Here's our schedule for Round 2 of the playoffs. We have taken over the LA Kings again this year after the Canucks were eliminated by our furends the Fierce Felines. And as a result of the switch, we face the Fierce Felines AGAIN in Round 2!! So come on team, and let's get on the ball of yarn and show them who is really the best team!! By the way- when we took over the LA Kings last year, we went all the way and WON the Scamper Cup, so let's make it two in a row!! bet you are glad your mom is home and getting you ready for the playoffs! Did you say Lady Dolly got a haircut?? she got them ALL cut?? Hmm, did miss that pic on FB. You know d'bo and I play for KCK, I really hoope wwe make it all the way, but I don't think we will, now Blue, he plays for T-Clan and I do think he has a better chance than D'bo and I to go all the way. hehe, do you get mixed up as to when we play too?? I thought it was only me who did that!!

You know of course that you are welcome here for spring training whenever you want to come back. If you give us enough advance notice (like lots of notice), we may be able to scout out a show for you to see, and secure you tickets. Well, need to go see what else is up here tonite. Oh our pool temp is 75 but still too cold to go in - need at least 2 weeks of upper 90's or low 100's to make it swimaable for the pawrents. Did I just invent a word, yep, guess I did; purrs, Nudy

Hey Olivia!! Capt Rascal Here!!
I know I'm behind in getting our VFP game schedule out, but I can tell you that our first game is Friday night against the Fierce Felines. Then we play on Sunday the 5th, a double header on Wed the 8th and if needed, again on Friday the 10th, Sunday the 12th and Wed the 15th. Those last three games are if one the teams wins in 4 games. If that happens, I hope it's the VFP!!

Wow, sounds like your pawrents are going to do a lot of travelling! It's great that your mom feels up to doing all that. Mom would love to travel more but money is a big issue right now :-( Between all of us and the fosters and ferals she says she spends more on our food (OK the Earth kitties) than on her own, MOL. Hi Olivia!
It's so nice to get a visit from you to my page! Hope your mom is feeling better; it's been a tough season for the colds and flu. Those are my doggies, Eddie and Emmi. They love kitties. Yep, the tabbie is the intruder, Rennie. She lives in Sis's room and I still hate her but we get near each other with no hissing in the mornings when mom plays treat games with us.

I hope your mom wasn't too upset after hockey; I sure do hate to hear anyone got put out or feelings hurt. I am bringing some hugs and a basket of cheerful thoughts and wishes. I won't be able to be at the games Wed; mom is working into the evenings and it's getting too hard for her to get me there. I will try to make it Fridays and Sundays for a couple more weeks then may have to go off line for a bit.

How are you doing? We cats are doing great. I can't say the same for the humans. One cold after another, we're currently on the second bout of the flu, and all kinds of infections in between. That's why I haven't stopped by in a little while. Too busy taking care of mama! What would she do without me?

I have a funny story to tell about mama. She had to call Home Depot to see if they had an element in stock that she needed to fix a hot water heater.

As usual, they put her on hold so while she waited she fed the dogs. A piece of food fell under Melian and Tuna decided to go for it.

Melian exploded with a roar and scared poor Tuna half to death. She didn't bite but that would have been the next step.

Mama has zero tolerance for dangerous behaviour so she chewed Melian out royally. "Shame on you! You're a BAD girl! Shame! Shame!"

Silence.

Uh oh! Where was the hold music? How long had she been off hold? :) The woman on the other end timidly cleared her throat.

Mama explained that the dogs were being bad. The woman said nothing. I think she was more scared to death than Tuna! :)

She VERY apologetically told mama they didn't have the element in stock and hung up as quickly as she could.

I'm still smiling about this!

We still have snow on the ground and it's not showing any signs of spring yet. We're all longing for warmer weather. How about you?

Bummer Dolly had to have 3 teeth extracted; hope she is feeling ok now. My goodness 21 pounds? It sounds like her owners spoiled her a little bit. That amazes me that Beauty plays with a puppy and lets it chew on her ears, who would have thought? I will rub on my little doggie sometimes but don't really play with her. Those things smell funny to me, I would NEVER let one slobber all over me.

