How We Met

She kept coming to visit us all summer long, she loves our dog Shadow. I would be out walking Shadow and all of a sudden Dot would be there!!! But what really cinched the deal was helping her dad work on the tractor one day, I think he found her irresistable!! She was very sick when she came to us. She had an URI after about 2 months of Antibiotics she was better and could finally meet Tucker & Mouse. Tucker & Dot are the best of Buddy's , Dot and Mouse are still working on it.

Hi Dot!
Happy Thanksgiving! It's a dry and windy one for us. Just making the rounds to a few friends. While mom was working on dinner, we were watching a crow and a magpie playing on the roof of the medical clinic up the street this morning. It was kinda cute. And also surprising. They aren't usually too friendly with each other.

And speaking of magpies. (I was!) There is a dove who lives around here who will fly around with a magpie in our yard. I swear they are playing! One will chase the other, and then they switch. They've been doing this for two years now. At first mom thought they were young birds that didn't know they weren't supposed to get along. But now she knows that doesn't explain it. *shrug*

Guess I'll mosey back to the kitchen and see if I can "sad eyes" another piece of turkey liver! Happy Thanksgiving. Hope your day is safe and full of love!

Mom is thankful for all the friends she has made here as well. Our humans go through a lot together and have shared happy times, sad times and amazing times. Thank you!

It's been a very sad couple of weeks here on CC with the illnesses and passing of both dad's and furfriends alike. Today we would all like to say a prayer for Angel Sabrina and her mom, Debra. Angel Sabrina will be truly missed. RIP sweet Angel!

HI dear Dot! And Mouse, Tucker, Shadow,
Mom and Dad! The pic with the horsie is mom's favorite, too, and it is so wonderful to see our CC profiles all honoring Catmom Jane's talent and generousity of time. It was so amazing how she picked the purrfect backgrounds, colors. You could tell she paid close attention to small details, and that makes the pictures even more special.

I hope that Shadow does better now that mom will be off to keep an eye on her. My mom took off today or maybe I should say she is working at her "other job" Groan.....there's a lot to do. Mom is scrubbing mortar off the tiles with vinegar so dad can grout. And when they take a break, they are shopping and doing pre-preparation for tomorrow's feast. Biggest brother came up and mom and sis suggested having a vegetarian Thanksgiving. Dad pouted and got a turkey anyway; he is a traditionalist for sure. Mom is making curried squash, hope it turns out ok.

No sign of the orange kitty, huh? Well we can hope he has a home and just wandered away that day. It's too cold for kitties to be living in the woods, and if he came up on your back step, he understands about people so maybe isn't feral. I hope he is ok.

Have a wonderful day and a lovely Thanksgiving! We have some big hugs for you and the family! HUGS!!

Hi Dame Dot and family!
Thanks for the funny thanksgiving thought! We loved it! Give your family a big holiday hug for us sweetie. We always have your family in our prayers.

Today our pawrents have Thanksgiving brunch in Santa Cruz with Dad’s brother and their family. Tomorrow we'll all be home for Thanksgiving.

Mom bought a separate boneless turkey breast to bake for us cats, without all the spices. She’s cooking us potatoes and peas as a side dish. My tummy is growling already. Not sure what she has planned for our dessert. (Maybe mousey pie?!) Of course we have to share with Ebony and Sugar Bear since Mom will be cat sitting for them.

We are expecting temperatures in the high 60’s on Thanksgiving Day. We wish all our furiends had sun too, but we sure could use some rain!

We left a vote with purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

It was a hungry pussy cat,
upon Thanksgiving morn,
And she watched a thankful little mouse,
that ate an ear of corn.
"If I ate that thankful little mouse,
how thankful he should be,
When he had made a meal himself,
to make a meal for me!
Then with his Thanks for having fed,
and thanks for feeding me.
With all his thankfulness inside,
how thankful I shall be!"
Thus mused the hungry pussy cat,
upon Thanksgiving Day.
But the little mouse had overheard
and declined (with thanks) to stay.

we're getting close to the bottom of
this page and janet's hoping to finish it up soon as she's got to get supper in an hour or 45 minutes so likely will go straight from this to that! it's 69 out there or was and so nice to be out in short sleeves and no bulky sweatshirts with jackets and mittens/hats atop that and thermal bottoms....although janet kept hers on only got a bit on the warm side when she walked after she and nat got home from errands after she was in from work. we've got 3-5+" of heavy wet white stuff going to fall as of wednesday afternoon and janet's hoping it's late so she doesn't have to worry about getting caught in it going to/from work and or errands she and nat have to run before lunch that day. sandy,ab,haley, angels

Scary day!
Our winds are a constant 40mph with gusts up to 60! We're under a wind warning in the area & it's really scary noisy out there!!
Dad called from school & the firefighters are putting out fires nearby due to power lines being knocked down. Hopefully the winds will subside soon because we're all very nervous kitties right now!

