Mischief - Vote Angel Tinker #75289 daily in Sept.

About Me

Active within 1 Day

Hi! My name is Mischief - Vote Angel Tinker #75289 daily in Sept.

I am Domestic Longhair from Crossville, TN

Nicknames: Mishy, Pretty Girl, Piggy

Age: 5 years old

Gender: F

Coat: long haired

Education: Mischief has begun visiting the local nursing home as a therapy cat. She is not certified, yet, but it's not required there. Everyone loves her!

Got her first COTD/CROTD badges on 8/7/12
2nd COTD - 11/21/14

She became Duchess of Dashingness by winning the ladies competition of the Magnificent Tail Contest on 8/11/12.

My favorite tricks and treats are: She can jump really high when going after Da Bird, or a fly! and She will eat Temptations once in awhile, but she's not excited about treats. Once in awhile, she'll eat Friskies Party Mix out of my hand.

Where I hang out: She loves to sit on either of the towers, or on the window perch. She also like to sit in my bedroom window and watch the birds in the trees.

My favorite grubs: She loves any and all wet food, to the point that she tries to steal everyone elses.

My pet peeves: Not being able to go outside without a harness and leash.
Not being allowed to eat my fursibs food, cuz I want it all!

What I love about my owners: She and Dad made me a part of the family and I have a bigger place to roam around in. I also have many windows to look out of and see all the birds and other critters. They found a good place for my littermates to go.

My cat hobbies: Eat! Run through the house and play with Da Bird and other string or wand toys and sometimes my fursibs. Mom now takes me out in the front yard in the morning, so I can smell the grass, maybe eat a blade or two and chase bugs! Eat!

Pet motto: She doesn't have one, yet.

How We Met

A family was evicted from the mobile home park next door and they had to leave 5 cats behind. My husband and I took care of them for 3 days until animal control could come and collect them. We fell in love with Mischief and brought her home. The others went to an organization called A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin') where they will be cared for until homes are found for them. They are a no-kill organization. We learned just this week (July, 2012) that all of her siblings have been adopted!

Hi Mischief
Yep, that's really about the last we heard on Dad Bill too. We've just been operating under the "no news is good news" principle & have just been glad that Mom Janada wasn't having to deal with the day to day of it, driving him back & forth to the hospital for his infusions while she was trying to get her own health back! I guess he & the granddaughter have been managing.

Wishing your Dad good luck with the plumbing. We just heard about how Rhoamin's Dad went to change & O-ring and it ended up taking all day & a new faucet besides. Around here we call that "fiddle time", like how when Mom changed the tub/shower diverter last week she ended up spending over an hour getting the dumb little sleeve off, the one you have to take off before you even GET to the diverter. Boy, did she ever use up a lot of Liquid Wrench on that thing but she got it done and the shower works better than it has in a long, long time!

We thought Mom had lost her mind last night. She looked out the window right around suppertime, it was raining really hard and a whole lane of the road in front of our house was flooded! So Mom put on her big orange reflective raincoat from when she was a traffic flagger, grabbed the snow shovel she keeps in the basement (because when you DO have to shovel snow, you can't always get into the shed!) and went out & found the storm drain and cleared a whole bunch of leaves away from it that the big windstorm had blown down. I mean, it WAS nice to have lakefront property for a while, mol, but the water was getting so deep it was about to start covering the sidewalk.

She came back inside & made some hot chocolate to warm up with. She says that after a long, hot, dry summer it's starting to feel like fall! -- Mike

Hi Mischief and family!
Our neighbor Abarna is doing great. Mom is still taking Abarna out for strolls in her wheelchair, but sometime this week, Abarna is going to start using her walker. Abarna has a doctor appointment today, so if her doctor gives her a good bill of health, they can start walking. K. Uncle Buddy Budd suggested once to us that indoor shopping malls are a good place for wheel chairs, so Mom thought it would be a great place for walkers too. (CC furiends have the best ideas!) At least the ground will be smoother (and safer!). Although, I don’t think Mom can take a cat stroller into a mall. MOL! That’s okay- way too many noisy humans there for our liking. Plus we like our rides on the bumpy walking trail. :)

My sisters and I are doing fine. The weather is just right, in the low 80’s, so we’re all catnapping in the backyard. It has started to get kind of chilly in the mornings, but the weatherman said we’re expecting some more 90 degree temps this weekend. Summer isn’t over yet!

I've been a good boy and haven't had any run-ins with my sister Callie since that one bad night. Mom has been keeping a close eye on me and she relaxed when she saw me licking Callie's head last night. I don't want to get a reputation as mean ole tom!

Give your sweet family big hugs for sweetie. We hope to see you at the Coronation tomorrow.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief
How was your weekend? We enjoyed a pawsome one! But now it is Monday again already and Mommy is back at work. Sissy and I miss her. Mr. UPS man delivered a package from PetSmart to our house today. Mommy ordered me some mew chicken & cheese hairball treats. I am very, very picky about my food & treats, plus I am allergic to wheat gluten. So we have to watch everything I eat. The jury is still out if I will eat these treats or not. We shall see! We also got some cute mew Halloween toys. More about those later.

Have a meow-velous Monday.

Hi Mischief & all the family!
Yep, I'm still doing great! Mom still tests my blood sugar every couple of weeks and it's just perfect every time. She's going to drop down to doing it less often very soon, it's been almost a year since I've had insulin & after all this time, if my sugar was up she would take me back to the vet & not just give me insulin, so she's glad she only got the little bottle last time she bought some because it ended up going in the garbage not very long ago.

