History: THE NUTCRACKER BALLET
On December 17, 1892, The Nutcracker ballet premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia. Critics and audience thought it a failure; it was not an instant success.
The adaptation by Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffman (1776-1822).
The score was composed by Peter Tchaikovsky, commissioned by mastermind choreographer Marius Petipa. Tchaikovsky died less than a year later.
The ballet was first performed in the United States in 1944. The Nutcracker has become a classic — many people consider it the most popular ballet in the world.

Welcome, Puma!
You are a big boy! I'm glad you joined our Cat Club. It's a fun place to make new friends! I just joined last weekend. I lived in a shelter for nearly 6 months. Nobody picked me b/c I was born with a deformed paw. My new Mom wanted me and I'm so glad. I love my new forever home!
How did you meet your owner on an airplane? I think that sounds cool! Being up high is one of my favorite things...I can see everything better! I like to box, too, but not with animals. I just box the ornaments on my Christmas tree! The snowflakes are taking quite a pounding! LOL! Mom has only cat-safe stuff on the tree so that I won't get hurt.
