well queen josiemae is taking time off the blog trail today so maybe we can get some done today.
the temp at my earth home this morning was 29 with snow flying and then for sunday is to be 64!!!!! georgia has had some crazy weather this winter.

it is very windy today so lets just stay in if u want and i can fix us some mousechili and we can watch movies or play games and have some good hot toddies later, and we can talk about what we can do to help queen josiemae decorate the maison de josiemae (castle) for st patrick's day.

angel ping and et have dropped a gopher in the crock pot for gopher stew and are gonna also fix soupy mouse gravy and catnip biscuits and want us angels to stay for supper and come on over now as it is a cold day and they have catpresso cocoa and a variety of hamster cookies for now. they said they will be off line for a few days as their momma has some kind of project going on

is a glum rainy day here in georgia today, but at least we still here to see it . is gonna be a cold one with the high only in the low 40's and rain till tomorrow at least.

WELL ONE MORE DAY OF GOOD RECIPES AS I COULDNT LEAVE THESE GOOD ONES HERE OUT

Okay here we go with more of the good mountain cooking

BLACK BERRY COBBLER

enough black berries for a pie maybe a gallon or so.
sugar to taste, small amt of butter,
biscuit dough, enough for a bunch of biscuits
cook the blackberries until they come to a boil sweeten to taste,then add some butter. cook until thick. roll out the dough cut as for biscuitsand drop into the berries. the roll some dough thin and cut into strips and place on top of the berries. put in oven until the crust on top is brown.

SWEET POTATOE PIE

2 cups sweet taters diced and cooked. 1/2 cup sweet milk, pinch of salt, 2/3 cup molasses, biscuit dough, 1/2 tsp ginger, other spices if desired and 1/2 stick butter.
mix together all the ingredients except the dough and bring to a boil cut rolled dough into cubes and drop into the boiling mixture. put thin slices of dough on top and bake until crust is brown

FRIED PUMPKIN/SQUASH BLOSSOMS

make a thin batter using an egg, bout half cup of flour and milk. dip the blossoms in it and fry in hot grease. serve as u would any vegetable.

LIGHT BREAD

1 cake yeast 2 med taters, 3 tsp sugar, 2 tsp salt, 1 pint warm water , flour
dissolve the yeast in 1 cup of the water. cook the taters, mash very fine and add yeast along with 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and the rest of the water. put in a jar and leave in a warm place to rise. sift flour and mis it in with the yeast mixture along with 1 more tsp salt and 2 more tsp sugar. keep adding flour until it makes a firm dough. let rise to double, knead and make into loaves. let it rise for 1 hour and then bake at 350 until it tests done by poking a toothpick in and it comes out clean

Happy belated Valentine´s Day for you all!! Mom said she would help us to catch up in our kitty blogs this evening.
It has been hot and wet over the past days and we are waiting to have some rains soon.
Since we´re officially done with the baby-sitting of doggies and kitties for this season, Mom said it was time to clean up our house yesterday morning. I was having my napp, dreaming of mice and catnip when the mischievous lady came with her awful vacuum cleaner and woke me up!! That was rude of her. I hate that thing.
It eats everything on its way, including mousie toys. I hiss to it.
I hope so much you have a purrfect week. Here I send you a huge bunch of whiskers kisses and hugs...

Hi all kitties. Well here we are to continue this hillbilly way article on moonshine

HOW THE BESTOF THE BEST WAS MADE

For this section, two men who are reputed to have made some of the best to come out of Georgia tell how they did it

Go to the wood and find a good place. Make a mudhole which contains plenty of good thick red clay for use in the furnace. Also construct any water lines needed for the flake stand
Choose the corn. Do not use a hybrid or yellow corn. Use a good fresh pure white corn which will produce about 3 quarts of whiskey per bushel. Get nine and a half bushels.
Put at least a bushel and half of corn aside to sprout
In winter, put this corn in a barrell or tub, add warm water, and leave it for 24 hours. Then drain it and move it to the sprouting tub. Cover it with pretty warm water, leave it for 15 minutes and drain the water off. Put the tub close to a stove and turn the cold side to the stove at least once a day and so on
In summer simply put the corn out in the sun in tow sacks and sprinkle warm water over them once a day and flip the sacks over.
Take the remainder 8 bushels of corn to be ground up. Take this meal to the woods the last 3 or 4 days should have been spent building the furnace and installing the still. Build a fire under the still. Fill it nearly full with water and stir in a half bushel of corn meal. When it comes to a boil, let it bubble for 35 to 40 minutes. Cook it wll or it will puke too much when cooking later. When it has cooked sufficiently, bring one of the barrels over. Put it under the slop arm of the still, push in the plug stick and let the contents of the still fill the barrel. Add a gallon of yet uncooked meal and let the hot contents of the barrel cook it alone. Make sure it is stirred in well. Move the barrel aside and repeat the whole process until all the meal is cooked, and all 7 barrels are filled. Go home.

