My favorite grubs: Meow Mix (wet or dry- but won't eat chicken flavor- wet).
My pet peeves: Strangers or visitors- human, feline or canine (especially the cable guy).
What I love about my owners: They feed me! They pet me! They love me!
My cat hobbies: Birdwatching. Watching Bella. Being brushed. Snuggling
Pet motto: I'm coming, but it might take a couple hours!

How We Met
His mother was a stray, that had her kittens, under our neighbor's porch. He was a runt and the other kittens and his mom rejected him. Then we took him in. He was very sick and almost died, but with the help of our vet, he pulled through!!

A Word With Whiskers – May 25
Marines Rescue Cats In Afghanistan – (taildom.com)

In Afghanistan, in the midst of war, many animals are lost and separated from their family. Many are found later by troops from the US, UK and Canada. Soldiers rescue these animals and get help from rescue groups that help them send these animals out of the country and to a forever loving home that they deserve.
Two US marine soldiers, Brian Chambers & Chris Berry, started a mission to help bring home the kittens they have befriended while serving in Afghanistan. With generous donations from cat lovers and animal rescue shelters, Kiki and Keykey, two lovely ginger kitties, have successfully made it home in the US.
Kiki and his fursister Bones were found by Brian Chambers, a U.S. Marine. “At only 3 weeks old, their mother had disappeared and they were left alone to live rough and fend for themselves like the other cats in this area. We looked after them both and they lived in a box in the office, after a week they were allowed to roam around during the day and sleep with us in the hooch at night.” Bones vanished a week after, along with Kiki, but Kiki eventually returned.
Kiki was injured badly on March 8th. Brian found him in horrible condition. “He was too frightened to approach me. I ran to find some wipes to clean him and I then realized how bad this wounds really were.” A vet came the next day and put Kiki on a course of antibiotics. Today Kiki has fully recovered.
“Kiki is a very playful adventurous cat who loves to explore and is very curious. He enjoys sitting on my shoulder, chewing on my hand and running up my legs. He hasn’t been put off by what has happened to him.”
Keykey was found by another U.S. marine named Chris Berry. “I found Keykey tangled up in c-wire one day in the beginning of the deployment. I took him in and fixed his wounds. He was extremely malnourished so I constantly kept an eye on him, until he was back to good health. He has been by my side ever since.”
Both Keykey and Kiki have arrived in the U.S. Kiki is currently living with Brian’s parents in Texas. Keykey is living with Chris’ parents in Michigan.
For soldiers who are on duty overseas, often time the only chance they get to cuddle is when they meet these stray animals. These soldiers are lonely and longing for love from their family and friends. The kitties are abandoned, lost and have nowhere to call home. When they find each other, they become best friends.

have to bundle up
out there this morning and today! going to be a bit warmer come tomorrow the 50s and maybe clearing in the afternoon so a few local forecasters are saying. then sunshine and 70s on monday for the holiday. only trouble is janet's working tomorrow-tuesday, then again thurs-sun next weekend and into the following week seeing one guy is on vacation and nobody to cover for the daytime or nights. sandy,ana,haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

I can't wait until we can chat every night. Mom says I can be on when Spunky isn't. She is on 3 nights a week. I did enjoy some mom time this evening. I think that is why she is doing our blogs so late. MOL I'm happy mom let me have mommy and me time.

Well, whatever the doctor decides for your dad and his insulin, we hope it gets his blood sugar under control.
We have had a TON of rain today! We had about an inch, and they are actually starting to toss around the "F" word - "flood". Scared you, didn't I? Haha! Mom loves the rain, and everything is SO green now, since we've had about 3 days of pretty good rain, but it came down in buckets today! Just sheets of non-stop rain. So we'll have to pay attention to the rivers fr a couple of days. Sheesh. First it's hot, then it's cold, now it's rainy, and it might flood. Do we have exciting weather or WHAT! MOL!

