About Me

Active within 1 Day

Hi! My name is Mischief - Praying for the sick and the lost!

I am Domestic Longhair from Crossville, TN

Nicknames: Mishy, Pretty Girl, Piggy

Age: 4 years old

Gender: F

Coat: long haired

Education: Mischief has begun visiting the local nursing home as a therapy cat. She is not certified, yet, but it's not required there. Everyone loves her!

Got her first COTD/CROTD badges on 8/7/12

She became Duchess of Dashingness by winning the ladies competition of the Magnificent Tail Contest on 8/11/12.

My favorite tricks and treats are: She can jump really high when going after Da Bird, or a fly! and She will eat Temptations once in awhile, but she's not excited about treats. Once in awhile, she'll eat Friskies Party Mix out of my hand.

Where I hang out: She loves to sit on either of the towers, or on the window perch. She also like to sit in my bedroom window and watch the birds in the trees.

My favorite grubs: She loves any and all wet food, to the point that she tries to steal everyone elses.

My pet peeves: Not being able to go outside without a harness and leash.
Not being allowed to eat my fursibs food, cuz I want it all!

What I love about my owners: She and Dad made me a part of the family and I have a bigger place to roam around in. I also have many windows to look out of and see all the birds and other critters. They found a good place for my littermates to go.

My cat hobbies: Eat! Run through the house and play with Da Bird and other string or wand toys and sometimes my fursibs. Mom now takes me out in the front yard in the morning, so I can smell the grass, maybe eat a blade or two and chase bugs! Eat!

Pet motto: She doesn't have one, yet.

How We Met

A family was evicted from the mobile home park next door and they had to leave 5 cats behind. My husband and I took care of them for 3 days until animal control could come and collect them. We fell in love with Mischief and brought her home. The others went to an organization called A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin') where they will be cared for until homes are found for them. They are a no-kill organization. We learned just this week (July, 2012) that all of her siblings have been adopted!

Hi Mischief & family!
Happy Monday! Another late start for my Mom and me. She is spending way too much time with our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear! But my Mom tells me it won’t be for long. Hopefully by the middle of October, Ebony and Sugar will be living in their new furever home next door.

Callie and I went for our morning cat stroller walk this morning. The weather is very mild today, only in the 70’s, but by Wednesday we are expected to have another heat wave in the high nineties. Hopefully that’ll be the last one.

Whitey and Orangie are catnapping in the new cat tree in the computer room. I thought the new cat tree was a present for me?! Humph! I guess you snooze, you lose! We’ll see about that. Right now I’m trying to stare down Whitey and Orangie, giving them the “Evie Eye”! MOL! (If you know K. Mike and his fursister Evie, you’ll KNOW what the “Evie Eye” is, and why my sisters should be very afraid!)

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We love you guys. Big hugs to your pawrents too.

and I will become
as generous and loving as they are.”

Hi Mischief & family!
Sorry we didn’t make it by yesterday. The FedEx truck dropped off the two cat trees my Mom ordered for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new adopted house. Mom had to assemble some of the pieces, but under our watchful eyes, she finally got it right. Callie and I even tried them out, but Mom told us they’re not for us and she stored them in the garage for now. Mom did order us a small cat tree for our computer room, so we can help her do our CC blogs without always sitting on her lap. MOL!

Guess what sweetie? My Mom tried putting some cat nip in Ebony and Sugar Bear's cathouse that we have in the front yard and both cats seem very curious now. Sugar Bear kept poking her head inside the house and Ebony laid by the door. Yay! Baby steps.

The neighbor who will be adopting them has come over several times to sit with Mom and talk while Ebony and Sugar Bear are in the backyard. Mom still locks them up there in the evening. Today the neighbor will be bringing his Mother over for a visit. We haven't met her yet. She still lives somewhere else, but will be moving in soon with her son. We'll let you know how it goes. Mom did get to see the inside of the neighbor's house. It is very neat and sparse. Plenty of room for a couple of cats. Mom says the neighbor's house is furnished like you would imagine a man living alone would look. He is extremely neat and tidy, so that's good.

We hope your Mom hears from Wag and Whiskers soon! Give your pawrents big hugs for us sweetie.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

On the Catpaign Trail...Day 28
A while back there was a feral colony living under our house. Mom took one of the cats, a 15 year old girl, to the vet with a UTI. Picture this, the cat is old, sick, and in pain. Dumb vet tech sticks her arm in the carrier to pull Duster out and got bit. Mom had told the girl to dump the carrier. Same old story. State Health Dept, quarantine. This time Duster was allowed to stay home. This was a different vet clinic. State said to post the property. Photos are signs that are still here today. To be Cont......