Our internet is going off & on a lot today too so we're just doing a quick meow then logging off in case it goes out again. got the day wrong on Angel Zaboo's crossing day. It's tomorrow & not today so he'll be doing some meowing from his cloud the next couple of days & then we'll probably be off-line on Thanksgiving day so the family can get to gm/gp's house on time.

Hi Beautiful Dot!
Gosh sweet Dot, you look amazing in your Catmom Jane frame. She always uses the purrfect colors to set of our fur. It is so pawsome to go on CC and see her lovely art work everywhere.

It's a wee bit warmer this weekend and all the white fluffy stuff is melting. Mom is happy about that. She hopes it dries so they can sweep up leaves like they were supposed to do last month. Groan..... But we think it will turn colder. Hope we don't get more snow for a good long while.

OMG a kitty on your back step!! An orange kitty? Awwww....wonder where he came from. Hope mom sees him again; yep I do think it has to be divine intervention if mom was interested in an orange kitty before. Sweet! Room for one more? Or purrhaps he has a home? Let me know if he comes back.

Good afternoon kitties!!! Today's topic is all about those nasty UTI's. Suggested by HT Jesse cause he gets them!!!

She used to go all day without a break, but lately your pent-up pet can hardly wait to go outside. And no sooner does she got out and she wants back in, then has to go out again. UTI's aren't just the 'bane' of bathroom hopping humans, kitties and dogs can get them, too. UTI's make it difficult to urinate. What's more, the inside of the urinary tract can get painfully inflamed.

POUR SOME JUICE: It's a home remedy for people that also works for pets. Cranberry juice, orange juice and other citrus juices boost the acidity of urine, reducing the number of bacteria and helping relieve discomfort. The problem with juices is getting your pet to actually drink it. Try mixing an ounce in with her breakfast food. You can TRY to put out a bowl and see what happens.

PROVIDE FREQUENT POTTY BREAKS: When urine remains in the bladder for a long time, any bacteria that happen to be floating around have more time to multiply, causing infection levels to rise. A pet that only urinates 2 times a day will more likely develop an infection more then one that goes 10 times a day.

ASK FOR ASSISTANCE: DOGS ONLY: Your dog may have great control, but if the only time she gets to go outside is before work and after work, bacteria have plenty of time to do their dirty work. If you can't get home during the day perhaps you can ask a neighbor to let her out for you.

GET THOSE PAWS MOVING: Most dogs and cats can't go around the block without making a deposit. Taking at least two 20 minute walks a day will increase urination and reduce the risk of infection.

WHEN TO SEE HER VET: While most UTI's will clear up on their own even without treatment, occasionally bacteria will swim upstream, causing a dangerous kidney infection.
Symptoms of Kidney infection include frequent or difficult urination and possible blood in the urine. Some pets get feverish and lethargic.
Don't take chances if you notice any changes in your pets normal urinary habits. She may need oral antibiotics to prevent a small infection form turning into a major problem.

Follow the Vets advice and always follow label instructions on any medication..The best time to give antibiotics is right after urination.

Keep them suggestions coming in!! Tomorrow: EAR MITES

Hi Dame Dot and family!
Oh sweet furiend! You have such a wonderful Mom! We hope the small orange kitty finds the box bed. It's hard to believe a cat would come to a house with a doggie, but I guess us cats can feel a house that is filled with so much love. We'll be praying for the little kitty.

My Mom still leaves cat food outside in the front, next to the cathouse that she got for Ebony and Sugar Bear. The food is always eaten, but Mom hasn't seen who is eating it. She's pretty sure it isn't the raccoons because they are such messy eaters and whoever is eating outside, is as neat as a cat! Give your Mom a big hug for us. We always have your family in our prayers, especially sweet Shadow.

My Mom was gone again all day yesterday (sigh!), but we think she was out Christmas shopping for us. We hope!

