How We Met

Their mama was semi-feral and lived in my yard. She had two litters of kittens and I kept one kitten from each litter. Ziggy was pretty sick so I decided to adopt her. Her eyes were very bad. I don't really know if it was due to infection but I suspect it was. Hot Rod was healthy when I adopted him, and he has always been a little go-getter!

Oh, yeah, Ziggy!
Mom would have SO been on her way to another vet if it had been OUR guy who gave Mikey the steroids. The worst part is, when he weighed Mikey to get the dosage right the goofy substitute vet had the scales set to metric. And all Mikey's other weigh-ins were in pounds. And when Mom was curious what the weight in pounds was and the vet did the math & realized Mike had lost two pounds since he'd been in just two months earlier, he clued in & started asking questions. Questions that he wouldn't have had to ask if he'd looked at the notes from Mikey's last visit, but he'd started a new page & didn't do it. Oh, our vet was NOT happy when he heard the whole story.

Now the substitute the year before, the one who took care of Mallow while she was sick, Mom really loved him & if he wasn't retired & just subbing part-time, she would have changed to him. And small world department, it turns out that he was the vet who took care of me when I lived with Becky before going to Calgary. Her ex's pawrents took all their pets to him for years & they really missed him when he retired.

Our guy is good, Mom's friend Linda took her kitties there for years and they were tough cases, seniors with all kinds of health issues and Linda is really into the holistic stuff. Our vet was open to it, he just wanted to keep monitoring things and Linda was okay with that because it showed that her holistic stuff was working. Her seniors crossed eventually, but they did way better for way longer than anyone would have expected.

Well geesh, if our MOMS don't know all our individual issues, no one does! Sure, some pawrents are kind of flakes, like the kind who insist their kitties are vegetarians (puh-LEEZ!) but overall the vets should listen to them over something like flea stuff. Mom put the el cheapo stuff on Mikey once and right away he started twitching around like he'd been burned. Mom washed it off him, quick! Mallow & I had the same stuff & it didn't bother us, but Mom never got it again. That was before she heard about the cheap stuff causing seizures & scary neurological stuff in some kitties, now she'd never use it even if the fleas were doing their circus act in the middle of the living room. -- Evie

Hi Hot Rod & Ziggy
Today was Autumn like around here and we thought it was gonna rain, but it never did. Just very cloudy with a little bit of sun here and there.

We had to stay locked in the house all day while mom went to work and then had her DR can read about it on the CMR!

Mom got home late and we were upset cause our dinner was late. We eat at 5:30pm and mom got home at 6pm. We gave mom funny looks and told her don't be late anymore.

She said she was sorry but her and her friend also stopped to eat dinner before coming home and we didn't get any. It was Chinese and we don't like that, so it was alright!

We are all outside right now, but we will be coming in soon cause it gets dark early now and mom brings us in when it starts to get dark so she can see us...we have a very dark yard at night.

Mom is liking her new-to-her computer desk. Very roomy with lots of room for more stuff should mom get any new stuff for it....I was already all over it and investigating it from top to bottom. I didn't jump way on top of it though, but I sniffed everything within my nose reach....have to make sure it is safe for mom you know!

Stay safe, OK..we are worried about you with them fires out there. Are they far enough away from you or can you actually see them from where you are? We are keeping your family in our purrayers!

Well, I hope you have a pawsome evening!
Stay warm

So pawsomely quiet in the house...
that I finally get to meow at everyfur!! Thank you for pouncing by to celebrate my adopty day with me on the 20th...& for the catgrats on my being COTD on the 21st! I enjoyed all of your blogs, the wonderful gifts, beautiful balloons, scrumptious goodies & your loving purrs of furiendship. Thank you SO much for sharing my 2 special days with me!!

It was a super busy weekend with the 1 year old grandson crawling all around the house but we survived...MOL! He was a very good boy the entire weekend but he's getting harder to keep up now that he's crawling so fast. He was standing on his own too so pretty soon the crawling will stop & walking/running will start. Then the real fun will begin for his mommy & daddy...MOL!
Mom managed to get her free windows 10 upgrade done while he was here but is just now getting programs installed to open her files. So far she likes it (except for the mail program) so thinks she'll keep using it instead of reverting back to her old operating system. She's already downloaded the mail program she likes, a word & excel program to open her transferred files, installed her new printer & connected everything (via cloud) to her phone to make things faster & easier. She's not sure everything is 'normal' yet but I'm sure she'll find out soon enough if she's missing anything important...MOL!

JJ has returned to the great outdoors...although reluctantly because he loved the attention he got in here...MOL! He's been staying close to home & has been avoiding Bartholomew as much as he can so hopefully he can keep himself out of trouble for a while. His fur has all grown back now that his wounds are completely healed. He's still nervous about noises & unexpected things but purrhaps that will make him more cautious about getting into or going places he isn't supposed to. Keeping my paws crossed on that one...MOL!
Our 2 outside kittens (Libby aka Nibby Libby & her brother Sundance) are doing great & are growing like little weeds. The rest of the outside crew are doing fine too but they're not liking our cooler temps this week.