Dolly's Dad Bill is up in Washington State while Dolly's Mom went down to Arizona last winter so she could be nearer the doctors who took care of her breast cancer. Last we heard nothing had changed, he flat refused to get his leg amputated and the Dr. said that was the only thing that could help. His granddaughter moved back in with him, he was on a lot of drugs for pain & was a real grouchasaurus. Dolly's Mom really needed to stay positive to deal with her own challenges, so it was kind of "no news is good news", if you know what I mean. I'm just glad that Mom Janada is down in Arizona surrounded by her family & church friends, I hear they've been really really great.

We're getting lots of rain again today, Mom put the garbage out & has been doing some more sorting. Paws crossed, I think the sorting is getting close to an end. -- Mike

My final day as family blogger
I know I haven't been very meowy during my time but mom says that's normal for me. In fact she says my favorite thing to do every day is get underfoot in the narrowest areas of any walking space...or block the path entirely...MOL! Some of my other fursisters are more talkative than I am (Piggy is the worst) but none are better at getting in the way than I am.

It's another really hot day outside so mom closed the windows early so it would stay cool inside. All of the outside kitties are doing great, including JJ. He still tries to sneak inside almost every night but has learned to stay close to the dog's area whenever she's outside & Bartholomew is around. He's gained all of his weight back & his fur is beautiful again so as long as he stays out of trouble he'll be okay...especially since his 'jaunts' seem to be around our property only now.

Well I can't meow too long today because mom is doing laundry, & also has to make a short trip to the store to pick up a couple of birthday cards. One for grandpa (dad's dad) who's turning 88 tomorrow & one for furless sis who'll be turning 17 on Caturday.
Our infamous calico cyclone will take over the blogging in September but she may not be able to meow with you until Wednesday because mom has to go grocery shopping & pick up a mice cream cake for gp tomorrow. Not to worry though because I know she'll spin through as soon as she can...MOL!

Have a pawtastic day & I'll meow at you again when my turn comes around!

Loving hugs,
Patches & NICE Crew

Good morning Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 31
I hope that the ideas and suggestions that I’ve presented during the month have proven helpful. I want to especially thank those of you who took the time to send me ideas that I could share with our friends.
This has been a remarkable month for me and my family.
You’ve sent me so many votes, so many kind words and wishes, so much love. When I was little more than a kitten, (it was back in the day of the shout out COTD catpaigns.) I was nominated for COTD, and as I sat with dad that evening he read me the notes that kitties had sent along with their votes. I kind of got a vision of what was happening and Pete asked me what I was thinking.
This is what I told him; “I just had a vision of what is happening tonight, Pete. Kitties and their families from all over the world are reading about me and sending me votes. What is a vote? Well, it’s easy to think that it’s just a click on a computer, but I think it’s much more. In my mind’s eye I see the world as though I’m looking at it from space. The whole world is a beautiful orb, with no lines marking off the different countries. I see the votes as little yellow scrolls tied with a bit golden ribbon. They seem to be floating up toward me from individual homes. As they rise they join others rising from neighborhoods and the streams of votes from neighborhoods combine to for large streams from cities, and then from states, they flow together to form rivers of sparkling yellow and gold. They make a river of love and caring. Each one is a message of friendship.
The big rivers combine and form rushing torrents of love and goodwill. As the world rotates beneath me I can see that the votes are rising from all over the globe and that powerful rush of love and good will circles the globe and then it all comes rushing down onto our house.
I feel so loved! CC is a very special place and a vote is so much more than just a click.”
All of these years later, I still think your votes are much more than clicks!
My life truly has been blessed. I was rescued by my dad when I was a tiny sick kitten, and I have been loved and nurtured every day of my life. My brother and sisters love me and treat me with kindness and respect. I’ve made many friends here on CC and I met the most wonderful cat in the whole world, my wonderful husband K Whiskers.
I hope with all of my heart that some of the ideas that I’ve presented, can help other kitties to find the kind of life that I have been blessed with. Thank you all so very much!
See you tomorrow evening for a Coronation Celebration.

HOLY
( by K MacVitie)
The peace and joy you give me, no words can ever tell,
The lessons that you teach me, in my heart will always dwell,
Your purrs bring forth divinity, to comfort, heal and bless,
Wondrous being, praise to you for your gracious loveliness.

Love,
Talley

♥ We are sorry we didn't get to be on to visit our friends Saturday, but dad opened one of those Pandora Boxes when he went to change an "O" ring in the kitchen faucet. First he went to Home Depot to buy a new one, but they didn't have any so he went to Lowe's which they had one. Once he got it on and back together, it still leaked bad so mom and dad ended up going back to Lowe's and bought a new faucet. It was after 9:00pm last night when he finally got done.

♥ Last night mom heard a cat fight which mom had a feeling who it was and sure enough it was Mysteanah-Gre' and Sonnjae in a nasty fight!!!! Mysteanah is the one who usually starts it. Mom never got to see Sonnjae after that last night nor has she seen him yet today, but mom's hoping to see him later so mom can try to check him over. Mysteanah seemed to be okay!!!!

♥ Mom had to get dad up at 5:00am this morning as he went Salmon fishing with his nephew David toward the coast of Florence. Then a bit later mom went to Wal*Mart this morning to pick up a few things.

♥ Mom added two new pictures of our front yard down at the bottom of my page.

Hi Mischief & all the family!
Boy, did we ever luck out around here yesterday! We knew the wind was blowing something fierce all day, but today The Weather Channel site says that it was the worst storm BC had in years and a MILLION people in the province lost their power yesterday!! A whole MILLION! Big Bro Will said the roads were a zoo coming home from work, and all we had was the lights dimming a couple of times.