Hi Mischief & family!
Thanks for the suggestion to add some catnip to Ebony & Sugar Bear's cathouse! I looked at my Mom and meowed,"Duh Mom!" MOL! Sometimes it takes the old girl a little while! When Mom was at Petco, she bought 2 cans of catnip. I told her to just use a little bit. That's my catnip! MOL!

We have Shorty in prayers sweetie. We hope your Mom hears from 'Wags & Whiskers' soon. Give everyone big hugs for us.

Well our rain came and went in a day, and our temps are in the high 70’s, expected to warm up each day. We got less than 1/2 inch of rain yesterday, but we’re not complaining.

Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller this morning. We haven’t seen any deer for a while, but we still leave water in the bucket every morning. It was very quiet on the trail today.

It’s a quiet day too at our house. Callie and I are sunning in the backyard. A hummingbird came awfully close to us while were napping, but that mean Mom of ours saw it through the back kitchen window, tapped loud on the glass and scared it away. Aw Mom!

Whitey and Orangie are upstairs catnapping in the bedroom window and Ebony and Sugar Bear are napping on top of their cathouse in the front yard. My Mom ordered two cat trees for Ebony & Sugar Bear’s new home. They should be delivered here tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend and we hope you were able to attend the Castle Board Games pawty today! I still have my catbucks in my pocket, in case there any more card games going on in the back rooms tonight. MOL!

Cat Toys -

Any small item is a potential toy. If a human tries to confiscate it, this means that it is a good toy. Run with it under the bed. Look suitably outraged when the human grabs you and takes it away. Always watch where it is put so you can steal it later. Two reliable sources of toys are dresser tops and wastebaskets. There are several types of cat toys.

Bright shiny things like keys, brooches, or coins should be hidden so that the other cat(s) or humans can't play with them. They are generally good for playing hockey with on uncarpeted floors.

And who can resist a paper bag? Within paper bags dwell the bag mice. They are small and camouflaged to be the same color as the bag, so they are hard to see. But you can easily hear the crinkling noises they make as they scurry around the bag. Anything, up to and including shredding the bag, can be done to kill them. Note: any other cat you may find in a bag, hunting for bag mice is fair game for a sneak attack, which will usually result in a great game of tag!

Happy Friday dear furiends
Can this possibly be late September? At a time when our average high usually struggles to reach 73, we are in store for an above average, dry, beautiful weekend & for that matter, most of next week! Our high today is supposed to reach 79 with some places hitting the 80 degree mark. The calendar says autumn, but this will be a late August-like next several days...& we'll take it without one single meow of complaint...MOL!

5 out of 6 of us are being super speedy through the house as we race each other with Patches watching from Risten's port-a-crib each time we go by. I'm just waiting for her to start waving a caution flag since we keep bumping into & under it...although she started out as our pace cat earlier so can't complain too much...MOL!
Piglet & Sneakers are having another growing spurt this week. Pretty soon they'll be bigger than me or Trixie if they don't stop! I doubt they'll ever catch up to Fluffinella or Patchy but that doesn't mean they don't have a large catitude...MOL! Sneakers has been fascinated with the bathtub this week so any time someone goes into the bathroom they have to get her out & close the door or else she's knocking all kinds of things into the tub so she can play. Piglet hates water so she avoids it but she's being ornery by pouncing & wrestling Fluffinella, or by pouncing at mom & dad's legs as they pass by wherever she's hiding. Q Trixie (never to be outdone) has been chasing moths, climbing walls & being a total maniac herself. Hmph...well it's a good thing I'm a calm kitty or mom would be bonkers by now. What? You don't believe me? (innocent look) I'd never get the kittens wound up by pouncing out at them when they run by & I know I'd never attack Q Trixie's tail when she's asleep on the cat tree. Oh gee...mom is rolling her eyes. Guess she's seen through my innocent look after all...MOL!

Well got to run so mom can get that noisy sweeper monster fed since baby Risten will be here all day with us tomorrow. Have a purrfect weekend everyfur & I'll meow at you at least one more time next week before I turn the blogging over to one of my sisters.

Hugs & kisses,

Hi Mischief & family!
Our Mom made a trip to Petco today. Yay! She had two five dollar off coupons and a coupon for 10 percent off her total purchase. My sisters and I were up all night putting together our wish list. When she got home, we helped her unload everything and lo and behold, Mom had got everything on our list!

And more good mews! We got rain this morning! Not just a light drizzle, but real raindrops were falling from 4 a.m. until 8 o’clock this morning. My Mom said she could see the trees in the yard come back to life! MOL! The yard looked very happy.

Since Callie and I couldn’t go outside anyway, Mom left Ebony and Sugar Bear in the backyard so they could stay dry inside the doghouse until it stopped raining. Ebony and Sugar Bear have a cathouse in the front yard, but Mom hasn’t seem them go inside the house yet. They are always sitting on top of the house. Mom is hoping they figure it out someday. Hopefully they won’t need to. :)

Give your Mom and Dad big hugs for us. We love you sweetie!