Mom says our intruder is a really nice cat. I can't say I agree. Mom got a Feliway diffuser and is hoping it will help calm me down so I don't lunge at her. I guess I scratched her nose once, and sis got all worked up. She and mom put softpaws on us but they didn't last long. Sis doesn't think it was worth all the trouble.

It was great to see your family at the rink last night. Bummer about Dean's mom getting hurt so badly; hope she will be able to get back on the puter before too long.

Hi Olivia, Dolly, family!
It is so great to get a blog from you! Wasn't it crazy at the rink? It was hard not to get dizzy but so fun to see everyone there. It was a bummer that Easy's family couldn't be there.

I did hear that mom has Dolly back. I bet her purrsons were sad but glad that mom could take her back. I am sorry it didn't work out for her there.

I need to tell you about this "intruder" in my house. Mom adopted a kitty from a rescue foster group. She is about 10 months old and mom and sis think she is a sweetheart. I took a dislike to her, but mom hopes that could change. She is sis's kitty and she lives upstairs in sis's room. So if we never get along, we can have our separate territories. There is a picture of her in my gallery. The family calls her Rennie, which is short for Eirene, goddess of peace. They think she's peaceful. I think she is an upstart intruder. Sis adores her and my doggies liked her right away, and she made furriends with them very easily. What kind of a cat is that? I would have hissed at the doggies, she didn't at all.

I hope you had a good weekend. The pawrents went to Indy; mom went to a bridal shower for a niece and then they visited brother and stayed overnight with him. They played some poker with some of brother's friends. Mom thought it was a fun time. Sunday they drove to Grandma's and spent some time doing some things Grandma needed done. Grandma is pretty weak and confused, and the family is concerned about her.

The Huffington Post had a comedy article in November 2011 about a fictional advertising company called John Street that launches the first and only "Catvertising agency". They predict cat videos will represent 90% of the advertising industry, and say "no one wants to see ads anymore. They want cat videos". And their slogan is "Ask yourself, what can cat videos do for your business".

Seriously though, cats have been featured in many, many ads in the last few years.

**”BAD IDEA” ADS**

Rotten tomato awards for some recent ads, including;

• Kim Kardashian holding a black cat by the scruff of its neck in a 2010 photo shoot (Kim, if you’re not a momma cat, you need to give kitty some support!)
• An ad campaign featuring pasty models in grotesque poses with black cats posing on and around them (I understand about contrast, but come on…....that’s BEYOND creepy!)
• A video game promotion launched in London by releasing cats at famous landmark locations wearing adorned jackets. (We have to hope and pray that all these kitties returned safely).

I did put a photo of one of the London (FEAR 2) cats on the bottom of my page. Mom will NOT be doing this with me!

When Red Square Agency decided to run ads on Facebook, they tested a few concepts. One ad featured a photo of an employee's cat with this headline: "This ad features a cat."

The result? The cat outperformed the other ads by 39%. =^..^= Need I say more?

In the mid-1960's, a perfume company called Lanvin used black cats to promote their perfume called "My Sin".
^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

One series of ads featured photographs of real black cats, and proclaimed "It's wicked, wicked". Another ad showed a graphic representation of a glamour-puss mom cat with her kittens in the background. Presumably the perfume company was trying to tie in the image of the black cat as a mysterious, playful, yet sexy image; and also a loving and caring mother.

The ads were created by the artist Merle Basset and are sold today as collectibles. The perfume, My Sin, was created in 1924 by a mysterious Russian woman known as "Madame Zed". It was discontinued in 1988.

The EverreadyBattery company has used a black cat on its ads since 1949. The black cat is shown jumping through the Number 9. The ad implies that the battery has a longer life, like the nine lives of the cat.

The ad says

Just as an active cat....

.....takes a cat nap

and bounces back with new pep....

so "Eveready" batteries bounce back for extra life!

