Neelix is a very handsome seven year old tabby who was rescued along with his brother when he was a tiny kitten abandoned in a parking lot. Since that tiny kitten was adopted by his loving pawrents he has trained them to be excellent staff for himself and his brothers. Regarding his brothers, Hedley and Jakar, the three of them comprise the famous (or perhaps infamous) “pawty animals”. These boys are always the life of any party, they create lots of fun at every MHL Mouse Hockey Game, and they are always the first to lend a paw on any project that benefits the CC community. They’re always there to offer comfort to the sad, good thoughts and healing wishes to the sick and congratulations to those who are celebrating. Neelix and his family always support the COTD and COTM candidates. They are a credit to the CC community!
Neelix is an outstanding member of our CC family, and since both of his brothers already have their very own COTD badges, it seems that it is time for Neelix to have one of his own. Won’t you please drop by and give this handsome guy a vote, on Monday so he can have the badge he so much deserves.

The neighbor took in Percy's mom cat and once her litter was born, the human daughters at her forever home fell in love with her. Percy #245206 stood out because of her wonderful personality. Mom found Jack & Feather outside while she was helping a neighbor round up her loose puppies. They were tiny kittens, covered with fleas and weighing less than 2 pounds each. Now they are thriving under the watchful loving care of their wonderful family, who are long standing loyal members of our CC family! They were named by the children of a family friend: Jack reminded them of the pirate Jack Sparrow and fursis Feather is so named because she was as tiny & delicate as a feather! ~Trixie's Tantalizing Animal Tales~ March 2nd
Thank you for your loving paws of support yesterday as I started off on the campaign trail Libby! Today I promised you a Zoo visit so take a seat on our plane & get ready for a unique travel experience as we head to Argentina! Our pilots today are Hot Rod & Winslow but special thanks go to K Pete for making sure the planes were ready! We’ll be met at the airport by Lola & the BA kitties so they can show us the way to the LUJAN ZOO! (The planes soar into the sky & the kitties all settle back to await their arrival in Argentina.)
While we’re in the air let me tell you a little bit about the LUJAN ZOO in Argentina. Often referred to as the most controversial and dangerous zoo in the world, Lujan Zoo is one of the few places in the world where you can have a relatively safe close encounter with some of the most vicious wild animals on Earth. Located about 58 kilometers from Buenos Aires, the Lujan Zoo is reachable by bus from Plaza Italia. The trip takes about an hour and a half in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach with reclining seats. When we get dropped off on the side of the highway, don’t panic because we are in the right place. All we need to do is cross under the overpass and look for the zoo sign. Upon arrival at the Lujan Zoo, you might think you’ve come all this way to experience what might appear to be nothing more than a petting zoo, but the truckload of freshly-butchered meat passing by will make you start asking yourself questions. Rather than the standard miniature horses and timid domesticated animals you might expect, at Lujan you’ll get up close and personal with carnivorous lions, tigers and pumas, not to mention camels and elephants. The monkeys go about their day and survey the human onlookers with disinterest. One of the first cages nearest the entrance is inhabited by lion cubs as well as dogs. For the first few months, the lion cubs will learn obedience training and other important behavior from the domesticated dogs. The dogs will help the lion cubs learn to be more docile in this setting where they will interact with humans. At present there are several lion cages that you can enter, with lions grouped and separated by age. It’s interesting to see how their personalities and behavior develop. Prior to entering any of the cages, visitors are instructed not to make fast, sudden movements or excite the animals in any way. Young children/kits may enter the cage with dogs and cubs with adult supervision, but they’re not permitted to enter the cage with the adult lions. While words cannot effectively describe the Lujan Zoo, it is simply something that must be experienced to fully appreciate.
(The planes touch down & all kitties debark.) Well kitties there are Lola & the rest of the BA kitties waiting to take us to the buses that have been reserved for our trip to the beautiful & unique LUJAN ZOO. Have fun with the animals & I’ll meet you back here promptly at 7 for our return flight.

~TRIXIE'S TANTALIZING ANIMAL TALES~ March 1st
Hi Libby, I'm Zaboo's little sis Trixie & I'm running for COTM in March. Please help me with paw votes of support each day! Thank you :)