A Word With Whiskers – May 24
What I’ve Learned From My Cats- by Sue Resnick

We, as Human-Americans, think that we are so much smarter than our pets. But think about it — who gets a belly rub just by purring; or, tells us when it’s time to eat without ever wearing a watch? That’s right: “Feline-Americans” teach us…that they are superior.
1) Feline-Americans (okay, cats) keep us in the moment. Cats make us realize how ridiculous it is to carry a grudge. They may fight with their “fur peer” one minute over kibble, & forget all about the brawl 5 minutes later. They live in the present. No, they’re not stupid, nor amnesiacs. They just know that carrying a grudge isn’t worth it in life. They have 9 lives and still won’t waste any of them staying mad.
2) Cats teach us patience. If you have the chance, watch a cat scope out a mouse. The kitty won’t run & run after the mouse. Instead, he’ll wait & steady itself for a pounce. That teaches us not to waste energy on something that can’t happen. Just wait for the right moment, & you’ll get what you deserve.
3) Always look attractive. Did you ever notice how big your cat’s eyes get when you open the cabinets where you keep her treats? Or, how she adorably cocks her head when she wants you to pet her? Cats are like supermodels: they can get everything they want by looking beautiful. Next time you need your office buddy to finish a report for you, look pitiful, dewy-eyed & speak softly. They’ll say yes, just because you look adorable.
4) Felines also teach us the value of sleep. We humans don’t sleep enough. You never see a cat wondering if it’s bedtime; they just go to sleep—with no worries. You get into bed, toss & turn, while Kitty snurrs (snoring & purring at the same time). Learn from your cat: your problems won’t go away while you’re dreaming, but you can be anyone you want with your eyes closed (yes, your buddy dreams he rules the Kingdom of Cats, with you as a royal servant).
5) Cats teach us the meaning of unconditional love. Kitties don’t care if you’re a CEO or a dishwasher; they value your heart, not your wallet. Felines won’t judge you if you don’t go to the gym; they’d rather have you home, eating while they have a snack too. If you have a bad day at work, your cat still loves you. Cats don’t think any less of you; they will love you as you are. After all, they think so highly of themselves—they couldn’t think less of you.
6) Lastly, cats have taught us that being a cat is wonderful—if they have a wonderful human to love them. But, I would never tell my beloved cats that fact, because THEY are my boss ….Uh, wait, they are meowing for a treat in the kitchen…gotta go…!

To tell you the truth, there really hasn’t been much happening with the Girl Power Crew lately! Ok, there is this from a few days back when mom used that weedeater and scared most all the outside kitties into hiding then on Monday she mowed the back yard so most all of them went into hiding again!
Oh!, and there’s this thing I told you about my mama Kittzi 160203 was using the potty box lid for her bed…… well, mom figured it out that Kittzi was telling her she needed that MiraLax again cuz she was having problems with it being hard coming out of her! Guess mom’s getting to know some kitty signs and talk! MOL!
For those of you who had voted for me in the GIRL KITTY CONTEST sponsored by SassySu, I want to say Thank You, but mom pulled me from the contest for purrrsonal reasons. She said maybe another time!
On Thursday morning when mom came in our room to scoop out our potty boxes then came to say Good Morning to me and Kittzi, well, Kittzi decided to bite mom's left index finger and it started bleeding. All mom was doing was petting her, but guess she didn't want petted. Mom's ok though and she never even raised her voice nor got mad at her! She just told Kittzi it's ok!
Ok, ok! So I told a little kitty fib of saying “not much has been happening”! So kiss me for that! MOL! Oh, and, Mom also just changed my profile picture to one taken on May Day!
For the next several months we may not be on too often as mom and dad will be xtra busy. We will try to get on when we can!

janet should've
gotten home sooner yesterday, then she would've been able to get her late morning walk in with pepper instead of shopping for groceries at wally world and running to the bank. she could've done it after work today. but what's done is done! 70s yesterday/humid, upper 60s to lower 70s here today and only lower to mid 50s all weekend and 70s with sun monday. sandy,ana,haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

