How We Met
He showed up in our garage. Everyday he would have more scratches on his face. Thinking he MUST belong to someone, we would pet and play but not bring him in. He had food and water if needed. Finally seeing he was not being looked after or looked for, more and more cat fights, we could not stand it any longer. Nights were turning chilly so we brought him in. He has been here for 9 years now.

Mark your calendars ...
... the pawrents will be otherwise occupied this Saturday, and it's OPEN HOUSE at my place. We will need to be organized about this as it's only a 14 hour window. There will be a committee for clean-up this time ... volunteers? I'm going through my recipes and will be baking most of the remainder of this week. There will also be heavy duty tape to patch the bouncy house. The kittens do have rather sharp claws and I want them to get the best experience they can. If you bring a toy you wish to take home with you, be sure you have some identifying mark on it ... teeth marks will NOT be accepted as proof of ownership. The pawrents head out tomorrow ...
... for a few days in a mountain community an hour from our home. They will take the grandson with them for his birthday gift which will consist of Boll Weevil hamburgers, swimming in one of the pools, soaking in one of the hot tubs, watching movies together, horseback riding through the area, more swimming, the buffet at Barona Casino on the reservation nearby ... there will be crab legs, roast beef and turkey, and many other great foods including ... TA-DA ... the Bananas Foster. Home late on Thursday.
Our neighbor will feed and care for me. I finally let him pet me the other day, so this should go well. Mom will leave one of my bowls with the right amount of my new food in it ... that way he will know just how much I get now.
I plan to take a few naps ... and party down with whoever can get here. If you need me to send the little pink plane, just say so. It will pick you up and take you back home just minutes before the pawrents return. Should work. Just help me clean up before you leave. So far they are totally in the dark about what goes on around here when they take off on me.

Some could not attend the coronation ...
... and have asked for a rerun of the flyover. Here it is:
Today the sceptor changes hands and all of CC watches the ceremony. As Queen Charlotte takes her throne, the cheering of the crowd is suddenly drowned out by the roar of 30 aircraft engines. Each plane has had its underside painted for this occasion, most of them gold, a few with jewel colors. They slowly pass overhead in the shape of a sceptor, with the jewel colors set where emeralds, rubies, sapphires and diamonds appear on the Queen's sceptor. Each pilot tips his or her hat to King Thomas as he steps aside, and to new Queen Charlotte as she steps forward into CC history. I'm still enjoying ...
... my Christmas tree. Mom left a boxtop on the floor while she was decorating last week and I have made it my own. My toys have somehow found their way into it ... Mom helped a bit, but I started that one. I curl up in here and watch the tree and the pawrents. Mom said she will put a small towel in the bottom of it so I get a bit more warmth from lying here.
Miss Cherish is definitely gaining a bit of weight on the new food. Her backbone was terribly prominent and now I need to really feel for it. I thank God for His help, as I prayed one night for help in finding the right food ... the next day we found Innova cat food in chicken flavor. Bought the large, dogfood size cans, and she eats one every three days. This is a BIG STEP for us. With her being nearly 16 years old, I worry about losing her prematurely due to an error on my part. She feels better ... I feel better. Sigh.
The only family member to visit the house this year was Mom's grown daughter. She spent two nights and was very surprised to not only see me not running to hide, but she was able to pet me. After 12 years, I've given up on the "ghost kitty" persona and decided to get to know some of my family. They are nice. I like them and they think I'm a pretty girl. Very perceptive of them, right?
Mom is hoping to keep the tree into the new year, having purchased it later this time. Previously, we would have a dry stick by Christmas Day.

Tonight's the night ...
... soon the Royal pilots will head for the North Pole and the beginning of a very, very long trip. Our many and multi-colored lights will virtually light up the night as we accompany a certain reindeer-pulled sleigh on its appointed rounds. Be sure the milk and cookies are waiting by the stockings-hung-with-care, and watch for us in the night sky over your home.
Mom and I have lovingly wrapped a special gift for each of you. It is a big box of "dreams come true" and "if I only had one wish" items. May you enjoy them now and throughout the coming year.Come visit me, Q. Cherish - COTM March 2012.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE-Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the RAINBOW BRIDGE. There are meadows & hills for all our special friends so they can run & play together. There is plenty of food, water & plenty of sunshine,and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals that had been ill & old are restored to health & vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole & strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days & times gone by. The animals are happy & content, except for one thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops & looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent,his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group,flying over the grass faster & faster. You have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. love the photos.i am glad to hear from you,hope all is good with you. i haven't forgotten all my CC friends either, my mom just not the same since i left her, plus she had a brain tumor removed three weeks ago, just not right three months before that losing her memory and all, so since she is home for over short term sick leave she can get back in to my site. she does miss all of you too. she is doing great, had a tumor where is the best place in the front of the head, so it didn't effect her motor skills. thank you for the kisses they are well welcome.late but sending you Valentine fish cakes.
my home cats are doing good, the sisters noodles/ninja arn't really growing, tigger is huge really pretty. he rules the house. sparkles still in and out of the house catching little animals out side. she is my hunter. “THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS-GMG VERSION”
‘Twas the night before Christmas at the GMG’s house
None of us were stirring, not even a mouse;
Our stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that Santa Cat would soon be there;
We kitties were nestled all snug in our beds,
While visions of “Greenies” danced in our heads;
With Mom fast asleep and Dad out like a light,
They had just settled down for the long winter’s night.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
What appeared next (we had to look twice)
‘Twas a miniature sleigh and eight tiny field mice,
With a little old driver, so frisky and fat,
We knew in a heartbeat it must be Santa Cat!
More rapid than eagles the flying mice came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name;
“Now Mickey! Now Minnie! Now Fievel and Pixie!
On Stuart, on Jerry, on Speedy and Dixie!
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the housetop, the mice coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of cat toys and Santa Cat too.
And then, in a twinkling, we heard on top of the house
The prancing and pawing of each little mouse.
As we drew in our heads and turned quickly around,
Down the chimney Santa Cat came with a bound.
He had the most beautiful fur, from his head to each foot,
And his red suit was tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of cat toys, he had flung over his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! His whiskers how merry!
His cheeks were small furballs, his nose like a cherry!
His cute little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the “bib” under his chin was a white as the snow;
A sprig of catnip he held tight in his teeth,
And the aroma encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a friendly face and a little round belly
That shook when he purred like a bowl of catmint jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old kitty;
And we laughed when we saw him--we could tell he was witty.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave us to know we had nothing to dread;
He meowed not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all our stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his paw aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He spring to his sleigh, to his team gave a shout
And away they all flew before we could follow them out.
But I heard him meow as he drove out of sight
Meowy Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!

