Education: Caught someone's eye on the web that got him out of an animal control in Iowa/ a kill-shelter. Our rescue group agreed to take him, when mom said she would provide the foster home.
Barney Here--- Wow! You would not believe how Zeus is bouncing around in Joy! He hurried down to have breakfast, only to find a pile of greetings, toys and treats and that Beautiful Shiney Badge on his CC page!! Party, Party!! He shouts--- invite all our friends! Thank you, thank you dear CC furrends for my COTD!! Mom is trying so hard to tell him, you have to eat a healthy breakfast first. Will he do it? Not today--- a kid in a candy shop has nothing on our Zeus! Thank you so much CC furrends, this is what Life is all about!
What more can we say? Just a few words on the importance of friendship and support. Mom got us on CC a bit over four years ago. At first, she wasn't sure what to expect, but very quickly we were welcomed to CC and began making furrends. After a year, we were still on, had gotten a couple COTD awards, without even asking to run, and had been asked to join MHL--mouse hockey. That was a natural for us, though mom protested a bit, saying she knew nothing about hockey.
Our dogs joined DC and, at that time, we even had a couple rescued rats on SAC. Mom remembers one day hearing Dr. Phil saying, "How can anyone get on the computer for hours and pretend to be their cat or dog? Well, we want to answer that for you Dr. Phil! It is the most natural and normal thing in the world! We join together in a community of love, caring and respect for all. We support each other through our ups and downs in life, through our common interests in a safe environment. There have been a few mistakes, we are never purrfect, but we are a strong community, because our hearts are pure and we care for one another.
There, I have got on my soapbox, though I want to know, why a soapbox? Why not a catfood box or crate of cans? This blog may be a bit shorter than usual, but it is Zeus's day to celebrate and celebrate we will! No live blogging, mom has to go help her cousin Janet, who is studying for her State Boards, which she is taking next week to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. You might remember that is her cousin that lost her dad from Alzheimer's a year ago, just before Thanksgiving. So come Party on our pages, share and enjoy all the treats and toys to be had! Love to all--- Barney, Zeus, Handy Andy, Molly Jean, Hefty and mom, Judi.
My favorite tricks and treats are: ??? gets in all the places he doesn't belong! He also does a quick jump into the fridge and tries to hide in the back! Not a good idea. and Playing with wand toys and catnip mice.
Where I hang out: Top of mom's coffee maker, in the sink, in the tub, top of the computer, top of the stove-- that gets mom's attention real fast!
My favorite grubs: Fancy feast, fish flavors.
My pet peeves: not everyone wants to play!
What I love about my owners: She saved my life and gives unconditional love.
My cat hobbies: I'm about to be banned from mom's bathroom--- that says it all. I love water, unrolling toilet paper, scratching rolls of paper towel, and more. In the kitchen I sit on the coffee maker, toaster oven, stovetop--- everyplace that gets an immediate yelp from mom! No, haven't got hurt yet--- know she watches me real close!

How We Met
So far I'm his foster mom and he is up for adoption through our rescue, but that could change. Zeus is a bundle of trouble and love. He came from an animal control in Iowa, where his days were numbered--- in reality, none were left.

Hi Teammate Zeus & Fursibs
Another scorcher today..we hit the mid 80's again. It was 90* yesterday and this is only May, can't imagine what July will be like.
They keep calling for rain, but it never comes, so mom keeps waterin' the flowers outside. We do not like the hose, so we come upstiars when she does that, she doesn't get us wet, but we are afraid the water will get us anyway.
Mom is all done painting her dresser and vanity in her room. She ordered a new white chest of drawers yesterday. Mom ordered a new headboard last month and it is white, so instead of replacing all the furniture in her bedroom, she painted it all white, but the chest of drawers is so damaged and the drawers are falling apart, so she ordered a new one.
Thanks also for my COTD win and my birthday wishes and gifts. I know this is late, but with 6 kitties, mom is usually behind with our blogs. I was pleasantly purr-prised by my COTD win, I was not expecting that at all. Thank you!!!

Again!
This is the second time this month she has gotten poison ivy! Must be pretty potent this year. AND...I'M getting blamed for it! So,I kind of like to hunt for chippies in the English Ivy...which so happens to have a tad of poison ivy in with it. Not my fault she picks me up and cuddles with me!She did hit up one of the Doc's at her work for a steroid shot. See what happens there. Hope it was a BIG shot. Teach her for blaming a poor little cat!

