Recently a cat loving family had their red female cat, Angel Rhuby cross over the Rainbow Bridge. The cat mom of this family decided she would like to adopt another red female and as luck would have it, there was Rosie at the Petsmart Adoption Center. Rosie #252822 and her new mom bonded instantly and Rosie came to her new home that day. Rosie was at the shelter for over two months and was a bit wild. She didn't like being kept in a cage and would fight with the shelter workers when they tried to put her back in her cage. This was a big reason why Rosie #252822 wasn't adopted sooner; she was scared and the people looking at her were not patient with her until her new mom came along. Now at her new home Rosie #252822 is a cuddle cat with her daddy and loves to play with her brother Yogi. She gets along with the rest of her furry siblings and is a happy cat. Rosie #252822 will not eat dry food but she will eat any kind of wet food. She doesn't like dry treats either! Rosie loves to play with her furry mouse and the laser light. Rosie #252822 is happily spoiled now in her new home and we are very happy she has found a wonderful loving home. Rosie would be so honored to have a COTD badge to display on her page. This sweet kitty joined the angels in February 2013 after losing his battle with complications that developed after being hit by a car the month before. He’d survived having both legs broken & surgery, but was unable to walk & had to drag himself to the litterbox. He was very brave & stayed a very sweet boy during all of the pain, infections, examinations & becoming a foster; but the angels knew that his life would not be a full one with his disabilities & thus called him home. Please paw by & meet this beautiful Champagne Point Tonkinese kitty. KAYLIN #251700 is not just a beautiful face she is also a CFA Champion & a Mom. She was hand picked for her new parents by her sister Wendy's breeder when she found out how sick Wendy was. But this sweet girl was already a mom so her new parents had to wait to bring her home. All of her kitties found their furever homes & then she had her Big Girl surgery. She was finally able to come to her new home in January. She wasn't sure if she wanted to stay at first, but her new parents gave her lots of love & support so we are happy to report she is settling in quite nicely. KAYLIN #251700 spends her days hanging out on Mom & Dads laps, playing with her toys, & napping in the sun. She also likes to tear through the apartment at top speed and has been known to do it in the middle of the night too. Her most favorite things to eat are the Roast Chicken that she shares with her parents, and her Blue food. This week’s special recognition candidates were found on the side of a road near a wooded area when they were barely old enough to fend for themselves. Their guardian angel was working hard that day & led their new mom to the right spot where she picked up the three mewing furballs & took them home. These precious sibs have stolen the hearts of many CC members by mom’s picture postings on FB & it’s pawsome being able to watch them grow up here in our loving community. Colt and Winchester love to talk to calm Kimber down because she’s very shy, unlike her more outgoing sibs. They love to play with their mouse toys & frequently pick on their bigger sibs throughout the day to see how much they can get away with. You can often find this rambunctious trio of young felines looking out of the window talking to birds, or playing with their light up ball. They’re snugglers too! They’re often found in the lap of mom or grandpa or you can see them snuggling happily together in their kitty bed. The inseparable trio of COLT,WINCHESTER & KIMBER#251320, are also keeping the house hopping with their energy level so let’s help them bounce off the walls a little more by pouncing by to paw them a COTD vote today, Monday April 29th, so they can earn their very first badge of honor tomorrow!

They were lucky kitties and both were adopted together into their forever home. When the mood strikes her, Cassandra #205806 can hide in the smallest of places and will close the cupboard door behind her leaving it almost impossible to locate her. Cassandra likes hamburgers from Burger King, cheese and hot dogs. She hates being interrupted from her naps and being ignored by her daddy. She has learned how to love from them and quite often you can find her hanging out on her mom or grandmom's lap. She doesn't have any pet peeves but she loves jumping into open drawers. These precious kitties are so thankful to have a loving family after they were abandoned when their previous owners moved away. Their new family, who are long time loyal members of CC, realized that Fang & Drooler faced an uncertain future because of their advanced age and medical conditions; so they decided to take them in and try to find them another home. Fang & Drooler #236550 have now taken their place among the other rescues in the family! They love to hang out with mom, enjoy spending time in their beds or on the couch, & enjoy playtime outside! They both meow their displeasure with car rides, strangers, vacuums, & trash trucks; Fang, in particular, has an aversion to feathers, preferring to play only with a shoelace! These sweet kitties are also dealing with an Auto Immune disorder: Drooler has had 7 teeth removed as a result; Fang suffers from mouth and paw ulcers, and is not too happy that he has to take medications for the ulcers, insulin to treat Diabetes, stress, & will start meds for Hyperthyroidism. Along with Luvbug, Lil Jag, Buster, Smudge, & Angels Kuce, Sphinx, & Dancing Bear, Fang & Drooler #236550 have been given a chance to live with this wonderful family, who are well known to everyone for the love and compassion they have for homeless and abandoned cats! Fang & Drooler #236550 crave love and attention & will be overjoyed to have furiends come by and visit! We hope you will leave a vote so they can have the honor of winning their very own COTD award!