The Everready battery company is now owned by Energizer Holdings and they continue to use the Black cat jumping through the Number 9 as the logo on their Everready batteries.

In 1897 Parker Brothers marketed a card game called "Black Cat Fortune Telling Game". The game was similar to Ouija in that there was no actual "play", the players shuffled the cards and told each other's fortunes.

A popular poster is an ad from the 1880's for International Baking Powder. The bread board rose from the yeasty dough and startled the black kitty into doing his best "Halloween" imitation.

BLACK CATS DO NOT CAUSE BAD LUCK!

A high school student named Mark Levin did in fact test this theory using scientific methods. He actually won a contest with his essay, "Do Black Cats Cause Bad Luck?" He and his friends asked people to measure their "luck" by playing a simple computer guessing game. Black cats were staged to cross the participants paths as they walked along a corridor. After a lot of random number guessing, and black cat crossing, the statistical results revealed that the black cat had absolutely no effect.

The researchers tried the experiment again with a white cat, and again concluded the cat had no effect on the luck of the participants. The actual text of his conclusion follows:

"In conclusion, neither cat produced a drastic change in the subject's luck. True, the subject's luck declined slightly, but the change was not great enough to leave the subject's average luck range. There are several objections that believers could raise. It could be said that the cat affects not guessing power but fortune and misfortune in real-life situations. I own a black cat, and although she has crossed my path hundreds of times, I see no degradation in my schoolwork or social life. It could be said that the computer's brain is somehow beyond the cat's influence. I see no difference between an object that could land on one of 2 sides and a stream of electrons that could end in one of 2 states. Another argument is that the stakes must be raised so that there is a disadvantage to losing. This implies the existence of a malevolent being, manifested in cats, whose reason for existence is to deny people fortune. But that is ridiculous. The idea that black cats cause bad luck is false. Cats do not affect the luck of anyone whose path has been crossed."

Today I am celebrating 3 years with my family! My motto is “FOREVER HOMES RULE!”and I think mine does! An extra big head bonk for my dear sis for convincing mom to adopt a black kitty. Sis knew from her experience volunteering at the shelter that black cats and dogs are the last to find forever homes. Thanks, Sis!

Today and tomorrow I am going to be a little more somber and share with you some thoughts on a subject that is very near and dear to my heart – black cat adoptions.

Black Cats Not Welcome During Baseball World Series
~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

Early-20th-century New York Giants manager John McGraw was notoriously superstitious, so fans would put black cats in front of the Giants' dugout to jinx him.
In response, humane societies suspended adopting black cats during the World Series, which is played just before Halloween.

The American League since adopted a rule against continuing a game when an animal is on the field.
~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

To this day, many shelters won't allow black cats to be adopted for fear they are going to be used for nefarious purposes. Other shelters have special Black Cat adoption days to promote awareness of the plight of black cats.

Hoping to bring good fortune to the black beauties who potential pet parents have passed by, Cats Protection– the UK’s leading cat welfare charity,– declared October 27, 2011 to be Black Cat Awareness Day. Retired 60's supermodel Twiggy and her black kitty Tatiana joined the cause. This year the campaign will be held October 25.

Another thought experiment ~ The Buttered Cat Paradox

This thought experiment is a joking one, based on two familiar adages: That cats always land on their feet and that toast always lands buttered side down. Humorists ask what would happen if you strapped a piece of toast to a kitty ~ buttered side up ~ and dropped the kitty. Would the two rotate eternally? Some have created cartoon images to this effect.

Artist J. Frazee won an "Omni" magazine competition for his submission of the rotating kitty with the buttered toast. A young girl also won a Student Film Award based on her film of this experiment, entitled "Perpetual Motion". The idea has been in comic strips and once even appeared on a British panel game, where the contestants wondered, "What would happen if you used margarine?" The idea also appeared in a scientific podcast "Radiolab" where it was part of a show titled "gravitational anarchy".