Hello Danny!
This morning I decided to sit on Mamas head and knead it to make it a bit softer. It did not work. Mama has a very hard head it seems to me. She also did not much appreciate my "head message". Hee, hee. Humans can be VERY odd. It had snowed in the night and the whole world was somewhat white. I guess you call it a "dusting" of snow. What a waste of poetical language. Whet and mucky is more like it. Leaving you a warm blanket and hot shrimp balls. Hello Danny and family!
It is fall. It is noticeable in every way. The weather is cooler, the vegetable garden looks like it is dying,(thank goodness, can't see the point of it anyway), and the light is different. My Mama has a new parrot. Like the ones she had before was not enough! Another African Grey named Pepper. She was not going to get another bird, but someone had to give it up due to health problems (they were crying and very upset) and Mama could not say no. The vet had recommended the owners to ask Mama to take him. I'm sending the vet an official complaint. Hope he shakes in his boots. Hee, hee. Mama says the bird is very sweet, I say he is dinner. Mama also rescued a squirrel. HELP!! She is nuts!!! Well sorry for all the depressing news, but such is life. I, at least, am the only one who stay in Mamas bed. Oh, yea... Our condolences for your loss.
I have had to endure Mama having a cleaning attack! She cleaned everything. I told her she was being annoying, but she only told me to get out of the way! Can you believe it!! Insulting. HUMPH! Double HUMPH! I walked out,(with great dignity and poise), and sat pouting on my arbor. I hope she has finished, so that I can take up residence on my bed again. MOL! Hello Danny and family!
Hope all is well with you and yours!! It was awhile. It has been an unusually cold spring here and I have been forced to go out in the rain on several occasions!! Can you believe it! (Mama is telling me to tell you that she did not force anycat to go out. She says it was all my own doing. HUMPH!) Anyway, it has warmed up and now the garden has been planted, giving me plenty of soft cushy beds to sleep on. MOL

From Duckie's Desk: Have you met Angel Pogo, #107374? Pogo was left behind under a house when the family moved. A friend told her future forever Mom about her and she said she would adopt her. She was filthy, had horrible fleas , her eyes were crusted shut and ears full of mites. Her Mom took her to the vet and left her for the day. She didn't even know what color she was at the time. When she went to pick her up that day, they brought out the most beautiful calico Manx kitten who grabbed her Mom around the neck and never let go. Pogo lived a full life and crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 17 years of age! The last two years have flown by for Angel Pogo. She played one season in the MHL where she met Angel Rambo. The two were married recently uniting two families and they now reside at the High Mountain Ranch with their adopted kitten, Boo. This loving family is very active at the Rainbow Bridge and on Cat Channel. It's beautiful here today in Western New York, although it's supposed to be a scorcher! Mom planted some tomatoes and corn, so we are excited about them and will have to go out and water later on today. Perhaps after my catpaign has come to an end this month, I will add some human recipes next month. Mom loves to bake and cook, and even makes her own bread by hand when she can. Our tax man is paid in enchiladas, which is what he asks for in lieu of money! They are a heart attack on a plate though, with all the cheese. Mom has lots of things she makes that are really easy and fast, and the one that comes to mind right now is a fantastic cake made from scratch with Cream Cheese Icing! It's the BEST and EASIEST cake you will ever taste and make! She can't do it everyday, but once in awhile next month. Would you like that? Let me know. Now for today's kitty recipe:
FABULOUS FISH BALLS
3 baby carrots, cooked until soft
16 oz canned tuna in olive oil, drained
2 oz cooked herring, skin removed
2 tbl whole grain bread crumbs or oatmeal
2-3 tbl grated cheese
2 tsp brewer's yeast
Several pinches of chopped catnip
1 egg, beaten
2 tbl tomato paste (not ketchup)
Preheat the oven to 350*. Mash the carrots with the fish, bread crumbs or oatmeal, cheese, brewer's yeast, catnip, egg and tomato paste to an even paste. Mold into small balls and put on a greased baking tray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, checking frequently: the fish balls should be golden brown and feel firm. Cool thoroughly.

A precious friend of ours passed to the Bridge yesterday. She is on the DC and her name is Angelina #16519, could you please say a prayer for her family? They are devastated. Also, please pray for our sick kitty families and keep them wrapped in love in your heart. Happy Birthday, Adoptiversary, Bridge Anniversaries etc., to all celebrating! Thanks so much for your continued support for my catpaign. I just can't believe the number of votes and that the month is almost over already! I love and appreciate you all!