HOME REMEDIES
Blood builders:
When the sap is up, take the green bark of the wild cherry tree and boil it to make tea

Take leaves of the lady’s slipper, dry them, and beat them to a powder ( u can wrap them in a rag to do this). Put this powder into a can, add water, let sit and them give a spoonful three times a day.
Take the young leaves of the poke plant, parboil them, season, fry and the eat several messes
Make sassafras tea using the roots of the plant
Put some yellowroot in a quart can of whiskey and let the root soak it up. U can add some cherry bark for flavor

BROKEN ARM

Make a mixture of red clay and water. Put splints on each side of the arm and plaster it up with the clay. When the clay dries, put the arm in a sling

BURNS

Put hot coals on the burned place and pour water over them. The steam will draw the fire out
Powder hot coals and put this warm powder on the burn.
Take table salt and dissolve it in warm water. Wrap the burn in gauze and keep it constantly warm and moist with applications of the salt water.
Boil chestnut leaves and place the resulting ooze on the burn.
Bind castor oil and egg whites around the burn with a clean cloth
The scrapings of a raw white tater will draw the fire
Linseed oil will draw out the fire
Scrape the inside of a white potato. Put the scrapings on the burn and leave them there until they turn black and the burn turns white.

that was funny about your having a small head and a big back end and 16 pounds!! WHEN i went to the VET LAST mONTH THEY CLAImEd I weigh 17# That's impossible. I just have a small head and very round body. You must have been very patient. I never ever let mom put clothes on me like you have those Santa clothes on yourself./

I've been here at the Bridge 9 years now, and my humans still remember me fondly and miss me sometimes. It was very hard for my Big Bro Joe to let me go because we grew up together and he was sad for a long time afterward. He still says there'll never be another cat quite like me, and he's right (in my humble opinion). I hope to not see him here for a long, LONG time, but he's the one I'll be especially watching for when that time comes. Aren't we a couple of lucky Angels to have been loved that well? Hi Rocky's Mom Kathy,
I know how very much you are missing your sweet babies, for me joining CC has truly been a life saver over the crushing depression I was experiencing having had to go through it so many times in a short period of time. We lost the majority of them in the last five or six years. All of them have taken a piece of my heart with them and will never be forgotten. I too tried hard to remember all the wonderful times I had with them and forget the bad parts. Are you able to open your heart to a new Kitty???, It has helped me alot. Please stop any time we love to have visitors!!!

Good Morning
Kathy, I know how difficult it is to lose a loved one. I lost three kitties over the past two years and there are certain things I do that remind me of them everyday. Katie would always reach out and touch me if she was not getting enough attention or give a loving nip. Frannie used to wait until I was done brushing my teeth so she oculd lick the water off the brush and Bobble would jump up to snuggle the minute I sat down on the couch at night. I cherish the happy memories and over time it gets a little easier:) Lisa

I was a rescue, you can read about my story in my scrapbook, and at the shelter they gave me the name, Felix . Well, Dad's youngest niece has always had the honor of naming all the kitties in our families. She loved Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, and thought I was more of a Neelix! Yep, the family agreed, and that was that! Now, can you try to guess the source of my housemates names? Hedley and Jakar? Bet you can't! ( hint, Jakar's origin is spelled differently)

The temperature was high 54 & low was 43 this morning, now it's 51 with humidity 71% & wind is 0 MPH. Friday's suppose to be Partly Cloudy & High 44.

♥ JAZPYR here again tonight!
Mom forgot to write in last night's message as Dr. Liz wants mom to try & get a urine sample as she wants to re-test it due to not enough urine was in my bladder when I was there. Mom's been waiting all day for me to go potty & told dad to watch for me, too. So far I've not went as I've been asleep lots today. Maybe I'll wait til they go to sleep! MOL!