Cats really do have a "righting reflex" that enables us to turn ourselves right-side-up in mid-air. This lets us land on our feet we fall from sufficient height. The same, however, cannot be said about buttered toast. In fact, brother tells me that Mythbusters featured the buttered toast (without the kitty strapped to it, thank goodness!) and dispelled the buttered toast myth. They said the overall results showed about a 50-50 split; however, when pushed off the side of a high table (or building), toast did have a tendency to land buttered side up. It is believed to be less dependent on butter and pawsibly from compression, from the act of buttering, causing the toast to become concave, and encounter more air friction.

Schrödinger's Cat ~ A Scientific Paradox

IMPORTANT: no real kitties were harmed in this experiment!

Twisted up in Schrödinger's uncertainty experiment, this fictional kitty has been put through a quantum ringer that NO ONE should have to experience. This is the most enigmatic cat of our universe - or any parallel universe for that matter, because it is simultaneously both "dead" and "alive".

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian
physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. Physicists use this thought experiment to describe a cat that might be alive or dead, depending on an earlier random event.

This most puzzling of cats ~ Schrödinger's Cat ~ has become somewhat of a feline celebrity. Clever references show up in movies and television shows such as Dr. Who and Futurama. There are Schrödinger's Cat jokes: "Schrödinger's Cat walks into a bar - - and doesn't". And there are t-shirts " Schrödinger's Cat: Wanted Dead and Alive". A cat named Mourka carried messages through enemy territory in WW II. Mourka found his way to the kitchens where the messages needed to be taken behind enemy lines. His heroism became well known and there were articles about him in many newspapers. Mourka was praised for his efforts, and the Times of London in a leading article, ended with the words: "he has shown himself worthy of Stalingrad, and whether for cat or man there can be no higher praise".

Mourka the Dancing Cat

The great choreographer George Balanchine (1904-1983) , worked with the Russian Ballet, then later the NYC Ballet. Balanchine played with his cat, Mourka, and closely watched how his body flew through the air. Balanchine observed and choreographed many of these sutle movements to be interpreted by his dancers into a ballet.

Balanchine taught Mourka how to dance, and it is rumored that Mourka performed at parties. It is said that the great composer Stravinsky (Firebird) once asked to see him perform, and that it was the only time Balanchine was nervous before a performance. Mourka was featured in LIFE magazine and even had his own autobiography published!

Sir Isaac Newton, the great mathematician and physicist (1642-1727) was a cat lover. According to stories, one of his cats constantly interrupted Newton demanding to be let in and out of the house. Out of frustration, he invented the pet door. He had two cats, one plump, the other thin and athletic. Anecdotes claim that he had two cat flaps cut into the door to accomodate them; he didn't want either cat to think they were of higher or lesser importance than the other.

Yippee! Hockey season is here!

We have been practicing all summer and are ready to hit the arena! Our first games will be October 14. If you haven't joined a team, and think you might be interested, come to the rink page #121409, get a pair of skates from the pro shop, and see what it's all about! We get cool jerseys, too: some even have our faces on them! Or you can sit in the stands and cheer your furriends and enjoy the kittylicious mouseburgers and curly fries from the arena snack bar.

There are spots available to join a team. Active team members come to the rink at least a couple times a week, but you don't have to be on a team to stop in and watch the games and meow with your furriends!

We meet at the rink at 7:30 EST Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We meow our greetings then games start at 8:00. We live blog and the games have kitties substituted for human players from real NHL games, with funny penalties. You don't have to be a fan of human hockey to enjoy it, but your blogger may find it fun to follow the human games. We meow about a great many things besides just hockey.

Macak, the Electric Cat

A big Croatian farmcat named Macak sparked a love of science in the man who was a pioneer in electromagnetics.

In an essay, physicist Nikola Tesla writes:

"In the dusk of the evening, as I stroked Macak’s back, I saw a miracle that made me speechless with amazement. Macak’s back was a sheet of light and my hand produced a shower of sparks loud enough to be heard all over the house.

