Mischief - Praying for the sick and the lost!

About Me

Active within 1 Day

Hi! My name is Mischief - Praying for the sick and the lost!

I am Domestic Longhair from Crossville, TN

Nicknames: Mishy, Pretty Girl, Piggy

Age: 4 years old

Gender: F

Coat: long haired

Education: Mischief has begun visiting the local nursing home as a therapy cat. She is not certified, yet, but it's not required there. Everyone loves her!

Got her first COTD/CROTD badges on 8/7/12

She became Duchess of Dashingness by winning the ladies competition of the Magnificent Tail Contest on 8/11/12.

My favorite tricks and treats are: She can jump really high when going after Da Bird, or a fly! and She will eat Temptations once in awhile, but she's not excited about treats. Once in awhile, she'll eat Friskies Party Mix out of my hand.

Where I hang out: She loves to sit on either of the towers, or on the window perch. She also like to sit in my bedroom window and watch the birds in the trees.

My favorite grubs: She loves any and all wet food, to the point that she tries to steal everyone elses.

My pet peeves: Not being able to go outside without a harness and leash.
Not being allowed to eat my fursibs food, cuz I want it all!

What I love about my owners: She and Dad made me a part of the family and I have a bigger place to roam around in. I also have many windows to look out of and see all the birds and other critters. They found a good place for my littermates to go.

My cat hobbies: Eat! Run through the house and play with Da Bird and other string or wand toys and sometimes my fursibs. Mom now takes me out in the front yard in the morning, so I can smell the grass, maybe eat a blade or two and chase bugs! Eat!

Pet motto: She doesn't have one, yet.

How We Met

A family was evicted from the mobile home park next door and they had to leave 5 cats behind. My husband and I took care of them for 3 days until animal control could come and collect them. We fell in love with Mischief and brought her home. The others went to an organization called A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin') where they will be cared for until homes are found for them. They are a no-kill organization. We learned just this week (July, 2012) that all of her siblings have been adopted!

Hi Mischief & family!
We sure will be praying when your dear Mom takes Frosty, Shorty and BC to the vet. It would be so nice to discover Frosty is already fixed. When my Mom found out Ebony and Sugar Bear were already fixed and microchipped, she made the sign of the cross and promised God to take of them. Mom was so worried Sugar Bear was bringing kittens with her. Not that we wouldn't take care of kittens, but it would have been a lot harder! Whew!

We hope you got to enjoy the beautiful wedding ceremony and reception for Fluffinella and Joey Brown today. It was so incredibly beautiful, there wasn’t a dry in the house. The wedding ceremony was on the catmewsroom, in the lovely wedding chapel and the reception is ongoing on CC at our Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Center (271826), in the “Touch of Sunshine” reception room. You better bring your dancing shoes!

We want to thank all our CC furiends for coming out to paw a vote yesterday for our dear furiend Neekah Boo (251057). Neekah Boo and her family are mourning the loss of her fursister Angel Fatty, but we know being named as COTD, let her know how much she is loved. CC furiends are the best, paws down.

We are all doing fine. Our new fursib Sugar Bear is almost done with her antibiotics and her nose looks good. The scab is starting to peel off her nose. Whatever caused it seems to be healing. Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers!

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Things A Cat Thinks About While Catnapping =^.^=

• I could have sworn I heard a can opener.

• Is there something I'm not getting when humans make noise with their mouths?

• Why doesn't the government do something about dogs?

• Hmmmm.... If dogs serve humans, and humans serve cats, why can't we ever get those STUPID dogs to do anything for us?

• Hey - no kidding, I'm sure that's the can opener.

• Would humans have built a vast and complex civilisation of their own if we cats hadn't given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the first place.

• If there's a God, how can He allow neutering?

• If that really was the can opener, I'll play finicky just to let THEM know who's boss !!

Hi Mischief & family!
Just a furiendly reminder to please paw a COTD shout-out vote for our dear furiend Neekah Boo today (251057). Neekah Boo is real sweetheart. Her fursister Fatty sadly became an angel this morning. Neekah Boo could sure use some cheering up from us CC kitties. We’d love to see her pretty face as our COTD tomorrow!

Our new outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear are doing well. Mom has been able to fool Sugar Bear by mixing her medicine into her food. So far, so good. Sugar Bear is still a bit frightened of my Mom after the two trips to the vet and then having to take the awful tasting medicine, but Mom talks to both kitties every day, trying to win back Sugar Bear’s trust.

Callie and I went our cat stroller walk this morning with Mom, but we haven’t seen any deer for a while. Mom fills up the water bucket every morning on the trail. It’s always empty so some thirsty animal is drinking it.

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We always have you and your precious family in our prayers dear furiend. Give your Mom and Dad big hugs for us.

Inspection of the House =^.^=

A house usually has unlimited possibilities for suitable sleeping spots. Every possibility no matter how theoretical should be investigated and tested. Cardboard boxes, cupboards, drawers, couches and beds are obvious localities, but places such as old slippers (size 11 or higher) open gym bags or kitchen cupboards should not be overlooked. The house should further be investigated for all possible toys. An old sock can represent several hours of entertainment if you get your claw on a loose end and unravel a couple of miles worth of yarn. You human will love to tidy up after your play.