Cat Speak -

Humans will sometimes try to speak in cat language, attempting to 'meow' at you while having no real idea what they're saying! Cats can either meow back and try and fool the human into thinking that there is a real connection going on, or they can stare at the human with a puzzled look on their face...after all, the human just told you that your mother was the strumpet of every tomcat in town! (Pardon the language!) Did they mean to say that or did they simply not understand the implications of their attempting to meow? It's hard to say, as the level of human advancement in this area is very limited...about the only 'catspeak' they actually understand is "I'm starving" and "Let me out...NOW!" If they have truly insulted you or your family, feel free to either tell them how stupid they are in cat language or walk away indignantly.

Hi Mischief & family! Whiskers here again!
We forgot to comment on your very cool sliding glass door with the kitty door. We just have a kitty door in our screen door. It swings back and forth and Mom slips a plastic panel in it to lock it. The funny thing is, Whitey and Orangie watch me and Callie walk through the swinging door every day, but neither of them has ever been brave enough to try it. Mom hopes someday they do, so they can explore the backyard. I'm pretty happy the way it is now. I guess I'm not big on sharing. MOL!

Meow Happy Birthday to your Auntie dear furiend. Don't worry about blogging tonight. Let your pawrents relax.:)

Hi Mischief & family!
Your Dad and my Dad sound a lot alike. My Dad gets so disgusted with the government's convoluted bureaucracy. We wish both our Dads would run for office. MOL! I don't think they'd be too happy.:(

Glad to hear Felix is doing so well sweetie. We'll sure keep him in our prayers.

Our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear are getting really good now at eating dinner in the backyard and settling down nicely to sleep there at night. Every morning when Callie and I get to go in the backyard, we have all kinds of interesting scents to explore. Mom says we look like we’re saying, “Who’s been sleeping in my yard?” MOL!

The neighbor who is interested in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear came over to visit last night. Mom had just finished feeding the two cats and locked them in the yard. Mom took her neighbor in the backyard to sit on the deck while they chatted. Ebony and Sugar Bear were inside the doghouse, where Sugar Bear kept peeking her head out to look.

The neighbor is a very nice, soft-spoken man. His family is originally from India but most of them have lived in the U.S. for many years. He invited Mom to visit his house and has asked her if she would help buy whatever the cats will need. Mom was happy to accept. (Mom was on the internet all night, ordering cat stuff from her favorite cat stores. She better get us something too!:)

My Mom will help get the cats adjusted to their new home when the time comes. She still needs to meet the neighbor’s Mother. My Mom made very sure her neighbor understands that if for any reason it doesn’t work out, Ebony and Sugar Bear always have a home here with us.

While they were sitting in the backyard talking, Sugar Bear ran out of the doghouse to grab her Cosmic Catnip banana, do a quick bunny kick on the ground and ran back inside the doghouse. The neighbor had a good laugh! My Mom knew Sugar Bear would be easy to adjust. It’s Ebony that will take a little work. Baby steps!

The Eternal Question -

When faced with the age-old question, "Is it love, or is it Fancy Feast?", we all know that it is Fancy Feast, of course. However, it is absolutely crucial that cats not let the humans know this, or the humans might stop sharing this treat with us! Always convince the human that your sudden, intense attention showered on them is LOVE! You can go back to normal behavior after the treat has been consumed!

Hi Mischief & family! Whiskers here again!
My silly fable for today got off from my previous blog! I wanted to leave you with a smile dear furiend!