How are you today.A nice day for us,no storms yet today,hope there are no loud thunder.Got to go out to explore,did not see a grasshopper today,the one I caught must have went and warned all his buddies not to come by Spongies house,hehe!I did chase a butterfly round,round,I could not get it,Oreo jumped up in the air after it and turned a flip right in the air and landed right back on his feet,butterfly got away,mom said she was going to start carrying her camera around here neck!I went to my usual places,mousey bushes,ate grass,explored in the tall grass,nothing in there,did not even see the groundhogs out today,then we went back to the tree that had all the little birdies in it,birds were there flying all around in the tree,I just sat there and watched them,I whisperd so mom could not hear me and said hi little birdies want to fly down and see Spongie,hehe,but they stayed high in the tree,so I just scratched my claws on the tree,shook my paw at them and on I went,ole birdies.Then mom sit down for a few minutes,so I lay in mr.sun besdie her and watched more butterflies fly by,then I just fell over and lay there to rest.Then mom said ok time to go in,I had leaves,twigs stuck all in my fur,mom had to brush me off before we came in, I hissed a little but I came on in.All ok in the house,made all my rounds,ate,went to sit in the windows,then carried mr.inntertube in to see mom when she rested,I hopped up and lay down beside her to rest and ate my treats on the bed,Wicket was on the other side eating his.Early this morning when mom was sleeping I was up wandering around and wacked Baby and she let out a screech,well that woke mom up,she yelled and said Spongie I know that was you,you are not here beside me,she said if I have to get up you are going to get a wack on that furry little behind for getting on Baby,and scaring me like that,Baby came running and hopped on moms tummy,mom gave her a hug,I stuck my head around the door peeking at mom,then I just went and moved the condo way across the floor and went tearing through the house,mom just covered up her head,then I sneaked back and hopped up beside mom and looked at her so sad,she hugged me and I gave her a big kitty kiss on the nose,hehe.So now I'm laying on the toy rug in my sunny spot watching ole grass monster go round,round the house eating all my grass up,I outta open that door and wack it a good one ,but think I will just watch it,hehe.Baby sitting beside mom,Wicket,Missy napping,Cindell looking out the window.Sure hope dad can get his blod sugar under control,bet that is so scary for him,we are keeping him in our thoughts,prayers,pawhugs,Spongie,Gang,Angels.Come visit me, Angel Gypsy,RIP My Sweet Angel Baby,I Love You, Angel Buddy,Love,Miss You Sweet Boy, "The Gang",Spongie's Siblings,Love,Miss You Buddy, Angel Rambo,I love and miss you my sweet angel boy, K. 5 Tips for a Slimmer, Healthier Cat – (petmd.com)

Being a fat cat might seem cute, but it’s really not good for your feline’s health. If your kitty is a little chubby or beginning to look that way, we have some simple tips to guarantee a slender, healthier version in no time. And best of all, if you keep following these tips, you won't have to spend the big bucks it takes to feed a fat cat!
1. Diets Are Not All Equal
The cat is a strict carnivore. That means a diet mainly consisting of "fillers" (e.g., corn and rice), is just empty calories for kitty. Do a little light reading during your shopping expedition, and start paying attention to the cat food labels. Meat should always be one of the first ingredients. Better quality food means less filler and that means a more svelte cat.
2. Wet vs. Dry Debate
Some people swear by dry food, while others won’t touch it. Ultimately the choice is up to you, but you’ll find more and more experts are leaning towards the wet food end of the argument. Less filler, more water content, and a happier, thinner cat can all be yours.
3. Portion Control
Try not to "free feed" the cat. If the food is left out all day for the kitty to help herself to, then she’ll snack whenever she feels like it -- even when she’s not hungry. Engage the hunter instinct. Leave the food for 15 minutes. If there’s still food in the bowl, put it away in the fridge for dinnertime.
4. Exercise
Play with your cat! Get her to run around and chase string, toy mice, laser lights (cats love them!), balls, and other fun toys. We don’t recommend taking kitty for walks unless she’s the type who enjoys it, though. But just 20 minutes of play a day can make up for it. Not only will this keep kitty from being bored and depressed, but it keeps her mind sharp.
5. No Table Scraps
People food is for people, not cats! Those little morsels are similar to us scarfing down a pizza. So, curtail table scraps from your cat's diet, and those treats designed for cats down to a minimum. But if Princess absolutely cannot go without her treats, try to find healthy options in the natural or holistic section of your pet store.
So there you have it. 5 simple tips to keep your cat in tip-top shape.

