Nicknames: Cottie, "C", C-Tang (his gangsta name lol), C-Bear, BabyBoy, Cottay, Devil Cat

Coat: short haired

Education: Cotton is a dare-devil. He is afraid of nothing and as curious as they come. He is an awesome athlete. He loves to play "fetch" with his toy foil balls. He literally fetches and brings it back and drops it so u will throw it again. He has excellent balance and jumps high. Cottie has also learned many hand signals. Cottie is deaf. Which makes all of the above things even more incredible. Cottie is also a watch-cat. He alerts us by a certain, loud meow, when anyone is approaching our front door.

My favorite tricks and treats are: He is just amazing in everything he does. Brave and courageous and a bit of an acrobat too. He knows hand signals, recognizes training aids. He recognizes the laser by the chain, way before he sees the red light. He sees the laser and automatically begins looking everywhere for the dot. He's so intelligent. "C" loves to talk! He is so vocal and will talk your ear off if u let him. At times, I could swear that he said, "Mom". But usually its.."NOW" or "WHAT?" lol... and Half and half. He knows that around 10 pm at night to start asking for his cream. He will meow continuously until you serve him the icecold light cream. He even shares this treat with others.

Where I hang out: Everywhere! Anywhere there is a human companion. The bay window in the sunshine. Mommy's bed and anywhere with running water.

My favorite grubs: He likes his dry food. Not much for canned food though. He loves chicken!! He gets his own plate of white meat chicken whenever he can.

My pet peeves: Cottie is a grand personality! He loves water and isn't shy about it. He will play at the faucet, chasing water drops or jumps in the shower with you if u let him. He has a very loud voice, since he can't hear himself due to his deafness.

What I love about my owners: She knows of my disability and still loves me unconditionally- . She works hard to provide stimulating, interactive activities to make up for my deafness. And I get my bowl of cream each and every night!!

My cat hobbies: Cottie just loves life. He is overly friendly and wants to play all the time. He is facinated by everything. He likes toys, lasers, television, computer monitors, wash machines, dryers, boxes, dresser drawers, fingers, hands etc.lol He seems to enjoy giving love bites too. If he doesn't want to be bothered, he is not shy about letting you know. But he's so cute, you just love to be around him. He loves to chase shadows and reflections on the walls and ceilings. Most times, u can hear him talking to them whenever he sees the lights. He loves to be mischevious and keeps all the other kitties on their toes. He is always into something or teasing the others. Cottie loves to play "backscratcher"- . We have an old wooden backscratcher that he loves to attack when u slide it under pillow cases or pillows. He will play for hours stalking and attacking the backscratcher from all angles. Cotton loves to meow alot. He will meow loudly for as long as it takes for you to give him what he wants. It sounds like he's verbalizing, "NOW!!" lol

How We Met

After all the years of rescue work and spending all of my life with animals, I still had a dream of sharing my life with an all white cat someday. As an animal rescue worker, I'd helped many many of God's beautiful creatures. With looming health problems, I had to cut my workload back a great deal, and I was thinking I'd never get my white cat. I found an ad in a local paper for a white kitten and called right away. A rescue organization had saved two white kittens from the city animal shelter, both with skin problems and upper respiratory infections. After treating the brothers, the boys were placed up for adoption, and I was one of the people interested. Once I began to tell the rescue worker about me, my work, etc., she let me see the boys. I did not know until I arrived that one of the boys was diagnosed with 100% deafness. Both boys were beautiful. The deaf cat was full of mischief and strong vocals. The other had patches of fur here and there due to a dermitological allergy. The choice was not easy. Looking back, I wish I could have adopted them both, but unfortunately, we were unable to at that time. Cotton and I bonded immediately. My choice to adopt him came from a deep sense of protection. I know how cruel people can be, and I couldn't bear for this little deaf cutie pie to wind up outside somewhere facing all sorts of environmental hazards. I knew that his brother would have better odds of surviving a healthy relationship with an owner since he didn't present as much of a challenge. I knew that as long as Cotton was with me, I would give him that extra ounce of care and would be sure to make a safe, loving, and most of all, a permanent home. Special needs animals need that special someone who will go the extra mile to ensure their safety, happiness and overall well-being. Cotton is my baby boy and he has made this human's dream come true.
