Hi! My name is Ginger Stevenson
I am Domestic Shorthair from Holts Summit, MO
Nicknames: "Spice Girl" and "Ginger Snap"
Age: 7 years old
Coat: short haired
Education: Ginger is my hospitality cat. When visitors come to my home, Ginger assumes the role of hostess, making each guest feel welcome and cared for. In fact, she takes her hostess role so seriously that I have to gently remind her that not everyone enjoys a cat on the lap or a nosey kitty sitting in their purse!
My favorite tricks and treats are: Ginger has a cute way of throwing her "mousy" up in the air with her paws and trying to catch it before it hits the ground. and Ginger's favorite treats are crunchy tartar-control snacks.
Where I hang out: Ginger's most favorite place is the "cat chair" where she can watch the birds in the yard or the hummingbirds at the feeder.
My favorite grubs: Because her brother Sampson needs to eat Hill's GD prescription diet for weight control, Ginger enjoys eating it too. It keeps her slim and trim and her coat shiny and sleek.
My pet peeves: Ginger has become "Queen Kitty" in our home. She and her litter mate Sampson have been together all their lives, and even shared the same cage (by their own choice) at the animal shelter for three years before they came home with me. So when they set up housekeeping in my house, it was just natural that they sleep, play and eat together. They even enjoy bathing each other. But when their new little "brother" Darcy came to live with us, Ginger was not happy with the intrusion of this little five-month-old "wild child." Ginger has finally learned to tolerate Darcy and even playfully romp through the house with him. But when Ginger has had enough of his kitty antics, she puts her paw down and lets him know with a hiss, a growl, and even a swipe of her paw or a little nip. Queen Ginger is still on her throne!
What I love about my owners: Hello, I'm Ginger. My brother Sam and I were born in 2006 and brought to the animal shelter. We lived together in the same cage for three years until my owner brought us home to live with her. I'm so glad she took us both, because I sure didn't want to be parted from my brother. He irritates me sometimes, but I really do love him.
After my owner brought me home, she gave me a fuzzy mouse. It was filled with catnip which just made me crazy. I love my owner so much that at night when she goes to bed, I bring her my mouse as a gift and lay it on her bed. When she finds it in the morning, she cuddles me and gives me kisses. Once my mouse disappeared for a long time. My owner looked and looked for it, but she thought it was lost. She brought me another mouse just like the first one, but I didn't like it as much. Then one day she found my old mouse in her bathrobe pocket. I was so happy to have my old mouse back. Now we have "old mousy" and "new mousy." My brother Sam likes new mousy, so he can have it. I can tell my owner really loves me, and I think she's pretty special too!
My cat hobbies: Ginger loves to nap in her favorite cat chair, often with her front paws crossed, or leaning back looking like a miniature kitty "buddha." In the winter, she enjoys sitting in front of the heat register or finding that elusive patch of sunshine on the floor.
