Mischief - Praying for the sick and the lost!

About Me

Active within 1 Day

Hi! My name is Mischief - Praying for the sick and the lost!

I am Domestic Longhair from Crossville, TN

Nicknames: Mishy, Pretty Girl, Piggy

Age: 4 years old

Gender: F

Coat: long haired

Education: Mischief has begun visiting the local nursing home as a therapy cat. She is not certified, yet, but it's not required there. Everyone loves her!

Got her first COTD/CROTD badges on 8/7/12

She became Duchess of Dashingness by winning the ladies competition of the Magnificent Tail Contest on 8/11/12.

My favorite tricks and treats are: She can jump really high when going after Da Bird, or a fly! and She will eat Temptations once in awhile, but she's not excited about treats. Once in awhile, she'll eat Friskies Party Mix out of my hand.

Where I hang out: She loves to sit on either of the towers, or on the window perch. She also like to sit in my bedroom window and watch the birds in the trees.

My favorite grubs: She loves any and all wet food, to the point that she tries to steal everyone elses.

My pet peeves: Not being able to go outside without a harness and leash.
Not being allowed to eat my fursibs food, cuz I want it all!

What I love about my owners: She and Dad made me a part of the family and I have a bigger place to roam around in. I also have many windows to look out of and see all the birds and other critters. They found a good place for my littermates to go.

My cat hobbies: Eat! Run through the house and play with Da Bird and other string or wand toys and sometimes my fursibs. Mom now takes me out in the front yard in the morning, so I can smell the grass, maybe eat a blade or two and chase bugs! Eat!

Pet motto: She doesn't have one, yet.

How We Met

A family was evicted from the mobile home park next door and they had to leave 5 cats behind. My husband and I took care of them for 3 days until animal control could come and collect them. We fell in love with Mischief and brought her home. The others went to an organization called A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin') where they will be cared for until homes are found for them. They are a no-kill organization. We learned just this week (July, 2012) that all of her siblings have been adopted!

Hi Mischief & family!
It was a sunny day today but we’re expecting (and hoping for!) rain tomorrow. My Mom took Callie and me for our stroller walk this morning. On our way home we saw Ebony and Sugar sitting in the bay window next door. We waved at them, but those silly cats were napping. My Mom was very happy and kind of sad from missing them too. (I’m just hoping to get a lot more attention around here now. MOL!)

We are so happy to hear Q. Duchess is doing so well. It sounds like your sweet Mom is taking really good care of her. I have to have my ears washed twice a week and I hate it, but it has kept me getting any more ear infections, so I guess that's okay. I'm the only one with dirty ear problems! Gee whiz!

That's wonderful that Felix is doing so well too! and it's great that Q. Duchess is eating his new food. You're so right - it couldn't hurt! We'll keep them both in our prayers, along with Midnight, Shorty and Frosty. Give the family big hugs for us.

Enjoy your weekend! (Hee, hee, hee! I run too when my Dad looks at me! There's just something about his face. MOL!)

We left a vote with purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

ON A CAT, AGEING
~~~~~
He blinks upon the hearth-rug
And yawns in deep content,
Accepting all the comforts
That Providence has sent.
Louder he purrs, and louder,
In one glad hymn of praise
For all the night’s adventures,
For quiet restful days.
Life will go on forever,
With all that cat can wish,
Warmth and the glad procession
Of fish and milk and fish.
Only - the thought disturbs him -
He’s noticed once or twice,
The times are somehow breeding
A nimbler race of mice.
Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom and I running late today. We’re helping her catch up on house cleaning (yeah sure!) and she made a trip to Petco today.
Ebony & Sugar Bear are doing fine at their new furever home. My Mom got them two “Kitty Sills” for their room upstairs (per their new Mom’s request).
My Mom just got back from installing them. They came out great! We hope you had a fun Thursday!
We hope all is well with you and your family sweet furiend. Give Queen Duchess a gentle hug for us, Felix too. How is Felix doing my furiend? Just let us know when you get a chance sweetie. We know your pawrents are busy. We love all of you and always have you all in our prayers.
Countdown to Halloween---Day 8
First, I want to thank all of you who brought these decorations to the new gazebo. It is looking so frightfully "Halloweeny"! Love it!
Spanky-Jack has asked about the origin of Trick or Treat. Great subject. Many Pagans celebrate Samhain, it's also Halloween. Trick or treating hasn't been around as long as the holiday itself, but let's look at how this custom evolved. In Britain, people celebrated All Soul's Day for many years. Poor people went begging and received treats known as Soul Cakes. When a beggar got a Soul Cake, he promised to say a prayer for the dead. This was known as going "a-souling".
In Ireland, the poor asked for eggs, butter and food for a festival honoring St. Columba. In County Waterford, the night was known as "mischief night". By the 19th century, Americans had brought their homeland traditions with them and begging for sweets was no longer the domain of the poor but, was a children's activity. It was typically organized in the home country's traditions-girls stayed inside playing games of divination and boys went out and caused trouble in the neighborhood. More tomorrow...
Hi Mischief & family!
Last night was Ebony and Sugar Bear’s first night in their new furever home next door. My Mom got a call from the neighbor’s Mom this morning, frantic because she couldn’t find the cats and was afraid they had slipped out the door. My Mom went over there with her flashlight and found them hiding in the upstairs closet. My Mom apologized for not warning her neighbor about cats liking to hide in “safe places” and my Mom told her to never shut an open closet door or drawer without first checking to see if a cat is napping inside. We’ve learned that the hard way with me getting locked in a closet! MOL!
Brrr! 38 degrees is cold and a high of only 58? My Mom says her bones ache just thinking about your cold weather!
We are so happy to hear Queen Duchess doesn't have any kidney problems. It seems like kidney issues are almost always a problem for cats and dogs. Q. Duchess is a strong girl and we hope she has many more years with her precious family.
Frosty sounds like a real sweetheart. Oh that BC! Hasn't BC realized yet it's easier to get along with others, than it is to snarl and fight?! Our Whitey is the same way. My Mom is always hoping Whitey will mellow with time.
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We'll keep Midnight, Frosty and all your fursibs in our prayers sweetie. Tell your pawrents we said meow!
Here’s a scary Halloween poem about a witch and her very hungry cat! =^.^=
Old Scary Witch
~~~~~
Old scary Witch lived down the street,
Insects and rats she would eat.
Acting evil was her game,
Knew the spells to make a flame.