Usually it's Aldergrove that goes down first, but we were fine. It sure rained last night, though. Mom woke up because it was raining so hard that it got to that point where the gutters couldn't keep up and the rain spilled right over. So Mom woke up to hear a stream of water and at first she thought it was (blush) ME in the litter box. I pee so hard you can hear it when things are quiet. But then it went on, and on, and on, and she in her half-awake mind started thinking how it used to be last summer when I had diabetes and she was starting to get really worried about me. Then I jumped up on the bed, the noise was still going on and she woke up enough to realize what it REALLY was. Goofy, goofy Mom! -- Mike

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 29
Today we take a break in the catpaign, to make an announcement,
Queens Maggie and Angel Ginger have agreed that the Coronation shall take place on Tuesday September 1st beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. The ceremony will take place on the Cat’s Meow Resort, (271826). Following the ceremony there will be a reception for all kitties. There will be a delicious menu, Music and Dancing until the wee hours (or until everyone is tired and goes to sleep)
I have to say, It has been an honor and a pleasure to Catpaign this month, and I am so overwhelmed with your support and kindness. I will try to be a good Queen and serve you well.
And now a poem:

Cat-Proofing
Like God keeps His eye upon the sparrow,
I keep my eye upon the cat,
For unlike the little sparrow,
I’m not sure just where she’s at.
She knows the couch is out of bounds,
Yet invariably she goes there,
She ignores the yellow warning tape,
I’ve wound around it, in despair.
I know she likes electric cords,
She pulls them from the wall,
I’ve told her fifty million times,
THAT’S NOT ALLOWED AT ALL!
The wires are rewired now,
To shriek like fire sirens,
If she so much as puts a paw
Anywhere near their environs.
She treats the kitchen counter,
As a fun place on which to glide,
Though it’s purposely lubricated
To make her slip and slide.
When I booby-trapped the cupboards,
I thought, “A-ha! I’ve stopped her now!”
But fearlessly she enters,
And does not blow up, somehow.
Some cat owners keep baskets
Of balls of yarn upon the floor,
My basket’s filled with hand grenades,
Which she bats around ’til she gets bored.
Alternate pencils on my desktop,
On impact will explode,
She always kicks the safe ones off,
How ever does she know?
There’s nothing wrong with cat food,
It’s made special, just for cats,
But she wants steak and baked potato,
GET DOWN! GET OFF MY TABLEMAT!
Just once I’d like to wear a dress,
Not accessorized with cat hair,
But plastic bags do not protect,
How does she get inside there?
I firmly speak; my voice is loud,
Sometimes I fairly SHOUT!
But, somehow her cat meows,
Are loud enough to drown me out.
I tell her time and time again,
CUT OUT THAT LOOKING CUTE!
It would help so much when I yell at her,
If she looked more like a brute.
Her attention span is not too long,
Just long enough to drive me wild,
I’m convinced she had some lessons,
From a clever, spoiled child.
I doubt God’s little sparrows,
Give Him trouble quite like mine,
But He can’t hold them in His lap,
Or hug them any time.
Oh, I suppose it is a tradeoff,
And I do get some relief,
Like when she’s curled up on the couch
Behind the yellow tape, asleep.
I think to master cat control,
Is a fine, accomplished art,
I’ve learned I can cat-proof my house,
But I can’t cat-proof my heart.
I love you all,
Talley

Hi Mischief and family!
We spent the morning at the fabulous opening of CC’s very own Kitty Sanctuary. Queen Maggie and Queen Angel Ginger, along with several of our hard-working and creative furiends, did a terrific job on the project. The “Cathouse On The Queens,” as it was named, is so beautiful we wished we could stay there for a few days! Really! It’s just like a 5-paw hotel! If you haven’t already, be sure to check it at the Cat’s Meow Resort & Event Center on page 271826.

It’s only supposed to get in the high 80’s today- much better than the 98 degrees we had yesterday. We might even get to stay in the backyard a little bit longer.

Last night my Mom woke up with a start to the sounds of cat’s hissing, screaming and running like horses down the stairs. Mom jumped out of bed, saw Whitey and Orangie looking frightened by the bedroom door. More yowling as Mom ran downstairs to find me, on top of my sister Callie, while she screamed out for Mom. Mom pulled me off of Callie, yelling the whole time; then checking to make sure Callie wasn’t hurt. She wasn’t, but I knew that! Mom picked Callie up and carried her back to bed- where Dad was still sound asleep! That guy can sleep through anything! After everything had calmed down, Mom came downstairs to see where I was. I was sitting at the top of our tallest cat tree, still feeling feisty and swishing my tail back and forth. Mom talked to me and I finally jumped down. Mom isn’t sure what caused the fight, but she’s hoping I’m just feeling better. Maybe she’ll get the hint that I need more one-on-one playtime with her!

How unfortunate that your Mom's orthopedic doctor is retiring soon. Just when she had a doctor she liked. (Sigh!) Isn't that the way it always works?! We'll keep our paws crossed that she gets a great mew doctor! After all that running around, thank goodness your sweet pawrents got to enjoy a delicious lunch together.

I go back to the vet to have my urine retested on September 21st. The vet told my Mom to keep a close eye on my potty habits. I haven't shown any of the usual signs of a UTI, like not using the litter box or straining to urinate, so no problems yet. Thanks for your concern and caring dear furiend. You and your family are very special to us.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

janet too
has things to do as soon as she's in from work later on this morning. first load the sheets and pillow cases into the washer down cellar as well as open up the bowked so she can go in/out that way as it's much easier and quicker. then while those are going walk the big block with nat and pepper unless nat doesn't want to go as sometimes he just gets sick of walking the same block all the time and can't say i blame him! after that there's beans in the garden to pick and not going to be to many and no tomatoes as janet got what there was the other day 3 of them. one she's giving to her boss at work this morning called english gold as it's a hot mustard color and they're less acedic and so good! if there's enough limas then she'll spend the afternoon after getting online stuff done outside shelling them usually she just sits in her recliner doing them while watching tv! also the string beans will need to be cooked up for supper tonight as her chicken parmengana well it flopped for the most part and still was eaten, but the rest tossed and spaghetti for supper instead of potato, maybe janet will put the beans in with that and some meat? a nice pasta salad for a change of pace sounds good! sandy,ab,haley, angels

Thanks a bunch, Mischief & family
for helping me celebrate my Adoptiversary and for the cream cheese-filled catnip cookies, peacock feathers, furry catnip-filled mousey and the great song! You kitties really rock!