My father was a very learned man; he had an answer for every question. But this phenomenon was new even to him. “Well,” he finally remarked, “this is nothing but electricity, the same thing you see through the trees in a storm.”

My mother seemed charmed. “Stop playing with this cat,” she said. “He might start a fire.” But I was thinking abstractedly. Is nature a gigantic cat? If so, who strokes its back? It can only be God, I concluded. Here I was, only three years old and already philosophizing."

There are two children's books that tell this story and introduce young people to the world of eletromagnetic power and communication. One is called "Nikko and Macak, the Electric Cat", and the other is "Nikko - Superboy Inventor".

Although Thomas Edison's lightbulb is credited with changing America, it was Tesla's breakthrough discoveries in AC power transmission and radio communication that started the progress in electomagnetics , enabling home electricity and radio.

Jellylorum was a cat owned by T.S. Elliot, who served as the inspiration for (and appears in) his book "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats". Elliott's book began as a series of letters written to his niece in the 1930s, based on adventures of his many pet cats

This collection of whimsical poems in the book has been set into music several times. In 1954 the English composer A. Rawsthorne set six of the poems in a work for speaker and orchestra entitled “Practical Cats”. At about the same time another English composer, H. Searle, composed another narrator piece based on the poems, using the flute, piccolo, cello and guitar. This work, “Two Practical Cats”, used poems of Macavity and Growltiger.

Probably the best-known musical adaptation of "Old Possom's Book of Practical Cats" is the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Cats”, one of the most successful Broadway musicals ever. The T.S. Elliot book was a favorite of Andrew Lloyd Webber in his childhood, and in 1980, he decided to adapt the poems into a musical.

Jellylorum is one of the characters in the musical "CATS". Her name is believed to mean "Lillie Cat" or "wisdom" or "tradition".

Happy Thanksgiving Day to our northern neighbors in Canada!

Mom was driving through northern Indiana this weekend and I wish I could share with you the visual beauty of the autumn colors! It was simply gorgeous! We are enjoying these autumn days.

Quick! Name a famous macabre short story, where an ebony cat is the focus of the narrator's madness and ultimately exposes his crime? Chances are you guessed right, it's "The Black Cat", by Edgar Allen Poe.

Although the black kitty in this story wasn't treated kindly, Edgar Allen Poe owned or was owned by one or more cats during his lifetime. His letters alternatively refer to his beloved cat as "Catterina", "Catter" or "Kate" and describe either a black cat or a tortie.

Catterina inspired Poe to pen a brief essay celebrating her abilities, which included opening a latched door leading into the kitchen. A family friend observed how Catterina provided warmth and companionship and soothed Poe's wife, Virginia, during her attacks of consumption. In his book, "Poe: A life Cut Short", author Peter Ackroyd writes that Catterina would settle herself on Poe's shoulders while he was writing and purr with delight.

These descriptions contrast with the more disturbing view of Pluto in The Black Cat. Some scholars speculate that Catterina served as inspiration for the story, but it is not known and there is disagreement.

Forget the Medieval period and Middle Ages!

The times were not kind to us kitties. Cats, especially us black kitties, were associated with EVIL! In 1233 Pope Gregory IX denounced black cats as Satanic, and this launched a period of oppression and extermination of cats. It was not a good time for our ancestors. Out of all the possible "familiars" (dogs, toads, bats and even horses), cats got the worst publicity.

During these times, superstitions led people to kill cats, especially black ones, which had the unfortunate consequence of increasing the rat population and the spread of Black Death (Bubonic Plague)

The cat was frequently represented in art and books as sinister. Dante (1265-1321) wrote of cats in his poetry comparing them to demons with hooked claws who claw sinners trying to emerge from their hot punishment. Another sinister image of the cat is in the Canterbury Church. A cat forms part of the column, but its tale is bifurcated and each branch ends in a snake's head.

There are few kindly references to cats in Shakespeare's works. He comments that the household cat not only laps the milk that has been put out for it, but steals the cream that hasn't.