With frequent and diligent application of these tips, your human will be trained in no time at all and most importantly; your human will be very well cared for! MOL!

water sports day wednesday!
well master's car wasn't ready as janet thought it wouldn't be on friday, so it was a nice quiet weekend and she's hoping like nat that it'll be ready before this com-ing weekend seeing it's the big stewed nut move in as it's called here with 3 colleges, although many are already back due to sports some of which have already started. had a very froggy morning and this morning is just another repeat of what we had yesterday till we get a change in the air masses which should be to the southwest for a few days before we get boomers now on wed if that. janet sat out and read 4-5 books, did some garden work, pruned a forsythia bush/pulled some golden rod--more of where that came from for sure in the yard--and walked without any interruptions except to get supper. tonight there's some stuff for leftovers, but not quite enough so it's either that or tv dinners tonight. sandy,ab,haley,angels

Hi Mischief & family!
A 6.1 earthquake rattled the north bay town of Napa this morning at 3:20. We didn’t feel it where we live in San Jose and thankfully not too many people have been reported injured (so far). There was a lot of structural damage though. The news is monitoring the event non-stop right now. We are praying for all the people and animals that are affected by this very scary event.

It’s another warm day today. We hope to see you kitties at King Spanky Jack’s Castle Water Sport’s Day at our Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Center. What better way to stay cool?!

My Mom gave our new outside fursib, Sugar Bear her 6th dose of medicine this morning. Sugar Bear’s nose is looking much, much better! All your well wishes and prayers have really helped!

My Mom and Aunt Donna spent yesterday at a health spa, getting massages, facials and overall pampering. It kept Aunt Donna from being sad. Until my Mom took her to the airport for her trip back home. Then the tears started to flow.:(

Door Training =^.^=

One of the first things you need to teach your human is to open the front door, the garden door and backdoor when required. This is done by walking up to a door and making an impatient and very loud meow. Make some tripping steps with your back paws obviously indicating that you need to go to the outdoor litter box.

When your human has gotten up from the couch and opened the door you decide that you do not really need to go outside right now. Just for appearances, you can stand in the open door and pretend that you are thinking about the situation for a few seconds before you turn around to go inside again. Repeat this procedure several times a day. This will keep your human in good door opening form.

Hey Mischief
I am looking forward to this afternoon and getting dunked again. I know that sounds strange, but it ready is lots of fun. Plus I think I have a couple of relief dunkees!

I did post on the CMR page that my royal secretary has some errands to run today (sigh) and I may not be able to live blog the entire time. I will try to kick off the event around noon, then maybe pop in a little later. I WILL be there physically the entire time, however, silently watching my furiends have a good time and probably getting all wet!

See you later. Purr and hugs, Spanky

Hi Mischief & family!
You had us all laughing so hard! Isn't it amazing what our pawrents go through for us? Your Mom and Dad are too precious! God bless them. We hope Dayzee decided to come inside soon after all the commotion.

My Mom is going to be offline on Saturday so my meow will be silent tomorrow, but I’ll be back on Sunday! My Aunt Donna from San Diego is coming for the day. Hopefully she’ll get to meet Whitey and Orangie and maybe even Ebony and Sugar Bear!

My Aunt Donna had to help her doggie over the Rainbow Bridge last week. His name was Blaze and he was beloved member of their family. He was 16 years old. My Mom is trying to cheer Aunt Donna up, if only for a day. Now if only my Mom can keep from crying when she gets here. :(

The weather here is starting to warm up so it looks like we’ll be catnapping inside today. My Mom had a tough time trying to give our outside fursib Sugar Bear, her 4th dose of medicine. Sugar Bear was nowhere to be found this morning, sending my Mom into a panic. Mom searched the front yard calling out for Sugar Bear while shaking a bag of Temptations. Then Mom noticed Ebony looking under the big hedge that divides our house from our neighbors. Mom got down on her knees with her flashlight and saw two little eyes peering back at her. Yep! It was Sugar Bear! The little kitty finally got wise to Mom’s tactics and was hiding from her! Us cats are so smart. MOL! So Mom fed Ebony and then mixed the Clavamox with some Fancy Feast in a bowl and pushed it under the hedge near Sugar Bear. Mom sat outside by the garage, petting Ebony and watching Sugar Bear. Good mews! Sugar Bear ate the whole bowl, much to Mom’s surprise. That just seemed too easy! Keep your paws crossed for us dear furiends!

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. Give your Mom, Dad and fursibs big hugs for us.

Training your Human =^.^=

Sometimes it can be necessary to discipline even the most well trained human. However, do remember never to hit a human. At the most, mark with a soft paw on the human's arm or hands. Try first to make your human understand what it has done wrong. And most importantly: be patient! The human intellect is relatively limited and it can be difficult for them to understand our wishes and needs.

Even after approximately 5000 years of domestication, the human species still has primitive instincts and it does take time to train your human completely.

Hi Mischief & family!
We have some mews on our two new outside fursibs, Ebony & Sugar Bear...