Well I've got to get going for now so I can bake an anniversary cake for Fluffinella & Joey's 1st year together...& also one for mom & dad who will be celebrating 37 years of wedded bliss tomorrow too. I probably won't be doing anything but voting tomorrow but I'll be back again later in the week. Thanks again for celebrating my adopty day & COTD award winning days with me!!

Hi Ziggy and Hot Rod, & Family, It’s me Talley
We never want to think about disasters, but we need to be prepared, (or should I say Purrpared). The ‘Seniors’, Hot Rod and Ziggy, suggested that we post a blog explaining how to prepare to evacuate our homes, should it become necessary.
They are so right, with the fires raging on the west coast, and the first hurricane of the season threatening the Caribbean, and possibly the mainland US, it’s time we took a look at what we need to do.
Before I do anything else, let me post the Web Address for the ASPCA emergency preparedness Website. Everything you need to do is spelled out there;
(Please eliminate any spaces that CC puts into the web addresses) ss
What is important is that you look at it now and prepare a kit to use when you need it. Basically, you need food, water, bowls, litter and emergency supplies for at least three days. (More is better.) We’ve already discussed first aid kits, but if any of you kitties need medication, that needs to be in the kit too.
Next you need a place to stay. Not all shelters will take pets, so here is a website that provides information on pet friendly hotels:
I know it can be scary to think about having to leave your home, but just think about how scary it would be to be in your home during a fire or a hurricane or a flood. When the emergency is over, use the perishable supplies and replenish your go-kit so that you’re always prepared for the unexpected.
The family needs to be prepared, that means the whole family including the four legged members.
Thanks again to Hot Rod and Ziggy for suggesting this topic.
And now our poem;
There was a spry woman
who lived next door.
She had cats in the attic
and cats on the floor.
There were cats where she ate
and cats where she slept,
And she dearly loved all
the cats that she kept.
At night she tucked each
in a wee little bed,
But they all much preferred
to wander instead.
The ripped through the screens
and battered through holes.
They climbed up the chimney
and slid down clothes poles.
They made a great racket
and scurried around.
They jumped from the roof
to the fence to the ground.
When the night was over,
at the crack of dawn,
The cats came home
with a sigh and a yawn.
They were quiet and docile
and gentle as silk
And came a-begging
for morning milk.
The neighbors were furious,
frustrated, and frantic,
Refusing to stand for
another cat antic.
When they came to complain,
they were offered a treat.
The cats were all kittenish,
playful, and neat.
They blinked and stretched
and purred on their mats.
Who would believe
there were the same cats?
By (Dorothy Golub)

Hi Hot Rod!
Yep, that was my Dad, the Fogey Extraordinaire! And his vinyl records weren't even anything cool, like first edition Beatles or Rolling Stones. They were mostly Andy Williams, Jim Nabors, all that fogey stuff. His stamps are another story, Mom is overwhelmed when she even looks at them. There are binders and binders of stamps from different countries that he spent hours putting in there. Then there are some other things that came from his Dad's stamp collection when HE crossed. Dad always said it was worth some humanbucks even if Mom just took all the Canadian ones out and put them on letters. She's just got to tuck them a safe place and maybe someday she can get a stamp dude to look at them. If nothing else, you're right. They sure are pretty!

He used to go to the stamp shop where the guy had boxes & boxes of stamps, Dad would bring a box home and go through them to see if there were any he wanted. Angel Mallow thought those boxes of stamps were nice soft bedding material & we would find her napping in them. Thankfully she did not think they were litter boxes! -- Mike

Oh yeah
it's terrible when you are so busy you can't get to a moving card game with your own dealer to rake in the catbucks. But I did not even remember until an hour ago. (6:00)
All the gardening, reading, watching a video before it is due at the library, sleeping under the deck chair and snacking. Ho-hum.
Well this gives the others a chance to take home some loot for a change.
GTt wrote my blog for me today. She went on for so long that I had to c/p the rest of it because it was cut off.
If I had any sense I would have split it in two parts.
Well, net week is another chance.

hi Hot Rod

I have to write for UBB right now

UBB is having a serious Grumpy meltdown (it is hot here with NO Rain) with corrections and complaints he has received about the way he is running his catpaign. It sent poor UBB right over the edge. You can follow the action of the cmr page of today. he is expecting a full apology before he continues this farce.
You know how it is to be old and Grumpy!
He is changing his Cat Channel purrticipation. He wants to get his goff scores and friend's mews separated from the cotm catpaign that is filling his blog pages. One complaint is that he is deleting his messages. Really!! It's his blog page... he can't find anything.
So, he started a mew account today just for CS Goff Furiends and Families. ... the number for future ref is: 276676. Report Recaps here.
You can keep sending your votes to annoy UBB if you have to. He just paws the delete button. They are meaningless since he was already pre-selected to be June King. He plans to abdicate after the pawty. He already told them.

Actually, I think he's doing okay. I crawled under the kitchen table where he's hiding/ or sleeping and sniffed his rear. Stinky as usual.
PD Budd

Say Hi to Ziggy see you at the continued pawty.