Happy March 1st everyone! It’s time to wake up because there’s a calico cyclone pouncing into your homes & my happy twirls & spins will twist you around until you’re dizzy…MOL! Most of you have watched me grow up here on CC after I was brought to my furever home on March 16, 2010. I was a wee little thing then but my catitute was already full grown & I made myself right at home in my new surroundings! And then I started pouncing around CC…MOL! Needless to say I made my catitude known around here too but you accepted me with open paws & loving furiendship that will forever be cherished. Okay…before I get teary eyed I’d better concentrate on my campaign.
To start off my COTM campaign I’m going to tell you about some of the world’s smallest animals. Please watch where you’re pouncing today & don’t swish your tails too hard so we don’t hurt any while we’re looking at them! We’ll start off with…the WORLD’S SMALLEST DOG IN TERMS OF HEIGHT: the smallest living dog is Boo Boo, a long-haired female Chihuahua who proves that good things come in small packages. Boo Boo is just 4 inches tall and weighs in at a mere 2 pounds. She lives in Raceland, Ky., with her owner. WOW…only 4 inches tall means she could be mistaken for a rodent if a cat has bad eyesight…MOL! The next dog on our visit today would have the same problem so please keep your claws retracted kitties or we could have a lawsuit on our paws! The WORLD’S SMALLEST DOG IN TERMS OF LENGTH: The smallest dog in terms of length is Heaven Sent Brandy, a female Chihuahua who measured 15.2 cm (6 in) from the nose to the tip of the tail on 31 January 2005. Brandy lives with her owner in Largo, Florida. Now we’ll move on to some petite pooches that deserve our respect for their abilities! WORLD’S SMALLEST WORKING DOG isTiny Lucy! Meet 6-inch, 2.5-pound Lucy from New Jersey who Guinness recently named the world's shortest working dog. Besides being incredibly cute and tiny, this Yorkshire terrier is also a therapy dog.
Since we started with dogs today it’s only fair for us to end with our own species…MOL! Now we move on to…the WORLD’S SMALLEST CAT: Mr Peebles, a 2 year old domestic cat of Central Illinois holds the Guinness Book of World Records award for the smallest living cat (his small stature is due to a genetic defect). Weighing in around 3lbs he is 6.1 inches high this is definitely the smallest cat I’ve ever seen! Mr. Peebles also has his own Facebook page so pounce over to check it out.

And so my first day of campaign chaos ends & the tiny dogs & cats can go back to napping. Since tomorrow is Caturday we’ll be taking off to visit a zoo someplace in the world so plan to be at the community airport early to get a good seat on one of our planes, & don’t forget to bring along your camera. ~Quick meow from Zaboo~
Just wanted to pounce by to give you a big hug & tons of friendly purrs before mom starts dinner. She finally got all of her files from her laptop converted to the desktop programs but had forgotten there would be lots of updates once things were up again...MOL! All of her security software is now up to date too but it took several restarts & most of the day to do them. Patches, Trixie, Fluffinella & I are all doing great, even though Fluffers kept me up half the night romping. The outside crew, Joseph, Monster, Sassee, & Bob, are all doing fine today too but aren't happy that it's snowing. Joseph is actually doing quite well today since mom is paying lots of attention to him & feeding him some FF so are hoping the outside rash of sickness is over. Sammie dog is fine but is getting antsy about being inside so much the last couple of days. Mom is hoping she'll be able to spend a little more time out tomorrow but that depends on the weather. Well got to run so mom can get dinner cooking & I can give her the pitiful starving kitty look as she does it...MOL! Have a great evening!

Today we're honoring beautiful young STORM FROST #244701 as our weekly special recognition candidate. Her grandma owns my furdad Champagne De Lancer but her furmom Sparkle Frost was given up for adoption. A new furmom pounced in to take her place when she miscarried her own litter & Sparkle Frost never minded that one tiny bit. This pretty little girl was even named after her adopted furmom & could pass for one of her own kittens. Like most kittens her age she passes the day by eating, sleeping & running wildly through the house as she plays wit her her other young sibs. Handsome Simba was waiting to be adopted when his future mom came looking for a female cat. He jumped right out of his cage and into her lap and she fell madly in love. He now happily lives with his new family and fursibling Percy. Simba comes when he is called and loves drinking water from your hand and doing a sit-up for treats. While he enjoys looking out the window, he gets very angry when the neighbor cat is in his view and takes it out on poor Percy. PLEASE VOTE FOR CHLOE #225879 ~ FEBRUARY 4TH
It was a very happy day for Chloe #225879 when she was rescued by her forever family! Mom found Chloe under the porch at her workplace. Chloe was taking care of a kitten, so Mom rescued them both, and named the kitten Laci. When Mom checked with the vet, she found out that they were not litter mates! Chloe is 4 months older than Laci, and has gained some weight now that she doesn’t have a little one to care for. Chloe #225879 is a very important member of her family, and she is thriving! Chloe loves to play; her favorite toys are catnip-scented pompoms, and balls that have jingle bells inside! Like many of us, Chloe’s has a least favorite activity, and that is getting her nails clipped! Her favorite places to hang out are on Mom’s lap and on top of the cat condo! Chloe’s loving family also shares their home with fursibs Charlie and Lucky! We hope you will stop by and leave a vote for sweet Chloe #225879. 1/28/13 Good Monday Morning from Barney!
Where am I?? Oh yes, sitting at the top of our tallest livingroom cat tree getting ready to dictate to mom. Hefty and Molly are at her side, hopefully checking for accuracy and details. Their eyes are closed?? must be scanning info from mom's brainwaves... The weather here is much warmer +30 with white stuff on the ground. Cold white stuff. Mom went out in the yard last night and allowed me to come out with the dogs. Super-sized flakes! Nature is amazing and all I want is to adjust the temp a bit!