Ironically, although he was a passionate persecutor of witches and their familiars, Cardinal Richelieu (1585-1642) had at least 14 cats of his own. His favorite was a cat named Soumise, who slept on his lap. He also had a black cat named Lucifer.

Artists and heralds of the medieval period usually preferred to paint dogs rather than cats.

Bygul and Trjegul are the two huge cats that pull the chariot of the Norse goddess Freya (the lady). Freya, goddess of love and fertility, was the wife of Odr, and had a fondness for fairies. Some say her cats were known as Fairy cats. They were said to be blue, and of a breed called “Skogkatter”; they had big fluffy tails, and were so large that even Thor couldn’t move them!

Some Cat fanciers claim they were Norwegian Forest Cats. =^..^=

Norwegian Forest Cats have long been featured in folk tales and mythology . Vikings kept cats for mousers as well as pets. The kittens were sometimes given to new brides for setting up new household. It was even more appropriate that brides should receive cats, since cats were associated with Freya, the goddess of love.

Freya rules over the afterlife called Folkvangr and there receives half of those who die in battle; the other half go to Odin’s Valhalla. Freya is the mistress of cats and the leader of Valkyries and inspires poetry. Her gold and amber necklace – called the Brisingamen – is so famous it was mentioned in the literary classic “Beowulf”.

In Ancient Egypt we were worshipped!

Sekhmet was a tough war-goddess cat that was held in awe and feared. Later she was joined by Bastet, who was one of the most important of all the Egyptian gods.

The goddess Bast, or Bastet, was pictured with the head of a cat and was thought to be the daughter of the sun god Ra. She was the goddess of protection and of household entertainment.

Together, Sekhmet and Bastet were perceived as the two faces of the sun. Sekhmet represented the destructive side and Bastet its life-giving side.

The Egyptians also provide us with an explanation of why we call a cat "puss" or "pussy", as these may be variations on the pronounciation of the word "Bast" (pronounced Phast). There were positive connotations and good luck associated with cats, including black kitties, back in Ancient Egypt. A father might shave part or more of his childrens' heads as an offering to some particular cat. Women would paint their eyes in elongated shapes to mimic the appearance of a cat.

Angel Zak is missed

Angel Zak loved to be outdoors and refused to use a litter box or be an indoor kitty. Mom wanted to keep him inside, but he would come in only to visit. He moved with the family when they relocated from Massachusetts back to Indiana. He loved his new neighborhood with all the woods and chipmunks and had a very happy life. When a neighbor got a new puppy, he would teach the puppy to respect cats. He taught two of our family's own puppies, over the years, that cats are not for chasing.

He always used gentleness and a refusal to run away as his teaching method, never clawing or hissing. His best furriend was a 150 pound Alaskan Malamute, whose head was the size of Zak's body. They used to cuddle together when the dog was out in its back yard. Angel Zak would greet the Halloween trick or treaters with curiosity and tolerance; he never ran away from a small child. His patience and gentleness was truly inspiring.

Dad would walk the dogs, and almost every night, Zak would join them as they walked. He would walk along behind, then, on the way home, would ask to be picked up, and would ride home on dad's shoulders. He was affectionate and would hug people. His special purrson was mom's oldest son. Zak missed him so much when he left for college. He always greeted him with drool and kitty hugs when he came home to visit.

Mom came home one busy Saturday, September 25, 2009, and found Zak had died in his sleep at age 15. Mom called her big son, and he was devastated. The family cried and cried. Later that day the family had a funeral for Angel Zak and buried him out beneath the trees with some of his favorite toys and treats.

The family will never forget him. Not ever. We learned from his gentle ways and he inspired us to be loving and gentle to others. ♥

There were only a couple years of mom's life when she wasn't owned by a kitty. When mom's human babies were very little, she didn't have a kitty. Mom was afraid that a baby kitten would be too delicate: she didn't want her kids to be rough and hurt a kitten, so when she lost her Susie, she didn't get another cat for a couple of years.

When the human kids were ages 7, 3 and zero, mom's 7 year old (now 25!) son begged mom for a kitten. Mom finally said yes and found the most extraordinary cat.