My Mom finally heard back from Denise, the lady from Alley Cat Allies. Denise found out Ebony was T-N-R’d way back in July 2010. Denise said 2010 was the first year of helping feral cats for the Feral Freedom Organization. Ebony was estimated to be approx. 2-3 years old in 2010. So Ebony is probably 6-7 years old now. BUT - Ebony is not from the same feral colony as Sugar Bear. Ebony was released to a colony located about 3 miles from my Mom’s house. So Denise doesn’t know what happened between 2010 and now, or how Ebony got here. Denise said Ebony was listed on his paperwork back in 2010 as a “Big Black Cat.” Denise laughed because my Mom always refers to Ebony as the “big cat.”

What remains a mystery is how and why Ebony and Sugar Bear became such good furiends? They are complete opposites! (With the exception they are both black cats, but Ebony is shorthaired and Sugar Bear is longhaired.) Ebony is big and very calm and quiet. Sugar Bear is small and can barely keep still for more than a minute. Sugar Bear is maybe a year old or less. Now we know Ebony could be 8 years old. They kind of remind us of Whitey and Orangie. It’s nice to know us cats really do look out for each other.:)

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We always have your precious family in our prayers sweetie.

P.S. My Mom got dose number 3 of Sugar Bear’s medicine down this morning. The mornings seem to be the best time to catch Sugar Bear off guard!

House-guests =^.^=

House-guests require special attention and handling. The following procedures should be followed:

House-guests that either do not like us or are allergic to us: As soon as they sit down - jump onto their lap.
Noisy children that run after you and/or pull your tail: It is your duty to punish them - it can be necessary to use both claws and teeth. However, be prepared that this can result in noise that is even more annoying and of an even louder decibel level.
Guests that try to get in contact with you by ingratiating themselves and speaking in a sweet voice: Should just be ignored. If they try to approach you, back away 5-6 feet - but never further away than they feel encouraged to try again. With a bit of practice this game can he kept going for hours.

Oh my! That Dayzee sounds like such a sweetheart! Your Mom is such an angel to go through all that trouble to get Dayzee inside. What our pawrents do for us kitties! Give your Mom a big hug for us. We're glad her and her friend didn't get caught in too big of a downpour while they were shopping. I'm not sure I remember what rain looks like! MOL!

Not too much going on here today. Mom is busy around the house, ignoring us. Humph! The weather is in the mid-eighties, nice enough for Callie and I to catnap outside on the deck. Whitey and Orangie are napping in their window beds.

My Mom was NOT able to give our new outside fursib, Sugar Bear, her second dose of antibiotics last night. Sugar Bear is no dummy and she hated the taste of the Clavamox. Who doesn’t?! BUT! Mom was able to grab her this morning. This time Mom gave Sugar Bear the syringe full of medicine, followed by a syringe full of blended cat food with water. Sugar Bear didn’t seem as upset. We’ll find out soon enough!

Sleeping Time =^.^=

It is important for us cats to prioritize our sleeping time. The objective is to get as much sleep done as possible while your human is awake. You will then be especially well rested and bushy-tailed at night when it is your job to keep your human awake. There is the classical "play with toes" approach: attack everything that moves under the duvet. You can also reenact highlights from last year's Grand National Steeplechase by repeatedly galloping across the bed. A couple of loud meows will give it an extra exiting dimension for your human.

water sports day today!
well janet signed the paperwork 3 of them easy as that and then she was supposed to prepay for the hood/parts which go with it as it turns out the hinges/latch were worn which is why it wouldn't close right and they never should have used the car as it was going to have to be replaced anyways and the insurance won't cover it unless it's in an accident and well that's out of pocket so lucky a credit card which was almost paid for was used to do that as nat will be getting that car even with all the repair problems coming up on it like new struts, new brakes which will be done next early spring before their new sticker, and then maybe the struts as they now will have been 3 years without new ones but the 02 sensor will be the last one unless something else which we won't talk about comes up. very froggy here this morn-ing and janet wanted to be out at 5:30, but a little to spooky for her taste so she sat down and started to sort through email and get the blogging started. perfect wea-ther for sports day around 85 here today warmest in 2 weeks, but have a backdoor cool front one we just got rid of backing in for this coming weekend so now boomers tomorrow as we can use a little rain despite the 4" we got last wednesday most of that ran off. sandy,ab,haley

Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom was able to successfully give our new outside fursib, Sugar Bear, her first dose of antibiotics last night. Sugar Bear’s nose is looking better today, if that’s possible. It might be wishful thinking on my Mom’s part. This morning both Sugar Bear and her furiend Ebony were waiting for breakfast, so thankfully Sugar Bear isn’t too mad at Mom. But you're right. Mom is worried it'll get much harder to give Sugar Bear her meds. Yikes!

We'll keep our paws crossed for when your pawrents try to crate Frosty. Whitey still hisses when Mom has to crate her, so using a towel is very wise.

Callie and I went out for our cat stroller walk this morning and there was a light mist falling. My Mom put the cover on our stroller so we wouldn’t get wet, but it felt nice coming through the front screen. We hope you all have a relaxing Tuesday!