Aesop’s Cat Fable: THE MICE IN COUNCIL
~~~~~
Once upon a time all the Mice met together in Council, and discussed the best means of securing themselves against the attacks of the cat. After several suggestions had been debated, a Mouse of some standing and experience got up and said, "I think I have hit upon a plan which will ensure our safety in the future, provided you approve and carry it out. It is that we should fasten a bell round the neck of our enemy the cat, which will by its tinkling warn us of her approach."
This proposal was warmly applauded, and it had been already decided to adopt it, when an old Mouse got upon his feet and said, "I agree with you all that the plan before us is an admirable one: but may I ask who is going to bell the cat?"
The mice looked at one another and nobody spoke. Then the old mouse said: "It is easy to propose impossible remedies." =^.^=
Hi Mischief & family!
That's a great idea your Dad has to build a pipeline from the Mississippi River to GA, AZ, and CA! Why don't we have smart politicians in office like him?! Yes, so many of the reservoirs out here are very, very low. It's very scary. The water company asked us all to cut back on water consumption by 20 percent, and on our last water bill, it showed we've cut back by 32 percent! Now if only more people would try harder. My Mom still carries her 2 gallons of water to the creek every morning. That's not much and the bucket is always empty. Poor animals must be suffering.:(
We're so happy to hear Felix is doing better. I bet he didn't appreciate smelling like mothballs! We have him in our prayers dear furiend.
A neighbor of ours has expressed an interest in adopting Ebony and Sugar Bear for his Mother. He has lived by himself, next door to us for over 20 years. His Mom will be moving in with him next month. She lives alone right now and he worries about her as she gets older. Even though they have been our neighbors for many years, my pawrents only know the man well enough to say hello every day and have watched his house on occasion when he’s away.
The neighbor came over to our house for advice on how to go about getting a pet, since he’s never had one of his own. He told my Mom he used to always see her walking her dogs and now always sees cats sitting in the windows. So Mom told him the story of how Ebony and Sugar Bear came to be here. It sounds very promising and Mom is hopeful. She would love to see Ebony and Sugar Bear become indoor cats.
We’ll see what happens. In the meantime, both cats are doing fine sleeping in the backyard at night, but happy when Mom lets them outside in the morning.
Hi Mischief & family!
We forgot to tell you yesterday how lovely your new fall profile picture is. You are such a stunning kitty!
We're glad to hear Felix is feeling better. It's a good your Mom is keeping inside him for a few days. (Except to do his business of course!) We have him in our prayers sweetie.
Enjoy your nice weather dear furiend. Too bad it can't stay that way. We hope your Mom can get just a little bit more rain to water her plants. Give everyone big hugs for us.
Callie and I went for our walk with Mom this morning in our cat stroller and we saw our yippy/yappy doggie furiend. Him and his human pass by us very quickly on the trail now. I guess they don’t like cats in a stroller. MOL!
Ebony and Sugar Bear spent the night again in the backyard. It was easy for Mom to coax them into the backyard through the garage. Once they hear the can of cat food opening, they run right in.
Sorry for the rush, but that Mom of mine is running late today. I’ll try to get her back on schedule tomorrow.:)
It's a sunny but chilly day at the NICE home....
Hi Mischief & family,
It's only 55 degrees right now with a predicted high of 64. HEY...autumn is supposed to officially arrive tomorrow so what's the scoop on such cool temps? Geesh...summer was a bust for us this year with cooler than average temps & lots of rain so hopefully we'll get a pawsome Indian Summer to make up for it. Our leaves are already changing from green to their fall colors, the fields are turning their golden 'harvest me soon' colors & wooly worms seem to be everywhere you look. It gets us in the mood for our 'Glory of Autumn' pawty tomorrow at the Cat's Meow Resort & Event Center #271826 though! We'll arrive early to decorate & the pawty will go on all day (no live blogging) so stop in whenever you can & join in the fun! We'll be bobbing for apples, having an archery contest where we'll shoot our plastic arrows into bales of straw, a scarecrow decorating event, & lots of other crafts & games for everyone to do. Hope to see you there with a costume or fall colored outfit on!
Not much blogging time today since mom wants to torture us with the sweeper monster's roar so will leave you a catmint mice cream cone (it's also Ice Cream Cone day), my sweetest kisses & a vote filled with grasshoppers.
Hi Mischief & family!
We're happy to hear Felix is feeling a little better. That's so cute that he washed your head for you. How adorable. Tell Felix we have him in our prayers sweetie.
The Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser sounds like it was delicious! We hope your pawrents helped raise a lot of money. Your Mom's '65 Chevy sounds really cool. At least it's safe in the garage until it gets restored. How fun that will be!
Callie and I got to spend most of the day yesterday enjoying our backyard. We checked out all the strange cat smells, and they were everywhere! It took a while for Callie and me to finally settle down. Mom always makes us come in at night though, so when she shooed us inside, she opened the garage door to feed our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar Bear. They were in the front yard lying down and came running. But this time, Mom opened the small garage door that leads to the backyard to see if the two cats would follow her. As soon as they heard the can of cat food pop open, they came running. Hooray! Mom shut them in the backyard and sat with them while they ate. Both cats seemed perfectly happy staying the night in the backyard. This just might work.
It’s another sunny day in the low 80’s today. Callie and I are out on the deck, Whitey and Orangie are in the window and Ebony and Sugar Bear are sleeping on top of their new cathouse in the front yard. A nice relaxing Sunday!
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers and something to make you laugh or groan. :)
Hearing that the Birds in an aviary were ill, a Cat went to them and said that he was a physician, and would cure them if they would let him in.
"To what school of medicine do you belong?" asked the Birds.
"I am a Miaulopathist," said the Cat.
"Did you ever practice Gohomoeopathy?" the Birds inquired, winking faintly.
The Cat took the hint and his leave. =^.^=
On the Catpaign Trail...Day 21
Some cats should be mothers and some shouldn't. Josie does not have the catmom gene. While we were in the hotel, our neighbor had to rescue little J.C. from the road where Josie had left him. Litter #2 was left in a storm and we never knew where litter #3 had been raised. Josie did feed her babies erratically. We think that she did this to relieve the milk ache rather than from a desire to nourish her offspring. She may never be a pet, but she will have a home here if she changes her mind.
Why Cats Have Fur =^.^=
~~~~~
In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth. On the fifth day he created the cat but, unlike today, the cat was without fur.