I can't believe it was eight years ago today I found my forever family and spent that very first night snuggled up with Mom & Dad. That day also made it possible to find this awesome CC family and my forever love Lady Dolly too. What a lucky tom I am!

My thoughts are definitely with my sweetheart's Mom today, this is the first special day since my campaign that Dolly's happy little face hasn't been here to celebrate with me. But I know that she's here in spirit, and her Mom can feel all the loving thoughts and prayers coming her way from all of us. -- Mike

♥ Listen up!!!! You remember that orange Tabby Tomcat that's been hanging around in our back yard???? Well, he's still here and has gained a little weight so he's not so gauntly looking. But guess what???? He finally let mom pet him about a week ago and still lets mom pet him some!!!! Mom was thrilled to achieve that. Mom also gave him a name and is getting him used to hearing it. Mom thought of a few names to fit him and has decided to call him ..... Sonnjae (pronounced Son Jay).
Mom also took lots of pictures of him and added seven (7) into my gallery.

♥ Mom called (Jazpyr's #10428 littermate sister) TOEBEE'S Momma Judy on Thursday afternoon to see how TOEBEE is. She is doing ok and continues to eat and drink water. Momma Judy did find another lump which makes two now.

♥ SAUSHA #22506 has calmed down enough as not to be so scared when mom goes in their room. She comes to mom again as she had in the past before her sickness. She loves the laser light and chases it all around in their room. Dad and mom are impressed by her fastness at it and so cute!!!!

♥ I am feeling lots better, too, and taking my Simplicef antibiotics for mom with no issues. Mom says I'm usually a good boy when taking my meds.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 28
We have a short blog and a long poem today.
I wanted to mention another way to help shelters. It’s something that dad has been doing for quite a while, and we almost forgot to mention it to you. It’s easy, doesn’t cost anything and provides funding for almost any charity that you can think of.
Most of us order things from Amazon, and they have a program called Amazon Smile. You sign up, and then whenever you make a purchase a, small donation is made to the charity you selected.
The small amounts add up, our local “No More Homeless Pets’ told us that they receive almost two hundred dollars a month.
Just a thought, and now our poem....
WHY OWN A CAT
There's a danger you know.
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger
One cat is not trouble, and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey
The fifth is delightful, the sixth ones's a breeze.
You find you can live with a houseful, with ease.
So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy, but Oh Lord, the hair!
With cats on the sofa and cats on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, its no bother, you said.
They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more cat and one more little crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty.
The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty.
The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a kitten, you can always find room.
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.
There's hardly a limit to the cats you can add
the thought of a cutback, sure makes you feel sad.
Each one is special, so useful, so funny,
The food bill grows larger, you owe the vet money.
Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other cat folks, who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died and your shrubs are dead, too.
Your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.
There's cat food and vitamins, grooming and shots
And entries and travel and motels, which cost lots.
Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite comes up and climbs in your lap.
His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the kittens in spite of the bill.

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the cats on the sofa, who refuse to get up.
The cats and the cat shows, the travel, the thrills
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.
The Whole thing seems worth it, the cats are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.
Your lifestyle has changed, things just won't be the same.
Yes, those cats are addictive and so's the cat game!

Hi Mischief and family!
Another hot day for us here- in the mid 90’s today and tomorrow and then it will start to cool down. Mom took Callie and me for our stroller walk early this morning. We had the trail to ourselves, when we saw a small doggie coming towards us, just trotting along by himself. He wasn’t barking and his tail was wagging. Mom was relieved to see he had a collar. Mom always carries a leash, just in case, so she parked our stroller off the trail and went to see if the doggie was friendly enough to let her leash him. He was and while Mom was trying to read his tag, we suddenly heard people yelling for “Bella!” Yep! The doggie’s tag said Bella on it with a phone number. Mom never gets the gender right. MOL! Bella was a girl! Any way, the people yelling were on the other side of the trail. The three mile loop trail is the one we always use. So Mom had to run down a hill (with Bella) to get to the creek and yell as loud as she could - “Bella is over here!” The owners were two teenagers who had let Bella off her leash while they walked. They said Bella never goes far, but apparently she must have seen a squirrel or something interesting. They thanked Mom and put Bella back on her leash. Callie and I waited patiently in our stroller, praying that no one would come by and cat-nap us! Mom assured us we were always within her eyesight. We had to turn around and hurry back home because it was warming up and Mom still needed to take our neighbor Abarna out for a stroll. Whew! What a morning! This will be a great day for cat napping.:)

Give your pawrents and the furmily big hugs for us sweetie. We love you guys and always have all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 27
Today we’re going to discuss a very serious subject; Lost Kitties and how to find to find them. I hope you never need this information!
Top 10 Tips For Finding Lost Cats
1) Not all missing cats are lost. Cats are notorious for hiding in impossible places. Before you assume kitty is missing, make a thorough search indoors. ( I once spent the entire day in mom’s lingerie drawer)
2) If you know your cat is missing, grab your cellphone with a photo of your cat uploaded, flashlight and treats and head out. Wear comfortable clothes and comfortable soft-soled shoes. Hit the streets
3) While you’re searching, ask pedestrians, knock on neighbor’s doors and show the photo. Ask if you can check their garage, sheds, under the porch. To save time, multi-task during the search: leave a missing cat report with your vet, Animal Control, all the other local vets, shelters and rescue groups.
4) When you return home, leave food and water outside your door. Local TNR rescue rescues will often lend a trap. Go outside one last time to check and call your cat’s name before bedtime.
5) If you haven’t already made a missing cat poster, make one. Include: A good photograph, your cat’s name, description, any special identifying marks or collar, when last seen and where (cross street), your phone and e-mail. adding contact info at the bottom of the page cut into four or five vertical strips that can be easily torn off is helpful.
6) Enlist family and friends to help post flyers and spread the word. Have push pins, tape and a staple gun depending on the surface. The best posting spots include street intersection poles, local bulletin boards at grocery stores, library, laundromat and community center.
7) Post missing cats reports at online at Tabbytracker Craigslist, local online newspapers Use social networking like Facebook and Twitter. Ask everyone to share.
8) Visit all your local shelters to look for yourself even if say they don’t have a cat of your description.
9) If you’ve recently moved, extend your search to your old neighborhood.
10) Persevere! Cats have returned weeks and months later. Keep networking, and asking neighbors if they’ve noticed anything. Keep your flyers or posters fresh with a “Still Missing” header.
Today’s poem was selected by my dad!