More Ways To Prevent Your Human From Wasting Valuable Time =^.^=

Cleaning: stalk the vacuum cleaner and attack when it passes by. You can also pretend that you want to attack the vacuum cleaner but "accidentally" catch a foot instead. (A sure way to get the vacuum monster shut off immediately!)

Garden work: jump repeatedly up-and-down and scatter any leaves that your human has raked together. Attack gardening tools, especially while they are in use. Immediately dig up any newly planted seeds, plants and flowers.

Under no circumstances accept closed doors that separate you from your human. At all times you have a right to know what your human is doing. If by accident you have been placed on the wrong side of a door you need to make your human aware of this ASAP so he/she can remedy the situation immediately. Loud meows and scratching on the door should be sufficient to get your human's attention. If this is ignored you need to take more drastic measures: Make a sound as if you are going to throw up. All humans in a 50 feet radius can hear this sound. This sound can also be heard through closed doors. The "puke sound" will always result in your human's immediate presence.

Hi Mischief & family!
Our new outside fursib Sugar Bear went to the vet today because of a scab on her nose. The vet is treating her for an infection. The doctor doesn’t think it’s an allergy because Sugar Bear isn’t scratching a lot. So Sugar Bear got a penicillin shot and the rest of her booster shots. The vet also gave my Mom some Clavamox oral antibiotic drops to give Sugar Bear twice a day. The vet knows Sugar Bear is still an outside kitty right now, but she told my Mom to just try her best to give Sugar Bear the medicine.

Sugar Bear weighed 6.4 lbs when Mom took her in 2 weeks ago. Today she weighed 7 lbs! The vet told my Mom Sugar Bear is so small and docile, she’ll have a much better chance at surviving at our house, than going back to her feral colony. Mom was happy to hear the vet say that, even though it’s already been decided.

When Mom and Sugar Bear got back home, Ebony was waiting by the garage door for her furiend. It made my Mom’s eyes tear up. Those two kitties are such good furiends. When Mom let Sugar Bear out of the carrier, she started to run away, but turned around when she heard a can of cat food opened. Ebony and Sugar Bear ate heartily together. :)

Hi Mischief & family!
We had a great time at King Spanky’s Castle Game Night yesterday. I’m still recovering from the dunking booth! I noticed a lot of my furiends suddenly had very good aim when I was on the dunking seat. MOL! My sister Callie kept buying tickets to get in line until thankfully for me, she ran out of catbucks! (Hee, hee, hee...I know where she lives!)

Oh my goodness! You cats almost caught a cardinal?! My Mom would have been screaming! MOL! Mom is happy your Mom saved the little birdie! I bet you cats had a great time! Poor Oleo! The bird let Oleo know who is boss.

My Mom hasn’t heard back from the Alley Cat Allies lady, with information on Ebony, our new black cat furiend. Sugar Bear, the little momma cat has something on the bridge of her nose that looks kind of like a grayish colored scab. Sugar Bear is still eating great and running around like a kitten, but Mom doesn’t like the look of her nose, so Sugar Bear is going back to the vet on Monday. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. We’ll let you know what happens.

Other than that, it’s a quiet Sunday with temps in the mid eighties. Nice catnapping weather!

Grass Etiquette =^.^=

Before you eat grass, make sure that you are close to a suitable place to throw up. Delicate furniture fabrics, precious carpets, and shoes are all good places. If you choose furniture: aim for the part that has non-removable fabric. When you are getting down to business, make sure you back up a step or two so that you cover the largest area possible. Another technique is to do several items with pauses in-between. Persian carpets will provide a good camouflage effect and your little gift will often not be discovered until somebody steps in it.

just another
busy day in paradise as janet called it. she walked, then got cc/email sorted out and finished all but a few things just before she and nat were off to do the grocery shop-ping which ended in a scare since she found something sticking down underneath her car again, a quick call to the garage and they wanted to see her. turns out a broken fuel shield which was taken off another bill she wasn't expecting! once home she got things online finished as well as lunch, then spent the afternoon doing 2 more summer squash for 6 of those and 3 of sweet corn as she wants to do 2-3 more making it the last of those for this year and is waiting a long time for the rest of the lima beans as it's been so cool and autumnal again with temps yesterday not getting out of the upper 60s here! she also found 21/2 hours to get down on all 4's weeding the entire herb garden and using the junk to fill in a ditch across the street near their mailbox plus get the remainder of supper last night as mommy did the roast chicken. today it's more errands...
when is there not any????, followed by garden work unless she does it and it's dried off a bit more this morning and this afternoon making a chicken noodle cass-erole a penn dutch recipe as well as maybe more select-ive weeding inside the fence. back to work tomorrow too and hoping no errands or garden work so she can just kick back and sit and read till she's gotta get supper. sandy,ab,haley,angels

Hi Mischief & family!
Don't worry about stopping by each day dear furiend. We all know how busy a household full of wonderful pets can be. We're sure glad to hear Dayzee has been coming home at night. And she even comes when called! Such a good girl! We wish your Mom good luck when she takes Molly, BC and Frosty for checkups and vaccinations. Whew! Your sweet Mom has her hands full.