It is a very cloudy, overcast day with a light rain expected. Perfect catnapping weather. Dad went with us on our cat stroller walk this morning and we saw our furiend the yappy little dog and his human jogger. The jogger just runs by us and waves, now that she knows the stroller has two vicious cats inside. MOL! The creek is still dry, so Mom fills the bucket by the creek with water since it appears someone is drinking it. We haven’t seen any deer in ages.:(

We left a vote with purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

Hi Dear Dot! sweet you were giving Ms. Mouse a lil face wash and then she snuggled with you; and then Tucker didn't want to be left out of the snugglefest. That is so sweet; mom can sure understand how that would make your mom smile.

Bummer that K-Tuck has the goopy eye; I sure do hope he's doing better now. We'll be needing him to serve some drinks on the Pinto this weekend. I have a basket of healing thoughts and wishes for him. And one for mom; that's no fun she was feeling bad on the weekend; hope she was able to get some good rest. I am so glad Shadow is holding her own, bless her sweet doggie heart.

This week has flown by but BOY oh BOY has it been cold and snowy! We got dumped on big time...well not as bad as Buffalo New York, but we got bunches of the lake effect stuff. South Bend got a foot a week ago and more during this week. We got half what they did last Thurs but then twice as much this week....all lake never know where it will blow and how much. We are just to the north and east of South Bend.

Hope you are staying warm and cozy. Many many hugs to you all!

Hi Dame Dot and family
We hope to see the pictures of you kitties sleeping together in your special moment! You have a very smart Mom who was ready with her camera! Give her, Shadow and the family warm hugs for us sweetie.

The weather report got it wrong again today. Today we got the rain we were expecting on Tuesday. We’ll take it!

My Mom had the vacuum monster loose downstairs, so we were all catnapping upstairs together. The vacuum monster always has a way of making us cats suddenly the best of furiends - under the bed that is!

We left a vote with purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need. We also left a short cat story to hopefully make you smile.:)

True Cat Story - by Greg Tamblyn
My friend Harold’s two cats have the run of his place, and like many cats, they tend to get into mischief whenever they feel like it. The younger black one is especially curious, and is mesmerized by the refrigerator. Whenever Harold opens it, the black cat will weave his way through Harold’s legs, stick his head and front paws into the bottom of the open fridge and start snooping around.

One day Harold was in a hurry, and didn’t notice that his cat, in that slinky, quiet way cats do, had actually sneaked all the way in, on top of the veggie compartment. When Harold hastily closed the door, his kitty was imprisoned in the cooler.

Now this could easily have been a tragedy, with Harold returning hours (or days) later to find his cat on ice in the kitty morgue. Fortunately for his feline, however, Harold felt a need for the fridge a few minutes later.

He tells it this way...

“Nothing,” Harold says, “absolutely NOTHING that has ever happened in your life, prepares you for opening the refrigerator and seeing something move.”

MOL! =^.^=

Hi Dame Dot and family
Oh Dot, how wonderful! I bet you three kitties made your sweet Mom so happy, all curled up together. My Mom would love to see us all do that someday! Callie is the big hold-out in our house. I bet your Mom really wished she had had a camera! That was a precious moment!

Thanks for the belated Happy Birthday wishes for my GM. She had a great 85th BD and all four of her kids were there to celebrate. We hope Shadow is doing well sweetie and your whole family too. Give them all hugs for us.

It was kind of hard to get to my blogs today with the devastating news of the passing of two beloved members of our CC family. The only consolation for us is that we really learn to appreciate having a place to grieve with so many furiends. We hope and pray Boo Kitty and her family, and Bella and Button’s family can feel the love and warmth flowing to them right now.

The weather here is dark and very windy, but no rain yet here. Just very dreary outside. We are all inside catnapping. Stay safe and warm dear furiends.

Good Morning. Today's topic: SPRAYING..suggested by my baby brother, Winston..we have Jesse who sprays everything in site {yes he is 'fixed'}

Has your formerly fastidious feline suddenly taken to spraying the house, despite having a perfectly good litterbox down the hall? Don't fret too much, spraying has nothing to do with going to the bathroom.

It is a way to identify his property and covering other scents left by's your cats way of reassuring himself that he belongs and that he is owner of what he sprays.

SPARE THE ROD: Even if you happen to catch kitty in the act, punishing definitely will NOT work. It is a natural innate behavior in cats and punishing him will not make it stop.