Neelix is a very handsome seven year old tabby who was rescued along with his brother when he was a tiny kitten abandoned in a parking lot. Since that tiny kitten was adopted by his loving pawrents he has trained them to be excellent staff for himself and his brothers. Regarding his brothers, Hedley and Jakar, the three of them comprise the famous (or perhaps infamous) “pawty animals”. These boys are always the life of any party, they create lots of fun at every MHL Mouse Hockey Game, and they are always the first to lend a paw on any project that benefits the CC community. They’re always there to offer comfort to the sad, good thoughts and healing wishes to the sick and congratulations to those who are celebrating. Neelix and his family always support the COTD and COTM candidates. They are a credit to the CC community!
Neelix is an outstanding member of our CC family, and since both of his brothers already have their very own COTD badges, it seems that it is time for Neelix to have one of his own. Won’t you please drop by and give this handsome guy a vote, on Monday so he can have the badge he so much deserves.

The neighbor took in Percy's mom cat and once her litter was born, the human daughter's at her forever home fell in love with her. Percy #245206 stood out because of her wonderful personality. Percy is a prima donna kitty until it is playtime; then watch out! Percy #245206 loves to play with her sibling, Simba, and she enjoys ambushing him. They have a grand time together playing with their toys and each other. Percy is also a talker. She loves to have a conversation and even comes when her name is called. That is smart since a treat may be involved if your name is being called, and Percy #245206 enjoys Temptation treats. She gets a little upset, though, if she is expecting a treat and she is ignored. Percy #245206 can use her paws like furry hands and manages to open things. Percy likes to sit on the back of the recliner and watch her family as she relaxes and observes what is going on. Her brothers were adopted by a neighbor but TIGGER #82433 lived a happy life in the forever home her mom had chosen. She got along well with most of her other feline housemates for 15 years until her crossing on July 6, 2011 but we know that the family is still missing her loving purrs. Storm Frost is a beautiful little Tabby kitten who is the sister of Julius Steven, a friend to many of us. Like her brother she is a caring member of our CC family and can often be seen visiting sick kitties, comforting sad kitties and their families and of course supporting the COTD and COTM candidates.
When Storm Frost was born, To Sparkle Frost, another kitty in the family, Storm Waters, had just miscarried her litter of kittens. Storm Frost and her sister Baby Frost were sort of adopted by Storm Waters and she nursed them cleaned them and taught them what they needed to know to be good kitties. Their birth mother, Sparkle Frost has since been adopted out to a good home, but they are still being loved and groomed by the sweet kitty who adopted them Storm Waters.
Storm Frost and her family are loyal and kind members of our CC family, won’t you lease help this little sweetheart earn her COTD badge. Her family would be proud and she will be very happy

Handsome Simba was waiting to be adopted when his future mom came looking for a female cat. He jumped right out of his cage and into her lap and she fell madly in love. He now happily lives with his new family and fursibling Percy. Simba comes when he is called and loves drinking water from your hand and doing a sit-up for treats. While he enjoys looking out the window, he gets very angry when the neighbor cat is in his view and takes it out on poor Percy. It was a very happy day for Chloe #225879 when she was rescued by her forever family! Mom found Chloe under the porch at her workplace. Chloe was taking care of a kitten, so Mom rescued them both, and named the kitten Laci. When Mom checked with the vet, she found out that they were not litter mates! Chloe is 4 months older than Laci, and has gained some weight now that she doesn’t have a little one to care for. Chloe #225879 is a very important member of her family, and she is thriving! Chloe loves to play; her favorite toys are catnip-scented pompoms, and balls that have jingle bells inside! Like many of us, Chloe’s has a least favorite activity, and that is getting her nails clipped! Her favorite places to hang out are on Mom’s lap and on top of the cat condo! Jakar is a handsome 3 year old who always looks good in his basic black. He was born feral, but became a beloved member of his family as a tiny kitten. He’s a fun loving guy who loves to play fetch with his pawrents, always bringing them toys to toss for him to retrieve. He also likes to wrestle with his brother Hedley who outweighs him by a lot!
He and his brothers Hedley and Neelix are active in MHL hockey and have become very good players in just a short time.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Jakar’s personality is his kindness and loyalty to his CC friends and family. Not a day goes by that you don’t see Jakar offer congratulations to his friends, bringing kind words to those who are ill or sad and supporting the CC family as a whole. Jakar is a wonderful and caring member of our CC community. Let’s show him how much we appreciate him by joining together to vote for him on Monday the 28th, to bring him his COTD badge. He certainly deserves it and his family will be so happy for him to be honored with a shiny COTD badge.