I Could Pee on This
Her new sweater doesn’t smell of me
I could pee on that
She’s gone out for the day and
left her laptop on the counter
I could pee on that
Her new boyfriend just pushed
my head away
I could pee on him
She’s ignoring me ignoring her
I could pee everywhere
She’s making up for it
by putting me on her lap
I could pee on this
I could pee on this

Let’s take a moment in quiet reflection for our dear furriends and their pawrents, hurting, ill or in need, and say a little blessing, then enjoy some BBQ and a big piece of cake!

Hi Mischief
Today was Autumn like around here and we thought it was gonna rain, but it never did. Just very cloudy with a little bit of sun here and there.

We had to stay locked in the house all day while mom went to work and then had her DR Appt...you can read about it on the CMR!

Mom got home late and we were upset cause our dinner was late. We eat at 5:30pm and mom got home at 6pm. We gave mom funny looks and told her don't be late anymore.

She said she was sorry but her and her friend also stopped to eat dinner before coming home and we didn't get any. It was Chinese and we don't like that, so it was alright!

We are all outside right now, but we will be coming in soon cause it gets dark early now and mom brings us in when it starts to get dark so she can see us...we have a very dark yard at night.

Mom is liking her new-to-her computer desk. Very roomy with lots of room for more stuff should mom get any new stuff for it....I was already all over it and investigating it from top to bottom. I didn't jump way on top of it though, but I sniffed everything within my nose reach....have to make sure it is safe for mom you know!

TIMS is short for TIMtations and the initials T I M S stand for {get this} Totally Innocent Males! We are now going to be the "Furball Express"

Well, I hope you have a pawsome evening!

Hi Mischief and family!
Today is supposed to be in the low 90’s so we went out early for our stroller walk. Then Mom took our neighbor out for a ride in her wheelchair. The sun was already out, so Mom hooked an umbrella on the wheelchair to keep the sun off of Abarna. We watched them from the bay window and laughed at how silly they looked. MOL!

This morning my Mom was filling the syringes with my pureed cat food and I sat by the kitchen watching her. Normally I run off when she comes towards me so she has to catch me first. But today I didn’t. Mom got on the ground next to me, petting me and letting me sniff the syringe. I swallowed the first one like a good boy and Mom waited for me to run. Nope! I sat there waiting for more! Mom gave me my second one along with a big hug. Dad was watching and said to Mom, “Oh no, I hope he doesn’t get used to eating this way. How will I ever be able to feed him when you’re not here?” Mom isn’t worried. She just wants to get some weight on me with this prescription food and hopefully when I go back for my urine retest, I’ll get a clean bill of health. Baby steps Dad!

We're glad your Dad got all his work done on the church van. We hope his back is feeling okay. Give him and your Mom soft hugs for us, but be gentle.MOL! Your pawrents are the best. They are always helping others. You are all very lucky furbabies to have such a wonderful furever home!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 26

I'd like to take a moment, before we begin today’s blog, to thank every one of you, who took the time to come by and offer your support during my catpaign. I feel like I've learned a lot from all of you, and I hope I've offered you some ideas you may not have thought of before. I truly am grateful for your comments, ideas and help.
Well, tonight, I'll address a subject that I probably should have mentioned before. That is “spreading the word.” Shelters have wonderful kitties just waiting for someone to love. There are lots of people who feel lonely and troubled whose lives could be transformed for the better by a furry companion. How do we get them together? Advertising is the answer. It’s effective, but expensive. There is free publicity though, It is through the news media. It can be as simple as writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper, or it can involve establishing a rapport with local television and promoting shelter adoptions. Remember, there are lots of loving kitties available at a much lower cost than going to a breeder or pet shop. (dad has a hard time going to PetSmart on weekends because he always wants to bring all of the kitties home. The important thing though is to get the word out. People who live with pets live longer healthier lives than those who don't. Alley Cat Allies has a media primer on the website and it offers great ideas and sample letters and news releases. The address is http://www.alleycat. org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=373 . So, to get started, let's resolve to write at least one letter to the newspaper during the month of my reign.

Regarding the Coronation Ball, We still need to arrange the details with Queens,Angel Ginger and Maggie, but one thing is certain. Every one of the kitties on CC is invited to the CMR resort on September 1st, to celebrate at the Coronation Ball, There will be a speech (a very short one, I promise) and wonderful food, , and there will be dancing too. I want to purrsonally shake paws and hug each and every one of you.

And now today, something a little different:

An Old Russian Prayer
Hear our prayer Lord, for all animals,
May they be well-fed and well-trained and happy;
Protect them from hunger and fear and suffering;
And, we pray, protect specially, dear Lord,
The little cat who is the companion of our home,
Keep her safe as she goes abroad,
And bring her back to comfort us

And a poem

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice,
For grocery bags where I can hide,
Just like a tiger, crouched inside!
I pray for gourmet Kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For window sills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I’ll always stay real cool,
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

I love you all,
Talley

Hi Mischief and family!
Not too much going on here today. The weather was a nice 80 degrees so Callie and I got our walk in the stroller and Mom took our neighbor Abarna out for a walk in her wheelchair. Remember the little lost gray kitty named Pepper that we had staying with us for a short while? Her Mom called yesterday to say hello to my Mom and let us know that Pepper is doing fine. Mom is going to have tea with them next week.

