Hello friends! We did it! Thank you all so much for voting me COTM for September. It was lots of fun and I really enjoyed stopping in all your towns and meeting so many of you in person. It was an experience I shall never forget. Princess Lee presented me with a beautiful crown and I am wearing my badge everyday this month. Mom surprised me with some new toys and a 12 pack of Elegant Medleys, the Florentine collection is my favorite. I sure have made alot of new friends this past month and I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to join my Mouse Hockey league. Sam steps up to the podium in Trenton New Jersey with the Governor and his wife Oreo standing behind him and makes his final speech of the Catpaign....Tonight Oreo and I will be home watching the election returns. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support this month. We enjoyed traveling to 49 of the 50 states and Canada. Oreo and I will make it to Hawaii and visit the shelters on the islands sometime in September. We had a wonderful day in San Diego and you can read about our day by going to page #46883 and read the blogs parts one thru three. It was quite a day and we want to thank our hosts Sabrina, Reggie, Nellie and The Exotic Bunch for showing us around the city. We also want to thank each and every one of you for coming by my page everyday and leaving me a vote. I am proud to be a member of cat channel and proud to call each of you my friends. Together we can make a difference in the lives of shelter and feral kitties so remember to support the shelters and other worth while organizations in your communities. In closing, let me just say that I came from a humble background, my mom found me in a tiny cage in a pet store when I was almost three years old. That was the lowest point in my life, I felt that I was all alone and unloved. My good friend Buddy #69967 let me borrow a page from his diary about our day. Hope you like it....Thanks for your support! Love Sam & Oreo.......Pennsylvania blog from Buddy's diary...... The private jet touches down at the Reading, Pa airport and to greet Sammy and Oreo are Buddy, Robby, Roo, Max and Snowball….the entire Pa Pawsee….They hug Sammy and Oreo. “Welcome to our home state of Pennsylvania” the Pawsee says. Since time is limited, they immediately get on a bus for Philadelphia which is only about an hours ride. When they arrive in Philly Buddy wecomes his guests to “The City of Brotherly Love”, and the home of the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Club, he adds. He then surprises them by taking everyone to “Benny The Bums Crabhouse”, a well know NE Philly eatery, for dinner where they dine from a vast seafood menu….After dinner they visit the Liberty Bell, The Betsy Ross House, Independence Hall, the famous Philadelphia Art Museum where Rocky ran up the steps in the movie…After everyone had enough site seeing for the evening they returned to Birdsboro to visit the Animal Rescue League where Buddy and the Pawsee were all resided for a time while waiting to be adopted…Buddy must have called ahead because Sammy and Oreo were expected and given the grand tour upon arrival. They toured the clinic and surgical area as well as the cat and dog kennels and they even got to see a llama who lived there….Sam and Oreo were really impressed with the cleanliness of the kennels. Also, the staff was very strict on who could adopt their animals. You had to meet certain criteria or you could not adopt, which is a good thing. The staff talked to Sam and Oreo about the new animal rights legislation that hopefully will be passed by the Pa. House. HR 2525, also know as the Puppy Mill Bill is one such piece of legislation that is really needed, they tell Sammy. Unfortunately, we still have some so-called breeders in our area who run nothing but puppy mills and they must be stopped…Sam and Oreo were shocked at the number of puppy mills that the staff said were still around. Sad, very sad, both Sam and Oreo agreed. ..Everyone had some light snacks before leaving the Rescue League, which we didn’t need afer our big dinner, but they did taste good. We thanked the staff at the Animal Rescue League. Next, everyone toured the Reading/Berks Area Humane Society and then the Exeter Animal Hospital. Both places were quite impressive and informative. After that everyone headed back to the airport so Oreo and Sam could proceed to their next destination. The Pawsee hugged both Oreo and Sammy and thanked them for coming to visit. We had a great evening and hope you did too, Buddy says. Sammy and Oreo both told Buddy and the Pawsee how much they enjoyed their visit to the Keystone State. The dinner and the tours of Philadelphia and all the animal facilities were both enjoyable and educational. They hug again, then Sam and Oreo board the jet waving goodbye to their friends… Come visit me, Percival...., Benjamin..., Angel Sam..., Riley... & Sarahjayne....