PROVIDE SEPARATE QUARTERS: It's not uncommon for cats to spray when they feel they are competing with other pets in the home. Try keeping them separated in different rooms and show the spraying cat lots of extra attention, make him feel he is wanted and not competing for your attention.

LICK THE PROBLEM: It's natural for cats to groom each other, and once they get started they can literally wash away bad feelings. Once or twice a week, wipe down all your cats with a wet towel. After grooming themselves, they may begin grooming each other, this will keep their aggression and spraying under control.

GIVE THEM EQUAL TIME: Paying more attention to one cat then another will often foster feelings of jealousy and competition. Try petting or stroking all your cats together or at the same time--providing they are all in one spot--. This will increase their social interaction and reduce competition, and maybe he will stop spraying.

CREATE A "NO SPRAY" ZONE: If your cat is repeatedly spraying in the same spot, applying a pet repellent may help turn him away. Many vets recommend repellents containing bitter apple or you may use mothballs, which are stronger.

DO A DEEP CLEANING: If you've recent;y moved and your cat started spraying, it could be traces of a former 'tenant' lingering behind. Scrub the floors, walls and rugs with a combination enzyme and bacteria cleaner, like "Outright Pet Odor Eliminator", there are many different kinds available at Pet retailers. Enzymes in the cleaners dissolve the urine crystals.

KEEP HIM CALM: Cats sometimes spray in response to change. Keeping his schedule consistent will help prevent problems before they start. Always keep his bed and litter box in the same places and always feed him in the same place, keep kitty to a routine.

PRACTICE PREVENTION: 90% of MALES that spray will stop entirely when you get them neutered. Vets recommend neutering/spaying at about 6 months or younger.

WHEN TO SEE HIS VET: Most cats spray to mark territory. Sometimes, however, it can be a warning sign that something serious is wrong, like diabetes, blocked urethra or a UTI...if you suspect any trouble or notice him straining to urinate....see his vet.

Hi Dame Dot and family
Well, Mom left us all alone this morning to run errands, but not before taking Callie and me on our morning stroller walk. It was a bit chilly for us at 50 degrees, but we know that would be a heat wave to a lot of our furiends back east. We are expecting rain tomorrow, hoping for at least a half an inch. We’ll take whatever we can get.

Ebony and Sugar Bear are doing fine at their new home next door. While Mom was gone last week, Ebony did escape once from his house, but he came right over here to his empty cathouse and waited until my Dad found him. Dad was even able to pick up Ebony, put him in a cat carrier and take him back home. My Mom says that was a miracle!

We were all catnapping today while the sun was still out. Whitey and Orangie were in the upstairs window and Callie and I were out in the backyard. Our cat life is back to normal.:)

We hope and pray sweet Shadow is doing okay. We always have Shadow and your family in our prayers dear furiend.

We left a vote with purrs, hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

WHY DO CATS DO THAT? (by Amy Shojai)
There are many names for this common rhythmic paw-pushing kitty behavior — treading, making bread, even “pawtycake.” But one thing is clear, the behavior takes hold when felines are very young, as kittens knead against mom-cat’s breasts to stimulate milk flow. When adult cats knead, it generally reflects deep contentment and safety, and yes — love. Cats typically target soft objects such as fuzzy blankets, pillows, or a beloved owner’s lap.

Good afternoon. Today's topic: Itchy FLEAS. This one is really long, so I will do it in 2 parts..PART 2 will be on the CMR ONLY!!! Sorry!

See that itsy flea on your itchy pet? Well, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Within a month, that 1 flea you see can turn into 250,000, infesting not only your pet, but also your home.

These little pests are incredibly difficult to get rid of. In fact, you may never be able to eradicate them 100% from your home or yard. But you can prevent your pet from getting 'buggy'.

BEGIN WITH A BATH: If your pet is willing to climb into the bathtub{What?? Willing?? Give me a break!}, washing his coat with a gentle, non-medicated shampoo will send many fleas right down the drain. If your pet is still scratching after the bath, try again using a flea shampoo.

KEEP HER HIGH & DRY: As an alternative to bathing, try using a 'dry' shampoo, one that foams without water. It's better for your pet if he will tolerate a real bath, but any bath is better then no bath. Never use a flea shampoo intended for dogs on cats, be sure it says you may use use product on kitty.

USE HERBS: Mixing a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in your pets shampoo will help repel fleas. Pennyroyal oil may also be used. UNDILUTED pennyroyal oil can be toxic, so it should never be used full-strength.