Yes , we were so sad to hear Queen Lady Dolly's Mom Janada has shingles now! Just what the poor dear doesn't need. My Mom had the vaccine for shingles too. Our GP had shingles when he was very sick, so people must be more vulnerable to them when they are already down. How awful. It is just so sad and we are keeping Mom Janada and her precious family in our prayers too.

We're glad to hear your Dad got your Mom's van all fixed up. That van is carrying very precious cargo! Your Dad is quite a guy! Give your pawrents hugs for sweetie; your fursibs too. We always have all of you at the top of our prayer list!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 25
Yesterday was a wonderful day here in Jacksonville. It was 85 and not a cloud in the sky. We didn’t get any thunder boomers either. There was a nice breeze and we got to play in the screened patio while mom & dad worked in the flower beds. Dad has a couple of square foot gardens, and he took some of the tired tomato plants out and put in some lettuce, parsley, beans, and CATNIP. Mom planted flowers, in the front yard beds and down the driveway beds.

Today, I’d like to tell you about an Alley Cat Allies program that helps community awareness of the needs that stray and feral kitties have. It's called Every Kitty – Every City.

http://www.alleycat.org/EveryKittyEveryCity

This what Alley Cat Allies says about the program:
Through the Every Kitty – Every City program, we raise awareness and educate the community in targeted cities about outdoor cats, feral cat colony care, Trap-Neuter-Return, and the importance of accessible, affordable neuter services through workshops, outreach programs, and organizing.

The Every Kitty – Every City program provides individuals, groups, and veterinary professionals in the community with the tools and basic knowledge needed to serve as a community resource. As part of the program, Alley Cat Allies rallies and assists community volunteers, local groups, and private shelters to enhance their already existing Trap-Neuter-Return programs or to seamlessly launch new ones.
Alley Cat Allies sponsors workshops, open to the public, for advice and instruction on the best practices of Trap-Neuter-Return and colony care. We also recruit and help train local veterinary professionals on high-volume, low-cost techniques that will increase the availability of affordable neuter services including early-age spay/neuter and vaccination protocol. To start a program in your city, contact one of the existing programs, Or contact Alley Cat Allies!
This program was vital in establishing the TNR program of No More Homeless Pets, here in Jacksonville.

And now, a funny poem for today:

All I Need To Know About Life
I Learned From My Cat

Life is hard, and then you nap.
One day ignore people, the next day annoy them.
When in doubt cop an attitude.
Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours.
Climb your way to the top, that's why the drapes are there.
Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone's face.
If you're not receiving enough attention,
try knocking over several expensive lamps.
Make your mark in the world or at least spray each corner.
When you go out into the world, remember:
being placed on a pedestal is a right, not a privilege.

Thank you so much for your love and support! I love you all,
Talley

So pawsomely quiet in the house...
that I finally get to meow at everyfur!! Thank you for pouncing by to celebrate my adopty day with me on the 20th...& for the catgrats on my being COTD on the 21st! I enjoyed all of your blogs, the wonderful gifts, beautiful balloons, scrumptious goodies & your loving purrs of furiendship. Thank you SO much for sharing my 2 special days with me!!

It was a super busy weekend with the 1 year old grandson crawling all around the house but we survived...MOL! He was a very good boy the entire weekend but he's getting harder to keep up now that he's crawling so fast. He was standing on his own too so pretty soon the crawling will stop & walking/running will start. Then the real fun will begin for his mommy & daddy...MOL!
Mom managed to get her free windows 10 upgrade done while he was here but is just now getting programs installed to open her files. So far she likes it (except for the mail program) so thinks she'll keep using it instead of reverting back to her old operating system. She's already downloaded the mail program she likes, a word & excel program to open her transferred files, installed her new printer & connected everything (via cloud) to her phone to make things faster & easier. She's not sure everything is 'normal' yet but I'm sure she'll find out soon enough if she's missing anything important...MOL!

JJ has returned to the great outdoors...although reluctantly because he loved the attention he got in here...MOL! He's been staying close to home & has been avoiding Bartholomew as much as he can so hopefully he can keep himself out of trouble for a while. His fur has all grown back now that his wounds are completely healed. He's still nervous about noises & unexpected things but purrhaps that will make him more cautious about getting into or going places he isn't supposed to. Keeping my paws crossed on that one...MOL!
Our 2 outside kittens (Libby aka Nibby Libby & her brother Sundance) are doing great & are growing like little weeds. The rest of the outside crew are doing fine too but they're not liking our cooler temps this week.

Well I've got to get going for now so I can bake an anniversary cake for Fluffinella & Joey's 1st year together...& also one for mom & dad who will be celebrating 37 years of wedded bliss tomorrow too. I probably won't be doing anything but voting tomorrow but I'll be back again later in the week. Thanks again for celebrating my adopty day & COTD award winning days with me!!