This was fine for awhile; it was cool in the summer and easy to keep clean. Plus there were no problem with hair balls.

After a while, other animals with fur started to tease this hairless creature. They would sing, "Ha, ha, the hairless cat, the hairless cat is ugly and fat!"

"Oh how beautiful the other animals are with their colorful coats of fur," thought the hairless cat.

But soon the cat forgot the taunts and was proud again, for it was beautiful in its own way.

Then winter came and it got cold. The cat tried to keep warm; he curled up under bushes and with other animals, but was not as warm as his friends.

When the cat tried to find warm places to stay, he was never able to get comfortable and was always getting bumps and scratches.

One cold night as the cat was curled up under a bush and staring at the sky, a rabbit came by.

"Why are you so sad, cat?" asked the bunny.

"I have no fur and I am ugly and cold." replied the cat.

The rabbit cuddled next to the cat and whispered to him in his ears, "If you wish on a shooting star, and believe, your wish can come true."

Just about that time a star glimmered across the sky and the cat knew what to do. The cat closed his eyes tightly and said, "I wish, I wish I had fur and also all other cats of the world had beautiful coats of fur like other animals."

The cat opened his eyes just in time to see the star vanish behind the moon.

A few seconds later the moon began to glow as brightly as the sun and cats all over the world came out of hiding to see the bright light. As the light faded, fur began to grow on the cat. Within minutes the cat and all other cats had beautiful coats of fur. Some long, some short, and of different colors. From then on, the cat was not teased or cold. And the fur also protected the cat from injuries.

This is why cats have fur.

the
doctor told us after he called natty that he agrees with the audiologist and she's NOT going crazy upstairs as we call it. she will be on new meds starting tonight as janet's got to pick up the prescription after work and has just enough of hers till wednesday, so might not pick it up till tomorrow or monday after work seeing she's working 6 straight now. her blood pressure also is sky high so now she's on additional pills to help get it down and janet's going to have to cut the salt she puts in the food to nearly nothing making it tasteless, but that should help too. as a matter of fact some eggless noodles they bought a while back were store brand and stunk as they cooked into a sticky gloppy mess while janet was out giving tomatoes the very last of them for this year to neighbors up the street seeing nobody here was eating them but her occasionally and were taking up room on the window sill as well as the shelf in the kitchen which was needed.
they did the shopping including stopping by to give some pads of paper to master and finish errands by getting things at aldi's and wally world and best buy for a ink cartridge for nat's printer which only uses black ink. was down to 40 yes-terday and guess what???? we're there again this morning for the 5th time this week! guess we're gonna continue on/off this coming week between the 60s and 70s only made it to 62 yesterday, but was warmer for a time in the sun, hot and nice for short sleeves, to cold in the shade however. janet covered up again last night not taking any chances and will continue to do so, but bring all of the stuff in if we are warmer tonight due to boomers tomorrow. sandy,ab,haley,angels

Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom let our outside fursibs, Ebony & Sugar Bear, out of the backyard this morning and they were very happy. Sugar Bear was running and playing in the front yard because that’s where all the birds in the trees like to hang out. Ebony sat on the driveway for a while and then he hopped on top of the new cathouse to lie down. Mom was very happy. Today she is leaving the main garage door open and the small door in the garage open that leads to the backyard, so she can practice chasing them into the backyard. Mom just wants them to remember it’s a safe place. Of course, Callie and I still can’t go into the backyard while all the doors are open, but we know we’ll be able to soon.

We did get a light drizzle of rain yesterday, but today the sun is back out and it’s kind of humid. Callie and I are catnapping in the bay windows and Whitey & Orangie are getting their beauty sleep in the upstairs bedroom window. It’s a quiet Friday here.
Your weather sounds perfect! Not too cold yet, and not too hot. We hope you get just enough rain to water your Mom's plants! Have a wonderful weekend!

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom was able to get Ebony into his carrier and take him to the vet today. Ebony didn’t put up a fight at the vet like last time. He growled a little, but that was it! Mom held him on the exam table while he got the rest of his shots and the vet was able to run her hands over his body to feel for any abnormalities. Ebony’s blood work came back good too. Ebony is a healthy cat! My Mom is going to keep him and Sugar Bear in the backyard for another day so they can relax after a hectic day.