I'm pretty sure Sugar Bear and Ebony will be staying here. My Dad is starting to bend. MOL! My Mom is taking it slow and careful. She doesn't want to upset all of us too much. Whitey is Mom's main concern. Whitey is still such a nervous cat and can be mean at times. Baby steps!

My sister Callie and I have been taking our cat stroller walks a little bit later since Dad is back at work. We wave goodbye to Dad and are out the door by 6 a.m. But sadly, we haven’t seen any deer. It must be too late in the day for them. My Mom still fills the bucket with water and it’s always empty when we get there.

No word on our new outside furiend Ebony yet. My Mom returned the microchip scanner to Denise, the Alley Cat Allies lady, yesterday and we’re waiting for her to get back to us. Denise did say she is pretty sure Ebony is a male, since his left ear had been clipped when he was neutered. Denise said it should be a veterinary protocol to always clip the left ear of a TNR male feral cat, and the right ear of a female cat. (But the protocol is not always followed.) Mom feels it in her bones that Ebony is a male. Ebony is so cool and calm, like me. MOL! Oh, oh... Callie just gave me the “Evie” evil eye! Hee hee! (You have to know K. Mike, his sister Evie and their family to get that joke!).

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We hope your Friday is a fun one! :)

How to Care for Your Humans...

Prevent Your Human From Wasting Valuable Time =^.^=

One of the most important tasks we cats have is to prevent humans from wasting their time. Humans love to spend their time on things with no relevance for cats. For example watching TV, reading, talking on the phone - and many other things that have no entertainment value for us cats whatsoever. Many methods are available to prevent human time waste - use your imagination. Some especially effective techniques will be mentioned here.

Watching TV: make sure that you always position yourself between the TV and your human. On the coffee table for example. You can also lie on the TV and let your tail or paws swing down in front of the screen. This method is most effective with small screens where you can cover a large percentage of the screen. It is a bit trickier with a flat screen - and only recommended for the agile kitty. A variation can be used with a computer screen. Flat screens often leave a lot of empty space on the desk - so just get up in front - remind your human of how wonderful you are.

Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom and I are running a little behind in my blogging today and she just let the dreaded vacuum monster loose. Yikes!

My Mom was able to get a reading on Ebony’s microchip number last night. Mom is meeting with Denise, the Alley Cat Allies lady, later today. We should learn more about Ebony’s past history soon.

All of us kitties are fine, catnapping the day away, until now that is. I better go find my favorite hiding spot from the vacuum monster!

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. I'll meow at you soon dear furiend. We hope all is well with you and your precious family.

Wangling Extra Food =^.^=

All chances for a bit of extra food must and should be taken advantage of. Whenever your human is in the kitchen, you have a prime opportunity of getting an extra snack. When your human is busy at the kitchen counter place yourself in your humans blind angle (just behind the ankle is usually a good spot). And the second your human moves one or both feet you jump back screaming your most heart- wrenching cry. Your human will automatically assume that he/she stepped on you. When your human looks back scared to see what is happening look up at him/her with a painful expression on your face (practice this before hand in front of a mirror). Your human's bad conscience will often result an edible apology.

Hi Mischief & family!
Wow! We have never seen a yard sale that big! I bet a lot of people come from all over to shop there. Thankfully it is only for 4 days! We hope your weather is clearing up. We saw on the news some incredible rain falling back east. Very scary! Give your Mom, Dad and the family hugs for us.

We hope you and your family had a wonderful Wednesday day. Here is an update on our new outside furiends, Sugar Bear and Ebony...

Mom had a meeting with Denise, the lady from Alley Cats Allies organization. They are trying to find out which Feral Cat Colony Ebony came from and if it is the same colony Sugar Bear came from. Sugar Bear’s chip showed she came from across town and should have been put back in her neighborhood. :(

Anyway... Denise (the Alley Cat Allies lady) loaned my Mom a “Universal Worldscan Pocket Reader.” It is manufactured by “HomeAgain Pet Rescuers.” When my Mom got home, she tried the scanner out on Callie and me first. We all have microchips. The scanner worked great on both of us. Then Mom went outside and sure enough Ebony and Sugar Bear came running up the driveway when they heard the “Temptations” bag rattling. My Mom got close enough to Ebony to get a quick reading, but then Ebony got spooked and ran away from Mom. Mom wrote down the microchip number that came up. The microchip number is a lot different than ours and Sugar Bears, so Mom is going to try for a second reading tonight. Mom is afraid the scanner might have gotten a bad reading. Ebony is now looking at Mom with caution! MOL! I told my Mom to take a deep breath, relax and talk softly the next time she approaches Ebony. The scanner is a bit big and Ebony was a little frightened by the size of the digital scanner in Mom’s hand. Actually, Callie and I were both startled when Mom scanned us, but we know she means well - and it didn’t hurt at all!

Shed Hair Freely =^.^=

Make it a priority to shed indoors on appropriate surfaces. Fleece is a particularly suitable material to shred on. All you need to do is pass close by your human when he or she is wearing fleece. All cat hair within a radius of two feet from the fabric will immediately be transferred to your human. No brushing necessary for several days!