The private jet touches down and there on the tarmac to greet Sam & Oreo are their good friends Nappy and Mittens. Nappy and Mittens run to greet Sam and Oreo as they exit their plane! Hugs are exchanged between all! They are whirled away on a private doubledecker bus for a picnic in beautiful Springbank Park where they relax and unwind by the river. They watch the beautiful Canadian Geese floating downstream and then they take a stroll to the famous Storybook gardens. They stop by the mini chapel and say a prayer for their friend Buddy and his siblings Sylvester and Jinx and all wipe tears away. Mitt loves the gardens and Sammy likes the animals! He wishes he could stop and go down the big slides but Oreo takes him by the paw and tells him we have to go to the shelters now Sam! They head over to the London Humane Society and Nappy tells them the story of where he was adopted. "This is the shelter where Mom adopted me from, it's the local shelter, mainly non profit". Sam was impressed with how very clean everything was and the animals looked very friendly and well taken care of. Nappy continued, "Every cat gets the care and respect they deserve! They do animal rescue and deal with animal cruelty and educate the public. They rely on public donations to keep going, all pets are spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they are adopted. They also have special fees for low income people as well. They are very strict about which families they adopt out to". Sam visited some of the kitties and shook hands with the staff, he was well received in Canada. Then they visited a cat hospital and an emergency cat clinic. They welcomed Sam's ideas to cut their vet costs down. Sam was happy to hear a special price was given for low income families so as to keep the pet population down with spaying and neutering. Sam shook paws with some of the sick kitties and they smiled at him. The staff thanked Sam for coming and then Nappy surprised Sam, Oreo and Mitt with a deluxe dinner cruise along the Thames river with a prime rib and fish dinner and relaxing music and wine. Sam and Oreo thanked Nappy and Mittens for showing them around London Ontario and for their hospitality. Sam tells Nappy he will compare the Canadian and American shelters ideas and incorporate the best of both into his reformation shelter plan . After supper Nappy and Mitt take Sam and Oreo back to the airport so they can get ready to head for beautiful British Columbia. Wonderful seeing you again Sam and Oreo says Nappy and Mitt and they hug them and wave goodbye! What a wonderful day it has been with our friends says Nappy to Mitt as they stroll paw in paw back to the car! Sam & Oreo arrived in Vancouver BC a short while later where they visited more shelters and pet hospitals and then got back on their jet and are currently in flight to Michigan where they will be visiting the Lentz Zoo and their good friends Kelsee & family in Detroit tomorrow. Hello to all our friends. What an exhilirating night we shared with our friends Gin Gin and Bandito. We filled sandbags and placed them around shelters and pet hospitals and delivered fresh water and kibble to as many families that we could reach. The work was hard and tiring but it was the kind of work that made you feel good. Bandito treated us all to a wonderful dinner at Flounders on the beach. Gin Gin, Oreo, Bandito and I had a wonderful time relaxing after a hard days work. Today our catpaign brings us to Illinois and Wisconsin where we have met some wonderful friends. In Illinois Chloe #22891 proudly showed us around Schumburg and Etta #57590 and family hosted a special pancake breakfast where I was the guest of honor, boy those were some good pancakes in Bradley, IL. Then it was off to Wisconsin where our good friends Angel Sammy #80362 & family showed us around Port Washington. I gave a speech on spaying and neutering and the pro's and con's of declawing cats to a large audience. I met several other friends in the large crowd. Jessie #56226 and family from Beloit were there and we made lots of new friends before the day was over. Were in flight right now to Alaska where we will catpaign in the morning then we will be spending the day with Nappy #68109 and he will take us around London Ontario Canada. I'm hoping to learn some valuable information from our Canadian friends on how they run their shelters and hospitals and hope that through a sharing of ideas we can improve the shelter standards for American and Canadian cats and dogs. As we begin the final week of August, lets all remember to stop by Princess Lee our August Queens page #4817 and congratulate her again on becoming the August Queen. She has reigned the month of August with a soft paw and gentle purrs making all of us so happy to know her and have her as our Queen. I'm looking out the window of our plane and I see beautiful glaciers below. COTM Catpaign news part 2...