Old scary Witch lived down the street,
Only ate kids that were sweet.
She had this old scary black cat,
He ate other cats, that made him fat.

Old scary Witch lived down the street,
She was missing both her feet.
You guessed it, it was her cat,
He ate her feet and her bat!

Countdown to Halloween---Day 9
J.C. goes on. This is from About.Com. Much easier to understand than the old Books of Shadows. Around the eight century, the Church decided to use Nov. 1 as All Saints Day. The local Pagans were already celebrating that day. All Saint's honored any Saint who did not have a day of their own. The mass said on All Saints was called Allhallowmas-the mass of all those who are hallowed. The night before was All Hallows Eve, which morphed into Halloween. Sunset on Samhain is the beginning of the Celtic New Year. The harvest has been gathered, cattle and sheep have been brought in from the field and leaves have fallen. It is time to look at wrapping up the old and preparing for the new. Think about the past year. Have you left things unresolved?Get that cleared up and you can look toward the next year. This is the night to celebrate the memory of the departed. They may return to communicate with you from beyond the veil, and offer advice protection and guidance. In the Celtic tradition, Samhain was spread out over three days. With feasting each night. Think we could handle that? Course we can! More tomorrow.
One day pawty? Not while I'm on the throne. Queen Mimi

Hi Mischief & family!
The sun is back out today, but this morning it was a chilly 47 degrees. That’s cold for us! Callie and I are catching the sunrays in the bay window. Whitey and Orangie are catnapping in the bedroom window upstairs. Ebony and Sugar are sunning in the front yard on top of their cathouse. Tonight Ebony and Sugar Bear will spend their first night in their new furever home next door. The neighbor’s Mother is just about all moved in, so my Mom will take the two kitties over this afternoon. We can tell our Mom is going to miss them, but we all know it’s for the best. Keep your paws crossed!

Thanks for the prayers and get well wishes for my Mom. Mom is much better, just feeling slow and weak. She told us it gets harder to recover from the flu as she gets older. Good thing she had her flu shot a while ago. It could have been worse!

Midnight is a beautiful name for a black kitty. The good thing about being a feral cat, is that they know how to hide when people are around, like on Halloween. We're sure Midnight will be okay, but we'll be praying for him. It couldn't hurt!

Give sweet Q. Duchess a soft, warm hug for us. We're looking forward to the Castle Halloween pawty too. Tell your pawrents we said meow and let them know we always have your precious family in our prayers.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

SOME HALLOWEEN CAT LUCK AND LORE =^.^=

• If you kick a cat you will develop an illness in the leg used to strike out.

• The ancient Egyptians believed that cats captured the light of the setting sun in their eyes, and preserved it until morning.

• To have a cat follow you home is good luck.

• Legend has it that the Manx breed lost its tail as a result of boarding Noah’s Ark, when the door closed on its tail.

• A cat is very often kept as a lucky mascot in the theatre and disaster strikes any actor who dares to kick it!

• Never kick a cat or you will get rheumatism; never drown one or the devil will get you. Throughout the world it is considered to be bad luck to mistreat a cat. This worldwide respect for the cat is probably rooted in those ancient religions in which the cat was a sacred animal and where retribution would befall those who harmed it.

Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom is feeling better today. Thank you for your well wishes. They really helped :) Not much going on here today. Can you believe we are getting a little rain? Okay, just a light drizzle, but every drop of rain counts here in California! My Mom is moving very slow today, so we’re keeping a close eye on her.

We are so happy Queen Duchess is doing so well. Please give her a soft, warm hug for us. Aw, Frosty is such a sweetheart. What a relief to know she isn't pregnant! Whew! Now if only everything goes smoothly with Shorty. Does anything thing ever go smoothly?! We have our paws crossed for your Mom and Shorty and we always have your family in our prayers dear furiend.