Angel Zak was born in Auburn, Massachusetts. His mom was a special and very beloved kitty. It was unusual for a litter of kittens to be born so late in autumn and mom was surprised to see an ad in the newspaper. Mom went to see them and fell in love with a little grey and white kitten. Mom worried that the kids would be too rough; but Angel Zak helped to teach the young children to be gentle by being the most loving and gentle kitty.

He never bit or scratched, he would be ever so patient, and he would reward a child's gentleness with sincere affection. The kids adored him and would never hurt him. He taught them so much and each one, now grown, loves cats.

Mom has always been a cat purrson

Mom has had kitties since she was about seven years old, when the family moved to a farm. Grandma believed kitties should live in the barn, but a young mom begged and begged, until finally Grandma agreed to an inside kitty. From that time on, for the rest of her life, Angel Grandma always had an inside kitty. To this day, Grandpa is still owned by the world's bossiest Calico!

Mom's first and only purebred cat was a Siamese named Ting Toy that she got when she was 11 years old. Ting Toy went outside only on harness and leash and accompanied the family on a vacation when mom was 15. She went with the family on a trip to Mackinac Island and rode around the island in the basket of a bicycle that mom rode. Grandpa thought she looked like a little monkey, but mom adored her. Mom says that Ting Toy would also shake paws to get a treat, like I do now.

She lived a nice long life until age 19. Mom had moved away by then but Ting Toy stayed with Grandma and Grandpa for the remainder of her life. There is a picture of Ting Toy at the bottom of my page. ♥

Thanks so much mom Susie for letting my mom know when dear Gracie slipped away from us here on earth. I know Gracie said no tears she said no tears but I know my blogger has had some. She started losing it when she helped me post the news on the CMR...about when she got to the part about the wake on Pinto Island. Good thing she had the poem all ready or she would have fallen apart looking for one.

She was a spunky and sweet dear and will stay with us in spirit always. She is still my bestie; Angel, or not.

I am setting off some purple and pink angel fireworks to celebrate her life. Can you see them from your house?

Hi I'm ♦♦ Lily ♦♦#166596!

I adopted my family in October 2009. Mom loves the meezer breeds, and wanted a Siamese, Tonkinese or Burmese. Sis insisted we rescue a black kitty, because she knows black cats and dogs are the last to get adopted. Imagine mom's delight when she saw me! I am a glossy black meezer mix, with oversize eyes and ears, although mom says that I have finally *almost* grown into my ears. MOL (Sis says NOT)

My family adores me. I spend my days looking out the window and catnapping, when not running and playing. Mom is my favorite pet, and I have taught her to do some clever tricks, like giving me a treat when I offer her my paw. She pets me sweetly and doesn't pick me up too much. I "talk" to my family with chirrups and soft mews. Sis will talk back to me in the same language.

I joined the CC community in early 2010 and got my first COTD in July 2010, 2d and 3rd August 2011 and 2012. I am an active hockey cat on Kitty Avalanche (KA). I have been known to entertain with ice skating/dancing/cheering routines (with spangled leotard and fire batons MOL), and I was thrilled to be inducted into the MHL Hall of Fame in June 2012.

K Kato made me a Dame, I was honored to be Lady of the Magical Unicorns for Q Lola, was one of Q Cherish's royal pilots, and honorary Princess with Q Gracie.

My October theme is "Felines in Fact, Fiction and Fantasy. You may meet a few black cats along the way, because it *is* October and I am a black cat! MOL

Before I have you meet these characters, I want to tell you about a couple of special kitties, and I will be doing that over the next three blogs. We're running by with a late night vote and a slice of Junior's Cheesecake. We thought you would enjoy the mouse-tail topping! Hee- Hee Mom was down Atlantic City all Day with her Parents as part of our Grandpa's Birthday gift. He'll be 80 years old on Wednesday. He loves AC and had a wonderful day. Our Family is giving him a large party on Sunday to celebrate his newest milestone.