GIVE HER A GOOD GROOMING: Pulling a flea comb through your pets coat once a DAY WILL HELP KEEP CRITTERS AWAY. In between strokes, dip the comb in soapy water, this will drown any critters hanging on.

CHOOSE COLLARS CAREFULLY: Traditional flea collars impregnated with insecticides can't handle heavy infestations. They can also be irritating to your pets skin. A better bet might be to buy a collar that contains a synthetic flea-controlling hormone like 'methoprene'. They are virtually non-toxic to animals.

SPRAYS & POWDERS: Treating your pets coat with sprays will quickly wipe out any visitors that may be dining in. There are a variety to choose from. BE sure never to spray into the animals face or eyes, ears, nose or mouth.

Powders are not as effective as sprays, but they can play an important role in flea control. Powder your pet from her neck to her feet and don't forget her tail.Work the powder down close to the skin with a comb...avaoid getting in pets eyes and nose.

GO FOR A DIP: More potent than sprays or powders, flea dip--an insecticide solution in which you immerse your pet--can provide long-lasting protection. Use dips with caution..follow label instructions carefully. BE sure you buy a dip especially for cats, cause dip make for dogs can be deadly for cats.

BRING IN THE HEAVY ARTILLERY: When fleas are showing up in record numbers, you may need to treat the entire house with a house fogger. He recommends using foggers containing methoprene or fenoxycarb, another flea controlling hormone.

What a great double celebration!
I was all set to celebrate my 13th birthday today, and then surprise! There it was, a brand new COTD badge too! I’m sure glad we prepared lots of goodies! Glad you were brave enough to walk under the big tall stepladder opened up over the doorway, festooned with a banner reading “Lucky 13”. You did a great job helping Mojo Blackbear with the serving crew of all black cats. The food is a celebration of whiteness with cucumber sandwiches, chicken kabobs, seafood salad, lobster macaroni & (white) cheese, vanilla mice cream with white sprinkles. My darling Angel Shai is serving white wine and A. Mallow & O.J. have contributed their specialty White Lightning, if you’re feeling brave. Lady Dolly and Molly Rose made an amazing princess birthday cake for me and Angel Gracie brought a gigantic white cake with edible gold leaf to share at hockey. It was a day fit for a Princess … which luckily I am! Thanks for the Temptations and the primo catnip, this will keep the pawty going! -- Evie

Good afternoon. Today we are discussing DEAFNESS. I can hear well, and I sure hope all of you can as well, but in case you have a hard time!!!

Some cats {and dogs} are born deaf. Others lose their hearing with age or chronic ear infections. Fortunately, with a little extra care, your pet can manage well.

Do they perk up their ears at the sound of their name, can they hear the doorbell, the sound of a can opening, if you notice any of these signs that used to get kitty{or doggie} running and all of sudden, nothing...your worst fear has been has been confirmed, she is not being stubborn, she is deaf.

GIVE HER A LEASH ON LIFE: Always take a deaf pet outdoors on a leash. They cannot hear predators or traffic noises, but you can, so leash her up to avoid any trouble or danger!

PRACTICE PATIENCE: Living with a deaf pet can be a challenge. They're often harder to train and may not play with you as often. You really need to show kindness and patience and it will pay off. Realize that you deaf pet wants to make things normal as much as you do, so be will willing to work gently to help her out.

TRY A NEW LANGUAGE: Your pet cannot hear your commands, but it is possible for them to see them. Hand signals are an excellent way to work with deaf dogs, Even cats that are deaf can benefit from a little signal training. Your vet can recommend a trainer to work with you and your pet.

LEAD HIM BY THE NOSE: Both dogs & cats have a keen sense of smell. In many cases you can summon them by creating olfactory waves---waving fish nibbles or a piece of dried liver through the air. Once your pet gets a whiff, he will realize you want him to come and will be right there.

BE ON TAP: To get your pets attention when she's sleeping or not looking in your direction, walk in front of her and tap her gently. A Deaf animal cannot hear the normal cues that someone is approaching. DO NOT run in the direction of the animal without warning, you will scare her.

SHOW HIM THE LIGHTS: At night, flashing the lights can help get your pets attention. As soon as she looks up, give her the hand signal that tell her what you want her to do {sit, stay, etc}. Then after the pet does what you want, reward her with love or a treat. Eventually your pet will come to realize when you flash the outside lights it is time to come in.