The Black Cat (The facts)
~~~~~
Neither evil nor demonic,
they’re cats that are jet black.
They hold no impious malice
yet they seem to get the flack.
No hint of special powers
or maleficent intent.
Just coal black feline beauties
with a gentle temperament.
They cannot curse or jinx you
or strike you from above.
They’re magnificent half sized panthers
with capacity to love.
The occult is not their forte
they’d rather have a snooze.
Black cats are simple felines,
no need for strange taboos.
They’re overlooked at shelters
residing there for years.
They witness every prejudice
and all unfounded fears.
It’s a black cat bias syndrome
as statistics seem to show.
They’re judge on only colour
just why we’ll never know!
All the huge black cat fanatics
will clearly put you straight.
The melanistic feline
is a cat’s that truly great!!!!!
Hi Mischief & family!
Sorry we didn’t get to paw by yesterday. My Mom has the stomach flu and slept most of Saturday. We all kept her company on the bed, giving her lots of purr therapy, a sure cure for any ailment. My Mom’s tummy feels better today, but her old bones are still aching. Ebony and Sugar Bear stayed locked in our backyard all day yesterday and probably today. Mom doesn’t want to take them next door for their daily visit because she doesn’t want to spread her germs.
We have sweet Queen Duchess always in our prayers sweetie. Give all your family big hugs for us.
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. Have a relaxing Sunday with your furever family.
Hi Mischief & family!
Happy Friday furiends! My Mom had errands to do this morning, so she put Ebony and Sugar Bear inside at the next-door neighbor’s house. (A sort of trial run.) When Mom came home, she saw Ebony in the bay window next door. So cute! About an hour later, Mom went next door to see how the kitties were doing. When Mom opened the door, Ebony jumped into her arms! Ebony is a big 15-pound boy and Mom has never had a cat jump in her arms! A lot of puppy dogs, but never a cat! Mom sat down and Ebony sat in her lap. Sugar Bear was being a kitten, running up and down the stairs. This weekend the neighbor’s Mom will be moving in permanently. We think the kitties just need someone to keep them company. Keep your paws crossed!
We have sweet Queen Duchess and your family in our prayers sweetie. Take care and make sure your Mom gets some rest this weekend.
For all you black cats out there, a lovely poem by Teresa Harrison-Best...
The Steps To Reach Fulfilment =^.^=
~~~~~
I want to sing the virtues
of having a black cat.
So elegant and glossy,
never tedious nor matt.

They’ll never clash with décor
or lose their sense of style.
They’ll compliment all your colours
with an allure that will beguile.

When holding any black cat
you’ll always look most chic.
With an element of wonder,
and hint of pure mystique.

Just think of them as slimming,
as black gives that effect.
An optical illusion,
such a bonus I suspect.

You’ll never need a clothes brush,
if dressing in black tie.
Just think of all the tantrums,
of many years gone bye.

They never look too grubby,
and their feet are always clean.
Despite the many mud baths
they always look pristine.

In snow you’ll never lose them,
such a monochrome delight.
They never fade in sunlight,
Just always looking so bright.

Black cats are very lucky,
as you would clearly see.
They’ll give you much enjoyment,
and you will soon agree.

It’s very noisy here today with lots of big trucks as they repave our street. The workers started at 7:30 this morning. Even though the construction company warned all the neighbors about the repaving, we saw several neighbors running outside, frantic to get to work in their cars. The workers used the first half hour to cordon off the street, giving time for the silly neighbors who hadn’t prepared.

We are all hiding inside the house. Ebony and Sugar Bear are safe in the backyard. My Mom has set out treats for all of us, but it’s way too noisy to eat - even for me. MOL!

We never know what the day may bring,
or what we have in store.
Each day is taken in our stride,
just like the one’s before.

Some of us have battle scars,
and wounds that cause us pain.
Mother nature is our nurse,
and soothes us back again.

We’re loath to trust, it keeps us safe
the past has taught us well.
Compassion’s shown by very few,
how many? We can’t tell.

The elements can be unkind,
both old and young may die.
Life is tough for feral cats,
for that we won’t deny.

Some us are trapped and caught,
no longer can we breed.
Others wind up at the pound,
for them a home they plead!

Our future’s never guaranteed,
the risks for us are great.
Poison, cars and unkind folk,
can often seal our fate.

However, we just soldier on,
we’re streetwise, shrewd and smart.
We’ll take our chance in the hostile world,
and hope it has a heart! ♥

Hi Mischief & family!
We read on the CMR page about how Queen Duchess is doing. We are keeping her and Felix in our prayers. We hope the new food makes her feel better and we have our paws crossed the diarrhea doesn't dehydrate her. We know she is in good hands with your Mom and Dad. It sure was wonderful to see Queen Duchess' pretty face as our COTD! Give her and the family big hugs for us.

The temperature dropped 20 degrees from yesterday! It smells like rain outside, but so far no raindrops have hit the ground. Last evening we had gusty winds up to 30 mph, so this morning my Mom was raking up all the leaves and broken branches in the yard. When Mom took Callie and me on our stroller walk this morning, the trail was covered with crunchy leaves. I couldn’t get my usual nap in while we were strolling because it was so noisy!

Tomorrow our street is going to be repaved so we’ll all be prisoners in our houses from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. I made sure my Mom has all the essentials in the house - cat food, cat treats and cat toys. MOL! My Mom is going to park her car on an adjacent street just in case of an emergency, since our street will be covered in wet asphalt all day. Mom is also going to keep our outside fursibs Ebony & Sugar Bear locked up in our backyard, just to be safe.