Our story today is that of a cat now known as Angel Whiskers and no relationship to any CC cat here or across the Bridge. He belonged to a friend of mom's, who mom occasionally kittysits for. Mom even remembers when he was first adopted, because she was the one, who made it possible. Another lady called the rescue hotline on a night mom was checking the calls. The lady had found a handsome charcoal tuxedo, declawed cat, and was not able to keep it. She did not know what to do. Mom knew her friend Phyllis was looking for a cat and she decided to call her, before checking for a foster home. Phyllis decided to go see the cat, so she and her then young daughter went with mom the next day to see the cat and ended up taking it home. Everything worked out well, but because Phyllis had family out of town, mom promised to do any kittysitting needed.

Today's story takes place a year or two later, not sure, but in the meantime Whisker's family had also adopted a red Beta fish, we will call Finny, not remembering his real name. Whiskers loved Finny and always carefully supervised his feeding and bowl water changes. Now mom had also had occasionally Beta fish and was not worried when Phyllis asked if she could take care of Whiskers and Finny, while she was on an out of town trip to visit family. The guestroom was available and they were moved in for a week. Whiskers seemed to remember mom, who frequently visit him in his home. The problem came the next morning, when mom came in to feed both of them. Whiskers was very happy to see his food, but when mom turned to take care of Finny, He hissed and went to stand in front of the bowl to prevent mom from touching it. He was protecting his fish from mom! Mom had to back off and sit down to have a talk with him. He may have been nervous, sensing the other cats and dogs outside the room (us), but mom really believes he was protecting his fish, who he would watch for hours at a time. She had to initiate some play with Whiskers and offer him treats until he finally relaxed enough for her to approach and feed his beloved Finny. As the week progressed, mom was able to care for Finny and even change the water in his bowl, but always carefully supervised by Whiskers. What a story mom had for her friend, when she came to retrieve the pets and, would you believe, they still talk about it to this day!

So there you have it, the story for today. Have a Meowrvelous Monday!

Jakar is a handsome 3 year old who always looks good in his basic black. He was born feral, but became a beloved member of his family as a tiny kitten. He’s a fun loving guy who loves to play fetch with his pawrents, always bringing them toys to toss for him to retrieve. He also likes to wrestle with his brother Hedley who outweighs him by a lot!
He and his brothers Hedley and Neelix are active in MHL hockey and have become very good players in just a short time.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Jakar’s personality is his kindness and loyalty to his CC friends and family. Not a day goes by that you don’t see Jakar offer congratulations to his friends, bringing kind words to those who are ill or sad and supporting the CC family as a whole. Jakar is a wonderful and caring member of our CC community. Let’s show him how much we appreciate him by joining together to vote for him on Monday the 28th, to bring him his COTD badge. He certainly deserves it and his family will be so happy for him to be honored with a shiny COTD badge.

My COTD award was great. I got to meet so many wonder kitty friends and hopefully many got to meet me too. I did try to visit and get to know as many as possible. I got around 100 votes yesterday along with many comments and I think I read them all. Also I enjoyed all the special gifts and good wishes. Today we are watching Must Love Cats and Kitty City is an amazing place they have rescued around 400 cats in only one year. God bless them.

1/19/13 Good Morning & Happy Caterday!
Barney Here--- Mom has her coffee, so we are ready to go. 29 degrees here and that is supposed to be the high today. We will see. They say the winds will howl amd below zero temps are coming from Canada. What part of "We don't want it" don't they understand?

Back to Andy and Milo and a bit more info on the names. They came to us with the names, so we don't really know who named them. As far as we know, they did not come from another group, just a lady, who regularly feeds strays out of her garage. After they were returned from their first adoption, we added a CC page for them. Almost immediately we found out there were another Andy and Milo, and in MHL hockey! Hi Furrends! Mom changed our page to Handy Andy and Milo,but dropped Milo's name when he was adopted a few weeks later.

So Milo was adopted by a lady, who had had a LH Black cat before and wanted one again. She only wanted one cat and, even though Andy and Milo had come in together, mom knew Andy got along well with us and would be OK. Andy missed his friend a lot, but soon another young foster joined us and then he was happy to have a playmate. Andy still was not adopted and one day mom noticed some sores on his skin, mostly on his back legs. She brought him to our vet and she concluded he might have an allergy, possibly to fleas or food or environmental pollen, as Spring had come. He didn't go outside and no fleas were found on him. She also listened to his heart and found a heart murmur, though it was very faint. Andy was first given prednisone for the skin condition, but it did not help much. It was actually a CC friend, who suggested her cat was on another medication and mom might ask her vet to try that. The new medication did work and was reasonably priced.

It was due to Andy's heart murmur that mom decided he would stay with us. He was doing well, but she was worried that the stress of biweekly adoptions might be too much of a stress on his heart. Neither the group nor she could afford heart surgery, even if it would help, but we could provide a low stress home and lots of TLC. From Andy's behavior, he doesn't have any limitations from his health issues. He still plays rough and enjoys MHL on CC! Mom watches and loves him and gives what medications he needs. He will be with us for life, as long as he is enjoying the best quality of life we can provide.

Well, tomorrow is Sunday and we invite you to ask questions about any of our stories this week or anything else you wish to ask. We will answer, if we are able. Have a Super Caterday and enjoy whatever you wish to enjoy! Give your pawrents lots of purr therapy.