Another good solution is to get access to a filled clothes hamper. Jump in and give all contents a good work over. An extra bonus with this method is that most cat hairs will survive a trip to the washing machine. Your human will be stylishly accessorized with cat hair on all outfits.

Hi Mischief & family!
It’s a nice sunny day, perfect for catnapping. My Mom spoke to the lady from Alley Cats Allies this morning and learned a little bit more about Sugar Bear, one of our two new outside furiends. Apparently Sugar Bear is from a Feral Cat colony located on the other side of town from us. Sugar Bear should have been returned to her colony where she is familiar with her surroundings. The Alley Cat Allies lady (her name is Denise) is trying to figure out how this happened so it doesn’t happen again. She said a TNR cat that is not returned to his or her neighborhood could easy be frightened and killed. Denise wants to find out if the second cat, Ebony, is also from the same colony. Maybe that’s why the two kitties are such good furiends. Denise wants my Mom to try to scan the microchip in Ebony so she can get to the bottom of this. My Mom is going to meet Denise tomorrow so Denise can loan my Mom the scanner. Ebony is still very skittish around Mom, but Mom has been trying to earn Ebony’s trust.

My Mom asked Denise if would be in the cats’ best interest to go back to where they lived. Denise said she would normally say yes, but since Sugar Bear and Ebony have each other and Mom is willing to care for them, then they should both be fine here. We’ll let you all know what happens.

I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We hope the bad storms have blown away. I hope your fursibs didn't get too scared. We were so sad to hear about Robin Williams too. He was such a kind and generous person. Let's pray he can rest in peace now.

Entertaining your Human =^.^=

The litter box provides a great opportunity for entertaining your human. Naturally there is all the fun your human can have cleaning and scooping out the box. A lot of human time can also be used getting fresh litter - going to the pet store, transporting it home etc. However many humans like new challenges. Utilize your litter box time in the best possible way. Make interesting and artistic renderings of countries or well-known islands. Your human will have lots of fun guessing which one you made. Humans like game shows - so this should be a popular activity. When your human increases in skill, you can also make portraits of family and friends. Start with profile portraits - this will make it easer for your human.

Hi Mischief & family!
You look so beautiful in your profile picture! Simply stunning as always!

Today is our Dad’s first day back at school. School doesn’t begin for the kids until Tuesday, but the teachers have meetings on Monday. Our weather is very nice, in the low eighties, so Callie and I will be sunning on the deck for a while. Whitey and Orangie are already sunning in the bedroom window.

The outside kitties Sugar Bear and Ebony, ate very well this morning. Sugar Bear loves playing with her Cosmic Catnip banana. She already chewed right through the first one and is on her second one! Mom needs to make a trip to Petco this week.