They call it "walking the dog",but I've seen what happens. They go and have fun,and play,and get ICE CREAM afterwards! No wonder the mutt loves to go! Heck,I would even be seen on a harness of ice cream! Then again...when they are "out",we an go raid the fridge! I'll even give you a boost up on my shoulders :)

guess what?
janet's come down with the sinus-allergy flu bug and isn't feeling to good, but has worked at the store before with it more than 3-4 times and a few months at a time when it's relapsed. it's making her lightheaded and woozy, but she's keeping on going and has other things which have to be done today not tomorrow or next week. did 2 large loads of wash and gotten them outback on the lines to dry, walked pepper bright and early around the block, then has things to plant in the garden before the day is out and get them covered up with netting so birdies won't eat them. sandy,ana,haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

Beware of flipped over rugs...
I'm giving myself a big paws up because I was the one that caught a mouse this time! I had to growl at my sisters to make sure they left him alone while I played so you can probably imagine the pleading looks on their faces as they were sidelined...MOL! When I was finished with my game I made sure to put the playing piece on mom's rug & flip it over so he was covered & she'd have fun finding her 'gift'. When mom headed in the direction that I'd hidden her special surprise I was right on her heels meowing. She saw the rug, flipped it back & I meowed "purrprise" & rubbed against her legs. Hmmm...I started thinking my lovely gift was not very appreciated because I heard her say "that's gross Patchy" before she called dad to remove it. She did pick me up & tell me that I was a good girl as dad tossed him outside so at least I know my prowess is appreciated, even if the hidden present was not...MOL! My sisters have been jealous so they're on rodent patrol when they're awake plus have been shadowing me everywhere I go. Dream on kitties because the Patchy mouse patrol is now in charge...MOL!
Well there's not much else happening yet on this cool, cloudy morning so will paw you a vote & a triple berry muffin so I can head toward a good napping spot. Have a purrfect weekend & I'll meow at you again next week.

Purrs from Patches & NICE Crew
I'm sorry I missed pouncing by to visit you yesterday sweet furiend. Mom has been busy getting things ready for human bro's 13th BD today so didn't get to CC or DC at all. Bad mom...MOL! Anyway, she's almost done with the only thing left to do being frost the cake & add sprinkles & candles. Tonight is also sis' final school band concert so things have been hopping around here. The end of school is always one of mom's busiest times & dad is generally exhausted when he comes home because the teachers, principal, etc. are wanting end of the year stuff taken care of. Pretty soon it will all be over & then the calmer days of summer break will be upon us, followed by big sis' wedding the first day of August. Mom says this year has flown since she's been so busy but I have to tell you that I think it's kept her out of mischief...MOL!
Well got to run so mom can run the sweeper monster & relax a few minutes before she thinks of something else to do, such as weeding the flowers again before it rains.

Hope Mom enjoyed her buffet yesterday. Getting a late start again today. Mom saw the surgeon this morning. He is pleased with her progress & will see her again in six weeks. She will continue her PT. The landlord came today & finally mowed the lawn! Boy was it high. He ended up with two gabage bags of grass. Maybe next time Mom will be able to do it. we will see. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. You'll never guess what I got Gma!
Not one,but TWO catnip plants!! The purrfect gift for her :) My uncle bought her a blanket with a pic of ME on it.What more could the old girl want. They snuck out today and went to BFast,then went to the nursery to buy plants. Had me really worried for awhile when she said nursery. Thought they would be bringing home one of them squalling furless things home with them. Don't need no babies here,I'm the ONLY baby Gma needs!

I had some great band names I thought up last night in my sleep. I should sleep walk and write these things down. Can't remember them at all today! Only one that came to mind was Orange Yeller's. Do NOT like the carpet monster! Now,the leaf blower I love. I know-always keep them guessing.Hate to rub it in that I'm enjoying sleeping in the sun,but I am :) I've learned I never go further than my yard,the goat pen,and to visit the cow. Relief!
Bet your momma feels better things are all falling into place now. That's a BIG burden lifted when you all are taken care of,and yes...even the dog. Gma used to have a college girl that came to the house and lived here for the week they were on vacation-she took care of the doggies-it was great. Unfortunately,she has since gotten married with kids-so that option is gone! How long is your mom going to be gone??? Have to crayon that all in on my calendar so I know when to get the Slip and Slide and the Bouncy house all moved in :)

we heard about

Ahhhh...now it all makes sense!
Gma was at Petsmart today and there were cages everywhere..no cats in them yet though.
I TOLD you it was going to snow! Hop the next plane buddy..real quick-like before tomorrow :) I've been climbing trees and snoozing in the sun all day. Gma had the day off work,so "we" did yard chores. Hey,I watched!