Wow! You guys are getting too much rain! Thank goodness your house is not in a flood zone. Try not to be scared dear furiend. We'll be praying for all of you.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

SOME HALLOWEEN CAT LUCK AND LORE =^.^=
^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^
• A new cat given the name of a recently deceased cat will bring you good luck.

• Cat lore in ancient Thailand taught that when a particularly spiritual, or holy person died, their soul would enter the body of a cat, and would then ascend to Paradise when the cat died.

• In mythology, the cat was believed to have great influence on the weather. Witches who rode on storms took the form of cats. The dog, an attendant of the storm king Odin, was a symbol of wind. Cats came to symbolize down-pouring rain, and dogs to symbolize strong gusts of wind. This may be where the phrase "it's raining cats and dogs" originated.

• If two cats were seen fighting around a dying person, or near a grave shortly after a funeral, this represented the Devil and an Angel fighting for possession of the recently departed soul.

games today!
well janet had to wait longer this morning till it was light enough and her camera would take better pics at that time so around 7:45 which is way later than usual. so she sat her blog-ging on and on and on finished the other page and then set out with sandals, bare feet and shorts as well as a short sleeved top on as it was more than warm enough mid 60s here and extra tropical outside and still is with showers on and off as we just had a heavy one first since last night sometime. well she got off some good pics then her camera hit something in her pocket and deleted all of which she had taken since her last long walk on friday morning and she started from scratch on her way home halfway through shays st. and down southeast on her way home. she was debating whether or not to do potwine lane again, but didn't since she had a huge blister at the base of her big right toe on that ball and hurts so will likely pop sometime the next 6 days at work as she'll be on her feet nonstop. at least the windows have been opened up all last night and so far today and likely tonight or go down and she'll start her fan so she won't get to hot like she woke up earlier this morning only to fall back asleep before it was time to get up and going. she did get the other cc page done before she left this morn-ing and breakfast as well so that was a wonder as usually she won't eat till she's back from her walk, not today. she also got all of the ground lima beans pulled up as well as the roots of the pole limas and picked everything which was ready so at least they'll have a small meal of those from 2 pickings. the other stuff will come up at some point soon! sandy,ab,haley,angels

Hi Mischief & family!
Well, us kitties had the house to ourselves today. My Dad had car problems this morning on the way to work and Mom had to go rescue him and his car. Mom took him to school because you can’t have a teacher missing school without a substitute! So Dad’s car is in the shop and the tow truck driver brought Mom home. My Mom saw all of us, even Whitey and Orangie, looking out the bay window when she got home. Ebony and Sugar Bear were sitting on their cathouse in the front yard.

We were all happy to see our Mom, even though she didn’t bring us back any treats. MOL!

Hey sweetie! We just read on the CMR page that Queen Duchess has a case of the runs. Poor baby! We hope your Mom was able to get something for her from the vet. If Q. Duchess gets dehydrated, my Mom says to try to give her some Pedialyte with an eyedropper. Your Mom can get it at any store. It's for kids who are dehydrated after having diarrhea. My Mom used it for Callie when she was sick from her bladder stones. It tastes good so it's easy to for a cat to keep down. Oh dear furiend, we'll be praying for sweet Q. Duchess. We'll keep Felix in our prayers too. Give your Mom a bug hug for us.

• Out Groomed-
Does your cat go to the “spa” and get the full treatment – groom, nails, polish – while you do a self-dye job at home? Or maybe your cat gets a new outfit each season while you are still rockin’ parachute pants. You are probably a crazy cat purrson.

• Cat-itecture-
Are your walls covered with cat “shelves.” Did you put holes through the walls between rooms to create walkways for your feline friends? You are probably a crazy cat purrson.

• Always Have Room for One More-
And finally, can you not turn away when you see a cat in need? No matter what were supposed to be doing, do you stop to pick up that stray cat? You ARE a Crazy Cat Purrson and we LOVE you for the good deeds you do!

Countdown to Halloween---Day 17
WindSong was chasing a bat around my chamber and gave me this idea. Bats, like black cats are associated with evil. BatCat, from the Cathouse will give this talk as he is a creature of the night and familiar with bats.
Bat Cat proceeds: In the Middle Ages, bats were believed to be in league with the devil. Able to transform into wolves, or humans, as in Dracula. Bats worked at night and mysteriously disappeared at dawn, hence the bad rep was acquired by these harmless creatures, that were chasing and eating insects around the fire. Bats are not birds, but mammals and the only mammal capable of flight. Bats are not blind. Their eyes are small, but very keen. Bats are able to perform their blind flight by a form of radar. Their shrieking bounces off of objects and guides them. Hence, radar and a bat's ears have much in common. Thanks Bat Cat. I guess the bats are ready for Halloween.
Sorry Duchess is sick. Hope she is all well soon. Purrs...Queen Mimi

Hi Mischief & family!
Someone has let the dreaded vacuum monster loose today! Yikes! It’s a sunny day so Callie and I are hiding in the backyard and Whitey & Orangie have the upstairs bedroom as their safe haven. Our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear are lucky to be outside in the front yard.

My Mom had the two outside cats over at their new home yesterday for several hours. The plan is to have Ebony and Sugar Bear moved in next-door full time next week. Mom wants them to be inside cats BEFORE Halloween. Ebony and Sugar Bear are both black cats and we all know how dangerous it can be for black cats out on Halloween night.:(

Give sweet Felix a hug for us. We have all of you in our prayers every night.