What a whirlwind day! Sammy and Oreo's flight had to circle for an hour in Atlanta before landing because of the high winds, but they touched down safely, and Gin Gin and Bandito were there to meet them with hugs and flowers. First off, they visited the chapel of the church near Gin Gin's. There the four friends knelt and each one lit a candle for Angel Buddy and said their silent, heartfelt prayers for comfort for his family and dear fursiblings, Sylvester and Jinx. They proceeded to The Flying Biscuit for a Southern breakfast where the biscuits were, as advertised, the size of cat heads. It was Oreo's first taste of grits. She delicately pushed her portion onto Sammy's plate:), but Gin Gin and Bandito lapped theirs up. Sammy met and greeted many in-town Atlantans in this dog-friendly neighborhood. He impressed them greatly with his plea for more cat rescue programs and free clinics for needy cats. Gin Gin and Bandito pulled him away and GG's Dad drove them to the nearby MLK Memorial Museum, where they paid tributes to the late Martin Luther King, Jr. Gin Gin's Mom then drove the foursome to PAWS Atlanta, where GG's parents volunteer. They were greeted at The Cat Cottage by a marching band, led by Spike Finch look-alike, shelter cat Lloyd. Oreo graciously gave her flowers to Firebird and Mallory--two of the "older lady" residents in the Cat Cottage. Sam visited every room and even the Sick Bay and shook each and every paw. He then delivered a moving speech to the staff, promising funds for medical care for special needs kitties and enlightening them about nursing home residence programs for cats. The staff was greatly moved, and the shelter kitties hugged and nose-kissed all four of their visitors. The foursome were then swept off to Charlie Brown Airport to catch the CC jet to Augusta, where the Georgia Gang met them and took them on the famous River Walk. It will be a short visit there because Bandito has made dinner reservations at Flounders on the beach in Pensacola, and they must rest and clean up. The high winds are making the flight a little scarey, but most of the rain has moved on. Gin Gin's parents waved good-bye and wish them all a safe flight and great fun in Florida! COTM Catpaign news part 1...
Hello everyone and happy Saturday to one and all. Oreo and I are in flight right now to Georgia to meet our good friends Gin Gin & Bandito. Were looking forward to spending the day with our favorite Georgia peach and her beau and later we will be paying a visit to the Georgia Gang who want to show us around their town as well. Oreo and I had a wonderful stay in New England the past few days. Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting our good friends Shadow and Chico in Wallingford Connecticut. They took us to lunch at the Captains table and it was great! I give it 4 purrs and highly reccomend it to anyone looking for some great seafood. We then visited the local Shelter where Chico was adopted...I have to say I was a little taken back at the warm reception I received while visiting. It seems that Chico had told them about my visit and the shelter kitties put up welcome signs and even had a cake for me that said, Good Luck Sammy! It was very humbling to receive so much from kitties who had so little. Shadow and Chico have invited Oreo and I to come back in October to attend the 3rd annual Fur Ball, in which the proceeds will be used to build a new shelter. Tomorrows Washington Post Headline....SAMMY SETS WASHINGTON DC ON IT'S EAR....The Senate was rocked today by the charismatic COTM nominee, Samuel Dallas Houston, from Port Orchard Washington. Sammy went before the Senate today to speak on behalf of all cats and dogs about safety standards for pet foods...With his wife seated in the gallery for support, the young politician gave what was probably the most important speech of his young political career...Sammy is seated at a table with a microphone directly in front of him. He clears his throat and begins: Thank you Vice President Cheney and Senators...Thank you for inviting me here today to offer my opinons on FDA safety standards for the ingriedients used to make pet foods. First of all, I would like to say that I am grateful for the steps taken since tens of thousands of cats and dogs were sickened or died from eating tainted pet foods. A good friend of mine Spike Finch was a victim and almost lost his life. (Sammy holds up a picture of Spike for all to see). I feel that the current policies do not go far enough in protecting the innocent. Manufacturers of pet foods are only bound by voluntary recall if they suspect their product is tainted. Just look at how slowly many brands were in being removed from store shelves, this is not acceptable. I would like to see the FDA given the authority to recall pet food products at the first sign of pets becoming sick. Further more, I want better policing of where the ingriedients come from. How is it that China is still allowed to police their own industry? To me this is like having the fox guard the hen house. I would like to see a pet food czar appointed to oversee that the food chain is not compromised again. Buyers of overseas grains used to make pet foods must submit samples to ensure that only ingridients that meet the new standard will be bought and used. Where did you go? Hurricane Fay is heading right towards the kitty rancho. Taz and Zippi are boarding up, Missy is checking the sink, OG is the construction supervisor from his office on the bed. Dad went out yesterday and got supplies, mostly for his cabinet. We are all ready for whatever befalls the rancho de Los Gatos. A wet and rainy vote with lots of wind. Ahoy Peanut!