How to Care for Your Humans...
(Useful Advice for Cats - Part 1)
~~~~~
For us cats there are several sweet advantages in having a human as a pet. However, remember you are taking on a big responsibility when you adopt one or more humans. Humans are demanding pets that need daily care and attention.
With responsibility come both advantages and disadvantages. If you adopt a human, you must get used to spending time at home. Your human does not deal well with being left alone - they will get into all sorts of mischief. For example, if you are gone just two or three days you run the risk of seeing posters put up all over the neighborhood. Your human will put out an APB on you! Often it will include an embarrassing text that reveals all sorts of personal details - and usually accompanied by an unflattering photo of you - with morning fur and crumpled whiskers. Exactly the kind of thing that attracts ridicule from all the neighbor cats.
So please consider carefully if you are ready for a life with humans. In addition, remember humans generally grow very old, so there is a big chance that you will spend the rest of your life with your human.
Hi Mischief & family!
We get our stroller walk every morning. I never thought I would say it, but Callie and I actually look forward to it now. Plus Mom feels compelled to leave some water in the bucket for the animals. It's a good incentive for her to get up and walk, so that's a good thing. MOL!
My Mom got an email from the Alley Cat Allies’ lady who had been helping her with Sugar Bear, the black momma cat. The nice lady said she would like to come out to meet both Sugar Bear and Ebony. She looked up the microchip number that was placed inside Sugar Bear and apparently Sugar Bear (who was a TNR cat), was returned to the wrong neighborhood. She is wondering about Ebony too. The Alley Cat Allies’ lady is perplexed and wants to see if Sugar Bear should be relabeled as adoptable. It’s all a bit confusing to our Mom, so Mom would love to speak to the lady and hopefully figure out what is going on.
My Mom is ready to take care of both cats and is in the process of getting some outdoor housing up for them. But if Sugar Bear has a chance to go to a loving home, then she wants whatever is best for the little cat. Ebony is not too friendly and seems older, so he (or she) is here to stay.
Whitey and Orangie were running up and down the stairs this morning around 1 a.m., sounding like little horses in the house. Mom thought it was me and got up to put me back to bed. I heard Mom calling my name and I waved my paw at her. I was right by her feet! So we were all surprised to see Whitey & Orangie playing together like kittens! Then it took furever for all of us to get back to sleep. MOL!
the only
downside is that they forgot mommy's water as she likes the bigger bottles with sport caps and also treats for pepper, but the money ran out so they came home and tried explaining to mommy about it, but she wouldn't have any-thing to do with it and wanted to argue whenever it was brought up and now another dr.s appt for her has popped up next week due to her asthma they tried a nebulizer which was working for a few months, but after a while the body becomes immune as janet can tell you about that one to drugs and you have to find something else. anyways today is picking what there is in the gardens and freezing them afterwards. janet's leaving the wash till tomorrow morning so she won't have to rush in getting up as early trouble is feels like she pulled something in her neck to shoulder muscles as she gets up and they're stiff and sore for almost a week now and lessened with a change in pillows, but janet still felt it when she walked some this morning. down to 52 here and looks like since the sun is now up it's time to stop blogging and getting to work on what she can pick-ing in both gardens before it gets hot out as it's all wet now and things to be done otherwise have to wait. sandy,ab,haley,angels
Hi Mischief & family!
It was another lazy day for us kitties. Mom and Dad were gone most of the morning, but didn’t forget to come back with treats for all of us.
The outside cats are doing very well. Mom finally named the momma cat “Sugar Bear” and the big black cat that is her constant companion, “Ebony.” Both cats have been eating their food twice a day and Sugar Bear doesn’t look so skinny anymore. My Dad made a snide comment that Sugar Bear is starting to look like one of Mom's cats. Hey! I think he might have been insulting me. Humph! Doesn’t he know it’s World Cat Day?! MOL!
This morning when my fed the outside kitties, Sugar Bear ate her food and then starting rolling around my Mom's feet, jumping back and playing like a kitten. It was so cute (or so my Mom thought! MOL!) Mom also was able to pet Ebony a little longer than before. Ebony likes her head scratched, but when Mom touches her body, she shrinks away- like maybe expecting to be hit. It is so sad. Reminds my Mom of how Whitey was before we brought her inside. My Mom wants to bring them both inside, but needs to work on Dad some more. MOL!
Hi Mischief & family!
You’ll never believe it, but we finally got some rain showers here today! Whoo hoo! Okay, actually just a little drizzle, but it lasted for almost 5 hours this morning, watering all the vegetation around the walking trail. Mom took Callie and me on our cat stroller walk this morning and the rain mist felt nice. We didn’t see any deer today, but we’re hoping they were off frolicking in the mist.
Our two new outside cats are doing really well. Both cats were making good use of Whitey & Orangie’s Igloo in the front yard. Mom keeps it cozy with clean blankets and a bed inside, and the two cats were snuggled together inside this morning.
My Mom ordered a new outdoor cathouse that she found on the internet. It’s insulated, has a removable door flap to block out rain and wind, has an entry overhang with shingles that match the roof and even has a small escape door on the side with a flap that only works from the inside, so no animal can use it from the outside It should be here in a couple of weeks. Mom is hopeful the cats will use it, since they seem comfortable with the Igloo. Keep your paws crossed.
My Mom found out the reason for the microchip in the little momma cat, placed by the Feral Freedom Organization. Feral cats are trapped, neutered and released after being deemed under-socialized, with no major health issues. The microchip is registered to the San Jose Animal Control, signaling the cat has been returned to his or her colony where he or she was captured. Feral Freedom members should have left door hangers around the neighborhood, letting the people know what was happening. That sure would have helped my Mom. But now Mom knows how to recognize the TNR cats. Mom will continue to leave food out during the day like always. Mom has only seen the two black cats, so that is her main focus for now. Mom can’t believe the little momma cat was flagged as an unadoptable cat. The little momma is very loving and let’s Mom handle her. The other black cat is extremely skittish, not letting Mom get too close yet, but always the momma cat's constant companion. Mom is hoping to be able to bring both cats inside, but for now she'll set up a nice outdoor shelter. We're sure it will be put to good use. (Plus Mom is still working on our Dad.:) Dad is always a softie at heart.)
Hi Mischief & family
Wow! BC is awesome! That cat certainly is earning his keep! MOL! And you mean to say your pawrents didn't frame either of the mouseys?! Go BC Go! If there are any mice left, I bet they hightailed it out of there!
My Mom took the little black momma cat to my vet. It turns out the kitty is spayed already AND she has a microchip registered under "Feral Freedom." Apparently the cat had kittens and was spayed on 07/01/2014. The vet checked the cat's nipples and they look okay. There were still some stitches left in her tummy from being spayed, so the vet took them out. The vet also gave her injections for FVR-CP, FELV and Rabies. Mom also had her put some Revolution Flea medicine on her. The momma cat doesn't appear to have fleas, but just in case.
The vet and my Mom tried calling the Feral Freedom Organization to find out more about the cat, but there was only an answering machine. We have the cat's microchip number, so we’ll keep trying to find why there is a microchip in the little cat.
The little black cat is so cute. My Mom was afraid the momma cat would be mad at her, but last night and this morning she was rubbing all over my Mom’s legs and playing with her Cosmic Catnip banana doing the bunny kick. Mom was even able to easily pick her up and pet her. The momma cat and her feline furiend were sitting on the roof of the outside cat feeding station, looking very happy. Mom’s next project is to get a nice outdoor cathouse for the two cats.
My Mom would love to bring the 2 cats inside, but she'll need to work on Dad a bit. He's a softie deep down, so we're hopeful. MOL!
My Mom is still in contact with the lady from Alley Cat Allies, hoping the two cats can still be adopted. In the meantime, they seem to be happy here.
Hi Mischief & family!
Today was Petco Day for us and our Mom didn’t let us down. She got everything on our list! Callie and I got to see two deer on our walk this morning, Mom filled up their water bucket and even though they watched us from far away, they didn’t run off. Callie and I waved at them as we strolled by. My Mom is pushing our cat stroller every morning at 5 a.m. Dad is always with us too. We might have to leave a bit earlier once Dad goes back to work. It's dark outside, but the trail is well lit.
My Mom is preparing to catch the momma cat tonight for her visit to the vet in the morning. My Mom is nervous, but is trying to remain calm and think pawsitive. Hopefully we’ll have good mews tomorrow. If the vet tells my Mom the cat is still nursing, Mom will bring her right back home. If not, Mom wants to get the little momma fixed. We're hoping the vet will be able to give us the right advice.
Oh no! I can't believe we missed seeing you kitties at the Coronation! That darned Mom of mine. She seems to be preoccupied these days with the momma cat outside. Hopefully things will get better soon. It was a wonderful Coronation and I bet you kitties looked great!
The Cat (A Funny Story) =^.^=
~~~~~
A pastor had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down.