Hi Mischief
Oh Happy Day!!!! CC is FINALLY back. Last week we went through CC withdrawal. I’m sure you feel the same way.

What’s mew with you? I was sicky with a nasty hairball. But thankfully I am all better now. My sisters have been doing their usual stuff, mostly ignoring me. Shame on them! Mommy & Nana had their 6 month dental cleanings & checkups Friday. Glad it was them and not me!

We watched football games this weekend. Our Saints had a bye week. Two Mississippi colleges are ranked in the Top Three in the nation – MS State is #1 and Ole Miss #3. Although we are happy, we are actually Southern Miss fans.

It is still almost 90 degrees here. The weather forecast for this afternoon & tonight is scary – lots of heavy rain, 60-70 mph winds, hail & possible tornadoes. We are not looking forward to that. I better go hide!

Purrs to you,
K Casper Todd

Countdown to Halloween---Day 18
My, the castle grounds look so bare! All the pumpkins are safely carved and inside awaiting the big day. The Racing Team Rats very nicely cleaned up the pumpkin residue. Speaking of rats, J.C., I want you to ask Exit to send a couple of rockets over and take these rats back to New York. I am concerned about the way some cats are eyeing them. We have plenty of food for all, but cats see rats and you know, the nature of the beast takes over. I promised the mayor of NYC that his team would not be harmed. You guys skitter on over to the rockets now and have a safe flight. We're almost ready for Halloween.
So glad you enjoyed the Pumpkin carving. It is fun. Purrs...Queen Mimi

Hi Mischief & family!
According to the weather report this morning, today is supposed to be our last day in the nineties. It’s also very dry and windy, so there’s a high fire danger alert. But by Wednesday the temps will drop twenty degrees. Maybe it’s finally time to get the ole electric blankets back out.

Our pawrents took Callie and me for our walk in the stroller. The walking trail was deserted. We haven’t seen any deer for quite a while, but we still leave water in the bucket for any animals that might be thirsty.

Mom and Dad went grocery shopping and Petco shopping today! Whoo hoo! We all got treats and some little catnip stuffed pumpkin toys to bat around. Now it’s time for a relaxing Sunday catnap!

Well, at least your pawrents had a nice lunch! My pawrents are just like yours. No more vacations for them. They don't have anyone they trust to take care of us either. When our GP died a few years ago, my Mom did get a pet sitter for 2 days, but she was so worried, she sent our Dad back home early to be with us. My Mom always says it was much easier going on vacation when they had dogs because they would just take them on vacation with them, or drive the dogs to San Diego to stay with her family down there. As you know, cats don't travel easily! My Mom still has to make trips to San Diego to visit GM, but she goes alone now. She trusts our Dad to take care of us.

Take care dear furiend. We'll sure keep Felix in our prayers. Your whole family too!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief and family!
We had a house full of company today, so my fursisters and I have been hiding out upstairs all day. No fun at all. My Mom is promising to go to Petco tomorrow, so we’re holding her to that. I’ve got my long list ready to go!

You know, my Mom never logs out of CC either and she always has to log in the morning. Mom is still having some computer issues when using CC, but she thinks it's her Safari Browser. So she installed the new Google Chrome Browser and so far, so good. We're getting real tired of all these computer issues!

Oh poor Felix. Taking any medicine is never fun. We'll sure keep Felix in our prayers. We hope the chicken flavor helps it go down easier. Your Mom and Dad are real angels!

Rain? What's that? MOL! We hope it doesn't cause any problems for you guys yet. We're hoping to have cooler weather by next week. Right now we are still in the mid to high 80's!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. Give all your family big hugs for us sweetie.

Hi Mischief & family!
Yippee! CatChannel is back and so far so good. I told my Mom not to ever log out of CC again. MOL!

We have a lot of catching up to do. We are all doing fine, pretty much of the same ole routine. Callie and I are napping outside. Our temperatures have been in the low 80’s with one last heat wave expected next Monday. But it sure has been chilly in the morning when Callie and I go for our stroller walks with my Mom. Mom put an extra blanket inside for us to snuggle.

Whitey and Orangie are doing fine too, sleeping in the upstairs bedroom window, enjoying the sun. Our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear are getting closer to becoming inside cats with the neighbor next door. Mom had them both inside the neighbor’s house yesterday for a couple of hours. Ebony surprised Mom by using the kitty litter box. The neighbor’s Mother will be moving into the house at the end of this month, so my Mom is going to keep taking the two cats over every day to get used to their new home. In the meantime, Ebony and Sugar Bear are still sleeping in our backyard at night, and they catnap in the front yard during the day.

We hope you are all doing well dear furiend. Give your Mom and Dad big hugs for us!

We sure did miss all our furiends. It’s good to be back!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

It's pawsome to be back on CC...
which means we can pounce by to visit all of our pawsome furiends again too! We've missed all of you terribly this week & thank those of you that pounced by our forum (http://catmewsroom.freeforums.net) to visit & leave comments. Since it's all decked out for Halloween so we hope none of the spiders or other creepy crawlies caused you too much grief...MOL!