GET A COMPANION: Even if your deaf pet can't hear a stranger at the door, she can get clues from a companion. Dogs for instance will see the companion running to door and will follow. A deaf cat may watch her companion to see when it's time to eat or if someone is coming into the room...companion pets can be invaluable.

TODAYS Part 2 will be posted on the CMR ONLY! It is "When to see the VET"
Keep them suggestions coming in.
Tomorrow: FLEAS!!!

A cold Friday
Guess what? We saw our first flakes of snow!! When meowmy opened up the blinds this morning we saw some of the white stuff on the grill cover & windows of the vehicles. We know it can't be fun stuff though because the outside kitties were being very careful not to put their paws in any of it. Too bad our silly doggie sis isn't that smart...MOL! She insisted on going out for a while even though it's only 27 degrees. It could be interesting seeing a Sammie ice cube coming in later...MOL!

I (Piggy) am feeling great again & have been making up for the days I didn't play. No fursis (except Patchy) is safe from my pouncing right now & if they run, I chase...MOL! Monkey hissed at me earlier when I kept attacking her so she's disappeared somewhere into the back to take a peaceful nap. Trixie is a tougher target so I'll have to plan my attack on her well or suffer the consequences. Fluffinella has been happily running & wrestling with me but I found out the hard way that you don't mess with her tail. Yep...a whack across the head was my reward for that attack...MOL! Sneakers is always willing to wrestle with me but I wore her out so she's napping in the family room...which means I'm bored! Guess it's time to dig through the toy basket again...MOL!
Patches is over her cold now too so once again all is well at the NICE home. Well I've got to run for now but Sneakers & I will be back again next week to meow at you. Have a purrfect weekend!

Big hugs,
Piggy & NICE Girls

P.S. We're happy to hear that Shadow is doing better! Mom said to meow hi to you & that she's doing fine. We're glad she isn't watching us constantly now since we're over our colds...MOL!

What’s purring with you today? Can you believe that yesterday it was 80 degrees here in southwest Mississippi and today it is misty & 48 degrees? Brrrr! What a drastic change! Hi Dot!
Well if you are driving your mom to drink, she will be laughing all the way there, cause you give her a lot of reason to laugh. Gosh, girl, you sure have the mischief down pat! Oh that's wonderful that mom took Shadow on a walk in the woods. Our weather is turning frigid so if yours is like ours, mom will need to bundle up if she does that again soon.

You know, if dad had asked mom did she want him to gut her bathroom and start from the ground up, she would have said not just no but Hello Kitty NO! But one thing led to another and now dad says they must plan this remodel for the next phase of their lives and make the shower handicap accessible with a bench. So mom is zipping it up and no matter how long it takes, she will appreciate it. And it will be nicer. Mom is getting used to showering in the upstairs bathroom, things could be a lot worse. After this, Dad's only projects will be to finish the trimwork on the ones he already started. MOL he likes to start mew projects better than finishing old ones.

Have a great evening! Big hugs!

♥ Thank You So Much!! ♥
... for coming to my birthday pawty yesterday and for giving me this wonderful surprise this morning!
Mom and I haven't been feeling so well lately and we have not been very active on CC but we miss everyone. Our CC family is always in our thoughts.
I had a great birthday. Mom and Dad gave me tuna treats along with lots of cuddles and a new catnip toy.
I'm having antibiotics to help me with an infection in my skin and although I don't like them at all, they are making me feel better.
Thank you for your friendship, lovely blogs, goodies and nice gifts! You are the best friends in the whole world!

A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact.
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart
that goes strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend?...

With much love,
from your friends always,

Hi Dot!
Well, I know your mom really needs the laughs you give her, and she treasures you, dear one. But I bet she is groaning as she wonders what you will be up to next. That is too funny that you hid in the long box and pounced on Tucker....and made him do a vertical leap and get the fluff out! You got him good! MOL I admire the mischief!

YEP Dad has *ANOTHER* project going, well, sort of project creep. It started when he was working on the ceiling in the basement project and he decided we needed some new plumbing and a mew tub in mom's bathroom. The project took a life of its own and now its a remodel, which mom didn't expect. Mom is trying to keep a cheerful attitude cause it will be worth it if it ever gets finished ;)

Have a super evening! Big hugs!

Hi Dot!
Oh, I couldn't agree more, we black kitties are SO much more attractive than those bland old brownish ones like Bee Gee! Hahaa!