Big paw hugs,
Patches

Hi Mischief!!
Thanks for your kind words, and sorry, but Mom has not been up to blogging because she is very sad at what is happening to Janada. We hope that the hospice is able to keep her comfortable. We are getting along just fine and Lollipop's kitty from Mars photo is at the bottom of my page, she was badly matted so she got a lion cut. Hugs,

Hi Mischief and family!
We are running way behind with our blogs today since that Mom of ours spent most of the day out doing errands. Mom made the mistake of waiting until I only had two cans left of my special prescription cat food. Normally our vet keeps them in stock. But when Mom got there, the vet had run out! So Mom had to drive to the vet’s other office, which is kind of far away. Then Mom got stuck in traffic and needless to say, our blogger is slacking on the job today. MOL! But she did get my cat food and she bought a case of it this time. Then Mom made a stop at Petco for kitty litter, kitty wipes, catnip and she didn’t forget to get us all a mew cat toy. Since the stores are already selling Halloween items, Mom got us a catnip stuffed spider, a ghost, an orange pumpkin and a bat. I went for the bat right away; Callie loves balls, so she grabbed the pumpkin in her mouth and took off; Whitey liked the spider, so that left the ghost for Orangie. Mom had to laugh when Orangie took the stuffed ghost and proceeded to do the bunny-kick with it!

When I go back to the vet for my urine retest, we get to go to the nearby office. I am eating some of new cat food on my own, but only a few bites here and there. Mom is still feeding me a little bit through a syringe, but if you can believe this, I'm actually not minding it! Today when I saw Mom coming with the syringes filled with the pureed food, I laid down on the ground and waited for her to get down beside me and open my mouth. Mom couldn't believe it and she gave me lots of hugs and kisses afterwards! I could get used to this! MOL!

Give your sweet Mom and Dad hugs for us. That was so nice of your Dad to fix the church van. Your pawrents are really Angels in disguise! We always have you and your precious family in our thoughts and prayers sweetie.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief
How was your weekend? Ours was very nice, except yesterday I didn’t feel so well. I was barfy twice and Mommy saw white hair in my poop. So she knows that I had (or have) a nasty hairball. I didn’t have any fever and I did eat a little and went potty. Mommy held me most of the day because when I don’t feel good, I am very clingy & needy. Thankfully I feel much better today, more like my usual happy self.

Purrs to you,
K Casper Todd

Hi Mischief and family!
We had surprise company this weekend at our home. My Mom’s niece, her husband and 14 month old baby drove up from San Diego for a quick visit. They all left this morning for the long 8 hour drive back home. Whitey, Orangie and myself were terrified of the little baby (Elsie), but my sister Callie has turned out to be a social butterfly. MOL! Well, Callie did come out to meet everyone and she even layed down on the stairs to keep an eye on things. Mom was so proud of her. I stayed with Whitey and Orangie, to keep them both safe under the bed. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Hee, hee!

Tonight I get my final dose of antibiotics. Hooray! Mom will call the vet tomorrow to find out when she wants to retest my urine for blood. Mom is hoping we can wait a couple of weeks to give the prescription cat food some more time to work and to give me a break from everything.

We hope your family had a great weekend. Hopefully I'll have some good mews to meow tomorrow after Mom talks with my vet. I'm hoping for a few weeks reprieve!

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 23

Dad received a solicitation in the mail from the Humane Society of the United States. And while he feels that they don’t get enough of each contributed dollar to shelters, he found some of the ideas here worthwhile. (dad prefers to support Alley Cat Allies and local shelters) but here are ten Ideas from HSUS.

1. Tell the world how you feel about your local shelter or rescue by using The Humane Society of the United States' Facebook share graphics.
2. Get to know your local shelters and rescue groups. Start the process by locating all of the ones in your area. You may be surprised how many groups nearby are helping animals.

3. Learn before you leap. Before you adopt, go to the Shelter Pet Project to learn what to expect when adopting a pet. You'll be much less likely to become frustrated and return your new pet if you understand the challenges and rewards of adopting a pet beforehand.

4. Say Thanks, Take a minute to express your gratitude to the people who work at your local shelter or rescue groups. If you've adopted a pet from one of them, show how well your pet is doing by sharing an updated picture via a letter, email, or posting it on the organization's Facebook page or website.

5. Get Crafty. Combine fabric, yarn, recyclables, and imagination to bring much-needed fun into the lives of local shelter and rescue pets. There's no end to the toys you can make. Try braiding strips of fleece into fun for dogs, or cutting and folding a surprising household object into a cat distractor.

6. Become a “Fan”. Like" the Shelter Pet Project on Facebook. Then, if possible, "like" the individual groups in your community, too.

7. Make wishes come true. Shelters and rescue groups always need towels, toys, and other supplies. Check their websites for wish lists or call them to find out what's in short supply.

8. Volunteer, if you can!

9. Help by helping your own pets, Microchip, tag and keep them safe!

10. Help local shelters make positive changes. If you see or hear anything at your local shelter that concerns you, follow The HSUS's guidelines for addressing that concern in the most effective way.

Nothing new here, but just a reminder.

And now, I have a short, funny little poem for us today:

You will find that feeding a cat is no easy task
What's the big problem you may well ask
Just open a tin and feed them from that
It is obvious my friend you don't own a cat
When outside they will eat a fly or a mouse
But things soon change when they dine in the house
Your fridge might be full of meat, poultry and fish
But what do you put in your fussy Cats dish
For to keep a Cat fed we beg, steal and borrow
Because what we give them today they won't want TOMORROW.

I love you all, dear friends,
Talley

♥ Mom is generally busy daily with first her kitty chores; usually starts about 6:30 every morning. She is up by 5:00am, but sometimes earlier which then she can get Wilbur on DC to visit. Anyways, her kitty chores takes about an hour and half or so with the potty box cleanings to feedings, medications and fresh waters. Then if she has errands to run she tries to get them done in the mornings after the mail run.

♥ SATURDAY 8/16; Mom took doggie WILBUR to PetSmart to get bathed, fur cut and groomed cuz she said he was a stinky dog and we all agreed!!!! Tehehehe!!!!

♥ MONDAY 8/17; Mom put that Revolution Flea gunk on Wilbur and then dad held each of us inside kits one by one as mom clipped all nine kitties' nails, then Revolutionized us, then we all got our treats. Mom didn't have to clip Sausha's nails cuz she had Tech Ashley do it while Sausha was under anesthesia. Then mom did the Revolution on the outside Girls; Sissee, Suezee, Patch Girl & Mysteanah-Gre'. NeuBee gets the Comfortis flea pill in a tiny bit of wet cat food.