I’m running late with my blogs, so I’ll meow at you again tomorrow.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

How Pussy Willows Got their Name
~~~~~
Many springtimes ago, according to an old Polish legend, tiny kittens had been chasing butterflies at the river's edge and fell in. The mother cat, helpless to save them, started crying. The willows at the river's edge swept their long graceful branches into the water - the kittens gripped on tightly to the branches and were rescued.
Each springtime since, goes the legend, willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds where the tiny kittens once clung. =^.^=
On the Catpaign Trail...Day 18
Spring 2013. Another year has rolled around and, Oh No, I am not seeing this! Oh yes I am! Here is Josie back with litter #3. They're half grown and wild as squirrels. She won't have kittens in the feral house, prefers the woods or fields. At least these look healthy. Meet Blackstone and Grayson. I'm praying to Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Animals to make this stop. To be Continued....4 photos
Hi Mischief & family!
My Mom took Callie and me for our walk this morning and we spotted two deer running through the brush. It was so nice to know they are still around. Mom always fills up the bucket by the empty creek with water and it’s always empty. So maybe the deer are drinking it!
We are actually expected to get some rain tomorrow! Whoo hoo! Only about ¼ of an inch, but we’ll take whatever we can get. My Mom is all set to take Ebony to the vet in the morning. Ebony is back to letting Mom pet him and last night he even purred while she combed his fur. Ebony really likes canned tuna, so Mom is going to use that to hopefully get him into the cat carrier without a fuss.
Whitey and Orangie are doing fine, catnapping in the upstairs bedroom window since it’s not too warm today.
We always have you and your sweet family in our prayers. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes with Ebony tomorrow. Mom was going to try wearing her long rose gardening gloves, but just seeing the gloves freaked Ebony out. Mom is hoping the canned tuna and lots of praying will do the trick!:)
We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
Why Don't Cats Wash Before They Eat?
~~~~~
As legend goes, the cat once caught a mouse and was about to eat the tasty little morsel when the mouse chided the cat for her bad manners. "What?" cried the mouse, "You're going to eat me without first washing your face and hands?"

The mortified cat immediately dropped the mouse and began washing, and the clever little mouse quickly ran away.

Ever since, cats have not washed up before dinner. =^.^=

Hi Mischief & family!
We’re expecting a day with temps in the 80’s, but this morning when our Mom took Callie and me for a walk in our cat stroller, it was actually a little chilly outside. Could autumn be on the way? We sure hope that means rain sometime soon.

My Mom put new kitty litter in all our boxes and she washed and fluff dried all our blankets and bed covers. Ummm, it feels nice to roll in the laundry basket with our blankets fresh out of the dryer.

Our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear are doing fine. My Mom is going to try to get Ebony to the vet on Thursday. Ebony seems to have forgiven Mom for now. Now Mom just needs to stay calm and not scare Ebony with her nervous vibes. MOL! Callie and I can always tell when our Mom is going to try something we don’t want. We can read her like a book. Let’s hope Ebony can’t. Keep your paws crossed.:)

We have Felix in our prayers, hoping his blood work comes back okay. We always have you, your fursibs and your sweet pawrents in our prayers.