*RAINBOW SCOOP* From the desk of Editor Angel Sherman…ANGEL STORMY #75494 was a happy cat living in a home where he’d been since he was a kitten when one day his owner turned him in to an 82% kill shelter in 2007 because she was "moving and couldn’t take him with her." When he didn't get adopted at Petsmart, his time was up, so he was adopted as a foster for the rescue his profile owner volunteered for. He was incredibly reclusive and never played, looked out the window or did anything but crouch on the bare floor under or behind the sofa. We think this sweet boy was traumatized by the sudden departure of his longtime friend/owner, plus being put into a strange home but he was loved very dearly by his adoptive foster parents & they did what they could for him until his sudden crossing on December 21,2008. We’d like everyone to help honor the memory of this handsome boy by running by & pawing ANGEL STORMY #75494 an ACOTD vote today (Friday January 18) so that his star can outshine all the rest in the heavens tomorrow night.

Congratulations to QUEEN ANGEL SUGAR #62813 for her outstandingly beautiful & successful campaign to become our first royal cat of 2013! GOOD MORNING ANGEL COCO PUFF & FURRENDS !
The Reef Bay trail starts at Centerline Road about 5 miles east of Cruz Bay. The trail leads between Centerline Road & the ruins of the Reef Bay sugar factory which is close to Genti Bay beach. This trail is very well kept and descends 937 feet from the road to the Reef Bay Valley. It will take approximately 2 hours of downhill trekking for you to enjoy the entire hike. Along the trail you will see many beautiful and unique sights. At the start of your hike you will notice a stone stairway just on the southern side of the road. This is where your journey begins. As you begin, you will see an old stone wall. This is all that is left of the wall that once protected the horsemill that once stood on these grounds. You will venture off through the sub-tropical forest on a trail that follows the course of the Reef Bay Gut. You will enjoy seeing on the different tropical vegetation that is known in this beautiful upper valley. You will notice many signs along your way that will give you a wealth of information regarding the environment around this valley. Some of the trees that you will see as you begin your descent include locust, sandbox, kapok, mammee apple and mango. The next great attraction will be the Josie Gut Sugar Estate. All that remains is the ruins. You will see the horsemill and its unusual circular shape which is being supported by the stone wall. As you leave Josie Gut and head back down to the sea you will relax just a bit as the incline is not as steep and the atmosphere changes into a dryer forest. The trees are not as large and the greenery is becoming denser. You will see the ruins of a small home that was in built in 1930. This area is known as Estate Par Force. Miss Anna Marsh was once the owner of this home and would give her permission for visitors to travel on down to the sea or to see the petroglyphs. In 1938, Miss Marsh was murdered and the house was left to decay. The next intersection you will find on your hike down the Reef Bay trail is the Petroglyph Trail going west. You will love taking this path even if it is off your course. It might be a nice time to have your picnic before you travel on down the trail. As you hike the rest of the way to the bay you will see citrus trees such as limes. The closer you get to the sea the trail will go through some low marshy type areas. The holes that you can see in the ground are created by land crabs that make this area home. Now, you are at the end of the trail and the Reef Bay sugar factory ruins are in sight. Most of all the land that you travel from Centerline Road to where you are now standing was once owned by the Marsh family. The restroom facilities that you notice were constructed with monies that Ladybird Johnson donated after her hike down Reef Bay Trail to find their were no facilities available.****** Pictures on the bottom of my page.There are many more pictures and more information if you google search it on your computer. Handsome Zeus was rescued from a kill shelter by a rescue group and is now living with his foster mom until a furever home is found for him, though by her admission, that may change. This sweete little boy is proving to be a handful by getting into all the places he doesn't belong. Hehehe! He loves playing with wand toys and catnip mice. You can find him hanging out on the top of the coffee maker, in the sink, the top of the computer or on the stove. Now we see where he gets his rep for being in all the wrong places! This is such a pretty and interesting place. You can wander around ALL DAY,there is so much to see. For cats it is lots of fun as there are so many nooks and crannies to explore. The view is breathtaking !
Virgin Islands National Park: Annaberg Plantation, as of 1780, was one of 25 active sugar producing factories on St. John. Other products produced at Annaberg were molasses and rum. Annaberg was named after William Gottschalk's daughter and translates to Anna's Hill. Gottschalk was the plantation owner. Slave labor was used to clear densely forested hillsides and to terrace the slopes around Annaberg to make farming possible. Slave labor was also used to plant, harvest and process the sugarcane. When slavery was abolished, plantations were divided. The 518 acres that were once Annaberg Plantation were divided into smaller farms.
Today the plantation ruins are protected by the Virgin Islands National Park and are open to the public. Trees have reclaimed the hillsides around Annaberg. A trail leads through factory ruins, slave quarters, windmill and other remains. Placards and signs along the trails describe how sugar was produced and discuss plantation life and the history behind sugar plantations on St. John and in particular Annaberg.
The windmill at Annaberg, one of focal points of the site, was built possibly between 1810 and 1830, and was one of the largest in the islands. Thirty four feet in diameter at the base and twenty feet at the top, the mill stands thirty eight feet high. When there was no wind to work the windmill, a horse mill would be used. The horses or mules were plodded in a circular motion; this turned the upright rollers in the center of the platform. Slaves passed cane stalk through the rollers and a box at the bottom caught the juice. The juice ran by gravity through gutters to the factory for processing. Three to five hundred gallons of juice could be produced in an hour.
The cane juice flowed first into a large copper kettle, where a fire was lit beneath. The excess water evaporated and workers would ladle the juice from one kettle to the next, down a line of five kettles. The juice eventually became concentrated through various levels of heating and evaporation. The concentrated juice was then placed in a box to crystallize. The crystallized brown sugar was then put in barrels that held up to 1600 pounds of sugar. Early removal from the last heated kettle prevented crystals from forming however produced molasses that was used to make rum.