The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.

He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved a little further forward, the rope broke.

The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight.

The pastor felt terrible.

He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business.

A few days later he was at the grocery store and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?"

She replied, "You won't believe this," and told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, "Well if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it!"

She told the pastor, "I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes.

A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her."

Hi Mischief & family!
Today was grocery-shopping day for our pawrents, so we had the house to ourselves this morning. Whitey & Orangie actually ventured downstairs to join Callie and me. We stayed on opposite sides of the room, but that’s okay. Mom was very proud of us. Tomorrow is Petco day, so I’ll be making my list later. MOL!

We didn’t see any deer on our cat stroller walk this morning, but we did see some cute raccoons. They watched my Mom as she filled up the bucket with water.

The little momma cat is still coming here to eat, but sadly no kittens have shown up. Mom is going to try to take the little momma cat to the vet Monday morning. Keep your paws crossed. We hate to think people can be so cruel as to leave a cat behind to fend for themselves. Dayzee was so lucky to have been found by your wonderful pawrents. If only all cats could be so fortunate.

We had a wonderful time at King Spanky’s Coronation yesterday. We’ll miss Queen Angel Wendy, but she deserves a nice vacation. We can hardly wait to get to know Lil’ Bear better. She sure is a beautiful black kitty.

My Dad says he isn't ready to go back to teaching school yet, but we can tell he's happy because he has been playing the piano for us again. Callie and I like to listen from the top of the stairs. Whitey & Orangie used to hide when they heard the piano, but now they curl up on the bed upstairs and listen too.

Creatures Of God
~~~~~
Animals bring to us a love not found in (the) humankind.
Theirs is a love of unspoken warmth,
companionship, and tenderness.
Theirs is an unconditional love, born out
of trust and loyalty.
All creatures in nature are created
And formed in His true delight.
Each has a special place in the
cycle of life.
Whether fur, feather, quill, scale,
skin, or hide,
Their existence is essential to the
balance and continuation
Of harmony in our universe.
The comfort we receive from earthly
creatures is soulful,
And at times heavenly.
The bond between animals and humans is one
not easily broken.
Even in death,
Beloved animals stir love, comfort, and
We learn so much from the simple lives
and love of animals
Let us always remember to hold them
firmly in our love,
As they hold us firmly in their trust.
Hi Mischief & family!
It has been busy here at home with my Dad getting ready to start the new school year. (He is a high school math/music teacher.) Callie and I went for our a ride in our cat stroller this morning, but no deer were there to greet us. We still fill up the water bucket for any of our furry furiends that find it.
We are all doing fine. We still haven’t seen any kittens yet with the little momma cat, but she is eating a can of cat food, three times a day and she is looking healthy. My Mom is thinking of trying to take the momma cat to our vet on Monday. The vet assured my Mom if the momma cat is still nursing, she can still spay her without harming the nursing milk. My Mom has a bad feeling that the kittens are gone because the momma cat spends more and more time here. So Mom plans on picking up the momma cat late Sunday night and keeping her in a cat carrier until Monday morning. Mom hopes she is doing the right thing. Then Mom will keep her inside for a few days and let the lady from Alley Cat Allies know what is happening. (She said she would help find her a home.) Mom doesn't want to say it out loud, but we might have a new fursis. Sshh! Don't tell my Dad. MOL!
It’s hard to believe another month has gone by and we’ll all be blessed with another CC Coronation. Life is good. We’ll see you at the Castle tomorrow!
I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We hope you have a great day.
The Real Question =^.^=
~~~~~
The question: How many cats does it take to change a light bulb?

The Cat's Answer: Cats do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs.
The real question is: "How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"
