How We Met

My cat went to the rainbow bridge and I was looking for a new cat. I contacted a rescue organization. They had a bunch of British Shorthairs that had ended up in rescue due to the breeder having a horrific accident. I had fallen in love with a silver shaded cat online, bit the rescue brought 3 cats over. The cat I loved online crawled under the China closet and it took us 30 minutes to get her out. Beau climbed right into my lap and started purring.

Welcome to CC Feline FurFriend BEAU
The first New Year's celebration dates back to around 2000 BC in Mesopotamia. The Times Square celebration began in 1904, when The New York Times opened its headquarters and hosted a big party, complete with fireworks, on New Year's Eve.
In 1907, the paper's head electrician constructed a giant lighted ball, made of wood and iron, weighed 700 pounds, and was lit by a hundred 25-watt bulbs.
Today, it's made of Waterford crystal, weighs almost six tons, and is lit by more than 32,000 LED lights. The party in Times Square is attended by up to a million people every year.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but New Year's celebrations can be so delightful! And since you've got a place to go--to see the ball fall--let us go, let's go, here we go!
Other cities have developed other ball-dropping traditions:
Atlanta, Georgia, drops a giant peach.
Eastport, Maine, drops a sardine.
Ocean City, Maryland, drops a beach ball.
Mobile, Alabama, drops a 600-pound electric Moon Pie. Tempe, Arizona has a giant tortilla chip which descends into a massive bowl of salsa.
Brasstown, North Carolina drops a Plexiglas pyramid containing a live possum.
Key West, Florida, drops an enormous ruby slipper with a drag queen inside it.

Quote from the movie New Yr's Eve: "And as you all can see, the ball has stopped half way to its perch. it's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop, and reflect on the year that has gone by, to remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken, the times we opened ourselves up to great adventures... or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt, because that's what new year's all about, getting another chance, a chance to forgive. to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more, and to stop worrying about what if... and start embracing what will be. so when that ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, and not just tonight but all year long." Oprah chimes in, "Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."

While brave, enthusiastic merrymakers, revelers and tourists from across the globe flood Times Square to withstand the fierce winds and bone-chilling weather, mom will watch the festivities from the comfort of her cozy home. Fond memories, friendly smiles and warm hearts keep us bubbly and sparkling. We heartily toast the countdown to 12a.m. with friends and loved ones.