We've been bouncing off the walls (literally) all week so have been driving mom a bit batty....err I mean battier...MOL! Between us & two teens in the house it gets a bit overwhelming at times. Tomorrow baby Risten will be here again while big sis & hubby go to the Mississinewa 1812 battle reenactment/festival. Not sure how long they'll stay if the weather is still as cool & damp as it's been all week but it will be the last one they go to for a while. Needless to say mom jumped at the chance to watch Risten again but I hope she knows that means that most of her kitties will be scarce until he leaves! Too noisy & wriggly for my taste...MOL!

Well got to run because mom promised big sis she'd make a mayonnaise cake for them to snack on while they're here tomorrow. We'll be back to regular blogging again next week so will meow at you then.

it's
nice out there now 47 and likely might fall a little bit more before janet leaves for work this morning. it was okay yester-day although was still raining lightly and had stopped way be-fore she got out of work minus stupid mist showers some pretty heavy on her way home from work as other areas were dry already!
then changed she and nat were off to the bank, wally world, aldi's and then to set master's phone straight as a new phone card has to be bought every month for unlimited talking $45 per wack and that tend to get expensive, but has to be done. then grocery shopping and home after that. then a call for a reminder about her physical which she swore she was told was on wednesday the entire time and is actually monday at 8:30 so better to get it done/out of the way first thing. she did get 2 walks in the other day (wed) when the rain stopped then started again around 10pm and we got just shy of 1" and more rain coming in tomorrow so there goes further plans she had for a long distance walk which now is set for sunday mor-ning into the upper to middle part of west st. block which will leave the entire thing or the middle/lower part which she did once last year. she's got some good pictures to take and knows by that time many of the nice colorful trees will already have dropped leaves as some have now done and she missed it due to work or the weather...but then again you can't have everything, right? well clouding up this after-noon so at least it should be a bit warmer than it was yes-terday when it stayed cloudy till sunset! sandy,ab,haley, angels

Hi Mischief & family!
Aargh! Try as we may, we had an awful time trying to get on CC all day yesterday! We sure were sad to miss out on Queen Mimi’s Coronation and saying farewell to Queen Lil’ Bear, but every once and awhile, we made it successfully onto CC and tried to leave messages as fast as my paws could cut and paste! We did get to read about the lovely Coronation and how beautiful all our furiends looked dressed in their elegant finery.

K. Pete organized the Royal Feline Squadron together for a spectacular Royal Air Show. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, be sure to go back and read about it at the Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Page (271826). Talley and I were so honored to be a part of the amazing show. It ended with the Angel Squadron flying in the Missing Man Formation and Angel Mallow peeling off and climbing out of sight in her Eclipse Jet. With the strains of Amazing Grace playing in the background, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.

We are having the same problems with CC today, but not as bad. We’re trying to catch up on the blogs from yesterday & today, so we apologize if we miss anyone. We’re all doing fine. The weather is warming up and it’s supposed to be very windy. A high fire danger alert has been posted around our area.

The outside kitties are doing fine. As soon as the sun gets too warm, Mom brings Callie and me inside and lets Ebony and Sugar Bear have the backyard. It stays shady in the backyard as the day goes on and Mom keeps ice in the water bowls.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Cats as Humanitarians -

Humans have a very tenuous hold on reality and it is up to the cats to help them maintain their grasp on said reality. For instance, humans often speak to imaginary friends while holding a small object up to their ear, with no other humans in sight, obviously losing touch with the real world! A cat must put a stop to this as quickly as possible! Climb on the human and get your face right up in theirs and meow very loudly until the human acknowledges you, therefore bringing them back to reality. If that fails, you can use the top of your head to try and knock the small object out of their hand/away from their ear, which almost always succeeds in stopping their talking to thin air.

Hi Mischief & family!
Happy Monday! Another late start for my Mom and me. She is spending way too much time with our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear! But my Mom tells me it won’t be for long. Hopefully by the middle of October, Ebony and Sugar will be living in their new furever home next door.

Callie and I went for our morning cat stroller walk this morning. The weather is very mild today, only in the 70’s, but by Wednesday we are expected to have another heat wave in the high nineties. Hopefully that’ll be the last one.

Whitey and Orangie are catnapping in the new cat tree in the computer room. I thought the new cat tree was a present for me?! Humph! I guess you snooze, you lose! We’ll see about that. Right now I’m trying to stare down Whitey and Orangie, giving them the “Evie Eye”! MOL! (If you know K. Hi Mischief & family!
Sorry we didn’t make it by yesterday. The FedEx truck dropped off the two cat trees my Mom ordered for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new adopted house. Mom had to assemble some of the pieces, but under our watchful eyes, she finally got it right. Callie and I even tried them out, but Mom told us they’re not for us and she stored them in the garage for now. Mom did order us a small cat tree for our computer room, so we can help her do our CC blogs without always sitting on her lap. MOL!

Guess what sweetie? My Mom tried putting some cat nip in Ebony and Sugar Bear's cathouse that we have in the front yard and both cats seem very curious now. Sugar Bear kept poking her head inside the house and Ebony laid by the door. Yay! Baby steps.

The neighbor who will be adopting them has come over several times to sit with Mom and talk while Ebony and Sugar Bear are in the backyard. Mom still locks them up there in the evening. Today the neighbor will be bringing his Mother over for a visit. We haven't met her yet. She still lives somewhere else, but will be moving in soon with her son. We'll let you know how it goes. Mom did get to see the inside of the neighbor's house. It is very neat and sparse. Plenty of room for a couple of cats. Mom says the neighbor's house is furnished like you would imagine a man living alone would look. He is extremely neat and tidy, so that's good.