Gracie #230155 is a beautiful 5 year old Persian that was with her former family for only 8 months. Sadly Gracie was displaced when her owner brought a new puppy home & her husband didn’t want to keep both Gracie & the puppy. There is a happy ending to Gracie’s story though, because her forever family was quick to take her in and she now has her own special place in their loving home! Well, are you all ready to leave for St.John ? Easy and most of The V.I.Kitties spent yesterday bringing chairs, tables, umbrellas, coolers, rafts, catamarans, small sailboats, snorkle gear, volley balls, beach balls, towels, sunscreen and most every thing else they could think of you might need over from Easys beach. There is fishing gear too. Any of you who have been to Easys beach and would rather go there, there is transportation. For others we will go to the World Famous Trunk Bay. There is no camping on Trunk Bay but just down the road is Cinnamon Bay, where you can pitch your tent. Of course there is Easys beach.

Trunk Bay is the most famous beach on St. John and possibly the most famous beach in all the Caribbean. It has perfect powdery white sand and an under water snorkel trail with plaques describing the various items that snorklers can see on the bottom.
It has consistently been voted one of the Ten Best Beaches in The World by Condé Nast Traveler magazine and has received similar recognition from other publications. Also, the National Geographic Society has labeled Trunk Bay as the most beautiful beach in the world. It is one of the most popular beaches on St. John.
St. John has 33 beautiful beaches that line its shores.

There will be members of my family around to answer questions and help you any way they can. Pete will have planes and helicopters to get you to St.Thomas then to St.John. I hope you enjoy !

The goldfish likes living in water and should be allowed to remain in its bowl.
I will not put a live mole in my food bowl and expect it to stay there until I get hungry.

