How long have you been on CC? I think it might have to do with visibility , participation , I'm not really sure. It was a total surprise to him to be selected. Same with me! I didn't even know about it until the night before, when the text came through....blew me away! At least he had a head's up. I'm not really sure how a cat gets picked. There are so very many cool cats here.

Easy life little kitty!
Pretty much the same here. All three of us went out for hockey, Neelix and I are on TCLN , Jakar got picked for TIMS. Which reminds me, don't tell Jakar, but he was selected for the COTD badge on the 29th, and could really use your vote on Momday the 28th. He's shy and doesn't want to ask for votes, so I figured I owe him that much...heh, heh seeing as how I beat him up a lot! Just in play!

Nothing much really, I've been eating my friskies and lounging about on the rocking chair and such. Cheesy's Mom hasn't seen me for a while because she has been busy from school but my real mommy is taking good care of me. Verona, I will take the FFF and Hedley will have the mouse skewers. I would like catnip tea for drink.

Well everything here is made with quality organic ingredients, but I would suggest the Fresh Finch Soup (FFF) even though it is a lunch special. My sister Verona, who runs the shoppe, specializes in mouse based foods so you sure can't go wrong with the Mouse Skewers. Lil' Beauty's is mainly famous for our cakes. We made Cheesy and Orzo's fish flavored wedding cake.

good morning!
janet's through with shoveling, but will be bashing ice out of the gutters off a ladder this afternoon and not be- fore that as she took a shower after being sweaty and just plain yucky feeling. looks like janet's also gonna have to clean up the snow coming down off the roof too which nat's raking right now. he'll be inside this afternoon when janet's out again, fine by her. her only day off in 8 straight days and she's getting a good work out! sandy, angels, haley, ana

A bouquet of flowers brightens the day!!

Supplies:
4 White Carnations
2 Plastic Black Shank Buttons - if you can find an oval shape even better
1 Plastic Yellow Shank Button
1 Sheet of White Craft Foam
Black Card Stock
Fabric Glue
Straight Pins
Tape
Green Floral Tape
Floral Wire
Red Ribbon

Place button wires into the flowers to create the face (make sure they're secure). You might need to trim the wire a little so your buttons sit flat on top of the flowers. I also recommend looking at a Hello Kitty image to get the nose and eye spacing correct.

Tie a traditional red bow and trim off tales. Attach a floral wire to bow. Cut two rounded triangles from the white foam for ears. You'll want the ears to be slightly bigger opposed to proportionate. Glue one of the ears on the back of the bow. Tape the other ear to the floral wire. The wire should be 6" in length.

Situate ears at the top of the bouquet. You will need to bend the ears back about 90 degrees. The flowers should cover part of the foam ears (this is why we made them larger). With floral tape, wrap wire and stems to secure in place.

Last are the whiskers. Cut 6 thin strips of black card stock measuring 2" in length. Pin three strips to each side of the face inside the flowers using straight pins. You now have a Hello Kitty Bouquet. For more color surround it with other flowers or wrap it in cellophane and tissue paper.

1/4/13 Finally Friday! A balmy +19 here!
Good Morning all! Barney here--- Mom and many Humans seem to hold this day in special esteem. Purrsonally, I'm not sure why. For us, it is the day before Saturday, which means Adoption day at Petco or PetSmart and mom is out half the day dragging Zeus, or any current foster, out in his carrier, sometimes not to return! For now the group is doing Adoptions about twice a month and most families are pre-screened and have already found a kitty they are interested in on Petfinder.com. Actually all of us have been through this routine, but at some point mom decides to keep us herself, sometimes because of health issues discovered by the vet or because of our purrsonality, the stress becomes too much or mom just plain knows we were meant to stay with her. That was my story. I Barney, after all mom did to return me to health after my rescue, put my paw down and let her know that I was not going anywhere! The big thing was playing on her fears--- I learned how to get the dogs to let me out, by running under their bellies, like a shadow to get out. Mom was sooo frustrated! Scared! She was sure I would disappear and never come home. Could she trust another family to realize the seriousness of the situation? She punished me with kisses and gentle hugs , but I made sure to stick with my plan! Never give up, when you know you are right! Other CC friends were advising her to keep me! He-He! Victory at last! Mom also realized just how much I wanted to go out and that my staying safe was the issue. I finally accepted wearing a harness and leash and mom learned to come out and enjoy the morning air with me, Now she is going through the same issue with Zeus, but luckily the cold weather slows him down in his escapes, just enough for mom to catch him.

At this point Zeus is still going to adoptions and much as mom does love him, he is young, just over a year, healthy and playful. He often gets stressed out at adoptions and lashes out at people, which is the down side. Mom is trying a cover and snuggle bed for his show cage, so we will see just how that goes.

Now, a bit of business. Since tomorrow is adoption day for mom and Zeus, I hope you dear friends will excuse us if we do not make a complete run of blogging around CC. Mom promises to help type my blog for the day, but would like to post it on the CMR and on my Daily Inspiration page #249417. We promise to read any blogs and ideas you have and have decided to dedicate Sunday blogs to answering kitties questions and doing follow-up on stories you ask about. Mom hates when the news guys have a story on and never follow-up. A recent example was Hurricane Sandy. A family in Atlantic City was refusing to leave. Were they forced out finally, are they OK? No follow-up on our news.

It's a wonderful life
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) began a short story, The Greatest Gift", in 1939. He was inspired by a dream, and reminiscent of the 1843 Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Stern shared 200 printed copies in 1943 with friends as a year-end cards after numerous publisher rejections.
Luckily, the pamphlet came to the attention of a RKO movie producer who purchased the rights. Frank Capra's production company saw the movie potential. He paid $10,000 for the rights in 1945. Stern's story was adapted into the most loved and memorable American family film, "It's a Wonderful Life" in 1946. Director Capra's inventiveness, humor and affection for human beings keep it glowing with life and excitement.
On Xmas eve, George Bailey's guardian angel shows him all the lives he touched and how different life in his community would be had he never been born. Although George repeatedly sacrifices his dream to travel the world, he realizes "No man is a failure who has friends."