We hope your Mom hears from Wag and Whiskers soon! Give your pawrents big hugs for us sweetie.

Thanks for the suggestion to add some catnip to Ebony & Sugar Bear's cathouse! I looked at my Mom and meowed,"Duh Mom!" MOL! Sometimes it takes the old girl a little while! When Mom was at Petco, she bought 2 cans of catnip. I told her to just use a little bit. That's my catnip! MOL!

Well our rain came and went in a day, and our temps are in the high 70’s, expected to warm up each day. We got less than 1/2 inch of rain yesterday, but we’re not complaining.

Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller this morning. We haven’t seen any deer for a while, but we still leave water in the bucket every morning. It was very quiet on the trail today.

It’s a quiet day too at our house. Callie and I are sunning in the backyard. A hummingbird came awfully close to us while were napping, but that mean Mom of ours saw it through the back kitchen window, tapped loud on the glass and scared it away. Aw Mom!

Whitey and Orangie are upstairs catnapping in the bedroom window and Ebony and Sugar Bear are napping on top of their cathouse in the front yard. My Mom ordered two cat trees for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new home. They should be delivered here tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend and we hope you were able to attend the Castle Board Games pawty today! I still have my catbucks in my pocket, in case there any more card games going on in the back rooms tonight. MOL!

Cat Toys -

Any small item is a potential toy. If a human tries to confiscate it, this means that it is a good toy. Run with it under the bed. Look suitably outraged when the human grabs you and takes it away. Always watch where it is put so you can steal it later. Two reliable sources of toys are dresser tops and wastebaskets. There are several types of cat toys.

Bright shiny things like keys, brooches, or coins should be hidden so that the other cat(s) or humans can't play with them. They are generally good for playing hockey with on uncarpeted floors.

And who can resist a paper bag? Within paper bags dwell the bag mice. They are small and camouflaged to be the same color as the bag, so they are hard to see. But you can easily hear the crinkling noises they make as they scurry around the bag. Anything, up to and including shredding the bag, can be done to kill them. Note: any other cat you may find in a bag, hunting for bag mice is fair game for a sneak attack, which will usually result in a great game of tag!

Happy Friday dear furiends
Can this possibly be late September? At a time when our average high usually struggles to reach 73, we are in store for an above average, dry, beautiful weekend & for that matter, most of next week! Our high today is supposed to reach 79 with some places hitting the 80 degree mark. The calendar says autumn, but this will be a late August-like next several days...& we'll take it without one single meow of complaint...MOL!

5 out of 6 of us are being super speedy through the house as we race each other with Patches watching from Risten's port-a-crib each time we go by. I'm just waiting for her to start waving a caution flag since we keep bumping into & under it...although she started out as our pace cat earlier so can't complain too much...MOL!
Piglet & Sneakers are having another growing spurt this week. Pretty soon they'll be bigger than me or Trixie if they don't stop! I doubt they'll ever catch up to Fluffinella or Patchy but that doesn't mean they don't have a large catitude...MOL! Sneakers has been fascinated with the bathtub this week so any time someone goes into the bathroom they have to get her out & close the door or else she's knocking all kinds of things into the tub so she can play. Piglet hates water so she avoids it but she's being ornery by pouncing & wrestling Fluffinella, or by pouncing at mom & dad's legs as they pass by wherever she's hiding. Q Trixie (never to be outdone) has been chasing moths, climbing walls & being a total maniac herself. Hmph...well it's a good thing I'm a calm kitty or mom would be bonkers by now. What? You don't believe me? (innocent look) I'd never get the kittens wound up by pouncing out at them when they run by & I know I'd never attack Q Trixie's tail when she's asleep on the cat tree. Oh gee...mom is rolling her eyes. Guess she's seen through my innocent look after all...MOL!

Well got to run so mom can get that noisy sweeper monster fed since baby Risten will be here all day with us tomorrow. Have a purrfect weekend everyfur & I'll meow at you at least one more time next week before I turn the blogging over to one of my sisters.

Hugs & kisses,

Hi Mischief & family!
Our Mom made a trip to Petco today. Yay! She had two five dollar off coupons and a coupon for 10 percent off her total purchase. My sisters and I were up all night putting together our wish list. When she got home, we helped her unload everything and lo and behold, Mom had got everything on our list!

And more good mews! We got rain this morning! Not just a light drizzle, but real raindrops were falling from 4 a.m. until 8 o’clock this morning. My Mom said she could see the trees in the yard come back to life! MOL! The yard looked very happy.

Since Callie and I couldn’t go outside anyway, Mom left Ebony and Sugar Bear in the backyard so they could stay dry inside the doghouse until it stopped raining. Ebony and Sugar Bear have a cathouse in the front yard, but Mom hasn’t seem them go inside the house yet. They are always sitting on top of the house. Mom is hoping they figure it out someday. Hopefully they won’t need to. :)

Give your Mom and Dad big hugs for us. We love you sweetie!