♥ TUESDAY 8/18; Mom had to go to Wal*Mart to buy BAHNEETAH #10641 more Pepcid pills for her tummy plus a few other things. Later in the late afternoon, Mom went and picked up Sausha's antibiotic Azithromycin at the Health Mart Pharmacy then mom went to The Veterinary Hospital to pick up my B-12 Complex injections which mom gave me when she got home. I was NOT a happy fella!!!!

Hi Dame Dot and family!
Today with a high of only 80 degrees, it was the purrfect day for walking. Our Mom took Callie and me for our morning stroller walk, where we ran into a few of our furiends on the trail. The dogs that know us by now just bark once to say hello and then walk on by. We always fill the bucket by the dried up creek with water and we never forget to bring our bag of birdseed. Then Mom went to get our neighbor Abarna for a stroll in her wheelchair. Abarna brought a bag filled with breadcrumbs, so the birds and squirrels were really happy today!

When Mom came home, we were all catnapping. Mom always takes a head count before she does anything and this morning she couldn’t find my sister Callie. I followed my Mom around the house, checking the usual hiding spaces, but no Callie. So Mom started to panic, trying to remember if she could have opened any door, letting Callie get out unnoticed. By now her heart was racing! Orangie was asleep in the bay window and Whitey was in the closet. Whitey has a bed in the closet that she likes to sometimes catnap in. Mom shined the flashlight in the closet just to make sure Whitey was there. But still no Callie! Finally after tearing through the whole house, Mom decided to recheck the closet where Whitey was sleeping. But she couldn’t imagine Callie would ever get in the closet with Whitey. They just don’t get along that well! So Mom opened the closet doors to get a better view and sure enough - Callie was buried in a box filled with winter blankets in a corner of the closet! Callie and Whitey together in a closet?! Mom would have never believed it if she hadn’t seen it for herself! Now maybe I can get some peace and quiet for MY nap. MOL!

The only good thing about the drought is that the weeds don't grow. But with all the lawns turning brown in many of the yards and the dried up creek that runs parallel with the walking trail, it's starting to really look like a desert out here. It's very sad and ugly.:(

My Mom and Dad lived here in 1989 when the Loma Prieta earthquake hit. Mom was at work and had never felt a scarier earthquake. She remembers not being able to move while everything moved around her! Glad we weren't born yet! MOL!

We hope your pawrents don't work too hard this weekend. Make sure your Dad watches his back! Don't want it to feel worse! Give them hugs for us sweet furiend. We have you and your family in our prayers.

We left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Mischief & Family, It's me Talley
COTM DAY 21

Today, I just have a family story and a poem for you. The poem and the story together, are kind of long so I’ll get right to it;

In the days after my sister Angel Lucy Fur crossed the Rainbow Bridge my dad was inconsolable. He missed her terribly and he just couldn't seem to get over the heartache. They had been best friends for seventeen years and Lucy was very precious to him.
Whenever he would go to bed, he could feel her jump up to share his pillow. He'd reach to feel her soft fur and he'd find only emptiness on the pillow and in his heart.
It was a week after Lucy died that dad had a remarkable dream. He said it was so real he felt that he was really there. He heard a soft scratching at the front door and when opened it, there was a big black cat at the door just sitting quietly. The cat turned and looked away from the house toward the little memorial garden where Lucy had been buried. There were dozens of cats there, all looking so radiantly beautiful in the afternoon sunlight that they seemed to shine with a light of their own. Sitting in the very front of the gathering, was Lucy. She looked at dad and slowly winked her eyes at him. Then, with a swish of her tail, she turned away and led the cats down into the back garden, fading away as they went, Dad awoke from that dream with tears in his eyes, but he knew that Lucy had come back to say a final goodbye and to let him know she was ok and would be waiting for him..........
Dad could hardly manage to tell mom about the dream, he kept choking up, but mom found this poem for him. He copied it in very small print, and still carries it in his wallet.
Here is that special poem that dad copied back in 2008;

*Thud* as you hear,
A cat jump down,
Turn around to check,
Nothing there,
*Meow* goes a cat,
Where from?
I don't see,
Something wrapping around your legs,
Go away smokey,
You look down nothing there,
*Jump* as the bed bounced,
The cat jumped on the bed,
But you look....there's no cat,
*creak* goes the door,
The cat sneaked out,
But no cat to be seen,
You hear a cat eating/drinking,
But there's no bowls or cat,
Whats making these noises?
There's no cat, not no more,
He died on 20th May,
so what makes these movements?
Not the dog he's too noisy,
Could it be Smokey's spirit?
To say he's ok?
Or is it just your mind playing tricks,
Making you think he is still around.

not to much to
report to you as their grocery shopping couldn't get done yester day due that a neighbor wanted nat to help move furniture on their breezeway, but it was to hot so she finally got back to them, but not till after they had cut their time out short and got back home so he could go up and help her, but she cancelled out once they had been home a half hour and were eating lunch! at least the errands and getting take out were done as janet treated out to friendly's special of the month a cheeseburger and fries for $5! sorry about that cc's hiccuping once again!
got slow moving rain moving in here for rush hour and janet's hoping it holds off till after she's already at work and it's stopped before she's out of work so she and nat can get the grocery shopping done, if not then not till tomorrow, but nothing new there, they've shopped in a sat before and it's been nice and slow like a weekday morning! going to be slightly drier and nice most of tomorrow, then a warm front moves back in and we're back to this for sun-tues morning then it's all cooler lower to mid 80s like now through next weekend and NO rain from tues afternoon through sat next week, but we know it's going to change and not stay that! sandy,ab,haley, angels
