Today, Monday, January 16th, is a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. The MLK Day is a day of Service, and is meant to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, and create solutions to social problems, and help to move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. Dr. King’s birthday is January 15th. His first name, Martin, was on the Name Day list yesterday.

I’ve been mewsing over the pawsome life stories that you and your pawrents have been sharing. Today I am going to give you a whole pawhug full of reasons why cats are so lovable and beneficial to the health of the human race!
For instance, did you know that there are medical studies that point to the benefits of owning a cat! Of course, we know that nobody really owns us, but we must humor them!
Some of these studies claim that having a cat at home is good for your “owner’s” heart! When they pet us, we create “feel-good” endorphins that help lower their stress, keep their blood pressure at a good level, and actually slow down a racing heart rate! Some studies show that just being in the same room with a kitty kat has been shown to lower blood pressure! We also have a remarkable ability to give comfort in time of sickness and loss.