♥ OMG! Mom did it! She took me into the bathroom this morning after she had her toast & milk! She picked me up & put me in a Rubbermaid tub of soapy water that then laid me in it. She even poured Dawn dish soap mixed with Flea & Tick shampoo for Cats on my body & started scrubbing gently my fur with her fingers! I meowed, but she wouldn't stop! She said it will kill what fleas I had on me plus their droppings out of my fur. Once she was done & rinsed me off, she then had to "wring out my fur" & towel dried me then came a blow dryer of hers. After all done, she told me I was such a good boy & how proud she was of me. I gotta admit, I do feel much better & cleaner. Now I'm sleeping on dad's clean bed!

♥ Afterwards, mom told dad she was going to give Callie 239447 a bath & sure enough, that's what mom did. She got the same treatment as me, & mom also told Callie how proud she was of her for being such a good girl! That was Two Cat in One Day!

♥ Mom did get lots of pictures of our baths this morning, but has not had time to edit nor post them so they will be posted another day & we will let you know when they're available!

♥ Mom also washed & dried about 6 loads of laundry which included dad's flannel sheets, pillow cases & comforter. She also has everything put away plus she made Spaghetti for dinner. Mom's pretty tuckered out now! MOL!

You are most welcome for the rememberance of your crossing anniversary. It's so important that we all remember all of our angels. We don't think there are many on CC who haven't lost furbabies at one time or another. We lost 2 last September. Tom, who was FIV+, but not on CC and our 14 year old doggy, also named Rocky, who had bladder cancer. All of our angels are missed so much. Most of us know the pain of losing them and we can feel your pain, too! Only the fact that we know we'll be reunited someday, makes it bearable. We hope you are feeling better today. It gets a little easier with the passing of time. The wounds are healed, but the scars remain. Take care and have a good evening. We love you and we're leaving you another vote!

Thank you everyone for remembering Rocky's crossing one year ago yesterday. It was a hard day for me because all I can focus on right now are the losses in my life. It made me happy to know that there are people and kitties out there who care and know the pain of loss. I don't spend much time here, since I've only got angels here now, and it brings me pain. Maybe someday I'll do profiles for Michu (my cat) and Boots (my dad's new "cat who came for Christmas"). Thank you all again, for remembering my Rock. He was such a good friend, none of my other cats were like him. God, I miss him so much! Hugs to all and prayers for good health for kitties and their families. Kathy

592 HONORING YOUR 1 YEAR FOREVER SLEEP ROCKY

The temperature was high 52 & low was 41 this morning, now it's 51 with humidity 85% & wind is 6 MPH SE. Thursday's suppose to be Mostly Cloudy & High 47.

♥ Good Evening friends! JAZPYR here tonight!
Mom loaded me up in the carrier [unwillingly & with a fight] then took me out to the car and told me she'd be right back. She had the nerve to go back in the house and quickly gave the other inside kitties their food and had dad pick up their dishes after they were done. Well anyways, I meowed all the way to the vets.

♥ Dr. Liz was checking my eyes, ears heart, tummy, took my temperature and said they were all good, but then looked in my mouth and seen I have a bad tooth in the back and showed mom. Then Dr. Liz started checking me for fleas when mom told her that I still have some, but had been treated with Frontline for Dogs. Dr. Liz said she wanted to see if it was working and sure enough, the fleas aren't so active on me. She suggested to give me a bath which mom had already been thinking about so she just confirmed what mom was thinking. I weighed in at 21.8 lbs which means I gained 8 oz in nine months.

♥ The Tech took me to do blood work and a urinalysis. Dr. Liz called mom a couple hours later and said my blood work looks purr*fect and no Diabetes. She's still waiting for my thyroid test to come in. Looks like mom was just being paranoid! MOL!

♥ Mom washed TC's and Sissee's comfy beds that’s in the back room then after mom & dad had their purr*sonal Bible Study, mom took the two comfy beds and Carly's bed out to wash as well. Mom will probably store Carly’s bed in case another doggie is adopted into our family.

♥ Mom changed my profile photo late last night to an updated one plus she also added a picture in my gallery of my littermate sister Toebee's picture from her 1st vet visit last week.

I just wanted to stop by and honor you on your crossing anniversary. It's been a long year for your family since you left them, I'll bet. They must still miss you terribly. I know we still miss our Rocky!