We left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

How To Check The Weather Forecast
~~~~~
To tell the weather, go to your back door and look for the dog.
If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it's probably raining. But if the dog is standing there really soaking wet, it is probably raining really hard.
If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed the wrong way, it's probably windy.
If the dog has snow on his back, it's probably snowing.
Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather.
Sincerely, The CAT =^.^=
Hi Mischief & family!
The vacuum monster was let loose again today, so we’ve all been hiding out in the bedroom under the bed, until the monster comes in here. Then it’s every cat for himself. MOL!
The temperature outside has cooled off to the mid-eighties. Our outside fursibs, Ebony and Sugar are still in our backyard. My Mom needs to take Ebony back to see the vet sometime this week. She’s not looking forward to it, but Ebony is back to rubbing against her legs, so it looks promising.
We have our paws crossed that Felix's blood work is okay. We had a great time at Duchess's birthday pawty today. Wow! Her profile picture is beautiful! I could hardly wait to bite into the cake! MOL! It was nice to see so many of our furiends there celebrating. Duchess is loved so many and rightly so! Give your sweet Mom and Dad hugs for us dear furiend. We always have your family in our prayers.
"Cats are less loyal than dogs, but more independent." (This is code. It means: "Cats are smarter than dogs, but they hate people.") Many people love cats. From time to time, newspapers print stories about some elderly widow who died and left her entire estate, valued at $3,200,000, to her cat, Fluffkins. Cats read these stories, too, and are always plotting to get named as beneficiaries in their owners' wills. Did you ever wonder where your cat goes when it wanders off for several hours? It meets with other cats in estate-planning seminars. I just thought you should know. =^.^=
Hi Mischief & family!
It’s a quiet Sunday here today. My pawrents went to the memorial service for their friend yesterday and they told us it was sad, but beautiful. We were all very good cats while they were gone. Even Ebony and Sugar Bear were lying on top of the doghouse in the backyard, sound asleep when they got home.
We are looking forward to singing Happy Birthday to beautiful Duchess on Monday! Whoo hoo! I'll have my dancing shoes on too!
We hope you have a relaxing Sunday with your family. Give your dear Mom and Dad big hugs for us.
Not only is there always another good animal
in need of a good home,
but we must remember to be thankful
for the time and love our animals give us
while they are here.
Take time to enjoy them and learn from them.
As painful as it is to lose them,
they teach us to love unselfishly,
they teach us to live each day to the fullest,
they teach us to grow old gracefully,
and they teach us to die with dignity.
We do them disrespect
to focus only on the sorrow of their death
when they have given us so much joy through their life.
If we wish to honor them,
take what they have given us,
all that love,
and give it back to another animal
in need of help.
it's
actually clear and down into the upper 40s this morning. it didn't feel like it when janet took pepper out just before 3am this morning. anyways janet woke up due to her aching right upper arm again and was in the thros of a night sweat coming on for moving around to much which will trigger it. she also upset her system and went to have all her hair cut off short as there's a new salon opened up across from the barber shop she uses but they were backed up and only taking appts. for today, so she said she was gonna try this salon with $15 haircuts for new clients and she was impressed and quoted a price of $20 for another man type haircut as it's very short and shouldn't need to be cut again till late dec-ember or january again. she's got 2 more walks in mind for mornings before it gets to much colder and says next week she might do one of two of them as she's not walked that way be-fore but it's still in south amherst and the other route is actually closer to home, but goes into belchertown a ways and back into south amherst she really wants to do that one and likely will. we did make it up into the lower 70s, but since janet was online most of the day before and after her haircut she went bonkers! back to work through tues, then thurs next week starts 24+4 again through the holidays or till she doesn't want to work 24+4 again likely in january she'll do it for 2-3 months and come march or april back to this again for a while. we've got rain and showers for this afternoon and tonight and again on tuesday with lower to mid 60s this weekend and upper 30s to lower 40s for starts as well as some of the same temps this coming week going to the lower to upper 70s by the end of next week! sandy,ab,haley,angels
Hi Mischief & family!
We won’t be online tomorrow on Saturday. My pawrents are going to a memorial service for a friend who recently passed away. We’ll be back on Sunday.
We are having another heat wave with temps in the 90’s. It should start to cool off after today. My Mom made sure our outside fursibs Ebony and Sugar Bear have plenty of shade and cool water while they’re staying in the backyard. Ebony is just starting to forgive my Mom after his trip to the vet. Mom sits outside with them a lot. Ebony laid down by my Mom’s feet last night, just like he always used to.:)
We saw on the news about all the rain you guys are getting. We hope and pray your family safe.
You know, Callie and I get bored with some of our treats right away too, but Whitey and Orangie seem to love everything! My Dad said, just give them more time in this house and they'll be finicky soon enough. MOL! That's great that Duchess likes to eat Greenies so much. They're so good for her. Mom tried to get us to eat them, but we didn't like them. Now that you mentioned it, Mom has a couple of bags of Greenies that were never opened. She is going to try them out on Ebony and Sugar Bear! Thanks dear furiend!
Yes, my Mom is getting worried about Ebony's return visit to the vet next week, but every day she is making a little bit of progress. Mom is also a bit nervous about picking up Ebony again. After getting bit, Mom is afraid and she knows she can't exude fear when she tries again. Us cats can always sense fear as you know! We're no dummies!
I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. Give your pawrents big hugs for us too!
I believe that the loss of a beloved companion animal
is like no other loss
because our relationships with animals are like no other.
Our culture tells us that an animal companion is an engaging toy,
and that our grief over its death is alarming and ill-paced.
And our culture is just flat wrong.
As a survivor of advanced cancer myself,
I believe that the love and comfort of animals
in great measure graced me with recovery.
This being the case,
I would not be one to take kindly
to any cultural diminishment of our relationship with 'the other.'
Bluntly put, 'Them's fightin' words' in my world.
Animals are more to us than we know.
Their partnership with us is a holy one
that endures across a lifetime
and possibly beyond. =^.^=
Hi Mischief
Sunday is National Pet Memorial Day✞ a day set aside to honor our departed companions & special members of our family. As we all know, words cannot describe the sense of loss we feel when our faithful furiend dies. It is one of life's most heart-wrenching experiences. One of the things we find most helpful is knowing that we can find solace here on CC among others who share the same feelings about their lost babies as we do. For most of us, they are not pets, they are special members of our family, and many times they are our "kids".
It's so important for us to acknowledge our love for our babies and the grief we feel when they pass on. So take the day to reflect on your late furry furiends and the impact they had on your life. To celebrate this day, we have put up our angel sister Dot’s photos on the bottom of our pages. Dot was Mommy’s special girl who crossed the Bridge in October 2000 at the age of 17. Mommy still misses her very much.
Have a blessed weekend.
Love ya,
Hi Mischief & family!
I know I may make light of our canine furiends from time to time, but it’s all in good fun and I respectfully share with you a small tribute to our furry furiends.
In memory of the animals we lost that tragic day, September 11, 2001, as well as the animals who lost their owners. All are furever in our hearts. ♥
The Few, The Proud......The Dogs of 9/11
~~~~~
A quote from a ground zero witness:

