2/28/13 Final Official Blog of King Barney! +30
Wow! That does sound final! Tomorrow we sleep in--- wonder if the dogs will understand. Ginger woke mom before 4am today and had to go out. Zeus is trying to wake her up with purr therapy. This month has flown by, though there were days it didn't seems so. We have been kept busy with prayers and visits to sick kitties and families in our realm and with fun celebrations too!
Well, I have been been searching for an appropriate story for this morning and I keep coming back to mom's friend Anne, who isn't a rescued cat or dog, but probably one of our best friends. Mom says she learned most of what she knows from her, about our needs and behavior. Mom met Anne when she first joined the rescue. Anne was the oldest member, even back then, gruff to people, but one could not find a kinder or more caring person, when it came to rescuing cats and dogs. Anne was the real work horse of the group--- making sure everyone had food and supplies, bringing it to the colonies of feral kitties the rescue supported. Live-trapping cats, bringing them to vet appointments for healthcare and spay/neuter. Anne helped with transportation to adoptions and had a special Kennel license for her home. She fostered many special needs cats through the years, ones needing regular medications, having physical disabilities, or diseases such as feline leukemia, which other groups might euthanize.
When mom first met Anne, she didn't talk much, especially to new people. You had to prove that you were there for the long haul. Finally, when mom's car died, she needed a ride to the adoptions and Anne gave her that ride. Gradually they became closer and Anne began asking her for help with such things as kitten and cat trapping. She taught mom about caring for motherless kittens and understanding the needs of feral cats. One weekend Anne had a family event to go to and she asked mom to take care of a cat she was fostering and had a feeding tube. Mom doesn't even remember why it had a feeding tube, but she then realized that she had earned Anne's trust.
You may remember that we announced last weekend that Anne needed to go into a nursing home. Mom does hope to visit soon, as it is not far from our home. Anne surely needs your continued prayers. She was always a fiercely independent person and has not had an easy life. When she was young, she had an alcoholic husband and raised 5 children without much assistance from him. After she lived by herself and dedicated her life to the rescue. Now she is in her mid to late 80s and has both physical and memory issues and surely is struggling with depression, because she always was the one who took care of herself and others. Do apologize for ending on a downer, it was not intended. The up is that we are all in this life together, no matter who we are--- cat, dog or human. Snow!
We had pretty snow yesterday! I watched from all the windows---I really wanted to see what that was all about, but I do not like my feet cold and wet. Bean and I just found warm places to curl up and sleep! I like to watch tv, play with moms I pad, and play chase with bean, so we were not bored at all. I wish all my kitty friends had a warm loving home, so they could look after their human friends. Luv and kitty kisses to all!Come visit me, Belle & Bean.

Thank you all my kitty friends and their family's
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for my upcoming breast cancer operation. I will have my surgery next Friday the 22. It is good to know so many friends and fellow cat lovers are pulling for me.

Do you have a valentine yet? If not, can I be yours? I don't have a valentine yet and I'm looking for one today.

Dis your mom need surgery? I will keep her in my prayers and I will tell me momma to prsay for her at night and in the morning!
Does she has cancer or something?
My Grammy almost had breast cancer.
They found something, but it dissapeared.
I will pray for her right now.

Clara Checking In...
Hi Belle & Bean!
Mom and I wanted to check in and let your Mom know that she continues to be in our prayers. We think of all of you so often.
I got sick on Tuesday with a bad UTI. Mom saw it right away and took me straight to the Vet's office. I'm taking antibiotics and pain medicine and I seem to be back to normal now. Thank goodness Mom discovered my problem right away. We can be very, very thankful for our wonderful Moms!

Hope you and Bean are doing well! Still keeping your mom in our prayers and purrs. Is her surgery scheduled soon? We will all be pulling for her! She's gonna be just fine.
Well, the folks have gotten over the Superbowl loss, I think. Anyway there is no more wailing and gnashing of teeth, mol! Unless you count Hedley, but then, I think he lost a bet or two!

Belle, Bean and Family,
So sorry to hear that your Mom needs surgery. My Mom and I will pray and pray for her. It's cold here, too. We had snow last night. Mom is better. She thinks the cortisone shot helped, but won't know for sure until she goes back to the specialist in March. I like to lay on Mom's lap, too. She covers me with my kitty paw blanket, just like your Mom covers you. We have the best Moms any kitty could hope for! Again, your Mom and all of you will remain in our prayers. We care about you and want the best for all of you.

Continued Prayers
Belle & Bean,
Letting you and your Mom know we continue to lift her up in prayer, asking for peace and good news. It is SOOO cold here. My Mom is still under the weather, so I'm taking care of her just like you are watching over your Mom. I wish we could do much more for our wonderful Moms, but we ARE a comfort to them.