A cool, wet & breezy day at NICE H.Q.
I had planned on doing some blogging yesterday but my brother Zaboo wasn't feeling well so stayed cuddled on mom's lap almost the entire day. He was a BAD boy that was caught nibbling at Sammie dog's food & anyone that knows Zaboo knows he's not supposed to do that! I say we need to get kitty pawcuffs for him because he can open the dog's kennel,or any door if it doesn't get latched. Needless to say his tummy was upset the whole day & he was also barfy three times. He's doing fine today though & mom made sure the kennel is securely latched so he can't repeat his bad behavior again. What are we going to do with that boy? He's too smart for his own good at times & also stubborn as a mule! I've tried whacking him when I see him getting into things & so has Trixie but he yowls at us & stands up to his full height to show how big & bad he'll become if we continue to harass him! Talk about a brat...MOL!!! I hate it when he feels bad & always snuggle, clean & comfort him because he's my best kitty furiend but he definitely put a kink in my tail when he prevented me from blogging yesterday! Oh well...what's done is done & today is another day!
Joseph gets a HUGE paws up from me!! He caught a mouse that was trying to get inside yesterday. Pretty pawsome achievement for a kitty with very limited vision! It was really cute when he was done playing with it too. He carefully carried it to the porch (he'd been playing in the grass) & dropped it, then he climbed up to the window & meowed at mom...MOL! She went outside & loved on him while telling him what a good boy he was then gave him a can of FF as a reward! Gold star day for sweet Jo Jo yesterday!!!
Trixie & Fluffernut are being wild & crazy chasing each other, wrestling & boxing today. I just heard Trixie hiss so Fluffers must have made contact...MOL! Our Trixie may be a sweetheart but she's also got a lot of impish behavior & cyclonic action that comes out full force when she & Fluffers start romping! Fluffers is also quite the little imp herself but she's never gotten the best of our calico cyclone & probably never will since Trixie is the queen of chaos..MOL! Zaboo & I are lounging around not doing anything except for an occasional glare at our little sisters. YAWN...it's one of those days so will stop meowing at you now & get back to the serious business of napping...MOL!

it's a
comfortable 68 here this morning and peaceful till master starts to wake up and move around. stayed dry here all day and night too which is nice as there's a breeze too! boomers all day today/tonight and rain tomorrow with showers all weekend and nice maybe by monday. been a wet week, but we needed it all! 11/2" of rain the other night! sandy,ana,haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

I am in my kitty bed. It's on top of the kitty tree. Mom moved our stuff so it didn't get stepped on with all our guests. I like my bed up high.

Well, at least if your dad has to go on insulin when he sees the doctor next time, it will help make sure his blood sugar is under control. So that's the good news. :)
I wish we were getting some nice weather here! The weather is WILD all over the country. We had really warm days a couple weeks ago, into the 90's, and so far this week our HIGH has been 66. Today, at noon, it just broke 50. And it's been windy and rainy, with a wind chill this morning of 33! And get this - the actual temperature tonight is supposed to be around 35! Can you believe that? They say that will be a record low. And yet, near 80 by the weekend again! Insanity!
It's impossible to get used to these kind of changes. One day mom is in a T-shirt and wearing light jammies to bed with the windows open, 2 days later she has flannel jammies and the heat on. No wonder everyone around here is getting sick! Not mom, yet. Keeping paws crossed.... MOL!

How are you today.Was a nice morning but is storming,raining again,that ole thunder sure is loud.Mom took me out when the sun was out,as soon as we went out the door a grasshopper came flying right by my head and I jumped up and caught it,I did not even expolre any today,I was to busy playing with mr.grasshopper,I was having fun,he would crawl off and I would pounce on him,then I would lay my paw on it,raise it up and it would try to fly off and I would pounce on him again.Mom just sat down while I played with ole grasshopper,she said Spongie are you not going to explore any,nope not now mom,I'm to busy playing with mr.grasshopper,well I was looking at mom and ole grasshoper got away from me,I said mom you made me lose him,I looked for him and mom did to but he was gone,ole grasshopper.I ate grass and we came back in,it was getting stormy looking out there,I ate,then went and got on my toy rug cause that ole loud thunder scares me,then wehen mom wnt to rest I raced and got right beside her with my head under her arm,she said Spongie that ole thunder won't hurt you,its just loud,then Wicket came racing in and got on the other side of mom,Baby,Missy,Cindell just kept on napping.Now its getting darker again and more ole loud thunder,I'm still on moms bed with my head uner the pillow.,Wicket sitting beside mom,Baby,Cindell,Missy still napping,does anyone have any thunder proof earplugs I can borrow,hehe.Hope that you all are safe there from the thunder storms,they are so scary aren't they.Hope dad is feeling better today,keeping him in our thoughts,prayers,pawhugs,Spongie,Gang,Angels.Come visit me, Angel Gypsy,RIP My Sweet Angel Baby,I Love You, Angel Buddy,Love,Miss You Sweet Boy, "The Gang",Spongie's Siblings,Love,Miss You Buddy, Angel Rambo,I love and miss you my sweet angel boy, K. A Word With Whiskers – May 22
MIDNIGHT & STAY AWHILE – by A. Knight