We send ye the next voyage of Captain Orange-Eye and his crew as they terrorize the high CC's: After a long, impatient wait on the lonely dock this night, the crew sees the outline of a large ship gliding elegantly towards them. The Crimson Curse is decked out with several new cannons, and three lone figures can be seen silhouetted upon it. The imposing black shadow of Cobra, the ship’s quartermaster dangles from the mast, while the misty grey colored Trills, the first mate, moves about the deck to and fro; you notice that he has gotten stockier and wonder what or who he’s been eating lately. A lone figure at the helm stands tall, his paw held high in the air. Without warning, Captain Orange-Eye fires a flare into the night sky. the crew watch as it rockets up into the moonlight, further illuminating the murky water around you. What’s this? A small dinghy has been hidden cleverly below the dock—apparently they are to row to the ship on this night! They grumble, but have no choice but to jump into the leaky craft and start rowing toward the ship before it turns and disappears over the horizon. They row faster and faster, until they reach the ship, and Trills quickly lowers the rope ladder. At this rate they will be tired out before the adventure begins! / “Avast ye lazy jugswaggers!” Cobra hisses, racing over to watch their progress. “Ye move like that an ye never gone ta make the raiding party!” / “Yesss!” Trill encouragingly, “You must make haste! The Captain will take no lollygagging this trip! We has to move quickly, quickly!” / Suddenly the faces of Trills and Cobra disappear as they make their way up to the railing. They each throw one paw over the side, then another, and haul themselves up and over, splaying across the deck. They look up anxiously and find themselves face to face with the Captain. Indeed the fearsome Captain Orange-eye towers over them, dressed in a rich crimson damask waistcoat and breeches, a long orange plume waving about his great black hat. His long whiskers are twisted up toward his ears and adorned with bright orange ribbons. Several pistols hang about his waist and his shoulders. Oddly, a great quantity of catnip grass is sticking out from beneath his satin-lined Captain’s hat. His orange eyes glow eerily in the moonlight as he addresses them: “Ye peevish, thatch-headed boot-lickers! The high seas calls to us! Now get ta yer post sand be on the lookout, fer a great enemy sails forth tonight! Are ye with us then? What say thee, thou infectious, thatch-headed pidgeon-pluckers?” / ~You have been swept away and out to sea by the terrible twosome, Olaf and Lynx!Come visit me, Mynx (In Everlasting Memory), Elspeth, Samhi, Beltain Meow, Taliesin, Olaf and Lynx--The Terrible Twosome & Manie (in loving memory).

Today the Verizon Fios guy came and set up internet. My mommy's cousin is staying with us for now and he has a computer and is going to let mommy use it some. This weekend we should be getting our new computer. I'm really happy to be able to write you all again. There has been too much stress here. Can't even begin to say it all. Hi Peanut!!
Well of course I could have told meowmy that I was the only one to take with her to the auditions. Lynx pulled such an attitude and freaked out at the last minute about being in the carrier that she had to change plans and take me! Of course I was the only choice to begin with. I was such a good girl. I was so cute and was so nicely behaved until they stuck a dirty old feather in my face over and over. I didn’t want that! Harrumph! The judges liked me but kept sayin’ I was little! Of all the nerve! Meowmy said I am concentrated cuteness in economy-sized eco-friendly packaging. Whatever, meowmy! Anyway, I think I was the cutest one there and if they don’t pick me it will be meowmy’s fault because she was terrible in the interview *sniff* I was flawless! ~Purrs and a vote, ElspethCome visit me, Mynx (In Everlasting Memory), Elspeth, Samhi, Beltain Meow, Taliesin, Olaf and Lynx--The Terrible Twosome & Manie (in loving memory).

The sun also rises on the kitty rancho. 80 degrees at 700 am.Dad was washing his bike this morning and fell asleep in the chair. He was drinking coffee, we think.The usual crashes and thuds,Missy is doing ok so far, had an asthma attack yesterday, OG is still sleeping. He got up to use the box and went back to bed. Zippi has been doing back flips on the cat tree down to the swinging round thing and back up to another backflip. Taz sits at the base and watches.We woke dad with a thud against the door and a meeeooowwrr. He said the soap dried on his bike. Situation GO at the residence of the sunshine misfits.Come visit me, Ole Gray, Zippi, Taz & Missy.

Meowmy's internet has been goin' in and out for the past two days, but we don't know why--pewpy thinks it might be the router, whatever that is. She is now a happy indoor kitty and resides with her extended cat family that includes among others Thalia, Milagros & Lola, Chupko (Emanuel), Ricky, Kimsel and Arslan. Diana's cat mama, Branka, is a semi feral cat that brought Diana and her littermates to this safe kitty haven when they were wee kittens. Diana became ill and her adopted Mom caught her and nursed her back to health. Since then, Princess Diana has happily lived indoors, getting along great with her 2 brothers, Dodi & Gus, her sister, and all the other feline members of the Belgrade clowder! Last year, Diana did somehow escape from the home (probably jumped the balcony!) and roamed about outside for 3 days. She was lured back into the enclosure and then brought back indoors where a princess belongs. She hasn't tried to leave since. And yes, she was named for the beloved People's Princess of England who enriched the world with her humanitarian work prior to her tragic death in a car accident.
