he can't find a good spot. He spent the first few months before the dog pound on the streets eating mice and garbage and I think this behavior is a natural act for him.

Where I hang out: Right next to Momma.

My favorite grubs: Everyone's leftovers

My pet peeves: Waiting for Cherokee to get done eating so he can clean her plate of any leftovers.

What I love about my owners: She saw my potential.

My cat hobbies: Eat, snuggle and wrestle with galpal, Babette.

Pet motto: Life is good now.

How We Met

I met Solomon in Nov 2010 at an adopt-a-thon I was helping at through the Humane Society with dogs and cats from the local dog pound. After three weeks of taking Solomon to these events...he was put on "the 48hr list" slated for the gas chamber..I knew I had to step in. I was really asking for him to be taken to the event each week so we could treat him as he was very ill and at five months he weighed in at a heavy 3.8 pounds. So I adopted him!! In the 11 months he's been part of the family he's gained a lot of weight..and is up to around 13 pounds as his photo's show!

Wounded warriors make their way back through extraordinary courage and determination. More than 1,200 members of the US military have lost arms and legs in Middle East fighting in the decade since 9/11.

Military research, creative engineering and technological advances in prosthetics help those who have lost limbs, all or part of an arm or leg through various reasons including:
•Traumatic injuries from military combat including traffic accidents
•Circulation problems from atherosclerosis or diabetes, resulting in amputation
•Birth defects

An artificial limb lets the amputee function nearly as well as before. The device, a prosthesis, helps perform daily activities such as walking, eating, or dressing.

The Future
Engineers are developing prosthetics for animals who suffer from disease and damaged body parts