Sounds like you had your work cut out for you rearranging all the cupboards that way. I imagine your mom went and put everything back the way it was before, too, huh? See? No appreciation for your imaginative use of space. You'd think she would understand how much WORK you put into that, and give you a little encouragement. I'll bet she didn't have ONE good word to say about it, did she? *sigh* I know, same thing happens here, too. I'm not much of an interior decorator though. My specialty is making perforations in clothing. Mom never seems to appreciate my artistic "needlework". MOL!

Hello Dot
Thank you for pawing by with prayers & good wishes for my visit with Dr. William today. I had a wonderful checkup. I weigh 12.4 lbs. My eyes, ears, heart, & teeth are all good. My blood work was good, BUN = 26. The only little red flag is my Creatinine = 2.6 (normal is 0.8-2.4) Doc said not to worry (easier said than done), since my BUN is normal and my BUN/Crea ratio is 10 which is good. If my BUN was high, then it would be cause for concern.

Also my EOS was high at .99 (normal is .10 -.79). EOS is an abbreviation for eosinophil, which is a white blood cell primarily involved in fighting allergies or parasites. I do not have parasites as my poop specimen was negative and my urine sample was all clear. The changes in our weather could be causing me to have some allergies, although I am not sneezing or wheezing.

The arthritis in my hips has not changed significantly since last year, so that is good mews. My thyroid is 2.2 which is very good for a 13 year old lady like myself. Vet tech Jolynn trimmed my nails. So all in all, a very good visit. But I am so glad to be home!

Hope your day is lovely too.

Hi Dot!
OH my goodness, you are a devil Dot! I admire the re-arranging; wouldn't you think mom would give you *praise* for all the work you did? Like some yogurt cookies or something? No? So wrong! Guess next time you should TP mom's bedroom and see what she thinks about that. Mom is shaking her head, how easy she has had it, I have never re-arranged her cabinets. RennieBoots will shred TP but not much else. It's *RIKA* that would re-arrange our world. Geesh! She gives everything a nice "chewed on" patina.

Hope Shadow enjoyed her day at work with mom and hope she has many more of those!

Good afternoon. Today we are discussing excessive meowing or caterwauling. Today's suggestion by: LEGEND & CASER}

SHOW 'EM THE DOOR: Some cats, like people, can never make up their minds. When they are inside, they want outside, and when they out, they want in. Put in a kitty door. Pet stores stock these by the dozen's ranging from $25. They are simple to install yourself in most cases.

FEED HER REGULARLY: Rather than feeding your cat only when she cries for food, try feeding her at the same time each day. Once she understands her feeding schedule, she will be less inclined to give you reminders. {we eat at 5:30pm daily and let mom know when she is late}

EXTEND DINNER HOUR: If you trust kitty not to over-indulge, try keeping his food bowl full of dry kibble. If he starts putting on the pounds, however, you may have to try a different strategy.

GIVE OUT EXTRA STROKES: Frequent meowing is often a gambit for more attention. Spending a little more quality time with your kitty--petting him or even playing with him or going for walks, will more then likely keep him quiet.

DRAW THE LINE: While most cats will cool the chatter once they get what they are asking for, others are rarely quiet. Whatever you do, do not encourage the chatter. Even if you hold out as long as you can but then respond, what he's learned is that the longer her meows, the more likely it is he will get your attention. Be strong and ignore him.

REWARD GOOD BEHAVIOR: Just as it is important to ignore her when she is talking, you will want to praise her when she is quiet. Try giving a treat when she is quiet or say "Good kitty" and give extra pets.
It is important to wait until she is quiet before giving treats.

TAKE TOUGH ACTION: The next time your chatty kitty goes into his meow cycle, try giving him a blast from a squirt bottle. They will soon realize it is no fun to meow if each time they open their mouth they get squirted.

HELP HER RELAX: Constant meowing in cats could be a sign of boredom or stress. Try introducing her to new toys, preferably the kind that will challenge her mind. A Cat track with an enclosed ball is always a good choice. You want to make her life more interesting.

WHEN TO SEE YOUR VET: While most meowing is a cry for attention, in some cases it means your cat is sick or in pain and needs to see his Vet.

Note what kitty is doing when he cries and that can provide valuable information for the Vet. EXAMPLE: if he is meowing by the litterbox, it could mean kitty is constipated or having trouble urinating. Listen for different tones in your cats could mean upper respiratory or lung problems or signs of illness.