Cat Speak -

Humans will sometimes try to speak in cat language, attempting to 'meow' at you while having no real idea what they're saying! Cats can either meow back and try and fool the human into thinking that there is a real connection going on, or they can stare at the human with a puzzled look on their face...after all, the human just told you that your mother was the strumpet of every tomcat in town! (Pardon the language!) Did they mean to say that or did they simply not understand the implications of their attempting to meow? It's hard to say, as the level of human advancement in this area is very limited...about the only 'catspeak' they actually understand is "I'm starving" and "Let me out...NOW!" If they have truly insulted you or your family, feel free to either tell them how stupid they are in cat language or walk away indignantly.

Hi Mischief & family! Whiskers here again!
We forgot to comment on your very cool sliding glass door with the kitty door. We just have a kitty door in our screen door. It swings back and forth and Mom slips a plastic panel in it to lock it. The funny thing is, Whitey and Orangie watch me and Callie walk through the swinging door every day, but neither of them has ever been brave enough to try it. Mom hopes someday they do, so they can explore the backyard. I'm pretty happy the way it is now. I guess I'm not big on sharing. MOL!

Hi Mischief & family!
Your Dad and my Dad sound a lot alike. My Dad gets so disgusted with the government's convoluted bureaucracy. We wish both our Dads would run for office. MOL! I don't think they'd be too happy.:(

Glad to hear Felix is doing so well sweetie. We'll sure keep him in our prayers.

Our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear are getting really good now at eating dinner in the backyard and settling down nicely to sleep there at night. Every morning when Callie and I get to go in the backyard, we have all kinds of interesting scents to explore. Mom says we look like we’re saying, “Who’s been sleeping in my yard?” MOL!

The neighbor who is interested in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear came over to visit last night. Mom had just finished feeding the two cats and locked them in the yard. Mom took her neighbor in the backyard to sit on the deck while they chatted. Ebony and Sugar Bear were inside the doghouse, where Sugar Bear kept peeking her head out to look.

The neighbor is a very nice, soft-spoken man. His family is originally from India but most of them have lived in the U.S. for many years. He invited Mom to visit his house and has asked her if she would help buy whatever the cats will need. Mom was happy to accept. (Mom was on the internet all night, ordering cat stuff from her favorite cat stores. She better get us something too!:)

My Mom will help get the cats adjusted to their new home when the time comes. She still needs to meet the neighbor’s Mother. My Mom made very sure her neighbor understands that if for any reason it doesn’t work out, Ebony and Sugar Bear always have a home here with us.

While they were sitting in the backyard talking, Sugar Bear ran out of the doghouse to grab her Cosmic Catnip banana, do a quick bunny kick on the ground and ran back inside the doghouse. The neighbor had a good laugh! My Mom knew Sugar Bear would be easy to adjust. It’s Ebony that will take a little work. Baby steps!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

The Eternal Question -

When faced with the age-old question, "Is it love, or is it Fancy Feast?", we all know that it is Fancy Feast, of course. However, it is absolutely crucial that cats not let the humans know this, or the humans might stop sharing this treat with us! Always convince the human that your sudden, intense attention showered on them is LOVE! You can go back to normal behavior after the treat has been consumed!

Hi Mischief & family! Whiskers here again!
My silly fable for today got off from my previous blog! I wanted to leave you with a smile dear furiend!

Aesop’s Cat Fable: THE MICE IN COUNCIL
~~~~~
Once upon a time all the Mice met together in Council, and discussed the best means of securing themselves against the attacks of the cat. After several suggestions had been debated, a Mouse of some standing and experience got up and said, "I think I have hit upon a plan which will ensure our safety in the future, provided you approve and carry it out. It is that we should fasten a bell round the neck of our enemy the cat, which will by its tinkling warn us of her approach."
This proposal was warmly applauded, and it had been already decided to adopt it, when an old Mouse got upon his feet and said, "I agree with you all that the plan before us is an admirable one: but may I ask who is going to bell the cat?"
The mice looked at one another and nobody spoke. Then the old mouse said: "It is easy to propose impossible remedies." =^.^=
Hi Mischief & family!
That's a great idea your Dad has to build a pipeline from the Mississippi River to GA, AZ, and CA! Why don't we have smart politicians in office like him?! Yes, so many of the reservoirs out here are very, very low. It's very scary. The water company asked us all to cut back on water consumption by 20 percent, and on our last water bill, it showed we've cut back by 32 percent! Now if only more people would try harder. My Mom still carries her 2 gallons of water to the creek every morning. That's not much and the bucket is always empty. Poor animals must be suffering.:(
We're so happy to hear Felix is doing better. I bet he didn't appreciate smelling like mothballs! We have him in our prayers dear furiend.
A neighbor of ours has expressed an interest in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear for his Mother. He has lived by himself, next door to us for over 20 years. His Mom will be moving in with him next month. She lives alone right now and he worries about her as she gets older. Even though they have been our neighbors for many years, my pawrents only know the man well enough to say hello every day and have watched his house on occasion when he’s away.
The neighbor came over to our house for advice on how to go about getting a pet, since he’s never had one of his own. He told my Mom he used to always see her walking her dogs and now always sees cats sitting in the windows. So Mom told him the story of how Ebony and Sugar Bear came to be here. It sounds very promising and Mom is hopeful. She would love to see Ebony and Sugar Bear become indoor cats.
We’ll see what happens. In the meantime, both cats are doing fine sleeping in the backyard at night, but happy when Mom lets them outside in the morning.
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