“Urban Search and Rescue dogs that were deployed at Ground Zero included Australian shepherds, German shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Border Collies, Portuguese Water Dogs, Belgian Malinois, Giant Schnauzers, and even Rat Terriers. What a dog could do with its nose was invaluable in the search. What a dog could do with its heart was equally invaluable.”

The dogs were able to lift the spirits of stressed workers. Cops and firemen, as well as the handlers, took great comfort from the dogs at a time when they battled exhaustion, despair, and stress. One account states: “It was beyond amazing what a licking tongue could do to lift a crushed human spirit, restoring morale to discouraged and depressed workers at Ground Zero”
~~~~~
Most of these wonderful dogs are gone now, but a few are still with us today as we pause to remember all the victims, and all the heroes of September 11, 2001. Never has man had a truer, finer friend than a dog. Today we offer them the honor and respect they deserve. Friends. Warriors. Rescuers. God bless them all, and a prayer of thanksgiving to Him for gifting us with such wonderful creatures.
Hi Mischief & family!
Today was Petco Day and our Mom came home with everything on our list. She bought a couple of bags of some new Temptations called “Tumblers.” The bag says, “Now you can roll, toss or bounce delicious treats for your cats!” I don’t know about all of that, but we had fun eating them! Mom also got some catnip cat toys, mainly for our outside fursibs, but we got some too. Sugar Bear really loves doing the bunny-kick with her Cosmic Catnip Banana. Ebony is still aloof towards Mom after the trip to the vet, but he is slowing getting closer to her again when she sits out in the backyard with them.
Give your sweet Mom and Dad hugs for us too. We always have your family in our prayers. Another heat wave is on the way for us for the next few days. The backyard should be okay for the outside kitties. There are two shade trees out back and a small roof over half the deck. Plus Mom set up the deck umbrella and table just in case. Dad is not worried, but I know Mom is! MOL!
I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
What would I do without you,
My precious, furry friend?
Part mischief, but all blessing,
And faithful to the end!
You look at me with eyes of love;
You never hold a grudge . . .
You think I'm far too wonderful
To criticize or judge.
It seems your greatest joy in life
Is being close to me . . .
I think God knew how comforting
Your warm, soft fur would be.
I know you think you're human,
But I'm glad it isn't true . . .
The world would be a nicer place
If folks were more like you!
A few short years are all we have;
One day we'll have to part . . .
But you, my pet, will always have
A place within my heart.
Hi Mischief & family!
Callie and I were out for our stroller walk with Mom this morning. We still take water to fill up the always empty bucket by the dried up creek, but we haven’t seen any deer in a long time. The walking trail is usually deserted in the morning, but the past few days we’ve been passing a lady walking her small dog that likes to yip and yap at us. The lady scolded her dog for barking at a baby stroller, so Mom had to tell her it’s a cat stroller carrying two big cats. MOL! Now the lady and her doggie run by us. Mom has a good laugh when we see them!
Today the vacuum monster was let loose. We got a reprieve from it yesterday cuz Mom was too busy with the outside cats. So today we are all hiding out together. Whitey and Orangie are doing fine. Callie still doesn’t like them much, but Callie can pass them on the stairs without growling too much. And of course when the vacuum monster is out, we are all united as one under the bed. MOL!
Our outside fursibs are doing okay in the backyard. Ebony is still mad at Mom for taking him to the vet yesterday, but late last night before we went to bed, Ebony took a Temptation treat from Mom’s hand. Baby steps!
My Mom washed the bite on her hand with some hydrogen peroxide this morning. It already looks better. Thanks for your concern dear furiend. We're hoping your Mom can get Frosty without too much of a problem. My Mom always gets nervous a few hours before she has to get one of us in a cat carrier. My Dad always tells her to calm down, she's probably sending out scared vibes to us. MOL! Tell your Mom we have her in our prayers.
I left a vote with soft purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.
There must be a heaven
for the animal friends we love.
They are not human,
yet they bring out our own humanity ~
sometimes in ways that other people cannot.
They do not worry about fame or fortune ~
instead they bring our hearts nearer to the joy of simple things.
Each day they teach us little lessons
in trust and steadfast affection.
Whatever Heaven may be,
there's surely a place in it