“Molly’s cat died,” said Denise’s tearful voice on the phone. “Midnight was hit by a car.” Molly, Denise & I had been friends for 10 years & we all loved Midnight.
Denise explained Midnight had somehow gotten out of Molly’s house & a car had hit him. A neighbor had found Midnight, put him in a box & taken him to Molly. Molly & Midnight had been together for 18 years. My own cat had recently died from old age & I was crushed.
“Let’s go to her house & have a little funeral service,” I suggested. “I’ll pick up flowers & make a little cross with Midnight’s name on it.”
We decided to meet at Molly’s house. I stopped by the flower shop to pick up a bouquet of daises. There was a pet store on the way & I thought they might have an appropriate sympathy card. In the shop was a small gray & black kitten in a cage. It was too soon to get Molly a kitten. You can’t just replace one cat with another as if it were a broken dish. Not yet. The kitten tried to climb over his cage to reach me & did a back flip, making me laugh.
“He’s cute, isn’t he? I don’t know why no one has bought him yet,” the storeowner said. “I guess he is going to stay awhile.”
“Stay Awhile.” I smiled. He had just been named. “I’ll buy him & the cat carrier too.”
If Molly didn’t want a kitten, I would keep him. As I drove to Molly’s, the kitten meowed loudly.
“Be quiet, Stay Awhile, you’re going to mend a broken heart today,” I said, hoping Molly would accept the kitten. Denise & Molly were waiting for me.
“Molly, I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I saw this kitten & couldn’t help myself. I know he can’t replace Midnight, but if you don’t want him, I’ll keep him. His name is Stay Awhile,” I said.
“Stay Awhile? What a silly, delightful name!” She kissed the kitten’s nose. “Of course I’ll keep him. I couldn’t bear one night not having a cat in the house.”
“We should probably-you know-bury Midnight now,” Denise said.
We solemnly dug a grave in the garden & gently placed the box in, covered it up & placed the flowers & little wooden cross into the earth.
Suddenly, a cat leaped over the fence & landed at our feet.
“MIDNIGHT!” we all screamed. Molly grabbed the black cat & lifted him up. “It’s Midnight!” She burst into tears of joy.
“Molly, didn’t you look into the box the neighbor gave you?”
Molly replied, “No, I couldn’t stand to see Midnight dead!” We all laughed hysterically. Some poor stray cat just had a 1st class funeral!
I was thrilled I could keep the kitten! A day that started with tears ended in laughter, thanks to a cat who came to his own funeral & a kitten named Stay Awhile. I bought Stay Awhile to help heal Molly’s broken heart, but instead he healed mine!

One day at three o’clock in the afternoon, a customary time for daily prayer, Peter and John walked to the temple. Some people were carrying in a man who had been paralyzed since birth. Every day they brought him to a place near the beautiful gate (one of the temple entrances) so he could beg for money from people entering to worship.

He saw Peter and John coming and asked them for a contribution. 4 Peter gazed intensely at him—so did John.

The man looked up at them, assuming they were about to give him some money.

the second half of the afternoon at the er at the hospital in northampton and coming home the long way afterwards, but avoided a lot of the clogged up traffic they got caught in some of it. hit a record high of 95 here yester-day so much hotter than anybody expected, and boomers since midnight still ongoing, but most of that has moved away and now just rain which we do need! sandy,ana,haley, angels

Another scorcher today..we hit the mid 80's again. It was 90* yesterday and this is only May, can't imagine what July will be like.
They keep calling for rain, but it never comes, so mom keeps waterin' the flowers outside. We do not like the hose, so we come upstiars when she does that, she doesn't get us wet, but we are afraid the water will get us anyway.
Mom is all done painting her dresser and vanity in her room. She ordered a new white chest of drawers yesterday. Mom ordered a new headboard last month and it is white, so instead of replacing all the furniture in her bedroom, she painted it all white, but the chest of drawers is so damaged and the drawers are falling apart, so she ordered a new one.
Thanks also for my COTD win and my birthday wishes and gifts. I know this is late, but with 6 kitties, mom is usually behind with our blogs. I was pleasantly purr-prised by my COTD win, I was not expecting that at all. Thank you!!!

We're happy you all had a nice Mother's day. Our mother's day weekend was hot, too. But now today we are at 49 degrees, wind, and rain! Very crazy weather this spring/summer.
We're very sorry to hear your dad's diabetes medicine hasn't been working. How is he doing now? Any improvement? We will sure keep him in our thoughts. He sounds like a pretty special guy - especially to you and your family! :) Hope your day is perfect.