Thanks for the good wishes for our Mom. Sure hope you don't get any snow! Hope Mom can work out a solution for the dogs while she is in Norway. Mom had the wire removed from her knee yesterday. She is very sore today. Her knee is stiff & swollen and it still feels like she is wearing the steel brace. And her knee burns! But she can sit with her foot on the floor and bend it 90*. Here I was all worried about you when I saw the weather channel,and heard the snow word. See...I DO worry about mire things other than my next meal. Don't get me wrong,my next meal is VERY important,but as I'm begging,I'm also worrying...something like that. No! Got it all covered. Have mom strap the suitcase to the goats back. TSA will NEVER notice it! Uh ohhhh Zeus-Gma was JUST watching the news,and they say snow in MN this week??? RUN! Come on over and enjoy the 75 degree weather with me. We can sit on the deck....sipping milktini's,throw peanuts at the squirrels.We'll have to make our plans for when your mom is gone :)

So sorry Mom's knee is bothering her again. Hope it gets better fast! Knee pain is no fun. Or so we hear. Mom was at her brother's last night & today. Its Audubon day! Just peer out the window and see the smorgasboard before you! Its like picking a lobster out of a tank. You go for the red one,I'll get the finch. Your not chicken are you?? Ooh! Chicken! Thats what we can go for! Although...they do tend to creep me out with them red,rubbery looking things on their heads,and their beady chicken eyes. Better stick to something bite sized.

we have
quite a few neighbors who do their own gardening, but no-thing like the way janet does hers that's for sure. some are going to be outside a fence growing up along a fence as she's gonna put tomatoes growing on that like last year and the more valuable things inside of a fence and then with netting over the tops of things there thanks to the birds who still can get in and get things. she's got her fingers crossed nothing will dig underneath like neighbors had trouble with last year and had natty digging a deeper trench to bury the fence deeper than last year. most of the yard work is mostly done except brush piles and the north yard. seeing the riding mower should be back today, then nat can help janet get those done as temps climb into the 70s and knowing the bugs will be bad then too is hoping to get it done and out of the way leaving her to concentrate on weeding as it'll need it soon again as well as planting more stuff once the threats of frost/freezes passes by this time next month. sandy,ana,haley,angelsCome visit me, ana, haley, malachi is my boyfriend! whiskerscotm & sandy, angels, vote whiskers cotm!.

Hey Zeus!!
Guess What!? Guess What!? I have been going out during the day EVERY DAY now! As long as I come when mom calls me in the evening,she said I could go! AND I CAUGHT A BIRDY!!! I was so happy,I brought it to mom as a 'Thank You' present! I do believe I impressed her! She put me in the house real quick,though,and made me leave my bird! Come on over!
There is the giant yellow orb in the sky today! Who would have thunk that! Oh Zeus,had the scare of a lifetime today!Went outside for my morning jog around the yard-and it turned into a full out run for my life! Out of no-where comes this HUGE,and I mean HUGE slobbering black dog romping right towards me. Stupid mutt. Gma got after it with the broom and I was hissing behind her. Had her back and all that you know.Wanted her to feel all important like she was doing something. Man,I saw 9 lives flash before my eyes. *whew* Is it too early for a Heinicat?

I'm here to help your mom pack for Norway! I know,its not for awhile,but we have so much to do! Why...we have to find a suitcase big enough for the goat,and of course all the fresh fish she is bringing back-right? Ohhhh...I can just taste the fresh fish fry now!
Sadie goat?? Well....um.....I just pointed the claw at the dog and got us off the hook. What was I supposed to do! Besides,thats why we have the dog-right? Too bad we didn't dye the dog too! Maybe tomorrow.....

Oh bother....
This day is NOT going to be pretty. The Gma type is under the influence of Benadryl this morning. I came to your page twice,only to back out of it,and end up on mine. Get me OUT of crazy town here!!! Maybe I should wait til I kick her out the door for work and type myself.Purrfect-thtas what we can do! When she leaves,we'll bring in Sadie goat and see how the hair dye experiment will work! Think we should use the bath tub or the kitchen sink??

No worries...I've got it ALL under control(does that scare you??? It should) Hair dye! Hey,I dye my mohawk purple,why not dye a goat orange! Yes,they are VERY cat furiendly. As a matter of fact-sometimes too furiendly-always want to lick and kiss ya. But...be my guest and find out for yourself...don't say I didn't warn you about goat drool!

No kidding...we don't need something we have to revive! I'm not touching any goat lips :) Want to hear something...promise not to tell??? We have pygmy goats. Yep-fat little things,but they don't faint! No orange ones though..I REALLY think we need an orange goat. Thanks for dropping by to see lonely little me *sniff,sniff*. All alone....