I will not drag the magnets (and the papers they are holding up) off of the refrigerator and then bat them underneath it so that they adhere to the underside.
I will learn to relax at the vet's office so they will start writing things in my records like "Good Kitty" and "Sweet Kitty" instead of the stuff that's there now like "MEAN!!" "BITER!!!" and "GET HELP!!!!!"
I will not be miffed at my human all day and then kiss her on the nose at 2:00 a.m. to tell her that she is forgiven and can now pet me.
I will not scratch the children of lawyers, no matter how much they chase me or how hard they pull my tail.
If I MUST claw my human, I will not do it in such a fashion that the scars resemble a botched suicide attempt.
If I must give a present to my human's overnight guests, my toy mouse is much more socially acceptable than a big live cockroach, even if it isn't as tasty.
I will not soak my catnip toy in the water bowl to make tea. I will not get high and sit there drinking my tea and kneading the floor afterwards. I will not then get delusions of grandeur and make tea in the toilet bowl or the tub. And I will not try to make tea with used socks, dirty panties or hair scrunches when my humans take the catnip toy away from me.
A warm pepperoni pizza is not a good place for a nap.

Yes, there are still two very large dogs in the backyard. There have been for several years. I don't have to act as if I've just discovered the Demon Horror of the Universe each time one of them appears in my window.
I will not play "dead cat on the stairs" while people are trying to bring in groceries or laundry, or else one of these days, it will really come true.
When the humans play darts, I will not leap into the air and attempt to catch them.
I will not swat my human's head repeatedly when she's on the family room floor trying to do sit ups.
When my human is typing at the computer, her forearms are *not* a hammock.
Computer and TV screens do not exist to backlight my lovely tail.
I am a walking static generator. My human doesn't need my help installing a new board in her computer.
I will not bring the city police to the front door by stepping on the speaker phone button and then the automatic 911 dial button.
I will not speed dial the overseas numbers.

I will not perch on my human's chest in the middle of the night and stare into her eyes until she wakes up.
We will not play Herd of Thundering Wildebeests Stampeding Across the Plains of the Serengeti over any human's bed while they're trying to sleep.
Screaming at the can of food will not make it open itself.
I cannot leap through closed windows to catch birds outside. If I forget this and bonk my head on the window and fall behind the couch in my attempt, I will not get up and do the same thing again.
I will not assume the patio door is open when I race outside to chase leaves.
I will not back up off the front porch and fall into the bushes just as my human is explaining to his girlfriend how graceful I am.
I will not complain that my bottom is wet and that I am thirsty after sitting in my water bowl.
I will not intrude on my human's candle-lit bubble bath and singe my bottom.
I will not stick my paw into any container to see if there is something in it. If I do, I will not hiss and scratch when my human has to shave me to get the rubber cement out of my fur.
If I bite the cactus, it will bite back.
It is not a good idea to try to lap up the powdered creamer before it dissolves in boiling coffee.
When I am chasing my tail and catch my back leg instead, I will not bite down on my foot. This hurts, and my scream scares my human.
When it rains, it will be raining on all sides of the house. It is not necessary to check every door.
Birds do not come from the bird feeder. I will not knock it down and try to open it up to get the birds out.

This is our last special recognition catpaign of 2012 & we’ve got the purrfect kitty to ring in the New Year! ALUMINUM #240737 is a beautiful young kitty that was noticed at a local vet office when mom was looking for another kitty after the loss of her special boy. There were several strays up for adoption but none of them caught the eye of mom until she came to the cage of a sweet adult cat that had finished weaning her litter of kittens & been spayed by the clinic. As soon as her would be mom picked her up & cuddled her she knew she was the purrfect one to join her family. She took her home that day in a crate that wouldn’t latch but did great holding the cage door closed even though her hand was being attacked the entire ride home. As soon as Aluminum #240737 arrived at her new forever home she settled in quickly & began purring. She’s extremely loyal to her mom & follows her on every walk she takes plus loves to wrestle & play bite with her. Aluminum says there isn’t a treat on the market that she won’t eat but only eats wholesome, good-for-you cat food. My human will never let me eat her pet hamster, and I am at peace with that.
I will not puff my entire body to twice its size for no reason after my human has finished watching a horror movie.
I will not slurp fish food from the surface of the aquarium.
I must not help myself to Q-tips, and I must certainly not proceed to stuff them down the sink's drain.
I will not eat large numbers of assorted bugs, then come home and puke them up so the humans can see that I'm getting plenty of roughage.
I will not lean way over to drink out of the tub, fall in, and then pelt right for the box of clumping cat litter. (It took FOREVER to get the stuff out of my fur.)
I will not stand on the bathroom counter, stare down the hall, and growl at NOTHING after my human has finished watching The X-Files.
I will not fish out my human's partial plate from the glass so that the dog can "wear" it and pretend to be my human. (It is somewhat unnerving to wake up, roll over in bed, and see the dog grinning at you with your own teeth.)
I will not use the bathtub to store live mice for late-night snacks.
I will not drag dirty socks up from the basement in the middle of the night, deposit them on the bed and yell at the top of my lungs (Burmese LOUD yowling) so that my human can admire my "kill."

It's Friday ! Thank you for stopping by to vote and for the nice comments. I really have enjoyed this month with all of you. I know it's been a busy month and I appreciate that you have found time to visit me and others. I found some New Yearrs resolutions made by a cat named Buddy. I will share them with you so maybe we can all get some ideas for our own resolutions. Thanks again ! Have a fun Friday !

Dry cat food is both tasty and nutritious, and it is always available. I need not starve myself and act pitiful all day long in anticipation of the canned food

I have long fur, and I must realize that this means that occasionally I will need to be brushed. When this happens I will not carry on like my skin is being scraped off by a cheese grater. This makes my cat buddies nervous

The Christmas tree is not made of catnip, and the ornaments are not toys.

When I allow the terror to overwhelm me and I decide to flee down the stairs as fast as I can, I will at least maintain enough clarity to make sure the door is open first. I will also strive to touch at least one of the fourteen steps on the way down.

When the black cat (a neighborhood stray) comes onto the deck looking for handouts I will not try to show off by climbing up the blinds.

I will try very hard to resist my urge to jump into the large black bags that are sometimes available in the kitchen. If I give in to my urges and get yucky stuff all over me I will submit to being sprayed off in the sink without trying to rip the human's flesh off.

Just because I was accidentally let into the garage once does not mean that it is now a part of my official domain. When I hear the human pulling into the garage I will not jump onto the washing machine ready to leap into the garage the moment the connecting door is opened. The sounds of grocery bags crashing to the floor scares me.

And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans,
Went into the kitchen and started to clean.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a little white truck, with an oversized mirror.

The driver was smiling, so lively and grand;
The patch on his jacket said "U.S. POSTMAN."

With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox
Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox.

Bill after bill, after bill, they still came.
Whistling and shouting he called them by name:

"Now Dillard's, now Broadway's, now Penny's and Sears
Here's Levitz's and Target's and Mervyn's--all here!!

To the tip or your limit, every store, every mall,
Now chargeaway-chargeaway-chargeaway all!"

He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work.
He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk.

He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road,
Driving much faster with just half a load.

Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer,
"ENJOY WHAT YOU GOT ... YOU'LL BE PAYING ALL YEAR!"

I hope you all had a happy Christmas ! I Thank you for taking time to leave a vote in my Golden Stocking ! I know you were busy with family, friends, FOOD ! and all of your new toys, boxes paper and whatever else you found to get into. I am very Blessed to have furrends like all of you. Boxing Day

Despite its name, Boxing Day, which is celebrated on December 26 in Great Britain, has nothing to do with pugilistic competition. Nor is it a day for people to return unwanted Christmas presents. While the exact origins of the holiday are obscure, it is likely that Boxing Day began in England during the Middle Ages.
Some historians say the holiday developed because servants were required to work on Christmas Day, but took the following day off. As servants prepared to leave to visit their families, their employers would present them with gift boxes
Church Alms Boxes : Another theory is that the boxes placed in churches where parishioners deposited coins for the poor were opened and the contents distributed on December 26, which is also the Feast of St. Stephen. As time went by, Boxing Day gift giving expanded to include those who had rendered a service during the previous year. This tradition survives today as people give presents to tradesmen, mail carriers, doormen, porters, and others who have helped them.
St. Stephen's Martyrdom : The Feast of St. Stephen also takes place on December 26. St. Stephen was one of the seven original deacons of the Christian Church who were ordained by the Apostles to care for widows and the poor. For the success of his preaching and his devotion to Christ, St. Stephen was stoned to death by a mob. As he died, he begged God not to punish his killers.

Merry Christmas ! I thank all of you for stopping by through the month to leave a vote in my Golden Stocking. I know all of your pawernts have been very busy and I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit me. Let Every Day Be Christmas

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
Peace on Earth, good will to men,
kind thoughts and words of cheer,
are things we should use often
and not just once a year.
